Thus the building of the famous Canals and the Jordaans started. During the 1600 s Amsterdam
s population was growing rapidly. It quickly became necessary to increase in size in order to
accommodate the abundance of new occupants. The community now know as the Jordaans was
built in 1612 in the western part of Grachtengordel, it was decided that this area would be for the
working class. All of the streets and building were developed around old trails and ditches which
is why it looks different from the rest of Amsterdam. The first residence of the Jordanns were
fortunate that at the time there was much need for sailors, carpenters and other workers. Soon
small rooms and attics were being rented out to whole families, due to lack of housing. Home
owners began adding on extra rooms, building up making the streets appear narrower. Back houses
were also constructed and were reachable through small ally ways that were no more than one
meter wide. Most tenets of the Jordaans wanted to escape the crowded streets and poverty that
surrounded them but there were no escapes. Some of the weathey donated money to build the
Westerkerk Church, the famous artist Rembrandt is in fact buried in a pauper s grave. The church
gave the community members a place to avoid the slums of their neighborhood. In the early
eighteen hundreds six canals were added around the Jordaan quarter although there was still no

African American Superiority
When African Americans first arrived in American colonies in 1619, religion and wealth were
the determining factors of superiority. Most labor was performed by indentured servants of
European decent at this time. However as immigrant arrivals slowed and the need for labor
increased, African American slaves were shipped over and considered to be a never ending
supply of labor. Colonial law and statues began to use the word White opposed to Englishmen or
Christians to show superiority. Lower class Europeans thus obtained more rights and had access to
better job opportunities as they were replaced by the inferior African Americans. At this time
African Americans were believed to be a different species while Natives were considered to be

Misfit In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
In A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor the author introduces the character Misfit ,
who is an escaped murderer, and also introduces a family that is going to go on a vacation to
Florida. This family will ultimately meet their untimely death at the hands of Misfit. Bailey and
his family went on a vacation to Florida, even though the grandmother tried to convince them not

Just you read it. I wouldn t take my children in a direction with a criminal like that a loose in it. I

Comparison Of Jane Eyre And Jane Eyre
Comparison between the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontГ«, and the homologous film from 1996
Berendi Camelia, EN CH
The 1847 novel by Charlotte BrontГ« has seen numerous film adaptations, which only added to its
vast popularity. The bildungsroman follows the plain featured, poor, but honest, intelligent and
dignified orphan s development from an oppressed young girl to an independent woman who has
found balance between her often conflicting principles and sentiments. In her quest for a home and
a family to belong to, Jane Eyre searches for both intellectual and emotional fulfillment, while
strongly making a statement about women s role in the Victorian society, gender and social iniquity
and discrimination. The themes of the novel remain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John, his character and marriage proposal is not sufficiently emphasized in the film, neither is
the fact that Jane actually considered his request to marry him and go as missionaries in India.
It is a fairly significant moment in Jane s life, having encountered with a second proposal and
romantic prospect, although so unlike the first one. St. John serves as a foil to Rochester: the
first one is cold, austere, ambitious, religious and reserved, while the other is passionate,
impetuous, dark and mysterious. Marrying Rochester, Jane would fulfill her emotional need for
love and affection but would neglect her duty to her moral principles and to her dignity (by
becoming a mistress while Bertha was still alive). On the other hand, marrying St. John would
bring her spiritual and moral satisfaction (as she would have a religious and righteous partner),
while also leading a meaningful life as a missionary in India and having the opportunity to be
more than just a governess, but, nonetheless, it would be a loveless, passionless marriage. This
internal battle Jane faces between having to choose whether to gratify her emotions or her moral
principles is not highlighted in the film, although, in my opinion, it represents a crucial point in
her life. In the novel, she earnestly considers St. John s proposal before finally making her
decision: Shall I? I said briefly; and I looked at his features, beautiful in their harmony, but strangely

Hal Niedzvieck s Facebook In A Crowd
What does it mean to be friends? According to google, it is a bond of mutual affection , but that s a
pretty lousy definition. Being friends is much more than that, a friend is someone with whom you
can show your true colors, someone that you call when you re in trouble, someone that you hang
out with and crack jokes. As we stand on the edge of the 4th technological revolution (digital
revolution), which is blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres
(weforum.org). Which can be clearly seen with the ever growing popularity of social media that is
blurring the line between friends, acting friendly and connections. The line gets even more blurry

