Diction In Lord Of The Flies
Bella Itnyre Ms. Tantlinger Honors English 10 2 January 2018 War Leads to Destruction In
William Golding s novel, Lord of the Flies, a group of young British boys fight for their survival
after a plane crash. The longer the boys are stranded on the island, the more of their humanity
they lose. They decide to split into two seperate groups, not help each other, and instead fight it
out. The boys began to become more self centered and only worried about their own survival.
The more self centered the boys become, the more savage they become. Golding s diction shows
that when war breaks out and humans become careless, the destruction of rules leads to the
destruction of humanity. The choice of diction used when the boys go on a sow hunt, it shows
how destructive the boys have become. Golding s diction is rape like when he states, Here,
struck down by the heat, the sow fell and the hunters hurled themselves at her. This dreadful
eruption from an unknown world made her frantic; she squealed and buckled and the air was
full of sweat and noise and blood and terror (Golding 135). The word hurled implies that the boys
aggressively ran at the sow and landed on her in order to hurt the sow. The sow buckled which
shows that she tried to resist what the boys were doing to her. The sow squealed when the boys
put her through the pain. Golding also writes, Jack was on top of the sow, stabbing downward with
his knife (Golding 135). Golding states that Jack grabbed Maurice and

Vineland Adaptive Behavior Analysis
Scott is a 6 year old student who is currently in 1st grade. He has several behaviors that has been
identified by both his parents and classroom teachers. Some of his most noted behaviors has been
aggression, depression, lack of attention, and withdrawal. He shows aggression by breaking
objects, and physically attacking other students as well as staff members. He shows signs of
depression when he screams and becomes easily frustrated. Scotts has trouble with attending
because he often become distracted as noted. Scotts hyperactivity becomes evident as he screams
out and shows very little control over himself or emotions and interrupts adults when he is excited.
Finally, Scott displays the coping mechanism of withdrawal by avoiding activities... Show more

I believe that utilizing the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Assessment will provide a clearer picture
of Scott. The Vineland test would be the most appropriate test to give Scott because the Vineland
test is used to measure personal and social skills from birth to adulthood (Manohari, Raman,
Ashok, 2013). It is important to note that Scott is in 1st grade and there is very limited academic
pattern for him. Taking this assessment will allow teachers and parents to obtain a greater
interpretation of Scott. The assessed adaptive behavior done by Vineland is communication, living
skills, socialization, and motor. According to the case study these are also the domains in which
the parents and teachers have concerns. Because there is a family history of ADHD Vineland
remains an appropriate choice of assessment because it addresses intellectual and developmental
disabilities as well as autism spectrum disorder and ADHD. Vineland also provides educational and
treatment plans (Manohari, Raman, Ashok, 2013). Therefore, it is necessary that all aspects of a
student development are looked at in order to make a n appropriate diagnosis. This includes
language, social skills, attention, behavior, mood, academic skills, social skills, play skills and
motor skills (Manohari, Raman, Ashok, 2013). Having a thorough assessment allows for all areas
of development to be addressed to obtain a clear picture of the student. Because Scott sensory
processing is a concern these difficulties interfere with his participation in classroom activities,
interaction with peers and staff, emotional and behavioral control and attending

Fidget Spinner Research Paper
Are a type of fidgeting toy hence the name fidget spinner. It is advertised as helping people who
continuously fidget, but Experts were divided on this claim. Seeing as it seems to be a distraction
at schools I believe it is false. They were invented way back in the 1990 s yet now in 2017 they
became a HUGE hit. Resulting with most schools banning these spinners, while others made them
only for people with medical conditions. Some may even not have rules on them. This interesting
google search rates chart (to the left) shows searches for fidget spinners rising from 0 100 in just 6
days and 5 months.
Some schools reported that students were trading and selling them. The Boston globe interviewed a

Mckenzie Falls Gorge Trail Case Study
The Mckenzie Falls Gorge Trail won the AILA Landscape Architecture Design Award and the
People s choice award in 2014. About 250 Km west of Melbourne, the volcanic plains of Victoria
s Western district hosts a geologically significant area called the Grampians National Park. The
Grampians National Park is an unprotected bushland well known among hikers and rock climbers.
The Mckenzie Falls is one of Victorias largest falls and is the site to the reconstructed Mckenzie
Falls Gorge Trail by Hansen Partnership and Parks Victoria.
A major bushfire ruined about 50 percent of the park in 2006, followed five years later by a flood
that damaged a significant amount of the park s infrastructure, particularly along the Mackenzie
River. The floods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parks Victoria did not dictate a rigid brief but instead asked Hansen Partnership to create a unique
experience for the visitors. (Ricardo, 2014)
ACCESS
There was very little existing site material available, the designers documented the site walking
and mapped the area from scratch to propose possible path alignments along the way. Rather than
crossing the river below the falls and leading up to the ridge line as it did before, the path would
take visitors through the base of the valley, as close to the river as possible. (Ricardo, 2014)
To minimalize the linearity of the project heavier and more visually dominant elements were
discarded. Thus the presence of the trail is not always constant and it blends in with the
surroundings. The bridges and the elevated walkways meander through a cool microclimate
created by a field of fallen rocks lying next to an escarpment wall.
We wanted the bridge to follow the escarpment wall and gave instruction to make sure the rock wall
was always within arm s length. explains Anton Malishev, senior landscape architect at Hansen
Partnership. The shape of the bridge thus is not

Inventory And Inventory Control System
INTRODUCTION:
The more inventory a company has... the less likely they will have what they need. Taichi Ohno
What is Inventory?
Inventory is considered to be the raw materials, work in process goods or completely finished
goods that are a portion of a business s assets that are ready for use or will be ready for sale to
customers.
Possessing huge amount of inventory for longer period of time is not considered to be usually
good for a business because of inventory storage, obsolescence and spoilage costs. On the other
hand, we also need to consider that possessing too little inventory isn t good either, because the
business runs the risk of losing out on potential sales and potential market shares. (1)
In any organization, Inventory Management is a very important concept that is been followed and
there is a dedicated team that looks after the planning, scheduling and flow of inventory. Typically
there are two standard inventory control systems that are followed within organizations for
effective Inventory Management:
Push System: The main ideology of push inventory control systems is forecasting inventory needs
to satisfy customer demands. Here, companies should make a prediction as to which product the
customers would purchase and also determine the quantity of products that will be purchased.
Everything in a push system is decided on basis of a prediction and forecasting and that is the
major flaw in the system. These forecasts are often inaccurate as well as

Analysis Of Detroit, The Motor City
Detroit, the motor city, known by many for cars and to others for being the murder capital of the
world. This has caused many people to stop visiting and exclude Detroit from being a place of
interest. I have lived here all my life, and yes it has had its rough times but lately Detroit has been
improving drastically. The causes of the city to improve were to make people already living here
feel safer. Moreover, to change our illustration as one of the most dangerous cities. In addition to
this we want people to start visiting again and to see the metamorphosis that has struck our city.
Many recent changes brought to our city have been architectural, criminal rates precipitating and
film making. The city as a whole has been working diligently to improve and keep improving.
Although we face economical issues, dealing with the bankruptcy has been priority to many. By
analyzing Detroitthese past few years there has been major change everywhere that has brought a
positive effect to our atmosphere. In recent years, Detroit has pulverized much of its violence
within the city. It has been working with state police and county sheriffs to ensure that people
who live here are safer. The city is slowly but surely revitalizing and becoming a place of interest
to many. Moreover personal experiences have made me see this. A few years back I would hardly
see any police cars patrolling neighborhoods but now I see many always patrolling in southwest
Detroit. This has had a positive effect

Chosen topic: Landscapes R Us
Introduction
This situation analysis is based on the Landscapes r us business. In this report we will cover the
following, assessment of the uncontrollable environment (PESTL forces), a SWOT analysis, the
target market and a customer and client analysis,
Uncontrollable environment, PESTL
Political forces
Landscapes r us, are faced by several political forces that may influence the amount of work and
the way business will operate. There is a trend of new suburbs being divided into smaller blocks
then older suburbs. In the 1950 s the average block size was 810sqm 910 sq m, and block
divided in 2012 average between 200 350 sq m (MacroBusiness, 2014)(Hall, 2011). Therefore,
each successful tender in new suburbs isn t as profitable as before, because there is less work
required on each block. Because there are a greater number of blocks it creates a large number of
opportunities to win quotes. When there are more quotes in an area it will attract more businesses
competition.

