A Note On The Bailout Crisis
The concept of a bailout is a loaded topic by itself, and its definition certainly does not give it any
help. The words failing, save, and collapse are usually not associated with a light hearted idea.
When a company or a country s economy is on the verge of collapse, chaos is not far behind. Job
loss, bank s individual trust, the stock market, and even each household s net. worth is at stake, all
of which leads to economic decline. During this time of panic, banks (commercial or central
depending on the scale) must make a decision on whether or not they should save/bailout the
company or economy. In many instances, especially when a country s economy is about to
collapse, other central banks are usually not seen to shy away... Show more content on

Later that month, the U. S. House of Representatives passed legislation establishing the Troubled
Asset Relief Program, or TARP. Congress then passed, and President Bush signed, the Emergency
Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, which established the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief
Program (Investopedia). In November 2008, the Federal Reserve instituted quantitative easing
programs following the 2007 2008 financial crisis; or QE as it has become known. Quantitative
easing is the act in which central banks buy government bonds in order to promote economic
growth. In November 2010, the Federal Reserve announced a second round of quantitative easing,
referring to it as QE2. A third round again was later announced on September 13, 2013; which is
now being referred to not as QE3; but QE Infinity. Quantitative easing can only be carried out if the
central bank controls the currency used in the country. Japan, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and
the Eurozone quickly followed, since enacting quantitative easing programs of their own (Randow).
A central bank, reserve bank or monetary authority are all institutions that manages a state s
currency, money supply and interest rates. A central bank also has the authority to print the national
currency. Central banks within countries in the Eurozone cannot unilaterally expand their money
supply and therefore cannot directly employ quantitative easing. These countries must instead, rely

What is a family? A family is a group of people who are related by kinship ties: relations of blood,

The United States And The Reconstruction Era
The United States of America faced great tensions throughout the 18th century because of the
division on the issue of slavery, this was reflected through the way that African Americans were
treated up until the Reconstruction. In the early 18th century if one was from African ancestry, they
were condemned as inferior in the eyes of the white man. This would continue for over a century
and a half into the Reconstruction Era in 1865. On the other hand, there was an abolitionist
movement led by both black woman and men, and white woman and men. This movement was
formed to completely abolish slavery, and used tactics of sharing experiences that slaves faced, and
one of the most recognized advocates was Frederick Douglass. However, southerners did not agree
with the abolitionist movement because they saw slavery as essential to their lives because it made
their economy stable and flourish, and saw the Reconstruction Era as an encroachment on their
freedom. Further, the Reconstruction Era was a hopeful time for emancipated slaves, but
encountered problems because they saw freedom as...
Many Americans did not agree on the issue of slavery in the late 18th century, and still felt this way
after the Reconstruction Era. This issue caused great tensions between the North and the South, and
is depicted through the frustration from all the effort that Americans made to bring slaves to North
America, and were in their eyes their property. Southerners became angry that Northerners wanted

Consequences Of Urbanization During The Progressive Era
Many industries like the railroad, steel, and oil industries transformed American society in the early
20th century. The railroad industries was one of the most important since thanks to it, the costs of
products decreased and the population increased because food was available in a large variety and
quantity. Along with the increase of these industry, also came the rise of urbanization. This is called
industrialized or the rize of many industries. Industrialization impacted urbanization by crating
economic growth and job opportunities that drew people into cities included european immigrants.
Although everything was not quite bright. Some of the consequences of urbanization were poor
housing conditions, sanitation problems, disease, and overcrowding. Three issues that Americans
addressed in the Progressive Era were women suffrage, public health reform, and child labor.
Reformers attempted to solve these problems by forming organizations and raising government
awareness. During the Progressive Era, American women were fighting for suffrage or the right
to vote. Women were viewed as supporters of men and had to be responsible for managing the
homelife. While middle class women lived in cities as clerks, teachers, and nurses, lower class
women had to work either on farms or in factories. Document B suggests that prohibiting women to
vote is forcing them to work under hard conditions. The smaller wage and harder conditions
imposed on the women worker are due to the lack of

Essay on Sending Your Child to a Day Care Center
Sending Your Child to a Day Care Center
Abstract
Sending your child to day care is a tough decision to make. Parents most look into various ideas
when picking a day care center. They also must think about what is best for their child s
development whether it be social, physical or cognitive. There are various pros and cons to sending
your child to day care and decide if it is right for your child and family.
As they stepped into Ms. Couchon s office, the mother, a nurse, burst into tears. Her husband, a
software engineer, had just lost his job, she explained, leaving the family strapped. I gave her a

Not all daycare centers do this for the parents but they should, to make it easier on the parents
(Shellenbarger, 2000).
When sending your child to a day care center, you should also keep in mind the requirements of
these centers according to Unites States model building codes. Child day care centers are found
in all kinds of areas whether it is a small or large town or building. Many are commercial ventures
but enough are found inside the homes of your average family. These child day care centers are
licensed by most states and the regulations require approval by the local fire marshal. According
to the model building codes, for it to be considered an education use group day care center, the
center must provide space for more than five people over the age of 2 ВЅ for less than 24 hours a
day. There are many regulations that are going to be found in a day care center that is up to
building code (Corbett, 1998).
Here are some of the things that parents might want to inspect before deciding to send their child
to a specific center. For one thing it should meet the occupant load that is said to be that there
should be 20 square feet per person in the room. Some states lower this amount when it relates to
classrooms for the benefit of the children. The location of the building is also important to look into

The Growth And Peak Stage Of A Business Cycle
Business cycles contain several stages which span GDP and time itself. These stages are
growth, peak, recession and a trough or depression. These cycles repeat themselves over and
over through out time in the business world. The growth and peak stage of a business cycle are
when companies are building and providing great products and services. This is also the period
when jobs are most abundant and harder to fill because job positions are in demand. After the
peak stage a risky point in time follows which is the recession stage. During this time people tend
to loose their jobs and it is a much harder time to find a job as well. The depression stage is

We entered a depression period and this period lasted longer then some of the other periods in
our history. Many economists wonder why a recovery, which leads out of the depression and
into the growth stage, took longer then normal to begin. When looking back at history, I may
have found the answer. Big spending is required to make companies produce more and the
biggest factor of spending money is war. This paper will examine a close relation in our history
of recession, war, and recovery. Since 1950, there have been many recessions in the US, which
greatly affected all Americans. At the same time there have been innovations, technology,
banking changes and political activities which have been thought to have caused the recessions,
and ultimately fixed the recessions. We will explore a potential relationship between recovery
and war as to the potential for speeding up a recovery. Not too long ago, during the Great
Recession of 2007 2009, employment had peaked in the first part of 2008 and then it declined.
According to McConnell (2015), In the first part of 2010 job growth was very slow to recover
and economists have been vigorously debating why employment recovered so slowly after the
Great Recession of 2007 2009. The Great Recession began December 2007 and ended in June 2009

