Persuasive Essay About Being In High School
Being in highschool can be really tough, trust me, I never thought I d make it this far honestly. There
are some things that you should know about seniors; most of the time, everything that you guys do
irritate most of us. Mostly because you guys don t know how to act like high schoolers yet, it s only
been just a few days since school started. Some advice that I could give you is to just have fun, do
your work, but have fun. You ll never have fun throughout high school if you don t have any friends,
so talk to people and make new friends. Some may stay and some could only last a few months but
there is no reason to get butt hurt over losing a friend, you ll make more. You also need to choose your

Not everything is picture perfect like in movies. You meet your, high school sweetheart, and you live
happily ever after...yada yada yada, whatever. High school dating can actually suck because you risk
breaking up on bad terms and then have to see them everyday because their in one or more of your
classes. So my advice is that you shouldn t rush into relationships with someone during high school
unless you can see them in the future. Boys aren t everything. Do your homework! It s not cool to be
failing every class just because your friend is too. There are too many classes that you have to go to
and the more work you don t do, the more work piles up that you d have to spend weekends straight
just working on them. We re all procrastinators to some degree and if you know how to listen to it then
you ll do just fine in school. Last but not least, just have fun. Four years go by quick in high school
and you ll be looking back on the years, wondering where they went. You might also regret not doing
something that you always wanted to try just because you were afraid. The more you do the better you
look as a student, but don t stress yourself ouch too

Blues Music Introductory Exercise
Procedures: (all sections consist of clearly stated sequential steps)
V. Introduction (The Launch)
Introductory Exercise
This exercise explores song elements and looks closely at the blues song format. Ask students to bring
the lyrics of a favorite song to class (reminding them beforehand what appropriate and inappropriate
choices would be). Start by discussing the lyrical parts of a song:
Verses In a song, a verse is a group of lines that constitutes a unit (similar to verses in poetry).
Typically, a song consists of several verses, and the rhyme scheme and rhythm are usually the same
from verse to verse.
Chorus A song s refrain (verse that repeats itself at given intervals throughout the song).
Bridge Transitional passage connecting two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

viewing, discuss:
How do Sam Phillips and Ike Turner view the borrowing of blues music by white artists differently?
Why might Turner have been less approving of such borrowing than Phillips?
How is this borrowing different from floating verses as previously discussed?
Why might black blues artists in the 1950s not have seen white artists borrowing as a compliment?
Do cultural differences come into play when assessing appropriate and inappropriate

Art Nouveau By Edward Burne Jones From The Pre-...
Art nouveau is a elegant decorative art style characterized by ornate patterns of curvilinear lines. This
period of art somewhat rooted from the a mixture of the Arts and Crafts movement, William Morris,
Edward Burne Jones from the Pre Raphaelites and the Japanese style. It became popular across
Europe and the in United States. Art Nouveau as a style is a beautiful mixture of elaborate Celtic
looking patterns, classical elements, flat color and delicate women in nature. This style breaks the
traditional forms from the previous time periods but at the same time, carries it through. These
designers in this time, presented this work as organic forms with rich imagery. Such as Alphonse
Mucha; which he today, is considered the father of this time period, and master of this style. This era
correlates with the brotherhood of the Pre Raphaelites, and with inspirations from the early
Renaissance painters. A melting pot of these famous time periods produced the Art nouveau
movement.
The Art nouveau movement started in Europe around 1890 s and lasted until 1910. It took on many
different characteristics and tried to express the modern world through it s illustrations. There were
many influences and themes across the works and style of Art nouveau. The many designers of this
time looked at past famous works as a foundation and created more of a graphical format within these
Art Nouveau works. Art nouveau designers such as Alphonse Mucha found his greatest inspiration in

Harry Potter Vs Gandaulf Research Paper
Harry vs. Frodo, Ron vs. Sam, Sirius vs. Aragorn. In Harry Potter vs. Lord if the rings there are many
comparisons but the most controversial one is Dumbledore vs. Gandalf. Both are wizards, both are
mentors, both are very powerful, both are very wise, and run the show when they are around, but by
the end of this paper you will learn that one is better than the other and that Is Dumbledore. Let start
with the basics, as I stated they are both wizards. The biggest differences between the two are that
Dumbledore lives about one hundred fifteen years before his planned death while Gandalf is
practically a god of sorts and lives two thousand plus years before sailing off in a ship never to be seen
again. But what matters is that in Dumbledore s one hundred fifteen or so years he acquired more
power among the people and more knowledge than Gandalf did in his two thousand something years.

Throughout the whole series Gandalf is foiling the dark lord s plans and keeping Harry safe. In the last
part of the series when Harry takes Snape s tears to the pensive you get a really good look at just how
much Dumbledore knows. He even knew that Malfoy would be sent to kill him but it would be better
in the long run if Snape did it, he also knew that in the end Harry would have to die so that the part of
Voldemort that lived inside of him could die. Dumbledore knew it all. Gandalf was very intelligent he
was even said to be the wisest of the Maiar. But throughout the series he relies on luck, brute power,
and old connections to defeat Sauron. In the movies he never really seemed to know exactly what was
going to happen in order for his forces to beat the orcs and other nasty creatures fighting for Sauron.
He did know that he had to keep the attention on the war in order for Frodo to have enough time to get
the ring into the mountain of doom I ll give him that

A Long Link Of Barricaded Police Struggles
A long link of barricaded police struggles to hold the throng in place away from the bank. Open the
doors! the crowd shouts as they propel themselves to split the links; the police sustain them back like a
stretching elastic rope. A common scene in the 1890s, citizens confronting banks for their money
though banks had none. We want our money! The poor citizens shout out in unison. Major economic
recessions of the 1890s, notably the panic of 1893, was heralded by cycles of disbeliefs that
destabilized public confidence and weakened the nation. Prominent historians of the website
ushistory.com argue that one response to the failures was an expansion in business associations.
However, they also showed that; the poorer elements of society assumed they had been ignored during
the hard times and then were left at the mercy of the trusts. (1) In reality, the same historians declare;
the reform efforts of the last quarter of the 19th century had not been sufficient; new leadership was
needed for the next century. This leadership ascended from the National Association of Manufactures
(NAM), initiated in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1895. Already affirmed, The United States was in the middle
of the recessions. Scores of the country s manufacturers wanted to export their products in other
countries. One of the NAM s endeavors was to call for the establishment of the U.S. Department of
Commerce (CC). Initially, NAM lead the attack on labor organization and government regulation.

Air Pollution And Bone Pollution
It is not only the lungs that can be damaged by air pollution. Even bones are in danger for people
whose homes are near polluted areas, a new research, published in Lancet Planetary Health, from
Columbia University, said.
After studying the records of more than 9 million people, researchers at the University discovered that
slight increases in airborne particles from vehicle emissions are linked to lower bone density. Pollution
likely affects the production of key hormones and bone minerals that lead to osteoporosis, The
Telegraph reported.
Parallel studies
Dr. Andrea Baccarelli, from the University s Mailman School of Public Health, warned that exposure
to high levels of fine particulate matter in the air could speed up the loss of bone density and boost the
risk of bone fracture. Similar to the toxic substance found in cigarette smoke, air pollution could cause
inflammation and oxidative stress and lead to bone loss, The Malay Mail Online reported. The
researchers made two parallel studies. The first study looked into hospital admissions between 2003
and 2010 for fractures related to osteoporosis in patients older than 65 years old. Their finding was
that even minute hikes in PM2.5 concentrations can lead to an increase in bone fractures among
seniors.
The scientists followed 692 males from low income groups in Boston in the second study for the same
seven year period. The average age of the respondents was 47 years old. The researchers discovered
that adults who live in

Morocco is a diverse country with a strong culture. Morocco had a hard time in establishing its

century the Phoenicians invaded and established trading posts. The Phoenician settlements were
occupied by the Carthaginian invaders. In the 2nd century the Romans sent away the Carthaginians

Spainish influenced by French, and Portuguese in the 15th century. There was a slave trade in
Morocco, slaves would come to Morocco to try and go to Spain, but instead were executed. Spain and
Portugal invaded Morocco and developed a settlement. Spain was the European country that colonized
Morocco. Spain wanted more power over different countries. Morocco gained independence in 1957
under the rulership of Muhammad H. The independence opened up freedoms in the country and Spain
gave back their holdings in Morocco.