The announcement of the current federal budget by the Abbot government is driving the message
of cutting Australia s debt. There are threats of lots of job cuts especially in Canberra where the

Primal Leadership Review Essay
Primal Leadership:
Realizing the Power of Emotional Intelligence

Publisher: Harvard Business School Press
Reviewer: Michael L Schwartz
General Opinions:
This book, when you cut to the heart of the matter, talks about leaders involving people, making
people feel good about themselves and what they do.
Much of the book discusses why this is true by explaining how the brain operates. There is
discussion how neurotransmitters work and how neural chemical reactions occur in the brain.
These explanations are done in lay terms so that anyone can understand them.
There are also examples given of how this has worked. And some examples are given where, due to
lack of proper implementation, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whole concept of how one person s mental state can influence all those around them was very
interesting to me. Along with that how the four EI domains (Self Awareness, Self Management,
Social Awareness, and Relationship Management) are learned abilities.
For much of my life I thought that these were attributes that you either had or did not have, or
that if they were learned at all it was while you were very young and you were then set for life . I
was glad to read that research shows that these attributes can be learned later in life, that it just takes
more time and more effort.
So, the concept, noted above, that the brain can be reprogrammed to operate differently than it
had been trained to operate was very eye opening to me. That we are not hard wired from birth is
very meaningful to me. It tells me that I can continue to grow as a person and improve myself in
how I deal with others. If I only continue long enough I can and will improve all four areas of EI,
but for me, most importantly Relationship
Management.
Another important concept, for me, was that the brain can grow new cells. This indicates that
decline in mental capacities, as we age, is not necessarily inevitable. It also means that we can
develop new skills as we age. With people living and working longer, it s good to know that we can
continue to remain (mentally) active and productive. While
I m not (yet) what most people would consider old, I know people who have stopped exercising, and

Creating Two Bad Behavior Of Case And Disease Management...
UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, SYDNEY
FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND IT
31266 Introduction to Information Systems
Autumn 2015
Assignment I
1.Create TWO bad behaviour of Case and Disease Management systems scenarios and explain each
in detail?
The Encyclopaedia of Business, 2nd Edition on the Reference for Business website describes a role
of a management information system as a computer system that provides management and other
personnel within an organisation with up to date information (Management Information Systems,
para 4). A bad behaviour scenario is when this system does not meet the intended requirements and
leaves the business less efficient and the customers dissatisfied.
First scenario: A patient suffers from heart disease. Their medical consultation history such as
appointments and follow up care is taken care of by the case management system and the progress
of their heart disease in managed by the disease management system. The patient moves houses and
thus has a change in address, however this change, due to poor management, has only been
recorded in the disease management system and thus the old address is still active in the case
management system. Confidential health reports are sent to the wrong address due to the incorrect
information in the case management system, unknown to the hospital. This compromises the patient
s medical privacy and also inconveniences them as they are not receiving their own personal health
reports by mail. Second scenario: A

Over the course of Tom Robinson s trial, Mayella s state of mind shifts from anxious and
nervous to distress and panic due the aspects of guilt and fear. When Mayella is called to the
witness stand, and asked to provide her testimony, she is very uneasy, uncertain and hesitant
towards her claims. As the questions grow more specific and complex, Mayella has a difficult
time answering and struggles with providing the truth. The jury calls nineteen year old Mayella
Ewell to the witness stand to provide evidence regarding the charge of Tom Robinson. Mayella is
claimed to be a victim of the sexual harassment and is here to testify her side of the situation,
either confirming, or denying it. When Mr. Gilmer tells Mayella to describe the events of the

When Judge Taylor tries to calm her down, she points to Atticus and tells the jury that she is afraid

regards to speaking up about this assumed crime. The fact that she began to cry due to feartowards
Atticus demonstrates that she has something to hide her guilt, and her shame. The gavel

The Expansion Of The Frontier And The Relationship Among...
Unforgiven and Stagecoach
The film Stagecoach incorporated the expansion of the frontier and the relationship among the
Native Americans. The film starts with a wide view of an open valley to show the vast plain and the
open frontier, introducing and getting an idea of the setting. The movie was interesting in the sense
that it had more social commentary than most films. An article was written by Thomas Myers
explaining the film and the unique social commentary of the film Stagecoach by stating, it depicted
a sub community of individuals each representing a distinct social status in western history, and that
this clash of classes and misfit characters provide a perfect set up for social commentary about
diverse societies. The western hero possesses a sense of resilience that allows him to outsmart a
group of outlaws.
In earlier western films, Native Americans were viewed as savages and ethnic groups were
viewed as ignorant due to the lack of political correctness. Like most early western films, violence
was utilized in place of punishment for bad men, and as Thomas Myers said in his article about the
comparison of western films, was a means for restoring order to the community. African Americans
were not added to the cast of characters in Stagecoach, but during the early expansion of the western
frontier, there were African Americancowboys and other settlers that came from many ethnic
groups. Another example of ignorance expressed in minority groups is the portrayal

John Stewart Mill s The Subjection Of Women
In chapter III of The Subjection of Women, John Stewart Mill contends with the claims that women
are unfit to hold public office, due to their mental weakness, nervous energy, and their inability to
focus on singular problems. He also refutes the claim that women are inherently unequal because
they have not had the same successes as men in various fields. In Chapter IV, Mill lays out his
arguments for why granting women more freedom would be beneficial in that it would increase
utility. He begins by asserting that child rearing, in his time, bolsters injustice, and has a negative
impact on the character of men. He then argues that women s equality would double the mental
faculties of society. He further argues that women who are uneducated have a bad influence upon
men, and that increasing women s liberty would have a betterimpact on society as a whole. Finally,
he argues that further genderequality would allow women to understand when sacrifices need be
made for the betterment of society. Mill s arguments are sound, however he misses opportunities to
strengthen his claims. This essay concludes with some additional arguments that Mill could have
added to increase the effectiveness of his arguments.
In Chapter III of The Subjection of Women, Mill addresses and criticizes arguments that have
claimed that women are inferior to men. The first argument he addresses is that women are unfit to
hold public because they are mentally inferior. To argue against this idea, Mill

Nursing theories have also made their influence on patient care and outcome. The theory I have
chosen to treat in this paper is Roy s adaptation Model. The Roy s model is about adaptation. It has
four key concepts, the person, health, environment and nursing. The Roy s adaptation model states
a person is a bio psych social being in constant interaction with a changing environment. The
adaptation has two subsystems. First the cognator subsystem which is a major coping process
involving four cognitive emotive channels: perceptual and information processing, learning,
judgment, and emotion. And secondly the regulator subsystem which is a basic type of adaptive
process that responds automatically through neural, chemical, and endocrine coping channels.
ANALYSIS OF NURSING THEORY Nursing theories have been a major contributor to nursing
education, it has helped create a focus. Nursing theories have also helped healthcare professional,
managers and patients make unique contributions to health care. According to Im, E. Chang, S.J.