The Emergence of Appalachian Stereotypes in 19th Century...
In the world of Appalachia, stereotypes are abundant. There are stories told of mountaineers as lazy,
bewildered, backward, and yet happy and complacent people. Mountain women are seen as diligent,
strong, hard willed, and overall sturdy and weathered, bearing the burden of their male counterparts.
These ideas of mountainlife did not come out of thin air; they are the direct product of sensational
nineteenth century media including print journalism and illustrative art that has continuously
mislead and wrongfully represented the people of Appalachia. These stories, written and told by
outsiders, served very little purpose to Appalachian natives other than means of humiliation and
degradation. They served mostly to convince readers of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These proliferated the idea of unkempt and unruly natured people, pastoral, lazy and at the same
time content to remain in a disparagingly hostile existence. These writers and illustrators were
often men who traveled through the mountain regions and spent time with the people there
(McNeil, 59). They were frequently invited to stay with families who were honored to have
them as guests, and treated to every hospitality an Appalachian family could afford. When James
Lane Allen, who was a teacher in Lexington KY for twelve years, decided to change careers in
1885, traveled to New York to become a writer, while there he was told to find a definite field and
explore it for literacy materials. (McNeal, 59) Deciding to return to Kentucky, Allen began
publishing his works in magazines in 1886, his work primarily focusing on Kentucky as two
distinct regions, the civilized Bluegrass Region and the rough Cumberland Mountains. In James
Lane Allen s Through Cumberland Gap on Horseback, the mention is made to the beauty of the
land and that the climate was just the same but that traveling to the mountain region was not only
difficult as they had to take a train then a wagon ride, followed by a trek on horseback, but a
lengthy process. Among the experiences recorded Allen describes the meeting of several locals and

Bigoted and spiteful and well intentioned and loyal , which of these views best describes the
character of Antonio in your question. In Merchant of Venice , Antonio is the main character as he
is the merchant in the story in Venice. As Antonio is a Christian, he is quite anti Semitic and rude
to Shylock, making some people believe that he is spiteful and bigoted. However, most of the
play centers on him being the victim of the villain of the play, Shylock due to their bond they

any chance to help Bassanio, I believe Shakespearian and modern audiences would believe him to

The word dare shows his bravery in helping Bassanio, seeing as his first time bounding himself for
Bassanio turned out to be a life and death situation. This time, Antonio doesn t need Shylock or
anyone else s taunting to agree to a bond, but for the sake of Bassanio and Portia s happiness, he is
willing to put his soul upon the forfeit . He not only gives his life, he also gives his soul. This
sounds more religious and important than dying, so Antonio shows his most extreme means and
greater commitment in ensuring Bassanio s happiness. This strongly displays his well intentions
behind his actions. However, this also suggests that this bond will not end well, because in the
first bond, Antonio failed to return the money. All in all, Antonio is well intentioned and certainly
very loyal towards Bassanio, as he helps his friend as well as he can quite a few times and the
only reason behind his actions is their friendship, showing his benevolence. Even though Antonio is
quite mean to Shylock, showing anti semitism but overall, this main character is surely seen as a
kind hearted and faithful friend in audiences of all ages and

The Rebirth Of Ancient Cultures

The Rebirth of Ancient Cultures in Renaissance Florence Florence, Italy is known as the cradle of
the Renaissance (la culla del Rinascimento). It is a city full of beautiful architecture, art, and
history. The Renaissance was a powerful cultural movement that not only shaped all aspects of
Florentine life, but eventually the rest of Europe. Science, art, literature, philosophy, religion,
architecture, and politics have seen heavy influences by this movement. The term Renaissance
literally means rebirth : the rebirth of man and the rebirth of two important ancient cultures, Greek
and Roman, which had been lost with the beginning of the Middle Ages in Western history. Florence
was very prosperous during the late Middle Ages, next to Venice and Milan. It was the birthplace of
many important thinkers, artists, architects, and political figures who led the Renaissance. Along
with the birth of the philosophy of humanism, the rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman cultures
were driven by a revived interest in ancient thought, the advances in literature, the emphasis of
human based ideals in the arts, and the influence of the papacy and the Holy Roman Empire upon
the Florentine government. Italian thinkers had an interest in the ways that ancient Greeks and
Romans thought, a driving force of the Renaissance. It was the Florentines who first set out to
rediscover the glorious past of these cultures. They strongly believed

Relationship Between Employee Engagement And Banking Sector
Nature of Employee Engagement in Banking Sector
Submitted by Petroniu Andriesi Executive Summary
Employee engagement has a huge impact on the motivation of the workforce. It impacts employees
passion and attitude towards their day to day responsibilities. The banking sector employs a
significant percentage of workforce. However, various engagement policies have been initiated in
the banking sector. The first step has been recognizing the role of immediate supervisor as the key
person in driving employee engagement. Banks are also building a value based culture, talent
management strategies, mentorship and training, internal communication and feedback
mechanisms and transformative leadership. These strategies infuse a passionate workforce
dedicated to the accomplishment of the organization goals. The level of engagement is the banking
sector can be considered moderate but has gained momentum and is likely to improve over the
years. The primarily limitations of employee engagement are that they do not necessarily guarantee
increased productivity, the costs implication are high and employee engagement does not
necessarily guarantee employee retention.

B amp;Q plc works with many vendors such as Kingfisher Asia (KAL) who supply products to B

their vendors. The code of conduct is based on the international labour and envirnmental standards
set by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conventions which factories and worksites of
all vendors throughout the world need to comply to.
In summary, vendors need to let B amp;Q have full visibility of the enitre supply chain and fulfill
and obey the code of conduct criteria at all facilities. Any failure to meet the nine Critical Failure

guidelines from ILO conventions and uses the basic context to write down or capture in an

Pride And Prejudice Love Essay
In the nineteenth century, the question as to the foundation and purpose of courtship and marriage
emanated. The basis for this analysis was whether relationships should be navigated utilizing
emotion and feeling or reason and logic. The literary work of Regency era author, Jane Austen,
details such a balance, as it endeavors to convey Austen s interpretation of true affection between
couples of well examined intrinsic morality. The characters of Fitzwilliam Darcyand Elizabeth
Bennet in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudicecontend with the moral vices of pride and prejudiceas
they overcome judgements about one another and ultimately experience love.

