Perfect Family Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of a "Perfect Family" can be a challenging endeavor, primarily
because the concept of a perfect family is subjective and varies greatly from person to person.
The difficulty arises from the diverse perspectives people hold regarding what constitutes an
ideal family. Some may view it as a harmonious unit with strong bonds, while others may
emphasize the importance of individual autonomy within the family structure.
Attempting to define a perfect family requires delving into societal expectations, cultural
influences, and personal beliefs. Each individual may have a unique vision shaped by their
upbringing, experiences, and values. As a writer, navigating through these varied perspectives
and presenting a cohesive argument can be demanding.
Moreover, societal norms and expectations of a perfect family often change over time. The
dynamic nature of family structures, evolving social norms, and the impact of external factors
make it challenging to create a universally accepted definition. Balancing traditional ideals with
modern realities adds an additional layer of complexity to the essay.
To successfully tackle this topic, one must conduct thorough research, gather diverse opinions,
and critically analyze the multifaceted aspects of family life. Crafting an essay that not only
acknowledges the diversity of perspectives but also presents a well-reasoned argument requires
careful consideration and thoughtful articulation.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of a "Perfect Family" demands a nuanced approach
that accounts for the subjectivity and evolving nature of the concept. It involves navigating
through diverse perspectives, cultural nuances, and societal changes. Nevertheless, the challenge
lies in presenting a cohesive and well-supported argument that resonates with readers regardless
of their individual beliefs.

Intellectual Disabilities In The 20th Century
Regarding the misunderstood communication of people with disabilities, many of
their rights were taken away. With this in mind, many people suffered and even died
from the asylums that were suppose to help them function in the real world.
Treatment for people having intellectual disabilities happened in as early as the years
of the beginning of the 20th century, 1901. People having disabilities in the early
20th century was important because humans were mistreated and segregated into
different groups, also known as fortunate and unfortunate. Three facts about

Military Vs. Military Robotics
Are we truly enlightened in the advancement of what technology has given for all the
branches in the army? From science fiction movies such as The Terminator and I,
Robot, robotics has come pretty far in the military industry from building prosthetic
arms for the injured veterans to unmanned aircraft that can do surveillance without
getting caught under the radar of enemy territory. Militaryrobotics have stretched
beyond the previous potential of what it originally supposes to accomplish; the
military even has robotics where little drones that are controlled by a remote can
camouflage in any terrain. Even though critics and politicians claim military
robotics cause more destruction and can be hacked into their databases by a single
binary code, the military needs to continue implementing more robotic soldiers,
drones, vehicles and aircraft because they are such an asset in reducing casualties,
superior abilities to humans that cannot be done manually by soldiers easily, and
being work efficient as well as cost efficient. Without these robotics from the
military, the heroes of our nation have a lower chance of making it back home to
their families knowing they may not live to see them unless they have serious
assistance from technology. The history of military robotics dates back to World War
II and the Cold War. During those times of spying, weaponry and strategic attacks,
these robots were in the form of Germany s type of robotics and Russian weaponry
called teletanks .
Magna Carta Research Paper

The Magna Carta
The Magna Carta is one of the most important documents from the Middle Ages. It
was a charter of liberties that, King John of England, agreed to. It would initially
put him, future kings, and the rest of England under a unified rule of law. It can be
generally described as a peace treaty. It was written by King John s barons who
were the lowest level of British nobility. All of it was originally written in Latin, so
its name translates to The Great Charter .
Those involved with The Magna Carta were powerful men of the time. The charter
itself was made because of King John, who was just a terrible king that abused his
great power. He lied, was greedy, and didn t really care about anyone but himself.

During the Middle Ages, it was very successful in creating rules to live by which
the whole kingdom followed. Things were fair, and the King still had to obey the
laws which everyone else did. The Magna Carta consists of a preamble and 63
short clauses. The document also guaranteed the rights of the people, the right to
justice and the right to a fair trial. The U.S. Constitution Bill of Rights, still used
now, have some obvious influences from the Magna Carta. For example, the Fifth
Amendment states, Nor shall any persons be deprived of life, liberty or property
without due process of law . This is basically Clause 39. It created a basis for
ruling which were finally fair for everyone. The kings couldn t abuse their power
for their own personal gain, they were subjects to the rules of justice that everyone
else was. Though only 3 of the clauses are still used in present times, The Magna

Literature suggests that the Wandagee Formation conformably overlies the
Quinnanie Shale (Mory Backhouse, 1997). These two sections were most likely
deposited within a marine shelf, perhaps below the storm water wave base (notebook
page 33). The Quinnanie, displaying no trace fossils or bioturbation and generally
massive in structure may suggest that it was deposited at greater depths than the
Wandagee Formation or it may suggest a cycle of shallowing and deepening waters,
due to tidal influences. The Quinnanie representing deepened waters. Its more organic
make up may also indicate that it was deposited at greater depths than the Wandagee.
The Wandagee Formation contains a vast number of structures that indicate a
shallower environment than the Quinnanie. Whilst still being deposited below the
storm water wave base, it may be possible that it was deposited during a shallowing
oscillation. Trace fossils that were burrowing indicate shallower waters, the
stratigraphic log demonstrates these relationships, figure 22).
5.7 Petroleum Potential
Quinnanie Shale is suggested to be a source rock, it has fair levels of organics, but
has low generating potential, and is most likely more gas prone. The Byro Group
itself contains some source rocks. However, it is suggested that this system is
immature (Ghori, 1998)

Scottsboro Boys Tom Robinson Case
One of the most important cases in the history of the judicial system is little
known in the modern world. The case of the Scottsboro Boys made headlines in
early 1931 when nine African American men were charged with the gang rape of
two white females on a freight train from Chattanooga to Memphis. Since the time
of the trial, it has become widely accepted that the allegation was false and that no
rape actually occurred. However, the case represents an issue greater than itself,
one that is explored similarly in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
through the case of Tom Robinson. The issue of large scale racism and
discrimination has been a problem plaguing American culture for a very long time,
finally becoming an issue of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Victoria Price, one of the two who had allegedly been raped by the two. Price was
in fact a prostitute, and Leibowitz used this information to propose that Price and
Ruby Bates (the other victim of the alleged rape) were simply using the rape
allegation to cover up their own crime: a Mann Act Violation, insinuating that they
were crossing state lines for immoral purposes. The trial continued in roughly the
same way, with Leibowitz managing to make the case seem as one sided as
possible with each consecutive witness disproving Price s testimony at every
available moment. This string of witnesses led up to the climactic entrance of Ruby
Bates, who had been missing for several months before the trial. Just as the defense
closed its case, she burst in through the door of the courtroom and delivered a
testimony that completely disproved everything previously said by Victoria Price.
When questioned about the legitimacy of her testimony upon cross examination
Bates said, I told it like Victoria Price told it. How she told me to tell it. Thus the
trial came to a conclusion, with Samuel Leibowitz feeling very confident about the
way the trial was going to turn out. However, a mere five minutes later, the jury

