Regarding output, Corrective Feedback (CF) caters chance for learners to improve their
interlanguage when interlocutors provide correct input (recast) or attempt eliciting the correct
output from learners (prompt). Ammar and Spada (2006) conducted research to compare the
effectiveness of recasts and prompts on Francophone learners of English at different levels. The
study focused on the third person possessive determiners (his and her) which are problematic to
French native speakers. After being instructed the rule and through some practices, learners would
be given either recasts or prompts to errors regarding his and her, or no CF in the control group.
Participants were assessed three times: pre test, immediate post test and delayed post test. The

Palmer, in his book, Twelve Who Ruled, however, takes this period and skillfully turns it into a
written masterpiece. The book is narrated from the point of view of someone with an omniscient
knowledge of the subject matter, who is reflecting back on the period from the outside.
The book tells the story of a brief moment in history when twelve men (Robespierre, Barere, Saint
Just, Couthon, Lindet, Carnot, Saint Andre, Prieur, Varenne, Herbois, Scholles, and Duvernois)

In 1866, many people had dreams to make fortunes from the gold rushes around the world. The
main character in The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton follows this same dream. The story follows
Walter Moody on his adventure at a place called Hokitika with a common dream; to become a rich
gold miner. Upon his arrival, he is immediately introduced to an investigation of a mysterious
crime. With this knowledge, Moody has to follow the speculated ideas of the town members to try
to piece together and put apart the dreamand the reality. Throughout the novel, Moody becomes
more trusting and gets an ambition to help the people. Walter Moody advances in the community of
Hokitika through accepting the reality making him more trusting and ambitious with his goals of
helping the town while letting go of the dream he previously held.
During the beginning of the novel, Walter Moody has a dream to make a fortune through digging
gold out of the mines in the town Hokitika. Upon his arrival he finds himself in the middle of a
group of people trying to piece together the incident that had occurred on the night of the 14th of
January. Moody does not trust this room of people. This is seen as he holds simple information
from them, like he did with a man named Balfour who was trying to find out what issues he was