The Confederate Flag And Its Controversy
In my paper I will be discussing the Confederate Flag and its controversy in history and in todays
views. The Confederate flag has been a negative symbol in American society since the 1800 s. It has
been only recently that the Confederate flag has been brought back to life as a contemporary issue. In
recent times the flag has been used as a motivation for racial strikes and other rebellious acts bring the
issues of the flag and the controversy behind it back to life. The major questions I seek to answer in
this essay it why the controversy of the Confederate flag only been brought back up recently and why
the confederate flag was created the way it was. And the overall motivation behind its creation. The
Confederate flag has only recently been brought back as an issue because of the recent racial attacks
and an overall rebellious acts that swear under the confederate flag, back in the early 1860 s the
confederate flag was first used to represent the southern states because the south was wanting to
secede from the northern states. Because of the major shooting in Charleston controversy behind the
confederate flag sparked back up. Major retailers like Walmart and Amazon and stopping the sale of

Native Americans Essay
Native Americans have inhabited this country for many generations. We see so many things that are
influenced by the Native Americans and we find ourselves in awe of the independence of these
peoples and the culture that they have come from.
When we look at art through the eyes of the Native American we should see a functional and usable
art. Art was not for aesthetic reasons; it had real purpose. The folk art that came from these cultures
were for religious and moral reasons. Everything that these people had had a necessity in their group.
The Kachina is one of these necessities.

Comparing The Architecture Of Sears And Montgomery Ward
Sears and Montgomery Ward catalog homes are a hallmark of innovation in American architecture and
history, with this in mind our team went about renovating the experimental Maytown, a classic
example of architectural focus on practical composition. Designed and fabricated during the pre 1900
era, The house parallels the time period s functional yet ornate approach to architecture and design.
The exterior Queen Anne design of this piece of Americana is a prime example of the convergence of
architectural styles, coextending the converging cultures of pre 1900s America. This is why our team
decided to continue this architectural theme throughout the addition, and detached garage. This was
accomplished through the repetition of the key design

Proposition 140 In California
Dating back to its admission into statehood, reform has been an undeniable element of California. It
could even be argued that many important landmarks in our state history were defined by acts of
reform, such as the implementation of direct democracy into its state constitution during the
progressive era of the late 19th and early 20th century. In modern California, it could be argued that
there has been no greater landmark than the passage of Proposition 140. In short, Proposition 140 was
an initiated constitutional amendment that sought to reform several key aspects of its own state
legislature. One such reform limited the amount the of expenditures the legislature could spend on
staff. Another reform barred state legislatures from earning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

During the 1980s, the California legislature had built a reputation as one of the most professional
legislatures in the country and for good reason. For one, the legislature enjoyed relatively low turnover
rates between 1979 and 1989, with the assembly ranked in the 16th country and the senate ranked 3rd
(Petracca, pg.11). But, following implementation of Proposition 140, instability was very pronounced
in the in the first years particularly in the assembly. For the first 8 years after the implementation of
term limits, speakers of the assembly were generally inexperienced and ineffective, lasting only for
budgets and an election. It was not until the appointment of John A. Perez in 2009, that the assembly
began to stabilize Another aspect of instability and ineffectualness of the assembly has been its
committees. Due inexperience of assemblymen, the process of identifying flawed legislation through
gatekeeping has not been used as effectively as it has in the past. Prior to term limits, the percentage of
failed bills stood at around 36.3%. After term limits, it was 23.3%. So, without experienced

Human Mind Control
OCD is a phrase that gets to the existential core of worry, a clenched, demonic doubting that overrides
evidence, empiricism, plain common sense (Slater234). The meme theory states that a meme consists
of everything that is passed from person to person (Blackmore 37). In Strange Creatures by Susan
Blackmore and Who Holds the Clicker? by Lauren Slater both authors discuss the control humans
have over their minds. In Who Holds the Clicker Lauren Slater discusses DBS (deep brain
simulation), which is a type of psychosurgery in which electrical impulses are sent to certain portions
of the brain to control and change the emotions one feels. She discusses both the positive and
negatives of deep brain simulation through a specific patient named Mario and also presents the
control DBS can have over one s mind. Similarly, Blackmore in Strange Creatures discusses the meme
theory, which consists of any idea that is passed down from person to person. Both authors provide
information that allows people to draw conclusions relating to why people do not have control over
their minds. Even though some people believe that humans do have control over their minds,
Blackmore and Slater both successfully portray that in actuality humans do not have any control over
their minds because human thoughts and ideas are unoriginal products of external forces, many human
thoughts occur at deeper level of consciousness, and

Elizabethan Era Beauty
Beauty in the Elizabethan Era and Much Ado About Nothing Throughout history, literature has been a
way for people to expand their viewpoint and appreciate the world around them through different
cultures and traditions presented in a story. C. S. Lewis explains that through literature; We seek an
enlargement of our being. We want to be more than ourselves (137). This explains that through
literature, people learn lessons and read because they want to learn from these lessons and better
themselves. Many influential writers throughout history have brought different ideas and lessons that
have helped shape the society we know today. One writer who has had a tremendous impact on
society is William Shakespeare. Shakespeare s works are still well read and can be related to today
even though the Elizabethan Era in which he lived in is different from the culture of the modern
world. However, the Elizabethan Era still has aspects of its society that can resonate with that of the
modern day. One of those aspects is the stereotypes that women were faced with during the
Elizabethan Era. The Elizabethan Era was a time of social reform for women. Though women became
more educated and seen in a different light than what they were used to, the era in no way brought
them to the equivalence of a women in today s society. Women were still seen as inferior by men and
men still believed they were the greatest creation in the world. Tim Stretton states, In almost every

Good Food Revolution Analysis
In the book Good Food Revolution, it focuses on the main point of Will Allen s life and how he has
always been around food. I believe the book does a good job with tying in different connections and
references with food and with Will Allen since he has grown up around food ever since he was little.
When the book states The fate of a seed can be predicted by the health of the soil where it takes the
root I believe that Will Allen is referring and connecting it back to himself. I believe he relates this to
himself because a plant s roots are surrounded by soil and Will Allen has planted his roots around
farming and food. A plant needs soil to survive and Will Allen needed farming to survive. His whole
life and job has revolved around planting. A plant lives off of what it knows and its surroundings and
Will Allen did the same. His parents planted the seed to get the initial start in farming so he picks up
where they left off. Even though he was not into farming when he was younger he learned to grow and
find a passion for farming as he grew older because it has always been around him. No matter where
he went he held onto farming because that is all he knew. I believe this connection between Will Allen
and the quote about the plant enhances and helps tell the story of how Will Allen got involved in
farming.
The connection The Good Food Revolution tries to also make is between ecology and human
development. Ecology is about dealing with relations of organisms to one another