Non Lethal Weapons Essay
The Current Use of Non Lethal Weapons (Specifically the TASER) By Law
Enforcement Agencies
Introduction
For years, law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have adopted the employment of less
lethal weapons to facilitate the safe arrest of non compliant suspects whose actions do
not justify the use of deadly force. LEAs embraced the new technologies that
minimized harm to the officer, the suspect, and the public. However, controversy has
surrounded these new devices in the war on crime. With recent news reports on the
implementation of less lethal equipment causing injuries and deaths in communities
scattered throughout the United States, the public has been questioning whether
these weapons are safe and effective to use on suspects resisting arrests. ... Show more

By the late 1800s, LEAs began distributing firearms to their officers in response to
better armed criminals Starting at the beginning of the 20th century, the Chicago
Police Department, armed their patrolmen with a hickory stick, a whistle, and a
key to the call box to report a crime or to receive additional assistance from their
police precinct. The 1960s saw a major advance in police less lethal weaponry, with
the use of CS gas or tear gas as it was commonly called. CS gas was frequently used
in riots against unruly crowds. It must be remembered that the sixties were turbulent
times where rioting became quite common during the Vietnam conflict and the Civil
Rights Movement. In addition, the 1960s lead to serious discussions on less lethal
replacements for handguns. The President s Commission on Law Enforcement and
the Administration of Justice (PCLEAJ) wanted a less lethal weapon which was just
as capable in incapacitating a suspect as a handgun with little risk of permanent
injury to the person who was the target. As with other less lethal weapons, the police
dog was later employed as part of the less lethal weaponry. LEAs found that when
these dogs are properly trained, they could be used to subdue a suspect (Bulman,
Lightbulb Lab
Incandescent light bulbs use a wire filament heated to a high temperature in order to
give off light. The filament has an electrical current sent through it, and is protected
from oxidation by a glass bulb or a quartz bulb. On average, the incandescent bulb
uses 60 watts and costs 11 cents per kilowatt hour. On average, one bulb costs $1.
90% of what an incandescent light bulbproduces is heat, which wastes a lot of
electricity. Also, the lights produce sustainable levels of CO2. They have an average

CFL lightbulbs function by putting electricity through a tube containing argon, which

The Theme Of Lies And Truths In The Drawer Boy
After reading the novel The Drawer Boy by Michael Healey the universal theme
that I believe is portrayed is lies, and truths. These themes are developed by
confusion regarding the truth, confronting the truth, and the consequences that
lying can have. The books theme is something that readers can relate towards in
their own everyday lives, making it a universal theme. The play begins with the
introduction of the characters Angus, Morgan, and Miles. Angus and Morgan are
two best friends who own a farm in Ontario, and Miles is an actor who is in a play
about farming. As the story continues the reader gets a deeper look into the life of
the farmers and sees that they haven t lived an easy life. One day Miles arrives at
the farm looking to learn more about farm life for a play that he is starring in. He
ends up being invited to stay at the farm to help out so that he can see what
working on a farm is all about. One of the first farm chores that Miles does is
driving a tractor. However, he told Morgan that he had driven a tractor before
when he hadn t and ended up backing up over Morgan. This is one event in the
story where the universal theme of lies is displayed. When Miles lied about knowing
how to drive the tractor, the consequence was backing over Morgan. Although his
injuries were not very severe Miles lie could ve resulted in a much worse outcome.
Another example of the universal theme in the novel is when Morgan lies to Angus
about what happened many years ago during

complicated by its variable pharmacokinetic profile, narrow therapeutic index, and
numerous food and drug interactions. These limitations have led to the development

Women And The Role Of Women In The 1920 s
Women of The 1920s
During the first World War I women were left at home to try and figure out how
they were going to care for their families. Their husband, father, and brothers were
sent off to war. Many companies around the United States were left with
production needs and little to no employees to do the job. In a time period, where
women are expected to be confident and independent, they had to also realize they
had little to no power in society. They had societal rules that they must stay at home
to cook, clean, and care for the children. With the men who were prominent in their
lives coming and going from war. These factors caused the birth of a new era. This is
the era where women were emerging. Women were changing by being more
independent sexually and expressing their emotions through music, poetry, and
movies.
One important theme of the women of the 1920 s that connects various aspects of the
women is their sexuality. The women before those who became empowered in the
1920 s would never open up about their sexuality. The women prior to the 1920 s
had an image of modesty and were viewed to be married to only one man. In 1920,
the women began to express their sexual desires freely. Singers like Bessie Smith
could paint a picture and bring anything to life with just her voice. One example by

she loves her man and how happy he makes her. In her lyrics she says Do it easy

When Lightning Strikes An Unprotected Home
Many people regard the chances of their home getting struck by lightning as highly
unlikely. This may be true, but it depends on your circumstances. If your house is on
a hill, in an open area, or has tall trees next to it, then a lightning strike is a greater
possibility. Another risk factor is geographic location, and it doesn t help that our
beautiful state of Florida has the highest incidence of lightning activity in the United
States. We also rank as the fourth most lightning prone area on earth. When lightning
strikes an unprotected home, it may cause a fire or even make the wood structure
explode when the lightning bolt instantly vaporizes moisture in the wood. While the
probability of your home getting hit by lightning is low, the consequences can be
high such as structural damage or a house fire. Another risk is damage to expensive
electronic items in your home such as computers, home entertainment systems, and
security systems. The value of these items can range from thousands to hundreds of

Similarities Between Henry III And Absolutism
When kings violated the moral order, they were subject to canon law like other
members of the Church, and could be excommunicated. The pope punished Philip
Augustus in this way for the sin of adultery. Boleslaus of Poland and Henry II of
England were disciplined for the murders of St. Stanislaus and St. Thomas A. Becket.
The popecould release a ruler s subjects from their oath of allegiance, and could
even dispose the king. Pope Gregory VII did this in the case of Henry IV in 1080.
Innocent IV did it against Frederick II in 1245. The Council of Lyons in 1274 laid
down definite rules about the role of Cardinals in papal elections. On the tenth day
after the pope s death they were to assemble and remain absolutely locked away
from the rest of the world in conclave . Cardinal s meetings with the pope were

Under the leadership of many outstanding professors, it soon became the greatest

The Kidnapping Of Patricia Hearst
When actually participating in an event it, you are unable to make a clear unbiased
analysis of the situation. However when there is an outsider in the event can be
analyzed from several different viewpoints and in psychological terms. One
historical event that people still question what really occurred is the kidnapping of
Patricia Hearst. Patricia Patty Campbell Hearst, a Berkeley undergraduate student,
on February 4, 1974 at nineteen years of age was kidnapped by a group of men and
women after leaving her beaten fiancГ© behind (Winter, 2005). This group of men
and women formed the Symbionese Liberation Army(SLA), a radical group of
domestic terrorists, led by Donald DeFreeze, with the mission to destroy the capitalist
state (Hixson, 2005). The group was formed in Berkley, California with their main
priorities being to end racism, monogamy, the prison system, and all other institutions
that have made and sustained capitalism. (Winter, 2005).
The reason for the kidnapping was for the simple reason that Patricia Hearst was
part of a wealthy, powerful family that would ensure the group attention from the
press, which is exactly what occurred. Hearst s kidnapping made headlines across
the country. Local police and FBI searched for her, two days after the kidnapping
on February 6, 1974 a letter was left at a radio station signed by the SLA. It was a
warrant for the arrest of Patricia Campbell Hearst along with her credit card and a
warning that anyone who interferes

can identify with. The fact that his child puts him at risk of being criticized by the
rest of his community makes him want to abandon both his wife and his child,
eventually putting across his disproval of a person of African American ancestry
being provided with the same privileges as a white individual. The white man s is
the only real position of power here, even as the apotheosis of white womanhood,
Desiree, as her name implies, has only a tenuous power, one that is dependent on her
being desired and, I would add, on an always instable myth of purity of blood.

Universities Are Better Than Medieval Universities
Medieval universities were mostly located in Italy, France,Spain,Portugal and
England during the late 11th to 13th. Comparing Medieval universities to nowadays
colleges and universities, there are a lot of difference. To know the difference, we
have to trace back to the time period and to know the history background which is
the Middle age . After the collapse of the western Roman Empire, the population of
Europeincreased as technological. The middle age itself can be divided into three
main parts which are Early, the High, and the Late Middle Ages. The rising of the
population makes education becomes more popular. People at that time started to
aquire knowledge. A group of people gather together and learn is called university.

Although most of those were liturgy and prayer, some of those were boast true
intellectuals. Monasteries were one kind of learning place during that time period.
Compare to nowadays universities, initally medieval universities did not have
physical facilities such as main campus. The classes were mostly been taught at
place that avaliable. Some of them even learned at home or churches. A university
was not just a physical space but a collection of individuals gathered together as a
universitas. Nowadays universities all have their own buildings and campus. Some
of them even have yards, playing ground and many other facilities. We can say that
the medieval universities are more simple but nowaday universities are more
complicated . However, medieval universities are slowly began to rent or construct
buildings for the purpose of teaching. There were three main types which depends on
who was paying the teachers. In Bologna, students hired and paid for the teachers. In
the other hand, in Paris, churches were responsible to pay for the teachers.
monasteries were very common in England and some of those were really focus on

They went further to state that There was a considerable interchange of tools and
techniques between lean manufacturing and Six Sigma (McAdam and Donagan,
2003). Implementation challenges were highlighted in this study and were similar to
those previously discussed. The researchers simple stated that this study has found no
recipe for success (McAdam and Donagan, 2003). McAdam and Donagan (2003)
significant finding from this study was that three business improvement
methodologies of different philosophical origins could all be systematically
combined to contribute to organizational goals. They support this finding by
explaining that there was a distinct lack of evidence, at any level, of complaints of
unnecessary overlap and contradictory goals (McAdam and Donagan, 2003). They
recommend further research is this area because the integration and aggregation of
these approaches and their effects would appear to have the potential to produce a
coherent approach to business improvement strategy (McAdam and Donagan,
Recession Turmoil Caused By U.s. Subprime Mortgage
Crisis
Wall Street turmoil caused by U.S. Subprime Mortgage Crisis had eventually
evolved to global financial crisis. The financial crisis that has engulfed the world is
really a disaster, leading to precipitous shrinkage of human wealth and instantaneous
evaporation of long time efforts by financial institutions. But why did such financial
crisis take place? Who should be blamed?
As far as I concern, Federal Reserve deserves the greatest blame, as its ultra loose
monetary policy created housing bubble, sowing the seeds of crisis. And its
subsequent tighten policy pricked that kind of bubble, precipitatingsubprime
mortgage crisis. Together with the former Fed chairman Alan Greenspanindulged
rampant financial derivatives, which made the economy worse off.
From 2001, Federal Reserve began to cut interest rates, and after cutting for 13
times, by june.2003, it reduced target rate to 1% which hit the lowest level in the
past 46 years. Due to such loose monetary policy, lending rates declined at the same
time, 30 year fixed mortgage rates dropped from 8.1%in 2000 to 5.8% in 2003. In
this case, Americans house purchasing enthusiasm rose dramatically. And
speculating on real estate appeared. However bubble would burst eventually. From
june.2005, Federal Reserve began to reserve its low interest rate policy, and raised
its interest rates for 13 times, so by august.2006, Fed target rate was increased from
1% to 5.25%. The interest rates were put up continuously, which increased borrowing
The Influences Of Rome On The Byzantine Empire Essay
Gabrielle Rechler
Final Art History Paper The Influences of Rome on the Byzantine Empire
The legal, cultural, and structural developments during the Roman Empire (753 BCE
476 CE) have had an effect on Western civilization. Influenced by the ideals of the
ancient Greeks, the empire lived through many worldwide transformations that
changed the way in which emperors governed and ruled the Roman people, and these
adaptations can be seen in the style of artwork in each Roman reign. One of the most
notable changes in art style is in the Late Empire Period, during the third and fourth
centuries, where the change in government, from imperial rule to the tetrarchy, led
artists to focus on the message of the piece rather than the individual represented, and
become more abstract and geometric rather than classical and
individualistic.[footnoteRef:1] Another notable period of change was under
Constantine I, who overthrew the tetrarchy, and was the first Roman emperor to
embrace Christianity. [1: Marilyn Stokstad and Michael W. Cothren, Art History. 4th
ed., Vol 1 (London: Laurence King Publishing, 2011), 207.]
During his reign, art combined the geometric style from the tetrarchy with a touch of
the previous verism, demonstrating Constantine?s independent power. However, after
his rule, the Roman Empire once again divided into two rulers: one for the eastern
parts, and one for the western parts. In the east, the Byzantine Empire developed
under the Theodosian Dynasty
John L. O Sullivan s Analysis
During the mid 1800s, America was still expanding its country. In 1845, John L. O
Sullivan who was a New York newspaper editor and as well as a Democratic party
propagandist has given the name Manifest Destiny to the nation s expansion. The
concept of Manifest Destiny was the idea that the unites states had a God given
mission to extend its land from Atlantic to the pacific and beyond. Therefore O
Sullivan advocated foreign policy such as annexation of the Republic of Texasand of
the Oregon territory. In mid summer of 1845, he wrote a column called annexation in
the issue of Democratic Review were he argued that the United Statesshould admit
the Republic of Texas into the Union. He also explains during the time that Texas was

Huckleberry Finn Cultural Analysis
To continue, culture is an imperative element to both novels because it gives
readers an important background of the literary periods that each book was written
in. It also allows readers to have a better comprehension of the severity of what it
meant to help a black man or a wanted outlaw during that era. Since Huck Finn was
set in a southern culture, they re is a very distinct separation between the whites
and the blacks. Nonetheless, since Huck grew up more isolated from society, it
allows him to not have already formed prejudgements of Jim. Also, it allows him to
see past Jim s skin colour and to look at him as a human being, It was fifteen
minutes before I could work myself up to go and humble myself to a nigger; but I

