Video Game Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Video Game Essays" can be both an exhilarating and
challenging endeavor. On one hand, the vast and dynamic landscape of video games provides
ample material for exploration, ranging from their cultural impact to the intricacies of game
design. However, this abundance of topics can also be overwhelming, making it difficult to
narrow down a specific focus.
One challenge lies in striking the right balance between technical analysis and broader cultural
implications. Video games are a multifaceted medium, requiring an understanding of both their
technical aspects, such as graphics, mechanics, and narrative design, as well as their societal
influence, including issues like representation, addiction, and the evolving nature of interactive
entertainment.
Furthermore, the rapid evolution of the gaming industry adds another layer of complexity.
Staying updated with the latest trends, technologies, and controversies within the gaming world
is essential for producing an essay that reflects current perspectives.
Moreover, navigating the diverse opinions surrounding video games can be challenging. The
gaming community is vast and varied, with players holding differing views on the significance
and impact of video games. Balancing these perspectives while maintaining a cohesive argument
can be a delicate task.
In conclusion, while the topic of "Video Game Essays" offers a wealth of material for
exploration, the complexity lies in synthesizing technical, cultural, and societal aspects into a
coherent and engaging piece. It demands a writer's ability to navigate the ever-evolving gaming
landscape, stay abreast of current trends, and weave together diverse perspectives into a
compelling narrative.

Henry Viii And The Succession
From 1533 to 1553 the succession line in England dismembered itself into a
churning goblet of contrasting egos. (hook) One minute Henry VIII was declaring
his first born child a Bastard and his second child, the rightful ruler of England, the
next minute he swore that both were bastards, and therefore needed to make a formal
will. By doing this, Henry VIII had the unusual opportunity to choose his
successor(s). First in line would be his new son, then his bastard daughters who
would be named legitimate heirs to the throne if needed. After them, Frances Grey
would inherit the title. This left Lady Jane Greyfourth in line to the throne. In the
succession acts, that Henry VIII also passed before Edward VI could declare his
will, Henry made it very clear that if another person were to interrupt his line of
succession, he or she would be executed for treason. It appeared to England as if
Jane was digging her heels into Henry s succession in 1553 when she took the
throne; disrupting the succession and committing treason. They would execute her
for this.(discussion) People today should consider Lady Jane Grey to be just as
heroic and brave as we have realized Joan of Arc to be. (thesis) From Jane s
exceptional dedication to learning, to how she compares to other rulers that came
after her, it becomes evident that Jane s parents, The Duke of Northumberland, and
Henry VIII robbed their country of another elegant lasting female ruler, rather than
Jane being the one who was
Internet Gambling Essay
Abstract: Internet gambling has become one of the hottest areas of the web, both in
the sheer volume of sites and quantity of money involved. Increasing controversy is
accompanying this new industry, as federal and state government officials scramble
to update legislation that restricts interstate wagering. This paper examines the roots
of Internet gambling and exposessome of the motivations driving the heated debate
over its legitimacy.
The business to consumer sector of the Internet commerce arena contains the most
lucrative and fastest growing web based industry: online gambling, which includes
sports wagering, casino style games and lotteries [1]. In a September 11th article
from last year, Wired on line reported ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After a Senate Judiciary Committee endorsed the bill 16 1[4], the measure moved to
the House for consideration in July 2000, where representatives currently deliberate
on its merits [8].
Representative James Leach of Iowa then proposed the Internet Gambling Funding
Prohibition Act, which has also failed to become ratified. Introduced shortly after
Kyl brought the of the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act to the House, the bill had a
two fold purpose: first, to prohibit online gambling companies from knowingly
accepting wagers placed on credit; and second, to absolve unknowing financial
intermediaries [i.e., credit card companies] of legal and monetary responsibility when
gamblers use their services for credit transactions [9]. The motivation for the
legislation may have come from the bizarre 1998 lawsuit filed in Marin County, CA
by Cynthia Haines, who lost $70,000 dollars through Internet wagers

The Veldt By Ray Bradbury
The Veldt by Ray Bradbury focuses on the unintended consequences of parents letting
their two children have unregulated use of technology. Bradbury conveys tone
through imagery, diction, similes, and sentence structure. In this story, Bradbury
repeats a set of sentences. He writes a long, smooth, flowing sentence followed by a
series of short, choppy sentences. The long sentence draws the reader into an African
scene, while the short sentences, such as the lions came running at them , abruptly
ends the fantasy and makes the danger of the situation feel quite real (Bradbury).
This creates a tone shift from calm with a sense of amazement to anxious and
fearful. Diction also plays a large role in creating a more dramatic tone shift. Bradbury
Summary Of The Book Of Judges
Women in the book of Judges The Book of Judges talks about ancient Israel, and
how they extended their territory by acquiring lands from the non Israelites. The
book narrates how Israelites conquered and reclaimed their lost land from non
Israelites and how they used to turn from God whenever they are satisfied. But it is
written in the Bible that, the guilty are by no means cleared, as Exodus (34:7) says
this is the reason why the Lord used several Kings and Judges like Deborahto help the
people of Israel find their way back to Him. As the book reveals, it is evident that
most of the judges were men (as they were most of the times referred to as Judges).
The book talks about a great woman Deborah, also referred to as the bee , as a key
judge in the entire book. This book unveils the importance of women (through acts
and strengths of Deborah (mainly) and other heroic female characters) and their
power to the readers. The Book of Judgesnarrates six women who are and will
always be remembered by their outstanding and remarkable work. They are, Achsah,
Deborah, Jael, Japhthah s daughter, Delilah and the identity of two of them is not
revealed. O Connor (1980) suggests that, The book of Judges demonstrates this
disparity as observed; women assume a vital function in its set up as the volume s
subject is marginalization (278). Women are well known in three major roles, that is,
being a mother, a daughter or a mate. Despite these limited roles, the Book of Judges

Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 3 Counters
We all use counters every day. Whether it be in our watches, or even something like
our washing machines, digital counters are found in nearly anything that involves
timing (Electronics Hub, 2015).
Counters have come a very long way over the years, increasing in both efficiency
and complexity. One example of an early counter is the counter developed by Paul
Stillman in 1854. This design had a small manual crank which would turn a dial by
one digit each time it was cranked. Once the first dial had turned by ten digits, it
would then turn the next dial by one digit (in a gradual motion). In 1920, the Veeder
Manufacturing Company made a counter that replaced this manual crank, which
would only allow for turning the dials one digit at a time, ... Show more content on

As these flip flops have a positive edge trigger for the clock input, this means every
time the clock input goes from LOW to HIGH, it triggers the flip flop, updating the
Q output to whatever the D input is, assuming the SET and RESET inputs of the
flip flop are both inactive, which they are in this circuit (Digital Electronics, 2014).
At the start, the D input will be HIGH, because D is connected to the inverted Q
output (PyroElectro, 2013). However, the 555 timer has a HIGH output at the
start, but due to the fact the flip flop triggers when the clock input goes from LOW
to HIGH, the counter still starts off counting from 0, because it takes one count for
the clock to go back to LOW then to HIGH again. As the clock counts, every
second count of the previous flip flop will cause the next flip flop to change state.
Thinking back to simple binary theory, this makes sense. As a digit in binary is
double the previous one, every second time the previous digit changes state, the next
digit should change state once. As this is a four bit counter, once the fourth digit
changes state from HIGH to LOW, the counter resets, and counts from zero
Social And Social Diverty, Poverty And Unhealthy Lifestyles
Consumers with lower incomes are more likely to live unhealthily, as low income
has become directly correlated with living an unhealthy lifestyle. When shopping for
groceries, consumers with relatively low monthly incomes are substantially more
likely to eat unhealthily, and are more likely to be obese. This issue of povertyand
unhealthy living stems from the idea of social and physical environments. Why is it
that people of low socioeconomic status are more likely to smoke, drink excessively
and have high fat diets? The issue surrounding the fact that lower income consumers
have higher mortality rates can be explained through behavioural studies.
The demographic of people who are most affected by unhealthy lifestyles due to
lack of wealth is the lower class who can afford their basic needs such as food,
shelter and clothing, but can t afford to live within supportive communities and live
fulfilling lives. These behaviours are more costly than the healthier method of
avoiding these actions altogether. Individuals with low SES are behaving this way
not to save money, but to compensate and cope with realities of poverty, such as a
lack of healthy relationships.
This unhealthy behaviour can partly be attributed to individuals and communities
providing low levels of Social Capital(3) . Social capital is defined as the number
and type of relationships an individual has(3) , and low SES communities often have
low levels of social cohesion. Research has found that
Cause And Effect On Inflation
INFLATION
Nowadays, inflation is a word very often used by society. In many cases, citizens can
t really define inflation and when they do so, they define other economic terms that
can get confused with inflation.
Citizens don t know of the importance of inflation and how it can affect them directly.
Inflation is caused by an imbalance of demand and supply, where prices of the
goods and services increase at an ongoing pace. The purchasing power will drop, and
the money citizens have will be worth less.
Inflation can either be good or bad. It is considered that if the inflation rate is
between 0% and 2% is positive, otherwise, when is negative or bigger than 2%, the
inflation is negative.
The most frequent measures of inflation are the CPI (Consumer Prices Index) and
RPI (Retail Prices Index).
On the one hand, RPI is the percentage price calculated by the Government annually,
where they take more than 600 goods and services, and they calculate a mean price of
them. After that, they compare it with the previous year.
On the other, CPI can be used not only for comparing the difference of inflation year
by year, but also for the identification of periods of inflation and deflation and in a
more accurate way.
The difference between inflation and a rise in the price level, is that inflation, is an
ongoing process of an increase in prices of products or services, whereas a rise in
products prices is a one time jump in price of the product.
However, there is also a term for the
Students Hail End Of Banning Cell Phones In Schools
Across America students are starting to complete assignments all on their phones
instead of the traditional computer or paper. The question is, is it appropriate to
use cell phones in school, or not? Schools across America are split between
allowing cell phones in school or banning them. Co writer of the article Students
Hail End of Cellphone Ban states: Our challenge is to make sure students
understand that this is a privilege and not a God given right She said. They use it
properly or else ( Brody 2). In the past years, cell phones have become prevalent
among nearly every teenager, and they need them to do work. In this day and age it
seems almost necessary to have one. Cell phone use in a school setting has emerged
as a controversial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article Is Your Smartphone Hurting Your GPA? , author Nara Schoenberg
states: In 2011, researchers at California State University reported that students
who received a higher number of text messages during a video recorded lecture
scored worse on a quiz than those who received or sent few or no text messages
(Schoenberg 2). This argument is inappropriately biased because it didn t specify
or include information about using the cell phones for schoolwork. It only
displayed why they shouldn t be used in a no use zone. Schools that allow the use
of cell phones for work have different effects on students than rules that don t allow
the use of them at all. Had the study been carried out between two groups of
students, one that was allowed to use their phones for research and one group that
couldn t, the opposition may have a more grounded argument. However, one can
see that this opinion has a weak argument because of the lack of information
displayed. Overall, cellphones should be allowed in school for academic use
because teenagers use them daily. It would work to the advantage of both the
students and the teachers to incorporate cell phones with school work. Education will
only continue to evolve as the years go on, and it is essential that technology is
incorporated along with
A Rose For Emily Literary Analysis Essay
Areej Alzahrani
Smell of Time
Faulkner s work in the Rose for Emily uses sensational elements to highlight an
individual s struggle with time, attachment and an oppressive society. The literately
style of A Rose for Emily is that of Southern Gothic (Flora, 2002). According to
Morledge, southern gothic literature is defined by an important aspect in which the
use of grotesque events in writing is extensively used in most stories. Such events
are easily identified in A Rose for Emily . Faulkner is able to take us through time.
He has the ability to manipulate time by expanding the story out over several years.
Another fascinating element Faulkner used in the short story A Rose for Emily was
foreshadowing. He has a talent in building suspense throughout the story by dropping
hints everywhere, making the reader predict a different ending every time.
Women are continually suffering from society s oppression, and these oppression can
affect women s mental status. In this paper I will be discussing the struggle against

