Own Unique Way Of Running A Store. Sometimes Merchandising
own unique way of running a store. Sometimes merchandising is presented differently. The services
can also vary from location to location, this depends on the demographics of the area.
Opportunities
One of the ways Sneerglaw does their branding is by promoting health. Outside of store, Sneerglaw
does a great job at making sure they want their customers to be healthy. An area of opportunity would
be to implement health in the stores as well. For example, a designated location in the store that
displays healthy, organic food would allow for healthier shopping. This idea can be used for organic
beauty products and natural vitamins as well. Because health awareness is a very big movement, this
could allow Sneerglaw to grow their sales. Also, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pharmacies in grocery stores are a threat because they offer similar conveniences that Sneerglaw
offers. Generic inflation is also another issue that Sneerglaw faces. The cost of generic drugs increased
dramatically in 2014. In 2015 the inflation is expected to continue.
Leadership Evaluation
Vizcarrondo illustrates the behavioral leadership theory. How a leader behaves is reflected in the
company s success or failure. There are two types of behaviors: attention to tasks and attention to
people. Our CEO is very task oriented, and he directs his employees work activities to reach a goal;
this describes initiating structure.
Strengths
One of Vizcarrondo s strengths is that his goal is to create a global company. He outlined his plans for
China the world s third biggest pharmaceutical market...[he] cannot create a global company without
being in Europe and in the U.S. and in Asia, particularly China (Treadgold, 2016). Planning to open
stores in China will help Sneerglaw dive deeper into the pharmaceutical market and expand. Being a
global company is ambitious, and there are many steps required to accomplish this goal. In order to do
so, each department in Sneerglaw has its duties and responsibilities. Through the hierarchy, tasks are
delegated and expected to be completed on time.
Another strength to being task oriented is following the right procedures while being strategic.
Vizcarrondo is an advocate of discipline, his golden rule is that a good deal

defined as two or more freely interacting individuals who share collective norms and have a common
identity (Kreitner, Kinicki, Cole, 2007). The team process is an important factor which helps the team
to attain success. The team process plays three critical roles which are: converts the team s charter and
work plan into actions, influences individuals and team behaviors and helps to reveal the intent behind
behaviors (Wong, 2010). Therefore team process is an activity when team is performing tasks to attain
the team goals. For example in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The team process happens in all the stages of team development and helps the team members to
complete their tasks in an effective way (Engleberg Wynn, 2012) Five Stages of Team Development
The team development takes place in five stages. Bruce Tuckman had conducted research on various
teams and given the five stages of team development. The team process can be observed in all the five
stages of team development. The five stages of Tuckman are: 1. Forming: The forming stage of
development is a period of orientation and getting acquainted. Members break the ice and test one
another for friendship possibilities and task orientation. Uncertainty is high during this stage, and
members usually accept whatever power or authority is offered by either formal or informal leaders.
During this initial stage, members are concerned about such things as What is expected of me? What
behavior is acceptable? Will I fit in? During the forming stage, the team leader should provide time for
members to get acquainted with one another and encourage them to engage in informal social
discussions (Engleberg Wynn, 2012). 2. Storming: During the storming stage, individual personalities
emerge. People become more assertive in clarifying their roles and what is expected of them. This
stage is marked by conflict and disagreement. People may disagree over their perceptions of the team
s goals or how to achieve them. Members may jockey for position, and

Abnormal Factors Of Foreign Relations
Abnormal Factors in Foreign Relations. Scholars usually mention about government or economics
insteads of gender and race in their studies about foreign relations. Gender and race are stated as
atypical factors in this field. Laura McEnaney and Michael Krenn seek the historical evidence to
prove their thesis that gender and race are vital in forming foreign relation in the United States.
Because gender, race and foreign relation seem not related to each other, choosing the example plays a
vital role in illustrating the thesis.
Laura McEnaney succeeds in sketching ideas about the gender analysis in foreign relations but fails to
persuade the readers that gender really mattered. The author starts from the initial impression of
gender analysis in diplomatic history and develops it as a vital element to inform policymakers
decisions. She claims gender merely adds to the historian s toolbox . McEnaney demonstrates gender
studies has involved into not only women and femininity but also men and masculinity. The author
states the first sign of the study about how gender affects diplomatic history in the Cold War. Nuclear
family and family values are mentioned as examples that scholars begin to explore gender foreign
policy connection. These examples play well in creating an initial concept about gender analysis.
McEnaney implies the struggle of the scholars in determining the chilly relations between the United
States and Soviet Union after World War II. She believes the

Research Question
Does the use of Class Dojo points improve on task behaviour in the last hour of the school day in a
grade 3 classroom? Rationale:
This research project will focus on classroom reward systems and their effect on on task behaviour in
a grade 3 classroom. This research is important because there is much debate in the education world as
to the effectiveness of extrinsic motivators as all students respond differently to different behaviour
management techniques. This research project will provide me with insight into how a formal reward

Cause And Symptoms Of Alzheimer s Disease
What is Alzheimer s disease?
Alzheimer s is a disease that erases the memory of people quietly. People will have difficulty in
memorize recently happened events rather than the things happened years ago.
Changes in the brain:
It will damage the brain by a protein which will abnormally form amyloid plaques and tan tangles.
The damages to the brain probably exist more than 10 years before cognitive problems occur which
means it is symptom free during preclinical stage. At beginning, damage happens in hippocampus,
affects the forming of memories. Then, after more neuron is died and more parts of brain are affected,
the brain began to shrink. Lastly, damage spreads widely and the shrinkage can be seen obviously.