It has never been easier to build a long distance relationship or friendship, but all this power at our
fingertips does come with some drawbacks. The definition of the word friend has changed a lot
since the introduction of Facebook in 2004. Some people seems to believe that being friends in
social media translate to friendship in real life. Being friends on social media usually just mean
that you guys are somehow connected according to the six degrees of separation theory,
everyone on earth are connected in six round of introduction or less. Which is not surprising
considering that most of our friend list on Facebook is filled with strangers or acquaintances.
Having 700 friends on Facebook does not mean anything and people wouldn t show up to a
party thrown by a stranger. Would you go to a party thrown by someone who you barely know or
never hang out with? Of course, you wouldn t and that is not Facebook s or the modern world s
fault. You have only yourself to blame for being anti social and a

The Little Things
When you re not paying close attention to all of the good things that can happen to you
throughout the day, you don t really notice how many small things there are that can have a
positive effect. Small things on their own aren t much, but when you start to add them up they can
become something huge. For instance, playing fetch with my Labrador Buddy, or giving in to that
craving of chocolate and enjoying every bite are very small things in the grand scheme of things,
but take either out of my life and it would be a tragedy. Every once in a while something happens
that is clearly a big good thing, but they don t happen often enough to really get you through that
daily grind. For instance, my mom recently celebrated her 70th birthday... Show more content on

These are things that are small on the surface, but if they went away they would be pretty big. If
suddenly you have a health scare and are hanging on to your life, something like having a good
meal would seem pretty huge. If somebody you loved were to die, suddenly those hugs that you
used to share with them every day would linger over you and the lack of their presence would be
one of the saddest things in your life. The small things are really the big things because they reflect
what truly matters to you. I have a very busy life and not everyday do I think about and appreciate
having a simple phone conversation with a friend, getting a much needed hug from my boyfriend,
or even just spending time with my niece, but these are the things that would feel crippling if they
went away. By doing this experiment I learned that people generally focus too much on the negative
things in the world and end up making themselves feel like victims. And they don t pay enough
attention to the little things in the world that add up to make for a life that s worth living. People
love to recall all of the bad things that happen to them throughout the day, but really things don t
happen to people, things just happen. There are probably an equal amount of good things and bad
things, so the trick to getting through life and making yourself happy is to control how you
respond to the world. If you focus on the bad and

The Shouldr Joint
I am the shoulder joint but some people call me the glenohumoral joint. The shouldr joint is a ball
and socket type joint and is connected to part of the humerus and the scapula at the glenoid cavity.
This is the most mobile joint in the body, but also the most frequently injured. The rotator cuff,
which is a main component of the shoulder jointis often injured so research on how to efficiently
heal that injury is ongoing. The shoulder joint is extremely flexible compared to the rest of the
joints in the body. This flexibility is partly due to the fact that it is a ball and socket joint. By
being a ball and socket joint it means that it is capable of circumduction, angular, and rotational
movement. It allows one s arm to move up, down, to the right, to the left, and in a circle. Because
it has a large range of movement, it is unstable and easily damaged. To make up for this, it has
many ligaments and tendons to keep it in place. In addition, it also has the glenoid labrum which
deepens the shallow glenoid cavity and makes it more stable.... Show more content on

treat rotator cuff injuries include physical therapy and surgery. There has been a recent study to
find ways to make the rotator cuff heal on its own. Some of these ways to improve tissue
regeneration in the rotator cuff include growth factors, platelet rich plasma (PRP), and stem cell(

on other muscles in the shoulder to keep the placement of the shoulder because the muscles of the

Criminal Justice Assembly Line
What Is the Criminal Justice Assembly Line?
The criminal justice assembly line was a term coined by justice expert Herbert Backer referring
to the system acting as a funnel or conveyor belt down which moves an endless stream of cases,
never stopping . . . most people who commit a crime escape detection, and of those who do not,
relatively few are bound over for trial, convicted, and eventually sentenced to prison (). The funnel
is wide at the top, and narrow at the bottom. View the entire process as a never ending series of 15
steps or decision points:
1. Initial Contact this step involves a police interaction such as, responding to complaints and calls
or observing a suspect committing a crime.
2. Investigation sufficient evidence, known as probable cause, must be gathered to identify and
support a legal arrest of a suspect.
3. Arrest The officer is not required to use the word arrest to initiate an arrest. For an arrest to be
considered legal, the following conditions need to exist. First, the officer has to have probable
cause, the legal requirement for an arrest. Second, the officer has to deprive the individual of
freedom, and lastly, the suspect believes that he or she is now in custody and has lost his or her
liberty.
4. Custody After an arrest, while detaining the suspect, the police may want to search for evidence,
conduct an interrogation, or encourage a confession.
5. Charge the next step is to charge the suspect. If sufficient evidence