Of course they only found out about the dead corpse only after her death. Due to the
fact that she was a social idol, the townspeople were in denial that she had a mental
problem. According to the narrator in one of the important quotes from A Rose for
Emily by William Faulkner, the townspeople did not say she was crazy at first
(Faulkner, pg 238). Miss Emily may have developed a mental illness in response to
her idolization. She was looked at as a southern women from an elite family. She
had issues letting go of the men that shaped her life, and was abnormally attached
to close male figures in her life. It is believed due to her difficulty with coping with
the kind of stress she was facing with, she developed a psychological
The Largest Private Industry Of India And Second Largest...
Retailing is the largest private industry in India and second largest employer after
agriculture. This sector contributes to around 10 per cent of GDP and 6 7 per cent of
employment. With over 15 million retail outlets, India has the highest retail outlet
density in the world. This sector witnessed significant development in the past 10
years from small unorganized family owned retail formats to organized retailing.
Liberalization of the economy, rise in per capita income and growing consumerism
have encourage larger business houses and manufactures to set up retail formats; real
estate companies and venture capitalist are investing in retail infrastructure. Many
foreign retailers have also entered the market through different routes such as
wholesale cash and carry, local manufacturing, franchising, test marketing, etc. With
the growth in organized retailing, unorganized retailers are fast changing their
business models and implementing new technologies and modern accounting
practices to face competition (Andrews, 2003).
Traditionally, Indian retail sector has been characterized by the presence of a large
number of small unorganized retailers. With high GDP growth, increased
consumerism and liberalization of the manufacturing sector, India is being portrayed
as an attractive destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) in retailing. However,
at present this is one of the few sectors, which is closed to FDI. Within the country,
there has been significant protest from
Loss Of Identity In T. S. Eliot s The Hollow Men
The Hollow Men by T.S. Eliot could not be any truer with the messages of modern
society. Reading Hollow Men, the average person can find almost all of the
messages applying to modern day times. Especially in a high school setting. It was
obvious that Eliot was far ahead of his time when he nailed society on the head about
its imperfections. Three messages that Eliot portrays in The Hollow Menare: the self
identity crisis, the loss of faith, and the incredible force of skepticism. In which line
does The HollowMen show that humans suffer from loss of identity? Well, in lines
31 and 32 he gives a dark image of how fake people are. Let me also wear such
deliberate disguises. (Hollow 31 21) Now, the descriptive word that Eliot used is
deliberate. That means people purposely hid their true selves from the outside world.
In Worland High, countless students wear these deliberate disguises in fear of the
awful judgement that they may receive. However, it is not only students who are

Form prayers to broken stone. (Hollow 51) People still pray, but it s to nothing. As
in nothing meaning, they do not truly believe that praying will work. Many children
are raised up in a religion, and think nothing of them. There are followers and then
there are religious followers. Religious followers really believe and have faith in
their religion, will the others follow blindly, and could care less about their
religion. Eliot informs his readers about how the majority is only followers and
continue to get worse. In today s modern society, this is very true, Atheists and
Agnostic Atheists are very common. Perhaps it is because of the progression in
science proving many religious events to not be possible. Then again, is this
necessarily a good or a bad thing? Everyone is entitled to their one beliefs, just
because someone doesn t believe in God, does not mean they do not have
A Family Supper
Family Supper Analysis A Family Supper by Kazuo Ishiguro follows a story about
a man returning to his home in Japan after World War II to reconcile with his
family after his mother s death. The story demonstrates that losing loved ones bring
out different sides of people. This is shown by the narrator s father, a cold, stern
man who is very proud of his noble samurai blood that begins softening up in old age
in effort to reconnect with his familyafter losing them all to different causes. One
example of this is the narrator and the father reflecting on their past, with the
fathering admitting that [he] should have been a more attentive father (342). With
the death of his wife, the father has had to face many new challenges, and by doing
Fast Food Industry By Eric Schlosser
Estrella
Introduction
1. Eric Schlosser chose the topic of fast food industry because he became quite
inspired after reading an article about illegal immigrants in a strawberry field and
how they a suffered in the process. The article was based on an investigation that
was placed on the fields while they worked. It was also based on the immense
impact that this industry had on society. Schlosser wanted to as said in his book shed
light to the world on how successful hard working industry works. Also the way
American industries portray and work in the diligent industry throughout the years .
Since the fast food restaurants are known as one of the most active businesses which
makes them a perfect example of what he was trying to convey.
2. The Jungle s effect on both Theodore Roosevelt and the meatpacking industry
due to the fact that it was concentrated on the lives of immigrants which was very
impactful at the time. Many of which were going through unsanitary conditions as
well as health violations . It also portrayed the lack of social help in which no one
was doing anything to help those workers. Fast Food Nation hasn t impacted as
much because of how enormously Fast Food is a part of the world. As said in the
book purchasing fast food has been a part of life that is almost 1st nature to
Americans and those who expirience fast food daily , Because of this reforming fast
food companies would be extremly difficult to do.

The goal of antimicrobial susceptibility testing is to predict the success or failure of
antibiotic therapy. Tests are performed and measure the growth response of an
isolated organism to a selected drug or medicine. The results of antimicrobial
susceptibility testing ought to be combined with clinical information and skill once

basic of those is whether the causative organism is prone to a selected antibiotic, and

Ryanair
Introduction
Ryanair is one of the most profitable low cost and low fare airlines in the world.
Even though it was merely bankruptcy in 1991, it could stand up and become very
successful by 1999. An issues was what led Ryanair to huge losses in 1991, how did
it re gain its position, and what lay ahead in the next century.
Analysis
Prior to 1991, Ryanair had suffered from continuous losses from 1985 to 1989. The
first reason that put it into this situation was that it tried to position itself as a low
fare airline with the first rate services. It tried to keep low and unrestricted fare,
while keep focusing on the best customer service and relationship. This mixed model
was proven inefficiency. The low price could lure number of... Show more content on

Main reason were that it abolished the mixed model, applied low cost strategy,
improved its operation, reposition itself, and increase number of ancillary services.
A key issue that waited for Ryanair at the end of 1999 was how to move and what to
do to maintain or increase its market share.
From the analysis, Ryanair should maintain its current position. However, it is
strongly recommended to provide the check through baggage for connecting flights
for other airlines. This could increase number of passengers who have to transit via
a route that Ryanair provided. Moreover, it should increase ancillary services by
offering referral program to car rentals, hotels, and travel agencies. By doing this, it
could generate more revenue to provide more services in other parts.
For the in flight service, it is suggested that Ryanair should offer rental in flight
entertainments or internet services. As for a promotion, in the best case, it could
offer a free flight or IВЈ1 flight with limited seats to attract customers who never fly
before or those who love travelling.
In a worse case that an intense competition among employees occurs, the company
should reset its pays distribution and incentives before (or along with) follow the
above recommendations. Moreover, in the worst case that many more low cost and
low fare airlines enter the same route with Ryanair, it is highly suggested that
Alcohol Addiction Is A Never Ending Problem Essay
In the state of Wisconsin where I currently reside, alcohol addiction is a never
ending problem. Alcohol is often associated with football games, baseball and even
social gatherings. Unfortunately, alcohol can also be a coping mechanism for those
who are dealing with a loss of a family member, financial crisis or even
homelessness. The cost of alcohol addiction and treatment in the State of Wisconsin
is approximately $6.8 billion and rising due to the continued abuse of alcohol
(Wisconsin Department of Health Services, 2014, p. 14). With the high usage of
alcohol abuse, one must turn to programs within their local community for support
and treatment.
In the community in which I live one would have to say that it is rural. There is only
one AA support group that is held in my town once a week at the local church that I
attend. To get more counseling or treatment support one must travel 20 minutes. In
the town of Stevens Point, WI, there is NA, AA, inpatient rehab facilities as well as
outpatient, and numerous facilities that offer ongoing counseling. The residential
facility in Stevens Point, is ran through the hospital and offers group therapy, family
therapy, individual counseling, and introductions to twelve step philosophy (
Residential treatment center, 2016, para. 4). The treatment center believes in the
group concept so one can build friendships and interact with others. The facility has
15 beds, while two share a room, large kitchen and dining area to work on the
John Greenleaf Whittier s View On Slavery
In the nineteenth century, the idea of abolishing slavery was a sensitive topic in the
United States. John Greenleaf Whittier was not shy about his belief that slavery
should be abolished from the whole country. With the United States on the brink of
a civil war, Whittier published his poems and gave slaves a new voice. It s because
of his strong belief in abolishment that I can relate to Whittier s writings. Although I
was not alive in the nineteenth century, nor was anyone I know that is alive today,
slaveryis still a relevant topic to me. With millions of people stuck in the ring of
human trafficking and children being forced to work on farms and factories across
the globe, slavery is still very alive today. I strongly believe in the idea of
abolishing all types of slavery and although Whittier was more focused on African
American slaves of the South, his quotes still apply to the situations we see today.
For instance, Whittier writes, Until IMMORTAL MIND Unshackled walks abroad,
And chains no longer bind The image of our God. Until no captive one Murmurs on
land or wave; And, in his course, the sun Looks down upon no SLAVE (Cain, p.
731). He writes this showing how strongly he and many others wanted... Show more