Borders And The United States
Borders is a topic that has been currently talked about frequently in the news over the past year, which
has got me thinking what are borders? A basic definition of borders are physical or imaginary lines
that divide geographic areas. However borders are not always tangible, they can be psychological as
well. My definition of borders are they are barriers, real or unreal, based on certain ideas that separate
for specific reasons. But since there is no standard definition that everyone agrees on, each person has
their very own definition of what borders are, what they mean, and what purpose they serve. During
prehistoric times, borders were not necessary. Peoples moved in small groups and traveled on really
large land masses, so the chance of them meeting one another was highly unlikely, and therefore there
were no big fights over supplies and territories. Borders are a colonial invention that came with the
desire to take over and control land and it s people. They became necessary when our relationship with
each other became a conflicting one over supplies and power. It is important to remember that the
world was not always separated by borders. A border is an actual or artificial boundary that separates
geographic regions. Borders are political barriers. They divide towns, cities, counties, provinces,
states, and countries. A border surrounds the region that a specific governing body has authority over.
The government of an area can only make and carry out laws within

Moving In A New Country
Living in a new country Usually, people travel to a new country for many reasons, to work, to feel
more safety or to try new experiences. Some people travel for a short period, and other people for a
long period, and some people for the rest of their life. With this change of country, it might cause a
change in lifestyle of the travelers. Moving in a new country will change some aspects of the travelers,
they will attempt new traditions, new ways of raising children, and new rules. The first change that the
travelers will face when they travel to the new country is changing in the traditions. The travelers will
try to fit in the new community, so they will change the old behaviors to the new ones, like when
someone comes to live in the U.S.A. he/she may start to celebrate Thanksgiving in November by
cooking a turkey or celebrate Christmas in December by decorating trees and home. This change
would help them to feel themselves they are part of the community by sharing those activities with
new American friends. In addition sometimes it causes a change in some social behaviors like when

Examination of The History of the Ojibway People by William W. Warren
The goal of this paper is to provide an examination of the book The History of the Ojibway People by
William W. Warren as well as express some of what I learned about the book, the author and the
Ojibway people. William W. Warren, born of a white father and Ojibway mother, used his fluent
familiarity with the Ojibway language and his tremendous popularity with both whites and Indians to
document the traditions and oral statements of the Ojibway people at a time when the future of their
existence was in jeopardy.
Why did I choose this book to read and review? Every summer for eight years my wife and I took a

In 1851 he was asked to write a series of articles for The Minnesota Democrat newspaper on the
Ojibway people. These articles were the beginning stages of what became The History of the Ojibway
People . William wrote several articles for the newspaper and eventually finished the manuscript for
the first, of what was to be a many volume series of books on the Ojibway people, in 1853. Upon
returning home from a trip to a New York publisher, William Warren died of a severe hemorrhage at
the young age of 28.
Although William died before he could finish all of the volumes he planned and before he could get
the work published, 32 years later, the Minnesota Historical Society first published the work as an
early and unique contribution to the field of Ojibway history and culture. As stated in the introduction,
written by W. Roger Buffalohead,
This book offers intriguing reading, full of tantalizing tales. One can only wonder how much more
would be known about the Ojibway today if Warren had been able to finish his other volumes, instead
of carrying his knowledge of his people into an early grave (p.xiii).
Warren s success can be attributed to the the high regard and popularity that he, the young man of
mixed Ojibway and Euro American heritage, enjoyed among both Ojibway and white people. Again,
Buffalohead states, It is true that Warren won the friendship, trust, and confidence of tribal members
throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin; it is also certain that he was

Captain Ahab was a fictional character that participated in whale hunting in a book called Moby Dick.
Moby Dick was the name of the great white whale that Captain Ahab was pursing to hunt. The Minke

An Article From American Pregnancy
A new phenomenon, placentophagy, has taken the United States by storm. Placentophagy is the
concept of consuming the placenta after giving birth to a child in order to receive specific health
benefits. Controversy has ensued over whether or not the placenta is actually beneficial to mothers.
The pro argument states that placentophagy is in fact advantageous. An article from American
Pregnancy, entitled Placenta Encapsulation explains that the basis of placentophagy relies heavily on
anecdotes from mothers who have tried out the procedure and supported the practice. Another article
from the website Placenta Benefits explains under their health and wellness tab how exactly
consuming the placenta can be valuable. The page has a list of all the benefits, including related
articles that go into further detail on a specific subject. Annette McDermott explains in her article that
a study was done on one hundred and eight nine participants, and seventy six percent said they
experienced positive results when consuming placenta. Yet another article by Michele Zipp also
mentions the previously mentioned study, and says that more studies will be conducted in the future. It
also mentioned that mothers who had another kid would continue to consume the placenta, and in
different ways, which suggests they had experienced positive effects. One last blog from whattoexpect
talks about the positive effects of placenta ingestion mentions facts about the placenta, such as the fact

Usb Drives And Usb Drive Data Transfer
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1. INTRODUCTION Portability and mobility of storage devices
like flash drives and USB devices are becoming so popular to carry and transport data on the go.
Unlike CD/DVD, hard drive, floppy disk or tape drive, a flash memory has no moving parts, so it
guarantees fast read/write speeds and more durable compared to other forms of storage media. Using a
flash drive/memory card to transfer a file typically uses a computer (e.g. laptop, pc, netbook or tablet)
to initialize mass storage communication which is not portable. Smartphone can exchange the data
through Bluetooth but can t act as host to USB drive to USB drive communication for data transfer.
The proposed system bridges the gap of USB drive to USB drive data transfer when a computer is not
present. Because of low prices of Smartphone almost everybody use smartphone so even Smartphone
can t act as host but it can acts as mediator and can be used as user interface to give operational
command for data transfer. Moreover, booting a computer just to transfer a file/s is ridiculous. In an
earlier research, an embedded system is used wherein a slave to slave flash drive transfer makes it
possible to transfer file/s using a programmable microcontroller with USB multi role embedded
host/peripheral controller and navigation control. This makes it possible to transfer data from a flash
drive to another flash drive with 100% data integrity using MD5 checksum algorithm. That research

