Introduction
The United States transport system is a complex and effective one as compared to that of other nations. It has contributed massively to the economic development of the country since its development. However, the transport system has its drawbacks and negative effects to the nation in general. This paper discusses some the advantages and disadvantages of some of the modes of transport in the U.S transport system.
The U.S Highway System
This consists of the numbered roads and highways integrated in a network between different states. These highways and roads are of economic significance to the residents of U.S and the government. They facilitate fast and easy transport of bulky goods between states. They also facilitate transportation of people between the different states. The drawbacks associated with highway system is that it passes through numerous states with different rules and regulations. Also, much time is spent on the roads and this will not be suitable in the transportation of perishable goods. These two prove to be the major drawbacks associated with the U.S highway system.
The Interstate Highway System
This is a major form of road transport in the United States. It was established in the 1956 when the federal government decided to split the road building costs with the state governments (“The Interstate,” 2014). They consist of roads and wide highways linking different states and also exiting major cities. The advantages of these roads is that supplement the highways and reduce congestion on the roads. They enhance the effectiveness of the roads system. The interstate highways are also designed with multiple lanes with high-speed lanes that enable people to drive faster as compared to the highway (“The Interstate,” 2014). The drawbacks associated with the system started long since their introduction. The roads damaged many city neighborhoods during their construction which inconvenienced the locals (“The Interstate,” 2014). Also, the width and the length of the highways tend to displace many people and occupy land that could be used for better development purposes.

The introduction of the electric trains in the U.S have enabled this to happen. A traffic management system assures the safety of not only car occupants but also pedestrians crossing the road. The work primarily focuses on analysing traffic volume using software and manual counts on two types of roads, namely broad lane and service lane. This study comprises using the Picomixer STA Smart Traffic Analyzer programme to count the number of different types of vehicles, which are classified as light vehicles Cars, SUVs, etc. , medium loading vehicles trucks, minibuses , and heavy vehicles Trucks, Minibuses, etc . Trailers, Big trucks etc. .On the broad lane, traffic peaks during the day and at night, while it remains light and medium during the middle of the day. This trend also affects the rush in the service lane, which follows a similar pattern. Increased traffic and longer signal halt times encourage drivers to use the alternate service lane, which increases congestion in the narrow service lane and raises the danger of accidents. Longer signal halts were discovered to be the most important factor to consider when choosing a service lane. Reduced signal timing can have an impact on typical service lane and broad lane utilisation, as well as traffic management. geographically moves and positions inventory. Transportation system is the physical link connecting a company with the customers, raw material suppliers, plants, ware houses and
distribution channel members. The five basic transportation modes are Rail, Highway, Water, Pipeline.
As is the trend worldwide, India is undergoing rapid urbanization. This means not only that more people than ever before

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research.
