Essay On Charles Manson
How does someone get sentenced to death row for murders without actually killing a single person?
For someone whose specialty is brainwashing and cult building, this is quite the simple feat. In the
words of Charles Manson, We re not in Wonderland anymore Alice. To even remotely comprehend
the mind of Manson, one must dive headfirst into his turbulent past, multiple murders, and current
imprisonment. Troubled childhoods lie behind many criminals, and Charles Mansonis no different.
On November 12, 1934, Charles Milles Manson was born to a drug abusing, criminally involved,
16 year old girl in Ohio ( Manson Family ). She is said to have sold him for a single pitcher of
beer (Henderson). As one can expect, this was only the start of an extremely troubled life. By
the age of 9, Manson had gone from residing with family members to living at reformatory
schools. He was beginning to follow in his mother s footsteps, also committing his first theft at
this age (Henderson). Young Charlie s life would take an even sharper downward turn as the
years progressed. Most know Manson as a notorious cult leader who inspired his followers to do
the unthinkable. Upon reaching age 34, Manson chose to start a family (Abbas). However, this
one would be far different than any other family to ever exist. He pushed the boundaries of
sanity for several young girls whom he lured into his evil movement. Charles believed that an
enormous race war would bring about the end of the world. He predicted that African Americans
would prevail. During all of this, he planned to hide out with his family in the desert, only to
emerge and take over the world because he thought the African Americans would be unfit to lead
themselves. He even referenced himself as Jesus Christ incarnate (Abbas). All of Manson s
predictions came from what he thought were hidden messages in the song Helter Skelter by the
Beetles (Henderson). It seemed as if all that was left to do was wait for the end to come. When the
apocalypse failed to start, Manson took matters into his own hands. His master plan was to send
members of his cult to commit murders, thinking African Americans would be blamed, thus the
start of the race war. The first round of murders are

Huckleberry Finn Literary Techniques
In the year 1884, American author and humorist Mark Twain published The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn, the sequel to his most famous piece, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. This sequel
was very successful. Its success can be attributed to Mark Twain s appealing writing style and
tasteful use of literary techniques. The most prominent techniques used in this classic novel include
diction, language, irony, imagery, as well as tone.
In the novel, Mark Twain uses diction and language to achieve more authentic characters. The
dialogue and narration from the main protagonist, Huckleberry Finn, is simple and very informal.
It makes it clear that he is a young, uneducated, backwoods South Western boy living in the 1830s.
If Huck were to be grammatically

Attila The Hun Essay example
Attila the Hun is known as one of the most ferocious leaders of ancient times. He was given the
nickname Scourge God because of his ferocity. During the twentieth century, Hun was one of the
worst name you could call a person, due to Attila. The Huns were a barbaric and savage group of
people, and Attila, their leader, was no exception. He was the stereotypical sacker of cities and
killer of babies.
The Huns lasted long after their disappearance in mythology and folklore, as the bad guy.
Generally, they were not fun people to be around. Priscus saw Attila the Hunat a banquet in 448.
Priscus described him as being a short, squat man with a large head and deep set eyes. He also had
a flat nose and a thin beard.

When they were forced to fight in close combat, they often fought without regard to their own
safety. They often fought with swords, and they threw a net over their enemy as to entangle his
limbs so that he could no longer walk or ride or horse. This is how they earned the title of
Barbarians. The Romans initial impression of the Huns was fear. But after awhile, the Huns settled
on the coast of Danube, the great Hungarian Plain, and became allies of the Romans, instead of
attacking them as enemies. In return, the Roman Empire paid them a sum of money to not attack
them Roman Empire.
The Huns agreed with this, and remained mostly neutral toward the Romans for about fifty years.
Things between the Romans and the Huns began to fall apart when Attila was named King of the
Huns in 434. Attila and his brother, