Similarities And Differences Between Islamic Banking And...
CHAPTER ONE
GENERAL INTRODUCTION
1.1BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY
This study is undertaken to understand the concept and features of Islamic banking and
conventional banking, the similarity and differences between the two systems and their economic
implications. Generally, a financial institution or a financial intermediary that accepts deposits and
channels those deposits into lending activities, either directly or through capital markets is given
the name of bank. its source of generating revenue and cost of funds is charging of interest through
lending and also accepting deposits for interest respectively. Interest is the major driver of
operations of conventional banks although other valuable services including guarantees, funds
transfers, safety of wealth, facilitation in international trade etc., also form a substantial part of
income of banks.
Islamic banking is a banking system which is established and controlled by the principles laid down
by Islamic Shariah. Interest free banking is a narrow concept denoting a number of banking
instruments or operations which avoid interest. Islamic banking institutions are established under
the Islamic shariah not only as an non interest based institution but also unethical and anti social
practices. In a practical sense, Islamic banking is system which involves the transformation of
conventional money lending into transactions based on tangible assets and real services based on
the permissibly Shariah principles. The model at which

Camargo s The Ballet Body
The Ballet Body
The origin of the dance figure was in the eighteenth century. A young dancer by the name of
Marie Camargo became a prominent figure on the stage. She was light footed sure of her steps
and shorter than all of the male dancers on the stage. Her timing for her career was perfect. This
was at the time that it became fashionable to go to the ballet. Camargo became famous and every
young dancer in the world wanted to go to the same dance company so that they could share in her
fame. The company would not let any new dancers in who were taller than their star performer.
As girls reached five feet five their dreams would be smashed at the realization that they would
never have Camargo s figure. This new dancer also redefined the shape of the classical ballet
dancer. Before her debut on the stage the ballet dancers were not traditionally small, but due to her
popularity, the new figure became mandatory to succeed in the world of ballet.

what the girls are doing, it is possible that eating disorders have already started to come into the
light. In severe cases, girls have starved themselves and in the end, they have died. When the adults
do find out what s going on girls often quit or turn to modern dance because there figure isn t
suitable for modern ballet. Unfortunately, teachers still put into students heads that they are, too fat
and need to go on a diet. That then gets interpreted as stop eating or you will never become a

Philosophy of Literacy Instruction
Literacy Defined
Literacy embraces reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Integrating all of these into a literacy
program is key. Teachers must provide endless and ongoing opportunities for their student to read,
write, listen, and speak.
There are many components that make up literacy. In order to effectively teach students these
components the teacher must model the concept for the students. As teachers, we can t expect or
assume that the student already knows what we expect of them. Modeling gives students a basis of
what to go by. Modeling is the first and most important step in order for the students to gain mastery
of a concept. A teacher must also undergo guided practice with the students. A teacher should always

For every area of development that I need to address with a student I will make sure that I have at
least two positives to go along with it. This will not bring a child down.
Another important part of my literacy program will be communication with home. I will send home
newsletters and have school meetings where the parents are invited to attend. I will always keep the
parents/guardians informed on everything we are doing in class. I will send home praise notes
rather than just negative notes on students.
In my classroom I will have a specific outline as to what a literacy lesson will look like. Each lesson
will focus on reading, writing, speaking, and listening. I will have a set behavior management plan
that will be followed at all times. I will always introduce a lesson by activating prior knowledge,
motivating the student, and by stating the objectives. I will always model for the students what it is
that they are expected to do. The students will always undergo guided practice before they set off
on their own to do something. Then when I am sure that the students understand I will have them
independently practice. Once the concept is mastered I will assess each student to be sure that they
can apply what they have learned.
When my students pick up a book they will automatically know what to do. I will teach the
students to always predict before they read. I will have the students look at the title and the picture

Nokia Case Study
February 27, 2011
I. Introduction
This case study will examine the development and implementation of corporate strategy of the
Nokia Corporation. This case study will examine in particular recent events involving Nokia s
cellular phone business.
Nokia is a Finnish company that is the world s largest manufacturer of mobile devices. In addition,
Nokia offers communication services, software, as well as, phone and internet based content.
Nokia includes a network management segment called Nokia Siemens Networks which offers
network based products and services. This case study will focus primarily on the mobile device

Conversely, there is opportunity to use multiple vendors to product one type of component which
reduces supplier power.
Bargaining Power of Buyers
The bargaining power of the buyer is fairly high. There are many options with regard to mobile
device providers. In addition, service carriers, such as AT T, Sprint and Verizon are the entities
that put the various products before the end user. This requires that Nokia provide incentives to
carriers. This is particularly true in the United States where Nokia does not have as strong a
presence as in Europe and Asia (O Brien, 2009).

Environmental Assessment Essay
INTRODUCTION
The Methow Valley Ranger District which belongs to Forest Service, cooperates with the
Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation (Yakama Nation) and Bonneville Power
Administration (BPA), propose to re establish, enhance and improve the diversity of aquatic habitat
for Endangered Species Act (ESA) listed fish in the River Mile (R.M.) 15.5 20 reach of the
Chewuch River. They plan to start this project on the Methow Valley Ranger District of the
Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest in Okanogan County in north central Washington State
starting in the summer of 2017. This Environmental Assessment (EA) was prepared compliant to
the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ)
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The major environmental issue is that lack of habitat diversity in the Chewuch River limited fish
productivity for anadromous fish listed under the Endangered Species Act. There is a need to
restore habitat diversity by increasing large wood quantities, pool frequency and quality, and re
establishing side and off channel habitat to improve fish habitat for ESA listed species.
PROPOSED ACTION AND ALTERNATIVE
The Forest Service and the Yakama Nation, funded by BPA, are currently proposing restoration
actions on the Chewuch River from R.M. 15.5 to 20.0. The proposed project has been designed to
enhance fish habitat and to improve fish habitat diversity by Increasing habitat complexity by the
introduction of large wood. Increasing pool habitat, and restoring historical off channel habitat. On
the other hand, the No Action Alternative would neither restore wood or stream side channels in
the 15.5 20 R.M. nor any other river restoration activities. The recovery process will follow the
nurture processes.
STRENGTH
This EA is clearly and contains details in every section. Additionally, this EA complied with the
NEPA requirements which four sections covered all the information. The EA contains the purpose
and need for the summary, followed by the second part which is alternative description, and the
third section is existing condition and environmental consequences, finally, the last section contains
the references.