The New Jersey police became heavily involved in a battle over the jurisdiction of the case. Another
questionable problem with the evidence was that the child was pinned into his crib so that he
wouldn t move at night and somehow, when the child was abducted, whomever took him, didn t
move the pins or even touch the pins to get him out of the bed. There were no fingerprints on the
ladder, not even where the person that made the ladder would have left fingerprints, showing that
everything had been wiped clean. Then there was the ransom note that was written with grave
misspellings and horrible Germanic construction. The next question involved is with the courts, the
adjudication, arraignment and the preliminary hearing. Throughout all of the investigations, they
came down with one principle suspect. A Bronx carpenter by the name of Bruno Richard
Hauptmann. He passed a $10 gold certificate at a gas station from the ransom money and this led to
his subsequent arrest, trial and finally the death penalty. Ultimately, the police found about $14,000
or more of the ransom money at the suspect s home. In newspapers, the case appeared open and

Differences Between Micro Economics And Macroeconomics
This report will reveal information about differences between Micro Economics and Macro
Economics and the interrelation of them with regard to the drafting of economic policies to remain
economically current and relevant with global competitive markets. Moreover, it contains
explanation of the minimum efficient scale and clarification how firms and companies can

Holy And Beloved Research Paper
Holy Beloved:
There are more blessings in praise and worship than just praying all day for our needs.
The hours that we spent in prayer asking from God, if such is spent in praise and worshipping
chances are we will stand a better chance of receiving from our Heavenly Father.
Praise and worship can be defined as giving God the gratitude for what He has done, what He is
currently doing, and what He will do in our lives.
In the atmosphere of praise and worship, the Holy Spirit abounds. Chains and shackles are broken,
and blessings move around.

The Managerial Functions Of Management
An organisation needs managers to be able to accomplish its goals. They contribute to
organisational value, its financial performance, and productivity by the efficiency and
effectiveness of managerial tasks (Robbins, Bergman, Stagg, Coulter, 2012). The purpose of this
paper is to justify why we need managers in the organisation and how they become so influential to
its performance and the employee s job satisfaction through their functions, roles and skills.
Basically, managers are classified to hierarchical levels, so that they perform differently by
functions, managerial roles and skills they need to have. This essay will start by explaining why
managers are important in the organisation, and afterwards briefly discussing the... Show more

However, globalisation also affects the manager s awareness due to organisational value in
comparison with cross national business partners (Gentry Sparks, 2012). Likewise, the importance
of managers consists of their functions, roles and skills, which they need to perform efficiently. In
1949, Fayol (as cited in Lamond, 2003) identified a theory through surveys that there are five
functions of managers, which are planning, organising, commanding, coordinating and controlling.
Planning is a process which managers are necessarily good at intrapersonal and interpersonal
competencies, as it is related to handle and encourage people with all the obligations required to be
able to make preparations and aim for optimum outcomes rather than minimum exposure. It is
basically the function of all level of managers, but dominated by top managers because they make
long term plans instead of short term plans, which are made by middle and first level managers.
Afterwards, organising means building up the undertaking material and human organisation. This
includes having an adequate knowledge to find essential work force and put each where he/she can
do the most effective duties. So, this is the function of top managers because they are the one who
have authorities to do that. The next function is to command. Commanding is suggested as an
initiation to set organized employees who are fully motivated and work together in a

Philippines has a rapidly growing population with a large increase of young people starting to
become a part of the working class (15 to 60 years of age), resulting in not enough jobs for these
people resulting in unemployment, temporary emigration or permanent emigration. The
Philippines has been lagging behind its neighboring countries such as the People s Republic of
China, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam both economically and in public education for the past
four decades. With its economy being characterized by boom bust cycles and episodes of
moderate economic growth little has helped to alleviate the poverty. Poverty among households

Pros And Cons Of Plea Bargain
Plea Bargain Pros and Cons
Introduction
The criminal justice system is in constant demands of a lot of logistics and resources to maintain
its functionality. Many of these come with the high price of trying accused persons. Nevertheless,
there has been a long established common law component that affords the accused to cop out in
return for a reduce sentence. A plea bargain is an agreement by the defendant to plead guilty to
charges in exchange for something of benefit to them. (Hayden, 2017, p. 377). Thus, a person who
is alleged to have committed a specific crime is able to plead guilty and get a lighter sentence. At
face value, it appears to be a good thing that produces a win win situation for the criminal justice
system as well as

The Rights Of The Global Warming
My argument is that those who have taken part in causing global warming, which are the developed
countries, should be held responsible by cutting back more than other countries to correct the
injustice that they have inflicted on the poorer countries. These nations are infringing on the rights
of the victimized nations. Therefore, I would argue that there is an ethical basis for deciding
whether some countries should cut back emissions more than others because the situation is not
only unfair, but also violates the rights of innocent people. Everyone has a right to life, a right to
not be harmed, and more specifically, the right not to have one s life taken directly as a means to
further one s end (Finnis). Immanuel Kant thought reason tells us to, Act only on a maxim that you
can will to be a universal law (Kant). Under Kantism views, an ethical act is ethical if it can become
universal law without undermining some sort of construct. If we say that developed countries can
emit greenhouse gases, thus causing harm, without consequence, then it will undermine the
principle that the innocent has the right to not be harmed. Therefore, when that right is violated,
there is an ethical issue. For example, if a burglar steals, it is only fair that they are reprimanded
accordingly by giving back what they stole, plus an additional punishment, to ameliorate the harm
that he caused. To extrapolate this example to global warming, the developed nations are stealing
from the poor

Gnomes Essay
The earth element is the densest of all four elemental realms in the astral sphere. The adept will be
able to assimilate to the shape of a Gnome with ease. The visitor to this realm only needs to shrink
the mental body in size and cumulate the earth element mentally. As always, the adept must charge
the mental body with the element specific to the corresponding plane, before any visit. Otherwise,
he would be invisible to the beings of the elemental planes. The realm of the Gnomes is not so
perilous as the water and fire realms. Gnomes are friendly and talkative creatures. Therefore,
making contact is relatively easy. Gnomes nature is amicable and they are quite sympathetic
towards humans. Their character is opposite to that of the Sylphs.

What does my Christian faith mean to me? Faith is a gift from God. Faith means I won t go to hell

abused that free will and fell into sin. God loved us so much he sent his own son Jesus (who is
also God) down to earth, Jesuswas willingly tortured and slaughtered by the people he came to

In the nineteenth century, the marriages were arranged by the parents. The parents would arrange
the marriages by wealth. The women and men do not have the chance to start the relationship as

The Characteristics Of The Native Americans
Introduction Humans in nature are curious and this leads into finding or creating extraordinary
things that may one day be value or question by many. As early civilizations emerge, the
beginning of many wonders were developed and with great accuracy. Although there was a lack
of technology, as we have today, one wonders how some items may have been developed. The
Native Americans are just one particular example to analyze. Despite the lack of the tools we
have today, their artwork is impeccable and with great accuracy. Their art work and
constructions leave one to ponder on how those items were developed. Furthermore, one can
also wonder on how records were kept. The number system that we have today was not available
to them. Yet, they were able to have some sense of counting. In addition, Native Americans
placed importance on specific numbers and this can be seen in both art and their activities.
Patterns and Shapes The need to create and construct goes far beyond what one can imagine. It is
in human nature to be curious and to develop or create based on the observations of the world
around us. In fact, shapes and patterns emerge in nature organically (Rudman 2007). Native
Americans development of geometric shapes is still a mystery to many. Yet, by analyzing the
world around us and trying to create based on observations and creativity leads into our desire to
mimic nature itself. Designs and patterns on everyday life items were utilized by Native

Do We Write the Text We Read by Reed Way Dasenbrock
Reed Way Dasenbrock s Do We Write the Text We Read? focuses on how the reader s thoughts
about a novel originate with pre existing theories and how those theories can be altered and revised
as the text permits. Dasenbrock argues that through this passing theory, readers develop a sense of
value for the literary work and can progress their own learning capabilities. Dasenbrock utilizes
other theorists to make this point, specifically Stanley Fish who postulates that individuals read
texts differently because they interpret differently. He explains that interpretations of the reader are
created through their beliefs and furthermore, that because people have such different
interpretations, they are able to bring many different concepts to a community of readers. That
community is built by the common assumptions of the members of the community. Dasenbrock
adds to this theory by mentioning the importance of the dynamic evolution of texts that happen
across time. Fish, as Dasenbrock points out, states that the certain interpretations we hold are of
the only truth we should accept and that all other sources, due to their difference, register as false.
He disproves Fish s argument by bringing forth the idea that to say another individual s beliefs are
different than our own is to say that we understand their beliefs completely. He suggests that,
moreover, we can imply similar things by saying different words. There exists many differing ways
to observe, to interpret, and to

Comparing The Holy Bible And The Greek Myth
Mankind is destroyed. Few humans are left. The earth was flooded and all perished, save for the
righteous. The world was judged and found wicked, and so it was drowned. A new start is to be
made. There are two flood stories like this from ancient times: the Holy Bible s account and the
Greek myth. Both are strikingly similar, in that the worldwas punished for its wickedness by being
flooded. In each of the flood stories, the cause of the flood, the circumstances, and the aftermath
are very nearly the same. The world was wicked. And so the world had to be punished. In the
Bible s account, all of mankind was corrupt. Man s imagination and heart was incessantly evil. It

Therefore, He decided to destroy mankind and start anew. However, there was one man who
found grace in the eyes of God, and his name was Noah. Noah alone was a righteous man who
walked with God. Because of this, God spared Noah and his family, and instructed him to build an
ark in order to preserve life on the earth. God wanted mankind to continue, but those that were on
the earth at that time were so corrupt, they needed to be destroyed. In the Greek myth, mankind
was again found to be wicked. This wickedness was exemplified by Lycaon, a tyrant king who
scoffed at Zeus s power and attempted to kill him in his sleep in order to see if he really was a
god or not. Lycaon also killed a man and butchered him, putting him in a stew served to Zeus.
Unlike God, who is omniscient and knew the people s hearts, Zeus had come to visit Lycaon in

Book Of Corinthians
The book of Corinthians is a letter written by Paul and was sent to the church at Corinthians
because they had allowed their sinful behavior to turn them away from following Christ. Paul
warned the church to remember that they had been sanctified in Christ. The church struggled with
its commitment and relationship with Christ. The Corinthian church was lacking knowledge
pertaining to their spiritual gifts. They were reminded by Paul that they possessed all the gifts. The
church of today is more disconnected, wherefore, unaware of Christ after their salvation. When the
church s not closely connected to Christ the old way of life can reappear in the relationship.
Paul gives an account of his conversation in Acts 9: 1. This allows us to know that Christ was
working within his life, in the mist of his sins. It also confirms that Christ saves sinners, and uses
them for the glory of God. After his conversation, Paul was called to be an Apostle, Acts 9:15. He
was commissioned by Christ to do the work of an Apostle. Paul reminds us today that fellowship

The History Behind The Wizard Of Oz
The History behind the Wizard of Oz Stories have deeper meaning than what they appear. Life

them to express themselves through writing. In the original story of The Wizard of Oz , it tells a
tale far more than people realize. The story portrays the government during the time period and
hidden symbolism within the story and characters. The Wizard of Ozwas written in 1900 by L.

Populism has many characteristics similar to Socialism. The Populists goals were to free the

of lower class farmers. One of their main goals was to regulate railroads due to the high price to

Ecosystem services
Ecosystem services are defined as the benefits natural ecosystems supply to human well being
(Elliff and Kikuchi, 2015). These services directly and indirectly influence our welfare, and are of
great interest to stakeholders, but also the community (UNEP WCMC, 2011). One ecosystem has
the ability to provide numerous services and functions. Recognition of ecosystem services is fairly
recent, but the concept is something that has been part of human society since ancient times (Elliff
and Kikuchi, 2015). The Millennium Ecosystem (MEA) in 2005, advanced the concept of
ecosystem services. According to the MEA, these services can be provisioning services, such as
food or water, regulating services, such as purification or waste management, habitat services, such
as maintaining a species, or cultural services, which would be things such as aesthetic value. This
assessment s goal was to create a foundation of economist and ecologists, in a world where people

An Energy Source Is A Universal Objective For All Nations...
The search and need for an energy source is a universal objective for all nations on earth. Human
societies have been built on the consumption of natural resources for energy since the beginning of
human existence. The first source of course came from the burning of wood from trees to produce
fire that has kept humans warm and fed throughout the ages. With the evolution of human
civilization the need for more powerful energy sources have arisen. The industrial revolution of the
early 20th century demanded a new source which could keep up with humanities growing
technologies. Coal, oil, and natural gas now account for the vast majority of nation s sources of
energy, but these resources have only finite supply. Nuclear energy became an important next step
in humanities source for a sustainable energy source. In recent years though nuclear energy has
started to decline in use primarily due to the public s disapproval after such devastating nuclear
disasters such as Chernobyl, Three Mile Island and more recently the Fukushima nuclear accident
in Japan. This decline in nuclear energy is not the case in China today, in fact they are making huge

Webster Industries: A Critical Analysis of Carter s Process for Decision Making There are
several weaknesses in the process that Carter used for decision making. Perhaps the most severe of
them all was the lack of sight with respect to the strategy of the Webster Industries. The financials
for the company clearly show that by October 1975 the company was probably recovering from the
downturn. If that was indeed the case, Carter should requested an adjustment to the anchoring bias

Simultaneously BP s HR set up a massive redeployment process which ultimately allowed 83%
employees laid off to get equivalent or better jobs and this kept the morale strong. Carter s group
should have involved Webster Industries HR in the process to take a similar approach
especially since Clearwater was a Webster company town . Carter Racing and NASA examples
discussed in the class taught us the value of the voice of dissension. While Stevens acts like the
character of Tom from Carter Racing, Jack Bryant from Personnel Audit team would have been
the voice of Paul. Carter should have included him on the team and listened to his experiences
while talking to the employees and their managers. After all, his on the ground experience and
intuition gained through the audit process was more likely to reveal the real situation than PAS or
the brief audit reports. Just as NASA, after the Challenger Disaster instituted a rule that a launch
could be vetoed by anyone in the team, including Jack in the conversation would have served as
an antidote to overconfidence bias that would otherwise creep in. I am also reminded of an
example we discussed in class of a mechanical engineer supervisor identifying more with other
mechanical engineers in her group than software engineers. Similar confirmation as well as

