WhatsApp.
WhatsApp is a texting service between mobile phones as a replacement for the
regular SMS text messages. Over 900 million users are active worldwide using the
WhatsApp service. WhatsApp uses an internet connection between phones. The
service is available for iPhone, Blackberry, Android and Nokia Symbian60-phones.
WhatsApp is owned by Facebook, WhatsApp was founded by Brian Acton, and Jam
Koum recent workers for Yahoo. WhatsApp first came about when both Brian and
Jam went to apply for a job within Facebook, they had no luck with getting the job
so then decided to create and IPhone App, they first started their development of
WhatsApp in 2009, where it provide to be a huge success and become increasingly
popular.
Finally in November 2009, the app was released to Apple, and the Blackberry
version was released 2 months after.
WhatsApp aim is to allow users to stay in contact with their loves ones, WhatsApp
is now brought over and owned by Facebook, which has now made the app worth
billions.

The Purpose of WhatsApp.
• The main purpose of WhatsApp for social media users is that they
are able to communicate with friends and family internationally
without the traditional international communication charges.
• WhatApp is the result of electronic cross breeding between instant
messenger services and social media. WhatsApp is the means of
mediated communication for generations for children raised on
either medicated communication on social media sites like
WhatsApp.
• WhatsApp is available on Apple,Android,Windows,Nokia.This is
nearly all mobile devices which WhatsApp is available on, although
WhatsApp is only limited to mobile devices as it is for messaging
mostly and people would use this when they are out.

Purpose of WhatsApp-Slogan
• WhatsApp’s slogan is “Simple, Personal, Real Time Messaging". The verbal code of the Slogan
connotes how easy it is to stay in touch and message people with WhatsApp.
• “Personal” makes the user feel WhatsApp is unique with each person, and is for them only.
• By saying the app is “real time messaging”, this ‘signifies’ (De Saussure) that WhatsApp is quick
and simple with no delay when you are trying to message people.
• WhatsApp also has a slogan which when users download the app onto their mobile device, it
will appear on the home screen saying “Cross-Platform Mobile messaging with friends all over
the world". This is a positive way of getting people to download the app, whereby they are
conveying that their app will allow users to stay in contact with each other wherever they are in
the world, which allows people to staying in contact with their loved ones.

WhatsApp Content.
• WhatsApps offers everything Facebook, Instagram and
Snap Chat offers. WhatsApp allows social media users to
send pre-recorded videos to each other as well as pre-
recorded audio notes. They are also able to send free
texts and communicate with others by using emojis, and
all of the above with one interaction.
Group Chats:
• WhatsApp allows users to create group chats with each
other, this means people are able to communication with
more than one person at a time.
Emoji's:
• People are also able to use the iPhone emoji's, on
WhatsApp, which means that the chat is more interactive.
Interface:
• WhatsApp's interface is very neat and professional
looking, their interface is also easy to use and easy to
navigate for any users.

WhatsApp Analyzed.
Broadcast a message or Group: Users can click on these two
buttons to create a broadcast message which they are able to
tick on, certain users they want to send the broadcast message
to. They are then also able to click on the ‘new group’ button
which allows them to make a new group by clicking, picking
who they want to be in the group, as well as this they can also
name the group whatever they want.
Number of Messages: by each chat you will have a
number depending on how many messages that user
has sent you. As well as this you can also see what
time the user sent these messages to you.
Profile image: Their will be you display
image or profile picture displayed next to the
chat, users are able to go on your chat, and
click onto your profile and view your picture.
Here is the navigation bar, here you are able to click on your
favorites by this you can edit your favorites and put peoples
numbers in there which, you tend to message more often then
others. This also has a section where you can upload a status, such
as ‘cant talk’ ‘busy’ etc. this will then be shown on your profile, and
when people click on your chat.
Here is the settings section, this is where users are
able to go on settings, edit their profile, change their
chat background, and other features.

Target User/Membership.
• The types of people who use WhatsApp are generally most ages starting from around
15+, WhatsApp is a huge communication platform, most people tend to use WhatsApp
rather than regular SMS messaging is that WhatsApp allows people to communicate
with people free of charge. WhatsApp is becoming so popular as there is a free of
charge when communicating with people overseas, and while on holiday
communicating with others back home.
• WhatsApp is becoming more popular with the younger generation as they are able to
create groups on WhatsApp with their friends and communicate all together, younger
people also use WhatsApp are social creatures and are open to lots of different social
media platforms.

