 CUFDIG201A Maintain Interactive Content
 Unit descriptor           This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to
                           maintain interactive content.

                           No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit
                           at the time of endorsement.

 Application of the unit   People responsible for updating the content of websites apply the skills and
                           knowledge described in this unit.

                           Under direction, they upload a range of media assets and change text content,
                           using a content management system that may be a proprietary system designed
                           for a static or dynamic website. Changes to the interface and structure of the site
                           are made by people in more senior positions.


 This unit prepares broadcasters to upload content to
 their station websites

Session Plan

The CMTO have designed a 6 hour session to cover the
skills required for broadcasters to:
 Evaluate a webpage
 Upload text, audio & video to an existing webpage
 Maintain content over a period of time


When preparing to deliver this session we need to read
through the Trainer & Assessor Guide
- Where can you access this guide?
Use the hand tool to answer the question>
Delivery Guide

What you need:
- Computer lab
- Internet access
- Pictures
- Audio
Tips:
- Small class size is best (no more than 8)
- Pre-load audio and pictures onto the computers
Delivery Guide

Preparing for the session
 Contact the station personnel responsible for the website
 Familiarise yourself with the station website and CMS
 If there is no station website use the CMTO Wordpress
  Blog
 Make sure you have the required logins and permissions
  (The CMTO Blog login is in the Trainer Guide)
 Set up a demo post to test out the features of the CMS
Content Management Systems

 What knowledge do you need?
- Understanding web terms & web effectiveness
- Using multimedia in a station setting
- Blogging, social networking


 What content management systems (CMS) have you
  used?
- Use the whiteboard text box to share your experience>
Assessment

 Read through the assessment tasks before delivering the session:
         1. Case Study analysis   This task requires the candidate to analyse a website and
                                  webpages according to a checklist

         2. Short Answer          This task is primarily to test the underpinning knowledge
         Questions

         3. Practical Activity    The task requires the candidate to upload and maintain
                                  interactive content on a webpage




 The majority of the assessment can be carried out during the
  session
 The trainee must update & maintain content over four weeks
 The Trainer Guide includes benchmarks and checklists for you to
  assess against

 Industry Knowledge
 Upload and Maintain content

- Student Activity Log


You MUST observer the trainee uploading content on
one occasion and provide feedback
Practice

 Start your own blog
 Use the CMTO Blog to practice on
 Open a SoundCloud/Podbean/CPOD account
 Start a Flickr/YouTube/Vimeo
 Research station websites and what works best
 Play with some link checking software
 Read the resource booklet and extra resources on the
 Trainer Portal
Blog it!

 Logon to the CMTO Blog
 Post a short story about your latest training
    experience
   Post a relevant picture
   Embed a relevant video/audio
   Link to some helpful resources
   Share your post via email!

Training community broadcasters  CUFDIG201A Maintain Interactive Content Unit descriptor This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to maintain interactive content. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of endorsement. Application of the unit People responsible for updating the content of websites apply the skills and knowledge described in this unit. Under direction, they upload a range of media assets and change text content, using a content management system that may be a proprietary system designed for a static or dynamic website. Changes to the interface and structure of the site are made by people in more senior positions.  This unit prepares broadcasters to upload content to their station websites

Session Plan The CMTO have designed a 6 hour session to cover the skills required for broadcasters to:  Evaluate a webpage  Upload text, audio & video to an existing webpage  Maintain content over a period of time When preparing to deliver this session we need to read through the Trainer & Assessor Guide - Where can you access this guide? Use the hand tool to answer the question>
  • 8. Delivery Guide What you need: - Computer lab - Internet access - Pictures - Audio Tips: - Small class size is best (no more than 8) - Pre-load audio and pictures onto the computers
  • 9. Delivery Guide Preparing for the session  Contact the station personnel responsible for the website  Familiarise yourself with the station website and CMS  If there is no station website use the CMTO Wordpress Blog  Make sure you have the required logins and permissions (The CMTO Blog login is in the Trainer Guide)  Set up a demo post to test out the features of the CMS
  • 10. Content Management Systems  What knowledge do you need? - Understanding web terms & web effectiveness - Using multimedia in a station setting - Blogging, social networking  What content management systems (CMS) have you used? - Use the whiteboard text box to share your experience>
  • 11. Assessment  Read through the assessment tasks before delivering the session: 1. Case Study analysis This task requires the candidate to analyse a website and webpages according to a checklist 2. Short Answer This task is primarily to test the underpinning knowledge Questions 3. Practical Activity The task requires the candidate to upload and maintain interactive content on a webpage  The majority of the assessment can be carried out during the session  The trainee must update & maintain content over four weeks  The Trainer Guide includes benchmarks and checklists for you to assess against

  • 14. Assessment Workbook In order to mark a trainee competent in this unit you should collect:  Student Assessment workbook - Website and webpage Evaluation checklist - Short answer quiz and webpage plan - Observation checklist - Student Activity Log You MUST observer the trainee uploading content on one occasion and provide feedback
  • 15. Practice  Start your own blog  Use the CMTO Blog to practice on  Open a SoundCloud/Podbean/CPOD account  Start a Flickr/YouTube/Vimeo  Research station websites and what works best  Play with some link checking software  Read the resource booklet and extra resources on the Trainer Portal
  • 16. Blog it!  Logon to the CMTO Blog  Post a short story about your latest training experience  Post a relevant picture  Embed a relevant video/audio  Link to some helpful resources  Share your post via email!
