Sound is created by vibrations that travel through air or other mediums and can be heard when they reach an ear. The width of the soundwave determines the pitch and loudness of the sound, with narrower waves creating higher pitches. Every room has acoustic properties that determine how sound is transmitted based on its surfaces. Acoustic treatment helps sounds become dead or absorbed by reducing vibrations. Reverberation refers to the continuation of a sound bouncing off surfaces until it dies out, while reverb describes how long it takes a sound to stop after being produced.