His sense of her inferiority of its being a degradation of the family obstacles which judgment had
always opposed to inclinations were dwelt on... (Austen 12). These words reflect Mr. Darcy s
excessive pride and heightened awareness of social status, while inducing him to recount all the
ways in which he and Elizabeth are an illogical union, rather than relaying anything complimentary.
In response to this insult ridden proposal, Elizabeth proclaims that if he had acted in a more
gentlemanlike manner, she would have been more inclined to express sympathy following her
rejection of his advances. Despite Elizabeth s clear message that she will not observe his insensitive
words in submission, Mr. Darcy endures in the conviction that his prideful manners toward
Elizabeth are well justified and merely detail the truthful, adverse nature of her inferior social
standing with the utmost sincerity.
As Fitzwilliam Darcy combats the moral flaw of pride, Pride and Prejudice s protagonist, Elizabeth
Bennet, grapples with her own character downfalls. Elizabeth is a young woman of clever, astute,
and sharp witted manner. Notwithstanding, her satirical speech and propensity to make impetuous
judgements often blind her as to the unbiased truth of matters. Elizabeth, who deems herself a

Native American Mascots
Some team names and/or mascots related to Native Americans are not appropriate. Three teams
at the top of this controversial topic are the NFL s Washington Redskins, the MLB s Cleveland
Indians, and the MLB s Atlanta Braves. The appropriation of a team should be based on what the
name itself represents or was based off of. The use of Native American logos, names, and actions
are not acceptable. The term redskin is a slur, the Indians Chief Wahoo is flat out racist, and the
Braves tomahawk chop is a stereotype. The following examples will show the reasoning.
The first team that is widely debated about is the NFL s Washington Redskins. One reason why the
Washington Redskins name is not appropriate is because [redskin] is a dictionary defined slur
(Shapiro, Fox News). This is a good reason, since the term slur is a disparaging and minimizing
remark according to the dictionary. Another reason why the term redskin is not appropriate is that it
was used with an attitude of hostility in the late 19th and early 20th centuries (Dictionary.com). ...

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Soil retrogression and degradation are two regressive evolution processes associated with the loss
of equilibrium of a stable soil. Retrogression is primarily due to erosion and corresponds to a
phenomenon where succession reverts back to pioneer conditions (such as bare ground).
Degradation is an evolution, different from natural evolution, related to the local climate and
vegetation. It is due to the replacement of primary plant communities(known as climax) by
secondary communities. This replacement modifies the humus composition and amount, and
affects the formation of the soil. It is directly related to human activity. Soil degradation may also
be viewed as any change or disturbance to the soil perceived to be deleterious or undesirable.[1]
At the beginning of soil formation, the bare rock out crops is gradually colonized by pioneer
species (lichens and mosses). They are succeeded by herbaceous vegetation, shrubs and finally
forest. In parallel, the first humus bearing horizon is formed

An Inferential Analysis of Hemingway s Hills Like White...
In Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants I found many layers of symbolism, and a fascinating
psychological underplay afoot between his two characters. It begins with the girl s comment about
a line of white hills seen in the distance, which she compares to white elephants. The man responds
with the comment I ve never seen one.
The symbolism of a white elephant is widely known as something very large or apparent that no
one wishes to acknowledge or speak of in American society. It is an interesting opening to a very
strained conversation concerning an apparent pregnancy, and the man s wish to terminate it. The
couple s careful avoidance of actually naming the problem, or the proposed solution, suggests the
situation in which a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She gives up trying to communicate her feelings at this point, and asks him to stop talking about
it. He responds to this nervously, repeating that he doesn t want her to do it, it doesn t matter to
him. The girl then threatens to scream; one might think she is tired of his craven disassembling.
At that point, the waitress tells them the train is due in five minutes. The man escapes with the
bags, carrying them to the other tracks. This portion might suggest another symbolic element in
the story. Just as the two have switched their life course, they are now switching trains, heading
down a set of tracks carrying them towards a different outcome. He retreats to the bar inside,
where he has a drink alone while looking at the people waiting reasonably for the train , then
rejoins Jig, who smiles at him. And so the struggle between Jig and her lover is resolved. He has
won, and she has given up her dream. The elements of the story suggested a carefree couple that
traveled and drank their way across foreign landscapes together, with no responsibilities, until
suddenly, they faced one of the biggest responsibilities of all. Hemingway s depiction of their
conflict is in my opinion a stunning expose of a scenario that is all too common in the human
tradition, rife with assumptions and masterful in its inferential

Analysis Of Concrete Angel By Martina Mcbride
Most audiences view music as a form of entertainment only, so society tends to overlook the
messages behind the music. Some artists use music to promote their beliefs or inform their listeners
about unnoticed issues. Music can spread awareness about misfortunes in the world, and Martina
McBride uses her celebrity status to promote her own concerns about child abuse. In 2002, Martina
McBriderecorded a song titled Concrete Angel to spread awareness about child abuse. Her song
addresses the general population, consisting of bystanders, because most people are aware of
tragedies such as child abuse, but they ignore the problem. Through emotional appeals,
characterization, imagery, and foreshadowing, Concrete Angel illustrates the story of a young
girl s abuse in order to call the bystanders to awareness of the societal problem. Throughout the
song, the story creates emotional appeal with the use of bystanders. The bystander mentioned in
verse two is, The teacher wonders, but she doesn t ask/ It s hard to see the pain behind the mask
(lines 5 6). The teacher s reaction is a common experience for many adults because most adults
assume the child is not abused if he or she appears okay. Another bystander mentioned is,
Somebody cries in the middle of the night/ The neighbors hear, but they turn out the light (15 16).
Since the bystander ignores her plea for help, the audience develops sympathy for her because the
girl is helpless. Sympathy is the main objective of these lyrics, and if the audience has compassion
for the young girl, they might take action instead of being bystanders. Through emotional appeals,
the underlying message of these lyrics attempts to persuade the listeners not to be complacent as
bystanders. The artist uses music to evoke people s emotion because most people listen and relate
to music. The article Martina McBride Finds Additional Voices to Express Herself Ahead of Show
in North Myrtle Beach mentions, Raising awareness, she [Martina McBride] said, makes you feel
something as an individual to make a difference, and we all appreciate that (Palisin). When
bystanders take action, they can prevent an abusive situation and raise more awareness. Concrete

Political And Economic Theory Is An Often Contentious Subject
Political and economic theory is an often contentious subject as it relates to how much
interference governments should be allowed when it comes to rights and welfare of the public.
One of the most debated topics asks the question is it a part of the government s role to take
wealth away from the rich to give to the poor? John Rawlsand Robert Nozick offer two differing
theories about the role of government in distributing wealth.
John Rawls argues that a just society must have equal rights for all. He defines a society as an
organization of individuals who work together and create a social contract of moral and immoral
actions. The goal of any society is to improve the lives of those who inhabit it, contradicting Nozick
s belief that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second principle is called the difference principle which states that social or economic
inequalities are only just if they help the most disadvantaged members of society. In this portion,
Rawls does agree that material inequality is a necessity to encourage economic competition, but
states that it is only just if it is then used to help those who have been disadvantaged by their social
position. Rawls proposes that the difference principle is the core component of distributive justice
and therefore justifies the redistribution of wealth from rich to poor at the hands of the state.
Rawls develops the idea of an original position as a conception point and a justification for this
theory of distributive justice. In this original position, an individual is standing behind a veil of
ignorance which blocks out social class, economic class, sexuality or natural talents. In this place,
an individual is in the position to make the most basic moral decisions because they face no
external bias. If one knows no place in society, a rational person will make decisions that help
those who are worse off. In the original position, the principles of justice would be agreed to by any
rational human. This position supports the idea that while each person might have a different
background, they should have a fair chance to pursue goals and the equality of opportunity despite