Wild Style (1983) was a film that documented the real world of hip hop before most people even knew

It exhibits many famous DJs and groups from that time. Freestyle MCing is shown with rare footage
of one of the godfathers of hip hop, Grandmaster Flash, pulling off an awesome scratch mix set.
During this time it was not uncommon for scenes such as the ones in the movie to occur in black
discos. Robert Ford, Jr. presents this idea in Jive Talking N.Y. DJs Rapping Away in Black Discos , by
saying that rapping DJs reminiscent of early r b radio jocks ... are making an impressive comeback
here not in radio but in black discos where a jivey rap commands as much attention as the hottest new

This film also slightly expresses some of the racial segregation in hip hop that goes on during the time
period between African Americans and Puerto Ricans. Juan Flores shows this in Puerto Rocks: Rap,
Roots, and Amnesia when he describes the struggles that Charlie Chase, a member of the Cold Crush
Brothers, goes through due to the fact that he is of Puerto Rican decent when the rest of the members
are all African American (71 78). In the movie, this can be seen when the members of the Cold Crush
Brothers have a street battle with Fantastic Freaks. In this scene one can tell that there is only one
member who is Puerto Rican in both groups and they never speak a Spanish word in the battle or
throughout the movie itself. Flores explains this in Puerto Rocks when he says that:

Meningitis Essay
In nineteenth century Geneva, a family came down with a strange disease one that had never
previously been diagnosed. In a short time, many people in their town were infected and thirty three
people were left dead. This strange disease was later determined to be meningitis. In 1806, the United
States saw its first outbreak of meningitis in Massachusetts. It was not until 1887, however, that
Professor Anton Weichselbaum was able to determine a cause of meningitis: a bacterium called
Neisseria meningitides. Penicillin was first used to combat meningitis in 1944, and in 1978, a vaccine
became available. The usage of vaccines was detrimental in the battle to gain control over the spread

Nesseria meningitides can be part of the normal flora of the upper part of the respiratory tract (19). It
is a pathenogenic, gram negative aerobe, which resides primarily in mucous membranes. The shape of
the bacterium is diplococci (11). Nesseria meningitides is heterotrophic and reproduces by way of
binary fission (12).
Viral meningitis is more common, but not nearly as severe (8). It is hardly ever fatal and mostly
caused by enteroviruses. Other viruses can induce a person to contract viral meningitis. These include:
mumps, herpes, measles, and varicella zoster. Even an infection from a mosquito bite could potentially
turn into a case of viral meningitis (4)! Fungal meningitis, which can also be deadly, is mostly caused
by Cryptococcus and Candida. The people affected with fungal meningitis are mostly those who have
an inadequate immune system (3). A person may not know he or she has meningitis right away. Many
symptoms are analogous to the flu. These symptoms include a stiff neck, headache, fever, chills,
nausea, light sensitivity, and possible changes in mental state (8). Even after a person recovers from
meningitis, they can still suffer from long term effects such as brain damage, kidney damage, loss of
hearing, amputations, and scarring (6). To accurately diagnose meningitis, a lumbar puncture, or spinal
tap, is performed and tests are run on the cerebrospinal fluid

Canibao, Garcia Ayuso and Rueda (1999) examined accounting data taken from Spanish companies,
showing that the joint explanatory power of earnings and book values has not declined in the latest
decades. However, their results demonstrated a slight decline in the marginal explanatory power of
book values in relation to earnings. The usefulness of accounting data in business evaluation was,
also, evidenced by Ou and Penman (1989), Ohlson (1989, 1995) and Penman (1996). They explained
a company s internal value by using accounting parameters and concluded that they can be used to
identify stocks that have not been properly evaluated. Ī¤hey, also, expressed the view that the book
value and earnings form the primary accounting variables which are used to interpret stock prices.
Their findings are, also, supported by the empirical studies conducted by Lev (1996) and Francis and

found that the explanatory power of accounting variables has declined. On the other hand, Collins,

Importance Of Confidentiality In Schools
The aims and objectives of confidentiality are to ensure that there are clear instructions of on the limits
of information exchange and these guidelines are followed when passing on knowledge about pupils.
Confidential information includes medical records, discussions, registers, statements, comments,
carers, reports and opinions. Information is to be shared on a Ć¢ā‚¬Å“need to knowĆ¢ā‚¬ basis, meaning that
only the staff working closely with the child or giving special training are entitled to know certain
information. This includes information about a childĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢s allergies, special educational needs or

misused. The school policy on confidentiality provides sufficient guidelines for staff about the
everyday practice of information sharing. The confidentiality policy has its legal roots in documents
like Every Child Matters, the Children Act 2004 and the Data Protection Act 1998. According to these
laws the school is only entitled to ask for information that is directly relevant to the education of the
child. This information is considered confidential and must only be used for the purpose it was
gathered for. It concerns health and medical information, records form previous schools and records
for special educational needs.

started in a small workshop in Gmund, Austria, where the first sports car was released in June of 1948.
Since then Porsche has grown into a thriving company that is associated with the beautiful sports cars
they produce. Porsche SE Group is an automobile manufacturing company that produces vehicles
under the Porsche brand and also produces a variety of brands that fall under the Volkswagen umbrella
of the company. Porsche s has grown into one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world.
Throughout this paper, we will assess the financial performance and condition of the Porsche SE
Group, as well as, providing an analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
(SWOT) in relation to this company. In addition, company decisions will be analyzed for quality.
Also, a few recommendations for improving the company will be provided. Porsche was founded in
1930 by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche as an automotive design and engineering company (Funding Universe,
ND.). He had a reputation to be one for designing innovative cars and even attacked the attention of
Aldof Hitler. There was soon a collaboration between Porsche and Hitler, which resulted in the 1939
production of the Type 60 KdF Wagen (Price, 2006, p58). The car designed by Porsche was known as
the people s car , rather than a Volkswagen, however the car was called the Beetle by the German

Despite huge efforts in child and adolescent mental health care service, most therapies finish without
achieving the therapy goals. Even though therapeutic relationship forms the health professionals
standards, central to mental health care and is important to therapeutic atmosphere (Gilburt, Rose

Zohar Sefirot Symbolism
The imagery and symbolism are rich and fluid, but they follow a pattern, the pattern of the sefirot. The
Zohar rarely describes the entire sefirotic system. It even avoids the term sefirot and instead speaks of
lights, levels, links, roots, garments of the King, crowns of the king, and dozens of other images for
the individual sefirot. The reader must interpret the symbolism and identify the corresponding sefirah.
The term originally meant numbers or numerical potencies, but in medieval Kabbalah the sefirot
became stages of God s being, aspects of divine personality. Their pattern and rhythm inform all the
worlds of creation. Prior to the release of the sefirot, God is unmanifest, referred to as Ein Sof,
Infinite. God as Infinity cannot be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It reports teachings from the Academy of Heaven and from the mouth of the prophet Elijah. An entire
imaginary library provides proof texts whenever necessary. Its fantastic catalog includes the Book of
Adam, the Book of Enoch, the Book of Wisdom of King Solomon, the Book of Rav Hamnuna Sava,
the Book of Rav Yeiva Sava, and the Book of Rav Yeisa Sava. The Zohar cites our Mishnah or the
mystery of our Mishnah when the acual source is another Zohar passage or medieval Kabbalah. Such
is the nature of Torah, according to the Zohar: Torah removes a word from her sheath, is seen for a
moment, and then quickly hides away... She does so only for those who know her intimately. The
Zohar does the same. It hides more than it reveals; only the careful, devoted reader can learn from it. It
is a common experience to read several lines of Zohar, or an entire passage, and then wonder what the
message was. Cascading imagery overwhelms coherent teaching. But that is the nature of the subject
matter: ... the whole spectrum of colors flashing, disappearing. Those rays of color do not wait to be
seen; they merge into the fusion of Zohar. The Zohar yearns to reveal the divine light permeating
Torah, but since that dimension of meaning is beyond words, words are employed as symbols. Torah
becomes a treasure house of symbols, pointing to that which cannot be expressed. Imagination

The Leadership and experience of Samuel Chapman Armstrong, during the Civil War mainly caused
his legacy displayed by one of his most influential students, Booker T. Washington. Booker T.