In his poem, Hunters of Men , Whittier writes, All mounting the saddle, all grasping
the rein , Right merrily hunting the black man, whose sin Is the curl of his hair and
the hue of his skin (Cain, p. 722). I feel like by adding these lines into his poem,
Whittier is trying to show how preposterous slavery was. People, (mainly whites),
were hunting down fellow humans simply because they had a different hair and skin
color than they did! That is something that I agree with a hundred percent, slavery
was based on irrational ideas, which will forever give the United States a bad
Theology Of Repentance And The Old Covenant
Introduction of Theology of Repentance and Forgiveness
When studying the nature of God or theology, one ascertains what God does and
did for humanity. One of God s nature was a family and in His infinite wisdom, He
created humankind to be His family with an adoration to praise Him for the
wonderful acts He bestows. Strong shares, The aim of theology is the ascertainment of
the facts respecting God and the relations between God and the universe, and the
exhibition of these facts in their rational unity, as connected parts of a formulated and
organic system of truth. Additionally, there is the science that tries to unlock the
mysteries of God. However, science has its limitations to unlocking this mystery.
Strong continues, In defining theology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was too upset to have a conversation with him and knew that if I did talk to him, I
would say something ungodly. In order to prevent that, I chose to keep my
distance. Sometime later, he wanted to continue the subject and stated, I was upset
with how you wanted to handle the issue, so let s see if we can come to an
agreement on how to resolve it. When reading the above scenario, repentance never
occurred from my friend. Although I forgave him for the remarks, and it was
several weeks until he finally repented or has remorse for making the comments,
however, the initial response was not repentance. Before I reconnected with my
friend, I used some of Sande s method. He states, Preparation is one of the most
important elements of successful negotiation (Prov. 14:8, 22). This is especially true
when significant issues or strong feelings are involved.
Pray. I asked God to give me the right words to say, to keep me from being offensive.
Study the Bible. I read scriptures and had some prepared for the conversation.
Scriptures such as Colossians 4:6, letting your conversation be of grace; Ephesians
4:29, do not let wrong communication come out your mouth; Proverbs 15:28, the
heart weighs its answers, just to name a few.
Develop options. I developed a plan and a course of action to handle the business so
that I had other options when I would be confronted with the

Essay on Import Substitution Industrialization
Around the 1930s, Brazil and Latin American began following the process of Import
Substitution Industrialization, which lasted until the end of the 1980s. The ISI
policies devaluated the currency in order to boost exports and discourage imports,
followed by adopting different exchange rates for goods (Watkins). ISI in Brazilhad
an interesting effect; it created a three prong system of governmental, private, and
foreign capital being directed at the infrastructure and heavy industry, manufacturing
goods, and the production of durable goods. The program worked at first but then
became a serious economic problem. When the 1980s came around Brazil realized
that ISI policies lead to inefficient industries because of their lack of exposure to...

This helped keep the inflation low and with the high interest rates, a lot of foreign

tried to maintain a positive influx of capital into the nation by appeasing the
international public and to improve the economy (Joffe Watt). The Real Plan helped
the economy so much that it began gaining value against the US currency, however in
the late 1990s the currency began to devaluate. For the Real Plan to keep working the
currency had to appreciate with the economy, this would assure a constant supply of
foreign capital and products that maintained the market stable.
Following the Real Plan, Brazil had a minor economic downturn but after 2002, the
economy has been increasing at a steady pace. The economy was able to grow
around 4% in 2000, however the issues in Argentina in 2001 and the uncertainty of
whom the next president would be created a confidence crisis in the economy.
However in 2002 when Luis InГЎcio Lula da Silva (Lula) won the election most of
the issues about his presidency went thrown out because of his policies. Even though
Lula had very liberal policies he began making Brazil look
Essay On Beethoven V For Vendetta
Of all the classical composers, Ludwig van Beethoven is perhaps the most iconic.
Whatever the format, be it audio, video, or print, the influence of Beethoven cannot
be ignored. In Episode Seventeen of the Warner Brothers cartoon, Animaniacs, the
titular trio of anthropomorphic tricksters harass the composer as he composes his
fifth symphony. In V For Vendetta, Alan Moore uses Beethoven to further the
recurring symbol of V s in the work, by masking a conversation with Beethoven s
Fifth. This was a musical double entendre, as not only is V the Roman numeral for
five, but the opening notes serve as a V in Morse Code. This same symphony, or at
least the first movement, served as the basis of the famous hit song A Fifth of
Beethoven, from Saturday Night Fever. The maestro can be found in so many
aspects of our culture, but how much do we really know about him?

His health once again took a turn for the worst as he came down with an
inflammatory illness that left him stricken for more than a year. While thus
afflicted, his younger brother, Carl, died of tuberculosis in 1815. He had been sick
for some time, as characteristic of the illness, but his passing posed a difficulty for
Ludwig that extended beyond the emotional. Carl had a son, Karl, who was being
left in the custody of his mother, Johanna. Ludwig had previously stepped in to
oppose Johanna, as she was of a questionable moral standing. When Carl had met
her, she was pregnant with another man s child and had previously been convicted
of theft. What ensued was a lengthy legal battle that pulled Ludwig away from
composition. When the dust had settled five years later, Ludwig won custody of his
nephew. He loved the boy, but had an overbearing and coarse demeanor, driving the
boy to attempt suicide. Johanna was granted custody and, though he eventually
reconciled with Karl, they were never again close. Karl joined the army and never

Speech On Dog House Training
You have to be persistent with dog house training. There has to be at least one
person that you have met in your life that simply never quite gotten the grasp of dog
house training. You know the one I am talking about, the dog lover who faithfully
keeps their pet indoors and spends their spare time cleaning up accidents . When you
step inside the door of their home, the stench of urine almost knocks you over. Ugh,
what happened?
So much fuss is made today about dog house training. A quick online search will
show you thousands of websites offering you the latest, greatest tips on how to
house break your dog. Yet, everyone keeps searching for the magic formula that will
make all of the unwanted messes go away. Have you ever wondered why?

Take your dog out to the bathroom first thing in the morning, and just before bed.
Pick up food and water bowls approximately one hour before you plan to retire for
the night. Most dogs also have to use the bathroom very soon after eating, so be sure
to plan on an outing after meals.
Confining your dog to a crate in another part of dog house training. But you have to
be careful not to leave them in too long. Make sure that you select a dog crate large
enough that your dog can turn around and lay down comfortably. Whenever you are
not able to watch your dog, and at night, confine them inside of it. The idea is to use
their natural aversion of going to the bathroom where they sleep to teach them not to
potty in the house. This means that the first thing that you must do when letting your
dog out of the crate is immediately take them outside.
Dog house training is different for older dogs and depends on their health condition.
If you have an older dog that is persistently urinating or defecating in the house,
despite attempts to correct it, a visit to the veterinarian may be in order. As dogs age
they can suffer from kidney failure, low hormones, and mental lapses. If this is the
case, correcting some of the underlying problems may help stop the
Literary Analysis Of The Jungle
American novelist Upton Sinclair wrote a book we all know as The Jungle, which
portrays the harsh conditions and terrible lives of immigrants in the United States. In
doing so, Sinclair exposes the meat industry s harsh working conditions, health
violations, and unsanitary practices. The Jungle is one example where the
communication of a message generated a profound effect on the world. The novel
uses rhetorical devices, a distinct tone, and three modes of persuasion to prove the
meat industry s overall lack of sanitation.
Some Americans didn t think that the novel had a single impact on America and
American lives. However, the novel brought to light the terrible, nasty conditions of
the meat packing industry, creating riots throughout the ... Show more content on

For example, he appeals to the emotions of the audience when he described the
horrible working conditions. Aristotle s three modes of persuasion helped Sinclair
create a novel that generated a profound effect on America because it played on the
emotions of the audience and made them feel like they needed to help make a change.
Murray writes that, A good piece of writing is always marked by a consistent,
individual tone , meaning if a writer doesn t have a clear consistent tone then the
message will not be received in the same way as pieces of writing with a strong
consistent tone. Throughout his novel, Sinclair develops a strong, candidly grim,
tone. Sinclair s tone supported his message to change the world by giving readers the
chance to understand the horrors that were happening inside the meat packing
industry.
Paine changed the world when he wrote Common Sense advocating the thirteen
colonies independence from Great Britain. Rhetorical devices were one of the
many techniques used to get his message across to his audience. His piece was
stocked with almost every rhetorical device ever created. For example, he used the
rhetorical device of similes when he says, The least fracture now will be like a
name engraved with the point of a pin... Following suit, Sinclair also used many
rhetorical devices to add more depth and meaning to his novel. He used a simile
when he says, their

merging hypergrowth market, a challenge covered in a subsequent book, Inside

incorporate improvements that have evolved over the past several years of
consulting at The Chasm Group. Elsewhere, I took a slightly new angle on creating
the competition and, when it came to the section on distribution, I have done my
best to incorporate the emerging influence of the Internet. But the overwhelming
bulk of the changes in this new edition representing about a third of total text

other cases, there s been a little forcefitting, and I want to beg your indulgence up

new effect which was just barely visible in the prior decade, the piggybacking of one
company s offer on another to skip the chasm entirely and jump straight into
hypergrowth. In the 1980s Lotus piggybacked
Aron Ralston Character Traits
Each person has their own unique combinations of personalities traits or skills.
Sometimes those unique combinations of traits or skills can either save you or hurt
you during a deadly situation. For Aron Ralston being someone who is
determined, athletic, and experienced at hiking probably saved his life when he
plunged into Bluejohn canyon and was trapped there for five days. For someone
who fell into Aron s situation and wasn t that athletic as Aron they would have not
survived the full five days that Aron was stuck for. During the movie 127 the actor
portraying as Aron cut off his own arm in order to escape the boulder that was
stuck on his hand. Yea whatever he cut of his hand, but he did after five days later
after barely enough food or water. If a non athletic person tried to cut of their hand

