UNIT 1
LIVING THINGS.PLANTS
• Living things
• The characteristics of living things
All living things are formed of cells and have
three vital functions: nutrition, interaction and
reproduction.
Cells Tissues Organs
Systems
• Living things
• The structure of living things
The simplest living things are single-cell
organisms. All the vital fuctions happen in their
one cell.
In multicellular organisms, cells group together
to form: tissues, organs and systems.
Single-cell organism Multicellurar organisms
• Plantas
• The characteristics of plants
Plants are multicellular organisms that produce
their own food.
Plants do not move from place to place but they
react to changes around them.
Most reproduce by flowers which produce
seeds.
• Plantas
• The nutrion function in plants
Plants absorb water, minerals and carbon
dioxide. Using the Sun´s light they make
carbohydrates through photosynthesis. Plants
also breathe and excrete residues.
• LESSON VOCABULARY
• Living things: Seres vivos
• Cells: células
• Vital fuctions: funciones vitales
• Interaction: relación
• Single-cell: unicelular
• Tissues:tejidos
• To do not move: no moverse
• To react to changes: reaccionar a los cambios
• Seeds: semillas
• To breathe: respirar
• Residues: residuos
