Drinking And College Students
Drinking in college is a popular activity to take part in. However, that does not mean it is healthy
or useful. Alcohol companies feed off college students. Their advertising is directed at underage
drinkers, and many college students fall into that category. So, why do these young adults drink?
The answer is in the ads, the alcoholcompanies are promoting fun times and joyous lives. Therefore,
the underage students see drinking as a social normand think they might even have a better life
after they start drinking. Nonetheless, people know the cold hard truth about alcohol, it is an
unhealthy and even deadly substance. Colleges need to fix their alcohol advertising and drinking
problems by dropping their alcohol sponsors and promoting healthier lifestyles along with showing
the students that you do not need to drink to become popular, which in turn eliminates underage
drinking and the harm that goes along with alcohol consumption. Whether alcohol companies will
admit that their advertising is focused on underage people and more specifically underage college
students, it is the truth. Multiple tests and surveys have been conducted on students and the effect
that alcohol adverting through social media has on them. In Carrotte s article about this topic, she
conducts a study on a large group of students and young adults with a median age of 21.1 years
old. The people in the survey that marked that they had consumed alcohol also had to fill out an
audit. The

Von Willebrand Disease ( Vwd )
Von Willebrand disease (VWD) is a genetic disorder that will occur when an individual has
limiting amounts of the von Willebrand factor (VWF) or they have abnormal forms of it. This
disease can also be associated with having low plasma levels. It is one of the world s most
common bleeding disorders. It is so common, that it can be found all over the world, it is known
to affect 1% of the world s population. VWD is also a very unique disorder because it can affect
various animal species like dogs and pigs. is known as one of the most common bleeding
disorders. It is known to affect 1can also be found in various animal species, like dogs and pigs.
This is a silent disease because many people don t even know they have it. But, when someone
who is suffering from VWD starts bleeding, they will undergo severe bleeding. Just because an
individual might not present with symptoms, doesn t mean they won t suffer from the severe
bleeding consequences. This lack of knowledge is due to the fact that the symptoms of VMD
are so mild. This factor can either be missing or it can just be defective. VWF is known as a

INTRODUCTION Not п¬Ѓnance. Not strategy. Not technology. It is teamwork that remains the
ultimate competitive advantage, both because it is so powerful and so rare. A friend of mine,
the founder of a company that grew to a billion dollars in annual revenue, best expressed the
power of teamwork when he once told me, If you could get all the people in an organization
rowing in the same direction, you could dominate any industry, in any market, against any
competition, at any time. Whenever I repeat that adage to a group of leaders, they immediately
nod their heads, but in a desperate sort of way. They seem to grasp the truth of it while
simultaneously surrendering to the impossibility of actually making it happen. And that is where
the rarity of teamwork comes into play. For all the attention that it has received over the years
from scholars, coaches, teachers, and the media, teamwork is as elusive as it has ever been within

Fresh Fruit, Broken Bodies By Seth Holmes
When thinking of Mexican American immigrants what comes to mind? The American public
consistently listens to the media telling stories of how these people cross the border illegally,
which is deemed as a crime. Immigrants are portrayed just as stealing American jobs and
benefiting from government programs such as welfare. Countless people think it was a
voluntary action for them to come to the United State, therefore whatever comes their way is
what they deserve regardless if it is health problems, racism or low paying jobs. However, what
most of American people don t realize is that the majority of Mexican migrants are forced to
migrate to the United State in order to survive. They constantly risk their lives to cross a
dangerous border in order to find the jobs that the American people don t want to endure. In the
book called Fresh Fruit, Broken Bodies , the author, Seth Holmes focuses on the lives of an
indigenous Mexican group called the Triquis. Throughout the book, he focuses on the journey of
the group from their hometown of Oaxaca to farms in California and Washington. The book also
emphasizes how racism and health problems of migrant workers have become invisible to the
American people. It is commonly seen that their personal damage such as health problems and
placement on the social hierarchy system is only to be blamed on their sole decision to come to a
country where they are considered illegal. Instead of blaming the Triqui people for their sickness,

Biography of Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn
Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn was the premier artist in 17th century Europe during the great
Golden Age of Dutch painting, well known for his Dutch Baroque style of art that lead to his title
as one of the greatest painters in history. His incredible brush technique and his masterful
appreciation of human nature combined to create a humongous impact on his peers as well as
influencing tons of artists of later years.1 He was born on July 15, 1606, in Leiden, Netherlands, a
small city located in the Dutch province of South Holland. Rembrandtwas born into a large family,
the eighth of nine children. His father, Harmen Gerritsz van Rijn, was a miller, and his mother,
Neeltgen Willemsd van Zuytbroeck, was the daughter of a baker. Rembrandt studied at Latin
school for seven years before enrolling in university in 1620, before leaving after only a few
months to become an apprentice to the painter for Jacob Isaacsz van Swanenburgh.2 After working
under Jacob Isaacsz van Swanenburgh for three years, Rembrandt left for Amsterdam, to work with
Pieter Lastman, in 1624. While many artists in the 17th century felt like they needed to travel to
Italy to fulfill their artistic training, Rembrandt never left Holland once in his entire life, taking
pride in his Dutch nationality.3 Pieter Lastman was one of the most respected experts in historical
paintings in all of Holland, as his inspiration in his works came mostly from mythological,
historical, and biblical scenes. Like Lastman,

The Beauty Myth Essay
This essay is for women who believe their thighs are too big, their breasts are too small, their hair
is boring, their skin is flawed, their body is shaped funny, or their clothes are outdated. This
month s column is for women who believe their life would improve if they could lose 15 pounds;
if they could afford contact lenses, that new perfume or anti cellulite concoction; if they got a nose
job, a face lift, a tummy tuck, etc. This month s column is for women who feel shame or
unhappiness when they ponder some part (or all) of their body. In other words, this month s
column is for 99.9% of the women reading it!

Future Farmers of America (FFA) is the nation s largest youth organization that steers students in a
direction of career success and premier leadership. Like most organizations FFA is very conscious
of making career success and leadership their goals for students, so why might FFA be the best
option for the students? This organization highly impacts students because it is an inter curricular
activity instead of an extracurricular activity. FFA is an organization well known across the
country. This organization is perceived to just be available for farm and ranch kids, but this is open
to help all students. It is a long standing tradition of honesty, strong worth ethic and fairness. It

During the duration of an FFA career you will participate in a public speaking event. By
participating in FFA, your public speaking skills are already becoming great and that will help
you immensely throughout the rest of your schooling as well as your life. To become an FFA
officer you have to go through what is called an officer interview , where you are asked about 5
to 6 interview questions, so before some students ever go out and have a job interview they have
went through an interview process while they were still in high school. This interview process will
give students a feel for what may be asked in a job interview and how to answer the questions
asked as best as you can. Being apart of FFA also allows you to become a great team member. As
an FFA chapter you are a part of a big team, where you work together to achieve your chapter
goals. Besides being apart of a big team, you can also be apart of Career Development Event
teams. Those teams only have four students on them, so a lot of the teams weight is put on each of
those students on the team, therefore you have to become a great teammate so that your team can

The Crisis No. 1 Syntax
AP English per.2
2/23/13
The Crisis No. 1 As we read this passage it is full of different rhetorical strategies and the reason
they were put in there. The writer s style is the way he uses his language and the rhetorical
strategies that he might use to enhance his writing. As I read the passage I came across syntax
which is the war he puts his words to send the reader a message, and ad hominem arguing his point
against the person instead of the argument. The rhetorical used in the reading is used cleverly
enough to prove a point. One of the first rhetorical strategies he uses is syntax and the definition is
the way an author chooses to join words into phrases and sentences. The words he uses for his
syntax are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It matters not where you live...the evil or the blessing will reach you. The reason why he uses
you repeatedly and often is to address them or you so you can feel personally committed to the
words he is saying. When he uses you instead of the colonist or people it is much stronger to use
you there is a personal connection with the speaker and the listener. The use of you is to feel
personally committed because in times like this people only worry about themselves and that s the
nature of humans. The nature of humans is always to care for themselves especially in hard
situations when you are being addressed personally you have that sensation that you must help
yourself. The person speaking knew that and addressed them personally as you in order to get his
message through the people. It helped get the message through the people and soon got what he
wanted. In conclusion the passage is full of rhetorical strategies like the ones I have used to
describe the feelings of the man trying to send out his message to the colonist and the syntax
used as well as the pathos to show how he feels about the king and the wrong choices he has been
doing he is trying to get the colonist to go against him and things would improve without his
ruling. He used them well to prove a point and send his message; those are good uses of rhetorical

The Efficacy Of Ck2 Inhibitors Essay
AML xenograft model: For the proposed studies to test the efficacy of CK2 inhibitor in AML,
we have transduced the human AML cell line, U937 and human APML cell line, HL60 with a
lentiviral vector carrying the luciferase gene. The luciferase producing U937 and HL60 cells
were injected via the tail vein into NOD.Cg Rag1 Il2rg/SzJ (NRG) mice. After 3 5 days,
engraftment of AML cells was confirmed by bioluminescence imaging documenting one log
increase in quantitative signal measured by the IVIS Xenogen reader. Pilot results in two
animals demonstrate that both U937 and HL60 luciferase producing cells successfully
established leukemia (Fig 6). Thus, we have demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed
experiments by establishing two luciferase tagged AML murine xenografts models in which to
assess therapeutic efficacy of CX 4945. Experimental approach: 2.1) Test the therapeutic
efficacy of CX 4945 in AML cell line derived murine xenograft model We will use 4 6 weeks old

Ten mice per treatment group will be injected with 2x106 luciferase expressing U937 cells via

The Revolution Of New Orleans
A nineteenth century San Francisco song reads, The miners came in forty nine, the whores in fifty
one; and when they got together they produced the native son. This sheds some light as to how
long prostitution has been a part of America. Prostitution dates back to the beginning of
colonization in the United States, but wasn t considered a legal act. At the time the laws just didn t
acknowledge what a prostitute or the act of prostitutionitself was. In 1721, the French government
shipped eighty women to the colony of New Orleans that housed seven hundred men to promote
marriage. Also, as a means to detour the men from having relations with the Native American
women. However, the women sent were previous prostitution offenders in France,... Show more

Many believe the illegalization of prostitution today to be an antiquated view of the trade, and want
to see it legalized. However, prostitution should not see legalization due to it will promote more
sexual unacceptable activities such as child prostitution, expand the sex trafficking trade, and
escalate poor treatment to those in the trade.
Legalization of prostitution will promote more sexual unacceptable activities such as child
prostitution. It is estimated that about two million children are exploited in the sex trade yearly
(Global Sex Trafficking Fact Sheet). Child prostitutes are considered safer than adults because
many customers feel less likely to contract a STD due to their young age. Forty percent of the US
adult prostitutes today say they were illegally trafficked into the trade as children. Males make up
twenty percent of US prostitution population and averaged a starting age of fourteen. Women make
up seventy percent and averaged the same starting age of fourteen (Prostitution Statistics You Have
to Know). It is naГЇve to say that prostitution, illegal or legal, does not promote child prostitution.
The trafficking and presence of child prostitutes has had known increases in countries where
prostitution is legalized due to supply needing to meet demand. Victoria, Australia legalized
prostitution in 1984, and was found to have a dramatic increase in child organized commercial

Domestic System Vs Factory System
The Industrial Revolution is one of the most influential periods of time in history. The difference
between the factory and the domestic systems and how they emerged are what make this time
period the most interesting. It s bewildering how in such little time we went from working at home
by ourselves producing very little to working on a large scale and producing many thing at once.
The change from the Domestic system to the factory system was caused by the people s need of
material things faster. One reason this whole ordeal started was because of the enclosure acts. The
enclosure acts closed parts of land and gave certain people legal rights to the property. They set
these enclosure acts so farming would be done more efficiently, but as... Show more content on

The Effects Of Alcohol Lowers Blood Glucose Levels By...
Alcohol lowers blood glucose levels by stimulating insulin production. This is detected by the beta
cells of the pancreatic islets and the secretion of insulin is induced. Each hormone has a very
specific protein that it will bind to. These are called hormone receptors and once they are bound to
the hormone they stimulate a particular response in the cell. Hormones circulate the bloodstream
until they find a cell that has the ideal receptor attached to it. Once insulinis secreted into the
bloodstream, the hormone stimulates cells, especially muscle and adipose cells, to take up
glucose from the blood. The transport of glucose into cells is done by facilitated diffusion.
Glucose cannot get across a membrane unless specific transporters are in the membrane to provide
a channel for the glucose to move through. Since it is facilitated diffusion, glucose will be
transported from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration (i.e., down the
gradient). The transporters of glucose is called GLUT (GLUcose Transporter), the main transporter
is GLUT4. As insulin travels through the bloodstream, it finds its specific receptors on the surface
of liver cells, muscle cells and adipose cells. When the insulin binds to the insulin receptor on the
cell membranes, cells are stimulated to increase the number of glucose transporters. This is an
effect allowing the hormone on the outside of the cell to regulate functions inside the cell even
though the hormone has not entered the

Food Log Report From Diet Plus
In my food log, I tracked my food and liquid consumption for five days in a row. I thought this
was interesting process, but I kinda of liked it. At some points of the process I thought it was
kinda of difficult to remember to log the food I ate on the computer. But, ultimately I thought it
was worth it because I got to see all the macro and micro nutrients I consumed which is something
I don t always get to see.
I would saw that my consumption of kcals were around the same range. Out of the five days I
tracked my intake, I ranged around 1,000 kcals a day. I guess you could say that I don t really a
good variety of foods in my diet, so I would definitely change that by adding more fruits and

The Pros And Cons Of Antitrust Laws
The first antitrust law was passed in 1890 by Congress called, the Sherman Act. It was a wide
ranging charter of economic liberty designed to preserve unrestricted competition within the rule of
trade. Congress then passed two additional antitrust laws in 1914, called the Federal Trade
Commission Act that formed the FTC, and the Clayton Act. These would be the three essential
antitrust, federal laws that are still in effect today (The Antitrust Laws, 2013). Antitrust laws
prohibit illegal mergers and business practices, which leaves the court of law to resolve which laws
were broken based on the case facts. Antitrust laws have the same straightforward objective and that
is to protect the progression of competition to benefit consumers, in making sure that there are
incentives for companies to function proficiently, to preserve low prices, and higher quality(The
Antitrust Laws, 2013). The three essential antitrust, federal laws The Sherman Act The Sherman
Act forbids contracts and sedition in limitation of trade, monopolization, attempted monopolization,
or conspiracy to monopolize. In1914, the Supreme Court agreed that the Sherman Act does not