Theories:
When it comes to Katz’ theory WhatsApp users would divert from day to day life as they
would use WhatsApp to escape to reality, this also links in with WhatsApp groups where
they can communicate with others and escape from day-to-day life. When it comes to
Maslow they would be “social Climbers” because they are driven by the change in social
media and what goes on in the social media world, and that they are attracted to keep up
with it, they are also driven to keeping up with gossip and what is going on in peoples lives
such as being “materialistic”
When it comes to the socio-economic needs WhatsApp is generally used by most ages,
although people who fit into the category E would like WhatsApp over any other form of
social media as WhatsApp is free to download, and is free to send messages. As the
majority of people in category E are either students or have a small job.
Lastly, when it comes to Hartley's theory WhatsApp is open to all races, ages and genders
as there isn't a specific person that can or cant have WhatsApp, the reason why is it
appealing to all genders and ages and races is because it has the ability for users to save
money, and that anything where something is free is more likely to draw people in.

Legal and Ethical Issues.
• WhatsApp has many legal and ethical issues they have to take into consideration and ensure
that they follow by.
• WhatsApp has been founded guilty of breaching privacy laws because it forces users to grant
access to their entire contacts, it contains all the information, which user may not want to be
used.
• Social Affects of WhatsApp:
Negative Affects:
There is a negative affect behind WhatsApp by this users can only use the app if the other person
has downloaded it to their phone, as well as this they can only send messages to people if they
have internet connection, this could be a negative affect as people may get worried that they
aren’t able to stay in connection with users because of the lack of internet.
WhatsApp can be an unwelcome distraction to people, by this teenagers are constantly on their
phone as they want to ensure that they stay up to date with their friends and their conversations,
therefore this results in people not being able to concentrate on day to day tasks.
WhatsApp also has the negative affect of cyber bulling, as well as your are able to create groups
on WhatsApp this could be a trigger to bully people on a group of a number of people.
Positive Affects:
Forming a Community: WhatsApp is able to form a community with people, as users are able to
connect with other(if they have the app) they can also create WhatsApp groups with each other
where they can talk to multiply people.
WhatsApp also creates a seamless operation with users, WhatsApp has lots of features such as
uploading of the files including the images and videos. Once the application is installed it can
automatically save images which users send to you, and these will save automatically to your
camera roll although users can change this by going on to settings.

• WhatApp has had security flaws since its launch back in early 2012, with one hacker
releasing a Windows tool to show how easy it is to change users statuses. There has been a
latest find with even non-users of the app being drawn into privacy data dispute with the
app. The International law clearly states that ‘Data should only be kept "for so long as it is
required for the fulfilment of an identification purpose". "This lack of choice contravenes
privacy law," said Jacob Kohnstamm, chairman of the Dutch Data Protection Authority, in
a statement. "Both users and non-users should have control over their personal data and
users must be able to freely decide what contact details they wish to share with
WhatsApp.“

the Act, as WhatsApp have not followed the rules of the Date Protection Act they could be
fined £500,000. Facebook was also told to delete all data, including phone numbers,
already forwarded by WhatsApp. The company has said it will appeal against both orders.
There was a policy change of the app and users were given 30 days to opt in or out of the
changes, or face not being able to access the app.

Twitter.
Twitter is an online news and social networking service where users post and read short 140-
character messages called "tweets". Registered users can post and read tweets, but those
who are unregistered can only read them.
Twitter users are able to broadcast tweets and follow other users, via multiple platforms and
devices. You are able to tweet and respond to certain tweets and air your views.
Unlike Facebook, LinkedIn where members have to approve social connections between
each other, anyone can follow you on twitter unless you make your twitter private this is
where your tweets are protected and none can view them without them requesting to follow
you.
Users are able to use emoji's on twitter as well as using hashtags on certain subjects.
Twitter was first founded in March 2006 in San Francisco, California.
Over the years more tweets have been posted every day, there are around 6000 tweets
tweeted per second and around 500 million tweets everyday, therefore this totals up to
around 200 billion tweets in a year.
This proves Twitter is extremely popular, and increasing in grow.Secondaly, 22.6% Twitter
users are under 25, and 21.5% are ages 25-34.