My Experience Of Moving From California
For my personal essay, I choose to write about my experience of moving from California to New
Hampshire, how much I grow as a person for the past five years, and the difference between the
east coast and the west coast. I also wanted to talk about how different is the education system
between California and New Hampshire, how I feel about the weatheron the East coast, and the
difference between city.
On January 2010, my family gets off the plane at Logan airport Boston. Walking through the
tunnel, I could feel the chilly cold weather, is was the first time ever that I got to experience it.
In Anaheim, the weather is usually dry, humid, and hot, sometimes it could hit up to 100 degrees
Fahrenheit. So experiencing cold, chilly winter in Boston for the very first time is not very good
experience for me. As I walk through the airport terminal, and get in my cousin car as he drove
our family to our new apartment, I saw something that I never saw before in my life, a small white
crystal flake rain down from the sky, it snow! As I think about it in my mind, I ve never seen this
kind of phenomenon In Anaheim as the only thing that we get are hot sunny sky. As my cousin
car drive through the Tobin bridged, I saw it drop at a fast pace and in no time, it has begun to
pile up like the leaf during autumn. When the car goes through downtown Dover, I was amazed by
the architecture of the city, and the drastic differences between Dover and the city that I live in
California. The small

Life Poem Analysis
The author Paul Laurence Dunbar wants the readers to acknowledge how he uses concrete and
abstract in his poem called Life . Throughout his poem he uses concrete to make us feel how
sadness takes over happiness most of the time, another strategy the author uses is abstract he
uses it in a deep matter, he makes you think something that isn t normal that you can t visualize,
he uses it a lot but also combines it with concrete as well. As a matter a fact this connects with
something about my personal point of view so far because I also feel that I can t enjoy life as
much as I would want but there s always another bad side and it s the problems that make you
fall in depression and other stuff that has to do with sadness. However in the poem Life the writer
expresses his poem by using concrete and abstract images, he tells us how life is too ironic to fully
understand how you truly feel, but in his perspective sadness lasts more than being happy as well.
In other words the author uses concrete to express how in the poem Life you can feel sadness
and can imagine it, during the poem he mentioned with a smile to warm and the tears to refresh
us this was an example of concrete when the author said a smile to warm you can actually feel a
smile you can actually feel when you re warm, it also goes with the same thing when it says and
the tears to refresh us you can feel when you cry also feel the tears like it s refreshing your face as
saying happiness gets erased by the tears when you re getting refreshed. Another well done example
the author used is when he said in his poem A pintof joy to a peck of trouble the author basically
just mentioned how a pint of joy goes by so fast and when trouble comes, it comes in a matter of
seconds and sometimes it can happen keep happening instantly, therefore it s concrete because you
can feel the pint of joy where you actually feel the happiness but then he said peck means your
conflicts start showing up rapidly. Additionally, he used the same strategy when author said And
never a laugh, but the moans come double; this one is pretty straightforward when he said And
never a laugh you know when you laugh you feel the happiness. However, if you laugh it s

Relationship between China-Japan, China-Australia and...
In this section I will be detailing and comparing the relationships between China Japan, China
Australia, and China Venezuela. I am first going to start with the relationship between China and
Japan. I will begin with the time frame between the years of 1949 1969. During this time, China
sees Japan as a threat, which is not surprising because of Japan s assault against China in the 1890s
to 1920s, Japans brutal occupation of China in the 1930s and 1940s and Japan s role in America s
containment strategy against China. China counters Japan by forming a military alliance with the
Soviet Union in 1950. This alliance was indirectly directed at the United Statesbut primarily
directed against Japan. China tried to encourage Japan to have better relations by playing upon
Japanese war guilt and issues of Japanese behavior in the 1930s and 40s. This didn t work in the
political dimension of the relationship. China felt that better relations with Japan would be useful,
both politically and economically. But Japan would not normalize relations because of its close
relationship with the United States and the nationalists. On the economic front, things were
different, as trade started to grow. The countries are so close to one another that it made sense.
Meanwhile, Japan is still recovering from the war, but is recovering rapidly and becomes an
important potential partner for China. In the 1960s the forming of a trade relationship began. The
two countries assign some memorandums of

for Wireless Sensor nodes
Prepared by: Mukesh MishraDate: 21/03/2016
1.Introduction
A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is comprised of multiple tiny devices called nodes or motes.
These are distributed spatially in an environment to monitor sense and compute data wirelessly. The
role of a sensor node is to evaluate different tasks. First, a node has to sense physical conditions and
exchange the information with other nodes after computation. Second, it plays the important role of
being a relay for different sensor nodes [1],[2],[3],[4]. These nodes can mount anywhere in the
environment [2]. With recent advancements in the field of electronics these devices are becoming
cheaper and smaller and are being employed in both indoor and outdoor environments. Applications
include agricultural monitoring, household and military surveillance, industrial automation and
robotics, and healthcare [3]. A sensor node, shown in Figure.1 is a low power device and consists
of five different components namely [5], [12]
(i)Sensing unit: comprises of two sub units: sensors and analog to digital converter (ADC).
Sensors are capable to measure electrical parameters and interface to the real world. The analog
signals produced by the sensors based on observed phenomena are converted in to digital signals
by ADC. After sampling these signals are fed into the microcontroller for processing

Persuasive Essay About Teen Pregnancy
Teen pregnancy......what comes in mind when you hear the words Teen Pregnancy ? Well, teen
pregnancy are young female girls that become pregnant under the age of 20. A female can become
pregnant from having sexual intercourse and after she have started to ovulate. Young female girls
will become pregnant without even thinking about the consequences and the type of environment
the baby will be in. Not because the young mother is poor or rich, but because they re not ready to
take care of another human being. Not to mention, pregnant teens are young themselves, so their
also growing. There are plenty of problems that are the cause of teen pregnancy, and many of those
problems can be solved.
One reason for teen pregnancy is the lack of information that is given to students in middle and
high school about sex and how to prevent it from happening. Also, the lack amount of talks from
parents that they can give to their teen. I wouldn t say there isn t any education given out to
students about sex, but there isn t ENOUGH to make pre teens and teens to fully understand and
have the right mind set about sex. Many schools won t really focus on the topic about teen
pregnancy because it really doesn t have much about academics and that s really understandable, but
at the end of the day teens are also human and do make mistakes. I believe schools should give
education about teen pregnancy as much as the other subjects. The topic of teen pregnancy shouldn
t be left out because talking to your teen about sex can definitely influence their lifestyle. Many
teens would learn about sex in the streets which it totally horrible because 9/10, the streets will
educate them to have sex rather than not to. The solution to this problem is that parents and schools
should educate their teens/students with more education about teen pregnancy, so that the number
pregnant teens can decrease in near future.
Another reason for teen pregnancy is social media. Social media can have a huge impact on how
teens can view their lives by influencing them with a different kind of lifestyle. Not to mention,
teens can easily be brainwashed by what they see on there and think what they see on social media
is good, is actually wrong. Social media will have