Rational Choice Theory Of Criminal Behavior Essay
People chose all behavior and including all criminal behavior. Which in this case the choices that
criminals make brings them pleasure and adrenaline. Criminal choices can be controlled by fear of
punishment, but not all the time. The crime will be limited when the benefits are reduced and the
costs increase. Rational choice theory is a perspective that holds criminality in the result of
conscious choice. Not to mention, that it is predicted that individuals choose to commit crimewhen
the benefits outweigh the costs of disobeying the law. In the rational choice theory, individuals are
seen as motivated offenders by their needs, wants and goals that express their preferences. This
theory has been applied to a wide of range in crime, such as robbery, drug use, vandalism, and
white collar crime. Furthermore, rational choice theory had a revival in sociologyin the early 1960s,
under the heading of exchange theory, and by the end of the decade was having a renewed
influence in criminology, first as control theory and later as routine activities theory.
Rational choice theory addresses, criminal behavior in various ways. In addition, this theory also
falls short in many places. I have decided to work on the rational theory because it is a common
theory that I see on a day to day base. I feel that anyone who breaks the law should be held
responsible and not be rewarded with such a low punishment. If our criminal justice system
enforces stricter punishments than those who are

Causes And Effects Of Sexual Harassment
Everyone thinks that Sexual Harassment is infrequent, but speaking from experience it can
happen at anytime , any day , and any age. I was sexually harassed at the age of 11, and I was so

I lived with the self condemnation , shame, and thoughts in my head. Although people do not think

whether female, male, teen,child, adult, or elder. The effects can range from depression to suicide;
however, help is available for coping. First of all Suicide yes, suicideit s a very touchy subject for
most people, but sexual Harassment can play a role in it. Suicide is a major effect and the most
common effect of sexual harassment victims. A study found that 23 percent of students had
experienced at least one incident of unwanted sexual touching, sexual threats or remarks, or
indecent exposure in the past six months. Of women who had experienced frequent, unwanted
sexual touching, 15 percent said they had made suicide attempts often in the past six months,
compared with 2 percent of students that had not experienced sexual harassment.(Rettner) An

The Effects Of Mass Media On Society
Where do we get our information in society? How do we know what is true information from
false information? Mass media, including T.V, Radio stations, newspaper has taken over the
minds of people in society. According to Glen Smith and Kathleen Searles, Most assumption are
being based off of what they see and hear on the television, social networks and on the radio
because its mainly one side stories or one bashing of individuals. People do not take the time to go
in depth about the situation being inaccurately displayed at times. Sociologist is beginning to
realize the effect of mass mediahas on society especially the younger generation.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Patrick Daley explained from a sociology point of view that Ferrarotti s believe society has lost
the essence to communicate with each other face to face; our expressive world is no longer
there. Ferrarotti s argued, We are losing our ability to produce meaning, to the massive out
pouring of images from television. Television also annihilates history; Frerrarotti maintains, by

Rise-Oh Rise Great Dairy Cobra
Rise oh rise great dairy Cobra. The Dinner Party is a short passage that has a variety of characters
and their personalities all help influence the theme of the passage. The characters include a
colonial official along with his wife, army officers, government attaches, and their wives as well,
and an American naturalist. With the setting being India while it was ruled by the British the
characteristics of these people make the story very unique. Early on we realize that there is a
disagreement between a young girl and the colonel, which is about how women are more afraid of
anything than men. This is soon settled by a King Cobra scaring the colonel rather than all the
women who sat still as statues. That moment is where the reader realizes... Show more content on

First, we could look at the colonial official. In the text it says, A woman s unfailing reaction in
any crisis is to scream. And while a man may feel like it he has that ounce more of never control
than a woman has. This would be only typical in that macho tough guy type of man who thinks
that they are superior to woman. With this evidence we can clarify the colonel official as
stubborn. Next, let s take a look at, Mrs. Wynnes (the hostess of this party). In the text it says,
Mrs. Wynnes, how did you know that cobra was in the room? A faint smile lights up the woman
s face as she replies: because it was crawling across my foot. Who could be so calm with a cobra,
which can at any moment inject one with venom, crawling across their veins? We can clarify that
Mrs. Wynnes is a very spiritual person with multiple techniques to keep clam. Finally, let s take a
look at the American Naturalist. In the text it says, The American does not join in the argument but
watches the other guests. Just a minute, Mrs. Wynnes, how did you know that cobra was in the
room? The American naturalist doesn t tend to the colonel who would most likely get himself
killed; instead his curiosity takes over him to know how the cobra was only sensed by the hostess.
We can clarify that the American naturalist is a curious person at the most. Now that we can easily
identify the personalities of each character let s move onto to try to find the actual meaning of the

International And International Law And Policy
The International community: developments in International law and policy.
(Kirsti Samuels, 2007)
Civil war has become the dominant type of war in death tolls and severity. It has caused
humanitarian destruction on a vast scale, as well as serious disruption of regional and international
peace and security. The author Samuels states that her purpose of this work was that she has
written this to collate and analyse a broad range of international community practice with respect to
civil conflicts and coup d etat, and to investigate how this practice, which has changed in the past
15 years, is shaping international law and policy. (Samuels, 2007). Since the end of the World War
II, and especially in the last decade, states, regional organizations, and the UN have become
involved in situations of civil conflicts and coups d etat. The international community has also
formulated a series of rationales for its actions, ranging from rejecting violence against civilians
to rejecting the use of force against domestic governments. The author states that for many years,
such responses to civil conflicts and coups took place in the cold war context, and they were
largely governed by geopolitical ideology and superpower motives rather than international policy
or legal norms. This piece of work will focus on the chapter called The nature and impact of the
emerging norms . I chose this particular chapter as it s the most relevant to what Samuel s is trying
to address in her book.