• The purpose of Twitter is to allow others to communicate with others. Twitter also
allows people to air their views on subjects with others as well as keeping up to date
with what is happening in the world, whether that is news related or celebrity and

friends accounts and celebrities which they like, and like to follow to keep up to date

the app that Twitter is such a large social media site that you are able to discover anything
on there that you want. This gives users a sense of freedom, linking into the theory of Katz

Although there could be a negative side of the verbal code, as people who are too young to
have Twitter are now able to access it a lot more easily which therefore could result in the
finding something inappropriate, or this could also result in cyber bullying increasing.

• The types of content which is seen on Twitter are important subjects like
news related, Celebrity related which allows users to stay connected with
what is happening in the world instead of watching the news. Or users will
just genially to keep in contact with friends which allows users to stay

news.
• They will also use Twitter to stay up to date with big news headlines as
they would go there for recency and instant news.
• Other content includes things like celebrity statuses and what is going on
in their lives, which could prove an interest to some as they may aspire to
be like them.
• Users are able to like certain posts, or retweet them which pulls up the
tweet and puts it onto their twitter profile, and therefore means that
anyone following them will see this.
• The use of hashtags are important as it can send a direct link to the users,
as is another means of staying connected with events.

This button, allows users to create a ‘tweet’ in this

limit of 140 characters. Users can also tweet out
images, videos or gifs to those who they follow.

tweets from people, and pages will come up that

which the people that they are following have

the home button, which users will click on to get
themselves back to the homepage, they will then
also be able to click on the ‘notification’ button this
is where if someone has tagged them in a tweet it
will pop up here, as well if someone has followed
them, liked a tweet or image or retweeted it.
Here is the message tab this is where all the users messages will be
stored, these messages are private and only the user can see them.
Finally, there is also a ‘me’ button, this is where by clicking on this
will take you straight to your profile page, where you profile image
will be displayed and your tweets, through the profile page users are
able to access the ‘settings’ section and edit their twitter, such as
change password, make their twitter protected and more.

• The main users of Twitter tend to be younger people like teenagers this is because
some could say Twitter is too technical and that people of an older generation
wouldn’t understand how to use Twitter.
• Young people use Twitter to stay up to date with any gossip which is happening. They
would also use Twitter as they may follow celebrities which they take an interest in.
• Although, Twitter is used by people of a high status such as the Prime Minister has
the Twitter, as well as TV programmes have their own twitter such as BBC News
people who aren't teenagers may therefore have a twitter account to air their views
politically.

Positives of Twitter:
• One positive factor of Twitter is its simplicity, once you are signed up to Twitter which is a very quick
and easy process it is very easy to use from there on.
• Celebrities talk like "real" people without agents/producers/editors getting in the way. And the best

• It is a good way to keep up to date with current affairs- or news users are able to go on Twitter if their

Negatives of Twitter:
• It links in with the habit of people having short attention spans, as users want to keep up with everyday
life and gossip which diverts them from their day to day life.
• Some people may not like Twitter because it has a character limit of 140 characters which may anger
some people, as they may not be able to get their point across within a 140 limit.
• The increase of ‘fake celebrity’ account – could anger some fans.
• Its hard to maintain a professional image- this could affect how you act on Twitter to actual life, doing
this could create an bad image for you which would reflect on your job.
• Twitter can become very addictive.
• Lastly, there is always a risk of cyber bullying- making fake accounts ‘ trolling’ other users.

Legal and Ethical Issues
• Twitter is a very easy site to use, some of the disadvantages would
be that some may find the 140 character limit too restricting like
any other social media sites.
• Additionally, Twitter is similar to other social media sites, this is
where people can experience “cyber bullying”, Twitter is based
around the idea of tweeting expressing your views rather than
tweeting visual content, compared to Facebook which is a mixture
of everything.
• Twitter is well-known for celebrities having “twitter feuds” or just
generally them commenting on other. An example of this was when
actor “Chris Rock” just days after being annoced the host of the
Oscars, made a comment about Lamar Odom and Khloe
Kardashians relationship, the post he made people found it every
controversial as it wasn’t long after Lamar Odom was found
unconscious at a brothel, due to an overdose, this was a big media
issue as fans of Khloe’s and Lamar took to Twitter to air their view
as it has been a long process for Lamar to recover from the incident.
• This shows the celebrities can impact Twitter and give it an negative
side which doesn't’t help the younger audience who aspire to be
like certain celebrities.
• Although, on Chris’s behalf this could be a defamation as Chris Rock
may not have known the full extent of the issue, and may have only
heard the story through articles being “sensationalized”

• Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has been accused of breaching patient confidentiality by
tweeting a photo to 70,000 Twitter follows from a recent hospital visit. Jeremy came under
fire as he tweeted an image of himself with medics at University Collage Hospital in London,
which behind captured a image listing patients on the ward in the background.
• Plenty of people took to Twitter to air their view of the image/tweet. Users wrote things such
as ‘if I tweeted a photo with patient information to over 70,000 people I would deserve to
lose my job as a NHS worker’.

Snapchat.
Snapchat is an popular mobile app that allows you to send videos and pictures, both of
which will self destruct after a few seconds of a person viewing them. Snapchat is also a
fun messaging app. You can take a photo or a video with it, then add a caption or doodle
or lens graphic over top, and send it to a friend.
Snapchat was created by Evan Spiegell, Bobby Murphy and Reggie Brown.Snapchats
initial release date was September 2011.
Snapchat evolved into a mix of private messaging and public content, including brand
networks, publications and live events such as sports and music. according to survey
studies conducted in March 2016, the personal oriented messaging was still being
accessed by users more than the publicly offered content that was being presented. 71%
of users surveyed said that they preferred the app for its chat, messaging, and imaging
services, versus 5% who almost exclusively chose the various events, published features,
and media content on a daily basis.

The Purpose Of Snapchat.
• Snapchat is also a fun messaging app. You can
take a photo or a video with it, then add a
caption or doodle or lens graphic over top, and
send it to a friend. Alternatively, you can add it to
your story, once it has been added to your story it
will stay on their for 24 hours, and you are able to
build up your story with a collection of videos or
pictures over a time peroid.You are able to show
your story to everyone or just the people that
follow you on snapchat.

Snapchat’s Content.
• Snapchat has features such as the camera
button which allows you to take pictures,
you are also able to create 10 second video
by holding down the camera button. You are
also able to apply filters on top of your
snapchat or video once you have created it.
• Due to a recent update on snapchat you are
now able to apply funny filters to your
snapchats by holding down on your face and
then choosing the filter then snapping the
picture.
• Snapchat also has geographical tags where
it links to your location, and you are able to
put on your snapchat where your location is.

Here is where all the users ‘friends’ snap
chat stories will be shown these stories
last for 10 seconds only, and will
disappear within 24 hours of uploading
them to their story.

snapchat, users are able to look at other
peoples stories which have uploaded
them to the specific discover story, and
these can be viewed from anyone around
the world, even if your not friends with
them on snapchat.
Here is the camera, where people can click
back onto their camera, and take a snap and
send it to whoever on their friends list or
upload it to their story.

• The main target user for Snapchat is young teenagers, this is because Snapchat is a fun
app where people are able to snapchat funny pictures, draw on pictures with the pen
tool and add filters and send them to their friends.
• Although, snapchat is more popular with the younger generation, it is now becoming
more popular with the older generation this is due to the new animated filters which
you can apply over the top of pictures.

October.
• The new lenses feature allows users to take a picture or video of
themselves and add different animated filters to the shot. They also include
other brands such as Pepsi and Rimmel Make-up as well as promoting new
films which have just been released.
• With the increase in people downloading and using Snapchat, this creates
and increase in demand for the creators of Snapchat as they want to make
sure that users stay interested in the app as much as they can therefore,
releasing new filters and features.
• Snapchat also creates a revenue with other companies on the ‘discover’
part of snapchat this is where snapchat partners up with companies such
as ‘Sky News’ and the ‘Daily Mail’. In this snapchat will be partnered up
with these brands, and snapchat will ask for a cost from these companies
as they are advertising and promoting their brands.