Persuasive Essay On Changing The Date Of Australia Day
Nearly every country features a special day where they celebrate their nation as an entire country and
the 26th of January is the day that we Australians celebrate Australia day. We have been doing this for
the past more than 200 years. Changing the date of Australia day has been a debate brought up every
year in January. In a recent poll, the results show that most Australians don t care what date Australia
day is held on as long as there is still a day where us Australians celebrate together as a whole. So,
why do people feel the urge to change this date? There are many reasons why Australia day should be
changed to a day that represents Australia more.
The 26th of January is the day of the first fleet, but it was too the day that the intrusion begun. This
day is seen by a few individuals as the day of mourning . This is because this day is when the first
nation people had lost their land, alongside being persecuted by the settlers and numerous other issues
that go with it. Plus, 26th January truly implies nothing to Australia as an entirety. They are not really

fact, a whole week in advance, some men landed on the Sydney s Botany cove but afterwards found it

known as the Sydney Harbour. Since it wasn t indeed the exact day that the British landed on
Australia, then why celebrate it on this day? We think that this day should be changed because there is
no reason why we should keep it on this day if it has no specific reason to stay and doesn t represent
anything we would be proud

Freestyle Swimming Is A Category For A Swim Competition
Freestyle swimming is a category for a swim competition. Swimming has known to be around for
more than 10,000 years and freestyle swimming was one of the most common forms of swimming. In
the 1830 s swimming became more of a competitive sport. By 1837 the NSS was holding swimming
competitions in England. The sport grew popular in the 1880 s and there was three hundred regional
clubs across the country.
International Swimming Federation (FINA), had the rules of what freestyle is. It had said freestyle is
just a choice of the swimming technique you can use. (Wikipedia.com) Freestyle races are the most
common of all the styles. Mainly during freestyle races the front crawl technique was used because it
was usually the fastest. Even though during a freestyle race, the racer can chose which style they want,
It is not common to see the dog paddle or the sidestroke. Then besides the front crawl it is common to
see breaststroke, butterfly, and the backstroke being used. But the styles have the most speed would be
the front crawl or the australian, which are the most picks for any races and competitions.
The first Olympic Games were a male only competition. In Paris is where the second Olympic Game
was held. The 4000 m freestyle competition was the long swimming race until the 10k swim
competition was brought in 2008. FINA the swimming association was formed in 1908. Freestyle

Companies having the highest ratios of production costs to net revenues are likely to be caught in a
profit squeeze, with margins too small to cover delivery, marketing, and administrative costs and
interest costs and still have a comfortable margin for profit. Production costs at such companies are
usually too high relative to the price they are charging (their strategic options for boosting profitability
are to cut costs, raise prices, or try to make up for thin margins by somehow selling additional units).
The percentage of delivery costs for cameras to net sales revenues. This ratio is calculated by dividing
total delivery costs by net revenues (where net revenues represent the dollars received from camera

The Impact Of Modern Campaign Finance Laws On America
Campaign Finance
Introduction:
In 2011, two sociologists named Erik Olin Wright and Joel Rogers identified five core American
values: freedom, prosperity, efficiency, fairness, and democracy (Wright and Rogers). America s
numerous ideals inevitably cause these values to come into conflict each other. Such conflict
characterizes the debate over the implications of modern campaign finance laws in America. The
Supreme Court s ruling in Citizen s United v. FEC in 2010 undid former restrictions placed on how
money can be spent on federal political campaigns. Prior restrictions like the Federal Election
Campaign Act of 1971 and its amendments in 1974, placed limitations on political donations by
Political Action Committees (PACs), political parties, and even individuals. Originally these
restrictions were put in place to deter corruption that could undermine the democracy inherent in US
values and elections. The Supreme Court s ruling in 2010 revolutionized the scene by declaring that
independent expenditures are protected by the first amendment to the US Constitution. They further
asserted that for all intents and purposes corporations are legally viewed synonymous with people in
terms of political spending. The Supreme Court s ruling emphasized equality and freedom, but at what
cost? Critics, like Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, suggest at the cost of democracy, and ultimately
corporate interests diminishing freedom in the long run. As a result of this case, more money is now

Pros And Basics Of BUI
All U.S. states have laws against using alcohol and drugs while operating a boat or any other
watercraft. In addition, the U.S. Coast Guard oversees federal laws against drinking on a boat and
arrests people for boating under the influence, or BUI. Conviction of a BUI crime is a serious offense,
and it can result in jail time, large monetary fines, suspension of boating and driver s licenses, and
increases in auto and boat insurance premiums.
Increases in BUI Arrests Laws against BUI have been enacted across the country, because operating a
boat while intoxicated leads to accidents, deaths, and property damage. The Coast Guard tracks
statistics regarding boating accidents and reported 4,158 accidents and 626 deaths ... Show more

States without formal marine law enforcement orders may also set up BUI checkpoints for questioning
and inspecting boat operators and passengers for intoxication while boating. BUI checkpoints operate
in much the same way as roadside DUI checkpoints, and this type of enforcement is leading to an
increasing number of BUI arrests and convictions. [5].
Basics of BUI Charges The crime of boating under the influence is defined in most states as operating
any form of watercraft on a body of water with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or above. A few
states define a BUI charge as having a blood alcohol content of .1 percent or above.
In some states it is an additional crime if there is a minor onboard the boat, especially if the minor has
a blood alcohol level above .01 percent.
Elements of BUI Charges A person can be convicted of a BUI offense when they are operating any
watercraft and are intoxicated to any significant degree by alcohol, drugs, or both.
In most cases, this involves a blood alcohol level of .08 percent or higher for recreational vessels and
.04 percent of higher for commercial vessels.
The crime of BUI applies to all forms of watercraft, including sailboats, speedboats, yachts, fishing
boats, jet skis, and commercial vessels.