Compare And Contrast Princess Bride And Shrek
Often expressing love can be challenging. At times, different forms of love can be misunderstanding
such as mistaking lust for love. The book, The Princess Bride, written by William Goldman, and the
movie Shrek directed by Andrew Adamson, both portray individuals facing tough situations that
can only overcome through the power of love. Specifically, in both contexts, this is proven through
the characters, Westley and Shrek, and Princess Buttercup and Princess Fiona. Westley and Shrek
share similar characteristics. Both characters are rejected by society because they appear to be
unappealing and uneducated due to their low class status. In the book, Westley is originally known
as Farm Boy which indicates his status to be lower than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the class differences, the princesses want to be with the individual that proved to be
courageous and loyal in their time of saving. Princess Buttercup is forced to marry Prince
Humperdinck because he threatens to kill her if she does not go through with the marriage.
However once Princess Buttercup admits her feelings toward Westley in the beginning of the
book when she says, I love you. I know this must come as something of a surprise to you, since
all I ve ever done is scorn you and degrade you and taunt you, but I have loved you for several
hours now, and every second, more (Goldman,1987) Her true feelings for Westley are indicated
through this quote as she admits that even though she humiliates him, she is growing feelings
for him. However, Prince Humperdinck sees this as a rising conflict for his chance to marry
Princess Buttercup and evicts Westley leaving him close to death. Once Westley makes a
comeback and saves Princess Buttercup, they confess their love for one another. Similarly,
Princess Fiona also found what true love meant. As she waited to be rescued by a handsome
prince, she did not imagine her ideal rescuer to look like Shrek. However, she sees him as a warrior
and falls in love with him. In the movie, there is a scene

Successful Law Enforcement Agency Management
Rank does not confer privilege or give power. It imposes responsibility. (Peter Drucker) An
effective manager can be the difference between a successful law enforcement organization or its
failure. There are several theories on effective management in law enforcement and the business
world alike. Some of those theories can cross over and be helpful for a law enforcementmanager. A
manager can have the knowledge of all theory relative to law enforcement management, but without
understanding several key concepts, the manager will in turn not be effective. An effective law
enforcement manager is responsible for far more than just managing employees, unlike the business
world. Effective law enforcement managers decisions likely impact the safety of the citizens within
the jurisdiction, and that is the greatest responsibility. There are several components that will allow
a law enforcement manager to be effective. Out of those components there are three primaries that
are of upmost concern. Those three components are effective communication, organizational skills,
and empowerment. The number one component that will make a law enforcement manager
successful and in turn will make the agency successful is communication. Effective communication
is the most important element for any successful law enforcement agency. The law enforcement
manager must be able to successfully communicate his or her desires, wants, and goals throughout
the entire organization. Many people problems

Setting The Scene From Block Grant Based Funding
Setting the scene
Claire McCartney, research adviser at the CIPD and author of the report, comments: There seems
to be a real lack of awareness amongst senior managers, who rate the trust levels much stronger
than more junior employees. It seems they either have a tendency to view things through rose
tinted glasses, or are out of touch with how employees nearer the coalface are feeling. If senior
leaders are in denial or burying their heads in the sand, there is a danger that a them and us
mentality will emerge and change will be very difficult to achieve.
, and a transition from block grant based funding to student loan based funding of teaching has
taken place.
The past five years have been a time of significant fast paced change for Higher Education
Institutions (HEIs), with the higher education market being opened to new providers, the removal
of the Student Number Control cap and changes in student funding HEIs have needed to remain
agile and adaptable. (HEFCE, 2015)
With International students making a huge contribution to universities and the UK including
boosting the UK economy, HEIs are now required to compete in ever more challenging global
markets (HEFCE BIS grant letter 2015). HEIs recent successes have been and will continue to be
vital to the UKs future economic prospects as the country enters a period of growth. (HEFCE s

An Ethnographic Study On American Ethnic Identity
African Americans have been suffering a lot through continuous involvement in their lives and
activities since they were treated as slaves in the past. Today, prejudice against Black people is still
a complicated issue. In examining how people in a small group interpret and reinterpret their
identities, my thesis for this ethnographic study aims to illuminate how the ethnographic record
provides claims about African American ethnic identity in order to counter the impact of
discrimination.
I have figured out that attendant observation is beneficial to immerse myself into a community, in
order to gain a better information about the intricacies and inner psychology which could not be
obtained from literature or any other methods where information is simply provided. The selected
informant is known as a sample and is highly important for the research that characterizes an
ethnographic survey.
In addition, I will draw on my Profile essay where I interviewed one of my professors. The person
that I wrote about might be considered one of the most accurate model of how to deal with daily
experiences as an African American.
This essay is based on my personal experience at a Black Student Association. At this conference,
the speakers spoke about issues that African American deal with today. During the conference, I
was figuring out how much Black people have been going through from their daily activities. The
conference held by Black people gives me impression that I can never

The Hunt for Red October Essay
The Hunt for Red October
During the summer holidays I viewed an engaging video titled The hunt for Red October . The
film is based on a novel, written by Tom Clancy, which I am currently reading.
Captain Marco Ramius is portrayed by the actor Sir. Sean Connery (who is known for numerous
films including. James Bond and The Rock). The CIA writer, Dr. Jack Ryan, is portrayed by the
actor Alec Baldwin.
As the film begins the story line is suggested to be true, but denied by all officials. Here is an
overview of all of the main parts of the film from my point of view:

Did Frank Morris And The Anglin Brothers Survive To Escape...
I believe that criminals, Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers, survived their attempted escape from
Alcatraz. There are many facts supporting that they died, for example, the man eating sharks that
live in the ocean surrounding the prison. However, it s been proven that there are no man eating
sharks in the waters. In 1934, a teenage girl, 2 ten year old kids, and fitness expert, Jack Lalanne,
swam from Alcatraz to the mainland. Although there is the possibility of hypothermia and
drowning in the conditions they were in.This proves that the swim wouldn t be too life threatening,

No Matter How Loud I Shout
The book, No Matter How Loud I Shout, takes an in depth look at the juvenile court system in the
state of California in the 1990s. Through a colorful narrative story the author, Edward Humes,
paints of vivid picture of the how dysfunctional the system truly was. The main focus is on the
various ways the system has failed many of the juveniles that it is intended to help. Peggy
Beckstrand, the Deputy District Attorney, says it best The first thing you learn about this place, is
that nothing works. (No Matter How Loud I Shout, 1996, p.31)
The one beacon of hope the juvenile court has is Judge Roosevelt Dorn. Judge Dorn is known in the
court systems as one of the toughest judges. He was known for harsh sentences and often trying ...