Food In American Culture Essay
In Greek culture, food is the main event at every gathering. At funerals, mourners are given
koliva (boiled wheat, sugar, and cinnamon), a special cake(vasilopita) is baked on New Year s
Day, and the midnight Easter service is followed by a feast, consisting of lamb. Families and friend
s share their favorite old recipes from their great grandmother s. Though some may argue that food
creates discrepancy within a community, food exacerbates the unity of society. Every American

Essay on Urban Legend of Car Headlights
Lights Out
In preparation for this writing assignment, I interviewed about 15 students at the University to
collect their urban legends. One legend, often called Lights Out, was mentioned by just about all of
the students I interviewed. Those who did not mention it on their own recognized it when I
described it.
I interviewed a 19 year old male sophomore who anticipates getting into the School of Business.
He transferred from Community College this past fall, and currently lives with a relative in a
nearby off campus home. He went to a small Catholic high school. He recalls first hearing this
legend early in high school, probably between freshman and sophomore year. After telling him the
purpose of the interview, I began the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Afterward, I asked him if he or anyone he knew had ever tried this before. He said, I have
(pause)... I didn t die (pause)... that time (smile). The way he smiled at the end of his performance
re established his normal disposition and alerted me that his serious tone earlier was just part of
the act. His overall performance of the legend was similar to that of other students that I
interviewed. When telling stories they seemed serious, but by the end their concern was clearly part
of the performance.
Many students I interviewed told me relatively the same story, and one female student even
mentioned receiving an e mail about it years ago. Unlike other urban legends I have heard, this
story did not really change significantly from person to person, perhaps because it is so
straightforward. Barbara Mikkelson provided many examples of this warning story, which is
usually spread by e mail or fax. One such example describes the murders as taking place on a
certain weekend:
Gang Initiation Weekend. ( Please Read Very Important!!!)
Police officers working with the DARE program has issued this warning: If you are driving after

The Writer s First Line Generator Summary
The Writer s First Line Generator is a website that has some computer generated assistance if you
are writing. This week wordpress has been encouraging a daily post of flash fiction and it helped
me identify a direction I could take to write my flash fiction post of two days ago.
However, yesterday I went back to the site to see if I could mine it more for inspiration. It
suggested an introduction very, very similar to my post of the twenty fifth. This is what it had for
me:
The afternoon when my brother murdered his wife, I became a millionaire s tailor.
I was unhappy that what seemed promising to get some flash fiction rolling was quickly becoming
redundant.
Frankly, this sentence seems a little strange; it was refreshing to have a jump off point two days
ago for flash fiction, but the same general composition would likely result if I went from there.
However, tonight, I m thinking about it, and suddenly I realize I can go to the Content Creation

Whereas in reality a mogul might have more of an impact than the life of a tailor, in fiction that
tailor may be more clearly defined as the protagonist and therefore of greater relevance to the story
going forward from the introduction suggested by the Writer s Line Generator. A reader could well

Japanese Culture And Japanese Food
Japanese cuisine and its development Rice serves with vegetable, and fish are the main
traditional meal in Japanese cuisine. According to Reading Food in Modern Japanese
Literature: Lunch: 3 bowls rice gruel, half of bonito sashimi (half because it contained some fly
eggs). Had the little yellowtail bought for supper made into sashimi, but did not eat it as it wasn t
nice. 1 bowl miso soup, 3 pieces of rice cracker, one helping shaved ice with lemon syrup
(Aoyama 15). Aoyama shows in these lines that dishes of Japanese traditional meal were simple,
but as Japanese cuisineevolved over the years, it has more different dishes for customers to
choose today. My goal in this paper is to discuss the geographical effect on Japanese cuisine, the
relationship between Zen culture and Japanese cuisine and its development in the world.
Geography are the important effect on food choices in Japanese cuisine. In Japan and the Culture
of the Four Seasons : Nature, Literature, and the Arts, Shirane provided specific places as an
example to illustrated that the position determines what chefs would choose to cook Japanese
cuisine, With the shift of the capital to Edo (Tokyo), two major port cities (Edo and Osaka)
became the cultural and economic centers, moving the general urban perspective from inland
basins (Nara and Kyoto) to the coast and the sea, which became an important source of food
(Shirane 176). So the position of Japan surrounds by coasts and seas is the main reason that

Mars was believed to look like. Bradbury goes on to set this expedition in context

Comparing Newcomb s Encoding And Decoding

denotation or encoding of the producers and the connotation or decoding of the televisual

and Paul Hirsch in Television as a Cultural Forum there exist three basic categories of potential
readings of a singular text within the broad range of potential interpretations: dominant or
preferred, negotiated, and oppositional, each of which depends on the ideological, political, and