Dystopia In The Hunger Games
Ender Ho
Prof Jawad Ali
LBST 301
April 2014
Dystopia has never been a stranger to the science fiction movie genre nor popular culture. Indeed,
Metropolis (1927), set in a futuristic urban dystopia, is regarded as the first feature length science
fiction movie; Professor Saul Tobias of California State University, Fullerton, assigns his Liberal
Studies 300 students to watch the dystopian science fiction thriller, Blade Runner; and The Hunger
Games movie series set opening day and opening weekend gross records in North America. Although
dystopian science fiction films are, by definition, works of fiction, they resonate with its viewers
because the realities of poverty, oppression, and violence depicted in the films are indeed realities in
the world in which the viewer lives.
The Hunger Games is a series that holds the imagination captive, as its stories deal with themes larger
than itself. The themes amidst the dystopian setting are the same ones its viewers wrestle with every
day: love, compassion, and justice in the midst of oppression. The dystopian story resonates with its
viewers because it leaves open the possibility that injustice and oppression can be overcome, but it
acknowledges that the process will be unpleasant and loaded with hardships. Yet for many this sort of
cinema represents the only honest way of imaginatively responding to the injustices in society. Films
like The Hunger Games series create space for conversation about oppressive systems in the world,

Born on February 15 1820, Susan B. Anthony was brought up in a Quaker family with long activist

Reflective Essay About Communication
Communication is extremely important between people, regardless of who they are and what they do.
It has been used for thousands of years to build and maintain relationships and has aided in our
survival. Not only is communication important but it is also important to know how to communicate
effectively. Throughout the semester, I have learned some important things about communicating and
how to do it effectively. The three most important lessons I learned are communication in
organizations, public speaking, and effective listening. Communicating in organizations is important,
and I feel will be especially important for me in the future as I plan to be a police officer. It is
communication upward, downward, lateral, internal, and external that defines an organization s
identity and how organizational members understand their roles and responsibilities (Wood, 210).
There must be structure within an organization to allow the members predictability and, so they can
understand their roles as well as procedures and the expectations of the organization they are in.
Within these organizations must be communication networks which allow links to be made between
people in a formal and informal fashion. One of the most important features of communication
networks in an organization is the structures within them, which organize relationships and
interactions between members (Wood, 218). These structures include roles, rules, policies, and
communication. Roles have to do with a

The Economic Downfall 7 Health care is an endless issue that we are facing. Health care is needed to
prevent, treat and manage illnesses. But, managing the United States economically makes it hard for
funding of our health care. There are many advantages to our health care system. Having Medicare or
Medicaid helps fund our individual medical costs. Both of these insurances are funded through our
government for every individual that cannot afford to pay for health care for themselves. The cost of
medical care is very expensive to individuals. Unexpected trips to the emergency room, having to visit

participants coming forward to take part in the study. The first couple, who, participated in the study
consisted of a wife who wanted to share her story and a husband who supported her. After completing
the individual interviews, the couple declined to participate in the joint interview. The couple
struggled with being childless and although they found ways to compensate via careers, education and

expressed such strong emotions and shared that discussing her infertility was a deep and powerful

Why I Want To Attend Boarding School
How did I get here? A question that finds its way to the front of my thoughts on almost nightly basis

America Should Pursue Alternative Energy Sources
In todays world the demand for more energy to power peoples electronic filled lives is ever growing.
Nations around the world are looking for ways to supply this much called for energy and are asking
the question should they make the move from traditional energy sources and turn to more renewable
alternatives? American has answered this question and is among the nations pursuing alternative
energy sources. America should pursue alternative energy sources because With only 5 percent of the
worlds population, the United States consumes almost one quarter (22.5%) of global energy . (((Josef
Bram, 15))) With such a small percentage of the world s population and still one of the largest
consumers of energy the U.S should be looking for new and better ways to generate energy. Currently
The U.S s energy is supplied using traditional sources. According to Canadian scientist and policy
analyst Vaclav Smil Todays energy 29% from coal, 33% from oil and gas, and 33% from soft energy
(alternative sources) (((Smil, 47))) Most of the energy we use on a daily basis is not produced using
clean methods. Some alternative energy sources that are already in place within the United Stats are
wind, solar, and hydraulic.
First, wind power is one alternative energy source that America should pursue. Wind power is one of
most noticeable of the main alternatives. The power of wind is captured using tall wind turbines or

Ideal Moral Code Analysis
John Arthur and Peter Singer have different views when it comes to Famine Relief and the Ideal Moral
Code . Both theories are intuitive; yet clash heads at the idea of an opinion other than their own. They
essentially both argue for what is our true duty. Peter Singer defends that we ought to prevent evil
whenever we can do so without sacrificing something of comparable moral significance (Famine
Relief and the Ideal Moral Code pg. 813) . He believes that we should donate at least half of our
earnings to people in absolute poverty, which in this case means poverty by any standard. He also says

After WWI Germany was a shadow of her former self; her economy was limping along like an injured

The civilization known as the Sumerians, developed in the Mesopotamia era, are considered to be the
first culture to become civilized. As the Sumerians settled in Mesopotamia, a class structure gradually
took shape which allowed them to progress their society. The second characteristic which shows the
civilization of the Sumerians was their ability to create progress in agricultural skills and techniques.
The final characteristic representative in the first culture of Mesopotamia is their contribution to the

The Effects Of Social Media On Society Today
These researchers were determined to find out if the fear of missing out (FOMO) correlates directly
with the use of social media in society today. There have been many concerns raised regarding the
over engagement of social media sites by young adults and adolescents today and the effects this use
may have on their mental health and general functioning. This paper is organized according to trends
that were identified in the findings of some of the reviewed scholarly sources.
Definiton
You, the reader, may be asking yourself, what exactly is the fear of missing out? The fear of missing
out also known as FOMO, is that uneasy and sometimes consuming feeling that you re missing out .

mission to find a diverse group of individuals to study and ensure that they all had differing
backgrounds in order to get an accurate representation of what is going on for all members of this
generation.
Perspective
In the past couple of years there has been a lot of research looking to find a correlation between social
media use and the fear of missing out. Before social media became such an epidemic the fear of
missing out and anxiety were not such a prevalent issue. Findings of a negative association between
self worth and the use of social media are offering a new insight into mental health. These findings are
giving caregivers an opportunity to offer patients a diagnosis as well as help if they come in struggling
with similar issues. Developing Trends in Ongoing FOMO Research
Social Media Use The most common thread throughout all of these researchers articles is the use of
social media. Baker, Krieger, and LeRoy express that FOMO relates to social media use both in its
experience thus, research on social media use is important to consider in the current investigation.