The Film Precious by Lee Daniels Essay
When you think of the word poverty or poor what comes to mind? Some think of hunger, minorities,
dirty areas, women, and homeless people. What about when you hear the term abuse ? For most
people, abuse means physical; getting beat up or hit. Although abuse can mean getting beat up or hit,
there is far more that follows. Abuse can take on many forms like physical, emotional or sexual. The
film Precious by Lee Daniels, based on the novel Push by Sapphire, encounters not only the obvious
sexual abuse but physical and emotional abuse as well. Precious starts off with Claireece Precious

These stereotypes are very disadvantaging to the African American race because they are putting out
messages that you have to look a certain way to be attractive.
Although this film is disadvantaging to many people, it is also very beneficial. I think people that
come from the lower class or an abusive household can really benefit from this film. The main point
of this film is to show people that you can achieve anything you want to do no matter what
background you come from, and although it might be hard because of economical/ personal issues you
are not less of a person than anyone and you can still be successful. I love the idea of success because
it doesn t really have a set definition. You don t necessarily need money to be/feel successful. You can
work at Subway and still be successful while a twelve time Oscar winning actor can be successful.
You sort of carve out your own success and make your own definition for it. This movie will also
teach people that they are not on their own. Although you might think nobody is there for you, when
you enter a room you don t know what everyone is thinking or how everyone feels; you might now
even know everyone. It is kind of like when you re putting together a puzzle, you put certain pieces
together and you get closer to finishing and you just need to keep trying to solve the puzzle because if
you give up you just wasted your money on a puzzle

To claim damages, Jackson must establish breached of contract. The contract prohibits the students
from sub letting the property without Jackson s express permission. Without his knowledge, they sub
let the house on Airbandb, thereby constituting breach.

Per Hadley v Baxendale remoteness is satisfied where the damage either:
(a) arose naturally according to the usual course of things, from the breach; or
(b) may reasonably be supposed to have been in the contemplation of both parties at the time they
made the contract, as a probable result of the breach.
Applying the first limb, the students were presumably aware that subletting was a serious possibility
in termination and loss of future rent payments (until a new tenant was found), thus rendering the loss
reasonably foreseeable . While the students may argue that the extent of the loss as a full three months
of lost rent renders the loss too remote, per H Parsons (Livestock) Ltd v Uttley Ingham, the
foreseeability of the extent of the harm is irrelevant where the type of harm was foreseeable (as
satisfied above). Thus, remoteness is likely satisfied.
E Assessment of damages
Can Jackson claim loss of bargain damages?
Loss of bargain damages are only recoverable where a contract can be terminated at common law:
Shevill v Builders Licensing Board ( Shevill ). At common law, the right to terminate may arise when
there is a breach of a condition a term so important the party would not have entered into the contract
without assurance of its strict performance: Luna Park (NSW) Ltd v Tramways Advertising Pty Ltd.
This clause is likely to be construed as a condition given the contract is a lease agreement.

Additionally, in his novel Squirrel INC., Stephen Denning states that a story can communicate a
company s brand (56). Also, a personal story can communicate who you are as an entity (54). We
decided that a compilation of personal stories would be the best method to communicate the values
and outcomes of the SDP, and therefore, show administrators how valuable the program is to people.
Denning further supports this idea when he states that effective companies spark change when Groups
possess analogous who we are stories, which are less about the leader s personal experiences and
attitudes and more about the joint experiences and attitudes of the people within the organization and
their shared beliefs (Denning 58). Therefore, the sections of the interviews we chose to include in the
video help paint a picture of the organization as a whole. Also, we added in a few photos of the
participants activities, so as to not only let our viewers hear the benefits of the program, but also see
visual proof of how the program is a beneficial entity. Denning states that In performing the story, the
storyteller relives the story and makes it fresh as if the viewers were there at those particular, specified
moments (Denning 26). Our goal was to have our audience feel as though they were apart of each
participants activities through the various photos. Furthermore, we decided to begin our video with a
brief introduction into the program by one of the former chairs of the SDP, and what it essentially
accomplishes because a traditional narrative has a beginning, a middle, and an ending. The beginning
of the story sets the context of the narratives that follow it (50). We wanted to prepare our

Henry V Trojan War Essay
The Treaty of Troyes was signed in Troyes on the 21st of May, 1420. The treaty between Henry V and
Charles VI discussed the agreement that Henry and his heirs would inherit the throne of France upon
the death of Charles VI (of France). The treaty was passed through and approved by a judicial body. It
should be noted that although it was the French parliament that approved the document, they did not
carve up the kingdom (at the very least not on paper). The Treaty of Troyes is often considered one of
the most important treaties of the Hundred Years War. It acts as a sort of backdrop to the end portion
of the war. France and England, around the point of the signing of the treaty, were in the middle of
nearly constant warfare that had lasted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He fought and won many military battles, and he gained the French throne for his son s inheritance.
An important point is made by Richardson that had the Treaty of Troyes worked, the United Kingdom
would have been England and France, rather than England and Scotland . Henry was a great ruler, but
he left behind the government in a great debt, most likely due to the expenses of war. It is notable that
not even the revenue from the conquered territories could pay off this debt, because of the constancy
of battle, raids and such. The Treaty of Troyes was one of France s biggest mistakes. In War,
government and power in late Medieval France it is mentioned that, the notion of state is dependant on
binary opposition Binary opposition is related terms or concepts that are opposite in meaning .
Furthermore, Binary opposition is the system in which languages and thoughts as opposite are set
against one another . This could easily be said of English and French. The two countries were
complete opposites in most aspects of life (culture, language, law, etc.), but put them together and they
form a state. Specifically, a state that had it s ups and down, but was revolutionary . The treaty of
Troyes was never formally revoked . The English Remained Kings of France until the Treaty of
Amiens with Napoleon when it was finally abandoned. It certainly left a mark on