Growing up, Huck never experienced what it meant to have a good father figure,
however as time passes in their journey down the river, readers can see how Jim
embraces the role of fatherhood and acts like the loving father that Huck was

he is authentically worried for young Huck; but when Huck finds Jim, readers are
able to see the depth of Jim s love for Huck due to the fact that Jim praises the lord
upon Huck s return and speaks to him as if he was his own flesh and blood. Also,
after Jim realises that Huck is attempting to play a trick on him by telling him he
never left, Jim yet again falls into the fatherly role and appeals to Huck s conscious,
as well as scolds him for causing embarrassment and concern to his friend as well as
encourages Huck to become more sympathetic and courteous young man. This
demonstrates Huck and Jim s total disregards for
Writing A Writing An Essay
Writing an essay has always been a difficult and tedious task in my opinion. The
writing process I followed when creating the original assignment consisted of
research, a rough draft, a small amount of editing, and a final draft. Researching
the topic was the first step I took in writing my paper. I searched for credible and
useful information that would have a positive effect on my essay. After gathering
my information, I worked to create an outline that would assist in the organization
and structure of my essay. I then used my outline to begin a rough draft by
inserting research, as well as my own thoughts and ideas. After editing and revising
my essay, I ended with a final draft. The editing done to the paper was basic and done
solely by myself. I did not use any resources such as the writingcenter. Along with
this, peer reviews were not helpful as my group did not strive to make any
meaningful corrections or provide any constructive criticism. Because I had little
corrections the amount of editing or revising done was limited. Throughout the
duration of this class, the process in which I write an essay has changed.
Overall, the revision process for the new and improved essay was a great deal
different than the first essay. To decide what information I wanted left alone and what
information I should take out, I went through my original assignment and read the
comments made by my instructor. The comments helped me indicate which pieces of
the essay were well written

Richard Wright s Native Son, Race Is The Main Source Of...
Behaviors Created by Racism in Native Son In Richard Wright s Native Son, race
is the main source of problems for Bigger Thomas. Bigger is an African American
man who is distrustful of whites and regularly acts out in violence. The novel is set
in the 1940 s when racism was considered a social norm. African Americans could
live out their dreams or choose for themselves and this makes many of them angry.
Whites expected them to commit crimes and were quick to accuse them of anything.
So, due to poor treatment, perhaps the whites unknowingly conditioned the African
Americans to act in the stereotypical way they viewed them. Had racismnot been
present these assumptions and crimes most likely would not have been committed.
Many scholars have studied the effects of racism on its victim and found that it
can cause a person to act in a way they may not have in a different situation. Racism
can make a person feel small, unheard, and trapped. In the novel, the reader know
that Bigger felt all of these things and that is probably why he did all the things he
did. His hatred towards whites caused him to act violently, ultimately killing a
young white woman. There were a few people in the novel, such as Mr. and Mrs.
Dalton, Mary, and Jan, who were claiming to help African Americans try to
overcome the issues they faced. Even though they claimed they were trying to help,
overall they were part of the problem and in no way fixing it. If Richard Wright s

The Hound Of The Baskervilles By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Essay
Most often, people have an image in their mind when they think of detectives,
whether the image is a man in a trench coat holding a magnifying glass, a beloved
childhood character like Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys, or the classic Victorian
detective. While all of these may hold true, one specific person comes to mind at the
mention of a detective, Mr. Sherlock Holmes. Along with images of detectives come
preconceived ideas of what a detective or mystery novel should be or what it should
contain. Within the genre, numerous authors have stood out among the others and set
their own standard for these works of literature. In The Hound of the Baskervillesby
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Doyle employs juxtaposed settings, descriptive imagery, and
the symbolism that each convey to establish an immense attention to detail which
maximizes the effectiveness of his writing in the genre of detection in this classic
Sherlock Holmes story.
Throughout the novel, Doyle sets up an immense contrast between the settings of the
story which acts as a guide to clearly distinguish between the locations and give
insight into their symbolism. In The Hound of the Baskervilles there are two distinct
locations in which the story takes place, London and Dartmoor. London is where the
story begins, where Sherlock and Watson are first introduced to the case, and where
things first start to seem peculiar. Though these first events that set up the mystery of
the novel take place in London, London is a symbol of
Sprained Wrist Injury
sprained wrist is a common injury in all kinds of people, active and non active. A
sprain occurs when an extreme twist, bend or impact forces the wrist out of its usual
angles of rotation into a position beyond its normal range of motion, tearing the
ligaments. There are three didn t grades of sprains that can occur in the wrist just
like the hamstring sprain meaning it is important to see a psychotherapist as soon as
possible so that they are able to assess the problem and devise a rehabilitation
programme to fit the nature of the injury.
1 7 days post injury acute stage
Such as with any sprain injury or acute injury, applying the PRICE principles of
protection is an important first step to help with the recovery of the sprain.
This acronym stands for Protection. By protecting the damaged wrist is stops it from
becoming prone to further injury. Rest. Resting the wrist is important so that there
isn t added pressure put onto the ligament which could set the recovery stage back
further as it could cause chronic damage. Ice. Applying ice to the damaged area will
help to reduce the pain and reduce the swelling that may occur due to the injury. A
way to apply the ice effectively is to do it for 10 minutes then remove it for 10
minutes and apply it again for 10 minutes, repeating this every 1 2 hours for a 48 72
hour period. Compression. Compressing the injured area will help to minimize the
swelling. Although some of the swelling is unavoidable, too much swelling may
cause loss of function, more pain and worse blood ... Show more content on

ligaments have time to
Political Socialization Examples
Political socialization is defined as a lifelong process by which people form their
ideas about politics and acquire political values from their family, educational
system, peer groups, and the mass media. A random Waldoboro citizen has their
own political socialization, as they grow up they hear the political views of their
parents. Once they attend schools they begin to learn about the political scale and
begin to form their own opinions. They begin to make friends and hear their political
views based on their educationand families. Finally, mass media begins to discuss the
various scandals and political views a candidate takes. All of these socializations
combined helps create the citizens political ideology. My political socialization is
very similar to the one I ve listed above. My mother is a liberal and my father is a
conservative. Those two political ideologies have helped me gain a understanding of
both sides and both views of a liberal and a conservative. My best friend Gavin is a

proves the person is capable of using any program that is relevant to design, since

There is a long list to go through in order for a person to choose what part of
graphic design he/she want to specialize in. That list includes creative director,
layout artist, brand identity design, logo designer, flash designer, illustrator,
technical illustrator, Photoshop artist, multimedia designer, photographer,

inventiveness in them.

