This document provides an analysis of the music video for the song "Air Traffic" by summarizing some of its key features: 1) It is a hybrid narrative/performance video that jumps between a girl and the band performing. 2) It shows many of Goodwin's key features of music videos within the first 30 seconds, including relating visuals to lyrics and having elements of band performance. 3) There are strange links between the narrative and performance sides, such as a lamp crashing where the band is performing.

2. Introduction
 It is straight away obvious to us that this is
ahybridbetween a Narrative and a performance
based video as it starts off with a girl, who is not
part of the band, but then jump cuts to a man
playing the piano and singing.

3.  In just the first 30 seconds we have already seen
many of Andrew Goodwin’s key features of a
music video. First of all there is a relationship
between the lyrics and visuals as the lead singer
is singing about a pretty woman, secondly there
are large elements of performance such as
singing, playing the piano and playing the drums
and finally, the demand of the record label is
being met as there are a lot of close ups on
members of the band

5.  In this particular video there is a strange link
between the narrative side and the performance
side. For example, when the lamp from the
narrative set flies up in to the air, it come crashing
down shortly after where the band is performing.

6. Other relationships
 There is a clip of a man dropping a watch as the
lyrics say ‘and I’m trying to fit you in’. The man is
also dropping the watch as he can’t fit her in, but
maybe if he could he wouldn’t be dropping it.

7.  At 1.09 the lyrics say ‘we can piece it back
together’. This has an ambiguous meanings as
the narrative side of the video makes it clear he
talking about the man and woman’s relationship,
but at the same time things are being smashed
and broken.

8.  There is also a relationship between the music
and visuals which represent another one of
Goodwin’s key features. As items are falling to
the ground, the beat of the drum and symbols
coincide with when they smash, such as at 1.24

9. Demands
 Once again the demands of the record
company is being met again as towards the end
of the video we see a lot of shots featuring the
who band.