Winston Churchill was arguably one of the most significant political leaders in the last century. A
soldier, athlete, author, reporter, British politician, and international statesman, Churchill is best
known as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 1945. He organized and guided
British resistance against Nazi Germany s effort to subdue the European Continent and heavily
influenced the subsequent and much larger allied war effort that was eventually victorious over the

In 1915 he presided over the most significant political and military defeat of the war the Gallipoli
campaign. Churchill, in searching for an alternative to the statement on the Western Front in
France, advocated for an attack from a different direction to force the Germans to fight on multiple
fronts he chose to fight at Gallipoli on the Dardanelles Peninsula of Turkey. Gallipoli was a disaster
and Churchill resigned in its aftermath. Out of government, he successfully lobbied for
reinstatement of his Army commission and a command in France. For six months he commanded
the 6th Battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers in the trenches. After his command was reorganized
and eliminated, he returned to the Liberal Asquith government as Minister of Munitions, Secretary
of State for War, and Secretary of State for Air. After the war, Churchill again switched parties and
served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Conservative government of Stanley Baldwin. After a
ten year absence from leadership, Churchill was again appointed First Lord of the Admiralty on the
outbreak of World War II. Culminating in 1940, with the resignation of Neville Chamberlain, he
was appointed to his first term as Prime Minister.
In the following paragraphs, I will analyze Churchill the leader and the characteristics of his

Auschwitz Concentration Camp Analysis
Rationale
In this written assignment I would like to write about discrimination against Jewish and the living
conditions inside of the Auschwitz concentration camp from the perspective of an infiltrated
journalist. This topic is strongly related to the Boy in the Straight Pyjamas book. The main plot of
this story is about how two boys develop a friendship, in spite of the fact that one of them is a
Jewish interned in the camp and the other one is the son of the Nazi commandant who manages the
camp.
Firstly, I have decided to use the format of an article due to the fact that I fell it is the most
appropriate format to address this subject from the point of view of a journalist. Moreover, I have
chosen formal language as the register I am going to use since the article is aimed at the newspaper
readers, who are mostly adults.

As Pavel, a Jewish prisoner who is now working in the commandants house explained me, the
barracks have as many as a thousand prisoners inside, which is insane given the limited capacity.
This issue along with starvation, because of the need of food and the development of contagious
diseases, due to the absence of cleanliness are the main causes of death among prisoners. In the
same way, violence and brutality from the Nazis towards the prisoners are also involved in this
matter. In particular daily murders, deadly experiments with prisoners and also gas chambers where
massive killings are being held.
As far as i am concerned, the living conditions in the Auschwitz concentration camp are terribly bad
and a lot of people are dying everyday because of this heartbreaking situation. The main purpose of
this article is to show how this war is unfairly affecting a lot of population. Furthermore, how we
need to stop this for the better, otherwise, this situation will continue and a growing number of

Bella Gonzalez Dina Hanna Daily Life in The Camps Life in a concentration camp was truly
horrific, as many are already aware. But we tend to overlook the small details about the daily
lives of prisoners that make the whole situation so much worse. The moment prisoners arrived at
a concentration camp, they were stripped of their names and possessions. They were all given a
number, which was usually tattooed on their wrists with sharp metal stamps . After this, their
heads were shaved, and prisoners were told that this was to prevent lice. Prisoners then received
a black and white striped uniform, with an identification emblem sewn on to the upper left side
of their shirts and jackets. These badges were colored inverted triangles, used to let officers
know what offense the prisoners were placed in the camp for. Immigrants triangles were blue,
criminals were green, homosexuals were pink, political prisoners were red, gypsies were brown,
and Jehovah s Witnesses were purple. Jewish people had to wear a yellow Star of David instead
of an identification triangle, but if they were charged on more than one offense, they would be

David, but also showing the other offense through the color coded... Show more content on

The Flight Attendant Training Program
Charles Lindbergh flew the first American Airlines flight on April 15, 1926 carrying U.S. mail
from St. Louis, Missouri to Chicago, Illinois (American Airlines). American Airlines flew United
States mail routes for about eight years until C.R. Smith and Donald Douglas created the DC 3
plane that would change the airlineindustry. The DC 3 flew in service from New York to Chicago
(American Airlines). Over the years the company began to grow what it is today. American
Airlines grew from engineering the DC 3 to the DC 7 and eventually created new flight planes
that would be able to take passengers all over the United States and eventually overseas.
American Airlines was the first airline to create a specialized flight attendant training program
(American Airlines). The airline knew the importance of keeping its passengers comfortable
during their flight. Finally, on October 16, 2015 U.S. Airways flew its last flight and on October

issues that are behind the American Airlines and U.S. Airways merger is that when it all comes
down to it is that once these two companies are combines they will be better able to offer its
customers better options according to Thomas C. Lawton (2013). However, since two companies

Essay on The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V
The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V
To turn Henry V into a play glorifying war or a play condemning war would be to presume
Shakespeare s intentions too much. He does both of these and more in his recount of the historical
battle of Agincourt. Although Shakespeare devotes the play to the events leading to war, he
simultaneously gives us insight into the political and private life of a king. It is this unity of two
distinct areas that has turned the play into a critical no man s land, acrimoniously contested and
periodically disfigured by opposing barrages of intellectual artillery (Taylor 1). One may believe
that Henry is the epitome of kingly glory, a disgrace of royalty, or think that Shakespeare himself
disliked Henry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Approaching the play through mere historical reconstruction limits the potential for insight into
society and threatens to create a stagnant historical account. Although the situation to which the
play refers no longer exists, a connection can be made between spectator and stage. The Chorus
facilitates this connection. Shakespeare obviously intended that the Chorus help the audience
visualize the proceedings of history. The Chorus has a dynamic role in inviting each audience
member on a journey through time. They have to assemble for themselves the model ruler of
Henry, in accordance with the instructions given, for it would be falsification of history to pretend
that [the play] could contain a clear cut and unambiguous ideal (Iser 186). The Chorus provides a
sense of individual responsibility in creating an image; a product of the imagination and not a fact
of history. The Chorus bridges the gap between the past and the present. The spectator is
encouraged to walk on an illusionary plain with Henry and share in his experiences.
The communication by the actors is emphasized in this production, as there will be little in terms
of stage decor. The Chorus is a dictionary, so to speak, for this new method of a raw and pure
rendition of Henry V. It is explicit about how much stage and actors will do, how much the
audience must do for itself (Beauman 6).