The Pit And The Raven Analysis
One way Poe demonstrates suspense in these works is through the use of an unreliable narrator. In
both of these pieces, the main character is a mysterious and untrustworthy narrator. In The Raven,
the narrator starts by saying, ONCE upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
/ While I nodded, nearly napping (1, 3). The narratorhas just awoken to the sound of knocking at
his door. While it is up for debate, the narrator could very well be dreaming or hallucinating about
the ravenand the tapping, but the reader and even the narrator are waiting for a signal to explicitly
show that it is just a figment of his imagination. In the other story, The Pit and the Pendulum, the
narrator is introduced to us as criminal who has been sentenced to death. The narrator describes the
moment saying, The sentence the dread sentence of death was the last of distinct accentuation
which reached my ears [before swooning] (263). The reader discovers at the beginning of the
story that the narrator has committed a crime so terrible that he has been sentenced to death. The
audience spends the whole story trying to figure out when he will die and by which type of
torment he will die to. In both of Poe s works the narrators are unreliable characters who the reader
cannot completely trust, which leads to the suspense of waiting for the whole truth. Another literary
element Poe uses in these stories to build suspense is a mysterious tone. In The Raven, the narrator

Lumumba Chapter Analysis
Fifteen years after it all happened, I sat by my radio...we messengers of goodwill adrift on a sea of
mistaken intentions (323).
Orleanna s comparison between what was going on in the political arena of the Congo and the
private arena of the Price family exemplifies the plot of the two dramas in the novel: the
overarching drama in the Congo, contributing the character like setting of the novel, and the more
intimate drama in the Price s family life. The details about Lumumba s imprisonment is
supplemented by Orleanna s own detailed recollections of her family s struggles: Leah wanting to
hunt, Ruth May being sick, having no food, etc. The details about Lumumba s death next to the
Price s family struggles also enhance the image perhaps even characterization of the setting as a

Kingsolver spends an abundance of both Leah and Rachel s narrations of detailing the horrors of
the hunt. In this selection, sentences like Birds hit the wall of fire and lit like bottle rockets
portray the true chaos of the event. In this instance, Leah s point of view is useful for descriptions
of hunt because she fought right in the middle of it. Leah is surrounded by the fire crackling and
the antelopes who did not leap gracefully. Her intimate first person point of view through the use
of details enhances the reader s understanding of the insanity of the event. In addition, the brutality
of the event as given by gruesome details like dark blood leaked from its delicate black mouth
characterizes the population of the whole in Kilanga as having almost animalistic qualities. Rachel
extrapolates on this point later, but through Kingsolver s details in Leah s narration, the reader
understands the brutish behavior of both the white and the black people of the Congo here; they re
starving, just like animals they re

Changes In The Arctic Ocean
The polar oceans are two of the most desolate areas on Earth and are home to many well adapted
animals. The Arctic Ocean is the north part of the polar region and the Southern Ocean or
Antarctic Ocean is in the south polar region. The polar oceans are different from other oceans
because for most of the year they are covered with ice and have unique animals. Seawater from
polar regions because it is colder and when the water freezes the water gets saltier because the salt
does not freeze. The denser seawater sinks to the bottom of the ocean. It travels out of the polar

Adolf Hitler s Primary Sources
Adolf Hitler was arguably one of the world s most powerful dictators of all time. Hitler used the
Jews as a scapegoat throughout his rise in power. Using antisemitism to preach hatred and blame
on the Jews for all of Germany s problems, including the loss of World War I. Hitler had gained
the support of other countries to include Italy and Japan and was going to stop at nothing to ensure
that the German people would reign supreme. Hitler had his Army ready for war and was confident
that a victory for Germanywas certain, he just needed an opportunity to strike. In this paper we
will discuss the history of WWII, to include Hitler s rise to power, world conquest and the
transition of Cost Artillery to today s Air Defense. From the very beginning of Adolf Hitlers career,
he had two goals. His primary goal was the forcible acquisition of living space, also known as
Lebensraum, for the German people. Secondly, he plotted the extermination of the Jews. In 1935,
Adolf Hitler openly violated the Treaty of Versailles by rapidly rebuilding the German Army.
Other countries began to get nervous at the exponentially increasing German Army. Hitler assured
fellow diplomats that the rapid growth was strictly a defensive measure. He claimed Germany had
every right to build its forces to be on a level playing field with surrounding... Show more content

With few supplies and resources, German forces were heavily outmatched. On April 30, 1945,

A Research On The Musculoskeletal System
A chiropractor is an expert in caring for the bones, muscles, connective tissues and nerves that
make up about 60 percent of the human body. Every joint in the body is part of the
musculoskeletal system: Overall good health requires that the musculoskeletal system is
functioning properly. The chiropractors at Icon Medical Centers near Hialeah, Florida, specialize
in treating individuals who have sports related injuries or who have sustained injuries during an
automobile accident. Proper Motion Requires Proper Function When any joint in the body is

tissue and pain. Chiropractors use various methods and treatments to return the joint to its proper
position. Injuries Chiropractors at Icon Medical Centers near Hialeah Frequently Treat The

Literary Analysis Of The Sick Rose By William Blake
The Sick Rose by William Blake was published in 1794, included in his collections of poems
titled Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. The Songs of Innocence have a more
innocent tone to them while the Songs of Experience have a darker tone to the poems, as
showcased by The Sick Rose . While the poem tells a story about a sick rose dying from the worm
that has penetrated it from its garden bed, the meaning behind it is much more sinister. The central
metaphor of the poem tells of a person who violates a womanand ruins her life, but it is hidden
behind a seemingly innocent poem about a rose and a worm. There are many different
interpretations behind this poem, but all with the central message of the worm ruining the rose.
Taking the poem literally one will read that the speaker addresses the rose as if it were a person,
and tells it that it sick. O Rose thou art sick (1). The speaker thereby personifies the rose hinting at
that the rose represents more than a simple flower. In the next three lines, the speaker tells of an
invisible worm that is able to fly in storms. The invisible worm, / That flies in the night / In the
howlingstorm (2 4). This also uncovers a hidden meaning behind the worm because no real worm
is able to fly, and especially because it can fly during a storm. In lines 5 6 the worm has found its
way into the rose bed where everything is red. Lines 7 8 tell the reader that the worms dark
secret love has killed the rose. This is another point in the poem which points to a deeper or
hidden meaning, as a worm who is killing a rose cannot truly love it. In literature, worms usually
represent death and decay while roses symbolize love and nature. The worm killing the rose shows
the continuous cycle of life of how a flower blooms, and then something comes along to kill it.
The first meaning behind the poem points to the rose being a fair woman who has become sick.
After this statement, the speaker brings in the element of the worm who represents a man. The
worm could also represent the man s phallus. This man The invisible worm, / That flies in the night
/ In the howling storm (3 4). The man comes in the night during a storm and is invisible, implying
that he isn t wanted.