Standard Oil Trust Research Paper
The story of the monopoly of oil by the Standard Oil Trust is one of the more dramatic storylines in
the history of the U.S. economy. This monopoly on oil occurred at a time when the United States was
in the middle of a transformation from an agricultural society to the greatest industrial economy the
world has ever seen. The effects of the Standard Oil monopoly on the U.S., and the world, were
immeasurable, and the lessons that can be learned from this incredible story are as applicable today as
they were a hundred years ago (www.linfo.org, 2004).
John D. Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil Trust in 1870 in Cleveland Ohio, the oil refining mecca
of the time. The trust almost immediately began using a variety of cutthroat techniques to acquire or
destroy competitors and thereby consolidate the oil industry. Some techniques used by Standard Oil
were to temporarily undercut the prices of their competitors, creating secret deals with the railroad
companies to gain a cheaper shipping rate for its oil, and acquiring a majority of the pipelines needed
to transport the un refined oil to the refinery. By 1878 Rockefeller and his company had gained control
of nearly 90 percent of the oil refined in the United States. The company s dominance of oil, ... Show

Mars Basalt
One of the most fundamental questions in science currently is whether we are alone in the universe.
All the terrestrial planets, such as Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, show evidence of volcanic
activities in their past.1,2 Mars is the only location where budgetary and technological constraints
permit access and is also considered as having had the most likely planet for sustaining life.1 5 The
surface conditions of Mars presently appear hostile to life,6 and thus we rely on evidence that the
planet has been more hospitable to life in the past.7 such as the recent discovery of liquid water by
NASA s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.8
The change to colder and drier conditions may have forced any ancient life to retreat into the
subsurface.9,10 Alternatively, while Mars experienced significant volcanic activity, biological
remnants may have been absorbed into ancient rocks, and some organic molecules as an indicator of
life on Mars may still remain. Thus, the organic matter within the rock potentially contains
information that can be used to determine the past or extant presence of life. On this assumption, if we

Psychological research shows that eyewitness testimony is not always accurate, therefore it should not
be used in the criminal justice system. Discuss.
The reliability if an eyewitness testimony is questionable. The witness may be so certain that the
person that thy are pointing out is one hundred per cent the suspect or they could be so certain when it
comes to retelling the incident, although these people are so sure on what it is they are doing, their

* Hindsight Bias: Hindsight bias can affect the eyewitness in that, once the witness learns how the
event turned out, it can affect how they remember the crime. * Overconfidence of the eyewitness
testimony: although the witness may seem and feel confident, this does not mean that their testimony
or identification is correct or true.
All of the above factors and causes for wrongful causes of eyewitness testimonies as well as factors
such as: the lighting of the area where the incident happened, how long the victim was with the
victimiser, how stressful the situation was and the amount of time between the crime and alerting
authorities can have a huge impact on ones eyewitness testimony. Although the witness may seem
adamant and confident in their testimony, the above factors should be assessed and taken into
consideration when reflecting on the accuracy and reliability of the witness s testimony.
An alternative source of reliable evidence is DNA evidence. Although DNA evidence did not exist
when Ronald Cotton was first accused, it was what made him a free man in the end, proving his
innocence. It is believed that thousands of men and women are wrongfully convicted for crimes they
did not commit (Wise, Fisherman amp; Safer, 2009) and as experts estimate; half of all wrong
convictions are due to misidentification in an eyewitness testimony (Wise, Fisherman

The First Generation Of Stars
The article printed in the Nature News on June 18, 2015 describes the first look at the first generation
of stars that give way to the universe. These stars, most likely from the late developing cluster of the
first generation of stars, are strong evidence of primordial stars. Primordial stars are stars that are
considered the original stars of the universe, and the precursors to the rest of the stars and celestial
bodies in the universe.
David Sobral and his team at the University of Lisbon led the work in finding this cluster of stars in a
bright galaxy, named COSMOS Redshift 7 (CR7). The team at the University of Lisbon used the
Subaru Telescope in Hawaii to first detect the light spectrum from CR7, and used three additional
telescopes to determine which of the distant bright galaxies the light originated.
The Subaru Telescope is located in Mauna Kea, Hawaii, and is an 8.2 metre optical infrared telescope,
operated by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan ( Subaru telescope , n.d.). Situated in the
summit of Mauna Kea, the telescope collects light using a mirror, and focuses the photons to create
high resolution image. The mirrors in the telescope have a small error margin of 0.012 μm, which
allows for the telescope to provide crisp images.
The Subaru telescope were used to pan across the sky to look for light spectrum signals from distant
bright galaxies. Upon exacting the location of the light spectrum, Sobral and his team analyzed the

Media s Effect On The Black Society
Media has a detrimental effect on the black society. Blacks have very little, if any control in what the
media displays. How many African American Television network companies are there? How many
African American Television companies are competing with the big named companies who rack in
millions or billions of dollars? It is logical to say whomever controls the media, controls the mind.
Television is a common form of media . A lot of things that we watch has been carefully hand picked
and crafted for blacks but not by blacks. There are currently no Black owned television networks. The
question is; who is feeding our minds? Television network companies are almost completely
dominated by middle aged to elderly Caucasian male. Many may assume that BET is black owned;
however as of 2001 BET has been taken over by Viacom . Who owns Viacom? Sumner Redstone, an
elderly Caucasian male. BET is the most prominent network in targeting Black households and
reaches over 90 Million households. Having no black owned television networks lead to a non black
persons perception of black people and black culture. This displays a fabricated experience and
idealism of what these networks think black people are or should be. It is equivalent to an individual
making a documentary on what it is like being Oprah Winfrey but they are not Oprah. Winfrey.