Preparedness Programs As mentioned earlier children is one of many vulnerable group of
people when an earthquake occur. They do not concern themselves with training and conducting
safety drills compared to adults who wants to and needs to prepare for such disasters. Children
are more interested in making friends, playing with friends, learning, and, of course, having fun
at home and school. Most of the time, children are at school doing what they need to do, which
is to learn from what the school has to offer. They do not fully understand that they may be
separated from their family, loss their parents or brothers and sisters, and experience a horrific
destruction of seeing severely injured people or even dead bodies. This is something that should
not happen and experience by child. It will be extremely difficult and traumatizing for that child
if they do experience it. However, there are many programs that are developed to mitigate such

The second species that was found after walking further down the trail was the Common Brown
Butterfly. According to the climate watch website, the reason they are interested in this species of
butterfly is because compared to 60 years ago these butterflies are coming out about 10 days
earlier than it was suppose to and also may be appearing in new areas. In the article Global Warming

major impact on the development of the common brown butterfly. Michael Kearney and Natalie

Types of Family Structure
Understanding Family The type of family structure I grew up in was very traditional and
structured. The family was intact. Mom stayed home and dad went to work in order to make
money to pay the bills. He was always the breadwinner, and mom was a stay at home mom who
took care of the children and the house instead of working outside the home. Both parents were
open minded, warm, and loving, but they were also authoritative and serious about taking care of
the children, the house, and each other. Overall, it was a very effective way to raise a family, and is
being passed along to future generations of my family in order to preserve tradition and show
how things can work out very nicely for people who are interested in keeping to some of the
older ways of raising a family. Both parents do not always have to work for there to be enough
money to survive (Mattox, 1990). It is possible for the mother to stay home, and if she has a lot
of children it might actually be less expensive than paying for daycare (Forbes, 2005). If mom
works but her entire paycheck goes for childcare expenses she has not gained anything. She has
only lost time with her children (Forbes, 2005). While there are not as many moms who stay home
today, there is nothing wrong with mom staying home and dad working. My parents were always
happy with that arrangement and did not see the need to make changes. They were open minded
enough to have made changes, though, if they had both wanted to or if there was

Portrayal of Asian Americans
Abstract
My research focused on the coverage of Asian Americans in contemporary mass media. The
following types of media were researched:
В·Music
В·Television
В·Films
В·Magazines
I gave several examples where Asian Americans were used to play very simple characters. These
roles were defined by stereotypes that exist in America. I also researched instances on counter
actions taken by Asian Americans to protest against these negative images. My research also has
examples of Asians that have succeeded in breaking through the racial barriers in the media.
The results show that even though racial stereotyping still exists in various forms of mass media,

Hollywood typically restricts its portrayals of Asians to a limited range of clichГ©d stock
characters (Restrictive Portrayals [RP], 2004). Examples of the common roles that Asian Americans
play in movies are martial artists, Indian cab drivers, television anchorwomen and prostitutes (RP,
2004). Even if most Americans do not buy into these images because they interact with many Asian
Americans who do not fit the stereotype, the areas of concern are those parts in the United States
where there isn t a sufficient Asian population (Wu, 2002). Since many Asian people do not
surround these Americans on an everyday environment, it is a safe assumption that they will draw
their judgment of Asian Americans from how they are portrayed on film and television.
In many American films, Asian men are portrayed as passive, old, and speak broken English.
The Karate Kid was a popular movie that depicted the Asian actor as such a man. In The Karate
Kid, Pat Morita plays Mr. Miyagi, an old Japanese American World War II veteran who calmly
trains an enthusiastic white teenage male the Japanese martial arts of karate. Despite the fact that
Mr. Miyagi was an American World War II veteran, he was still portrayed speaking English with a
foreign accent. The myth that all Asian men know some form of martial arts was also stressed in
this movie when Mr. Miyagi surprises Daniel (the white male leading actor) with his karate moves

The Importance Of A Community Health Board
In January of 2015 Kanabec County and Pine County Public Health Departments merged into one
entity; Kanabec and Pine Community Health Services (KPCHS), as the State revenue is going to
start applying funding to larger demographic areas instead of smaller counties. The Purpose of a
Community Health Board (CHB) was to develop and maintain an integrated system of community
healthservices under local administration and within a system of state guidelines and standards. A
board of health must include within its jurisdiction a population of 30,000 or more persons or be
composed of 3 or more contiguous counties to be eligible to form a CHB. These members were to
ensure that the 6 Public Healthresponsibility remained intact. However, this operation did not seek
input from others than that of the hierarchy upper admiration team consisting of 4 for the
brainstorming process at that time. As both Public Health already were in fully matured and
established entities the merger created a new organization that some favored and others did not,
creating a high turnover in staff from Pine County as they felt they were being forced into change
they did not trust. At the same time there was a change in the director of Health and Human
Services, bringing in a new replacement that had not been privy to the growth and development
thus far. This created contention and of course the Director of Health and Human Services from
Kanabec Countywas named administrator for the new organization.

