Vocabulary – Lesson Plan
Stage: Intermediate
1. Goal
Students will increase their knowledge about vocabulary, specially phrasal verbs,
something so currently in oral language.
2. Objectives
Terminal objectives
1. Students will remember a phrasal verb class to drill the skills used in this kind of
content.
2. Students will pay attention that words are very recurrent in orality, and moreover,
note the importance of a wide vocabulary in order to establish effective
communication.
Enabling objectives
Students will comprehend an informal conversation using the phrasal verbs.
Students will comprehend the importance of the phrasal verb as synonyms of currently
words.
Students understand that phrasal verbs are present in everyday life of English culture
and for this reason if their learning is necessary.
As well as their learning is important, the phrasal verbs practice is also necessary. So,
replacing some words by those expressions makes a great improve of the skills.

2. 3. Materials and Equipament
A computer and a projector unit of images to play videos of people talking, practicing
the use of phrasal verbs, specially “Cut” combinations.
A board and magic pens for explanations;
Students’ notebooks to register their explanations
4. Procedures
Warm up game
The teacher will initiate the phrasal verb content remembering some concepts about
what they are, where they are and how they can be used.
At the computer, the teacher will show the questions and alternatives as well, so they
need to think about their choice and make it, inductively.
Finally, all the students will see the answers and they will have the opportunity to
correct their mistakes, if there are.
Pre-listening/watching
The teacher will put the video stopped at the first image, and she/he will tell a summary
about the history that they will listen. At this moment, the teacher can make some
questions to note their answers will remain the same until the end.
The focus will be concentrate on the phrasal verb.
Listening/watching
The video will be watched by the students, can be played twice.
Whole-class discussion
Some questions will be asked students in order to review their knowledge, views, and to
propose discussion. The interaction among them is a positive point.
Post-listening/ post-watching activity
The students may be in groups and each group will be responsible to show their
arguments, and after, thinking about in some sentences or situations using that phrasal
verb.

Oral practice
With a partner, create short dialogues using the appropriate phrasal verb for each
image was seen.
Reading practice
Read off the text was chosen, and be able to recognize the meaning of the phrasal
verbs used in accordance with the context.
Writing practice
Create their own 150 words text, putting into practice the phrasal verbs. Finally, read
the text aloud to the class and ask them what phrasal verbs were chosen by you.
5. Evaluation
At this time, it must recognize the learning and skills developed during the activities by
the boys and girls in class. The student must understand that orality is fundamental,
and for its practice be evolved, it one must deduce more and more words, in this case,
also phrasal verbs.