Challenges to baseline analysis include simplifying the data for better analysis,

Policy Of Containment Essay
Failures and successes of the Policy of Containment United States of America, a very
obtrusive country that gets involved on everything it is not invited to. One of the
main goals of the United States was to stop the spread of Communism, which was
called containment . A proper definition for containment is a geopolitical strategy to
stop the expansion of an enemy , in this case to stop the expansion of communism
into non communist countries (mostly democratic). President Truman was
preoccupied for many countries that the Soviet Union wanted to turn them into
communist countries. Basically, that was the main purpose for the creation of this

Basically, President Kennedy was not taking any victory credits, which meant it was

blankets, stretched out and yawned a big yawn then went to my bathroom looked
into my green foggy eyes and tried to clean them by splashing cold fresh water
across my half awake face. I grabbed my toothbrush laid some toothpaste on their
and brushed away. I cleaned myself up then went into my closet and changed my
pajamas into a gray t shirt and some jeans and a pair of gray vans. I skipped every
other stair and tip toed into the kitchen where my mom was already done making
pancakes and scrambled eggs. She asked me Did you get Cecilio and Arturito up
yet? I answered No not yet. She turned around and gave me that look that every
mom gives their child when they know they did or said something wrong. I made
myself scarce and went up to my brothers room. I shook them senseless, yelled as if
I was mom, tickled them, and yet they still wouldn t get up. I didn t know what
else to do, so I walked out of their room and as I slowly closed their door my light
bulb turned on. I went back and peeked my head through the door and teased Mom
made pancakes and if you don t get up right now you are not going to get any.
Walking out I could hear them rolling out of their beds and hit the cold hardwood
floor. Their hunger grew as they washed their little faces, brushed their teeth, and
combed their thin brunette hair. They came down in

Beowulf Epic Hero
History teaches the essential qualities of a typical hero: bravery, courage, wit,
though an epic hero utilizes a trait unorthodox to most of humanity a fatal flaw.
Beowulf, an epic poem composed by an unknown Anglo Saxon, is the first piece of
work written in Old English. It tells the story of a warrior, (of the same name), and
his quests to defeat all evil that terrorizes the Scandinavian regions. The epic poem
was told in order to encourage men to help defend their lands. The Anglo Saxon men
were ones who believed in being heroes for their people. Like Beowulf, tales were
told to show how a warrior should behave. Beowulf illustrates an epic heroby: risking
death for the greater good, performing brave deeds, and by reflecting the ideas...

In Anglo Saxon culture and literature, to be a hero is to be a warrior. A hero had to

what others thought of the warrior Beowulf. Other Anglo Saxon characteristics

Research Paper On Sonic Waves
Whether or not you realize it, there is energy all around us. This energy changes
and influences the way the world works. When someone tells you to think of
energy, the first thing that likely comes to mind is electricity or heat, as that is
what we commonly see and hear about. If you are asked to think of a powerful
kind of energy, you may think of radiation or fire, as they can kill people and
destroy forests. Although these may be the most obvious kinds of energy, there is
another kind of energy that can be both more helpful and more dangerous; shock
waves. These waves surround us, yet we have only just began to explore their many
uses. Shock waves can be used by animals and humans for both utility and offense.

A rumor that almost everyone has heard of or seen at one point is an opera singer
breaking glass with nothing but their voice. Although it seems like an awesome
power, it is sadly less than real. The idea is that the performer would sing at the
objects resonant frequency loud enough to shatter the glass. Resonant frequency is
the frequency that an object vibrates at when hit. When a sound at an object s
resonant frequency is played, it causes the object to vibrate. Ideally, the glass would
shatter because it vibrates itself to pieces (Schrock, 2007). In theory it is possible, but
a human cannot create enough volume without machinery to shatter glass unless it is
the finest, most fragile crystal. Normal glass is simply too

Film Review: Mulan
An animated Disney movie called Mulan, was directed by Tony Bancroft and
Barry Cook in 1998. The moral of the story is that women can be just the same as
men can. I support the general meaning of the movie. I believe men that and
women should be treated equally and that women should not be seen as weak or
frail. Women are more than just wives or slaves and can do jobs that have
traditionally been set aside for men. They can be successful and bring honor to their
families in other ways. When Disney Studios created Mulan, the original was
changed to make it more exciting for movie audiences. Disney begins by showing
that there is only one way a woman can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She might not be the most feminine, she doesn t wear a big poofy dress. No corset
or high heels, but her natural beauty is what separates her from the rest. Mulan
doesn t need a man to stop her from pursuing her goals and accomplishments. She
knows how to fight, be strong, and push through tragic times in her life. Her mind set
shows that you don t need to worry about being perfect and that you should just be
yourself. Throughout the movie her main goal isn t to fall in love which is one my
most favorite points in the story that you do not need a prince to make you happy.
And she also demonstrated that women can be strong and fight even though people
expect them to be damsels. I also love how she carries herself with confidence,
beauty, and modesty. Mulan is a strong, intelligent, independent woman. She aims to
bring honor to her family and, more importantly, to find out who she truly is. She
uses intelligence and persistence to succeed in the army and save her country. She
does not rely on beauty or status to get her places.
Mulan, in fact, has more in common with male Disney leads than the female
Disney leads. Mulan is a thinker. She s resourceful, like Aladdin. She is quick to
act, like Eric (from The little Mermaid.) And she sacrifices herself for the sake of
others, like Hercules. She also speaks her mind, even in a culture that does not allow
such a thing. She doesn t waste time pining about will I ever
Treating Asthma
Asthma treatment is consistent with care along a continuum which may change at
any time to accommodate the individual s current symptoms. The clinical based
guidelines consist of step by step guidelines with varying treatments arranged by age
and organized by the severity and the addition of pharmacological therapies (NAEPP,
2007). The process of treating asthmahas been proven most successful with the
NAEPP clinical guidelines. The NAEPP guidelines provide a holistic approach to
caring for individuals suffering from asthma. Treatment consists of assessing and
monitoring the severity of one s asthma, the provision of patient education to assist
with self management, assisting with the need to control one s environmental risk

Follow up treatment or assessment has been identified as the single most
beneficial aspect to ensuring one s asthma is well controlled (Axelsson et al.,
2015). Follow up with individuals should take place between 2 6 weeks of acute
exacerbation and between 1 3 month intervals regularly (NAEPP, 2007).
Evaluation and changes in treatment are recommended based on assessment of one
s adherence to medication regimens and management of environmental factors
(NAEPP, 2007). Once it is established if the individual is maintaining adherence
and controlling environmental factors but the individual s asthma that is not well
controlled a one step up method of treatment is recommended and a two step up
approach for very poorly controlled individuals (NAEPP, 2007). Asthma well
controlled should be evaluated and concluded controlled for 3 months prior to
changes in medication regimens (NAEPP, 2007). After 3 months of well controlled
asthma, an individual s medication regimen may be stepped down by 1 step and
the dose of ICS s may be reduced by 25 percent every 3 months until the lowest
control dose is reached (NAEPP, 2007).
In the event asthma is no longer manageable by a primary clinician the need for a
referral may be require. Referral to an asthma specialist for management is
recommended if there are complications achieving or maintaining control of asthma.
Also, if the patient required more than 2 uses of oral systemic corticosteroids in 1
year or has required hospitalization it is imperative for the individual to be referred
for further management (NAEPP,
The Legacy Of A Good President

Paul states, I am not opposed to birth control, he said. After a pause, he elaborated.
That s basically what Plan B is. Plan B is taking two birth control pills in the
morning and two in the evening, and I am not opposed to that. This means he
agrees with the morning after pill. He disagrees with government funding for
abortion. He signed a no taxpayer funding for abortion act. The act prohibits
federal funds being used to cover abortion but excludes in cases such as rape, incest,
or if a woman is in danger of death. It also disqualifies for purpose of tax deduction of

