This course has enlightened me to the concept of the learning organization and my
role in it. Before this course I felt it was all management things that I could not relate
to since I was not a manager.
Of Senge s principles, the principle that impressed on me the most was Personal
Mastery and the understanding that leadership starts from within. I realized and
understand now that we are all managers and leaders in many facets of our lives
and each play an integral role in the success of ourselves and the businesses that
employ us. I have obtained several new books that I look forward to reading, such
as Emotional Intelligence, Spiritual Leadership, and Covey s books, just to name a
few. I will do this all in my spare time, of course. You discussed a story of a man
that walked through a snow storm to get help for his family, and said something to
the effect, that when he stopped walking, that was the reason he died. That story
resonated deeply within me for some reason. I have had many challenges in my
life and have never given up. But for the last couple of years have been, for lack of
a better word, boring. I almost did not return to school for my graduate degree,
because I was too old, and what difference would it make now and so on and so
