Grade Students Knowledge Of Fractions
In forth grade students knowledge of fractions is expected to grow, just like in third grade, to a higher
level. After reading over this section I m starting to see a pattern happening. This pattern is that each
grade level begins to get harder and have more information for the students to learn. In fourth grade
students expand their knowledge on equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, relating fractions and
mixed numbers, adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator, multiplying fractions by
whole numbers, interpreting decimals, and last comparing decimals. In the forth grade is important for
students to use a visual fraction model, to show how the number and size of parts differ, even though
the fractions themselves are the same size. One way to show this in the classroom is to have the
students write out the fraction such as 2/8, which can be thought of as ¼ if pairs of the original 8
sections were grouped together. The student would first draw eight connecting squares shading in the
first two. Then the student would draw four connecting squares and shade in just one. As you can see
¼ is the reduced fraction of 2/8, so we are just reducing the fraction and showing how it is the same.
Comparing fractions can be very difficult if the two fractions being compared have two different
denominators. There a few ways to help students in this grade learn how to distinguish between the
two and compare them. The first way, which is how I like to do this, is by

Analyse Negative Consequences And Reinforcement
4. List master teacher s rules for student behavior (in addition to procedures):
Students are required to listen to what the teacher says at all times. Before going to the teacher with a
problem with a fellow student, they have to work it out first. However, the younger grades usually go
to the teacher first; however, the teacher will tell them to work it out. This ends up working the
majority of the time, though there are times when the teacher needs to step in.
5. Evaluate positive consequences and reinforcement (positive rewards) used:
If a student worked hard and tried their best, they got to put a sticker on their chart. Once they get a
certain amount, a student earns a prize.
6. Analyze negative consequences and redirection/reinforcement

Who Is The Friar In The Canterbury Tales
One of England s most famous writers, Geoffrey Chaucer, was known for writing social commentary
and for his ironic descriptions. His most famous work The Canterbury Tales is no exception.
Beginning with the General Prologue Chaucer reveals his negative attitude towards the clergy s
corruption and greed. Three characters in particular represent the problems Chaucer solved for the
church. The Friar is supposedly a religious man of God, that would live among the poor. Although
people would not see how the Friar was, Chaucer knew the sneaky things he would do and allows the
character to see the true Friar. A Friar there was, a wanton, and a merry, a limiter, a very festive man.
(208 209.) Unprofessionally, the Friar went from place to place collecting donations for the Church
when the money would go to him. He would basically use his position in the church to get money.
Friar s intentions were dishonest and would also make money by selling his blessings. He should have
been even more poor than the people he had helped, but he was living large and eating healthy. He
would woo women with his sweet words and buy them gifts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Going hunting was something that the Monk enjoyed doing rather than to sit and study the bible like
he should have been doing. Chaucer s characterization of the monk was that he does not care for work
or prayer. Having jewelrey, dressing wealthy was something that The Monk liked having, but having
wealthy clothes and jewelrey did not match his humble corrupted self. All Monks must commit to God
and devote life and prayer, but unlike this Monk he was careless and disobeyed this rule and spent
most of his time eating, hunting and getting women. He had lust for food and women. That explains
why he is so big and disrespected the old traditions of the religious life in the

Critical Analysis Of Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
Critical Analysis of Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
The speaker in Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken gives the reader insight into human nature with
each line of poetry. While, Frost had not originally intended for this to be an inspirational poem, line
by line, the speaker is encouraging each reader to seek out his or her own personal path in the journey
of life. Romanticizing the rural woods of New England creates the perfect setting for the theme of self
discovery laid out and described by the speaker.
Robert Frost s original intent in writing the poem was not to convey the inspiration that it has for
almost a hundred years. He had written the poem to poke fun at his friend, Edward Thomas, with
whom he had taken many walks. Thomas was hesitant and always wondering what would happen if he
had chosen a different path (http://www.yoga.com/raw/readings/frost_road.html). In fact, Frost sent
the poem to his friend, then in France, and got the response, ?What are you trying to do with me??
(http://www.libarts.sfasu.edu/Frost/PopPoems.html). However, Frost did see the impact the poem was
having and stated, Do not follow where the path may lead?Go instead where there is no path and leave
a trail.
The speaker communicates many things in the first stanza of the poem. The first line, ?Two roads
diverged in a yellow wood,? uses imagery with the color yellow, the color of gold, to show that the
speaker sees an opportunity ahead of him. The two roads symbolizes the choices and consequences he
must choose. The next line, ?And sorry I could not travel both,? illustrates how difficult it is to make a
choice. It is impossible not to wonder what could happen by choosing the other road and what he
could be missing out on. ?And being one traveler long I stood,? shows how the speaker would like to
be in two places at once. Unable to accomplish this, he takes a long time to decide on what he should
do. Finally, the speaker describes studying the first option, looking as far into the future as he possibly
could with the lines, ?And looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth.?
The speaker continues to convey his message in the second stanza of ?The Road Not Taken.? In the
opening line of this

diversification across product lines but not far from their home markets i.e France.U.S companies had
easy access to a huge domestic market, but France was relatively a small one. PPR or Kering was a
conglomerate not because of its sheer grand design but because of the random acquisition to fuel the
growth after the hay days, the company was doing very well but was reaching the limits of this
acquisition model. That s why they decided to narrow their focus on building a group of global brands
in luxury and sport.
Action to strengthen market standing and competitiveness by acquiring companies:
After narrowing into the luxury segment, Kering had to strengthen its market standing. Kering could
have expanded Gucci as a brand to other segments but that would have been at the expense of USP of
Gucci its Uniqueness. So, they came into the strategy to allow complementary brands but not brands
that would compete with each other. Their acquisition strategy is such that, the brand they acquire
fulfils a clear mission within the group and should cater to a complete distinct segment or market. For

Friar Lawrence
Friar Lawrence Friar Laurence is presented as a holy man who is trusted and respected by the other
characters. The Friar s role as the friend and advisor to Romeo and Juliet highlights the conflict
between parents and their children within the play. The centrality of the Friar s role suggests a notable
failure of parental love. Romeo and Juliet can t tell their parents of their love because of the quarrel
between the two families. In their isolation, Romeo and Juliet turn to the Friar who can offer neutral
advice. At first, the Friar can t believe how quickly Romeo has abandoned Rosaline and fallen in love