The Competitor
A high school teammate of mine was The Competitor. Her outlook on life was to be the best at
whatever she did, and exercising was no exception. She seemed perfectly sweet, but her
competitive streak emerged one afternoon. Our leisurely jog gradually turned to a run, and then
a full sprint. I glanced over at her and noticed the pained expression on her face. I knew she was
only pushing herself to beat me: she felt she had to run faster and further. You would think that
since I knew this was the case, I would have given up and let her get her dose of superiority. I

was in pretty good shape. She gave up first, and The Competitor cannot stand to lose. We remained
friends, of course, but never ran together again. Her bruised pride and my sore muscles saw to that.
The Natural Athlete

exercising but was still in good shape. This alone was enough to make me almost hate her. I had

Causes Of The Old Regime And The French Revolution
In the Old Regime and the French Revolution, by Alexis de Tocqueville, he detailed the ways in
which the French nation was corrupt and how these led to the chaos of the French Revolution.
Among the causes Alexis de Tocqueville listed, the feudal system s corruption was the root of the
French revolution s turmoil. This feudal system was certain to lead to a revolution because of the
anger it was creating among the peasants. In a document written by Abbe Sieyes, What is the Third
Estate, it is revealed that the peasants were being exploited, as they were doing all of the work for
the nation, while receiving nothing in return from their nobles who had promised to protect them
but weren t, and still obtained all of the power. The citizens of the third estate, including the
peasants realized that this system was unjust and began the anarchic French revolution.
The people of the third estate had finally come to realize the corruption of the feudal system, so
they created the National Assembly. The creation of the National Assembly by the third estate,
wreaked havoc among the French nation and marked the beginning of the French Revolution
because the third estate had no legal right to act as the National Assembly. The members of the
National Assembly wanted to reform the government by writing a new constitution and destroying
the old regime, so taxation could be less for them because they ultimately did everything for the
nation. By 1799, there had been five different

Evaluation of Impact of Desmopressin and Alpha1 Blocker...
We evaluated the impact of desmopressin and О±1 blocker tamsulosin combined therapy in
treatment of LUTS/BPH patients with noctuia. BPH is a common disorder, which affect about
40% of men older than 50 years. Nocturia is a common manifestation of BPH (6) that is not only

Different treatment modalities for LUTS/BPH have been used with success. However,
treatment for nocturia has been reported to be less satisfactory than treatment of other LUTS
and remains one of the most difficult LUTs to treat. Different treatment plans were assessed,
either for nocturia by itself or that occurring in association with BPH. As, BPH is a potential
risk factor for nocturia, О± blockers are considered a potential treatment for nocturia (11). The
О±1 blockers are the most common treatment for LUTS/BPH and all currently available О±1

The Two-Track Mind
Thinking critically, possessing a biopsychosocial approach and a two track mind, as well as
exploring human strengths continuously emerge in psychology as the four main ideas. Critical
thinking refers to inspecting any ideas given and not automatically believing those concepts. The
biopsychosocial approach discusses human conduct and the perspectives of its examination. Those
perspectives include biologically, psychologically, and socially. Every human shares a similar
biology, but differences arise psychologically and socially. The latter two views differ due to one s
experiences, social interactions, and the culture with which one identifies with. The two track mind
refers to the way the mind stores and sorts information. The human mind does this two ways,
knowingly and unknowingly, hence the term two track mind . Finally, exploring strengths... Show

Additionally, the relationship between the number of miles driven and the condition of the vehicle
s tires represents a negative correlation because as the number of miles driven increases, the state of

Correlation does not provide proof that one variable causes another because it merely predicts
the likelihood of the relationship. Although two ideas can relate to each other, other factors can
also produce those two original elements. For example, low self esteem could lead to depression,
just as depression could lead to low self esteem. Additionally, life experiences and hereditary

Confounding bias occurs when two factors are associated and the effect of one is confused with

bias is similar to social desirability bias, except that the latter term refers to a tendency to answer a

are influenced by the experimenter s expectations regarding the outcome of the study. A researcher
knows the predicted outcome of a research study and is in a position to influence the results, either

Enron And Enron Of Enron
During the Enron debacle, it was workers who took the pounding, not bankers. Not only did Enron
employees lose their jobs, many lost their retirement savings. That s because they were at the
bottom of the investing food chain. In July of 1985, Houston Natural Gas merged with InterNorth,
to create Enron, and Kenneth Lay became CEO the following year. In 1989, Enron began trading
natural gas commodities. In 1997, Andrew Fastow devised the first steps to hide debts and
inflate profits and one year later, he was named the CFO of Enron. In the year 2000, shares of
Enron reached a peak of $90. Enron claimed $101 billion in revenues, and as a direct result of this,
became the sixth largest energy company in the world. After all of these rapid... Show more content

During the West Coast power crisis, homes went dark and street lights were out in California,
causing injuries and accidents. But the danger didn t stop Enron s energy traders from having a
good laugh. Newly released evidence shows that years before the crisis, Enron schemed to
manipulate markets. The new tapes routinely recorded by Enron to protect their own deals, and
later obtained by Snohomish County Public Utility District Number 1, confirmed what had been
constantly reported for four years. Enron secretly shut down power plants so they could cause,
and then cash in on, the crisis. Power plant operators were coached on how to lie to officials.
Enron also pulled power out of states like California, causing emergency conditions to worsen.
The shut downs and pull outs triggered sky high power prices and when states complained, the
traders instructed the states to leave them alone, and let them make a little bit of money. When
the schemes began to unravel, employees blamed the men running Enron. Mark to market
accounting was introduced by former Enron President and CEO, Jeff Skilling. This allowed
Enron to book potential future profits on the very day the deal was signed, even if some states
had yet to deregulate their power markets. No matter how little cash actually came in the door, to
the outside world, Enron s profits could be whatever Enron said they were. Enron s former CFO,
Andrew Fastow, had his eye on John Olson, one

College Preparedness Essay
People choose to go to college for a myriad of reasons. Some attend college because of the
expectations of their parents or society. Others go to college because of the increased earning
potential that a college education can provide. Still others decide to go to college to expand their
knowledge in an area of particular interest. William Cory, a 19th Century English schoolmaster said,
You go to school not for knowledge so much as for arts and habits. The arts and habits that Cory
proposes that students are pursuing are certainly things that a student might learn in college.
However, I don t think that many people enter college with a goal of achieving the mental courage
and mental soberness that Cory proposes. Colleges, on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some people might not appreciate these requirements at the time, but may find an interest in a
subject they never would have explored had it not been an educational requirement. College
students are also required to take classes that teach them to write research papers. The process of
researching and writing these papers can teach students new habits. Among these are what Cory
calls, assuming . . . a new intellectual posture and regarding minute points of accuracy. However,
it would be a mistake to believe that a college is the only place one could acquire these habits and
self knowledge.
If Cory is correct that students go to a great school to learn the habit of working out what is
possible in a given time, for taste, for discrimination, then one could conclude that those who haven
t gone to college lack those traits. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 39% of
students enrolled in colleges in 1999 were twenty five years or older. (NCES, 1) This would seem
to indicate that many people are delaying their education for various reasons. Some go directly to
the work force after high school for financial reasons. Others might join the military or choose to
explore the world around them before going to college. There are also some students who may
feel they are not cut out for college because of poor grades in high