Incarceration Crime Rate
Since the 1990s and the crime drop, there has been many questions to the reason why. Steven Levitt
and Stephen Dubner thoroughly looked through the different theories but came to a conclusion that the
main reason crime had fallen is abortion (117 145). One of the reasons they discuss is whether or not
the increase of incarceration affects the fluctuations in crime rates. Levitt and Dubner suggest that the
crime system became relaxed due avoid racism; however, the crime rates then began to rise (122).
Between 1980 and 2000, there was a fifteenfold increase in the number of people sent to prison on
drug charges (Levitt, Dubner 123). The purpose of this review is to evaluate the validity of the

1 30). Ouimet says [Spelman] estimates the relationship between incarceration and crime and comes
up with an elasticity measure of 0.4, which means that an increase in incarceration of one percent will
be followed by a drop in crime of 0.4% (par. 12). In other words, imprisonment only accounted for
one fourth of the crime drop in the 1990s (Ouimet par. 12). Not all scholars however, believe that
incarceration was responsible for the drop because of its inconsistency between states (Ouimet par.
13). In fact, they believe that states adjusted the incarceration rates due to the crime rates, the
dependent and independent variables were flipped (Ouimet par. 13). Ouimet then goes into policing
strategies, (another commonly known factor in affecting crime rates) and how those statistics match
up with those of Canada. Though Ouimet uses evidence to prove that incarceration affects crime, he
then disproves it by saying that it is to variant and is not consistent among states (pars. 12 13). This
article is really good to look at another side of the crime drop. It brings in a good perspective and
points; however, it ties the U.S. to Canada in which causes the author to broaden the argument instead

Key Values Revealed In Homer s Odyssey
1. The key values that are shown in Chapter 1 were humanism and freedom to think. In humanism
gods are superior to man, and as Zeus says, I am mightiest of all. (Hamilton 20) Zeus is showing the
gods are mightier than the humans and Zeus, the mightiest of the gods. Also, the humans had the
freedom to think and worship. When his (Zeus) worship spread to a town where there was already a
divine ruler the two were slowly fused into one. (Hamilton 21) This shows that the Greeks freely
worshiped Zeus and other gods, and their worship of one god spread from town to town based on their
beliefs.
2. The god that I most relate to is Phoebus Apollo. No false word ever falls from his lips. (Hamilton
25) Apollo is the God of Truth, and if you knew me, I never tell a lie. I have been raised to where the
truth may hurt, but is always the right thing to say. If my mom ever caught me lying to her, I would be
punished. Whenever my mom asks if I did my chores and I realize I forgot to do them, knowing I
would be punished, I still tell her I have not.

Mate Selection Theory: Ideal Mate Theory Reflection
Choosing a mate in society now days is usually base on our ideal image of significant other we have
created in our head that is influence by our surroundings. The mate selection theory, which appeals
most to me, is the Ideal Mate Theory because everybody has developed a concept of their own ideal
mate. Three reasons why this theory of the Ideal mate theory appeals to me are: 1. Best way to find a
mate is base on parental control/role modelling meaning finding a mate that will be acceptable to my
family. Life experiences and observation of relationships promotes the decision who is attractive to

Having standards (knowledge of unattractive and attractive qualities) in selection of a mate is the best
way of obtaining a successful relationship. In the future, I think I will select my mate reflecting the
ideal mate theory because I will form my concept of my ideal mate based on surroundings and
experiences/encounters. I believe I will choose a social homogamous mate because I would like to
build a relationship with a mate with a similar appearance, background, religion, age, value and social
class. Before establishing a relationship with a mate, I would like have friendship leading to dating
leading to engagement leading to marriage. Which allows me to be more familiar and flexible to my
mate s personality and values, and I would know the expected roles of him in our future.
Finding the ideal man or woman when you have many preferences is nearly impossible but finding a
man or woman with reasonable / respectful standards is more likely to found. For example, my parents
got married because they both had the fit into each other s preferences of an ideal mate. My mother
and father were attracted to each other because they have shared the social homogamous theory. Both
coming from a family well respect, same religion, and same friends from adolescent years, live in the
same area, and many more factors which were similar that influenced them to get married.

The Soviet Union And The United States
Due to the onset of the Cold War and the early 1960s, the popular and political climate in the United
States changed. The relationship between the Soviet Union and the United States was directed by
ideological, political and technological factors. The rivalry between the two powers rooted from their
contrasting ideological principles since the United States was a democratic republic where the people
believed that every citizen had equal representation in the government and the Soviet Union was a
communist nation. The US embodied the principles of a democratic nation believing in the ideals of
life, liberty and pursuit of happiness as well as having an economy that was based on capitalism. In
contrast to the ideology of the US, the Soviet Union fell under communist rule during the Russian
Revolution of 1917, which was based on the idea that all assets should be owned by the government
and then divided among the citizens of the nation. The Soviet Union took communism a step further
as the many of the leaders were totalitarian during the 20th century, meaning that all power was in the
hands of the ruler . In 1946, Churchill declared the separation between the east and west by saying that
an iron curtain had descended through the middle of Europe (Churchill Delivers Iron Curtain Speech
1). Even though the Soviets and the US fought together in WWII, the eastern communistic ideology
had clashed with western democratic principles. Furthermore, the two powers were in a nuclear