The Importance Of Standing Up And Face Your Beliefs
Stand up and face your fears, or they will defeat you, once said LL Cool J. Unequivocally, this is
extremely accurate, and one can name many events that pertain to this topic. Personally, I believe that
it is important to speak your beliefs and share your opinions. One reason is that many opportunities
are lost is due to the fact that people choose not to speak up. Many avoid speaking up because of peer
pressure and the desire of fitting in. They are fearful of being judged if they choose or believe the
wrong thing. At times, the average population thinks it is better to keep quiet; although, in reality, it
can bring significant consequences by not communicating. It does take courage to speak up, but half if
not most of the time it leads to positive outcomes. It is imperative to stand for your beliefs because it
can make a difference whether it is minute or substantial. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By standing up for ourselves and sharing our opinions, we also build up self confidence. While
building up our inner strength, we motivate other people to speak up and not be as afraid to stand up
for what they believe in. It builds character in you and others around you. After one person expresses
their beliefs, it happens to rub off on others and has a domino effect. Once an abundance of
individuals share their opinion on a certain topic, they can take a vote and see what the majority
wants. However, if no one were to take a vote on what they believe is better, then we would remain in
the same position we started with. We would never progress, and our world would be easily

Terminal High Altitude Air Defense System
North Korea s nuclear weapons and ballistic missile defense program is a serious threat to the United
States. A fully developed North Korean Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) could reach the
continental United States. (Jack Kim) If North Korea conducts a test launch of ICBM that threatens
the U.S. or its allies, the U.S. will have to rely on their Terminal High Altitude Air Defense System
(THAAD) to shoot the missile down with an interceptive (Jae Soon). The THAAD is an anti ballistic
missile system developed by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) that uses kinetic energy from its
impact with a ballistic missile that can destroy the missile and minimize the damages of an exploding
warhead.
The THAAD was originally created in 1991 exclusively for the United States Army. The United States
Army hired the MDA during the Gulf war to develop a system that could counter scud missiles that
were launched against U.S. troops in Iraq. (Panda) The MDA awarded Lockheed a contract making
the corporation the primary contractor in charge of designing the system. Per the Lockheed Martin
website, the THAAD is one of the most advanced missile systems in the world today. (Lockheed

Compare And Contrast Lincoln And Jefferson Davis
In 1861, ideological divisions between the north and the south exploded with the inauguration of
Abraham Lincoln dividing the county into the Union and Confederation. Jefferson Davis became the
President of the Confederation, while Abraham Lincoln continued to represent the United States. Both
men led during the bloodiest war of American history with fatalities claiming approximately 2.385%

intelligence developed by extensive educations, Jefferson Davis obtained his education through formal
academic methods, while Abraham Lincoln educated himself through books and on the job training.

Clams Are Great Pollution Detectors By Susan Linville
In the past, clams have been used to locate sources of pollution in bodies of water. They get their food,
as well as performing gas exchange, through the process of filter feeding (Linville). This entails taking
water inside of their shells and filtering it through their gills to trap food particles and exchange gas
(Linville). When doing this, they bring in the food particles they need to survive and have the potential
to bring in other materials such as toxic substances or pollutants (Linville). This also allows for the
clams to clean the water, improving water quality (Stanford). When the clams bring in these
substances, scientists are able to then analyze the tissue of the gills and find out which substances they
brought in. This ability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Air stripping removes contaminants by pumping contaminated water and evaporating the bad
chemicals. However, it can take up to a year to have any effect on cleaning the water (Safewater).
Activated carbon filtration bring pollutants through its system and collects them, but it needs to be
changed frequently, have the possibility of taking a long time to work, and are very expensive
(Safewater). Bioremediation is using microorganism to digest contaminants, but again has the
possibility of taking a long time, yet is very inexpensive (Safewater). Phytoremediation involves using
plants and trees to remove contaminants with their roots and is all natural, but it takes a very long time
and the various plants or trees that are introduced can have negative effects on the ecosystems
(Safewater). Wetlands and algae is similar to phytoremediation and is already used in wetland habitats
for the same purpose of pollution removal. Lastly, chemical oxidation uses oxidants to change harmful
chemicals into less harmful chemicals in a semi timely manner, but it is expensive. Comparatively,
Asiatic clams are easy to collect due to their prominence in many bodies of water from past human
transport and easy to

William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar Essay
Power is a highly coveted mistress. She is sought after by senators, presidents, kings, and emperors.
Most of them willing to do whatever it takes to get her. The history of this world is overrun with
conflict and war as different parties compete for her hand. There are those that will obtain her by
physical force on the battlefield, while others seduce her to their side through sweet persuasion.
However, the act of obtaining power is nothing compared to the work of keeping her. Power is an
unfaithful mistress, in need of constant wooing. In William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, the battle for
power is always in a state of flux, constantly changing hands. Though the players in this play
sometimes use physical force to obtain power, it is persuasion and manipulation that have the strong
hold on her. Through close examination of this text, the use of persuasion and manipulation in
obtaining and maintaining power will be explored. When the play first opens there is a celebration in
the streets because Julius Caesar has proven victorious over Pompey in battle. However, this action is
quickly rebuffed by tribunes Flavius and Marullus, who are quick to remind the plebeians that they
once loved Pompey:
O you hard hearts, you cruel men of Rome,
Knew you not Pompey? Many a time and oft
Have you climbed up to walls and battlements
To towers and windows, yea, to chimney tops,
Your infants in your arms, and there have sat
The livelong day, with patient expectation,

Three Polls
Abstract The objective of this report was to analyse three polls each from different sources, to identify
whether they were biased and unfair or unbiased and fair or perhaps a concoction of the two and if the
location of the sources affected the reliability and accuracy of the poll. This was done by depicting it
into a table with strengths and weaknesses of each of the three polls adjacent to each other. The
findings showed all three of the polls were with biased and unfair or unbiased and fair, none of them
were a mixture of the two. The sources of the polls did not influence the reliability and accuracy of the
poll, rather it contradicted it. All the sources were reliable however the polls had some bias involved

whether the polls analysed in the report are fair and unbiased or unfair and biased or a concoction of
both. Before any judgements are declared, the definition of what makes a fair and unbiased poll must
be outlined. A poll is where people are asked to give their opinions on a subjective or objective matter.
A poll diverges into nine types; benchmark polls, tracking polls, bushfire polls, entrance polls, exit
polls, deliberative opinion polls, opinion polls, push polls and straw polls. A benchmark poll is
generally a short and simple survey of respondent s opinion designated to help political candidates
craft their campaigns. Tracking polls are repeated over several consecutive days to create a picture of
where opinion is moving over time, to enable a rough report of the campaigns. The bushfire polls are
polls taken during the period between the benchmark and tracking polls. The number of brushfire
polls taken by a campaign is determined by how competitive the race is and how much money the
campaign has to spend. These polls usually focus on likely voters and the