Watership Down Have you ever wondered how rabbits lived? How they get food or sleep or live?
This book tells you about that and it also tells of an adventure of a couple rabbits trying to find a
new Warren. The beginning of the story start off in a warren. The two main characters are Hazel
and his brother Fiver. Fiver is a special rabbit, meaning he knows when something is not right and
can sense it. One night Fiver got the sense that something bad was going to happen to their
warren. He told Hazel about it. Hazel knew that when Fiver got these feelings he was mostly
right. They went to the chief and told him about it, however, the chief did not believe them.
When they went back to their whole they decided they would leave the next night, and maybe
get some rabbits to go with them. They would have to keep it on the down low so they wouldn t
get caught by the Owsla. Owsla was like the rabbits body guard for the chief and acted like police
officers to the other rabbits. They would pick the biggest and the strongest of the rabbits. They left
the next night with a good group of rabbits. The rabbits who went were Bigwig, Blackberry, Silver,

while they were eating and resting they heard a noise. All the rabbits went into the warren and
Hazel and another rabbit went to see what the noise was. They found out that it was Holly and
Bluebell. Holly was the captain of the Owsla and Bluebell was one of the Owsla. They knew
Bigwig and was looking for him. Just like Fiver instinct told him their warren was in danger.

the intricate steps of her dance. Her cheeks flushed and her eyes blazed with a heat which drew
him like a moth to a flame. Around and around she swirled and kicked to the music of the
bagpipes. As she spun around, he could see her beautiful long legs and the sweet curve of her
rounded bottom. Her waist, he realized he could circle with his hands. Her bust was full and
appeared to be a plump handful. Her complexion was pale as peaches he d read about in books
from her world. While he enjoyed her dance, passion heated his blood, and Mackenzie
recognized she was the young woman from his dream. Skye loved the dancing and the way she

Icek Ajzen Theory Of Planned Behavior
Theory of Planned Behavior Dana Hall
In today s society, we have a mental health crisis that affects everyone, especially the veteran
population. Mental health crisis range from one extreme to another being death, suicide or
homicide. A goal for health care providers is to prevent these types of those extremes from
happening. The most widely used social cognition model for predicting and explaining health
behavior is the Theory of Planned Behavior (Ogden, 2003).
Icek Ajzen s Theory of Planned Behavior was used as a framework to explain the relationship
between one s attitude and behavior and whether or not it can be predicted and or prevented.
What the Theory of Planned Behavior focuses on are three kinds of views, behavioral beliefs,
normative beliefs and control beliefs (Ajzens, 1971). Atzens suggests that behavioral beliefs
focus on the likelihood of the outcome of behavior and the evaluation and whether or not they
have a positive or negative attitude toward the behavior itself. Normative belief focuses on the
expectations of others and the motivation to comply with those said expectations and if it is
viewed as a result of social pressure or subjective norm (Ajzens, 1971). Control beliefs go on to
focus on factors that may positively or negatively influence performance of that behavior and the
thought power of those factors and perceived behavioral control. When you consider all of these
three views, you develop behavioral intention (1971). It is suggested

Lady Mary s literary reputation chiefly rests on 52 superb Turkish embassy letters, which she
wrote after her return as the ambassador s wife in Constantinople, using her actual letters and
journals as source material. (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica) The letters were published
in 1763 from an unauthorized copy and were acclaimed throughout Europe. Later editions of her
letters, sanctioned by her family, added selections from her personal letters together with most of
her poetry. The Complete Letters of Lady Mary Wortley Montagu,3 vol. (ed. Robert Halsband,
1965 67), was the first full edition of Lady Mary s letters. (The Editors of Encyclopædia

Essay on Smoking in America
Smoking in America
In the United States today, more than forty six million Americans are addicted to cigarettes. More
people have died due to cigarette smoking than from narcotic drugs, World Wars I and II, and the
Vietnam War combined (Bailey 1). The annual death toll for cigarette smoking is more than four
hundred thousand Americans a year, and is the number one preventable cause of death in the
United States. If Americans are aware of the lethal effects of smoking, why is it still so popular?
Guy Smith, a Phillip Morris TobaccoCompany executive, claims that their research shows that
advertising is the top reason people start smoking (Bailey 34). Most people will argue that this is
not true because the do not like to be sold and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A major issue today in tobacco advertisement is the controversy over ads targeting children and
teenagers. The two companies under the most fire for their advertisements are Marlboro and
Camel. Marlboro uses a fictional Marlboro Man, while Camel uses a high rolling and
sophisticated cartoon character, Joe Camel. Camel has been attacked by several Tobacco free

cigarettes are not harmless. They have to know that their ads are influencing children under ten to
begin smoking, but choose not to stop creating them (Thomas). Researchers have conducted
studies that show six year olds recognize Joe Camel as well as they recognize Mickey Mouse.
Every industry denies that their advertising goal targets people under twenty one, and they claim
their goal is to simply promote brand switching and brand loyalty (Breo). Jeff Pearlman sums up the
attitude of the tobacco and advertising industries by saying, Is the use of a cartoon character in an
ad proof that you are targeting children ? If so, what about the Pink Panther selling insulation or
Snoopy promoting insurance? (Bill Clinton...). The media and the entertainment industries have a
major impact on smoking. With the help of movies and television, smoking seems