  • 3. A Note On The Bailout Crisis The concept of a bailout is a loaded topic by itself, and its definition certainly does not give it any help. The words failing, save, and collapse are usually not associated with a light hearted idea. When a company or a country s economy is on the verge of collapse, chaos is not far behind. Job loss, bank s individual trust, the stock market, and even each household s net. worth is at stake, all of which leads to economic decline. During this time of panic, banks (commercial or central depending on the scale) must make a decision on whether or not they should save/bailout the company or economy. In many instances, especially when a country s economy is about to collapse, other central banks are usually not seen to shy away... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later that month, the U. Congress then passed, and President Bush signed, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, which established the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program (Investopedia). In November 2008, the Federal Reserve instituted quantitative easing programs following the 2007 2008 financial crisis; or QE as it has become known. Quantitative easing is the act in which central banks buy government bonds in order to promote economic growth. In November 2010, the Federal Reserve announced a second round of quantitative easing, referring to it as QE2. A third round again was later announced on September 13, 2013; which is now being referred to not as QE3; but QE Infinity. Quantitative easing can only be carried out if the central bank controls the currency used in the country. Japan, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and the Eurozone quickly followed, since enacting quantitative easing programs of their own (Randow). A central bank, reserve bank or monetary authority are all institutions that manages a state s currency, money supply and interest rates. The United States And The Reconstruction Era The United States of America faced great tensions throughout the 18th century because of the division on the issue of slavery, this was reflected through the way that African Americans were treated up until the Reconstruction. In the early 18th century if one was from African ancestry, they were condemned as inferior in the eyes of the white man. This would continue for over a century and a half into the Reconstruction Era in 1865. On the other hand, there was an abolitionist movement led by both black woman and men, and white woman and men. This movement was formed to completely abolish slavery, and used tactics of sharing experiences that slaves faced, and one of the most recognized advocates was Frederick Douglass. However, southerners did not agree with the abolitionist movement because they saw slavery as essential to their lives because it made their economy stable and flourish, and saw the Reconstruction Era as an encroachment on their freedom. Industrialization impacted urbanization by crating economic growth and job opportunities that drew people into cities included european immigrants. Although everything was not quite bright. Some of the consequences of urbanization were poor housing conditions, sanitation problems, disease, and overcrowding. Three issues that Americans addressed in the Progressive Era were women suffrage, public health reform, and child labor. Reformers attempted to solve these problems by forming organizations and raising government awareness. During the Progressive Era, American women were fighting for suffrage or the right to vote. Women were viewed as supporters of men and had to be responsible for managing the homelife. While middle class women lived in cities as clerks, teachers, and nurses, lower class women had to work either on farms or in factories. These cycles repeat themselves over and over through out time in the business world. The growth and peak stage of a business cycle are when companies are building and providing great products and services. This is also the period when jobs are most abundant and harder to fill because job positions are in demand. After the peak stage a risky point in time follows which is the recession stage. We entered a depression period and this period lasted longer then some of the other periods in our history. Many economists wonder why a recovery, which leads out of the depression and into the growth stage, took longer then normal to begin. When looking back at history, I may have found the answer. Big spending is required to make companies produce more and the biggest factor of spending money is war. This paper will examine a close relation in our history of recession, war, and recovery. Since 1950, there have been many recessions in the US, which greatly affected all Americans. At the same time there have been innovations, technology, banking changes and political activities which have been thought to have caused the recessions, and ultimately fixed the recessions. We will explore a potential relationship between recovery and war as to the potential for speeding up a recovery. Not too long ago, during the Great Recession of 2007 2009, employment had peaked in the first part of 2008 and then it declined. According to McConnell (2015), In the first part of 2010 job growth was very slow to recover and economists have been vigorously debating why employment recovered so slowly after the Great Recession of 2007 2009. The Great Recession began December 2007 and ended in June 2009 (p.18). Banks had loaned excessive amounts of money to consumers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are stories told of mountaineers as lazy, bewildered, backward, and yet happy and complacent people. Mountain women are seen as diligent, strong, hard willed, and overall sturdy and weathered, bearing the burden of their male counterparts. These ideas of mountainlife did not come out of thin air; they are the direct product of sensational nineteenth century media including print journalism and illustrative art that has continuously mislead and wrongfully represented the people of Appalachia. They were frequently invited to stay with families who were honored to have them as guests, and treated to every hospitality an Appalachian family could afford. In Merchant of Venice , Antonio is the main character as he is the merchant in the story in Venice. As Antonio is a Christian, he is quite anti Semitic and rude to Shylock, making some people believe that he is spiteful and bigoted. However, most of the play centers on him being the victim of the villain of the play, Shylock due to their bond they made. He not only gives his life, he also gives his soul. This sounds more religious and important than dying, so Antonio shows his most extreme means and greater commitment in ensuring Bassanio s happiness. This strongly displays his well intentions behind his actions. However, this also suggests that this bond will not end well, because in the first bond, Antonio failed to return the money. All in all, Antonio is well intentioned and certainly very loyal towards Bassanio, as he helps his friend as well as he can quite a few times and the only reason behind his actions is their friendship, showing his benevolence. The Rebirth Of Ancient Cultures Teresa Fang Professor Moore Humanities 310 25 November 2015 The Rebirth of Ancient Cultures in Renaissance Florence Florence, Italy is known as the cradle of the Renaissance (la culla del Rinascimento). It is a city full of beautiful architecture, art, and history. The Renaissance was a powerful cultural movement that not only shaped all aspects of Florentine life, but eventually the rest of Europe. Science, art, literature, philosophy, religion, architecture, and politics have seen heavy influences by this movement. The term Renaissance literally means rebirth : the rebirth of man and the rebirth of two important ancient cultures, Greek and Roman, which had been lost with the beginning of the Middle Ages in Western history. Florence was very prosperous during the late Middle Ages, next to Venice and Milan. It was the birthplace of many important thinkers, artists, architects, and political figures who led the Renaissance. Along with the birth of the philosophy of humanism, the rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman cultures were driven by a revived interest in ancient thought, the advances in literature, the emphasis of human based ideals in the arts, and the influence of the papacy and the Holy Roman Empire upon the Florentine government. Three teams at the top of this controversial topic are the NFL s Washington Redskins, the MLB s Cleveland Indians, and the MLB s Atlanta Braves. The appropriation of a team should be based on what the name itself represents or was based off of. The use of Native American logos, names, and actions are not acceptable. The term redskin is a slur, the Indians Chief Wahoo is flat out racist, and the Braves tomahawk chop is a stereotype. The following examples will show the reasoning. The first team that is widely debated about is the NFL s Washington Redskins. One reason why the Washington Redskins name is not appropriate is because [redskin] is a dictionary defined slur (Shapiro, Fox News). This is a good reason, since the term slur is a disparaging and minimizing remark according to the dictionary. Soil retrogression and degradation From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Soil retrogression and degradation are two regressive evolution processes associated with the loss of equilibrium of a stable soil. Retrogression is primarily due to erosion and corresponds to a phenomenon where succession reverts back to pioneer conditions (such as bare ground). Degradation is an evolution, different from natural evolution, related to the local climate and vegetation. It is due to the replacement of primary plant communities(known as climax) by secondary communities. This replacement modifies the humus composition and amount, and affects the formation of the soil. It is directly related to human activity. Soil degradation may also be viewed as any change or disturbance to the soil perceived to be deleterious or undesirable.