Inherit the Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee
One of the most controversial plays of its time is hands down, Inherit the Wind. The main debate
throughout the play is the debate between science and religion. A bit of a background for those that are
naive to the topic in this time period to follow. Small towns such as Hillsboro were very prone to
streamlined views in every possible topic of extremities such as religion to minor topics relative to
eateries, gossip, and small town politics. Lawrence and Lee do an exceptional job representing and
setting the scene of this town by painting the history of the play s main characters. They make a strong
point about the lack of strayed opinion as everyone is primarily religious in views and science is
taught according to the bible. In a sense it is wrong for one to have a mind or speak about views that
clash with what has been widely accepted in Hillsboro. Drummond is a notorious criminal defense
lawyer who openly voices his opinions about one s ability to think and have a valid opinion about racy
topics; anything that comes to mind. He is deemed atheist and uses his wit and knowledge of the
world to humiliate his nemesis (Brady). Drummond stems his argument from the townspeople s
tunneled vision of religion. He dissects the bible in its entirety and exposes its truths to all. The

living with the results of other people s thinking. Don t let the noise of others opinions drown out your
own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They
somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary . Steve Jobs,
Commencement address, Stanford University, June 12, 2005
Junior workshop is the first step to seeing your potential career. It is a time when you decide what you
want to explore and become in your life. Up until then the ideas come from other places, like your
friends or family. The workshop showed us what to do when you get your career. It provided some
useful skills such as how to find the right career path and how to conduct an interview. I wrote papers
that opened my mind and made me think about my future for the first time. In the Senior Mastery
program, we had a chance to work in a field and see what it would take and what people do in that
career. It gave me a unique experience than the description on the internet. I see that there is much ...

When my adult partner and I were thinking of a research question we also wanted something that I
could build a product from. We both went through many ideas of what we were going to do for a
product to answer this research question. The first one was a way that case managers can catalog the
different clients based on the severity of their disability. This was to increase efficiency in the
workplace and a more effective treatment plan for the individuals. The second idea was about the
increase in efficiency and effectiveness and would combine the first idea, and making it more by
group specialists.
We finally started narrowing down the choices and focused on the public and their

The Differences Of Christine De Pisan And Geoffrey Chaucer
Christine De Pisan and Geoffrey Chaucer are very important literature figures who lived during the
medieval age in Europe. They both had their significant works and their role in society. Pisan
contributed to draw attention to women s rights and equality between sexes, and Chaucer contributed
to enhance the English language. Christine De Pisan was a poet, a women s right activist and a
journalist who was born in 1364 in Venice, Italy. Pisan learned Latin, Philosophy, Literature and
Sciences known at the medieval age. She received the sort of education that was reserved for men of
her class. Christine was married to Ɖtienne du Castel at the age of fifteen. Castel was a member of the
French court. The couple enjoyed a relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chaucer s father was a wine merchant. In 1357, Chaucer became a servant to Countess Elizabeth,
Countess of Ulster, who was the wife of Duke of Clarence. Chaucer continued in the English court
throughout his lifetime. He died in October 25, 1400 in England and was buried in Westminster Abbey
s poet s corner. In 1359, Chaucer went off to flight in the Hundred Years War in France. He also
traveled to France, Spain and Italy on diplomatic missions. Chaucer was married to Philippa Roet, the
daughter of Sir Payne Roet in 1366. The couple had three or four children. This marriage helped
Chaucer s career in the English court, because Philippa s sister, Katherine Swynford was married to
John of Gaunt, the king s fourth son. In around 1370, Chaucer went on diplomatic missions again in
Florence and Genoa. These travels exposed him to the works of poets such as Dante, Boccaccio and

Explain Why Did Tsar Nicholas II Face Problems From 1906...
Why did Tsar Nicholas II continue to face problems from 1906 to 1914?
After the 1905 Revolution, the Tsar got a little taste of what was to come if he did not change the way
the country functioned. However too little was done too late and after war was declared and Stolypin s
assassination it was almost certain that there would be no more tsarist regime.
Nicholas II promised in the October Manifesto that a duma may be set up, so he can get some liberal
support. This was the first time the Tsar has tried at a democratic government. However what
displeased the people is what the Tsar had done in April 1906. He passed on the Fundamental Laws
which basically allowed him to overrule any decision of the Duma and that he would keep most of his
autocratic power. It seemed that nothing has changed after the 1905 Revolution. The first ... Show

Many historians believe that if there was no World War I, Stolypin would be able to save Russia by
resolving the peasant s discontent. As the peasants had no land of their own and the Mir was creating
major problems, the peasants were quite angry. Also they made up most of the population, which
showed that they must be taken seriously or they could do major damage to the country. Stolypin gave
the peasants the power to choose to leave the Mirs and join Kulaks freely. Because of this there were
some successes; record harvests in 1913 and production was increasing however it depended on the
region. The problem was that Stolypin was assassinated and nobody was there to continue his reforms.
However there were many peasants that were left without anything and they were forced to go to
towns and look for work. This new class of peasants were dangerous as they were easy targets for
radicalism. Also most of the land still was owned by the high class and not a lot has changed. The
peasants in Russia were not pleased as

What Did Those Feet In Ancient Time Mean
Figurative Meaning of And Did Those Feet in Ancient Time In And Did Those Feet in Ancient Time,
William Blake conveys through his narrator a short poem of aggression and of a drive to build the city
of Jerusalem in England; however, figuratively, Blake writes of he sees as the unbelievable time that
the young Jesus of Nazareth and Joseph of Arimathea visited England. Using figuratively language,
imagery, and symbolism, Blake describes this and how the narrator wishes to fight in the word of the
Bible and usher in Heaven on Earth. Throughout the poem, the narrator uses multiple types of
figurative language. Such figurative language includes plenty of metaphors, many biblical and Greek
mythological allusions, personification, euphemism, and alliterations. The figurative language changes
the entire meaning of the text. In the poem, the narrator is literally becoming aggressive and wants to
build the city of Jerusalem in England. However, with knowledge of figurative language, the reader
can understand that the narrator speaks in metaphors and Biblical allusions. The poem is about Jesus
of Nazareth and Joseph of Arimathea s visit to Glastonbury, England, and how the narrator wishes to
fight against blasphemous writings, against the wants of the body as opposed to the soul, and for the
ideas of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, figuratively these lines are a series of allusions to Greek mythology and possibly to the
Bible. The Bow of burning gold alludes to Apollo s golden bow that shoots burning arrows, and the
arrows of desire refer to Cupid s arrows of love, which is ironic because of the contrast and
similarities in the two s arrows. The Spear alludes to Zeus s lightning bolts and his ability to make the
clouds unfold. The Chariot of fire is the most curious because it can allude to both the chariot of
Apollo and the chariot that created the path to Heaven for Elijah in the

Compare Tom Regan, Carl Cohen and Peter Singer in Terms of...
Synthesis Tom Regan, Carl Cohen, Peter Singer Animal rights are one of the most controversial issues
today. There has been endless debate about whether or not animals have rights. Philosophers attempt
to come up with the moral conclusions by taking in account the many different standpoints and
presenting their related arguments. In his essay The case of animal rights , Tom Regan, a professor of
philosophy at North Carolina State University, defends his view that the center of our moral concern
should not bring the suffering on animal as well as treating animals in a certain way. In other words,
we should treat animals as if they are our property. We should only use them to benefit us and hurting
them is an action that is not morally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He thinks we must at least treat animals humanely, but this does not mean we need to treat them as if
they have rights. He also compared the differences between animals with brain damaged persons,
senile or young in terms of the ability to make claim which is essential to being a person. That s why
these people are still part of our moral community, but animals are not. Moreover, he strongly supports
to the increasing in the use of animals for medical experiments. He agrees that we actually need to
increase the number experiments to avoid risking human lives because the increase in longevity ,
decrease in pain , the significant numbers of lives saved , the quality of human life all depends on such

