This document provides instructions on how to use a Vernier caliper to take accurate length measurements. It describes the parts of the Vernier caliper, how to identify the zero point, and how to take readings down to 0.02 mm. Students are shown how to read the main scale in millimeters and then find the corresponding line on the vernier scale, which is divided into 20 equal parts, to determine the fractional millimeter measurement. An example measurement of 60.56 mm is provided to demonstrate how to calculate the reading from the main and vernier scales.