When someone tells them to rob the local store there is no question or hesitation. It is the quickest
and easiest way to pay for the lifestyle they seek. These children know that their odds of slipping
through the cracks of the juvenile system are high. This only fuels their behavior and crime.
The case of George Trevino was an exceptional one in which his real family was no longer in the
picture, whether they were in prison or dead. He had nowhere else to turn but to foster care, and
at an early age. He was fortunate enough to stay with his brother for a few years, which most
children are not so lucky. His brother proved to be the worst type of influence, getting him into
trouble by running away and joining gangs. The main problem with foster care is that children are
often times shuffled around from home to home and have no stability in their lives. That combined
with the fact that most children are put into foster care even though they are beyond rehabilitation,
this makes them less likely to change once put into the program due to previous family, and gang
ties (Vito, 2004, p. 352).
By trying juveniles in the adult courts they are forcing them to accept a punishment that does not

Jungle Monkeys Essays
The monkeys of Rudyard Kipling s The Jungle Book are a very unique group of characters. They
are viewed by the other animals of the jungle, or the Jungle People as they call themselves, as
outcasts and outlaws. The most prominent chapter they occur in, Kaa s Hunting , shows their
lawless, shiftless, and uncivilized way of life. This image in itself does not give off any racist
undertone. However, Disney s adaption of The Jungle Bookcarries this view of the monkeys, while
also giving them strong attributes that are commonly associated with African Americans. In
Kipling s original version of The Jungle Book, the jungle monkeys make their first prominent
appearance in the chapter Kaa s Hunting . The young boy Mowgli speaks of the jungle... Show more

Disney s version of the book keeps the negative attitude towards the jungle monkeys presented in
the original story. However, it is in Disney s film adaptation that ties explicit attributes frequently
affiliated with African Americans to the Bandar Log. Like in the Kipling s original story, the
monkeys kidnap Mowgli and take him to their temple confines. One of the first differences
between the book and the movie is presented when Mowgli is introduced to the monkey leader
King Louie, whose voice acting is done by the jazz singer Louie Prima (The Jungle Book). As
previously mentioned, in the original story of The Jungle Book the monkey people are leader less.
The choice of Louis Prima as the voice actor for King Louie is a significant selection. Louis Prima
was a famous swing and jazz singer from New Orleans in the mid 20th century. Although Louie
Prima was Caucasian, the jazz and swing genre of music is predominantly considered an African
American art form. His musical style, which included a harsh, raspy voice and scat singing, was
greatly influenced by the famous African American jazz singer Louie Armstrong. Louie Prima
implements this musical style in King Louie s character as he even scats when he sings with
Baloo. King Louie also uses phrases usually found in African American Vernacular English, such
as I ll lay it on the line for ya, Cool it, and Craaaazy (The Jungle Book).

Grunge Fashion
Nothing screamed 90 s fashion more than chunky shoes, baggy jeans and mood rings. The 80 s
represented a time of outrageous fashion in a neon rainbow of colours, the 90 s however opted
towards the casual look. You would either go for a too care to care look known as grunge fashion
or a cute school girllook with some platform shoes. Need to State points and hypothesis
90s fashion for teenage girls was a mix of baggy and revealing. Some went for the grunge look and
others preferred the school girl look. The school girl look included a mini skirt, knee high socks
and of course a pair of platform shoes. Celebrities like Britney spears, the Spice Girls and Cher
from clueless were examples of the 90s school girl look. The grunge look was more unstructured
and loose and avoided any tight fitted clothing. The look consisted of a band tee, baggy ripped
jeans paired with a flannel and the more comfortable option of shoes a pair of doc martens.
Celebrities like Gwen Stefani, Drew Barrymore and Johnny Depp went for this look. Guys in
the 90 s all went for a just fell out of bed look also following the grunge fashion. It incorporated
baggy jeans, a flannel, greasy hair covered with a backwards cap and some combat boots. The

Fashion was truly globalized in the 1990s, as new technology like the internet and satellite

The Global War to the Great Depression
A horrific global war led to an equally heinous economic recession, triggering global fear and lack
of guidance. World leaders stood to the challenge of mending the shattered 100 year peace and
economy in Europe. America, it seemed, desired no part in this scramble for order, turning its back
to the international world. Through the Great War to the Great Depression, the transforming world
not only caused America to withdraw from the world, but also allowed Franklin Delano Roosevelt
an opportunity to refine all aspects of American standards and life. Despite only a brief
participation in the Great War, a diplomatically satiated America swiftly closed its doors to the
international world. However, this was not without good reason; according to Alan Brinkley, the
United Statesgovernment had appropriated $32 billion for expenses directly relating to the
conflict (621). At over 90% of the national gross domestic product at the time, war expenses were
an uncomfortable cost to American leaders who, in addition to the post WWI recession where
millions lost their jobs, decided America needed a break internationally (Brinkley 621 632). Not
only did America refuse to ratify the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations, they disarmed
military forces, severely limited immigration, and passed one of the highest tariffs in United States
history (Kennedy). As a result, the prosperous roaring twenties involved not only economic growth
and consumerism but also massive cultural

Michael Foucault s Different Forms of Power Essay
Michael Foucault s Different Forms of Power
Michael Foucault distinguishes between two different and distinct forms of power, disciplinary
and sovereign. Fouccault describes disciplinary power as the new type of power in the modern
civilization. The use of disciplinary power transpired in the 17th and 18th century, and it used
specific procedures such as distributing individuals into space, controls of activity, observation,
judging, and examination, to regulate the people. The first way to create discipline is to distribute
individuals in space. This space is usually analytical and physical. Discipline demands enclose, so
that you see everything that is going on. Inside of this enclosure there is a partitioning where each ...