A Very Brief Look at Russian History
The country of Russia has a rich history which, unfortunately, cannot be discussed in its entirety
within the context of this briefing book. It should be noted that early modern Russia is often
characterized by the strong rulers that presided at the time, and the legacies they left that have helped
shape Russia.
The beginning of modern Russia begins with Peter the Great, who began a period of reforms and
westernization under his reign. He brought many European customs to the elites, attempting to
eradicate some archaic practices, as well as introducing technology that Russia sorely lacked. He
modernized the military, attempting to thrust Russia onto the international stage and make the country
a contender in world politics. He also consolidated the country under his rule, even going so far as to
move the capital to St. Petersburg. Often these reforms were financed and instituted with the labor of
peasants, so his legacy remains controversial. Peter s reforms were furthered by Catherine the Great, a
liberal reformer at the onset of her reign. Due to her, Russia s influence expanded within Europe and
Asia. However, she reversed many reforms later on, contributing to the strife felt by the peasantry.
Another phase in Russia s history that is notable is that of Napoleon s ill conceived incursion into the
country in 1812. Instead of fighting conventionally, Russia s military generals prudently decided to try
a defensive approach, whereby they retreated and left a barren

Child Sexual Abuse Essay
Child Sexual Abuse
Sexual abuse to a child at times is confusing to the family. Families who are affected by sexual abuse
to a child tend to have a difficult time talking about the abuse. About one out of every four girls and
one out of every five boys are sexually abused by the time they are 18 years old. Sexual abuse to
children happens across every socioeconomic status, ethnic, cultural, religion and education. Getting
treatment for a victim of child sexual abuse is a difficult process because of the lack of trust by the
child. When child sexual abuse occurs the victim s family has a difficult time talking about the abuse,
which leads to the family pretending the abuse never happened. Once the family ... Show more

Children are the most vulnerable to sexual abuse, and there are risk factors to consider that would
make one child more of a target compared to another child. The three risk factors that are related to
sexual abuse are: 1) the age of the child, 2) socioeconomic status and 3) how well the child knows
his/her abuser. Child abuse is reported about 80,000 times per year, but the most alarming fact is how
many reports of child abuse goes unreported due to the child being afraid to talk about the sexual
abuse, and they do not want to get their offender in trouble. Children between the ages of three to five
years old are considered to be the most vulnerable to be a victim of sexual abuse. Children need to
have supervision at all times, especially during times like changing clothes and bathing. If
unsupervised, this can open the door for sexual abuse by the relatives, babysitters, etc. The second risk
factor is the socioeconomic status; the offender will notice the child isn t getting any attention from
the family and will manipulate the situation with the child. The perpetrator will offer to buy the child
things that the family can t buy for the child, listening to the child s problems and gain their trust. The
level of education plays a role, if the child is raised by a single parent and/or if the parents have
marital problems. Once trust is established this is when the perpetrator will sexually abuse a child.
Lastly, the final part is how well the

The Construction Of A Dam And Its Impact On The Social,...
These articles discuss the construction of a dam s project in Mapuche territories and its impact on the
social, political and economic life of the indigenous community. The Mapuche people of Southern
Chile have a long history and they were able to defend their independence despite many raids by
giving many sacrifices. But a final defeat their on the hands of Chilean army forced them to be at the
mercy of Chile s government and then began a long and different fight for survival. They were
forcefully relocated to reserves, where the lands were unfit and insufficient to sustain life. Chilean
commercial expansion resulted in the exploitation of natural resources of Mapuche communities.

The Mapuche community has knocked the door of many authorities to let their grievances be
addressed, and justice be provided. They have made many protests but all fell on the deaf ears of
concerned authorities. Their appeal and protest is based on retaining ancestral lands, concerns over
environmental and social impacts, and the secrecy of all process. Despite all protests of local
communities, ENDESA and IFC were initially reluctant to consider the demands of the Mapuche
people. Even the audit reports of DR Downing, an anthropologist hired by IFC, about the social and
environmental impacts and weakness of the project were not fully publicized as it found substantial
evidence that the Pehuen foundation has failed to compensate all affected people adequately.
Lately, because of the international pressure and fear of losing credibility IFC server notice to
ENDESA that failure to meet the environmental conditions of loan would result in declaration of a
default. ENDESA made a smarter move and repaid IFC amount by securing funds from a German
private development bank. Side by side, Mr Downing filed three back to back human rights violations
complaints on the grounds of intentional and willful violation of human and civil rights of the
community. Other inquires were also conducted by Worlds Bank inspection panel, AAA Committee

Anne Frank Book Analysis
Anne Frank, The Diary of a young girl, this book is about the ups and the downs of hiding in a secret
annex. The book has quite a bit that people today can relate to, even though they are not in hiding.
One of the main things in this book had difficult times. Each character had his or her own struggles.
Anne and her mom do not get along and she does not get along with Dussel (her roommate) Anne s
father, Otto Frank, is relaxed when things are calm but stressed when the place becomes tense. Mr.
and Mrs. Van Daan are the people who have to have things their way, but when something goes wrong
they panic. Living in secret seems very limited and stressful. They have different rules for each day
and night, and when there are people are downstairs working because the workers do not know about
the secret annex. Being locked up each person has different household jobs for each day and each
family gets a limited number of food rations or food coupons. Some of the rules included; they get up
at a quarter to seven and clean everything they slept on because the beds took up all of their days to
day living space (Wednesday, 4 August, 1943), at half past twelve each person goes off to do his or her
own thing because of the warehouse workers have left (Thursday, 5 August, 1943). Nowadays, people
go insane because they are used to being able to communicate in many ways. Although the older
would be fine because they grew up without the many ways of communicating that we as the younger