Chinese Migration
In the year of 2017, Canada will be celebrating 132 years since the completion of the
CPR, the Canadian Pacific Railway. The completion of the transcontinental railway
was critical for the survival of the newly formed country of Canada. It finally unified
the country from coast to coast, economically, and physically linking the wide set of
land together. However, even though the building of the railroad was a dangerous and
a long construction, it created employment for thousands of Chinese workers. The

Many citizens of Canada believed that the Chinese had come to take away their
jobs, urging on great amount of racism. The Prime Minister of Canada at the time,
John A. Macdonald, insisted on the recruitment of the Chinese workers in the
interest of reducing costs. The Chinese workers were paid one fifth to one half of
the salaries Canadian workers received. Not only did they provide cheap labour for
their employers, but would also do the jobs Canadians would not. Just as shown in
the Heritage Minute, the Chinese workers were used to blow up rock with the
explosive nitroglycerin. As mentioned in the Heritage Minute, it is said that for
every mile of the railway, one Chinese worker died. Some argue that it is more
accurate to say that for every mile of the railway, four Chinese workers died.
However, the Chinese workers brought more to the production of the CPR than just
cheap labour; they brought with them their knowledge and experience, proving to be

Jenny Saville s Obsession To Get The Perfect Body
Much of media has enhanced the obsession with looks, beauty, and the perfect
body. Many feminists try to fight against this thinking, as women have always been
judged for their looks. Jenny Saville takes an interesting position on the subject, her
paintings of nude women being exaggerated. The women tended to be very obese,
in contrast with the lithe, skinny models in the media. Saville also painted
transgender men and women. Her work was an expression of her distaste for the
horrible means and obsession to get the perfect body, as well as the suffering many
people did in order to obtain this desirable beauty. The figures were often obese,
mutilated, and deformed. The paintings also contrast previous depictions of women
in the male dominated field of art.
Jenny Saville was a British painter born in 1970. Her originally focus was on nude
figures, specifically women. Her painting, Branded, painted in 1992 was a self
portrait of herself. However, her body is largely exaggerated. Saville made herself
obese in the painting, as her breasts are rather large and saggy, and she is grabbing
her stomach fat. Words such as delicate,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this painting has circles drawn on the woman. This is what plastic surgeons
do to mark what areas to change. Many women at that time got plastic surgery and
liposuction to achieve the perfect body that everyone desired. Saville learned most
of her knowledge about human anatomy through watching plastic surgeons do their
procedures, and used this knowledge to make her paintings accurate. Saville once
again uses the cruel reality of the lengths women go to achieve a certain body. Her
use of color, and nude women bring the work to life, and many women could see
themselves in these paintings, as they also wanted to achieve a certain unrealistic
beauty standard. Saville s paintings portrayed the reality of the judgement and
insecurity of

Video game began to solidify itself as a leading source of entertainment and as a

Children s access to Video games since those who have played video games has

children who play video games have a better mental capability than Children who

Endangerment For Snow Leopards
Snow Leopards are natives to the rugged mountains of Central Asia. Snow
leopards are very shy towards humans. In fact, there has never been any type of
verification on snow leopards attacking a human being even when being disturbed
during a meal chances are they will run away scared instead of attacking. There are
between 3,920 and 6,390 snow leopards left in the wild. Even though numbers are
shown to be improving over the years there is still high chances of endangerment
for Snow Leopards. Some of the reasons for the snow leopards approaching
endangerment is poaching. Trades with snow leopard parts tend to happen low
key. Between the years 2008 and 2016 snow leopards were often killed and traded
every day Roughly 220 to 450 cats per year. Poaching also takes away from the
snow leopards resources. With its main prey species sheep and goats also being
threatened by illegal huntingall through the snow leopard range which means if their
populations decline, so do the snow leopards. Warming temperatures could also spell
trouble for snow leopards as it causes tree lines to move up the mountains causing a
lot of farmers to plant their crops and livestock at higher altitudes that they are not
used to, forcing the snow leopards into extremely smaller ranges where they are often
coming into conflict with humans. Increasing temperatures could drastically change
the flow of water down from the mountains and threatening livelihoods of people
across the continent. Farmers often
Factors for Your Personal Credit Score
In my research I found that three companies are used in the United States as the
primary determiners for credit score. The companies that determine credit score are
Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. The components I discovered that make up your
personal credit score are: Payment History, Lines of New Credit, How much you
owe, and finally length of credit historywith other factors as well rounding out the
table. Payment history makes up the largest percentage at Thirty Five percent.
They use your past behavior in determining what you will do in the future. This is
considered the most important factor in calculating credit scores because if they
do not have data to show how you have performed in the past that might be
misleading and could lead to someone with terrible credit in the past to open many
new credit cards. They take into account the two types of loans, revolving and
installment. Revolving loans are the types that always fluctuate, like opening new
charge card accounts. Installments are paid back in portions like if you have
payments to make on a car lease or mortgaging a home. If you default on a loan it is
not always going to result in identical damage to your credit score. The amount of
damage to defaulting is determined by the size of the installment. If you are working
on boosting your credit to a higher rating, you should always pay on or by the due
date.
The second biggest component to a credit score is the debt amounts. Debt amounts
makes up around
Essay about From Ireland to America
America is the world s melting pot. American heritage stems from all over the world.
The Irish are the second largest group to immigrate to the United States, and they
have left their mark on the American culture (Gavin 7). Kevin Kenny argues that The
Irish immigrants of the famine era were the most disadvantaged the United Stateshad
ever seen. The Irish potato famine was caused by a fungus that caused the potato to
rot in the ground. Between the years 1845 and 1850 over one million Irish died of
starvation. Another one and a half Irish immigrated to other countries. Since their
main source of food was gone they became refugees of the famine. If they had not

The poor people of Ireland were dependant on the potato because they were easy to
grow, lasted a long time, and the only crop the British left for them ( The Irish
Potato Famine, 1847 ). In 1845 the potatoes started to rot in the ground. Over one
million Irish men and women died of starvation. The famine also caused many
diseases like Typhus (Mintz). Many of the people who were starving and infected
tried to escape Ireland by going to the United States. The Irish at this time were
predominantly catholic. Joseph O Grady says, Their deep respect for Christianity,
bordering on blind fanaticism, gave the Irish their own hope peace and happiness in
the next world (31). The Irish had very tough lives in Ireland when they were under
the control of the British.
The journey to America was very long and rough. The Irish immigrants were
refugees of the potato famine. If they had stayed in Ireland, they most likely would
have died. Since the poor people of Ireland were dependant on potatoes they had to
escape or choose to die. Another threat to the Irish was the deadly diseases caused
by the famine. The famine helped spread diseases like typhus, cholera, dysentery,
and scurvy all over Ireland. Over 1 million people died of these diseases or

Even though he attempts to rationalize his situation, it is evident of a

Solving The Solvency Issue Of The Highway Trust Fund

members of the United States Congress, as well as numerous other influential
leaders, have been discussing means of addressing this broken Highway Trust
Fund. This issue has been consistently thrown on the back burner for some time
and due to this procrastination an issue that would have been an easy fix a few
years ago has now ballooned into a much larger issue. Lately it seems like every
time I turn on the news I have seen news reports of bridges collapsing and pot holes
getting worse, it scary to think that I will one day have children driving on these
roads if our Government can t find a solution. As you can see this is an imminent
issue that has vast implications our economy, safety and sanity (i.e., traffic) and it
is for that reason that we as Americans need to speak up in regards to what should

however, due to the underlying issues with each of these solutions Congress has

Fund, in this article I will briefly describe a few of the solutions that have been
proposed and discuss what I believe to be a better approach to dealing with this ever

Compare And Contrast Hardin And Ostrom
The Tragedy of the Commons by Garrett Hardin and A General Framework for
Analyzing Sustainability of Social Ecological Systems by Elinor Ostrom both offer
perspectives on the way humans interact with common pool resources, as well as
the property regimes that govern them. A Common Pool Resource (CPR) is defined
by Dietz as a valued natural resource that is available to more than one person and
subject to degradation as a result of overuse. (Hagerman, 2014 a).
Hardin offers a perspective on CPRs through analogies to commons , areas of open
access where there is an absence of well defined property rights [and] access is
unregulated and open to anyone. (Hagerman, 2014a) He explains a scenario where
multiple herders own cattle, which all graze on one common plot of land. The
herders weigh the benefits and costs of adding one more cow, and going beyond the
carrying capacity of the commons. If one herder adds a cow, the cost is subtracted
evenly from the well being of the all herders. The benefits, however, are realised
uniquely by the herder who added the cow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

such as that of the high seas. She introduces the Social Ecological System (SES),

The Libertarian Argument Analysis
In the United States institutionalized prohibition based cannabis policies defy widely
accepted societal values, delegitimizing the state s authority of law, neglecting its
responsibility to respect individual free will and ultimately, the right of self
determination. These unjustified policies take a heavy financial and social toll on
society, forcing law enforcement to spend time and money to arrest a majority of non
violent, low level offenders. In addition, marijuana policies and enforcement have
been seen as inherently biased and discriminatory. Not only that, but the medical
applications of cannabisare increasingly becoming recognized and accepted as a
standard in terms of treating diseases and relieving physical or mental ailments.
Furthermore, statistics have shown that legalization leads to a decreased use of
marijuana among teens and minors. Dollar wise, cannabis... Show more content on