He outlined his plans for China the world s third biggest pharmaceutical market...[he] cannot create a global company without being in Europe and in the U.S. and in Asia, particularly China (Treadgold, 2016). Planning to open stores in China will help Sneerglaw dive deeper into the pharmaceutical market and expand. Being a global company is ambitious, and there are many steps required to accomplish this goal. In order to do so, each department in Sneerglaw has its duties and responsibilities. The five stages of Tuckman are: 1. Forming: The forming stage of development is a period of orientation and getting acquainted. Members break the ice and test one another for friendship possibilities and task orientation. Uncertainty is high during this stage, and members usually accept whatever power or authority is offered by either formal or informal leaders. During this initial stage, members are concerned about such things as What is expected of me? What behavior is acceptable? Will I fit in? During the forming stage, the team leader should provide time for members to get acquainted with one another and encourage them to engage in informal social discussions (Engleberg Wynn, 2012). 2. Storming: During the storming stage, individual personalities emerge. People become more assertive in clarifying their roles and what is expected of them. She claims gender merely adds to the historian s toolbox . McEnaney demonstrates gender studies has involved into not only women and femininity but also men and masculinity. The author states the first sign of the study about how gender affects diplomatic history in the Cold War. Nuclear family and family values are mentioned as examples that scholars begin to explore gender foreign policy connection. A basic definition of borders are physical or imaginary lines that divide geographic areas. However borders are not always tangible, they can be psychological as well. My definition of borders are they are barriers, real or unreal, based on certain ideas that separate for specific reasons. But since there is no standard definition that everyone agrees on, each person has their very own definition of what borders are, what they mean, and what purpose they serve. Upon returning home from a trip to a New York publisher, William Warren died of a severe hemorrhage at the young age of 28. Although William died before he could finish all of the volumes he planned and before he could get the work published, 32 years later, the Minnesota Historical Society first published the work as an early and unique contribution to the field of Ojibway history and culture. As stated in the introduction, written by W. Roger Buffalohead, This book offers intriguing reading, full of tantalizing tales. One can only wonder how much more would be known about the Ojibway today if Warren had been able to finish his other volumes, instead of carrying his knowledge of his people into an early grave (p.xiii). Warren s success can be attributed to the the high regard and popularity that he, the young man of mixed Ojibway and Euro American heritage, enjoyed among both Ojibway and white people. Placentophagy is the concept of consuming the placenta after giving birth to a child in order to receive specific health benefits. Controversy has ensued over whether or not the placenta is actually beneficial to mothers. The pro argument states that placentophagy is in fact advantageous. An article from American Pregnancy, entitled Placenta Encapsulation explains that the basis of placentophagy relies heavily on anecdotes from mothers who have tried out the procedure and supported the practice. Another article from the website Placenta Benefits explains under their health and wellness tab how exactly consuming the placenta can be valuable. Unlike CD/DVD, hard drive, floppy disk or tape drive, a flash memory has no moving parts, so it guarantees fast read/write speeds and more durable compared to other forms of storage media. Using a flash drive/memory card to transfer a file typically uses a computer (e.g. laptop, pc, netbook or tablet) to initialize mass storage communication which is not portable. Smartphone can exchange the data through Bluetooth but can t act as host to USB drive to USB drive communication for data transfer. The proposed system bridges the gap of USB drive to USB drive data transfer when a computer is not present. Because of low prices of Smartphone almost everybody use smartphone so even Smartphone can t act as host but it can acts as mediator and can be used as user interface to give operational command for data transfer. Moreover, booting a computer just to transfer a file/s is ridiculous. In an earlier research, an embedded system is used wherein a slave to slave flash drive transfer makes it possible to transfer file/s using a programmable microcontroller with USB multi role embedded host/peripheral controller and navigation control. This makes it possible to transfer data from a flash drive to another flash drive with 100% data integrity using MD5 checksum algorithm. That research also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Impact Of Modern Campaign Finance Laws On America Campaign Finance Introduction: In 2011, two sociologists named Erik Olin Wright and Joel Rogers identified five core American values: freedom, prosperity, efficiency, fairness, and democracy (Wright and Rogers). America s numerous ideals inevitably cause these values to come into conflict each other. Such conflict characterizes the debate over the implications of modern campaign finance laws in America. The Supreme Court s ruling in Citizen s United v. FEC in 2010 undid former restrictions placed on how money can be spent on federal political campaigns. Prior restrictions like the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 and its amendments in 1974, placed limitations on political donations by Political Action Committees (PACs), political parties, and even individuals. Originally these restrictions were put in place to deter corruption that could undermine the democracy inherent in US values and elections. The Supreme Court s ruling in 2010 revolutionized the scene by declaring that independent expenditures are protected by the first amendment to the US Constitution. They further asserted that for all intents and purposes corporations are legally viewed synonymous with people in terms of political spending. The Supreme Court s ruling emphasized equality and freedom, but at what cost? Critics, like Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, suggest at the cost of democracy, and ultimately corporate interests diminishing freedom in the long run. As a result of this case, more money is now ... Applying the first limb, the students were presumably aware that subletting was a serious possibility in termination and loss of future rent payments (until a new tenant was found), thus rendering the loss reasonably foreseeable . While the students may argue that the extent of the loss as a full three months of lost rent renders the loss too remote, per H Parsons (Livestock) Ltd v Uttley Ingham, the foreseeability of the extent of the harm is irrelevant where the type of harm was foreseeable (as satisfied above). All of the above factors and causes for wrongful causes of eyewitness testimonies as well as factors such as: the lighting of the area where the incident happened, how long the victim was with the victimiser, how stressful the situation was and the amount of time between the crime and alerting authorities can have a huge impact on ones eyewitness testimony. Although the witness may seem adamant and confident in their testimony, the above factors should be assessed and taken into consideration when reflecting on the accuracy and reliability of the witness s testimony. An alternative source of reliable evidence is DNA evidence. Although DNA evidence did not exist when Ronald Cotton was first accused, it was what made him a free man in the end, proving his innocence. It is believed that thousands of men and women are wrongfully convicted for crimes they did not commit (Wise, Fisherman amp; Safer, 2009) and as experts estimate; half of all wrong convictions are due to misidentification in an eyewitness testimony (Wise, Fisherman ... • 29. Rubin Carter Research Paper If you do something wrong no matter what the case is, you should always take responsibility for your actions. This should always happen because an innocent person could go to jail for a crime that someone else has committed. Even today in the court of law sometimes the defendant will not take full credit for their actions and they will