Legal and Ethical Issue.
Negative and Positive Factors of SnapChat:
Legal and ethical issues also apply to Snapchat, users should
use Snapchat in the correct way, and not abuse Snapchat.
Some users say that Snapchat should remove the screenshot
feature as people should be aware of what is being sent and
said on Snapchat.
Snapchat has also Made it easier for cyber stalkers to send
pictures of people without their consent, it is now a lot
easier for these cyber bullies to send embarrassing pictures
of others.
There also is an element of breaching privacy of some
people as pictures are stored on the receivers' phones and
on the app servers. Receiver can screenshot the snap.
Care about privacy of users and employes' jobs
Be self-conscious about the nature of the pictures users send

Snapchat on Wednesday released a new update for
its app and, with it, a new privacy policy that
dramatically changes what the social network can do
with the images users post. First launched in 2011,
the social networking app became popular among
young people in particular for its “disappearing”
photo messages that can’t be viewed again once they
have been opened. But an update to the Snapchat
Terms of Service indicates that Snapchat has the
rights to reproduce, modify and republish your
photos and save those photos to Snapchat’s servers,
specifically in relation to the ‘Live Story’ feature.
Users can now hold down on the Snapchat a reply it,
for another 10 seconds.
Users don’t like that fact that they have changed the
terms of service and privacy policy of the app and
that users feel that more of their personal data, is
now more easy to be accessed by others this has
resulted in users deleting their Snap Chat account.

Data Protection Act(1998).
• The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) is a United Kingdom Act of Parliament
which defines the law on the processing of data on identifiable living
people and is the main piece of legislation that governs the data
protection.
• Social media products need to confirm within the legislations of the Data
Protection Act 1998.Although, when you process any personal information
the Data Protection Act will not apply. This is evident in section 36 of the
act where it states that “personal data processed by an individual only for
the purpose of that individual or their family, the act doesn’t apply to
them in this case”.
• Although this changes if you are an organization section 36 cannot be used
this is because they have responsibilities under the Data Protection Act
which are “if they post personal data on their website or anyone else's,
and that if they run a website which includes third parties personal
information where people are able to comment about people, this
therefore is apart of the Data Protection Act and cannot be done.

• When it comes to Twitter, if you are a Twitter users
and you live in the United States then your Twitter
will be controlled by them, and will control all your
information but if you live outside the United States
then your information isn't controlled and comes
under the “Twitter international Company”.
• In Twitters privacy policy your name and your
username will be used in your profile, although users
have the decision whether or not they want to
include their phone number onto their Twitter.
• Although, this is different when it comes to
WhatsApp because to have WhatsApp you have to
include personal information to have the app running
such as your name and phone number, although
users should be aware that including your number
will be protected as other can only see your number
if they have you as a contact.

• In my opinion I think that social media does erode normal social
behavior because a lot of people use social media to communicate
with others and keep in touch, and up to date with what their
friends are up to. I also think that it does create social behavior

groups and if their not communicating verbally with each other
then they are likely to communicating over social media. Through

social media compared to in person face
to face interaction.

could mean that these users are not
acting normal because none know who is

• WhatsApp doesn't’t advertise products with the app, and that they
explain this in their blog as to why they don’t advertise.
• The reason for this is because WhatsApp feel that in advertising
within their app will disrupt the aesthetics of the product itself.
• WhatsApp then went on to further explain that there is no demand
for adverts from users, and that if there was then they could
interrupt then from using the app.For example if a user is in the
middle of an important conversation and then an advert appears
across their screen, this is going to break up the users conversation
and that if this would to continue to happen this could become very
annoying to the user.

As you can see via my evidence, here are
screenshots of what people think of twitter you
have one really good review where someone has
given Twitter a 5 star rating briefly saying that
Twitter works perfectly for them and that they use
Twitter on a daily basis.
Although, there are some bad reviews
about Twitter such as some people said
that they’ve been a member of Twitter for
a few years and found that the members
of staff who control Twitter aren't aware
of those who are getting harassed an that

Here are some of the users reviews and their thoughts about WhatsApp, users said
that the set up of WhatsApp was fairly easy and that they rated this 7/10.
They also began rating factors such as the features giving them a 9/10, they also
rated the performance of WhatsApp a 9/10.So by these rates WhatsApp got an
overall rating of 8.3 out of 10 which demonstrates that WhatsApp is a popular app
with its users and they enjoy the app.
Although, with WhatsApp having
plenty of positive reviews, there are
also negative reviews as WhatsApp
isn’t for everyone.

masculine men labelled “lads” .

In this question as you can see I asked what
age bracket people who answered by survey
fell into, by the results 100% of people I
asked fell into the group 16-18 years, this
shows how the majority of people who use
social media are teenagers.