No Juice Monologue
No Juice!! Low battery. Exactly the two words I didn t want to see right now. When having no
juice you wouldn t be able to text your ladies or do nothing on your phone. When your phone
doesn t have juice that s when your pocket juice or portable charger comes in handy. And if you
don t know, well, now you do. The struggle is real. It s tough being that dude out here in the
streets trying to please these girls when you have no juice. No connection to the world, nothing
to pass the time, and most importantly no way to call up my ladies. One weekend, I was
working on scheduling time with my three ladies: my main girl, my side chick, and my side side
woman. You know how they say that Karma is a female dog? Well, it is! I called one of my ladies

me back? You text me? My phone is dead because I forgot to plug it in, I explained with my

happy that I had dodged that bullet, I started to relax and ordered dinner. Halfway through our
meal, and after a really big drink of sweet tea, I looked toward the restaurant s entrance and there
stood my side chick! WHAT! I spit my drink all over my girl and the table. Trying to hurry and

Starting a Spa Business in Singapore

Despite the economic crisis, health and wellness sector in Singapore has always recorded a

Equal Rights Amendment Summary
Xiaomeng, I really enjoyed reading your post and completely agree with your point of view on
the matter of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). The 1920 s opened the door to the idea of the
ERA and individuals such as Alice Paul and the National Women s Party paved the way to secure
constitutional rights for women. The members of the Women s Party focused their time and energy
on the ERA to help in guaranteeing women constitutional protection from discrimination. Paul
spent all her life advocating for these rights and well as other issues affecting women during the
20s. Paul considered herself a conservative but her vision for women had always gone beyond her
own conservatism. Shortly before her death, she was quoted as saying, I think if

Interview As A Personal Interview
Stanley Seat is a Biology major attending the University of Maryland. Throughout my interview
process with Stanley, I found common themes of a person who would like to expand their
interpersonal relationships through adventure and experiences. What I take away from Stanley
s interview is that he genuinely cares about helping others, and surrounding himself with people
who would do the same. Stanley wants to grow up to become a doctor/healthcare administrators,
and throughout the interview I saw important traits of a person who would excel in that role.
Traits such as being a caring, insightful, strategic, and productive person are all traits found in his
responses, and would be essential for his professional career. He hopes to work hard at the
University of Maryland in order to get into graduate school. Although Stanley is extremely
dedicated to his work, he doesn t let that consume his life. When asked about the kind of people
he would like to be surrounded by, he responds with I like to be around adventurous people who
know how to have fun and live life to the fullest. I don t wantto regret not doing something or
always wonder what would have been. This response really speaks to his ideology of a finite
amount of time. I feel like he believes that you can t live your life cooped up in a bubble. The only
thing you have as a take away from life when you grow older is your family, and the experiences
that you accumulate throughout your life. You can t just sit idle while