[1] At the beginning of soil formation, the bare rock out crops is gradually colonized by pioneer species (lichens and mosses). They are succeeded by herbaceous vegetation, shrubs and finally forest. In parallel, the first humus bearing horizon is formed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The symbolism of a white elephant is widely known as something very large or apparent that no one wishes to acknowledge or speak of in American society. At that point, the waitress tells them the train is due in five minutes. The man escapes with the bags, carrying them to the other tracks. • 26. Analysis Of Concrete Angel By Martina Mcbride Most audiences view music as a form of entertainment only, so society tends to overlook the messages behind the music. Some artists use music to promote their beliefs or inform their listeners about unnoticed issues. Music can spread awareness about misfortunes in the world, and Martina McBride uses her celebrity status to promote her own concerns about child abuse. In 2002, Martina McBriderecorded a song titled Concrete Angel to spread awareness about child abuse. Her song addresses the general population, consisting of bystanders, because most people are aware of tragedies such as child abuse, but they ignore the problem. Through emotional appeals, characterization, imagery, and foreshadowing, Concrete Angel illustrates the story of a young girl s abuse in order to call the bystanders to awareness of the societal problem. Throughout the song, the story creates emotional appeal with the use of bystanders. The bystander mentioned in verse two is, The teacher wonders, but she doesn t ask/ It s hard to see the pain behind the mask (lines 5 6). The teacher s reaction is a common experience for many adults because most adults assume the child is not abused if he or she appears okay. Another bystander mentioned is, Somebody cries in the middle of the night/ The neighbors hear, but they turn out the light (15 16). Since the bystander ignores her plea for help, the audience develops sympathy for her because the girl is helpless. Sympathy is the main objective of these lyrics, and if the audience has compassion for the young girl, they might take action instead of being bystanders. Through emotional appeals, the underlying message of these lyrics attempts to persuade the listeners not to be complacent as bystanders. The artist uses music to evoke people s emotion because most people listen and relate to music. The article Martina McBride Finds Additional Voices to Express Herself Ahead of Show in North Myrtle Beach mentions, Raising awareness, she [Martina McBride] said, makes you feel something as an individual to make a difference, and we all appreciate that (Palisin). One of the most debated topics asks the question is it a part of the government s role to take wealth away from the rich to give to the poor? John Rawlsand Robert Nozick offer two differing theories about the role of government in distributing wealth. John Rawls argues that a just society must have equal rights for all. Rawls proposes that the difference principle is the core component of distributive justice and therefore justifies the redistribution of wealth from rich to poor at the hands of the state. Rawls develops the idea of an original position as a conception point and a justification for this theory of distributive justice. In this original position, an individual is standing behind a veil of ignorance which blocks out social class, economic class, sexuality or natural talents. In this place, an individual is in the position to make the most basic moral decisions because they face no external bias. Gallipoli was a disaster and Churchill resigned in its aftermath. Out of government, he successfully lobbied for reinstatement of his Army commission and a command in France. For six months he commanded the 6th Battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers in the trenches. After his command was reorganized and eliminated, he returned to the Liberal Asquith government as Minister of Munitions, Secretary of State for War, and Secretary of State for Air. After the war, Churchill again switched parties and served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Conservative government of Stanley Baldwin. After a ten year absence from leadership, Churchill was again appointed First Lord of the Admiralty on the outbreak of World War II. Culminating in 1940, with the resignation of Neville Chamberlain, he was appointed to his first term as Prime Minister. • 31. Auschwitz Concentration Camp Analysis Rationale In this written assignment I would like to write about discrimination against Jewish and the living conditions inside of the Auschwitz concentration camp from the perspective of an infiltrated journalist. This topic is strongly related to the Boy in the Straight Pyjamas book. The main plot of this story is about how two boys develop a friendship, in spite of the fact that one of them is a Jewish interned in the camp and the other one is the son of the Nazi commandant who manages the camp. Firstly, I have decided to use the format of an article due to the fact that I fell it is the most appropriate format to address this subject from the point of view of a journalist. Moreover, I have chosen formal language as the register I am going to use since the article is aimed at the newspaper readers, who are mostly adults. As Pavel, a Jewish prisoner who is now working in the commandants house explained me, the barracks have as many as a thousand prisoners inside, which is insane given the limited capacity. This issue along with starvation, because of the need of food and the development of contagious diseases, due to the absence of cleanliness are the main causes of death among prisoners. In the same way, violence and brutality from the Nazis towards the prisoners are also involved in this matter. In particular daily murders, deadly experiments with prisoners and also gas chambers where massive killings are being held. As far as i am concerned, the living conditions in the Auschwitz concentration camp are terribly bad and a lot of people are dying everyday because of this heartbreaking situation. The main purpose of this article is to show how this war is unfairly affecting a lot of population. Furthermore, how we need to stop this for the better, otherwise, this situation will continue and a growing number of innocent people will eventually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But the book also assesses and explores how a range of factors produce and reproduce sex work discourse in the state of Bahia. Williams assesses and explores the relationship between the sex worker industry and tourism by including aspects of the erotic culture and behaviors by those in Bahia. By doing this Williams also explains and evaluates how this erotic culture then translates into how tourists and sex workers operate. She also includes in her book stories of people she meets along her journey through Brazil and its ties to sex tourism. In essence Williams book not only accesses the role of sex tourism in Brazil but her research also ties together many aspects of Brazilian, African, and European history that have led to the stigmas in Salvador and Bahia in which affect afro Brazilians women s social mobility and thus the perception that all afro Brazilian women are sex workers. ... • 33. Concentration Camp Research Paper Bella Gonzalez Dina Hanna Daily Life in The Camps Life in a concentration camp was truly horrific, as many are already aware. But we tend to overlook the small details about the daily lives of prisoners that make the whole situation so much worse. The moment prisoners arrived at a concentration camp, they were stripped of their names and possessions. They were all given a number, which was usually tattooed on their wrists with sharp metal stamps . After this, their heads were shaved, and prisoners were told that this was to prevent lice. Prisoners then received a black and white striped uniform, with an identification emblem sewn on to the upper left side of their shirts and jackets. These badges were colored inverted triangles, used to let officers know what offense the prisoners were placed in the camp for. Immigrants triangles were blue, criminals were green, homosexuals were pink, political prisoners were red, gypsies were brown, and Jehovah s Witnesses were purple. Jewish people had to wear a yellow Star of David instead of an identification triangle, but if they were charged on more than one offense, they would be made to wear a yellow triangle with a colored inverted