There are some things that you should know about seniors; most of the time, everything that you guys do irritate most of us. Mostly because you guys don t know how to act like high schoolers yet, it s only been just a few days since school started. Some advice that I could give you is to just have fun, do your work, but have fun. You ll never have fun throughout high school if you don t have any friends, so talk to people and make new friends. Some may stay and some could only last a few months but there is no reason to get butt hurt over losing a friend, you ll make more. You meet your, high school sweetheart, and you live happily ever after...yada yada yada, whatever. High school dating can actually suck because you risk breaking up on bad terms and then have to see them everyday because their in one or more of your classes. So my advice is that you shouldn t rush into relationships with someone during high school unless you can see them in the future. Boys aren t everything. Do your homework! It s not cool to be failing every class just because your friend is too. There are too many classes that you have to go to and the more work you don t do, the more work piles up that you d have to spend weekends straight just working on them. We re all procrastinators to some degree and if you know how to listen to it then you ll do just fine in school. Last but not least, just have fun. Four years go by quick in high school and you ll be looking back on the years, wondering where they went. You might also regret not doing something that you always wanted to try just because you were afraid. The more you do the better you look as a student, but don t stress yourself ouch too ... Introduction (The Launch) Introductory Exercise This exercise explores song elements and looks closely at the blues song format. Ask students to bring the lyrics of a favorite song to class (reminding them beforehand what appropriate and inappropriate choices would be). Start by discussing the lyrical parts of a song: Verses In a song, a verse is a group of lines that constitutes a unit (similar to verses in poetry). Typically, a song consists of several verses, and the rhyme scheme and rhythm are usually the same from verse to verse. • 5. Art Nouveau By Edward Burne Jones From The Pre-... Art nouveau is a elegant decorative art style characterized by ornate patterns of curvilinear lines. This period of art somewhat rooted from the a mixture of the Arts and Crafts movement, William Morris, Edward Burne Jones from the Pre Raphaelites and the Japanese style. It became popular across Europe and the in United States. Art Nouveau as a style is a beautiful mixture of elaborate Celtic looking patterns, classical elements, flat color and delicate women in nature. This style breaks the traditional forms from the previous time periods but at the same time, carries it through. These designers in this time, presented this work as organic forms with rich imagery. Such as Alphonse Mucha; which he today, is considered the father of this time period, and master of this style. This era correlates with the brotherhood of the Pre Raphaelites, and with inspirations from the early Renaissance painters. A melting pot of these famous time periods produced the Art nouveau movement. The Art nouveau movement started in Europe around 1890 s and lasted until 1910. It took on many different characteristics and tried to express the modern world through it s illustrations. There were many influences and themes across the works and style of Art nouveau. The many designers of this time looked at past famous works as a foundation and created more of a graphical format within these Art Nouveau works. In Harry Potter vs. Lord if the rings there are many comparisons but the most controversial one is Dumbledore vs. Gandalf. Both are wizards, both are mentors, both are very powerful, both are very wise, and run the show when they are around, but by the end of this paper you will learn that one is better than the other and that Is Dumbledore. Let start with the basics, as I stated they are both wizards. The biggest differences between the two are that Dumbledore lives about one hundred fifteen years before his planned death while Gandalf is practically a god of sorts and lives two thousand plus years before sailing off in a ship never to be seen again. But what matters is that in Dumbledore s one hundred fifteen or so years he acquired more power among the people and more knowledge than Gandalf did in his two thousand something years. Dumbledore knew it all. Gandalf was very intelligent he was even said to be the wisest of the Maiar. But throughout the series he relies on luck, brute power, and old connections to defeat Sauron. In the movies he never really seemed to know exactly what was going to happen in order for his forces to beat the orcs and other nasty creatures fighting for Sauron. Open the doors! the crowd shouts as they propel themselves to split the links; the police sustain them back like a stretching elastic rope. A common scene in the 1890s, citizens confronting banks for their money though banks had none. We want our money! The poor citizens shout out in unison. Major economic recessions of the 1890s, notably the panic of 1893, was heralded by cycles of disbeliefs that destabilized public confidence and weakened the nation. Prominent historians of the website ushistory.com argue that one response to the failures was an expansion in business associations. However, they also showed that; the poorer elements of society assumed they had been ignored during the hard times and then were left at the mercy of the trusts. (1) In reality, the same historians declare; the reform efforts of the last quarter of the 19th century had not been sufficient; new leadership was needed for the next century. This leadership ascended from the National Association of Manufactures (NAM), initiated in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1895. Already affirmed, The United States was in the middle of the recessions. • 8. Air Pollution And Bone Pollution It is not only the lungs that can be damaged by air pollution. Even bones are in danger for people whose homes are near polluted areas, a new research, published in Lancet Planetary Health, from Columbia University, said. After studying the records of more than 9 million people, researchers at the University discovered that slight increases in airborne particles from vehicle emissions are linked to lower bone density. Pollution likely affects the production of key hormones and bone minerals that lead to osteoporosis, The Telegraph reported. Parallel studies Dr. Andrea Baccarelli, from the University s Mailman School of Public Health, warned that exposure to high levels of fine particulate matter in the air could speed up the loss of bone density and boost the risk of bone fracture. Similar to the toxic substance found in cigarette smoke, air pollution could cause inflammation and oxidative stress and lead to bone loss, The Malay Mail Online reported. The researchers made two parallel studies. The first study looked into hospital admissions between 2003 and 2010 for fractures related to osteoporosis in patients older than 65 years old. Their finding was that even minute hikes in PM2.5 concentrations can lead to an increase in bone fractures among seniors. The scientists followed 692 males from low income groups in Boston in the second study for the same seven year period. The average age of the respondents was 47 years old. We see so many things that are influenced by the Native Americans and we find ourselves in awe of the independence of these peoples and the culture that they have come from. Comparing The Architecture Of Sears And Montgomery Ward Sears and Montgomery Ward catalog homes are a hallmark of innovation in American architecture and history, with this in mind our team went about renovating the experimental Maytown, a classic example of architectural focus on practical composition. Designed and fabricated during the pre 1900 era, The house parallels the time period s functional yet ornate approach to architecture and design. The exterior Queen Anne design of this piece of Americana is a prime example of the convergence of architectural styles, coextending the converging cultures of pre 1900s America. It could even be argued that many important landmarks in our state history were defined by acts of reform, such as the implementation of direct democracy into its state constitution during the progressive era of the late 19th and early 20th century. In modern California, it could be argued that there has been no greater landmark than the passage of Proposition 140. In short, Proposition 140 was an initiated constitutional amendment that sought to reform several key aspects of its own state legislature. For one, the legislature enjoyed relatively low turnover rates between 1979 and 1989, with the assembly ranked in the 16th country and the senate ranked 3rd (Petracca, pg.11). But, following implementation of Proposition 140, instability was very pronounced in the in the first years particularly in the assembly. For the first 8 years after the implementation of term limits, speakers of the assembly were generally inexperienced and ineffective, lasting only for budgets and an election. It was not until the appointment of John A. Perez in 2009, that the assembly began to stabilize Another aspect of instability and ineffectualness of the assembly has been its committees. Due inexperience of assemblymen, the process of identifying flawed legislation through gatekeeping has not been used as effectively as it has in the past. • 15. Analysis Of The Book Strange Creatures By Susan... Sanjana Mamidi Section 28 Final Draft Paper 4 Human Mind Control OCD is a phrase that gets to the existential core of worry, a clenched, demonic doubting that overrides evidence, empiricism, plain common sense (Slater234). The meme theory states that a meme consists of everything that is passed from person to person (Blackmore 37). In Strange Creatures by Susan Blackmore and Who Holds the Clicker? by Lauren Slater both authors discuss the control humans have over their minds. In Who Holds the Clicker Lauren Slater discusses DBS (deep brain simulation), which is a type of psychosurgery in which electrical impulses are sent to certain portions of the brain to control and change the emotions one feels. She discusses both the positive and negatives of deep brain simulation through a specific patient named Mario and also presents the control DBS can have over one s mind. Similarly, Blackmore in Strange Creatures discusses the meme theory, which consists of any idea that is passed down from person to person. Both authors provide information that allows people to draw conclusions relating to why people do not have control over their minds. Even though some people believe that humans do have control over their minds, Blackmore and Slater both successfully portray that in actuality humans do not have any control over their