Unit 4 television
1. Unit 4 - Television
Call the Midwife (5 Minutes)
2. Theme Tune
The purpose of the Theme tune at the beginning is so that it gives us an idea of
what the show is going to be about. For example, if there is sad music in a the
theme tune then we would suggest that the show would be related with sad things
in in. Also, theme tunes can also be used to refer to a signature also know as a main
song in a TV show song that has become especially associated with a particular
performer or notable; often used as they make an entrance. I would say that theme
tunes are effective because it is always played in the beginning and the end.
3. Voiceover
Voiceover is a production technique where a voice that is not part of the narrative.
It is mainly used in a radio, television production, filmmaking, theatre, or other
presentations. The purpose of voiceovers is so that the audience can get a better
understanding of what’s going on. Also, it helps the audience get a better idea of
what’s going on if they don’t understand what’s happening during the show.
Furthermore it helps us to have a easier view of the show as it explains whats going
on during the TV show.
4. Sound Effects
Throughout the show, I witnessed many sound effects. Sound effects such as the
door opening, the man running up the stairs, the baby crying, the kids running
around in the playground and the horn beeping from the car. The purpose of these
sound effects is so that it creates a big effect on the audience because of how it
demonstrates more of what will be happening.
