5. EXPRESSIONISM
• Is an art movement originated in Germany in the 1910’s and ending
in 1930’s pre-world war 2.
• The movement was a response to the ever industrializing world and
the loss of touch with humanity, authenticity and spirituality.
• Expressionism ideals focused on portraying a mood, a feeling of a
thought more than producing a scene from life.
• A transition from still life drawing sparked the catalyst for a more
abstract style.
• The key elements are colors representing emotion, large brush and
loose swirling and curving strokes.

EXPRESSIONISM
Vincent Willem van Gogh
• In just over a decade he created about 2,100 artworks,
including around 860 oil paintings, most of which date from the last
two years of his life.

and j are characterised by bold colors and dramatic, impulsive and
expressive brushwork that contributed to the foundations of modern
art.

• He was born in Manila on April 10, 1942. Bencab
began carving a niche for himself in Manila’s art circles
shortly after receiving his bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts
from the University of the Philippines in 1963
9. Jose Joya
• was a Filipino painter best known for his
Abstract Expressionist works which utilized
a variety of techniques, including controlled
drips, impasto strokes, and transparent
layering.
• He has an irresistible urge to reach that
level of spiritual satisfaction and to project
what he is and what he thinks through his
work.
10. Alfonso Angel Yangco Ossorio
was a Filipino American abstract expressionist
artist who can born in Manila in 1916 to wealthy
Filipino parents from the province of Negros
Occidental .
His heritage was Hispanic, Filipino, and
Chinese. Between the ages of eight and thirteen,
he attended school in England.