  • 2. Diction In Lord Of The Flies Bella Itnyre Ms. Tantlinger Honors English 10 2 January 2018 War Leads to Destruction In William Golding s novel, Lord of the Flies, a group of young British boys fight for their survival after a plane crash. The longer the boys are stranded on the island, the more of their humanity they lose. They decide to split into two seperate groups, not help each other, and instead fight it out. The boys began to become more self centered and only worried about their own survival. The more self centered the boys become, the more savage they become. Golding s diction shows that when war breaks out and humans become careless, the destruction of rules leads to the destruction of humanity. The choice of diction used when the boys go on a sow hunt, it shows how destructive the boys have become. Golding s diction is rape like when he states, Here, struck down by the heat, the sow fell and the hunters hurled themselves at her. This dreadful eruption from an unknown world made her frantic; she squealed and buckled and the air was full of sweat and noise and blood and terror (Golding 135). The word hurled implies that the boys aggressively ran at the sow and landed on her in order to hurt the sow. The sow buckled which shows that she tried to resist what the boys were doing to her. The sow squealed when the boys put her through the pain. Golding also writes, Jack was on top of the sow, stabbing downward with his knife (Golding 135). Golding states that Jack grabbed Maurice and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Vineland Adaptive Behavior Analysis Scott is a 6 year old student who is currently in 1st grade. He has several behaviors that has been identified by both his parents and classroom teachers. Some of his most noted behaviors has been aggression, depression, lack of attention, and withdrawal. He shows aggression by breaking objects, and physically attacking other students as well as staff members. He shows signs of depression when he screams and becomes easily frustrated. Scotts has trouble with attending because he often become distracted as noted. Scotts hyperactivity becomes evident as he screams out and shows very little control over himself or emotions and interrupts adults when he is excited. Finally, Scott displays the coping mechanism of withdrawal by avoiding activities... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that utilizing the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Assessment will provide a clearer picture of Scott. The Vineland test would be the most appropriate test to give Scott because the Vineland test is used to measure personal and social skills from birth to adulthood (Manohari, Raman, Ashok, 2013). It is important to note that Scott is in 1st grade and there is very limited academic pattern for him. Taking this assessment will allow teachers and parents to obtain a greater interpretation of Scott. The assessed adaptive behavior done by Vineland is communication, living skills, socialization, and motor. According to the case study these are also the domains in which the parents and teachers have concerns. Because there is a family history of ADHD Vineland remains an appropriate choice of assessment because it addresses intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as autism spectrum disorder and ADHD. Vineland also provides educational and treatment plans (Manohari, Raman, Ashok, 2013). Therefore, it is necessary that all aspects of a student development are looked at in order to make a n appropriate diagnosis. This includes language, social skills, attention, behavior, mood, academic skills, social skills, play skills and motor skills (Manohari, Raman, Ashok, 2013). Having a thorough assessment allows for all areas of development to be addressed to obtain a clear picture of the student. Because Scott sensory processing is a concern these difficulties interfere with his participation in classroom activities, interaction with peers and staff, emotional and behavioral control and attending ... About 250 Km west of Melbourne, the volcanic plains of Victoria s Western district hosts a geologically significant area called the Grampians National Park. The Grampians National Park is an unprotected bushland well known among hikers and rock climbers. The Mckenzie Falls is one of Victorias largest falls and is the site to the reconstructed Mckenzie Falls Gorge Trail by Hansen Partnership and Parks Victoria. A major bushfire ruined about 50 percent of the park in 2006, followed five years later by a flood that damaged a significant amount of the park s infrastructure, particularly along the Mackenzie River. (Ricardo, 2014) ACCESS There was very little existing site material available, the designers documented the site walking and mapped the area from scratch to propose possible path alignments along the way. Rather than crossing the river below the falls and leading up to the ridge line as it did before, the path would take visitors through the base of the valley, as close to the river as possible. (Ricardo, 2014) To minimalize the linearity of the project heavier and more visually dominant elements were discarded. Thus the presence of the trail is not always constant and it blends in with the surroundings. The bridges and the elevated walkways meander through a cool microclimate created by a field of fallen rocks lying next to an escarpment wall. We wanted the bridge to follow the escarpment wall and gave instruction to make sure the rock wall was always within arm s length. explains Anton Malishev, senior landscape architect at Hansen Partnership. • 7. Inventory And Inventory Control System INTRODUCTION: The more inventory a company has... the less likely they will have what they need. Taichi Ohno What is Inventory? Inventory is considered to be the raw materials, work in process goods or completely finished goods that are a portion of a business s assets that are ready for use or will be ready for sale to customers. Possessing huge amount of inventory for longer period of time is not considered to be usually good for a business because of inventory storage, obsolescence and spoilage costs. On the other hand, we also need to consider that possessing too little inventory isn t good either, because the business runs the risk of losing out on potential sales and potential market shares. (1) In any organization, Inventory Management is a very important concept that is been followed and there is a dedicated team that looks after the planning, scheduling and flow of inventory. Typically there are two standard inventory control systems that are followed within organizations for effective Inventory Management: Push System: The main ideology of push inventory control systems is forecasting inventory needs to satisfy customer demands. Here, companies should make a prediction as to which product the customers would purchase and also determine the quantity of products that will be purchased. Everything in a push system is decided on basis of a prediction and forecasting and that is the major flaw in the system. These forecasts are often inaccurate as well as ... Much of the book discusses why this is true by explaining how the brain operates. There is discussion how neurotransmitters work and how neural chemical reactions occur in the brain. The whole concept of how one person s mental state can influence all those around them was very interesting to me. Along with that how the four EI domains (Self Awareness, Self Management, Social Awareness, and Relationship Management) are learned abilities. For much of my life I thought that these were attributes that you either had or did not have, or that if they were learned at all it was while you were very young and you were then set for life . I was glad to read that research shows that these attributes can be learned later in life, that it just takes more time and more effort. So, the concept, noted above, that the brain can be reprogrammed to operate differently than it had been trained to operate was very eye opening to me. That we are not hard wired from birth is very meaningful to me. It tells me that I can continue to grow as a person and improve myself in how I deal with others. If I only continue long enough I can and will improve all four areas of EI, but for me, most importantly Relationship Management. Another important concept, for me, was that the brain can grow new cells. This indicates that decline in mental capacities, as we age, is not necessarily inevitable. It also means that we can develop new skills as we age. With people living and working longer, it s good to know that we can continue to remain (mentally) active and productive. UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, SYDNEY FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND IT 31266 Introduction to Information Systems Autumn 2015 Assignment I 1.Create TWO bad behaviour of Case and Disease Management systems scenarios and explain each in detail? The Encyclopaedia of Business, 2nd Edition on the Reference for Business website describes a role of a management information system as a computer system that provides management and other personnel within an organisation with up to date information (Management Information Systems, para 4). A bad behaviour scenario is when this system does not meet the intended requirements and leaves the business less efficient and the customers dissatisfied. First scenario: A patient suffers from heart disease. Their medical consultation history such as appointments and follow up care is taken care of by the case management system and the progress of their heart disease in managed by the disease management system. The patient moves houses and thus has a change in address, however this change, due to poor management, has only been recorded in the disease management system and thus the old address is still active in the case management system. Confidential health reports are sent to the wrong address due to the incorrect information in the case management system, unknown to the hospital. This compromises the patient s medical privacy and also inconveniences them as they are not receiving their own personal health reports by mail. Second scenario: A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fear in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee Over the course of Tom Robinson s trial, Mayella s state of mind shifts from anxious and nervous to distress and panic due the aspects of guilt and fear. When Mayella is called to the witness stand, and asked to provide her testimony, she is very uneasy, uncertain and hesitant towards her claims. As the questions grow more specific and complex, Mayella has a difficult time answering and struggles with providing the truth. The jury calls nineteen year old Mayella Ewell to the witness stand to provide evidence regarding the charge of Tom Robinson. Mayella is claimed to be a victim of the sexual harassment and is here to testify her side of the situation, either confirming, or denying it. When Mr. Gilmer tells Mayella to describe the events of the evening when she was attacked, she s[its] silently...stare[s] at him, and burst[s] into tears (179). When Judge Taylor tries to calm her down, she points to Atticus and tells the jury that she is afraid of him. The fact that she began to cry due to feartowards Atticus demonstrates that she has something to hide her guilt, and her shame. • 19. The Expansion Of The Frontier And The Relationship Among... Unforgiven and Stagecoach The film Stagecoach incorporated the expansion of the frontier and the relationship among the Native Americans. The film starts with a wide view of an open valley to show the vast plain and the open frontier, introducing and getting an idea of the setting. The movie was interesting in the sense that it had more social commentary than most films. An article was written by Thomas Myers explaining the film and the unique social commentary of the film Stagecoach by stating, it depicted a sub community of individuals each representing a distinct social status in western history, and that this clash of classes and misfit characters provide a perfect set up for social commentary about diverse societies. The western hero possesses a sense of resilience that allows him to outsmart a group of outlaws. In earlier western films, Native Americans were viewed as savages and ethnic groups were viewed as ignorant due to the lack of political correctness. Like most early western films, violence was utilized in place of punishment for bad men, and as Thomas Myers said in his article about the comparison of western films, was a means for restoring order to the community. African Americans were not added to the cast of characters in Stagecoach, but during the early expansion of the western frontier, there were African Americancowboys and other settlers that came from many ethnic groups. Another example of ignorance expressed in minority groups is the portrayal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. John Stewart Mill s The Subjection Of Women In chapter III of The Subjection of Women, John Stewart Mill contends with the claims that women are unfit to hold public office, due to their mental weakness, nervous energy, and their inability to focus on singular problems. He also refutes the claim that women are inherently unequal because they have not had the same successes as men in various fields. In Chapter IV, Mill lays out his arguments for why granting women more freedom would be beneficial in that it would increase utility. He begins by asserting that child rearing, in his time, bolsters injustice, and has a negative impact on the character of men. He then argues that women s equality would double the mental faculties of society. He further argues that women who are uneducated have a bad influence upon men, and that increasing women s liberty would have a betterimpact on society as a whole. Finally, he argues that further genderequality would allow women to understand when sacrifices need be made for the betterment of society. Mill s arguments are sound, however he misses opportunities to strengthen