Survival in solitude Essays
Survival in solitude After being stranded on an uninhabited island, Robinson Crusoe manages to
discover his natural abilities that serve as indicators of his true character. At first glance the common
adage, Necessity is the mother of all inventions, appears to account for the character of Robinson
Crusoe; however, further analysis suggests that the intelligence, industriousness, and optimism are
inherent to Crusoe s personality. Sir Francis Bacon so aptly stated, Prosperity doth best discover vice;
but adversity doth best discover virtue. From the moment that Crusoe was stranded on the island until
the day he was rescued he exhibits these qualities.

As he puts it in his journal:
I had never handled a tool in my life, and yet in time, by labor, application, and contrivance, I found at

Through his narration it is evident that this inherent intelligence allows him to adapt to his long and
lonely life on the island. The format of the novel itself, that of a journal, indicates that Crusoe is
highly educated so that he is able to write and express his thoughts clearly.
Furthermore, Crusoe s hard working nature forces him to do more than what is strictly necessary in
order to sustain himself. When unloading the cargo off the ship, he works endlessly until the task is
completed although he could have taken a lighter approach to the job. Rather than being complacent
about his comforts Crusoe was industrious and salvages all that he could from the ship. He labors hard
to bring all the steel cables, tools, and any munitions that he could find, even though he may not need
some of the items immediately. Crusoe also gathers on his twelfth and last trip little knickknacks like
coins and razor blades. When he begins using the cave as his shelter, he works hard in order to create
shelves so that he can organize his belongings. He fashions himself with a goatskin jacket, skirts, cap,
footwear, and pouches for his weaponry. If he is not inherently

The Benefits Of Negative Visualization By Oliver Burkeman
Throughout generations, people believed that having positive visualizations can make situations
better, however when you are in a situation that gives you a negative outcome you become devastated.
Oliver Burkeman in his essay, The Benefits of Negative Visualization discusses how negative
visualization is more likely to make people happier than positive visualization. Burkeman supported
that negative visualization makes an individual happier rather than positive visualization; he supported
this claim by describing how spending time and focusing on how well things would go reduces one s
motivation to achieve their goal. Tranquility gives individuals the opportunity to focus on negative
emotions, positive thinkers are less prepared and more acutely distressed, negative visualization
causes less stress, and being prepared for the worst case scenario helps establish what to expect. When
using negative visualization, it would be beneficial to use it to prepare oneself for the worst case
scenarios and to reduce both fear and anxiety. In regards to Burkeman s position, I can relate to the
information he is presenting and apply it to my personal life. Therefore, I can strongly agree with his
point of view that negative visualization is more likely to make an individual happier than positive
visualization.

The material presented in Chapters 2 and 3 are related in the sense that they intertwine with each
other. In Chapter 2, the main focus is the social gradient and stress levels. The lower on the social
gradient a person is the higher the stress level is and the more risk that person is at for health
conditions. This can lessen health of the future generations. Chapter 3 is wrapped in here. It is where
life is decided at the fetus or young age stage. Meaning the health of an individual is decided at an
early stage. If a mother is on the low end of the social gradient and has high levels of stress during a
pregnancy, the fetus is effected by the mother s health. Leading into the child growing up in the same

Reflection On Classwork
My lesson began as class usually does, with students completing the Do Now up on the board: having
notebooks and pencils ready, picking up the warm up sheet from the back, and writing the homework
in their planner. Since there was no homework from the previous day, we were able to go right into the
warm up. I walked around the classroom to make sure students had the warm up and were beginning
to work. Students were unusually quiet, probably due to the camera and Keith s presence, so I
reminded them that they were allowed to discuss the warm up. I stopped to help one student get
started finding the missing side lengths of two similar triangles and helped another remember how to
divide fractions for the last question. After the students had about 5 minutes to work on the warm up, I
displayed a blank warm up using the document camera and asked for students to share their answers. I
asked an additional question about what the scale factor was for the triangles and modeled using the
scale factor to find the missing side lengths. pointed out to students that all the fraction questions
related to a pair of corresponding side lengths in the triangles from the first question, recalling that we
could use fractions to represent or find corresponding sides in similar shapes.
Next, I introduced that we will be exploring proportional relationships on a graph and that we would
be trying a new style of group work. I explained the structure to the students, that they would be in

The Birth Of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin
The birth of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin on June 6, 1799 ushered in a period of revolution in
Russian literature. Pushkin s noble upbringing afforded him the opportunity to study under French and
Russian tutors, which lead to his passion and interest in poetry and prose work. After studying at the
Imperial Lyceum, Pushkin first published his work in The Messenger of Europe, a Russian journal, at
age 15. The censorship of Tsar Nicolaus I had a profound effect on his works, which had themes that
were at times unsettling to the autocrat of Russia. Pushkin did not have his own style, but instead used
the ideas of other to form his own unique style (Merrimen). Pushkin believed that it was important to
not only write an interesting story, but also to write poetry or prose an elegant, precise, polished, and
well executed way (Leatherbarrow 368). Pushkin s major theme dealt with the balance of light,
darkness, fire, and coldness, and then relating these ideas to social and political occurrences in his
homeland (Skorov 573 574). Among Russian literary critics, Pushkin has received superstardom for
his use of language to articulate his ideas in a way that many others could not, but, in other countries
around the world, the same appreciation for Pushkin s work does not exist. Scholars attest this to the
difficulty in translating Tsar Nicolaus native language, which was not present in Western Europe
during Pushkin s life (Emerson 653 654). Throughout his works, Russia s Bard