facilitating skills. Through the course I have been able to undergo a shift in my identity as I
thought I knew who I was. Yet I come to class asking the same question, who I am, constantly. I
think this also has helped me identify what skills are those that I have learned and those that I have
made even stronger. Another skillthat I have gained to appreciate more is storytelling and the
important role and value that it holds. I am able to see that storytelling can be vital to learningabout
who we are as well as find out out about others in a matter of time. I think that I am getting used to

I believe that I am able to be more comfortable with who I am and who I am becoming. I know
for a fact that I am becoming more confident in who I am as I am still on my own self identity

to put myself in the uncomfortable position first in order to be comfortable and that will help set
the stage for my future clients. This we enable the counseling sessions to flow better and address
that I will know the emotions and feelings of how my client will feel. I also think that learning and

Chemical Reaction Lab Report
Introduction
A chemical reaction is when substances (reactants) change into other substances (products). The
five general types of chemical reactions are synthesis (also known as direct combination),
decomposition, single replacement (also known as single displacement), double replacement (also
known as double displacement), and combustion. In this lab, the five general types of chemical
reactions were conducted and observations were taken before, during, and after the reaction. Then
the reactants and observations were used to determine the products to form a balanced chemical
equation. The purpose of this lab was to learn and answer the question: How can observations be
used to determine the identity of substances produced in a chemical reaction?

The Key Components Of Teaching Students
When teaching students to read it is very crucial not to just give a child a book and start the
process from there but to know the five key components to help them read where they are able to
comprehend and have fluency when reading. These key components are phonemic awareness,
phonics, reading fluency mentally and orally, vocabulary development, and readingcomprehension
strategies. Phonemic awareness is the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate individual sounds
phonemes in spoken words. Before children learn to read print, they need to become more aware
of how the sounds in words work. They must understand that words are made up of speech sounds,
or phonemes (the smallest parts of sound in a spoken wordthat make a difference in a word s
meaning). (WriteExpress Corporation, 2015) Phonemic awareness is very important with children
learning to read because it helps them learn to sound out words in spelling, identify and
categorize sounds, and delete or add sounds to make new words with blending. This skill would
often be integrated during reading and spelling activities with working with sight and vocabulary
words with allowing students to learn how to recognize more words and break them down found
within advancing vocabulary terms. For example, if the word football was given to try to sound
out. Phonics is one of the primary building blocks of reading. Without an understandingof the
relationship between letters and sounds, reading cannot occur. Phonics is the

Superheroes, Despite Their Different Powers, All Possess
Superheroes, despite their different powers, all possess similar characteristics that define them,
such as courage, honesty, selflessness, and the maintenance of strong morals. Similarly, King Lear,
the tragic hero in William Shakespeare s play, King Lear, possesses characteristics that define him
as a tragic hero, as stated by Aristotle in Poetics via A.C. Bradley s The Shakespearean Tragic
Hero. King Learis a character of high social status, and he possesses exceptional qualities that make
him a well respected king; however, throughout the play s events, he suffers tremendously in an
unusual manner. In addition, Lear, despite being a good character with good intentions, possesses a
tragic flaw his pride which ultimately blinds him... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as the play progresses, his suffering that is caused by the impulsive decision to divide
his kingdom is clearly seen. This suffering is illustrated through the loss of his sanity, ultimately
due to the sudden loss of his power, his deteriorating relationships with his daughters, and the
inability to prevent these negative outcomes. Upon realizing his mistake of solely letting Regan
and Goneril inherit his kingdom, Lear is ashamed that [his daughters have the] power to shake
[his] manhood (I.iv.299 301). His daughters, who are women and are therefore considered to be
less important and powerful in his society, have taken control of Lear s power and life, and it is
embarrassing to him as he is used to receiving constant honour, pride, and glory as the King. This
illustrates the start of him losing his sanity, and soon, Lear is seen pleading to the gods to keep
[him] in temper and to not [let him] be mad, as he is stripped away from all that is his (I.v.43
44). As King Lear pleads for help to maintain his sanity, his sufferings are clearly illustrated as the
change in his character is evident; a change from a virtuous, powerful king, to a mentally
unstable, powerless, and embarrassed beggar like character. This form of suffering is unusual
because a sudden but significant loss of power is rare, especially for someone as powerful and
influential as a King. All the sudden negative