Political activist and Libertarian representative J. Wilson comments on this saying
We believe that people own their own bodies and what they choose to put in them.
That also means people own the products of their labor (The Libertarian Argument
for Legalizing Marijuana 2015). Accordingly, this accounts for why the state should
have no say to arbitrarily decide what people can and can t consume. Prohibition
must be measured against the deprivation of personal freedom. Likewise, the United
States has an obligation to the people to respect the right of self determination and
individual free will. In this case, self ownership prevails over government regulation
in regards to prohibition based cannabis policies. Hence, reform is necessary so the
fundamental of self ownership isn t denied to individuals. The principles of human
freedom should be respected by the federal

Prehensile Tail Research Paper
Prehensile Tails
Creatures have a variety of traits that make them unique. This can include traits such
as having scales as opposed to fur or having claws or opposable thumbs. As traits are
passed down from generation to generation, individuals of the species that have traits
that help them survive and thrive in their current environment tend to reproduce
more. This leads to a higher frequency of the population having this desireable trait.
When a creature has a trait that allows them to survive and thrive in their
environment, this trait is called an adaptation. (OpenStax, 2013)
One example of an adaptation that helps creatures thrive in their environment is the
prehensile tail. A prehensile tail is a tail that can be used to grasp objects in the
environment. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through natural selection these prehensile tailed mammals were able to reproduce
and the adaptation was passed on to their offspring.
(Mirajkar, 1970)
Regarding adaptations, there are two main types; homologous adaptations and
analogous adaptations. In a homologous adaptation, creatures with the adaptation are
all thought to come from a common ancestor. In an analogous adaptation, the
adaptation develops separately because of a common necessity, but a common
ancestor is not present. Prehensile tails would be considered analogous. While many
monkeys have a common ancestor, prehensile tails have also been seen in reptiles
and fish. The structure of each different type of tail is radically different. Some
lizards have detachable prehensile tails, while the prehensile tail of most monkeys is
an extension of vertebrae from their spinal cord. This suggests that they do not share
a common ancestor. (Homologies and Analogies, n.d.)
Another way to classify adaptations is into convergent and divergent evolutions.
In a divergent evolution, a common ancestor eventually gives way to several different
adaptations. Adaptations that come from a common ancestor are called
The Treatment Of Nuclear Accidents
Committee Name: Ad Hoc on Disaster
Committee Topic: The Treatment of Nuclear Accidents
Committee Name: United Kingdom
A. Since the first major nuclear accident recorded in 1952, more than 33 serious
incidents at nuclear stations have been identified worldwide. Within the history of
nuclear power, the three major nuclear accidents are the Three Mile Island,
Chernobyl and Fukushima; the Three Mile Island incident in Pennsylvania, U.S.was
safely contained overall whereas Chernobyl and Fukushima resulted in large
damage to the surrounding area as well as discharge of radioactive content from the
plant.(1)The Chernobyl incident in northern Ukraine resulted in the death of 28
plant workers as a result of thermal burns and radiation exposure in the first four
months following the accident, while Chernobyl was found to be responsible for
about 7,000 cases of thyroid cancer within individuals under 18.(2) In the event of a
nuclear accident, the main concern is the release of radioactive material, most likely
from a nuclear core meltdown and a breach in the containment of nuclear substances.
These concerns have led to the utilization of procedures following an accident;
evacuation from the area of the incident to prevent contamination, taking shelter in
ventilation closed areas to avoid radiation, disposal of contaminated products as well
as use of proper medical procedures.(3)
B. Following the Fukushima incident, the UNSCEAR (UN Scientific Committee on

Compare And Contrast Ps4 Vs Xbox
Is the xbox one better or is it the ps4 they are both great systems but which one is
the best.I prefer the xbox one but most people disagree ask my brother lets see is
xbox better or ps4. The Xbox One features voice recognition software that powers
the console. This makes it easy for the user to give the Xbox One clear voice
commands which it can then carry out, such as Xbox on, or Xbox, TV . Due to the
new built in Kinect, the Xbox One can also be controlled with hand movements,
like a simple swipe of the hand, or by grabbing and dragging things. The price of
Xbox Live hasn t changed, there are many new features this version of xbox brings
to you the people. The xbox one now runs off of 300,000 servers that s more than the
entire world s computing power in 1999!... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interface on the PS4 s controller is a capacitive touchpad, meaning that it can
support two touches at once, and can therefore be used as a form of a controller
for gaming as seen in the game War Thunder. Yes they are both similar systems like
xbox one and ps4 both have great graphics and top edge systems. They both have
the best games created for any system these systems go head to head to see which
one is the best but both are so good they can t tell. The PS4 is obviously better than
the xbox one the graphics we have the Playstation VR, and we have a gamepad on the
controller with a camera so u can play even better. PS4 obviously beats the xbox
Explain The Role It Plays In The Circulatory System
Section A
Explain the functions of the heart, and structure of arties, veins and capillaries.
The function of the heart is the blood pumps through the body by the circulatory
system. The blood will provide the body with oxygen and nutrients. The heart controls
the circulatory system.
Veins
Transport the blood to the heart
The lumen passage is large
Have dark red blood and is deoxygenated
The valves in the veins prevents back flow
Arteries
The blood is bright red and there is oxygen in the blood
They are thick walled
Delivers nutrients to the cells in the body e.g. iron
The lumen passage is small
Capillaries
They are thin walled
They allow a passage of gases and nutrients e.g. sodium and potassium

Explain four different types of joints and their functions.
According to Louise Tucker we have 5 different types of joints in our body.
The 4 I have chosen are:
Ball and socket joints: this is in the hip and the shoulder; it allows flexion and
rotation in our body and is one of the most moveable joints.
Gliding joints: these bones are the least movable of joints; this allows the bones to
glide over each other.
Saddle joint: provides stability to bones and provide more flexibility, it is between
the trapezium of carpus and metacarpal of thumb.
Hinge joint: you can find this joint in the knee, ankle and elbow. It only moves in the
one direction and can extend.
Label the main bones of the appendicular and axial skeleton.
Labelled diagram is on the next page.

Involuntary Outpatient Commitment Essay
Involuntary Outpatient Commitment In 1955, over 559,000 individuals resided in
inpatient psychiatric hospitals. By 1995, however, the number had drastically
diminished to 69,000, (National Health Policy Forum, 2000). This drastic reduction
was largely due to the discovery of antipsychotic medications in the 1950s, and the
deinstitutionalization movement of the 1960s, wherein several thousands of mentally
ill individuals were released from psychiatric institutions to return to their
communities for treatment. Mental health centers (MHCs) were conceptualized
during deinstitutionalization to provide treatment to these newly released mentally ill
persons in their communities. Although efforts were well intended, the MHCs failed

The Olmstead Act requires public agencies to provide services in the most integrated
setting appropriate to the needs of qualified individuals with disabilities. Further, the
act mandates that states place qualified individuals with mental illnesses in
community settings, rather than in institutions. Being placed under IOC is
contingent upon whether or not such placement is appropriate, affected persons do
not oppose such placement, and the state can reasonably accommodate the placement,
taking into account resources available to the state and needs of others with
disabilities, (The Center for an Accessible Society, 1999). In conclusion, the Olmstead
Act provided for the legal groundwork to both provide and enforce IOC. Research has
shown IOC to be more effective when combined with additional components.
Examples of these components include psychiatric advance directives, Assertive Case
Management (ACM), representative payees, conditional release, conservatorship
/guardianship, and mental health courts. Psychiatric advance directives are legal
documents that permit mentally ill individuals to authorize and specify treatment in
anticipation of future periods of mental incapacity. ACM consists of mental health
teams that actively assist with treatment in the home. Representative payees are
trusted persons designated by a mentally ill individual that help that individual use
funds wisely by being the payee of benefits. Conditional
Immigrant s Journey
It had been a few weeks since the incident, but, I still couldn t take my mind off of
it. It was atrocious. It was midnight and I was restless. I kept tossing and turning.
Finally, I sat up and sighed. I heard whispering, but, it was pitch black and I couldn t
see a thing. The whispering got loud enough for me to hear. It was Motherand Father.
I only earned a few cents this week. I don t think it ll help pay off our debts. Father
whispered. He sounded disappointed in himself. It s not your fault, Mother replied.
Why don t you look for another job? I ve heard that the number of jobs has
increased ever since immigrants like us have come to the United States. Even if I

situation. I had no other choice but to find a job. Apparently, I did in a matter of
Description Of The Road Trip
Road Trip It was the morning of July 5th, 2015. My alarm sounded off at around
4:30 AM telling me it was time to get ready and head out. I grabbed my duffle bag
full of clothes, got in my truck, and headed to my girlfriend s house who lives five
minutes away. I pulled into the driveway with excitement rushing through my
body. She was standing there, all packed, wearing a Boston Red Sox hat. We had
gone shopping the night before for food and drinks we thought we needed. We had
a cooler full of ice and piled everything up in there and placed it in the trunk of our
car along with our tent, blankets, and other miscellaneous items we were going to
need. Multiple pillows lined the backseat, and a trashcan was placed on the floor to
collect our... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Downstairs we picked up some breakfast that the hotel provided, checked out, and
then got back on the road headed to Tennessee. It wasn t long until we crossed the
border into the Volunteer State, and the first big city we stopped in was Nashville.
We parked in a garage and walked around for a couple hours, taking everything in.
stores lined Main Street, filled with cowboy boots and souvenirs that could draw
anybody s attention. Knowing that we were on a tight schedule, we bought a few
souvenirs then were on our way to the last stop of the day. We know found
ourselves in the boondocks of Lebanon, Tennessee. I turned onto the dirt road that
led to the campground we would be staying at. After taking almost twenty minutes
to set up our tent, we threw our air mattress inside and were forced to blow it up on
our own, since the electric pump decided to short circuit. The humidity was so
heavy that I nearly passed out because of it, but we both managed to make it
through the night safely with only a few bug bites. We were on the road again in
the morning heading to our next hotel in Arkansas. The landscape began to open
up, and on either side I could see fields of corn span for miles. After hundreds of
miles, we made it to our next spot and got some much needed sleep. The next day,
we crossed over into Oklahoma. The landscape wasn t much different here, but this is
where we met Route 66. We first visited the Route 66
Hazel s Oxygen Concentrator
Hazel Lancaster is introduced as a clinically depressed cancer patient, letting us
know that she s cursed with a shortened life from the start. However, when she
meets Augustus Waters at support group, her state seems to take a turn for the
better. Together, the two of them embark on the adventure of their ephemeral
lives, encountering everything from love, loss, life, and heartbreak along the way.
That being said, for our free choice we decided to make a model of Philip, Hazel s
oxygen concentrator. According to Hazel, it s called this because it just kind of
looked like a Philip, as said on page 39. The concentrator is described as large and
rectangular, constantly delivering oxygen to Hazel, which is needed because of her