We have something similar to this in gymnastics. We do and exhibition where everything need to
be perfectly times and everyone s movements in their tumbling needs to be the exact same. We
break down the movements of the back handsprings and backs flips and learn how to do the
special movements exactly the same as everyone else, so we look together. To be able to have our
exhibitions be successful we need constant monitoring to see if we are with the music and with
each other. The next step to achieving discipline is through observation. This gives you powerby
simply observing visually seeing what is going on. In this you are under constant surveillance.
By being put under this constant examination you are always being put to the test to see if you
measure up to set standards. An example of this is the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. You are
always under constant surveillance, even when you are not in uniform or performing. Even if
you are not wearing anything associated with the organization, and are out going to the local 7

look at how much you weigh. In the DCC you are weighed every week and you re not allowed to
gain more than five pounds or you will be dropped off the squad if you do not lose the extra
weight. This brings us to the next part of discipline, normalizing judgment. This is where you have

Overview of Neuroimagery Essay
Neuroimagery is a clinical speciality that produces images of the brain by using non invasive
techniques, i.e.: without requiring surgery, incision of the skin, or any direct contact with the inside
of the body. This type of imagery falls into two categories: Structural; this deals with the structure of
the brainand aids the diagnosis of diseases (e.g. brain tumours) and Functional; this is used for
neurological and cognitive research purposes, along with the diagnosis of metabolic diseases (e.g.
Alzheimer s and Parkinson s). Neuroimagery enables us to directly visualize the processing of
information by the centres of the brain. This processing causes the involved area of the brain to
increase metabolism and as a result highlight itself... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fMRI scan has played a major role in this type of research and it is on such that this essay will
be based.
Functional magnetic resonance imagery (fMRI) uses MRI technology to measure brain activity
by detecting relevant changes in blood flow. The process can also give us information on the
structure and function of the brain, unlike other processes which can only provide us with one
of these two. fMRI scanning relies on cerebral blood flow (CBF blood supply to the brain at a
given time) and neuronal activation are coupled meaning that when an area of the brain is in
use, the blood flow in that region increases. fMRI scans take pictures of the brain every few
seconds over a period of several minutes to help researchers determine results of a scan. While
fMRI scans cannot detect absolute activity of brain regions, it can detect differences between
different conditions. Therefore, a patient will be asked to perform tasks or will be stimulated to
trigger processes or emotions during their scan.
The primary form of an fMRI scan uses Blood Oxygen Level dependent (BOLD) contrast. This was
discovered by Seiji Ogawa in the 1990 s. This, according to Ogawa, is a very simple theory. He
claimed that Neurons do not have internal reserves of energy in the form of glucose and oxygen,
so their release causes a need for more energy to be brought in quickly. Blood then releases oxygen
to them (this process is known as the

Compare And Contrast King Poe Vs King
Poe vs King
When thinking of two short stories, The Man in the Black Suit and The Black Cat come to mind.
The narrators of both these stories include suspense and bring about the effects on their minds
throughout both stories. Evidently, there are many similarities and differences between them both.
Between both narrators, they share the same point of view. However, one narratorseems to be
angry while the other seems to be intimidated. The narrators of The Man in the Black Suit and
The Black Cat similarly have first person point of view, however King s key difference of not
being reliable results in suspense for that story.
Both narrators from the story share a similarity of having first person point of view. To clarify,
both narrators go through a hardship that they both tell throughout their story. Gary from The
Man in the Black Suit faces his hardship through seeing that He was wearing a black three piece
suit, and I knew right away that he was not a human being, because his eyes were the orangey
red of flames in a wood stove (King 5). Through this quote, readers can infer by the use of the
narrator s diction that he was intimidated by the man in the black suit. In addition, by the narrator
s choice of I , it meant that the narrator was by himself during this hardship. The fearful tone that
the narrator suggests helps contribute to the point of view used in the quote above. The structure
of the story for the narrator to be lonely throughout his hardship makes the theme (bad things
happen to good people) significant. Not to mention, during the story, the reader develops an
inference that the narrator may not make it out of the situation alive. Comparatively, the narrator
from The Black Cat has the same point of view as the narrator in The Man in the Black Suit. The
husband in The Black Cat seems to believe that he is alone until he meets this cat named Pluto
who genuinely loved him. The narrator faces a hardship when he says ...I knew that it had loved
me, and because I felt it had given me no reason of offence; hung it because I knew that in doing
so I was committing a sin... (Poe 2). Through this quote, readers can infer that the narrator had a
problem mentally and according to the

Essay on Herbert Hoover
Herbert Hoover
Herbert Hoover called it a noble experiment. Organized crime found it to be the opportunity of a
lifetime. Millions of Americans denounced it as an infringement of their rights. For nearly 14 years
from Jan. 29, 1920, until Dec. 5, 1933 the manufacture, transportation, and sale of alcoholic
beverages was illegal in the United States. The 18th, or Prohibition, Amendment to the Constitution
was passed by Congress and submitted to the states in 1917. By Jan. 29, 1919, it had been ratified.
Enforcement legislation entitled the National Prohibition Act (or more popularly, the Volstead act,
after Representative Andrew J. Volstead of Minnesota) was passed on Oct. 28, 1919, over
President Woodrow Wilsons veto.

Called the 15 gallon law, it prohibited the sale of alcohol in amounts of less than 15 gallons (57
liters). This limited the sale of alcohol to the wealthy. In 1846 Maine passed the first state
Prohibition law. By the mid 1850s 13 states had such laws, but by 1863 all except Maine had
repealed them.
Two major temperance organizations emerged in the decade after the Civil War. The National
Prohibition party was founded in 1869 and the Woman s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) in
1874. Partly through their efforts six states adopted Prohibition by 1890. The strongest force behind
the movement for national Prohibition, however, was the Anti Saloon League, founded in 1893.
Unlike the Prohibition party, it did not put up candidates for public office. Instead it worked for or
against Democratic and Republican candidates, depending on their attitude toward drinking. The
league was successful in getting 33 states to pass restrictive legislation by 1920.
Forces favoring Prohibition represented a reaction against changes that were taking place in the
United States. Rural and small town values were being challenged by rapidly industrializing cities.
Millions of new immigrants mostly Roman Catholics from Eastern and Southern Europe were
viewed as a threat by the Protestant majority. Prohibition was an attempt to reassert what were
considered traditional American values and to force newer members of the

Does everyone remember their very first animal? Remember the puppy s sweet and perfect eyes,
the kitten s soft and comforting meow , or perhaps even a hamster and their playful and enthusiastic

With each and every chemical related product produced, experimentation is required before being
released into stores; unfortunately, these tests are typically performed on blameless animals.
However, just because testing of a particular product on an animal results positive, does that

