Editor's Notes

  • #3 So the first question which came to mind when I found out about this topic is :what the beep is web metrics?the science and art of measuring websites. Its direct meaning is measurements of WWWWebmtrics is european term but its same as web analytics
  • #4 Lets look at different components of web matricsVisits = uv total page viewsUnique visitor= u v
  • #5 In simple terms I came __>Measure of how much ur website sucks or notIf high- sucks and vice versa
  • #6 Different for different web sites it can b no of Sign ups , Downloads , sales etce-commerce websiteEspecially in e commerce conversion rate of 0.30 is considered pretty awesome (every 1 out of 300 ppl buys something)
  • #7 Its one of the most significant component as it shows from where is the traffic coming on uur website !!Direct traffic are all those people showing up to your website by typing in the URL of your website or from a bookmark. Some people also call this "default traffic" or "ambient traffic".Referring URL's are other websites sending traffic to you. These could be as a result of your banner ad's or campaigns. These could be all those blogs or affiliates who link to you (after you send the blog authors uninvited and usually irritating presumptuous spam!!).Search engines, well that's you know who. Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask, othersOther. These include campaigns you have run (and then have configured your tool correctly). Email, direct marketing, etc.
  • #8 Why the hell does it existUsing the components we saw previously we can increase return on marketing investment ROMI by analysing them Find out wat are we doing wrong … what should be changed
  • #19 The big question is: how can a website manager convincesurfers to buy a product or read an article? And the answer is:look at the data and understand what is happening in thewebsite, listen to customers’ voices and optimize the website tobetter serve them; after all they are the reason for the website’sexistence. Customers should tell us what to do, notconsultants, friends or feelings; data and online surveys arethe place to look for customers’ needs.