  • 2. Drinking And College Students Drinking in college is a popular activity to take part in. However, that does not mean it is healthy or useful. Alcohol companies feed off college students. Their advertising is directed at underage drinkers, and many college students fall into that category. So, why do these young adults drink? The answer is in the ads, the alcoholcompanies are promoting fun times and joyous lives. Therefore, the underage students see drinking as a social normand think they might even have a better life after they start drinking. Nonetheless, people know the cold hard truth about alcohol, it is an unhealthy and even deadly substance. Colleges need to fix their alcohol advertising and drinking problems by dropping their alcohol sponsors and promoting healthier lifestyles along with showing the students that you do not need to drink to become popular, which in turn eliminates underage drinking and the harm that goes along with alcohol consumption. Whether alcohol companies will admit that their advertising is focused on underage people and more specifically underage college students, it is the truth. Multiple tests and surveys have been conducted on students and the effect that alcohol adverting through social media has on them. In Carrotte s article about this topic, she conducts a study on a large group of students and young adults with a median age of 21.1 years old. It is teamwork that remains the ultimate competitive advantage, both because it is so powerful and so rare. A friend of mine, the founder of a company that grew to a billion dollars in annual revenue, best expressed the power of teamwork when he once told me, If you could get all the people in an organization rowing in the same direction, you could dominate any industry, in any market, against any competition, at any time. Whenever I repeat that adage to a group of leaders, they immediately nod their heads, but in a desperate sort of way. They seem to grasp the truth of it while simultaneously surrendering to the impossibility of actually making it happen. And that is where the rarity of teamwork comes into play. • 5. Fresh Fruit, Broken Bodies By Seth Holmes When thinking of Mexican American immigrants what comes to mind? The American public consistently listens to the media telling stories of how these people cross the border illegally, which is deemed as a crime. Immigrants are portrayed just as stealing American jobs and benefiting from government programs such as welfare. Countless people think it was a voluntary action for them to come to the United State, therefore whatever comes their way is what they deserve regardless if it is health problems, racism or low paying jobs. However, what most of American people don t realize is that the majority of Mexican migrants are forced to migrate to the United State in order to survive. They constantly risk their lives to cross a dangerous border in order to find the jobs that the American people don t want to endure. In the book called Fresh Fruit, Broken Bodies , the author, Seth Holmes focuses on the lives of an indigenous Mexican group called the Triquis. Throughout the book, he focuses on the journey of the group from their hometown of Oaxaca to farms in California and Washington. The book also emphasizes how racism and health problems of migrant workers have become invisible to the American people. It is commonly seen that their personal damage such as health problems and placement on the social hierarchy system is only to be blamed on their sole decision to come to a country where they are considered illegal. Instead of blaming the Triqui people for their sickness, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Biography of Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn was the premier artist in 17th century Europe during the great Golden Age of Dutch painting, well known for his Dutch Baroque style of art that lead to his title as one of the greatest painters in history. His incredible brush technique and his masterful appreciation of human nature combined to create a humongous impact on his peers as well as influencing tons of artists of later years.1 He was born on July 15, 1606, in Leiden, Netherlands, a small city located in the Dutch province of South Holland. Rembrandtwas born into a large family, the eighth of nine children. His father, Harmen Gerritsz van Rijn, was a miller, and his mother, Neeltgen Willemsd van Zuytbroeck, was the daughter of a baker. Rembrandt studied at Latin school for seven years before enrolling in university in 1620, before leaving after only a few months to become an apprentice to the painter for Jacob Isaacsz van Swanenburgh.2 After working under Jacob Isaacsz van Swanenburgh for three years, Rembrandt left for Amsterdam, to work with Pieter Lastman, in 1624. While many artists in the 17th century felt like they needed to travel to Italy to fulfill their artistic training, Rembrandt never left Holland once in his entire life, taking pride in his Dutch nationality.3 Pieter Lastman was one of the most respected experts in historical paintings in all of Holland, as his inspiration in his works came mostly from mythological, historical, and biblical scenes. As I read the passage I came across syntax which is the war he puts his words to send the reader a message, and ad hominem arguing his point against the person instead of the argument. The Efficacy Of Ck2 Inhibitors Essay AML xenograft model: For the proposed studies to test the efficacy of CK2 inhibitor in AML, we have transduced the human AML cell line, U937 and human APML cell line, HL60 with a lentiviral vector carrying the luciferase gene. The luciferase producing U937 and HL60 cells were injected via the tail vein into NOD.Cg Rag1 Il2rg/SzJ (NRG) mice. After 3 5 days, engraftment of AML cells was confirmed by bioluminescence imaging documenting one log increase in quantitative signal measured by the IVIS Xenogen reader. Pilot results in two animals demonstrate that both U937 and HL60 luciferase producing cells successfully established leukemia (Fig 6). Thus, we have demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed experiments by establishing two luciferase tagged AML murine xenografts models in which to assess therapeutic efficacy of CX 4945. • 13. The Effects Of Alcohol Lowers Blood Glucose Levels By... Alcohol lowers blood glucose levels by stimulating insulin production. This is detected by the beta cells of the pancreatic islets and the secretion of insulin is induced. Each