his claims. This essay concludes with some additional arguments that Mill could have added to increase the effectiveness of his arguments. The Roy s adaptation model states a person is a bio psych social being in constant interaction with a changing environment. The adaptation has two subsystems. First the cognator subsystem which is a major coping process involving four cognitive emotive channels: perceptual and information processing, learning, judgment, and emotion. And secondly the regulator subsystem which is a basic type of adaptive process that responds automatically through neural, chemical, and endocrine coping channels. ANALYSIS OF NURSING THEORY Nursing theories have been a major contributor to nursing education, it has helped create a focus. Nursing theories have also helped healthcare professional, managers and patients make unique contributions to health care. According to Im, E. Chang, S.J. However, globalisation also affects the manager s awareness due to organisational value in comparison with cross national business partners (Gentry Sparks, 2012). Likewise, the importance of managers consists of their functions, roles and skills, which they need to perform efficiently. In 1949, Fayol (as cited in Lamond, 2003) identified a theory through surveys that there are five functions of managers, which are planning, organising, commanding, coordinating and controlling. Planning is a process which managers are necessarily good at intrapersonal and interpersonal competencies, as it is related to handle and encourage people with all the obligations required to be able to make preparations and aim for optimum outcomes rather than minimum exposure. It is basically the function of all level of managers, but dominated by top managers because they make long term plans instead of short term plans, which are made by middle and first level managers. Afterwards, organising means building up the undertaking material and human organisation. This includes having an adequate knowledge to find essential work force and put each where he/she can do the most effective duties. So, this is the function of top managers because they are the one who have authorities to do that. The next function is to command. • 29. The Rights Of The Global Warming My argument is that those who have taken part in causing global warming, which are the developed countries, should be held responsible by cutting back more than other countries to correct the injustice that they have inflicted on the poorer countries. These nations are infringing on the rights of the victimized nations. Therefore, I would argue that there is an ethical basis for deciding whether some countries should cut back emissions more than others because the situation is not only unfair, but also violates the rights of innocent people. Everyone has a right to life, a right to not be harmed, and more specifically, the right not to have one s life taken directly as a means to further one s end (Finnis). Immanuel Kant thought reason tells us to, Act only on a maxim that you can will to be a universal law (Kant). Under Kantism views, an ethical act is ethical if it can become universal law without undermining some sort of construct. If we say that developed countries can emit greenhouse gases, thus causing harm, without consequence, then it will undermine the principle that the innocent has the right to not be harmed. Therefore, when that right is violated, there is an ethical issue. For example, if a burglar steals, it is only fair that they are reprimanded accordingly by giving back what they stole, plus an additional punishment, to ameliorate the harm that he caused. To extrapolate this example to global warming, the developed nations are stealing from the poor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although there was a lack of technology, as we have today, one wonders how some items may have been developed. The Native Americans are just one particular example to analyze. Despite the lack of the tools we have today, their artwork is impeccable and with great accuracy. Their art work and constructions leave one to ponder on how those items were developed. Furthermore, one can also wonder on how records were kept. The number system that we have today was not available to them. Yet, they were able to have some sense of counting. In addition, Native Americans placed importance on specific numbers and this can be seen in both art and their activities. Do We Write the Text We Read by Reed Way Dasenbrock Reed Way Dasenbrock s Do We Write the Text We Read? focuses on how the reader s thoughts about a novel originate with pre existing theories and how those theories can be altered and revised as the text permits. Dasenbrock argues that through this passing theory, readers develop a sense of value for the literary work and can progress their own learning capabilities. Dasenbrock utilizes other theorists to make this point, specifically Stanley Fish who postulates that individuals read texts differently because they interpret differently. He explains that interpretations of the reader are created through their beliefs and furthermore, that because people have such different interpretations, they are able to bring many different concepts to a community of readers. That community is built by the common assumptions of the members of the community. Dasenbrock adds to this theory by mentioning the importance of the dynamic evolution of texts that happen across time. Fish, as Dasenbrock points out, states that the certain interpretations we hold are of the only truth we should accept and that all other sources, due to their difference, register as false. He disproves Fish s argument by bringing forth the idea that to say another individual s beliefs are different than our own is to say that we understand their beliefs completely. He suggests that, moreover, we can imply similar things by saying different words. There exists many differing ways to observe, to interpret, and to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My desire to become a health professional began as I observed my mom work hard to complete residency, and then commit her career to providing precise care as a psychiatrist. I too, have the innate desire to help others and a love of science and the body. My desire to be an optometrist over other health professions was solidified after shadowing Dr. Stuckey. Over the course of shadowing, I learned the responsibilities of an optometrist and the rewarding aspects of the occupation. There is nothing to be taken lightly in giving newfound sight to another individual, which is by far the most intriguing aspect of optometry for me. As a lover of routine, prescribing glasses and contacts would be nothing short of enjoyable, however, through shadowing I learned surprises frequently walk through the door: from pieces of metal in the eye to lens subluxation. • 46. An Energy Source Is A Universal Objective For All Nations... The search and need for an energy source is a universal objective for all nations on earth. Human societies have been built on the consumption of natural resources for energy since the beginning of human existence. The first source of course came from the burning of wood from trees to produce fire that has kept humans warm and fed throughout the ages. With the evolution of human civilization the need for more powerful energy sources have arisen. The industrial revolution of the early 20th century demanded a new source which could keep up with humanities growing technologies. Coal, oil, and natural gas now account for the vast majority of nation s sources of energy, but these resources have only finite supply. Nuclear energy became an important next step in humanities source for a sustainable energy source. In recent years though nuclear energy has started to decline in use primarily due to the public s disapproval after such devastating nuclear disasters such as Chernobyl, Three Mile Island and more recently the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan. This decline in nuclear energy is not the case in China today, in fact they are making huge movements to ramp up their use of nuclear energy. By looking at the history then taking an in depth look into recent nuclear powerin China we will be able to see why and how China is making such extensive leaps in nuclear energy. Perhaps the most severe of them all was the lack of sight with respect to the strategy of the Webster Industries. The financials for the company clearly show that by October 1975 the company was probably recovering from the downturn. If that was indeed the case, Carter should requested an adjustment to the anchoring bias of 15% downsizing target and examined the list of criteria that Stevens laid out in the light of sustained growth. Carter Racing and NASA examples discussed in the class taught us the value of the voice of dissension. While Stevens acts like the character of Tom from Carter Racing, Jack Bryant from Personnel Audit team would have been the voice of Paul. Carter should have included him on the team and listened to his experiences while talking to the employees and their managers. After all, his on the ground experience and intuition gained through the audit process was more likely to reveal the real situation than PAS or the brief audit reports. Just as NASA, after the Challenger Disaster instituted a rule that a launch could be vetoed by anyone in the team, including Jack in the conversation would have served as an antidote to overconfidence bias that would otherwise creep in. • 49. The Pit And The Raven Analysis One way Poe demonstrates suspense in these works is through the use of an unreliable narrator. In both of these pieces, the main character is a mysterious and untrustworthy narrator. In The Raven, the narrator starts by saying, ONCE upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, / While I nodded, nearly napping (1, 3). The narratorhas just awoken to the sound of knocking at his door. While it is up for debate, the narrator could very well be dreaming or hallucinating about the ravenand the tapping, but the reader and even the narrator are waiting for a signal to explicitly show that it is just a figment of his imagination. In the other story, The Pit and the Pendulum, the narrator is introduced to us as criminal who has been sentenced to death. The narrator describes the moment saying, The sentence the dread sentence of death was the last of distinct accentuation which reached my ears [before swooning] (263). The reader discovers at the beginning of the story that the narrator has committed a crime so terrible that he has been sentenced to death. The audience spends the whole story trying to figure out when he will die and by which type of torment he will die to. In both of Poe s works the narrators are unreliable characters who the reader cannot completely trust, which leads to the suspense of waiting for the whole truth. Another literary element Poe uses in these stories to build suspense is a mysterious tone. In The Raven, the narrator ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The details about Lumumba s imprisonment is supplemented by Orleanna s own detailed recollections of her family s struggles: Leah wanting to hunt, Ruth May being sick, having no food, etc. The details about Lumumba s death next to the Price s family struggles also enhance the image perhaps even characterization of the setting as a complex, dynamic and ... From the very beginning of Adolf Hitlers career, he had two goals. His primary goal was the forcible acquisition of living space, also known as Lebensraum, for the German people. Secondly, he plotted the extermination of the Jews. In 1935, Adolf Hitler openly violated the Treaty of Versailles by rapidly rebuilding the German Army. • 56. Literary Analysis Of The Sick Rose By William Blake The Sick Rose by William Blake was published in 1794, included in his collections of poems titled Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. The Songs of Innocence have a more innocent tone to them while the Songs of Experience have a darker tone to the poems, as showcased by The Sick Rose . While the poem tells a story about a sick rose dying from the worm that has penetrated it from its garden bed, the meaning behind it is much more sinister. The central metaphor of the poem tells of a person who violates a womanand ruins her life, but it is hidden behind a seemingly innocent poem about a rose and a worm. There are many different interpretations behind this poem, but all with the central message of the worm ruining the rose. Taking the poem literally one will read that the speaker addresses the rose as if it were a person, and tells it that it sick. O Rose thou art sick (1). The speaker thereby personifies the rose hinting at that the rose represents more than a simple flower. In the next three lines, the speaker tells of an invisible worm that is able to fly in storms. The invisible worm, / That flies in the night / In the howlingstorm (2 4). This also uncovers a hidden meaning behind the worm because no real worm is able to fly, and especially because it can fly during a storm. In lines 5 6 the worm has found its way into the rose bed where everything is red. Lines 7 8 tell the reader that the worms dark secret love has killed the rose. This is another point in the poem which points to a deeper or hidden meaning, as a worm who is killing a rose cannot truly love it. In literature, worms usually represent death and decay while roses symbolize love and nature. The worm killing the rose shows the continuous cycle of life of how a flower blooms, and then something comes along to kill it. The first meaning behind the poem points to the rose being a fair woman who has become sick. After this statement, the speaker brings in the element of the worm who represents a man. The worm could also represent the man s phallus. This man The invisible worm, / That flies in the night / In the howling storm (3 4). The man comes in the night during a storm and is invisible, implying that he isn t wanted. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