The Nebraska legislature is different from other state legislatures. What makes Nebraska different to

polarization are present and so they are something that also affects the unicameral. Nebraska s non
partisanship is being threatened by polarization. However, what causes this polarization in a state
which has a non partisan unicameral. There is very limited literature on the unicameral and the
problems it faces. Nevertheless, I intend to examine literature concerning legislatures to figure out
what is occurring in the unicameral that is causing the non partisanship to erode. I believe that
Nebraska is a unique state in the way that its government operates and therefore an interesting case to
study. I think that there are a couple of important factors like term limits and the influence of interest
groups that might be at play and are contributing to the partisanship being observed within the
unicameral. First, I will examine the literature and discuss possible variables that affect non
partisanship. Second, I will relate the relevant literature to my internship experience. Third, I will
provide a reflection on my time at the unicameral. Lastly, I will provide concluding remarks and
direction on where research

Subclinical Thyroid Disease
Subclinical Thyroid Issues Related to Pregnancy Thyroid hormone plays a critical role during
pregnancy both in the development of a healthy baby and in maintaining the health of the mother.
During pregnancy, a mother can experience hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, or a mixture of both as
in this case. Thyroid disease is a disorder that results when the thyroid gland produces more or less
thyroid hormone than the body needs. Pregnancy causes normal changes in thyroid function but can
also lead to thyroid disease. Hyperthyroidism is typically cause by an autoimmune disorder called
Graves disease which causes the body to attack its own cells and organs. These antibodies that the
mother produces can move across the placenta and into to the baby s ... Show more content on

Selecting A Form Of Entity For Doing Business
Selecting a form of entity for doing business.
Tax payers, who are business owners, including the self employed, have choices regarding how to set
up their entity for tax purposes. Generally, the following options are available for tax payers:
Sole Proprietorship
Single Member Limited Liability Company
S Corporation
C Corporation
Sole Proprietorships do not file any documents, including annual reports, with the Secretary of State.
Accordingly, they do not have legal or creditor protection.
Sole Proprietorships prepare Schedule C as part of their Individual Income Tax returns, with exception
to farmers who must file Schedule F. The Schedule C is the most simplistic form for tax filing
purposes, when it comes to business. Sole Proprietors may need to file Schedule SE.
Generally, self employed business owners can set up fringe benefits (i.e. self employed health
insurance deduction and retirement plan) for their business. Self employed health insurance and
retirement deductions are reported on page 1 of the individual income tax form as an adjustment to
gross income. Discrimination tests have to be met for the self employed health insurance if the sole
proprietorship has employees.
Under the family member s rule, as stated in Circular E of the IRS: Child employed by parents.
Payments for the services of a child under age 18 who works for his or her parent in a trade or
business aren t subject to social security and Medicare taxes if the trade or business is a

Cover Songs Comparison
In the music industry, it is not uncommon for original songs to be rerecorded and altered by other
artists resulting in what is known as a cover song. One example of this situations occurrence can be
seen in Vance Joy s indie folk pop song, Riptide , that was famously covered by pop and country
crossover artist, Taylor Swift. Overall, there are many factors that go into the relationship between an
original and cover song and the artists of each song. Such as both artist s connection to the song and
the relationship between the artists themselves. There are also differences between the original and
cover songs themselves including song structure, instrumentation, vocals, lyrics, and lyrical meaning.
Vance Joy and Taylor Swift met for the first time backstage in New York at the Late Night Show with
David Letterman (Whitney). By the time for their first meeting, Swift had already covered Joy s hit
single, Riptide , on a British radio station and announced her invitation for Joy to join her as the
opening act on her international 1989 tour (Adams). Though Joy is an indie folk pop singer and Swift
a country, pop singer, the two managed to join their audiences together and create continued mass
popularity for Riptide as well as promote listeners of both genres to hear the two perform at the 1989
tour. As Joy was used to performing in smaller venues, the packed auditoriums that Swift s tour filled
were a new experience for him and encouraged him to step outside his

First Electronics Project
For the first Electronics Project, my team worked together to build a circuit and used a Multimeter to
measure multiple elements of the circuit. There were three tasks, one assigned to each member of the
group. There was a task assigned to each group member: Circuit builder, measurer, and the data
collector/calculator. Because of this group collaboration, we were able to work quickly and efficiently
to get the project done on time. This project was definitely a learning experience for all of us because
this was the first time we had been expected to build a circuit. We worked together and followed the
instructions step by step. The measurements we were expected to take included resistance, voltage,
and current which is what the data collector used to calculate theoretical values for the upcoming
measurements. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We related the three measurements through Ohms Law which recognizes the equation to calculate for
voltage, resistance, or current. For me, the most useful aspect of the project was learning how to build
a circuit and measure values of resistance, current, and voltage with a Multimeter. At first, I did not
know what the measurements meant, but after my teammates helped me understand how the
measurements are correlated to the theoretical calculations and the circuit as a whole, I better
understood how the circuit worked as well as what the measurements signified. Because of this
project, I have significantly developed my understanding of circuit analysis and circuit building. This
knowledge is essential to me as a learner because I believe that understanding correlations between
design and analysis is the way to make us more successful engineers in our

Micro and Macro Marketing
MICRO AND MACRO MARKETING ENVIRONMENT
Introduction
Micro marketing
Refers to the internal controllable factors or forces which affects the ability of a company to serve its
customers. e.g. the organization, the market, the suppliers, market intermediaries and the marketing
mix. The micro marketing environment that surrounds organisations can be complex by nature,
however the company has an element of control over how it operates within this environment.
Macro marketing

c) Social cultural environment
The social cultural forces influence the organization in the long run. Society keeps on changing now
and then. New demands are emerging and old ones lost, this adversely affects the marketing plans of a
business enterprise. There are three aspects of social environment namely:
i. Change in life styles and social values. e.g. changing role of women, emphasis on quality of the
goods instead of quantity. ii. Major social problems. E.g. concern on pollution of our environment,
social responsible marketing, concern of safety in occupation and in products etc. iii. Growing
consumerlisation. This is concern with the customer satisfaction. The marketers are now called upon
not only to deliver goods of high standards but also assure quality of life of its customers and all
citizens.
d) Political and legal forces
The government activities and legal forces affect the marketing activities of an enterprise because a
change in law relate to production a certain product forces an enterprise to comply in order to carry
out its activities. This means the organizational has to make some adjustment to its marketing which
may cause delay of the products to its consumers. eg Anti pollution laws influence marketing plans