First Idea Purpose.
• My first idea is based on Twitter and WhatsApp.
My social media app is going to allow users to be
able to text and communicate with other on
personal chat groups as well as send each other
images or videos, as well as this, which is where I
am linking Twitter into it this is where users are
going to be able to tweet their views about things
or retweet and favorite certain Tweets and this will
be visible on peoples timelines.

Colour Scheme and Font Styles-First Idea.
As I have taken inspiration from two social media sites Twitter and WhatsApp I have decided
to have my colour scheme based around their particular colours.
The colours I will be using are, Light Blue for the main parts of the social media site, as well
as using White within the Logo on the App and for the chat background, which people will
be able to customize themselves. I will also be using black for the font colour and the writing
within the logo and this will stand out against the bright colours.
I decided to take inspiration from the App Twitter, as I liked the colour scheme they have, as
well as this I chose the colour blue as Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body. It
slows human metabolism and produces a calming effect. Blue is strongly associated with
tranquility and calmness. In heraldry, blue is used to symbolize piety and sincerity.
I also decided to take inspiration from WhatsApp as it was one social media site which I was
really interested in and use a lot myself.

Here are my font style ideas, I
have decided to go with simple
font ideas even though I want my
app to be professional I want then
main focus to be the content.
I have decided to go with the first
font style this is because it is
professional looking I have chosen
this font as it is bold, and
therefore will stand out against
my color scheme, as the colors I
am using are simple and elegant
therefore this works well with the
professional look that my house
colors give off.

Format and Style
• Homepage:
This is going to be where the newsfeed will be as well, seeing the drop down sections
such as “settings” “inbox” ect.This also is going to be where it will come up with
“suggested people” to follow will be.
• Profile page:
This is going to be where your profile page is this is where it will be a feed of what
you have posted as well as anything you have shared on your profile.. This is also
going to be where it will show you who you are following and who is following you.
• Friends:
You are able to see your friends by clicking onto your “profile page” and click on the
“followers” which will be followed by a number depending on who is following you.
This will then show you who is following you as well as if you are following them
which will be shown via a small button.
• Settings:
This is accessed via a button on the homepage, this is where it will show the Data
Protection Act and any terms and conditions regarding the app itself, this is also
where you are able to edit your profile such as changing your email or your password.
• Inbox:
This is where you are able to message people privately and this is where your will
have a list of your conversations which will stay there as long as you delete them
yourself.

Copyright Information.
• The copyright information for my social media app will be put in the
settings section of my app.This will allow the reader to read the list
of terms and conditions regarding the app.Within the copyright
information it will also list what my app with show and wont show
regarding personal information, I will also have evidence that my
app is registered trademark which is copyright protected.
• The copyright information will go in the settings page this is
because not all users will be interested in the copyright section such
as teenagers they would more interested in the app itself, therefore
it wont distract users from the content of the app.Although,for
those who are interested in the copyright information I will be
putting it in the “settings” as it is easy to locate and this means the
user wont have to browse through every page and link to find the
copyright information.

Purpose.
• The Social Hunt is a mobile app focused
around a community shopping experience. If
you are looking for a particular item and
don’t know where to find it you can start a
Social Hunt by posting a picture and the
community will solve your Hunt by posting
links to stores where you can purchase it, as
well as this if someone sees an item you are
looking for an happen to be selling it this is
where you are able to purchase it.
• If you’re an expert shopper or love a
challenge, you can help other people looking
for particular items. As well as this you are
also able to sell items on your page which
may prove to be a interest to some, and
maybe what they are looking for. Social Hunt
is also a great place to browse and discover
new trends and stores.

• My App will compete with other social media
platforms like Pinterest, and BlogLovin’. My
app will be competing against these two as my
app has aspects from both products as I took
inspiration from both of them, this is because
as Pinterest and BlogLovin’ are popular apps
this may make them interested in mine if they
see similar factors.

other apps which do this as well which will

• Pages:
There are 6 main pages for Social Hunt, Sign Up, Home, Profile,
Trending, Latest and Search.
• Home Page:
On the home page there is going to be a news feed of things
that you are interested in, this information is gathered during
the sign up process where it tells you to click on as many
things as you want which you take an interest in such as
Fashion,Sport,Make Up, Electronics ect.This is then finalized
where the app will bring up anything to do with them items
and put them into categories, this is where users can then
gather information and idea or even buy items that they like.
There will also be a button in which users are able to post
pictures, or status which can get sent out this will be seen via
people who follow them or if there is a topic that many people
are talking about this will come under the trending section.