Investigation of in vitro and in vivo antifungal activity of different plant acetonic extracts against
fungal skin isolates
ABSTRACT
T he worldwide increase of multidrug resistance has impaired the current antimicrobial therapy,
warranting the search for other alternatives. This study investigated the efficacy of using plant
extracts; Lawsonia inermis L(Henna), Glycyrrhiza glabra L(licorice) and Rosmarinus officinalis L
(Rosemary) as antifungal agents.Antifungal susceptibility test revealed that nystatin were mostly
active against tested clinical isolates. In vitro antifungal activity of the different plant extracts
against isolates showed that acetonic extract of licorice, had high antifungal activity. In vivo study,
topical application of licorice gave promising and excellent healing response. We propose that the
higher percentage of (GC MS) of 3 O Methyl d glucose 29.1 %, most probably are the causes of its
higher antifungal activity.

Economic Impact Of Economic Freedom On Economic Growth
Introduction: In the last three decades the concept of economic freedom have dominated the
economic theories as the best way to economic development, Many economists and politicians
believe that economic freedom displays a significantly positive effect on economic growth, while
others believe that the increased freedom will have a negative effects on economic growth. In
addition, all of the international organizations such as the World Bank and the International
Monetary Fund (IMF) encourage developing countries to follow the freedom economic policies.
Basically, the myth is that America has been founded on the free market; the government has done
very little; it has thrived under free trade. But actually, if you look at the history, this is actually the
country that has succeeded most with protectionist policies Ha Joon. Consequently, some countries
achieved good results and could improve their economies. However, others became in the terrible
situation. This casts some doubts about the economic freedom as the perfect way to improve
economic activities. Hypothesis The paper tries to show whether the economic freedom policy to
improve economic activity in developing countries or not. Based on the economic theory, I offer the
following hypothesis and alternative hypothesis: Hypothesis (H0) Economic freedom increases
economic growth. Hypothesis (H1) Economic freedom does not increase economic growth.
Methodology: In this paper, we

The Pros And Cons Of Memory Problems
When people think of memory problems, their first thought is probably forgetting. However,
that is just a small portion of memory problems as a whole. For example, in a study done at
Boston University, students were shown a set of pictures of situations such as a careless student
leaning back in his chair, a man taking an orange from the bottom of the pile, and a grocery bag
ripping and spilling groceries. 68% of the students involved in the experiment claimed they
remembered seeing the so called cause picture of the bag ripping. The problem was that there was
no cause photo for the spilled groceries. When the students saw the effect and not the cause, they
made an assumption. This proved that inferences can cause us to think we remember something
that never actually happened. Therefore, memories can actually be illusions. Recent memory
research has focused on why we have memory problems such as remembering the first letter of a
word but not the whole word. A... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Suggestibility is when people mix up personal memory with second hand information. According to
Schacter, leading questions and encouraging feedback can result in altered memories of events that
never took place. In fact, suggestibility can even lead to false eyewitness testimonies. For example,
a psychologist named Gary Wells from Iowa University showed a group of volunteers a video of a
man entering a store, and then told them that the man killed a security guard. When he and his
colleagues showed the volunteers some photos and asked them to identify the man, who was not in
any of the photos, he told some of them that they identified the correct man. The students who were
encouraged later stated that the encouragement caused them to be more confident in their recall of
the man. The positive feedback not only made them more confident in their memory of the man, but
also caused them to forget any uncertainty they originally had about their identification of the

Why exchange banks are looking for growth? It s mainly because the shareholders. Who owns the

Conduct a group meeting: This is the effective and efficient way to get the business information and
messages conveyed and delivered among a group of team members. During the meeting any
previous issues and future concerns are brought up for detailed discussion and a meeting minutes
will be formed and distributed to the meeting participants after the meeting.
Send business emails: This method is opposed to the time consuming group discussion and

delayed by being pulled off from their conducted work. This communication method can also serve
as the strong evidences for delivered business information.
Individual discussion: This communication method allows the participants to discuss some private
and sensitive information face to face without creating any offending feeling. However both parties
need to be aware of the communication styles and learn to compromise their opinions.
Conduct a group presentation: This communication style is best for the team members who are
visual learners. They can accept new ideas via seeing the pictures and photos and prefer to learn
under the formal learning environment. MS PowerPoint software can help facilitate this
communication method.