hormone has a very specific protein that it will bind to. These are called hormone receptors and once they are bound to the hormone they stimulate a particular response in the cell. Hormones circulate the bloodstream until they find a cell that has the ideal receptor attached to it. Once insulinis secreted into the bloodstream, the hormone stimulates cells, especially muscle and adipose cells, to take up glucose from the blood. The transport of glucose into cells is done by facilitated diffusion. Glucose cannot get across a membrane unless specific transporters are in the membrane to provide a channel for the glucose to move through. Since it is facilitated diffusion, glucose will be transported from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration (i.e., down the gradient). The transporters of glucose is called GLUT (GLUcose Transporter), the main transporter is GLUT4. As insulin travels through the bloodstream, it finds its specific receptors on the surface of liver cells, muscle cells and adipose cells. When the insulin binds to the insulin receptor on the cell membranes, cells are stimulated to increase the number of glucose transporters. This is an effect allowing the hormone on the outside of the cell to regulate functions inside the cell even though the hormone has not entered the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Which in this case the choices that criminals make brings them pleasure and adrenaline. Criminal choices can be controlled by fear of punishment, but not all the time. The crime will be limited when the benefits are reduced and the costs increase. Rational choice theory is a perspective that holds criminality in the result of conscious choice. Not to mention, that it is predicted that individuals choose to commit crimewhen the benefits outweigh the costs of disobeying the law. In the rational choice theory, individuals are seen as motivated offenders by their needs, wants and goals that express their preferences. This theory has been applied to a wide of range in crime, such as robbery, drug use, vandalism, and white collar crime. Furthermore, rational choice theory had a revival in sociologyin the early 1960s, under the heading of exchange theory, and by the end of the decade was having a renewed influence in criminology, first as control theory and later as routine activities theory. Rational choice theory addresses, criminal behavior in various ways. In addition, this theory also falls short in many places. In the text it says, Mrs. Wynnes, how did you know that cobra was in the room? A faint smile lights up the woman s face as she replies: because it was crawling across my foot. Who could be so calm with a cobra, which can at any moment inject one with venom, crawling across their veins? We can clarify that Mrs. Wynnes is a very spiritual person with multiple techniques to keep clam. Finally, let s take a look at the American Naturalist. In the text it says, The American does not join in the argument but watches the other guests. Just a minute, Mrs. Wynnes, how did you know that cobra was in the room? The American naturalist doesn t tend to the colonel who would most likely get himself killed; instead his curiosity takes over him to know how the cobra was only sensed by the hostess. (Kirsti Samuels, 2007) Civil war has become the dominant type of war in death tolls and severity. It has caused humanitarian destruction on a vast scale, as well as serious disruption of regional and international peace and security. The author Samuels states that her purpose of this work was that she has written this to collate and analyse a broad range of international community practice with respect to civil conflicts and coup d etat, and to investigate how this practice, which has changed in the past 15 years, is shaping international law and policy. (Samuels, 2007). Since the end of the World War II, and especially in the last decade, states, regional organizations, and the UN have become involved in situations of civil conflicts and coups d etat. The international community has also formulated a series of rationales for its actions, ranging from rejecting violence against civilians to rejecting the use of force against domestic governments. The author states that for many years, such responses to civil conflicts and coups took place in the cold war context, and they were largely governed by geopolitical ideology and superpower motives rather than international policy or legal norms. This piece of work will focus on the chapter called The nature and impact of the emerging norms . I chose this particular chapter as it s the most relevant to what Samuel s is trying to address in her book. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This week wordpress has been encouraging a daily post of flash fiction and it helped me identify a direction I could take to write my flash fiction post of two days ago. However, yesterday I went back to the site to see if I could mine it more for inspiration. It suggested an introduction very, very similar to my post of the twenty fifth. This is what it had for me: The afternoon when my brother murdered his wife, I became a millionaire s tailor. I was unhappy that what seemed promising to get some flash fiction rolling was quickly becoming redundant. Mental health crisis range from one extreme to another being death, suicide or homicide. A goal for health care providers is to prevent these types of those extremes from happening. The most widely used social cognition model for predicting and explaining health behavior is the Theory of Planned Behavior (Ogden, 2003). Icek Ajzen s Theory of Planned Behavior was used as a framework to explain the relationship between one s attitude and behavior and whether or not it can be predicted and or prevented. What the Theory of Planned Behavior focuses on are three kinds of views, behavioral beliefs, normative beliefs and control beliefs (Ajzens, 1971). Atzens suggests that behavioral beliefs focus on the likelihood of the outcome of behavior and the evaluation and whether or not they have a positive or negative attitude toward the behavior itself. Normative belief focuses on the expectations of others and the motivation to comply with those said expectations and if it is viewed as a result of social pressure or subjective norm (Ajzens, 1971). Control beliefs go on to focus on factors that may positively or negatively influence performance of that behavior and the thought power of those factors and perceived behavioral control.