Taxes in this country help pay for many government and state programs. Right now
we have seven tax bracket tax plan for income tax. The plan is based on how much
you make, the more you make the higher the present. Paul s plan calls for a

production and capital income. The TGM (Taxes and Growth Model) estimates an

Achievements Of The Mughal Empire
As the Mughal Empire embarks the start to the highest points of tradition and culture
in India, this age began with the creation of India s greatest Empires The Mughals.
The Mughal rulers brought India to its pinnacle of political power, and cultural
success (Spielvogel 530). To acknowledge some of the greatest rulers of the Mughal
EmpireBabur, Akbar, and Aurangzeb; these rulers created some of the greatest
achievements in India, and some of the greatest controversies as well.
The founder of the Mughal Empire was Babur, who had an esteemed background,
in regards to his family. Babur s father was an Asian conqueror of Tamerlane, and
Babur inherited a part of the empire. At his youth, Babur led a group of soldiers
who conquered Kabul in 1504. With Babur s past working an an authoritative
figure for the Tamerlane s Empire, helped him to seize Delhi, and other parts of
North India, until his death in 1530 (Spielvogel 530). However, it was not his
revere background that made Babur a powerful model during this time, it was
Babur s resilience and dominance that led India into one of it s highest peaks. With
only twelve thousand troops against a significantly large army, Babur captured
Delhi, and established his rule there (Spielvogel 531). With Babur s explicit
intelligence, and prowess, Babur established himself to be one of the greatest rulers
in India, and led India into a time of achievement and success.

Decision Making Model Analysis
Decisions! Decisions! Decisions! How do you make decisions? Have you ever asked
yourself, How did I make that decision? Whether big or small, important or not so
important, decision making is a process. Some people way the pros and cons while
others may just flip a coin. Are decisions based on feelings, outcomes or information?
Often times if we just go with our gut feeling will be miss out on important
information that should be included in our decision.
Decision making can be a cognitive process of selecting a course of action form
various options. Some of us are logical. Some of us are risk taking. Either way such
characteristics play a role in our decisions. In my experience decision making can ...

Step One is to identify the decision to be made. In my case, the decision was whether
to take a new job opportunity or remain in my existing position.
Step Two is to do a self assessment. At this point, I began to consider my needs and
wants. Would the new opportunity really be something I would enjoy? Would it be
challenging? This particular new opportunity was an office position. I am
accustomed to working in the field. So I had to ask myself how will I adapt to the
everyday office environment.
Step Three is to identify the options. I began to gather information about other
potential opportunities that may soon be an option. Should I settle for this
opportunity or what for one more suitable for me, is a question I proposed to myself.
Step Four is to gather information and data. I reviewed the salary potential of the job
opportunity. I considered the current salary and potential future salary increase.
Step Five is to evaluate options that will solve the problem. In trying to make my
decision, I listed the pros and cons. I thought about the potential disadvantages of
leaving my current position.
Step Six is to select on of the options. At this point, Roberts believes you should have
enough information to choose an option. In my decision, I had all the information I
needed to make my decision. While, the new opportunity offered a higher salary, the
responsibilities where not tasks of interest.
Step Seven is to design a course of action to
Stephen Crane Essay
amp;#9;Stephen Crane was one of the United States foremost naturalists in the late
1800 s ( amp;quot;Stephen amp;quot; n.p.). He depicted the human mind in a way
that few others have been capable of doing while examining his own beliefs. Crane
was so dedicated to his beliefs that one should write about only what they personally
experience that he lived in a self imposed poverty for part of his life to spur on his
writings (Colvert, 12:108). Crane s contribution to American Literatureis larger than
any one of his books or poems. All parts of Crane s life greatly influenced, or were
influenced by his writings, whether it was his early life, formal education, writing
career, or later years ( amp;quot;Stephen amp;quot; n.p.).... Show more content on

After leaving Lafayette, he moved on to attend Syracuse University, where he also
played baseball, and wrote for his brother s news service (Colvert 12:102). It is said
that Crane wrote the preliminary sketch of his novella, Maggie, while at Syracuse. He
eventually decided to quit school and become a full time reporter for the New York
Tribune ( amp;quot;Stephen amp;quot; n.p.).
amp;#9;Crane began his writing career in poverty, hoping that it would inspire
him to write. Along with his beliefs in Darwinism, he drew much if his influences
from his religious beliefs (Colvert 12:108). Famous writers such as Hamlin
Garland, William Howells, Rudyard Kipling, and Tolstoy also influenced him
(12:101). The first of his stories was Maggie, which was very unpopular (
amp;quot;Stephen amp;quot; n.p.). His second novel, The Red Badge of
Courage, earned Crane international fame. The Red Badge of Courage showed
Crane s views of life as warfare in a book that is basically plotless. It is about a
young soldier, Henry Fleming, and the emotions that he experiences during wartime
( amp;quot;Stephen amp;quot; n.p.). Crane s most famous work of poetry was
Black Riders, which appears to have little or no outside influences (Quartermain

was vengeful and wrathful (Colvert 12:101).

Toot! Toot! A train came to a halt in Anhui, China, and a small Chinese women

Two Thanksgiving Day Gentlemen Thesis
Two Thanksgiving Day Gentlemen Thesis In the short story Two Thanksgiving Day
Gentlemen by O. Henry, the author is illustrating the idea that we collapse under
tradition. People go out of their way to uphold traditions and it ends up destroying
them. The story demonstrates two men maintaining a tradition they feel they have no
choice but to keep. The thought of forsaking it never even crosses their minds.
Stuffy was very full, but he understood that he was part of a tradition. His desire for
food on Thanksgiving Day was not his own. It belonged to this kind Old Gentleman.
True, America is free. But there are some things that must be done. Stuffy believes
that he is, essentially, doing a kindness to the Old Gentleman. And the Old Gentleman

memorable conquerors have left their heritage. The years that spanned from 500
1500 known as the Middle Ages, or the medieval period, were the Age of
Discovery. Were it took a shift from old fashioned to modern. In the course of such
years, forces such as the Church and state rose and fell. Societies slowly emerged,
having strong rulers as allies. It is true, though, that all of these rulers were peculiarly
different. Still, the reign of William the Conqueror and Charlemagneleft a memory of
fierce, strong, and victorious monarchs. The ruling of both of these leaders were very
different in the role of faith and development in learning and knowledge. Yet their

incorporated religion in their skills of conquering. This means, faith was an important
element on how they ruled and their actions. However, Charlemagne and William
indeed were very different. In fact, Charlemagne s rule was maintained by the
strength of his personality, meaning a unified royal authority came first. While
William the Conqueror was desperate on winning more lands and was brutal on
battles, Charlemagne focused his reign on education and

Big Two Hearted River
The aim of this paper is to analyze the importance and relation of the setting and
characters in the two short stories: The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins
Gilman and Ernest Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River.
The setting in The Yellow Wallpaper helps illustrate the theme of solitary
confinement and exclusion from the public resulting in insanity. The house rented by
the characters for the summer as well as the surrounding scenery suggest an isolated
environment. Because of its vast colonial mansion look, its age and state of