The Rise Of Interracial Marriages
Interracial marriages, whether it be about race or religion, create more diversity in the world.
These marriages create a more diverse world because the child of an interracial marriage now
comes from two or more races. A quote from New Marriages, New Families reads Because the
growth and diversification of the U.S. population in recent decades have been primarily fueled by
increases in the nonblack minority groups in particular, Asians and Hispanics the role of
intermarriage in the continued diversification of the U.S. population will become even more
important. Lee, S. M., Edmonston, B. (2005). This quote suggests that the cause of the recent
diversification is because of the increase of interracial marriages. If attitudes about... Show more

create problems in their family s traditions. Also, parents and grandparents may not have wanted to
marry outside of their race because if they have a child, that child could face prejudice because of

Phineas Gage Summary
Imagine your sitting at home watching the news, a reporter talks about a man surviving a three
foot iron pole being blown through his skull and taking a chunk of his brain out. This was an
actual story that happened to a man named Phineas Gage back in 1848, long before modern
neuroscience and medication. Gage was a railroad track builder for the town of Cavendish,
Vermont. While he was working, a man uses dynamite to blow away rocks that are blocking the
way of the railroad tracks. The dynamite goes off to early and sends a tamping iron, a rod used
for beating down earthly substance in tamping for blasting, straight through Gage s head. The rob
goes through his left cheek and his eye, it splits his optic nerve, and then comes out his forehead.
Gage lived through this horrible incident and he s was still able to speak and move around, but he

It amazes me that this man was able to survive such a horrendous experience. I did some research
on what parts of his brain were actually destroyed. The frontal lobes, limbic system, and anything
in between the two were obliterated. As you all know, the frontal lobes deal mostly with receiving
and coordinating messages from other lobes, while the limbic system controls your emotions and
drives(hunger, dominance,etc.). So my prediction is that his limbic system was definitely
abolished, but his frontal lobes were merely damaged. The fontal lobes also help the brain with
motor control and speech production which Gage still had. So the only explanation I can come up
with is that limbic system got shut down and the neurotransmitters shut down as well which
stopped sending messages to the frontal lobe. With the frontal lobe not receiving any messages
from the limbic system, Gages emotions went rampant, going from a really nice guy to a really
not so nice guy. By knowing more about Mr. Gage and what he went through, I now know why he
acted the way he

Extending the low range of your singing voice will improve your tone production and ability to
hit high notes. By extending your range, the vocal cords expand and become more flexible. This
makes it possible to extend your reach both high and low. Care should be taken to avoid extending
the range too quickly. Daily practice is the key to slowly developing your voice to hit the low notes
when singing.
Piano Exercise
Sing a note that is in the lower part of your comfortable range. This note should come easily.
Once you have found it, locate the same pitch on the piano. Then sing on whole notes a major
scale descending into your low range. Go as low as possible without straining your voice. This
exercise will help to expand your range slowly over time. Always begin each practice session with

There have been many cases of injuries due to drinking and driving. Whether it had to do with
the driver being drunk and getting injured, or being the one affected by the drunk driver. There
have even been laws that have been implemented to make it harder to get away with drinking and
driving. There are also many resources a driver who is drinking can think of to avoid drinking and
driving. Drinking and driving is extremely bad, especially if a person is thinking about operating
vehicle. Drunk drivers need to be educated on the repercussions
First off, every day drunk drivers are arrested either for traffic violations, reckless driving, or
random stops on the road etc. A drunk driver hears the siren of a cop car, sees the red flashing
lights, and a person in uniform knocking at their driver side window. An officer has pulled them
over for suspicious driving. If the officer smells a strong odor of alcohol, and the person exhibits
slurred speech or general incoherence they will be asked to exit their vehicle and move to the
side of the road where they will undergo the field of sobriety testing (Drinking and Driving
Consequences and Effects). If you fail to demonstrate that you are fine to operate a vehicle during
these field tests, the officer can then ask permission to perform a blood alcohol content test, or

Shakespeare is known for a multitude of things; His ability to make a play both funny and
dramatic, his compelling and complex story lines, his multi dimensional characters and last but not
least, his strong female leads. Some of his female characters are celebrated to this day for being
original and fierce in their convictions. One thing that makes his female leads really stand out is the
fact that they were created in a time when patriarchy and female submission were norms among
society. They challenged gendernorms, and though he was not the first to write such strong female
characters, he was one of the most widely recognized playwrights of that time. His larger audience

It is believed that he was born in April of 1564. At this point in time, Elizabeth had been on the
throne for just about six years. By the time Shakespeare moved to London in the mid 1580 s, there
had already been a definite shift in political and social mindset, but largely, the norms were the
same as they had always been. For women at this time, there was not a whole lot of decision
making that was left up to them. For the most part, their parents (primarily, their fathers) would
auction them off to the highest bidder. If a woman chose to remain single or was undesirable to
suitors, any responsibility for her finances and well being would fall on the eldest male relative
(Father or Brother). Marriage was the only way for a woman to acquire any title or land. Even
when married, the woman was still entitled to nothing, and had very little options to make money
even if they were allowed to. The only available professions to them were that of housework or
service to nobles. They were not allowed to Act, and it was because of this that most of the plays
performed during that time used boys or young men to play the women, so that their voices would