Content
• Profile:
This is going to be your own personal page, users will be able to
design their own page by choosing a color and theme, as well as
choosing their own profile picture, this is also where users will see
their own posts as well as seeing from the number under their profile
picture how many people they are following and who follows them.
• Trending:
This is where users can click on this button, this will bring up a list of
things which are currently trending, as well as this, this shows users
what most people are hunting for.
• Latest:
This shows users what the latest items are and the most popular
ones, (latest trends).
• Search:
This is where users can search for particular items or they can search
for someone's profile page.

Target Audience.
• When it comes to the socio-economics' my target they would fit into the category A-
E when it comes to the socio-economic needs, however when it comes to the
demographics they are more likely to be in category E because my target audience
will likely teenagers and young people therefore they are likely going to use social
media as a form of communications to keep up to date with others. Although my
some of my target audience may fit into the category B which is for those who are
of a middle management such as teachers, fashion teachers, and those of a creative
mind who may use my app for some inspiration.
• As well as those who are not only interested in fashion, but other categories.
• They would be “diversion” this is because they would use my social media site, so
that they are able to escape from reality, and day to day life.
• When it comes to Maslow they would be “social Climbers” this is because they are
driven by the change in social media and what goes on in the social media world,
and that they are attracted to keep up with it, they are also driven to keeping up
with gossip and what is going on in peoples lives such as being “materialistic". They
would also be “social climbers” as they are driven by change such as the latest
fashion ideas.

Terms and Privacy.
• Terms and Privacy is used to tell users what information will be gathered and
stored on the Social Hunt Site.
• This is important to state in the terms and Privacy as it is important the users
known what information we will be collecting, as well as this means we will
be gaining the users trust.
• ALL personal information is kept very privately, depending on how private
they want their information to be this can be done on their own behalf.
Such as:
• Blocking a User- You will be able to block certain users, doing this means that
it stops then from viewing your page and the things you post. A benefit of this
feature is that it lowers the risk of “Trolling”.
• No Name- The no name feature is linked with the blocking feature by this the
person you have blocked when it comes to searching for your name, as you
have blocked them they wont be able to search you as your name wont come
up.
• Viewing-This links in with the No Name and Blocking user feature by this the
user will not be able to look up information on our site regarding you, as you
have blocked them.

Terms and Conditions.
• There are terms and conditions in which are within the policy of Social Hunt,
these rules must be followed by all users of Social Hunt to ensure their stay on
Social Hunt, if these rules aren’t followed correctly then this will result in
consequences of possibly their account getting shut down.
• Post, upload, publish, submit, provide access to or transmit any Content that
infringes, misappropriates or violates a third party’s patent, copyright,
trademark, trade secret, moral rights, or other intellectual property rights, or
rights of publicity or privacy.
• Fail to pay for items purchased by you, unless you have a valid reason as set
out in our Social Hunt Policy.
• Post false, inaccurate, misleading, deceptive content.
• Distribute viruses or any other technologies that may harm Social Hunt or the
interests or property of users.
• Copyright is not acceptable.
• Disrupting or ‘Trolling’ other users will be met with consequences.

Synergy.
• There will be synergy with Instagram this is where
users will be able to sign up via these apps.
• By having this synergy with Instagram will make it
easier for users to use the site, and provide them
with a quicker sign in process as they will be able
to use their same log in and password they would
use for Instagram, or if they don’t have Instagram
they will have to sign up manually.

Features-Navigation Bar.
The Navigation Bar I have designed has 5 main buttons,
Home, Sell, Inbox, Search and New Post. I have decided
to go with only 5 buttons as I want my social media site
to be easy to use, and to navigate around so the user
doesn't’t get confused on how to use it.
Sell Button:
The Sell button allows users to click on this and post an
picture and a 140 character limit, this is where users
are able to post items and a description of the item,
such a price, quality, post and packaging, description of
the item itself.
Inbox:
This is where users can check their inbox, they may get
an message from someone regarding an item they are
wishing to buy off you or maybe having a conversation
with you regarding an item you are wishing to buy from
the, all conversations are kept privately and the only
people who can view them are you and the other user
you are having the conversation with.