This will be Nick s last contact with civilization as he immerses himself in the natural
world. The most significant feature of the setting is the river, clear and smoothly fast
in the early morning . It symbolizes spiritual renewal for Nick, his escape from
suffering and the troubled world. Another important part of the setting are
grasshoppers which have turned black, and thus have the same colour as the burnt
land. Their accommodation may indicate Nick s adjustment to the present situation.
The setting also consists of the dark swamp which is forbidding, not to be faced at
the moment, as the fishing there is tragic .
Jane, the protagonist of The Yellow Wallpaper , dominated by her husband, suffers
from a nervous disorder which is enhanced by her feeling of being trapped within
the room. She finds a way of escaping from the uncomfortable reality by writing the
journal in which she analyzes the wallpaper, but also herself and her illness
subconsciously. A strange, provoking, formless sort of figure that seems to skulk
about behind that silly and conspicuous front design of the yellow wallpaper
gradually becomes the projection of her imagination. Jane finally recognizes the fact
that the woman she sees behind the wallpaper is really her own frame of mind. She
believes that she has at

Perfect Family Essay. Descriptive essay: Write essay on my family

  • 1. Perfect Family Essay Writing an essay on the topic of a "Perfect Family" can be a challenging endeavor, primarily because the concept of a perfect family is subjective and varies greatly from person to person. The difficulty arises from the diverse perspectives people hold regarding what constitutes an ideal family. Some may view it as a harmonious unit with strong bonds, while others may emphasize the importance of individual autonomy within the family structure. Attempting to define a perfect family requires delving into societal expectations, cultural influences, and personal beliefs. Each individual may have a unique vision shaped by their upbringing, experiences, and values. As a writer, navigating through these varied perspectives and presenting a cohesive argument can be demanding. Moreover, societal norms and expectations of a perfect family often change over time. The dynamic nature of family structures, evolving social norms, and the impact of external factors make it challenging to create a universally accepted definition. Balancing traditional ideals with modern realities adds an additional layer of complexity to the essay. To successfully tackle this topic, one must conduct thorough research, gather diverse opinions, and critically analyze the multifaceted aspects of family life. Crafting an essay that not only acknowledges the diversity of perspectives but also presents a well-reasoned argument requires careful consideration and thoughtful articulation. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of a "Perfect Family" demands a nuanced approach that accounts for the subjectivity and evolving nature of the concept. It involves navigating through diverse perspectives, cultural nuances, and societal changes. Nevertheless, the challenge lies in presenting a cohesive and well-supported argument that resonates with readers regardless of their individual beliefs. • 3. Intellectual Disabilities In The 20th Century Regarding the misunderstood communication of people with disabilities, many of their rights were taken away. With this in mind, many people suffered and even died from the asylums that were suppose to help them function in the real world. Treatment for people having intellectual disabilities happened in as early as the years of the beginning of the 20th century, 1901. People having disabilities in the early 20th century was important because humans were mistreated and segregated into different groups, also known as fortunate and unfortunate. Three facts about Treatment for people with intellectual disabilities in the early 20th century are that the society as a whole did not understand why or how children or adults had disabilities , they did not know how to treat the people with the disabilities also some of the institution centers were also know to show segregation and to treat the patients unfair leading to the fact that they also thought they would have an bad effect on other people if they weren t sent to an institution to receive treatment .... • 4. Military Vs. Military Robotics Are we truly enlightened in the advancement of what technology has given for all the branches in the army? From science fiction movies such as The Terminator and I, Robot, robotics has come pretty far in the military industry from building prosthetic arms for the injured veterans to unmanned aircraft that can do surveillance without getting caught under the radar of enemy territory. Militaryrobotics have stretched beyond the previous potential of what it originally supposes to accomplish; the military even has robotics where little drones that are controlled by a remote can camouflage in any terrain. Even though critics and politicians claim military robotics cause more destruction and can be hacked into their databases by a single binary code, the military needs to continue implementing more robotic soldiers, drones, vehicles and aircraft because they are such an asset in reducing casualties, superior abilities to humans that cannot be done manually by soldiers easily, and being work efficient as well as cost efficient. Without these robotics from the military, the heroes of our nation have a lower chance of making it back home to their families knowing they may not live to see them unless they have serious assistance from technology. The history of military robotics dates back to World War II and the Cold War. During those times of spying, weaponry and strategic attacks, these robots were in the form of Germany s type of robotics and Russian weaponry called teletanks .
  • 5. Magna Carta Research Paper JosГ© Valdez The Magna Carta The Magna Carta is one of the most important documents from the Middle Ages. It was a charter of liberties that, King John of England, agreed to. It would initially put him, future kings, and the rest of England under a unified rule of law. It can be generally described as a peace treaty. It was written by King John s barons who were the lowest level of British nobility. All of it was originally written in Latin, so its name translates to The Great Charter . Those involved with The Magna Carta were powerful men of the time. The charter itself was made because of King John, who was just a terrible king that abused his great power. He lied, was greedy, and didn t really care about anyone but himself. During those ... Things were fair, and the King still had to obey the laws which everyone else did. The Magna Carta consists of a preamble and 63 short clauses. The document also guaranteed the rights of the people, the right to justice and the right to a fair trial. The U.S. Constitution Bill of Rights, still used now, have some obvious influences from the Magna Carta. For example, the Fifth Amendment states, Nor shall any persons be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law . This is basically Clause 39. It created a basis for ruling which were finally fair for everyone. The kings couldn t abuse their power for their own personal gain, they were subjects to the rules of justice that everyone else was. Though only 3 of the clauses are still used in present times, The Magna Carta holds the foundation for English common law as it is known
  • 6. How Does The Boo Radley House Symbolize In To Kill A... The Boo Radley house reflects mystery, fear, and understanding. Harper Lee has Scout explain how people tremble when walking on the sidewalk next his home, which shows how the Boo Radley house is a great symbol in To Kill a Mockingbird. Arthur Radlenny gives the children and the people in the community a feeling of uneasy edge when they are around his house. A Negro would not pass the Radley Place at night, he would cut across to the sidewalk opposite and whistle as he walked... People are scared to walk near the Boo Radley place due to the mysterious man that lives there. Arthur Boo Radley is never seen by Jem, Dill or Scout until the very end of the novel when he saves the children from Bob Ewell. Even then, Scout is the only one of the