Essay about Love
Love Love is difficult to define, difficult to measure, and difficult to understand.
Love is what great writers write about, great singers sing about, and great
philosophers ponder. Love is a powerful emotion, for which there is no wrong
definition, for it suits each and every person differently. Whether love is between
family, friends, or lovers, it is an overwhelming emotion that can be experienced in
many different ways. People experience love for the first time by being part of a
family. Family love is demonstrated through lessons of sacrifice, concern and
compassion, from the cradle to the grave. There are many different levels and
conditions of family love. It is the love we cherish between our intermediate family
and our... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A close knit loving bond between two people can begin with a friendship. Whether
it is a friendship between two males, two females, or one male and one female,
these friendships will develop into love. In no way is it a romantic love, but this
type of love connects and bonds friends. Friends may move away or friendships
may wane, but the love between the two people burns on forever. Romantic love is
a love that not every person will experience. It is a type of love that is not there at
the beginning, but grows within the individual. When one finally finds the love
they have been looking for, one can not imagine life with anybody else. Romantic
love is a connection between two souls that is captured with a feeling that is not
only felt within the heart but within their body as well. I have never been in love
with a girl; I can only imagine what it might be like to be in love. Guessing from
my sister s relationship with boys, it seems like a big headache instead of a
wonderful feeling. To simply write a definition of love is complicated because
every person has a different perception of love. The only way to capture the true
meaning of love is to experience the feeling and find out for oneself, what love is. In
our lives and the lives of others, love is evident. Whether it is between family,
friends, or lovers, love is a precious
Winnie The Pooh
Winnie the Pooh once said, You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem,
and smarter than you think. . This is very true for the year that I have had. This year
has been crazy, fun, stressing, creative, and educational all wrapped into one.
The beginning of the year wasn t exactly as I envisioned as an eighth grader. I
thought that going to high school would be some life changing experience with new
people and more privileges. It turned out that it wasn t that life changing so much as
perspective changing and there was more work, more stress, and privileges tend to
come with a price. My first day left me nervous, lost, confused, stressed,
overwhelmed, and tired by the end of the day. The first thing I did when I got home

My overall favorite class has got to be my geography class. Despite the challenging
curriculum, I had many memories of talking with friends as we stress about work,
complaining of not having a morning coffee, and learning independence through
unique projects and solitary assignments. Another class which brings many
memories is choir. I have learned so many lessons from the people in choir.
Diversity, uniqueness, many personalities converging, and amazing people to
influence someone is what comes to mind when I think of choir. Organized chaos
is usually the norm and the craziest people are the best people. Despite all the
chaos, good friends are there. The best parts are the people, performing, the singing,
choreography, and being able to be yourself and being totally accepted by everyone.
Choir has been a highlight of my year and every single moment is one to remember.
Another memory of mine is the story of one of my choir concerts. It was chaotic as
everyone came into the choir room and every freshman was lost. We all came
together and did vocal warmups and despite all the chaos we all came together for
an amazing concert that wowed and made us all smile. I learned many lessons that
night but the most major one was probably that despite all the chaos, everything will
be okay in the end even if it doesn t seem that way in the

  • 2. Henry Viii And The Succession From 1533 to 1553 the succession line in England dismembered itself into a churning goblet of contrasting egos. (hook) One minute Henry VIII was declaring his first born child a Bastard and his second child, the rightful ruler of England, the next minute he swore that both were bastards, and therefore needed to make a formal will. By doing this, Henry VIII had the unusual opportunity to choose his successor(s). First in line would be his new son, then his bastard daughters who would be named legitimate heirs to the throne if needed. After them, Frances Grey would inherit the title. This left Lady Jane Greyfourth in line to the throne. In the succession acts, that Henry VIII also passed before Edward VI could declare his will, Henry made it very clear that if another person were to interrupt his line of succession, he or she would be executed for treason. It appeared to England as if Jane was digging her heels into Henry s succession in 1553 when she took the throne; disrupting the succession and committing treason. They would execute her for this.(discussion) People today should consider Lady Jane Grey to be just as heroic and brave as we have realized Joan of Arc to be. (thesis) From Jane s exceptional dedication to learning, to how she compares to other rulers that came after her, it becomes evident that Jane s parents, The Duke of Northumberland, and Henry VIII robbed their country of another elegant lasting female ruler, rather than Jane being the one who was
  • 3. Internet Gambling Essay Abstract: Internet gambling has become one of the hottest areas of the web, both in the sheer volume of sites and quantity of money involved. Increasing controversy is accompanying this new industry, as federal and state government officials scramble to update legislation that restricts interstate wagering. This paper examines the roots of Internet gambling and exposessome of the motivations driving the heated debate over its legitimacy. The business to consumer sector of the Internet commerce arena contains the most lucrative and fastest growing web based industry: online gambling, which includes sports wagering, casino style games and lotteries [1]. In a September 11th article from last year, Wired on line reported ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After a Senate Judiciary Committee endorsed the bill 16 1[4], the measure moved to the House for consideration in July 2000, where representatives currently deliberate on its merits [8]. Representative James Leach of Iowa then proposed the Internet Gambling Funding Prohibition Act, which has also failed to become ratified. Introduced shortly after Kyl brought the of the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act to the House, the bill had a two fold purpose: first, to prohibit online gambling companies from knowingly accepting wagers placed on credit; and second, to absolve unknowing financial intermediaries [i.e., credit card companies] of legal and monetary responsibility when gamblers use their services for credit transactions [9]. The motivation for the legislation may have come from the bizarre 1998 lawsuit filed in Marin County, CA by Cynthia Haines, who lost $70,000 dollars through Internet wagers