Cochlear Implant Research On The Deaf Community
Monica Lopez

Cochlear Implant Research Paper
A cochlear implant is an ear adequate size complex electronic device. This electronic is used to
provide sound to a person who is completely deaf or to a high intense hard of hearing. This product
has had a great impact in the deaf community and has continued to evolve for over 40 years.
There is two parts to getting this type of implant; the internal and external part. The external part
consists of a microphone, a transmitter, and a speech processor. The microphone is a small like box
that sits right behind the ear to pick up sounds. A speech processor works together with the
microphone and transmitter which is under the skin to computerize the coded signals that have been
analyzed in the speech processor. With the internal part of this implant it is surgically implanted by
drilling in the temporal bone and mastoid bone. To the internal part there is two parts, the receiver and
the electrodes. The receiver takes the coded signals that came from the transmitter and sends them to
the array of electrodes that were surgically implanted in the cochlea. The electrodes stimulate the
fibers of the hearing nerves, and make the sounds recognizable. The inventor of the cochlear implant is
Graeme Clark. This Australian doctor was inspired by his deaf father. Clark started doing research in
1967 on a device that would enable for someone to hear. In the 1970s when Clark had his first

Marxist Reading Of Dracula
In 1897 Bram Stoker wrote Dracula, a novel that would permanently alter society s perception of the
modern vampire. The story is based loosely on the actions of a violent, bloodthirsty prince named
Vlad the Impaler who ruled over Romania in the 1400 s. The story of Dracula closely mimics the way
in which society functions in response to power. The Marxist theory can be applied to the novel,
displaying society s response to upper class power. The novel exemplifies the effects of unequal social
classes, abuse of power and manipulation of the proletariat. Evidently, the Marxist theory allows the
reader to see the socio economic impact of their leaders as displayed in literature. It provides the
reader with insight regarding the value of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses his social status and wealth as a way to achieve his malicious goal of transforming London
into a vampire hub. Dracula buys large amounts of real estate, gold and other materialistic items as a
way to get closer to his goal. In the novel, Dracula uses a fake name to buy multiple estates so that he
can have lairs all over Europe. According to the Marxist theory, the upper class is more inclined to use
exploitation as a means to move forward. Dracula uses people as pawns for his own personal gain. In
chapter two, Dracula says, I have been so long master that I would be master still, or at least that none
other should be master of me (Stoker, 27). Clearly, Dracula acknowledges his own power. He refuses
to be under the command of another. Evidently, Dracula is confident in his own abilities. He believes
that because of his title, he will easily be able to get his way. When Dracula speaks of London, the
audience sees his longing and desperation to have power there. On page 27 he says, Well, I know that,
did I move and speak in your London, none there are who would not know me for a stranger. That is
not enough for me. Here I am noble (Stoker, 27). Dracula feels the need to exercise control
everywhere he goes. In today s society, it is not uncommon to see a person in a position of power,
abuse their privileges. For example, in 1975 Indira Gandhi got in trouble for committing election
fraud. This is a prime example of someone believing it is acceptable for them to alter the rules for their
own personal gain. Marxism in literature displays the importance of holding those in power
accountable for their actions. Another example of Dracula s abuse of power is seen when he moves
from Romania to London. Dracula is obsessed with the need to attain more power, therefore he is not
satisfied with only Romanian people. He believes he can obtain more victims in London. Furthermore,
he takes what

Ownership In The Great Gatsby
Defining the idea of ownership is the act, state, or right of possessing something. Drawing from
different philosophers who have studied the human condition, they look at the principle of ownership
in relation to one s sense of self. Aristotle claims that tangible ownership is fundamental to developing
a person s character. However, in Jean Paul Sartre s view, he claims that the existence precedes the
essence . Sartre is saying how there is an equal balance between tangible and intangible items, but the
existence is more important than nature since man can choose what they define himself to be. I believe
that the idea of ownership relates to both intangible and tangible objects to find a sense of self. It is
possible for an individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Great Gatsby, we are able to see how shallow and materialistic the upper class can be. They find
a sense of self through the tangible items that they possess. Tom Buchanan is an example of where he
defines himself through his wealth to express how he is better than everyone. He deliberately tries to
show off all of his expensive belongings, so that he can make a statement on his standard of living.
However, Tom sacrifices his own moral character by finding a sense of self through his fortune. He
finds no guilt when he is expressing infidelity towards his wife Daisy, but when the idea of Daisy
having an affair with Gatsby transpires he becomes outraged and demands a confrontation. Although
Tom is a reckless narcissist, not all individuals that possess a fortune are shallow. Looking at
contemporary society, Bill Gates is a prominent figure that has an immense wealth but does not define
himself through it. He donates to countless charities that develop his moral character and is viewed by
his actions and not by his wealth. He finds pride through his charitable actions and is an important
example of proving how different views of ownership differ from each individual to find a sense of

Suicide In Teen Suicide
Suicide continues to be one of the main causes of death in teens throughout America. Statistically,
suicide in the second leading cause of death for those ages ten to twenty four and around 3,470 people
grades ninth to twelfth attempt suicide each day in the United States (Youth Suicide Statistics 1). The
reason for these people wanting to take their life is unknown, however, divorce of parents, formation
of a new family, or moving to a new community, are common reasons for suicide. On the other hand,
those who battle depression or develop depression increase the risk of a suicide attempt. People may
think that everything is going wrong and dying is the only solution; but people will always be willing
to help. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem and nothing is worth taking your own
life over.
In Willa Cather s short story Paul s Case , the main character, Paul, is clearly unhappy with his own
life as well as his home life. Paul lost his mother and has an unstable relationship with his father. He
dreads going home, as Cather explains: ...the hopeless feeling of sinking back forever into ugliness
and commonness that he had always had when he came home (Cather 108). This quote expresses the
hatred and disgust that Paul has towards his home and he will do anything to avoid coming home. This
book is very relatable and realistic because similar to Paul, many teenagers dislike their home life and
would much rather be away from their own family. Distancing yourself from loved ones, family,
friends, teachers, coaches, or whoever it may be, can be an early sign of depression (Suicide in
Children and Teens 1). Paul may or may not suffer from depression, but either way, his death could
have easily been prevented if Paul had a more positive outlook on life.
While homelife has an enormous impact on someone s emotions, life outside of home may be even
more important. According to Suicide in Children and teens, rebellious behavior such as constant
lying may be a sign of suicidal person. When questioned by the Principal as to why he was there, Paul
stated, politely enough, that he wanted to come back to school. This was a lie, but Paul was quite
accustomed to lying; found it, indeed, indispensable for