either lie or leave out the truth to save themselves from going to prison. In this case it makes me think of when a famous boxer, Rubin Carter was convicted of murdering several men, the only reason Carter was convicted of this was because witness match his car to the science of the crime. • 31. The First Generation Of Stars The article printed in the Nature News on June 18, 2015 describes the first look at the first generation of stars that give way to the universe. These stars, most likely from the late developing cluster of the first generation of stars, are strong evidence of primordial stars. Primordial stars are stars that are considered the original stars of the universe, and the precursors to the rest of the stars and celestial bodies in the universe. David Sobral and his team at the University of Lisbon led the work in finding this cluster of stars in a bright galaxy, named COSMOS Redshift 7 (CR7). The team at the University of Lisbon used the Subaru Telescope in Hawaii to first detect the light spectrum from CR7, and used three additional telescopes to determine which of the distant bright galaxies the light originated. The Subaru Telescope is located in Mauna Kea, Hawaii, and is an 8.2 metre optical infrared telescope, operated by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan ( Subaru telescope , n.d.). Situated in the summit of Mauna Kea, the telescope collects light using a mirror, and focuses the photons to create high resolution image. The mirrors in the telescope have a small error margin of 0.012 μm, which allows for the telescope to provide crisp images. The Subaru telescope were used to pan across the sky to look for light spectrum signals from distant bright galaxies. Upon exacting the location of the light spectrum, Sobral and his team analyzed the light signals. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How many African American Television network companies are there? How many African American Television companies are competing with the big named companies who rack in millions or billions of dollars? It is logical to say whomever controls the media, controls the mind. Television is a common form of media . A lot of things that we watch has been carefully hand picked and crafted for blacks but not by blacks. There are currently no Black owned television networks. The question is; who is feeding our minds? Television network companies are almost completely dominated by middle aged to elderly Caucasian male. Many may assume that BET is black owned; however as of 2001 BET has been taken over by Viacom . Who owns Viacom? Sumner Redstone, an elderly Caucasian male. BET is the most prominent network in targeting Black households and reaches over 90 Million households. Having no black owned television networks lead to a non black persons perception of black people and black culture. This displays a fabricated experience and idealism of what these networks think black people are or should be. It is equivalent to an individual making a documentary on what it is like being Oprah Winfrey but they are not Oprah. Winfrey. • 34. Incarceration Crime Rate Since the 1990s and the crime drop, there has been many questions to the reason why. Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner thoroughly looked through the different theories but came to a conclusion that the main reason crime had fallen is abortion (117 145). One of the reasons they discuss is whether or not the increase of incarceration affects the fluctuations in crime rates. Levitt and Dubner suggest that the crime system became relaxed due avoid racism; however, the crime rates then began to rise (122). Between 1980 and 2000, there was a fifteenfold increase in the number of people sent to prison on drug charges (Levitt, Dubner 123). Ouimet says [Spelman] estimates the relationship between incarceration and crime and comes up with an elasticity measure of 0.4, which means that an increase in incarceration of one percent will be followed by a drop in crime of 0.4% (par. 12). In other words, imprisonment only accounted for one fourth of the crime drop in the 1990s (Ouimet par. 12). Not all scholars however, believe that incarceration was responsible for the drop because of its inconsistency between states (Ouimet par. 13). In fact, they believe that states adjusted the incarceration rates due to the crime rates, the dependent and independent variables were flipped (Ouimet par. 13). Ouimet then goes into policing strategies, (another commonly known factor in affecting crime rates) and how those statistics match up with those of Canada. Though Ouimet uses evidence to prove that incarceration affects crime, he then disproves it by saying that it is to variant and is not consistent among states (pars. 12 13). This article is really good to look at another side of the crime drop. It brings in a good perspective and points; however, it ties the U.S. to Canada in which causes the author to broaden the argument instead of tying it down to specific ... • 35. Key Values Revealed In Homer s Odyssey 1. The key values that are shown in Chapter 1 were humanism and freedom to think. In humanism gods are superior to man, and as Zeus says, I am mightiest of all. (Hamilton 20) Zeus is showing the gods are mightier than the humans and Zeus, the mightiest of the gods. Also, the humans had the freedom to think and worship. When his (Zeus) worship spread to a town where there was already a divine ruler the two were slowly fused into one. (Hamilton 21) This shows that the Greeks freely worshiped Zeus and other gods, and their worship of one god spread from town to town based on their beliefs. 2. The god that I most relate to is Phoebus Apollo. No false word ever falls from his lips. (Hamilton 25) Apollo is the God of Truth, and if you knew me, I never tell a lie. I have been raised to where the truth may hurt, but is always the right thing to say. If my mom ever caught me lying to her, I would be punished. Whenever my mom asks if I did my chores and I realize I forgot to do them, knowing I would be punished, I still tell her I have not. 3. The mate selection theory, which appeals most to me, is the Ideal Mate Theory because everybody has developed a concept of their own ideal mate. Three reasons why this theory of the Ideal mate theory appeals to me are: 1. In the future, I think I will select my mate reflecting the ideal mate theory because I will form my concept of my ideal mate based on surroundings and experiences/encounters. I believe I will choose a social homogamous mate because I would like to build a relationship with a mate with a similar appearance, background, religion, age, value and social class. Before establishing a relationship with a mate, I would like have friendship leading to dating leading to engagement leading to marriage. Which allows me to be more familiar and flexible to my mate s personality and values, and I would know the expected roles of him in our future. For example, my parents got married because they both had the fit into each other s preferences of an ideal mate. • 39. The Soviet Union And The United States Due to the onset of the Cold War and the early 1960s, the popular and political climate in the United States changed. The relationship between the Soviet Union and the United States was directed by ideological, political and technological factors. The rivalry between the two powers rooted from their contrasting ideological principles since the United States was a democratic republic where the people believed that every citizen had equal representation in the government and the Soviet Union was a communist nation. The US embodied the principles of a democratic nation believing in the ideals of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness as well as having an economy that was based on capitalism. In contrast to the ideology of the US, the Soviet Union fell under communist rule during the Russian Revolution of 1917, which was based on the idea that all assets should be owned by the government and then divided among the citizens of the nation. The Soviet Union took communism a step further as the many of the leaders were totalitarian during the 20th century, meaning that all power was in the hands of the ruler . In 1946, Churchill declared the separation between the east and west by saying that an iron curtain had descended through the middle of Europe (Churchill Delivers Iron Curtain Speech 1). Even though the Soviets and the US fought together in WWII, the eastern communistic ideology had clashed with western democratic principles. Furthermore, the two powers were in a nuclear ...