Civil War Reenactment
During the weekend of September 24th 25, 2016, I had attended some of the events involved
with Allegany History Week and the Civil War Reenactment in Wellsville. On Saturday, I visited
the historical display room in Howe Library, in Wellsville, and visited the Civil War Reenactment
in Wellsville s Island Park. On Sunday, I went to see the Voices of the Past event at the Palmer
Opera House in Cuba. This will be a report of what I had seen in these events.
On Saturday morning, I went to Howe Library in Wellsville, to see its historical display. The
display room featured various tables holding displays of the history of various towns, displays of
history projects by young residents, and various historical antiques. The layout consisted of
various isles formed by the placement of objects and stands. Four lanes ran perpendicular to the
four room walls, forming a walking square, which was met on the other side with a rough square
of displays. This internal square of displays had points on which to enter an internal space lined
with more displays on the inside.
Not far from the entrance, there was the display of the replicas of Hamilton Burr Dueling Pistols.

Character Development In The Scarlet Letter By Nathanial...
The Scarlet Letter by Nathanial Hawthorne often uses character development to foreshadow the
inevitable outcome of the novel. Hawthorne wrote, And now, through the chamber which these
spectral thoughts had made so ghastly, glided Hester Prynne leading along little Pearl, in her scarlet
garb, and pointing her forefinger, first at the scarlet letteron her bosom, and then at the clergyman s
own chest. This quote foreshadows the ending of the novel, including Dimmesdale s confession and
demise. Hester Prynneand Dimmesdale both show a strong development of character throughout
the novel which all contribute to the final outcome. In this society and period of time, Hester is
considered to have deviated from the norm. Many valued and followed Puritan beliefs and it
appeared as if Hester had strayed from the path. When the novel began, she was separated from
the rest of the Puritan world, and behind the wooden door. The door symbolized sin; those on the
inside have violated the traditional beliefs of a faithful Puritan. Hester was punished for
committing adultery, and therefore was isolated from the rest of society. She is ashamed of her
actions, and because of them, she is required to wear a scarlet letter upon her breast. After
attempts of covering the letter, she is informed that it is part of her punishment and must be worn
at all times. Hester is embarrassed and feels weak due to the presence of the letter, however, this
feeling soon changes as she realizes who she

Dentist Application Essay
As a second time applicant, I have gained experience working in both general dentistry and in
specialty dental practices. Working part time alongside a general dentist gave me the opportunity
to do dental charting, prepare instruments, and provide instructions and advice on brushing and
flossing techniques to patients. I have since developed a habit of taking detailed notes and
drawings of the surgery in my own journal to reinforce my learning. At the office, I noticed that a

cases, the handiwork of a dentist provided the patients immediate help by relieving them from pain.
My observations and experiences working in a dental office have taught me these rewarding
moments, which have solidified my goal to become a dentist.
Furthermore, I explored many specialty practices, such as oral surgery, periodontics, and
endodontics, which allowed me to observe many different courses of treatment. Luckily, this
shadowing opportunity opened the door to a position working at Berkeley Orinda Oral Surgery.
Because this was an office with four oral surgeons and more than 25 staff members and surgical
assistants, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With my pre dental student peers at UC Berkeley, I participated in Dental Education Outreach

true appreciation for dentistry as a profession whose work is not limited to in office care, but one
that allows to reach out to the greater public. The help that I could provide to those communities
were limited without professional skills, but I would like to go back and help in the most needed
regions in the world after achieving my professional goal to become a skilled clinician in dental