Zeitoun Summary
Dave Eggers Zeitoun is a story about a Muslim family in New Orleans before, during, and after
Hurricane Katrina. It follows mainly Abdulrahman, whom people call Zeitoun, and Kathy Zeitoun, his
wife. Eggers follows this family though the dangerous storm and shows the aftermath of what
happened physically and mentally. The story is built through personal accounts and the bias that is
built through these stories. Eggers controls the narrative and what readers should feel and sets the
reader up for a story controlled by him, the author. The beginning of the book introduces the
protagonists. A personal attachment is instantly felt by the readers. Zeitoun s background is introduced
through a flashback of his childhood, but soon after, Eggers talks about their contracting business and
home life. He writes, Kathy and Zeitoun... ran a company, Zeitoun A. Painting Contractor LLC, and ...

He talks about how Zeitoun is helping others nonstop. Zeitoun is helping friends, strangers, even dogs
during this time of need all with his canoe and the stock of food in his fridge. He even says himself
that it s God s will that he is in New Orleans helping out after the storm. All these details about how
helpful and selfless Zeitoun is making sure the reader knows these positive things about him. Eggers
way of writing is very deliberate in controlling the narrative. He strictly focuses on things Zeitoun is
doing, how his family is feeling, and the devastation Zeitoun is seeing. Since the story is so personal,
the readers can feel a connection with him. The audience is able to put themselves in his shoes and
experience what he is experiencing. The stress of the situation combined with the purpose that Zeitoun
is feeling by helping people creates a unique situation for Eggers s to write about. He could have
written just about Zeitoun canoeing around, but he made sure to make the story as personal as