These two sections were most likely deposited within a marine shelf, perhaps below the storm water wave base (notebook page 33). The Quinnanie, displaying no trace fossils or bioturbation and generally massive in structure may suggest that it was deposited at greater depths than the Wandagee Formation or it may suggest a cycle of shallowing and deepening waters, due to tidal influences. The Quinnanie representing deepened waters. Its more organic make up may also indicate that it was deposited at greater depths than the Wandagee. The Wandagee Formation contains a vast number of structures that indicate a shallower environment than the Quinnanie. Whilst still being deposited below the storm water wave base, it may be possible that it was deposited during a shallowing oscillation. Trace fossils that were burrowing indicate shallower waters, the stratigraphic log demonstrates these relationships, figure 22). 5.7 Petroleum Potential Quinnanie Shale is suggested to be a source rock, it has fair levels of organics, but has low generating potential, and is most likely more gas prone. The Byro Group itself contains some source rocks. However, it is suggested that this system is immature (Ghori, 1998) 5.8 Discussion of the Williambury
  • 8. Scottsboro Boys Tom Robinson Case One of the most important cases in the history of the judicial system is little known in the modern world. The case of the Scottsboro Boys made headlines in early 1931 when nine African American men were charged with the gang rape of two white females on a freight train from Chattanooga to Memphis. Since the time of the trial, it has become widely accepted that the allegation was false and that no rape actually occurred. The trial continued in roughly the same way, with Leibowitz managing to make the case seem as one sided as possible with each consecutive witness disproving Price s testimony at every available moment. This string of witnesses led up to the climactic entrance of Ruby Bates, who had been missing for several months before the trial. Just as the defense closed its case, she burst in through the door of the courtroom and delivered a testimony that completely disproved everything previously said by Victoria Price. When questioned about the legitimacy of her testimony upon cross examination Bates said, I told it like Victoria Price told it. How she told me to tell it. The President s Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice (PCLEAJ) wanted a less lethal weapon which was just as capable in incapacitating a suspect as a handgun with little risk of permanent injury to the person who was the target. These themes are developed by confusion regarding the truth, confronting the truth, and the consequences that lying can have. The books theme is something that readers can relate towards in their own everyday lives, making it a universal theme. The play begins with the introduction of the characters Angus, Morgan, and Miles. Angus and Morgan are two best friends who own a farm in Ontario, and Miles is an actor who is in a play about farming. As the story continues the reader gets a deeper look into the life of the farmers and sees that they haven t lived an easy life. One day Miles arrives at the farm looking to learn more about farm life for a play that he is starring in. Their husband, father, and brothers were sent off to war. Many companies around the United States were left with production needs and little to no employees to do the job. In a time period, where women are expected to be confident and independent, they had to also realize they had little to no power in society. They had societal rules that they must stay at home to cook, clean, and care for the children. With the men who were prominent in their lives coming and going from war. These factors caused the birth of a new era. This is the era where women were emerging. Women were changing by being more independent sexually and expressing their emotions through music, poetry, and movies. One important theme of the women of the 1920 s that connects various aspects of the women is their sexuality. Patricia Patty Campbell Hearst, a Berkeley undergraduate student, on February 4, 1974 at nineteen years of age was kidnapped by a group of men and women after leaving her beaten fiancГ© behind (Winter, 2005). This group of men and women formed the Symbionese Liberation Army(SLA), a radical group of domestic terrorists, led by Donald DeFreeze, with the mission to destroy the capitalist state (Hixson, 2005). The group was formed in Berkley, California with their main priorities being to end racism, monogamy, the prison system, and all other institutions that have made and sustained capitalism. The Influences Of Rome On The Byzantine Empire Essay Gabrielle Rechler Final Art History Paper The Influences of Rome on the Byzantine Empire The legal, cultural, and structural developments during the Roman Empire (753 BCE 476 CE) have had an effect on Western civilization. Influenced by the ideals of the ancient Greeks, the empire lived through many worldwide transformations that changed the way in which emperors governed and ruled the Roman people, and these adaptations can be seen in the style of artwork in each Roman reign. One of the most notable changes in art style is in the Late Empire Period, during the third and fourth centuries, where the change in government, from imperial rule to the tetrarchy, led artists to focus on the message of the piece rather than the individual represented, and become more abstract and geometric rather than classical and individualistic.[footnoteRef:1] Another notable period of change was under Constantine I, who overthrew the tetrarchy, and was the first Roman emperor to embrace Christianity. [1: Marilyn Stokstad and Michael W. Cothren, Art History. 4th ed., Vol 1 (London: Laurence King Publishing, 2011), 207.] During his reign, art combined the geometric style from the tetrarchy with a touch of the previous verism, demonstrating Constantine?s independent power. However, after his rule, the Roman Empire once again divided into two rulers: one for the eastern parts, and one for the western parts. In the east, the Byzantine Empire developed under the Theodosian Dynasty

The writing process I followed when creating the original assignment consisted of research, a rough draft, a small amount of editing, and a final draft. Researching the topic was the first step I took in writing my paper. I searched for credible and useful information that would have a positive effect on my essay. After gathering my information, I worked to create an outline that would assist in the organization and structure of my essay. I then used my outline to begin a rough draft by inserting research, as well as my own thoughts and ideas. After editing and revising my essay, I ended with a final draft. The editing done to the paper was basic and done solely by myself. I did not use any resources such as the writingcenter. Along with this, peer reviews were not helpful as my group did not strive to make any meaningful corrections or provide any constructive criticism. Because I had little corrections the amount of editing or revising done was limited. Throughout the duration of this class, the process in which I write an essay has changed. To decide what information I wanted left alone and what information I should take out, I went through my original assignment and read the comments made by my instructor. • 30. Richard Wright s Native Son, Race Is The Main Source Of... Behaviors Created by Racism in Native Son In Richard Wright s Native Son, race is the main source of problems for Bigger Thomas. Bigger is an African American man who is distrustful of whites and regularly acts out in violence. The novel is set in the 1940 s when racism was considered a social norm. African Americans could live out their dreams or choose for themselves and this makes many of them angry. Whites expected them to commit crimes and were quick to accuse them of anything. So, due to poor treatment, perhaps the whites unknowingly conditioned the African Americans to act in the stereotypical way they viewed them. Had racismnot been present these assumptions and crimes most likely would not have been committed. Many scholars have studied the effects of racism on its victim and found that it can cause a person to act in a way they may not have in a different situation. Racism can make a person feel small, unheard, and trapped. In the novel, the reader know that Bigger felt all of these things and that is probably why he did all the things he did. His hatred towards whites caused him to act violently, ultimately killing a young white woman. There were a few people in the novel, such as Mr. and Mrs. Dalton, Mary, and Jan, who were claiming to help African Americans try to overcome the issues they faced. Even though they claimed they were trying to help, overall they were part of the problem and in no way fixing it. If Richard Wright s Native Son were to

The Hound Of The Baskervilles By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Essay Most often, people have an image in their mind when they think of detectives, whether the image is a man in a trench coat holding a magnifying glass, a beloved childhood character like Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys, or the classic Victorian detective. While all of these may hold true, one specific person comes to mind at the mention of a detective, Mr. Sherlock Holmes. Along with images of detectives come preconceived ideas of what a detective or mystery novel should be or what it should contain. Within the genre, numerous authors have stood out among the others and set their own standard for these works of literature. In The Hound of the Baskervillesby Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Doyle employs juxtaposed settings, descriptive imagery, and the symbolism that each convey to establish an immense attention to detail which maximizes the effectiveness of his writing in the genre of detection in this classic Sherlock Holmes story. Throughout the novel, Doyle sets up an immense contrast between the settings of the story which acts as a guide to clearly distinguish between the locations and give insight into their symbolism. In The Hound of the Baskervilles there are two distinct locations in which the story takes place, London and Dartmoor. London is where the story begins, where Sherlock and Watson are first introduced to the case, and where things first start to seem peculiar. Though these first events that set up the mystery of the novel take place in London, London is a symbol of