Why, because almost every American citizen is naive enough to believe that each product has
testing done (typically performed on animals) before being sold on the market, ordinarily for safety
purposes. However, what the general public fails to comprehend is that although specific types of
animals are nearly identical to human beings, there is always a cautious chance that the testing has
positive results on animals but conversely, the outcome may be significantly different for humans.
Recently, researchers warned that patients and physicians should remain cautious about
extrapolating the finding of prominent animal research to the care of human disease ... poor
replication of even high quality animal studies should be expected by those who conduct clinical
research (Animal Experiments: Overview). Diseases that are artificially forced upon animals in a
laboratory are under no circumstances identical to those that transpire naturally in human beings.
For example, cigarettes were formerly indicated as safe because it did no harm to animals whereas
cigarettes are typically known in today s generation to cause illnesses such as lung cancer. More
importantly, several researches to cure cancer and its questionable motives have been successfully
completed on mice although the solution has had no effect on the human body. Also, more than
eighty five HIV/AIDS vaccines have been prosperous in nonhuman archbishop studies, but as of

Buddhism Diane Morgan Analysis
Buddhism has many interesting aspects, but in this paper, I will be focusing on a passage from
Essential Buddhism by Diane Morgan, about karma. In her book, karma is defined as both action
and fruits of action (page 82). Karma is what Buddhist believes your life is shaped by whether it be
good or bad Karma. Especially when it comes to reincarnation, since, with good karma you are
believed to be reincarnated into better levels of life forms. For example an animal could become
a human man. On the other hand, bad karma will downgrade your reincarnation to a less desired
level. Karma seems to be independently driven as Morgan states in the passage that There is no

For the religion karma is karma and it affects all sentient beings (page 85). Since there is not an
immediate punishment to create good karmic seeds, there is a lack of motivation for people in
the faith to follow that way of thinking. Unless you are completely devoted to the face, a
common individual would lack the will to go to such extremes in hopes they might one day
become enlightened in another life. I believe that because humans tend to make inherently bad
choices, it is impossible for an average human being who is not able to just dedicate all thoughts
and time to the Buddhist practice to achieve enough good karmic seeds to accomplish nirvana.
Especially, since it is said that you will have no recollection of your past life, making it difficult
to correct your past wrongs, or know where your karmic standing lies besides saying an animal is a
lower karmic standing than a man. Without knowing how you can improve your karmic standing or
how let go of caring about your karmic standing, Buddhism creates its own impossibility to receive
enough good karma to achieve true

Standardized Tests Essay
Teachers spend time on the memorization of specific words that will be on the state test, not
vocabulary building exercises. Educators have pep rallies that take educational time away from
lesson plans and teaching in order to have the students learn cheers expressing how well they are
going to do on the state test. Excess teacher and administration time is spent figuring out game
plans, but not for teaching students, rather for figuring out how to increase test scores. Meanwhile,
when students are truly excited about exploring a topic in depth, they are shut down because there
is no time to learn, only time to memorize items that might be on these tests. Standardized tests

Many high school students do not even take these tests seriously because many of them are at the
same intellectual level as adults and realize that the tests are flawed. Still, they might not consider
that these flawed tests might lessen their chances of getting into college. Certainly, one could
envision a system of standardized tests where learning is at the center.
These tests are biased and prefer certain groups over others, making them unfair and denying equal
opportunity for education. Minority and low income students are affected far more than middle
class, majority students. In fact, if the government persists in making a student s graduation rest
on a single test, the result over the next few years could be a scenario that might be described as
an educational ethnic cleansing (Kohn, 2000). It is unfair to base a school s funding on these tests
when clearly any underperforming schools would benefit greater from an increase of resources as
opposed to schools that perform at a higher level. Every year 1.2 million students fail to graduate
from high school based on their test scores and therefore, cost the Nation more than $3.1 million in
lost wages, taxes, and productivity over their lifetimes (Congress, 2011). It has taken some time for
educators and parents to realize that the idiom of standards is turning schools into test prep centers,
effectively undermining enthusiasm for learning and teaching.

focuses on how Pritchard (a typical taxpayer) wants to get on the spaceship to Mars. The
purpose of this short chapter is to provide foreshadowing to both the atomic war and civilian
immigration to Mars. The reason why this chapter was written is that during 1950 (when this
book was written), Ray Bradbury wanted to voice his opinion that the construction of atomic
bombs will lead to war. Pritchard says, Wasn t he born right here in Ohio? Wasn t he a good

Thomas Aquina s vs. Descarates Essays

proofs of the First Mover. Aquinas says that anything moved is moved by another, so there must
be a first mover (a mover that is not itself moved by another) and that first mover is God. Both of
the philosophers used great methods to come to their conclusion about how god came into

did come to the conclusion that God does exist . I believe the key difference about the two

Schlosser employs anecdotes in order to evoke emotion from his readers to achieve his purpose.
One anecdote the author includes is the story of Alex Donley, a six year old boy. Alex Donley
ate a tainted hamburger from Jack in the box that led him to become infected with E. coli
0157:H7 (Schlosser 200). This disease obliterated his entire body and progressed rapidly. Alex
died within five days. The author uses anecdotes such as Alex s to evoke sympathy and fear
from his readers, especially parents with young children. The stories make parents and anyone
who buys fast food reconsider what they are putting in their bodies for if a young boy can die
from a simple burger, then what s to prevent others, kids, or even one s self from becoming the
next victim in the vicious industry that is fast food? The use of anecdotes ultimately helps the
author unveil the beast that is the fast food industry by pulling on the heartstrings of Americans.
The author displays the harsh actuality of the fast food industry through the use of ethos. Schlosser
s writing in Fast Food Nation is from a first person point of view for the most part due to the fact

Deprivation Essay
Research into Privation and Deprivation
Deprivation is when you have had something taken away from you. E.g. food. When we talk about
attachments, deprivation is the loss of an attachment figure. When an infant has had an attachment
and it has been broken. There is research done into deprivation by Bowlby. This is his Maternal
deprivation hypothesis, which stated the belief that if an infant was unable to build a warm,

Bowlby s hypothesis did not suggest that the relationship had to be with the mother. He believed s
child needed to form a relationship with a primary caregiver however did not necessarily need to
be the mother. The key aim for his hypothesis was to identify the importance of emotional care in
healthy development.
Privation is when an attachment had never been formed. The lack of emotional care can possibly
result in no attachment being formed. It can also result in permanent harm to the infants social and
emotional development. The study conducted by Hodges and Tizard (1989) was of ex institutional
children. He aimed to see effects of children who had suffered early privation. He also wanted to
test Bowlby s Maternal deprivation (or privation) hypothesis. In this research they took out a
longitudinal study. They studied 65 children which were placed in an institution when less than
four months, which had all experienced early privation. By 4 years old, 24 children had been
adopted, 15 returned to their natural homes and the rest remained in the institution. It was found
that the adopted children had closer attachments to their parents and had good family relationships
and this was not the case for the restored children.