Navigation Bar-Continued.
Search:
This is the search bar button, this is where users
are able to search for a particular item they are
looking for or they can search other accounts.
New Post:
This is where they can write a post this is similar
to the ‘sell button’ although on the sell button, it
asks for more detail such as has a section for
more detail, such as has drop downs where you
enter your address, details of the products .So
therefore the post section is where you can write
about things such inspiration, wish lists, write
that you are looking for an certain item to see if
anyone is selling it.

Revenue.
• The Hunt which is my inspiration for my app, even though The
Hunt doesn’t advertise products clearly such as Facebook
does, where they actually display the products they advertise.
• The Hunt advertises shops and brands, this is what my app
will do as people are looking for an item or selling and item
they are advertising a particular brand in some way.

The reason for this is because pop ups can be annoying to some
users especially if they are continually popping up it can get
irritating to the user, and I don’t want them to annoy any of my
users as it may make them not want to use my site.
• As well as this if anything I want to promote my social media site,
and attract as many users as possible and not want them to be
attracted to any of site as this would prove to be a lot of
competition.

Legal and Ethical.
• My social media app will have to have moral and professional obligations that they
must follow to ensure that we don’t give out anyone’s personal data, this is
especially important when customers are putting in their bank details, address, ect
when coming to sell an item or purchase one.
• This also links into the Data Protection act where we are protecting everyone's
personal data.

On the GOV.uk website you are able to register a trademark, by this you
must complete a survey of questions which will begin the process of
getting your trademark registered, this will protect your companies
IP(Intellecutal Property) by registering your company this will reduce the
likelihood of people stealing and information from your company as well
as copying information such as company logo ect.

• When it comes to my social media site, I am going to
ensure that I follow the Date Protection Act. By this I will
ensure that as an app we don’t not share any personal
information of the user.

• Before Social Hunt can be published there factors which need to be covered before my app is
released to the public. The two main companies which cover the media publishing, these re
Independent Press Standards Organisation(IPSO) and Advertisement Standard
Authority(ASA).This both companies are based in the UK and work with dealing with any
complaints that have been made in the media industry. Some of the things they deal with is
Copyright, ethical issues, discrimination, children and accuracy.

• Copyright is a form of protection given to the authors or creators of "original works of
authorship," including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic and other intellectual works copyright
is massively important when it comes to producing my app the editors and producers of my
app would have to insure that they are aren't using any images without the persons
permission, or this could be seen as breaking the laws of copyright.
The Right To Privacy-(LEGAL CONSTRAINTS)
• Everyone is entitled to their rights of privacy. Therefore when it comes to publishing content
about people I need to make sure that I am not breaching anyone privacy or any regulations. To
make sure that all content is acceptable, and not breaching anyone's privacy, I must ask all the
people who are featuring in my app for their permission to use photos and information about
them.

which is a quicker way to sign up. Which
links in to how I am going to include

Here is my homepage for my social media site, as you can see I have included a short description of the app,(about us)
and what the app is all about I did this to inform users about my app.On my app in the top left hand corner is where the
users profile picture will be displayed as well as this along with their name, and their age. Underneath that they are able
to edit their profile. On the homepage there is a navigation bar, along the bar there are tabs like Home, Trending and
Latest. Currently the page is on the ‘Trending Page’ on here are a number of images of clothes and shoes which people
have been searching/looking for and these are the most popular the most trending items.

development of my social media product. This applies tiny social media product by
which ‘Social Hunt’ is a start up business and may need help from the WSP to
develop and decrease the cost of how much the social media site is loosing and
gain followers.
• Social Hunt, within the first year would have had a decrease in costs as the site
would have only just got up and running. Therefore it is looking to develop as a
product with the help of WSP.

interact with others within our site.

outlined, and that they are meant to treat the site and its other

dismissed or suspended.

Conclusion.
• Finally in this learning outcome, I have analyzed
my sign up page, homepage and profile page and
explained and given in detail as to why I have
included certain codes and conventions in order
to make my social media site as successful as
possible.
• As you can see when creating my social media
site, I have followed my graphic layouts really
well, as this where a great help to me and were a
guide.