  • 2. Grade Students Knowledge Of Fractions In forth grade students knowledge of fractions is expected to grow, just like in third grade, to a higher level. After reading over this section I m starting to see a pattern happening. This pattern is that each grade level begins to get harder and have more information for the students to learn. In fourth grade students expand their knowledge on equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, relating fractions and mixed numbers, adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator, multiplying fractions by whole numbers, interpreting decimals, and last comparing decimals. In the forth grade is important for students to use a visual fraction model, to show how the number and size of parts differ, even though the fractions themselves are the same size. One way to show this in the classroom is to have the students write out the fraction such as 2/8, which can be thought of as ¼ if pairs of the original 8 sections were grouped together. The student would first draw eight connecting squares shading in the first two. Then the student would draw four connecting squares and shade in just one. As you can see ¼ is the reduced fraction of 2/8, so we are just reducing the fraction and showing how it is the same. Comparing fractions can be very difficult if the two fractions being compared have two different denominators. There a few ways to help students in this grade learn how to distinguish between the two and compare them. The first way, which is how I like to do this, is by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analyse Negative Consequences And Reinforcement 4. List master teacher s rules for student behavior (in addition to procedures): Students are required to listen to what the teacher says at all times. Before going to the teacher with a problem with a fellow student, they have to work it out first. However, the younger grades usually go to the teacher first; however, the teacher will tell them to work it out. This ends up working the majority of the time, though there are times when the teacher needs to step in. 5. Evaluate positive consequences and reinforcement (positive rewards) used: If a student worked hard and tried their best, they got to put a sticker on their chart. Once they get a certain amount, a student earns a prize. 6. Analyze negative consequences and redirection/reinforcement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Who Is The Friar In The Canterbury Tales One of England s most famous writers, Geoffrey Chaucer, was known for writing social commentary and for his ironic descriptions. His most famous work The Canterbury Tales is no exception. Beginning with the General Prologue Chaucer reveals his negative attitude towards the clergy s corruption and greed. Three characters in particular represent the problems Chaucer solved for the church. The Friar is supposedly a religious man of God, that would live among the poor. Although people would not see how the Friar was, Chaucer knew the sneaky things he would do and allows the character to see the true Friar. A Friar there was, a wanton, and a merry, a limiter, a very festive man. (208 209.) Unprofessionally, the Friar went from place to place collecting donations for the Church when the money would go to him. He would basically use his position in the church to get money. Friar s intentions were dishonest and would also make money by selling his blessings. He should have been even more poor than the people he had helped, but he was living large and eating healthy. He would woo women with his sweet words and buy them gifts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chaucer s characterization of the monk was that he does not care for work or prayer. All Monks must commit to God and devote life and prayer, but unlike this Monk he was careless and disobeyed this rule and spent most of his time eating, hunting and getting women. He had lust for food and women. That explains why he is so big and disrespected the old traditions of the religious life in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Critical Analysis Of Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken Critical Analysis of Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken The speaker in Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken gives the reader insight into human nature with each line of poetry. While, Frost had not originally intended for this to be an inspirational poem, line by line, the speaker is encouraging each reader to seek out his or her own personal path in the journey of life. Romanticizing the rural woods of New England creates the perfect setting for the theme of self discovery laid out and described by the speaker. Robert Frost s original intent in writing the poem was not to convey the inspiration that it has for almost a hundred years. He had written the poem to poke fun at his friend, Edward Thomas, with whom he had taken many walks. Thomas was hesitant and always wondering what would happen if he had chosen a different path (http://www.yoga.com/raw/readings/frost_road.html). In fact, Frost sent the poem to his friend, then in France, and got the response, ?What are you trying to do with me?? (http://www.libarts.sfasu.edu/Frost/PopPoems.html). However, Frost did see the impact the poem was having and stated, Do not follow where the path may lead?Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. The speaker communicates many things in the first stanza of the poem. The first line, ?Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,? uses imagery with the color yellow, the color of gold, to show that the speaker sees an opportunity ahead of him. The two roads symbolizes the choices and consequences he must choose. The next line, ?And sorry I could not travel both,? illustrates how difficult it is to make a choice. It is impossible not to wonder what could happen by choosing the other road and what he could be missing out on. ?And being one traveler long I stood,? shows how the speaker would like to be in two places at once. Unable to accomplish this, he takes a long time to decide on what he should do. Finally, the speaker describes studying the first option, looking as far into the future as he possibly could with the lines, ?And looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth.? The speaker continues to convey his message in the second stanza of ?The Road Not Taken.? In the opening line of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unequivocally, this is extremely accurate, and one can name many events that pertain to this topic. Personally, I believe that it is important to speak your beliefs and share your opinions. One reason is that many opportunities are lost is due to the fact that people choose not to speak up. Many avoid speaking up because of peer pressure and the desire of fitting in. They are fearful of being judged if they choose or believe the wrong thing. At times, the average population thinks it is better to keep quiet; although, in reality, it can bring significant consequences by not communicating. It does take courage to speak up, but half if not most of the time it leads to positive outcomes. It is imperative to stand for your beliefs because it can make a difference whether it is minute or substantial. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 12. Clams Are Great Pollution Detectors By Susan Linville In the past, clams have been used to locate sources of pollution in bodies of water. They get their food, as well as performing gas exchange, through the process of filter feeding (Linville). This entails taking water inside of their shells and filtering it through their gills to trap food particles and exchange gas (Linville). When doing this, they bring in the food particles they need to survive and have the potential to bring in other materials such as toxic substances or pollutants (Linville). This also allows for the clams to clean the water, improving water quality (Stanford). When the clams bring in these substances, scientists are able to then analyze the tissue of the gills and find out which substances they brought in. This ability ... • 13. William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar Essay Power is a highly coveted mistress. She is sought after by senators, presidents, kings, and emperors. Most of them willing to do whatever it takes to get her. The history of this world is overrun with conflict and war as different parties compete for her hand. There are those that will obtain her by physical force on the battlefield, while others seduce her to their side through sweet persuasion. However, the act of obtaining power is nothing compared to the work of keeping her. Power is an unfaithful mistress, in need of constant wooing. In William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, the battle for power is always in a state of flux, constantly changing hands. Though the players in this play sometimes use physical force to obtain power, it is persuasion and manipulation that have the strong hold on her. Through close examination of this text, the use of persuasion and manipulation in obtaining and maintaining power will be explored. When the play first opens there is a celebration in the streets because Julius Caesar has proven victorious over Pompey in battle. A poll is where people are asked to give their opinions on a subjective or objective matter. A poll diverges into nine types; benchmark polls, tracking polls, bushfire polls, entrance polls, exit polls, deliberative opinion polls, opinion polls, push polls and straw polls. A benchmark poll is generally a short and simple survey of respondent s opinion designated to help political candidates craft their campaigns. Tracking polls are repeated over several consecutive days to create a picture of where opinion is moving over time, to enable a rough report of the campaigns. The bushfire polls are polls taken during the period between the benchmark and tracking polls. The number of brushfire polls taken by a campaign is determined by how competitive the race is and how much money the campaign has to spend. These polls usually focus on likely voters and the ... At first glance the common adage, Necessity is the mother of all inventions, appears to account for the character of Robinson Crusoe; however, further analysis suggests that the intelligence, industriousness, and optimism are inherent to Crusoe s personality. • 16. The Benefits Of Negative Visualization By Oliver Burkeman Throughout generations, people believed that having positive visualizations can make situations better, however when you are in a situation that gives you a negative outcome you become devastated. Oliver Burkeman in his essay, The Benefits of Negative Visualization discusses how negative visualization is more likely to make people happier than positive visualization. Burkeman supported that negative visualization makes an individual happier rather than positive visualization; he supported this claim by describing how spending time and focusing on how well things would go reduces one s motivation to achieve their goal. Tranquility gives individuals the opportunity to focus on negative emotions, positive thinkers are less prepared and more acutely distressed, negative visualization causes less stress, and being prepared for the worst case scenario helps establish what to expect. When using negative visualization, it would be beneficial to use it to prepare oneself for the worst case scenarios and to reduce both fear and anxiety. In regards to Burkeman s position, I can relate to the information he is presenting and apply it to my personal life. Therefore, I