The bildungsroman follows the plain featured, poor, but honest, intelligent and dignified orphan s development from an oppressed young girl to an independent woman who has found balance between her often conflicting principles and sentiments. It is a fairly significant moment in Jane s life, having encountered with a second proposal and romantic prospect, although so unlike the first one. St. John serves as a foil to Rochester: the first one is cold, austere, ambitious, religious and reserved, while the other is passionate, impetuous, dark and mysterious. Marrying Rochester, Jane would fulfill her emotional need for love and affection but would neglect her duty to her moral principles and to her dignity (by becoming a mistress while Bertha was still alive). On the other hand, marrying St. John would bring her spiritual and moral satisfaction (as she would have a religious and righteous partner), while also leading a meaningful life as a missionary in India and having the opportunity to be more than just a governess, but, nonetheless, it would be a loveless, passionless marriage. This internal battle Jane faces between having to choose whether to gratify her emotions or her moral principles is not highlighted in the film, although, in my opinion, it represents a crucial point in her life. These key components are phonemic awareness, phonics, reading fluency mentally and orally, vocabulary development, and readingcomprehension strategies. Phonemic awareness is the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate individual sounds phonemes in spoken words. Before children learn to read print, they need to become more aware of how the sounds in words work. They must understand that words are made up of speech sounds, or phonemes (the smallest parts of sound in a spoken wordthat make a difference in a word s meaning). (WriteExpress Corporation, 2015) Phonemic awareness is very important with children learning to read because it helps them learn to sound out words in spelling, identify and categorize sounds, and delete or add sounds to make new words with blending. This skill would often be integrated during reading and spelling activities with working with sight and vocabulary words with allowing students to learn how to recognize more words and break them down found within advancing vocabulary terms. Upon realizing his mistake of solely letting Regan and Goneril inherit his kingdom, Lear is ashamed that [his daughters have the] power to shake [his] manhood (I.iv.299 301). The students who were encouraged later stated that the encouragement caused them to be more confident in their recall of the man. The positive feedback not only made them more confident in their memory of the man, but also caused them to forget any uncertainty they originally had about their identification of the ... • 33. Phineas Gage Summary Imagine your sitting at home watching the news, a reporter talks about a man surviving a three foot iron pole being blown through his skull and taking a chunk of his brain out. This was an actual story that happened to a man named Phineas Gage back in 1848, long before modern neuroscience and medication. Gage was a railroad track builder for the town of Cavendish, Vermont. While he was working, a man uses dynamite to blow away rocks that are blocking the way of the railroad tracks. The dynamite goes off to early and sends a tamping iron, a rod used for beating down earthly substance in tamping for blasting, straight through Gage s head. The rob goes through his left cheek and his eye, it splits his optic nerve, and then comes out his forehead. Gage lived through this horrible incident and he s was still able to speak and move around, but he was not the same... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It amazes me that this man was able to survive such a horrendous experience. I did some research on what parts of his brain were actually destroyed. The frontal lobes, limbic system, and anything in between the two were obliterated. As you all know, the frontal lobes deal mostly with receiving and coordinating messages from other lobes, while the limbic system controls your emotions and drives(hunger, dominance,etc.). So my prediction is that his limbic system was definitely abolished, but his frontal lobes were merely damaged. The fontal lobes also help the brain with motor control and speech production which Gage still had. So the only explanation I can come up with is that limbic system got shut down and the neurotransmitters shut down as well which stopped sending messages to the frontal lobe. With the frontal lobe not receiving any messages from the limbic system, Gages emotions went rampant, going from a really nice guy to a really not so nice guy. By knowing more about Mr. Gage and what he went through, I now know why he acted the way he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of his female characters are celebrated to this day for being original and fierce in their convictions. One thing that makes his female leads really stand out is the fact that they were created in a time when patriarchy and female submission were norms among society. At this point in time, Elizabeth had been on the throne for just about six years. By the time Shakespeare moved to London in the mid 1580 s, there had already been a definite shift in political and social mindset, but largely, the norms were the same as they had always been. For women at this time, there was not a whole lot of decision making that was left up to them. For the most part, their parents (primarily, their fathers) would auction them off to the highest bidder. If a woman chose to remain single or was undesirable to suitors, any responsibility for her finances and well being would fall on the eldest male relative (Father or Brother). Marriage was the only way for a woman to acquire any title or land. Even when married, the woman was still entitled to nothing, and had very little options to make money even if they were allowed to. The only available professions to them were that of housework or service to nobles. • 42. Character Development In The Scarlet Letter By Nathanial... The Scarlet Letter by Nathanial Hawthorne often uses character development to foreshadow the inevitable outcome of the novel. Hawthorne wrote, And now, through the chamber which these spectral thoughts had made so ghastly, glided Hester Prynne leading along little Pearl, in her scarlet garb, and pointing her forefinger, first at the scarlet letteron her bosom, and then at the clergyman s own chest. This quote foreshadows the ending of the novel, including Dimmesdale s confession and demise. Hester Prynneand Dimmesdale both show a strong development of character throughout the novel which all contribute to the final outcome. In this society and period of time, Hester is considered to have deviated from the norm. Many valued and followed Puritan beliefs and it appeared as if Hester had strayed from the path. When the novel began, she was separated from the rest of the Puritan world, and behind the wooden door. The door symbolized sin; those on the inside have violated the traditional beliefs of a faithful Puritan. Hester was punished for committing adultery, and therefore was isolated from the rest of society. She is ashamed of her actions, and because of them, she is required to wear a scarlet letter upon her breast. After attempts of covering the letter, she is informed that it is part of her punishment and must be worn at all times.