  • 6. The Veldt By Ray Bradbury The Veldt by Ray Bradbury focuses on the unintended consequences of parents letting their two children have unregulated use of technology. Bradbury conveys tone through imagery, diction, similes, and sentence structure. In this story, Bradbury repeats a set of sentences. He writes a long, smooth, flowing sentence followed by a series of short, choppy sentences. The long sentence draws the reader into an African scene, while the short sentences, such as the lions came running at them , abruptly ends the fantasy and makes the danger of the situation feel quite real (Bradbury). This creates a tone shift from calm with a sense of amazement to anxious and fearful. Diction also plays a large role in creating a more dramatic tone shift. Bradbury
  • 7. Summary Of The Book Of Judges Women in the book of Judges The Book of Judges talks about ancient Israel, and how they extended their territory by acquiring lands from the non Israelites. The book narrates how Israelites conquered and reclaimed their lost land from non Israelites and how they used to turn from God whenever they are satisfied. But it is written in the Bible that, the guilty are by no means cleared, as Exodus (34:7) says this is the reason why the Lord used several Kings and Judges like Deborahto help the people of Israel find their way back to Him. As the book reveals, it is evident that most of the judges were men (as they were most of the times referred to as Judges). The book talks about a great woman Deborah, also referred to as the bee , as a key judge in the entire book. This book unveils the importance of women (through acts and strengths of Deborah (mainly) and other heroic female characters) and their power to the readers. The Book of Judgesnarrates six women who are and will always be remembered by their outstanding and remarkable work. They are, Achsah, Deborah, Jael, Japhthah s daughter, Delilah and the identity of two of them is not revealed. O Connor (1980) suggests that, The book of Judges demonstrates this disparity as observed; women assume a vital function in its set up as the volume s subject is marginalization (278). Women are well known in three major roles, that is, being a mother, a daughter or a mate. Despite these limited roles, the Book of Judges shows
  • 8. Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 3 Counters We all use counters every day. Whether it be in our watches, or even something like our washing machines, digital counters are found in nearly anything that involves timing (Electronics Hub, 2015). Counters have come a very long way over the years, increasing in both efficiency and complexity. One example of an early counter is the counter developed by Paul Stillman in 1854. This design had a small manual crank which would turn a dial by one digit each time it was cranked. Once the first dial had turned by ten digits, it would then turn the next dial by one digit (in a gradual motion). In 1920, the Veeder Manufacturing Company made a counter that replaced this manual crank, which would only allow for turning the dials one digit at a time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As these flip flops have a positive edge trigger for the clock input, this means every time the clock input goes from LOW to HIGH, it triggers the flip flop, updating the Q output to whatever the D input is, assuming the SET and RESET inputs of the flip flop are both inactive, which they are in this circuit (Digital Electronics, 2014). At the start, the D input will be HIGH, because D is connected to the inverted Q output (PyroElectro, 2013). However, the 555 timer has a HIGH output at the start, but due to the fact the flip flop triggers when the clock input goes from LOW to HIGH, the counter still starts off counting from 0, because it takes one count for the clock to go back to LOW then to HIGH again. As the clock counts, every second count of the previous flip flop will cause the next flip flop to change state. Thinking back to simple binary theory, this makes sense. As a digit in binary is double the previous one, every second time the previous digit changes state, the next digit should change state once. As this is a four bit counter, once the fourth digit changes state from HIGH to LOW, the counter resets, and counts from zero
  • 9. Social And Social Diverty, Poverty And Unhealthy Lifestyles Consumers with lower incomes are more likely to live unhealthily, as low income has become directly correlated with living an unhealthy lifestyle. When shopping for groceries, consumers with relatively low monthly incomes are substantially more likely to eat unhealthily, and are more likely to be obese. This issue of povertyand unhealthy living stems from the idea of social and physical environments. Why is it that people of low socioeconomic status are more likely to smoke, drink excessively and have high fat diets? The issue surrounding the fact that lower income consumers have higher mortality rates can be explained through behavioural studies. The demographic of people who are most affected by unhealthy lifestyles due to lack of wealth is the lower class who can afford their basic needs such as food, shelter and clothing, but can t afford to live within supportive communities and live fulfilling lives. These behaviours are more costly than the healthier method of avoiding these actions altogether. Individuals with low SES are behaving this way not to save money, but to compensate and cope with realities of poverty, such as a lack of healthy relationships. This unhealthy behaviour can partly be attributed to individuals and communities providing low levels of Social Capital(3) . Social capital is defined as the number and type of relationships an individual has(3) , and low SES communities often have low levels of social cohesion. Research has found that
  • 10. Cause And Effect On Inflation INFLATION Nowadays, inflation is a word very often used by society. In many cases, citizens can t really define inflation and when they do so, they define other economic terms that can get confused with inflation. Citizens don t know of the importance of inflation and how it can affect them directly. Inflation is caused by an imbalance of demand and supply, where prices of the goods and services increase at an ongoing pace. The purchasing power will drop, and the money citizens have will be worth less. Inflation can either be good or bad. It is considered that if the inflation rate is between 0% and 2% is positive, otherwise, when is negative or bigger than 2%, the inflation is negative. The most frequent measures of inflation are the CPI (Consumer Prices Index) and RPI (Retail Prices Index). On the one hand, RPI is the percentage price calculated by the Government annually, where they take more than 600 goods and services, and they calculate a mean price of them. After that, they compare it with the previous year. On the other, CPI can be used not only for comparing the difference of inflation year by year, but also for the identification of periods of inflation and deflation and in a more accurate way. The difference between inflation and a rise in the price level, is that inflation, is an ongoing process of an increase in prices of products or services, whereas a rise in products prices is a one time jump in price of the product. However, there is also a term for the
  • 11. Students Hail End Of Banning Cell Phones In Schools Across America students are starting to complete assignments all on their phones instead of the traditional computer or paper. The question is, is it appropriate to use cell phones in school, or not? Schools across America are split between allowing cell phones in school or banning them. Co writer of the article Students Hail End of Cellphone Ban states: Our challenge is to make sure students understand that this is a privilege and not a God given right She said. They use it properly or else ( Brody 2). In the past years, cell phones have become prevalent among nearly every teenager, and they need them to do work. In this day and age it seems almost necessary to have one. Cell phone use in a school setting has emerged as a controversial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the article Is Your Smartphone Hurting Your GPA? , author Nara Schoenberg states: In 2011, researchers at California State University reported that students who received a higher number of text messages during a video recorded lecture scored worse on a quiz than those who received or sent few or no text messages (Schoenberg 2). This argument is inappropriately biased because it didn t specify or include information about using the cell phones for schoolwork. It only displayed why they shouldn t be used in a no use zone. Schools that allow the use of cell phones for work have different effects on students than rules that don t allow the use of them at all. Had the study been carried out between two groups of students, one that was allowed to use their phones for research and one group that couldn t, the opposition may have a more grounded argument. However, one can see that this opinion has a weak argument because of the lack of information displayed. Overall, cellphones should be allowed in school for academic use because teenagers use them daily. It would work to the advantage of both the students and the teachers to incorporate cell phones with school work. Education will only continue to evolve as the years go on, and it is essential that technology is incorporated along with
  • 12. A Rose For Emily Literary Analysis Essay Areej Alzahrani Smell of Time Faulkner s work in the Rose for Emily uses sensational elements to highlight an individual s struggle with time, attachment and an oppressive society. The literately style of A Rose for Emily is that of Southern Gothic (Flora, 2002). According to Morledge, southern gothic literature is defined by an important aspect in which the use of grotesque events in writing is extensively used in most stories. Such events are easily identified in A Rose for Emily . Faulkner is able to take us through time. He has the ability to manipulate time by expanding the story out over several years. Another fascinating element Faulkner used in the short story A Rose for Emily was foreshadowing. He has a talent in building suspense throughout the story by dropping hints everywhere, making the reader predict a different ending every time. Women are continually suffering from society s oppression, and these oppression can affect women s mental status. Of course they only found out about the dead corpse only after her death. Due to the fact that she was a social idol, the townspeople were in denial that she had a mental problem. According to the narrator in one of the important quotes from A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, the townspeople did not say she was crazy at first (Faulkner, pg 238). Miss Emily may have developed a mental illness in response to her idolization. She was looked at as a southern women from an elite family. She had issues letting go of the men that shaped her life, and was abnormally attached to close male figures in her life. It is believed due to her difficulty with coping with the kind of stress she was facing with, she developed a psychological
  • 13. The Largest Private Industry Of India And Second Largest... Retailing is the largest private industry in India and second largest employer after agriculture. This sector contributes to around 10 per cent of GDP and 6 7 per cent of employment. With over 15 million retail outlets, India has the highest retail outlet density in the world. This sector witnessed significant development in the past 10 years from small unorganized family owned retail formats to organized retailing. Liberalization of the economy, rise in per capita income and growing consumerism have encourage larger business houses and manufactures to set up retail formats; real estate companies and venture capitalist are investing in retail infrastructure. Many foreign retailers have also entered the market through different routes such as wholesale cash and carry, local manufacturing, franchising, test marketing, etc. With the growth in organized retailing, unorganized retailers are fast changing their business models and implementing new technologies and modern accounting practices to face competition (Andrews, 2003). Traditionally, Indian retail sector has been characterized by the presence of a large number of small unorganized retailers. With high GDP growth, increased consumerism and liberalization of the manufacturing sector, India is being portrayed as an attractive destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) in retailing. However, at present this is one of the few sectors, which is closed to FDI. Within the country, there has been significant protest from
  • 14. Loss Of Identity In T. S. Eliot s The Hollow Men The Hollow Men by T.S. Eliot could not be any truer with the messages of modern society. Reading Hollow Men, the average person can find almost all of the messages applying to modern day times. Especially in a high school setting. It was obvious that Eliot was far ahead of his time when he nailed society on the head about its imperfections. Three messages that Eliot portrays in The Hollow Menare: the self identity crisis, the loss of faith, and the incredible force of skepticism. In which line does The HollowMen show that humans suffer from loss of identity? Well, in lines 31 and 32 he gives a dark image of how fake people are. Let me also wear such deliberate disguises. (Hollow 31 21) Now, the descriptive word that Eliot used is deliberate. That means people purposely hid their true selves from the outside world. In Worland High, countless students wear these deliberate disguises in fear of the awful judgement that they may receive. However, it is not only students who are cautious.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Form prayers to broken stone. (Hollow 51) People still pray, but it s to nothing. As in nothing meaning, they do not truly believe that praying will work. Many children are raised up in a religion, and think nothing of them. There are followers and then there are religious followers. Religious followers really believe and have faith in their religion, will the others follow blindly, and could care less about their religion. Eliot informs his readers about how the majority is only followers and continue to get worse. In today s modern society, this is very true, Atheists and Agnostic Atheists are very common. Perhaps it is because of the progression in science proving many religious events to not be possible. Then again, is this necessarily a good or a bad thing? Everyone is entitled to their one beliefs, just because someone doesn t believe in God, does not mean they do not have
  • 15. A Family Supper Family Supper Analysis A Family Supper by Kazuo Ishiguro follows a story about a man returning to his home in Japan after World War II to reconcile with his family after his mother s death. The story demonstrates that losing loved ones bring out different sides of people. This is shown by the narrator s father, a cold, stern man who is very proud of his noble samurai blood that begins softening up in old age in effort to reconnect with his familyafter losing them all to different causes. One example of this is the narrator and the father reflecting on their past, with the fathering admitting that [he] should have been a more attentive father (342). With the death of his wife, the father has had to face many new challenges, and by doing
  • 16. Fast Food Industry By Eric Schlosser Estrella Introduction 1. Eric Schlosser chose the topic of fast food industry because he became quite inspired after reading an article about illegal immigrants in a strawberry field and how they a suffered in the process. The article was based on an investigation that was placed on the fields while they worked. It was also based on the immense impact that this industry had on society. Schlosser wanted to as said in his book shed light to the world on how successful hard working industry works. Also the way American industries portray and work in the diligent industry throughout the years . Since the fast food restaurants are known as one of the most active businesses which makes them a perfect example of what he was trying to convey. 2. The Jungle s effect on both Theodore Roosevelt and the meatpacking industry due to the fact that it was concentrated on the lives of immigrants which was very impactful at the time. Many of which were going through unsanitary conditions as well as health violations . It also portrayed the lack of social help in which no one was doing anything to help those workers. Fast Food Nation hasn t impacted as much because of how enormously Fast Food is a part of the world. As said in the book purchasing fast food has been a part of life that is almost 1st nature to Americans and those who expirience fast food daily , Because of this reforming fast food companies would be extremly difficult to do. 3. Even though it was merely bankruptcy in 1991, it could stand up and become very successful by 1999. An issues was what led Ryanair to huge losses in 1991, how did it re gain its position, and what lay ahead in the next century. Analysis Prior to 1991, Ryanair had suffered from continuous losses from 1985 to 1989. The first reason that put it into this situation was that it tried to position itself as a low fare airline with the first rate services. It tried to keep low and unrestricted fare, while keep focusing on the best customer service and relationship. This mixed model was proven inefficiency. The low price could lure number of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Main reason were that it abolished the mixed model, applied low cost strategy, improved its operation, reposition itself, and increase number of ancillary services. A key issue that waited for Ryanair at the end of 1999 was how to move and what to do to maintain or increase its market share. From the analysis, Ryanair should maintain its current position. However, it is strongly recommended to provide the check through baggage for connecting flights for other airlines. This could increase number of passengers who have to transit via a route that Ryanair provided. Moreover, it should increase ancillary services by offering referral program to car rentals, hotels, and travel agencies. By doing this, it could generate more revenue to provide more services in other parts. For the in flight service, it is suggested that Ryanair should offer rental in flight entertainments or internet services. As for a promotion, in the best case, it could offer a free flight or IВЈ1 flight with limited seats to attract customers who never fly before or those who love travelling. In a worse case that an intense competition among employees occurs, the company should reset its pays distribution and incentives before (or along with) follow the above recommendations. Alcohol is often associated with football games, baseball and even social gatherings. Unfortunately, alcohol can also be a coping mechanism for those who are dealing with a loss of a family member, financial crisis or even homelessness. The cost of alcohol addiction and treatment in the State of Wisconsin is approximately $6.8 billion and rising due to the continued abuse of alcohol (Wisconsin Department of Health Services, 2014, p. 14). With the high usage of alcohol abuse, one must turn to programs within their local community for support and treatment. In the community in which I live one would have to say that it is rural. John Greenleaf Whittier was not shy about his belief that slavery should be abolished from the whole country. With the United States on the brink of a civil war, Whittier published his poems and gave slaves a new voice. It s because of his strong belief in abolishment that I can relate to Whittier s writings. Although I was not alive in the nineteenth century, nor was anyone I know that is alive today, slaveryis still a relevant topic to me. With millions of people stuck in the ring of human trafficking and children being forced to work on farms and factories across the globe, slavery is still very alive today. I strongly believe in the idea of abolishing all types of slavery and although Whittier was more focused on African American slaves of the South, his quotes still apply to the situations we see today. For instance, Whittier writes, Until IMMORTAL MIND Unshackled walks abroad, And chains no longer bind The image of our God. That is something that I agree with a hundred percent, slavery was based on irrational ideas, which will forever give the United States a bad