can strongly agree with his point of view that negative visualization is more likely to make an individual happier than positive visualization. (topic sentence) Before I tried out for Track and Field, I imagined myself getting a bad time running my mile, imagining how half way into the mile I would be puffing for air, my sides beginning to burn, and I would be struggling to breathe. This was something that was unnecessary for me to think about considering I would do the mile twice a week for regular physical education. When it came to throwing both the shot put and the discus I imagined myself struggling to pick up the eight pound shot put and having it roll out of my hand because my fingers were not able to stand the weight of it. How I d go pick up the discus and I d be unable to hold on to it right, even if it was similar to a Frisbee. Reflection On Classwork My lesson began as class usually does, with students completing the Do Now up on the board: having notebooks and pencils ready, picking up the warm up sheet from the back, and writing the homework in their planner. Since there was no homework from the previous day, we were able to go right into the warm up. I walked around the classroom to make sure students had the warm up and were beginning to work. Students were unusually quiet, probably due to the camera and Keith s presence, so I reminded them that they were allowed to discuss the warm up. After the students had about 5 minutes to work on the warm up, I displayed a blank warm up using the document camera and asked for students to share their answers. I asked an additional question about what the scale factor was for the triangles and modeled using the scale factor to find the missing side lengths. pointed out to students that all the fraction questions related to a pair of corresponding side lengths in the triangles from the first question, recalling that we could use fractions to represent or find corresponding sides in similar shapes. • 20. The Birth Of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin The birth of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin on June 6, 1799 ushered in a period of revolution in Russian literature. Pushkin s noble upbringing afforded him the opportunity to study under French and Russian tutors, which lead to his passion and interest in poetry and prose work. After studying at the Imperial Lyceum, Pushkin first published his work in The Messenger of Europe, a Russian journal, at age 15. The censorship of Tsar Nicolaus I had a profound effect on his works, which had themes that were at times unsettling to the autocrat of Russia. Pushkin did not have his own style, but instead used the ideas of other to form his own unique style (Merrimen). Pushkin believed that it was important to not only write an interesting story, but also to write poetry or prose an elegant, precise, polished, and well executed way (Leatherbarrow 368). Pushkin s major theme dealt with the balance of light, darkness, fire, and coldness, and then relating these ideas to social and political occurrences in his homeland (Skorov 573 574). Among Russian literary critics, Pushkin has received superstardom for his use of language to articulate his ideas in a way that many others could not, but, in other countries around the world, the same appreciation for Pushkin s work does not exist. Scholars attest this to the difficulty in translating Tsar Nicolaus native language, which was not present in Western Europe during Pushkin s life (Emerson 653 654). • 22. Essay On Unicamerality In Nebraska The Nebraska legislature is different from other state legislatures. What makes Nebraska different to begin with, is the fact that it is a non partisan unicameral. Although, the unicameral only has one house it operates in basically the same manners as all others and faces problems like those bicameral legislatures in other states. However, Nebraska takes pride in the fact that its state legislature is non partisan and that it works across party lines to make it a better state. Yet, some inside the legislature do not believe this to be the case. The intent George Norris had when creating the unicameral was to bring people and let them participate in the legislative process. Within a state s legislature partisanship and polarization are present and so they are something that also affects the unicameral. Nebraska s non partisanship is being threatened by polarization. However, what causes this polarization in a state which has a non partisan unicameral. There is very limited literature on the unicameral and the problems it faces. Nevertheless, I intend to examine literature concerning legislatures to figure out what is occurring in the unicameral that is causing the non partisanship to erode. I believe that Nebraska is a unique state in the way that its government operates and therefore an interesting case to study. I think that there are a couple of important factors like term limits and the influence of interest groups that might be at play and are contributing to the partisanship being observed within the unicameral. First, I will examine the literature and discuss possible variables that affect non partisanship. Second, I will relate the relevant literature to my internship experience. Third, I will provide a reflection on my time at the unicameral. Lastly, I will provide concluding remarks and direction on where research ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Cover Songs Comparison In the music industry, it is not uncommon for original songs to be rerecorded and altered by other artists resulting in what is known as a cover song. One example of this situations occurrence can be seen in Vance Joy s indie folk pop song, Riptide , that was famously covered by pop and country crossover artist, Taylor Swift. Overall, there are many factors that go into the relationship between an original and cover song and the artists of each song. Such as both artist s connection to the song and the relationship between the artists themselves. There are also differences between the original and cover songs themselves including song structure, instrumentation, vocals, lyrics, and lyrical meaning. Vance Joy and Taylor Swift met for the first time backstage in New York at the Late Night Show with David Letterman (Whitney). By the time for their first meeting, Swift had already covered Joy s hit single, Riptide , on a British radio station and announced her invitation for Joy to join her as the opening act on her international 1989 tour (Adams). Though Joy is an indie folk pop singer and Swift a country, pop singer, the two managed to join their audiences together and create continued mass popularity for Riptide as well as promote listeners of both genres to hear the two perform at the 1989 tour. As Joy was used to performing in smaller venues, the packed auditoriums that Swift s tour filled were a new experience for him and encouraged him to step outside his ... • 30. Cochlear Implant Research On The Deaf Community Monica Lopez Block 3 ASL II May 15, 2015 Cochlear Implant Research Paper A cochlear implant is an ear adequate size complex electronic device. This electronic is used to provide sound to a person who is completely deaf or to a high intense hard of hearing. This product has had a great impact in the deaf community and has continued to evolve for over 40 years. There is two parts to getting this type of implant; the internal and external part. The external part consists of a microphone, a transmitter, and a speech processor. The microphone is a small like box that sits right behind the ear to pick up sounds. A speech processor works together with the microphone and transmitter which is under the skin to computerize the coded signals that have been analyzed in the speech processor. With the internal part of this implant it is surgically implanted by drilling in the temporal bone and mastoid bone. To the internal part there is two parts, the receiver and the electrodes. The receiver takes the coded signals that came from the transmitter and sends them to the array of electrodes that were surgically implanted in the cochlea. The electrodes stimulate the fibers of the hearing nerves, and make the sounds recognizable. The inventor of the cochlear implant is Graeme Clark. This Australian doctor was inspired by his deaf father. Clark started doing research in 1967 on a device that would enable for someone to hear. • 31. Marxist Reading Of Dracula In 1897 Bram Stoker wrote Dracula, a novel that would permanently alter society s perception of the modern vampire. The story is based loosely on the actions of a violent, bloodthirsty prince named Vlad the Impaler who ruled over Romania in the 1400 s. The story of Dracula closely mimics the way in which society functions in response to power. The Marxist theory can be applied to the novel, displaying society s response to upper class power. The novel exemplifies the effects of unequal social classes, abuse of power and manipulation of the proletariat. Evidently, the Marxist theory allows the reader to see the socio economic impact of their leaders as displayed in literature. It provides the reader with insight regarding the value of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He uses his social status and wealth as a way to achieve his malicious goal of transforming London into a vampire hub. Dracula buys large amounts of real estate, gold and other materialistic items as a way to get closer to his goal. In the novel, Dracula uses a fake name to buy multiple estates so that he can have lairs all over Europe. According to the Marxist theory, the upper class is more inclined to use exploitation as a means to move forward. Dracula uses people as pawns for his own personal gain. In chapter two, Dracula says, I have been so long master that I would be master still, or at least that none other should be master of me (Stoker, 27). Clearly, Dracula acknowledges his own power. He refuses to be under the command of another. Evidently, Dracula is confident in his own abilities. He believes that because of his title, he will easily be able to get his way. When Dracula speaks of London, the audience sees his longing and desperation to have power there. On page 27 he says, Well, I know that, did I move and speak in your London, none there are who would not know me for a stranger. That is not enough for me. Here I am noble (Stoker, 27). Dracula feels the need to exercise control everywhere he goes. In today s society, it is not uncommon to see a person in a position of power, abuse their privileges. For example, in 1975 Indira Gandhi got in trouble for committing election fraud. This is a prime example of someone believing it is acceptable for them to alter the rules for their own personal gain. Marxism in literature displays the importance of holding those in power accountable for their actions. Another example of Dracula s abuse of power is seen when he moves from Romania to London. Dracula is obsessed with the need to attain more power, therefore he is not satisfied with only Romanian people. He believes he can obtain more victims in London. Furthermore, he takes what ... Drawing from different philosophers who have studied the human condition, they look at the principle of ownership in relation to one s sense of self. Aristotle claims that tangible ownership is fundamental to developing a person s character. However, in Jean Paul Sartre s view, he claims that the existence precedes the essence . Paul lost his mother and has an unstable relationship with his father. This quote expresses the hatred and disgust that Paul has towards his home and he will do anything to avoid coming home.