triangle on top of it, forming the Star of David, but also showing the other offense through the color coded... American Airlines flew United States mail routes for about eight years until C.R. Smith and Donald Douglas created the DC 3 plane that would change the airlineindustry. The DC 3 flew in service from New York to Chicago (American Airlines). Over the years the company began to grow what it is today. American Airlines grew from engineering the DC 3 to the DC 7 and eventually created new flight planes that would be able to take passengers all over the United States and eventually overseas. American Airlines was the first airline to create a specialized flight attendant training program (American Airlines). The airline knew the importance of keeping its passengers comfortable during their flight. Finally, on October 16, 2015 U.S. Airways flew its last flight and on October 17, 2015 U.S. Airways and American Airlines began to operate under one company. The key issues that are behind the American Airlines and U.S. Airways merger is that when it all comes down to it is that once these two companies are combines they will be better able to offer its customers better options according to Thomas C. However, since two companies are becoming one the critics will argue that there will be less competition in the airline industry especially since there seem only to be four major airlines now, Delta, American ... • 35. Essay on The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V The Flawed King in Shakespeare s Henry V To turn Henry V into a play glorifying war or a play condemning war would be to presume Shakespeare s intentions too much. He does both of these and more in his recount of the historical battle of Agincourt. Although Shakespeare devotes the play to the events leading to war, he simultaneously gives us insight into the political and private life of a king. It is this unity of two distinct areas that has turned the play into a critical no man s land, acrimoniously contested and periodically disfigured by opposing barrages of intellectual artillery (Taylor 1). One may believe that Henry is the epitome of kingly glory, a disgrace of royalty, or think that Shakespeare himself disliked Henry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Approaching the play through mere historical reconstruction limits the potential for insight into society and threatens to create a stagnant historical account. Although the situation to which the play refers no longer exists, a connection can be made between spectator and stage. The Chorus facilitates this connection. Shakespeare obviously intended that the Chorus help the audience visualize the proceedings of history. The Chorus has a dynamic role in inviting each audience member on a journey through time. They have to assemble for themselves the model ruler of Henry, in accordance with the instructions given, for it would be falsification of history to pretend that [the play] could contain a clear cut and unambiguous ideal (Iser 186). The Chorus provides a sense of individual responsibility in creating an image; a product of the imagination and not a fact of history. The Chorus bridges the gap between the past and the present. The spectator is encouraged to walk on an illusionary plain with Henry and share in his experiences. The communication by the actors is emphasized in this production, as there will be little in terms of stage decor. The Chorus is a dictionary, so to speak, for this new method of a raw and pure rendition of Henry V. It is explicit about how much stage and actors will do, how much the audience must do for itself (Beauman 6). Think, when we talk of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Causes Of The Old Regime And The French Revolution In the Old Regime and the French Revolution, by Alexis de Tocqueville, he detailed the ways in which the French nation was corrupt and how these led to the chaos of the French Revolution. Among the causes Alexis de Tocqueville listed, the feudal system s corruption was the root of the French revolution s turmoil. This feudal system was certain to lead to a revolution because of the anger it was creating among the peasants. In a document written by Abbe Sieyes, What is the Third Estate, it is revealed that the peasants were being exploited, as they were doing all of the work for the nation, while receiving nothing in return from their nobles who had promised to protect them but weren t, and still obtained all of the power. The citizens of the third estate, including the peasants realized that this system was unjust and began the anarchic French revolution. The people of the third estate had finally come to realize the corruption of the feudal system, so they created the National Assembly. The creation of the National Assembly by the third estate, wreaked havoc among the French nation and marked the beginning of the French Revolution because the third estate had no legal right to act as the National Assembly. The members of the National Assembly wanted to reform the government by writing a new constitution and destroying the old regime, so taxation could be less for them because they ultimately did everything for the nation. BPH is a common disorder, which affect about 40% of men older than 50 years. Nocturia is a common manifestation of BPH (6) that is not only bothersome but can also have a marked impact on sleep patterns and decreases the QoL (9, 10). Different treatment modalities for LUTS/BPH have been used with success. However, treatment for nocturia has been reported to be less satisfactory than treatment of other LUTS and remains one of the most difficult LUTs to treat. Different treatment plans were assessed, either for nocturia by itself or that occurring in association with BPH. As, BPH is a potential risk factor for nocturia, О± blockers are considered a potential treatment for nocturia (11). The О±1 blockers are the most common treatment for LUTS/BPH and all currently available О±1 blockers have similar efficacy and improve symptoms by approximately 35% and Qmax by 1.8 2.5 mL/s (12, 13). Many studies assessed the effect of О±1 blockers, either alone or in combination with 5 О± reductase inhibitors on nocturia associated with BPH. Tamsulosin OCAS 0.4 was evaluated in BPH patients with ≥ 2 night voids and was proved to significantly improve the mean IPSS when compared to placebo (14). The Two-Track Mind Thinking critically, possessing a biopsychosocial approach and a two track mind, as well as exploring human strengths continuously emerge in psychology as the four main ideas. Critical thinking refers to inspecting any ideas given and not automatically believing those concepts. The biopsychosocial approach discusses human conduct and the perspectives of its examination. Those perspectives include biologically, psychologically, and socially. Every human shares a similar biology, but differences arise psychologically and socially. The latter two views differ due to one s experiences, social interactions, and the culture with which one identifies with. The two track mind refers to the way the mind stores and sorts information. Correlation does not provide proof that one variable causes another because it merely predicts the likelihood of the relationship. Consistency bias refers to the relation of terms to one another; it is the tendency to keep one response consistent with prior response. Experimenter bias is when the measurements obtained in a study are influenced by the experimenter s expectations regarding the outcome of the study. A researcher knows the predicted outcome of a research study and is in a position to influence the results, either intentionally or unintentionally. But the danger didn t stop Enron s energy traders from having a good laugh. Newly released evidence shows that years before the crisis, Enron schemed to manipulate markets. The new tapes routinely recorded by Enron to protect their own deals, and later obtained by Snohomish County Public Utility District Number 1, confirmed what had been constantly reported for four years. Enron secretly shut down power plants so they could cause, and then cash in on, the crisis. Power plant operators were coached on how to lie to officials. Enron also pulled power out of states like California, causing emergency conditions to worsen. The shut downs and pull outs triggered sky high power prices and when states complained, the traders instructed the states to leave them alone, and let them make a little bit of money. When the schemes began to unravel, employees blamed the men running Enron. Mark to market accounting was introduced by former Enron President and CEO, Jeff Skilling. This allowed Enron to book potential future profits on the very day the deal was signed, even if some states had yet to deregulate their power markets. Others go to college because of the increased earning potential that a college education can provide. Still others decide to go to college to expand their knowledge in an area of particular interest. William Cory, a 19th Century English schoolmaster said, You go to school not for knowledge so much as for arts and habits. Among these are what Cory calls, assuming . . . a new intellectual posture and regarding minute points of accuracy. However, it would be a mistake to believe that a college is the only place one could acquire these habits and self knowledge.