Many feminists try to fight against this thinking, as women have always been judged for their looks. Jenny Saville takes an interesting position on the subject, her paintings of nude women being exaggerated. The women tended to be very obese, in contrast with the lithe, skinny models in the media. The companies that determine credit score are Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. The components I discovered that make up your personal credit score are: Payment History, Lines of New Credit, How much you owe, and finally length of credit historywith other factors as well rounding out the table. Payment history makes up the largest percentage at Thirty Five percent. They use your past behavior in determining what you will do in the future. This is considered the most important factor in calculating credit scores because if they do not have data to show how you have performed in the past that might be misleading and could lead to someone with terrible credit in the past to open many new credit cards. They take into account the two types of loans, revolving and installment. Revolving loans are the types that always fluctuate, like opening new charge card accounts. Installments are paid back in portions like if you have payments to make on a car lease or mortgaging a home. If you default on a loan it is not always going to result in identical damage to your credit score. The amount of damage to defaulting is determined by the size of the installment. If you are working on boosting your credit to a higher rating, you should always pay on or by the due date. The second biggest component to a credit score is the debt amounts. Hector St. John de Crevecoeur comments on the principles of American social organization and the new consciousness that was arising in Letters from an American Farmer. Crevecoeur incorporated not only his own personal feelings and thoughts into this work, but also integrated depictions of ordinary American life using the important philosophical, political, and economic theories of the Enlightenment (850). The images of a picturesque American farmer whose life is seemingly perfect and filled with abundant happiness in his new worldis the foundation, but this vision is abruptly transformed into complete despondency when perfection is contaminated with... Even though he attempts to rationalize his situation, it is evident of a foreshadowing to future complication with regard to loyalty when the ideal life proves not to be as flawless as believed. As James illustrates, It is not composed, as in Europe, of great lords who possess everything and of a herd of people who have nothing. Here are no aristocratical families, no courts, no kings, no bishops, no ecclesiastical dominion, no invisible power giving to a few a very visible one, no great manufacturers employing thousands, no great refinements of luxury. The rich and the poor are not so far removed from each other as they are in Europe (854). The image depicted portrays a lifestyle free from any ruling body, either government or religion, and the removal of class systems. It is definitively clear that he is attempting to persuade the people residing in Europe to come to America, experience freedom and realize that there is a better place then where they were prior. Nevertheless, he fails to reject the opposite side to the situation: what happens when industrial growth begins to take root? There will once again be great manufacturers who employ the masses and the rich and the poor will eventually be removed from one another just as they are in

Solving The Solvency Issue Of The Highway Trust Fund Solving the Solvency Issue of the Highway Trust Fund You might have heard recently that the United States Trust Fund is currently experiencing a solvency issue due to an increased cost associated with financing road projects. The members of the United States Congress, as well as numerous other influential leaders, have been discussing means of addressing this broken Highway Trust Fund. This issue has been consistently thrown on the back burner for some time and due to this procrastination an issue that would have been an easy fix a few years ago has now ballooned into a much larger issue. Lately it seems like every time I turn on the news I have seen news reports of bridges collapsing and pot holes getting worse, it scary to think that I will one day have children driving on these roads if our Government can t find a solution. As you can see this is an imminent issue that has vast implications our economy, safety and sanity (i.e., traffic) and it is for that reason that we as Americans need to speak up in regards to what should be done to address this issue. There have been multiple proposed solutions, however, due to the underlying issues with each of these solutions Congress has sat on their hands and there has yet to be a fix to address the ailing Highway Trust Fund, in this article I will briefly describe a few of the solutions that have been proposed and discuss what I believe to be a better approach to dealing with this ever present issue. To identify a viable

Compare And Contrast Hardin And Ostrom The Tragedy of the Commons by Garrett Hardin and A General Framework for Analyzing Sustainability of Social Ecological Systems by Elinor Ostrom both offer perspectives on the way humans interact with common pool resources, as well as the property regimes that govern them. A Common Pool Resource (CPR) is defined by Dietz as a valued natural resource that is available to more than one person and subject to degradation as a result of overuse. (Hagerman, 2014 a). Hardin offers a perspective on CPRs through analogies to commons , areas of open access where there is an absence of well defined property rights [and] access is unregulated and open to anyone. (Hagerman, 2014a) He explains a scenario where multiple herders own cattle, which all graze on one common plot of land. The herders weigh the benefits and costs of adding one more cow, and going beyond the carrying capacity of the commons. If one herder adds a cow, the cost is subtracted evenly from the well being of the all herders. The benefits, however, are realised uniquely by the herder who added the cow. ... • 40. The Libertarian Argument Analysis In the United States institutionalized prohibition based cannabis policies defy widely accepted societal values, delegitimizing the state s authority of law, neglecting its responsibility to respect individual free will and ultimately, the right of self determination. These unjustified policies take a heavy financial and social toll on society, forcing law enforcement to spend time and money to arrest a majority of non violent, low level offenders. In addition, marijuana policies and enforcement have been seen as inherently biased and discriminatory. Not only that, but the medical applications of cannabisare increasingly becoming recognized and accepted as a standard in terms of treating diseases and relieving physical or mental ailments. Furthermore, statistics have shown that legalization leads to a decreased use of marijuana among teens and minors. Dollar wise, cannabis... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Political activist and Libertarian representative J. Wilson comments on this saying We believe that people own their own bodies and what they choose to put in them. That also means people own the products of their labor (The Libertarian Argument for Legalizing Marijuana 2015). Accordingly, this accounts for why the state should have no say to arbitrarily decide what people can and can t consume. Prohibition must be measured against the deprivation of personal freedom. Likewise, the United States has an obligation to the people to respect the right of self determination and individual free will. In this case, self ownership prevails over government regulation in regards to prohibition based cannabis policies. Hence, reform is necessary so the fundamental of self ownership isn t denied to individuals. The principles of human freedom should be respected by the federal

  • 43. Prehensile Tail Research Paper Prehensile Tails Creatures have a variety of traits that make them unique. This can include traits such as having scales as opposed to fur or having claws or opposable thumbs. As traits are passed down from generation to generation, individuals of the species that have traits that help them survive and thrive in their current environment tend to reproduce more. This leads to a higher frequency of the population having this desireable trait. When a creature has a trait that allows them to survive and thrive in their environment, this trait is called an adaptation. (OpenStax, 2013) One example of an adaptation that helps creatures thrive in their environment is the prehensile tail. Through natural selection these prehensile tailed mammals were able to reproduce and the adaptation was passed on to their offspring. (Mirajkar, 1970) Regarding adaptations, there are two main types; homologous adaptations and analogous adaptations. In a homologous adaptation, creatures with the adaptation are all thought to come from a common ancestor. In an analogous adaptation, the adaptation develops separately because of a common necessity, but a common ancestor is not present. Prehensile tails would be considered analogous. While many monkeys have a common ancestor, prehensile tails have also been seen in reptiles and fish. The structure of each different type of tail is radically different. Some lizards have detachable prehensile tails, while the prehensile tail of most monkeys is an extension of vertebrae from their spinal cord. This suggests that they do not share a common ancestor. (Homologies and Analogies, n.d.) Another way to classify adaptations is into convergent and divergent evolutions. In a divergent evolution, a common ancestor eventually gives way to several different adaptations. Adaptations that come from a common ancestor are called

These concerns have led to the utilization of procedures following an accident; evacuation from the area of the incident to prevent contamination, taking shelter in ventilation closed areas to avoid radiation, disposal of contaminated products as well as use of proper medical procedures.(3) B. By 1995, however, the number had drastically diminished to 69,000, (National Health Policy Forum, 2000). This drastic reduction was largely due to the discovery of antipsychotic medications in the 1950s, and the deinstitutionalization movement of the 1960s, wherein several thousands of mentally ill individuals were released from psychiatric institutions to return to their communities for treatment. Mental health centers (MHCs) were conceptualized during deinstitutionalization to provide treatment to these newly released mentally ill persons in their communities. The Olmstead Act requires public agencies to provide services in the most integrated setting appropriate to the needs of qualified individuals with disabilities. Further, the act mandates that states place qualified individuals with mental illnesses in community settings, rather than in institutions. Being placed under IOC is contingent upon whether or not such placement is appropriate, affected persons do not oppose such placement, and the state can reasonably accommodate the placement, taking into account resources available to the state and needs of others with disabilities, (The Center for an Accessible Society, 1999). In conclusion, the Olmstead Act provided for the legal groundwork to both provide and enforce IOC. Research has shown IOC to be more effective when combined with additional components. Examples of these components include psychiatric advance directives, Assertive Case Management (ACM), representative payees, conditional release, conservatorship /guardianship, and mental health courts. Psychiatric advance directives are legal documents that permit mentally ill individuals to authorize and specify treatment in anticipation of future periods of mental incapacity. ACM consists of mental health teams that actively assist with treatment in the home. Representative payees are trusted persons designated by a mentally ill individual that help that individual use funds wisely by being the payee of benefits. Conditional