Camargo became famous and every young dancer in the world wanted to go to the same dance company so that they could share in her fame. The company would not let any new dancers in who were taller than their star performer. As girls reached five feet five their dreams would be smashed at the realization that they would never have Camargo s figure. This new dancer also redefined the shape of the classical ballet dancer. Before her debut on the stage the ballet dancers were not traditionally small, but due to her popularity, the new figure became mandatory to succeed in the world of ballet. Teachers must provide endless and ongoing opportunities for their student to read, write, listen, and speak. There are many components that make up literacy. In order to effectively teach students these components the teacher must model the concept for the students. As teachers, we can t expect or assume that the student already knows what we expect of them. Modeling gives students a basis of what to go by. On January 2010, my family gets off the plane at Logan airport Boston. Walking through the tunnel, I could feel the chilly cold weather, is was the first time ever that I got to experience it. In Anaheim, the weather is usually dry, humid, and hot, sometimes it could hit up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. • 9. Life Poem Analysis The author Paul Laurence Dunbar wants the readers to acknowledge how he uses concrete and abstract in his poem called Life . Throughout his poem he uses concrete to make us feel how sadness takes over happiness most of the time, another strategy the author uses is abstract he uses it in a deep matter, he makes you think something that isn t normal that you can t visualize, he uses it a lot but also combines it with concrete as well. As a matter a fact this connects with something about my personal point of view so far because I also feel that I can t enjoy life as much as I would want but there s always another bad side and it s the problems that make you fall in depression and other stuff that has to do with sadness. However in the poem Life the writer expresses his poem by using concrete and abstract images, he tells us how life is too ironic to fully understand how you truly feel, but in his perspective sadness lasts more than being happy as well. In other words the author uses concrete to express how in the poem Life you can feel sadness and can imagine it, during the poem he mentioned with a smile to warm and the tears to refresh us this was an example of concrete when the author said a smile to warm you can actually feel a smile you can actually feel when you re warm, it also goes with the same thing when it says and the tears to refresh us you can feel when you cry also feel the tears like it s refreshing your face as saying happiness gets erased by the tears when you re getting refreshed. Another well done example the author used is when he said in his poem A pintof joy to a peck of trouble the author basically just mentioned how a pint of joy goes by so fast and when trouble comes, it comes in a matter of seconds and sometimes it can happen keep happening instantly, therefore it s concrete because you can feel the pint of joy where you actually feel the happiness but then he said peck means your conflicts start showing up rapidly. Additionally, he used the same strategy when author said And never a laugh, but the moans come double; this one is pretty straightforward when he said And never a laugh you know when you laugh you feel the happiness. However, if you laugh it s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Relationship between China-Japan, China-Australia and... In this section I will be detailing and comparing the relationships between China Japan, China Australia, and China Venezuela. I am first going to start with the relationship between China and Japan. I will begin with the time frame between the years of 1949 1969. During this time, China sees Japan as a threat, which is not surprising because of Japan s assault against China in the 1890s to 1920s, Japans brutal occupation of China in the 1930s and 1940s and Japan s role in America s containment strategy against China. China counters Japan by forming a military alliance with the Soviet Union in 1950. This alliance was indirectly directed at the United Statesbut primarily directed against Japan. China tried to encourage Japan to have better relations by playing upon Japanese war guilt and issues of Japanese behavior in the 1930s and 40s. This didn t work in the political dimension of the relationship. China felt that better relations with Japan would be useful, both politically and economically. But Japan would not normalize relations because of its close relationship with the United States and the nationalists. On the economic front, things were different, as trade started to grow. The countries are so close to one another that it made sense. Meanwhile, Japan is still recovering from the war, but is recovering rapidly and becomes an important potential partner for China. Paper 228.797 Project Report on Energy Harvesting and Efficient Hardware Design considerations for Wireless Sensor nodes Prepared by: Mukesh MishraDate: 21/03/2016 1.Introduction A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is comprised of multiple tiny devices called nodes or motes. These are distributed spatially in an environment to monitor sense and compute data wirelessly. The role of a sensor node is to evaluate different tasks. First, a node has to sense physical conditions and exchange the information with other nodes after computation. Second, it plays the important role of being a relay for different sensor nodes [1],[2],[3],[4]. These nodes can mount anywhere in the environment [2]. With recent advancements in the field of electronics these devices are becoming cheaper and smaller and are being employed in both indoor and outdoor environments. Applications include agricultural monitoring, household and military surveillance, industrial automation and robotics, and healthcare [3]. A sensor node, shown in Figure.1 is a low power device and consists of five different components namely [5], [12] (i)Sensing unit: comprises of two sub units: sensors and analog to digital converter (ADC). • 12. Persuasive Essay About Teen Pregnancy Teen pregnancy......what comes in mind when you hear the words Teen Pregnancy ? Well, teen pregnancy are young female girls that become pregnant under the age of 20. A female can become pregnant from having sexual intercourse and after she have started to ovulate. Young female girls will become pregnant without even thinking about the consequences and the type of environment the baby will be in. Not because the young mother is poor or rich, but because they re not ready to take care of another human being. Not to mention, pregnant teens are young themselves, so their also growing. There are plenty of problems that are the cause of teen pregnancy, and many of those problems can be solved. One reason for teen pregnancy is the lack of information that is given to students in middle and high school about sex and how to prevent it from happening. Also, the lack amount of talks from parents that they can give to their teen. I wouldn t say there isn t any education given out to students about sex, but there isn t ENOUGH to make pre teens and teens to fully understand and have the right mind set about sex. Many schools won t really focus on the topic about teen pregnancy because it really doesn t have much about academics and that s really understandable, but at the end of the day teens are also human and do make mistakes. I believe schools should give education about teen pregnancy as much as the other subjects. The topic of teen pregnancy shouldn t be left out because talking to your teen about sex can definitely influence their lifestyle. Many teens would learn about sex in the streets which it totally horrible because 9/10, the streets will educate them to have sex rather than not to. The solution to this problem is that parents and schools should educate their teens/students with more education about teen pregnancy, so that the number pregnant teens can decrease in near future. Another reason for teen pregnancy is social media. Social media can have a huge impact on how teens can view their lives by influencing them with a different kind of lifestyle. Not to mention, teens can easily be brainwashed by what they see on there and think what they see on social media is good, is actually wrong. Social media will have ... (Peter Drucker) An effective manager can be the difference between a successful law enforcement organization or its failure. There are several theories