minds because human thoughts and ideas are unoriginal products of external forces, many human thoughts occur at deeper level of consciousness, and ... • 16. Elizabethan Era Beauty Beauty in the Elizabethan Era and Much Ado About Nothing Throughout history, literature has been a way for people to expand their viewpoint and appreciate the world around them through different cultures and traditions presented in a story. C. S. Lewis explains that through literature; We seek an enlargement of our being. We want to be more than ourselves (137). This explains that through literature, people learn lessons and read because they want to learn from these lessons and better themselves. Many influential writers throughout history have brought different ideas and lessons that have helped shape the society we know today. One writer who has had a tremendous impact on society is William Shakespeare. Shakespeare s works are still well read and can be related to today even though the Elizabethan Era in which he lived in is different from the culture of the modern world. However, the Elizabethan Era still has aspects of its society that can resonate with that of the modern day. One of those aspects is the stereotypes that women were faced with during the Elizabethan Era. The Elizabethan Era was a time of social reform for women. Though women became more educated and seen in a different light than what they were used to, the era in no way brought them to the equivalence of a women in today s society. Women were still seen as inferior by men and men still believed they were the greatest creation in the world. Tim Stretton states, In almost every context in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Good Food Revolution Analysis In the book Good Food Revolution, it focuses on the main point of Will Allen s life and how he has always been around food. I believe the book does a good job with tying in different connections and references with food and with Will Allen since he has grown up around food ever since he was little. When the book states The fate of a seed can be predicted by the health of the soil where it takes the root I believe that Will Allen is referring and connecting it back to himself. I believe he relates this to himself because a plant s roots are surrounded by soil and Will Allen has planted his roots around farming and food. A plant needs soil to survive and Will Allen needed farming to survive. His whole life and job has revolved around planting. A plant lives off of what it knows and its surroundings and Will Allen did the same. His parents planted the seed to get the initial start in farming so he picks up where they left off. Even though he was not into farming when he was younger he learned to grow and find a passion for farming as he grew older because it has always been around him. No matter where he went he held onto farming because that is all he knew. I believe this connection between Will Allen and the quote about the plant enhances and helps tell the story of how Will Allen got involved in farming. The connection The Good Food Revolution tries to also make is between ecology and human development. Ecology is about dealing with relations of organisms to one another ... These features are the backdrop to the story of a graffiti artist named Raymond who lives in the South Bronx that goes by the name Zoro , who is played by well known New York graffiti artist Lee Quinones. The movie goes through the tribulations of his life and relationship with Rose, while showing some of the historical aspects of hip hop. In a short time, many people in their town were infected and thirty three people were left dead. This strange disease was later determined to be meningitis. In 1806, the United States saw its first outbreak of meningitis in Massachusetts. It was not until 1887, however, that Professor Anton Weichselbaum was able to determine a cause of meningitis: a bacterium called Neisseria meningitides. It is hardly ever fatal and mostly caused by enteroviruses. Other viruses can induce a person to contract viral meningitis. These include: mumps, herpes, measles, and varicella zoster. Even an infection from a mosquito bite could potentially turn into a case of viral meningitis (4)! Fungal meningitis, which can also be deadly, is mostly caused by Cryptococcus and Candida. The people affected with fungal meningitis are mostly those who have an inadequate immune system (3). A person may not know he or she has meningitis right away. Many symptoms are analogous to the flu. These symptoms include a stiff neck, headache, fever, chills, nausea, light sensitivity, and possible changes in mental state (8). Although dystopian science fiction films are, by definition, works of fiction, they resonate with its viewers because the realities of poverty, oppression, and violence depicted in the films are indeed realities in the world in which the viewer lives. The Hunger Games is a series that holds the imagination captive, as its stories deal with themes larger than itself. The themes amidst the dystopian setting are the same ones its viewers wrestle with every day: love, compassion, and justice in the midst of oppression. The dystopian story resonates with its viewers because it leaves open the possibility that injustice and oppression can be overcome, but it acknowledges that the process will be unpleasant and loaded with hardships. Yet for many this sort of cinema represents the only honest way of imaginatively responding to the injustices in society. Not only is communication important but it is also important to know how to communicate effectively. Throughout the semester, I have learned some important things about communicating and how to do it effectively. The three most important lessons I learned are communication in organizations, public speaking, and effective listening. Communicating in organizations is important, and I feel will be especially important for me in the future as I plan to be a police officer. It is communication upward, downward, lateral, internal, and external that defines an organization s identity and how organizational members understand their roles and responsibilities (Wood, 210). There must be structure within an organization to allow the members predictability and, so they can understand their roles as well as procedures and the expectations of the organization they are in. Within these organizations must be communication networks which allow links to be made between people in a formal and informal fashion. One of the most important features of communication networks in an organization is the structures within them, which organize relationships and interactions between members (Wood, 218). The main debate throughout the play is the debate between science and religion. A bit of a background for those that are naive to the topic in this time period to follow. Small towns such as Hillsboro were very prone to streamlined views in every possible topic of extremities such as religion to minor topics relative to eateries, gossip, and small town politics. Lawrence and Lee do an exceptional job representing and setting the scene of this town by painting the history of the play s main characters. They make a strong point about the lack of strayed opinion as everyone is primarily religious in views and science is taught according to the bible. In a sense it is wrong for one to have a mind or speak about views that clash with what has been widely accepted in Hillsboro. Drummond is a notorious criminal defense lawyer who openly voices his opinions about one s ability to think and have a valid opinion about racy topics; anything that comes to mind. He is deemed atheist and uses his wit and knowledge of the world to humiliate his nemesis (Brady). Drummond stems his argument from the townspeople s tunneled vision of religion. He dissects the bible in its entirety and exposes its truths to all. The individual human mind. • 48. A Very Brief Look at Russian History The country of Russia has a rich history which, unfortunately, cannot be discussed in its entirety within the context of this briefing book. It should be noted that early modern Russia is often characterized by the strong rulers that presided at the time, and the legacies they left that have helped shape Russia. The beginning of modern Russia begins with Peter the Great, who began a period of reforms and westernization under his reign. He brought many European customs to the elites, attempting to eradicate some archaic practices, as well as introducing technology that Russia sorely lacked. He modernized the military, attempting to thrust Russia onto the international stage and make the country a contender in world politics. He also consolidated the country under his rule, even going so far as to move the capital to St. Petersburg. Often these reforms were financed and instituted with the labor of peasants, so his legacy remains controversial. Peter s reforms were furthered by Catherine the Great, a liberal reformer at the onset of her reign. Due to her, Russia s influence expanded within Europe and Asia. However, she reversed many reforms later on, contributing to the strife felt by the peasantry. Another phase in Russia s history that is notable is that of Napoleon s ill conceived incursion into the country in 1812. Instead of fighting conventionally, Russia s military generals prudently decided to try a defensive approach, whereby they retreated and left a barren ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The three risk factors that are related to sexual abuse are: 1) the age of the child, 2) socioeconomic status and 3) how well the child knows his/her abuser. Child abuse is reported about 80,000 times per year, but the most alarming fact is how many reports of child abuse goes unreported due to the child being afraid to talk about the sexual abuse, and they do not want to get their offender in trouble. Children need to have supervision at all times, especially during times like changing clothes and bathing. If unsupervised, this can open the door for sexual abuse by the relatives, babysitters, etc. The second risk factor is the socioeconomic status; the offender will notice the child isn t getting any attention from the family and will manipulate the situation with the child. The perpetrator will offer to buy the child things that the family can t buy for the child, listening to the child s problems and gain their trust. The book has quite a bit that people today can relate to, even though they are not in hiding. One of the main things in this book had difficult times. Each character had his or her own struggles. Anne and her mom do not get along and she does not get along with Dussel (her roommate) Anne s father, Otto Frank, is relaxed when things are calm but stressed when the place becomes tense. Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan are the people who have to have things their way, but when something goes wrong they panic. Living in secret seems very limited and stressful.