on effective management in law enforcement and the business world alike. Some of those theories can cross over and be helpful for a law enforcementmanager. A manager can have the knowledge of all theory relative to law enforcement management, but without understanding several key concepts, the manager will in turn not be effective. An effective law enforcement manager is responsible for far more than just managing employees, unlike the business world. Effective law enforcement managers decisions likely impact the safety of the citizens within the jurisdiction, and that is the greatest responsibility. There are several components that will allow a law enforcement manager to be effective. Out of those components there are three primaries that are of upmost concern. Those three components are effective communication, organizational skills, and empowerment. The number one component that will make a law enforcement manager successful and in turn will make the agency successful is communication. Through the Great War to the Great Depression, the transforming world not only caused America to withdraw from the world, but also allowed Franklin Delano Roosevelt an opportunity to refine all aspects of American standards and life. Despite only a brief participation in the Great War, a diplomatically satiated America swiftly closed its doors to the international world. However, this was not without good reason; according to Alan Brinkley, the United Statesgovernment had appropriated $32 billion for expenses directly relating to the conflict (621). At over 90% of the national gross domestic product at the time, war expenses were an uncomfortable cost to American leaders who, in addition to the post WWI recession where millions lost their jobs, decided America needed a break internationally (Brinkley 621 632). Not only did America refuse to ratify the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations, they disarmed military forces, severely limited immigration, and passed one of the highest tariffs in United States history (Kennedy). As a result, the prosperous roaring twenties involved not only economic growth and consumerism but also massive cultural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Michael Foucault s Different Forms of Power Essay Michael Foucault s Different Forms of Power Michael Foucault distinguishes between two different and distinct forms of power, disciplinary and sovereign. Fouccault describes disciplinary power as the new type of power in the modern civilization. The use of disciplinary power transpired in the 17th and 18th century, and it used specific procedures such as distributing individuals into space, controls of activity, observation, judging, and examination, to regulate the people. The first way to create discipline is to distribute individuals in space. This space is usually analytical and physical. Discipline demands enclose, so that you see everything that is going on. To be able to have our exhibitions be successful we need constant monitoring to see if we are with the music and with each other. The next step to achieving discipline is through observation. This gives you powerby simply observing visually seeing what is going on. In this you are under constant surveillance. By being put under this constant examination you are always being put to the test to see if you measure up to set standards. An example of this is the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Overview of Neuroimagery Essay Neuroimagery is a clinical speciality that produces images of the brain by using non invasive techniques, i.e.: without requiring surgery, incision of the skin, or any direct contact with the inside of the body. This type of imagery falls into two categories: Structural; this deals with the structure of the brainand aids the diagnosis of diseases (e.g. brain tumours) and Functional; this is used for neurological and cognitive research purposes, along with the diagnosis of metabolic diseases (e.g. Alzheimer s and Parkinson s). Neuroimagery enables us to directly visualize the processing of information by the centres of the brain. The fMRI scan has played a major role in this type of research and it is on such that this essay will be based. Functional magnetic resonance imagery (fMRI) uses MRI technology to measure brain activity by detecting relevant changes in blood flow. The process can also give us information on the structure and function of the brain, unlike other processes which can only provide us with one of these two. fMRI scanning relies on cerebral blood flow (CBF blood supply to the brain at a given time) and neuronal activation are coupled meaning that when an area of the brain is in use, the blood flow in that region increases. fMRI scans take pictures of the brain every few seconds over a period of several minutes to help researchers determine results of a scan. While fMRI scans cannot detect absolute activity of brain regions, it can detect differences between different conditions. Therefore, a patient will be asked to perform tasks or will be stimulated to trigger processes or emotions during their scan. The primary form of an fMRI scan uses Blood Oxygen Level dependent (BOLD) contrast. This was discovered by Seiji Ogawa in the 1990 s. This, according to Ogawa, is a very simple theory. He claimed that Neurons do not have internal reserves of energy in the form of glucose and oxygen, so their release causes a need for more energy to be brought in quickly. Blood then releases oxygen to them (this process is known as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Compare And Contrast King Poe Vs King Poe vs King When thinking of two short stories, The Man in the Black Suit and The Black Cat come to mind. The narrators of both these stories include suspense and bring about the effects on their minds throughout both stories. Evidently, there are many similarities and differences between them both. Between both narrators, they share the same point of view. However, one narratorseems to be angry while the other seems to be intimidated. The narrators of The Man in the Black Suit and The Black Cat similarly have first person point of view, however King s key difference of not being reliable results in suspense for that story. Both narrators from the story share a similarity of having first person point of view. To clarify, both narrators go through a hardship that they both tell throughout their story. Gary from The Man in the Black Suit faces his hardship through seeing that He was wearing a black three piece suit, and I knew right away that he was not a human being, because his eyes were the orangey red of flames in a wood stove (King 5). Through this quote, readers can infer by the use of the narrator s diction that he was intimidated by the man in the black suit. In addition, by the narrator s choice of I , it meant that the narrator was by himself during this hardship. The fearful tone that the narrator suggests helps contribute to the point of view used in the quote above. The structure of the story for the narrator to be lonely throughout his hardship makes the theme (bad things happen to good people) significant. Not to mention, during the story, the reader develops an inference that the narrator may not make it out of the situation alive. Comparatively, the narrator from The Black Cat has the same point of view as the narrator in The Man in the Black Suit. The husband in The Black Cat seems to believe that he is alone until he meets this cat named Pluto who genuinely loved him. The narrator faces a hardship when he says ...I knew that it had loved me, and because I felt it had given me no reason of offence; hung it because I knew that in doing so I was committing a sin... (Poe 2). Through this quote, readers can infer that the narrator had a problem mentally and according to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Especially when it comes to reincarnation, since, with good karma you are believed to be reincarnated into better levels of life forms. For example an animal could become a human man. These tests are biased and prefer certain groups over others, making them unfair and denying equal opportunity for education. Minority and low income students are affected far more than middle class, majority students. In fact, if the government persists in making a student s graduation rest on a single test, the result over the next few years could be a scenario that might be described as an educational ethnic cleansing (Kohn, 2000). The reason why this chapter was written is that during 1950 (when this book was written), Ray Bradbury wanted to voice his opinion that the construction of atomic bombs will lead to war.
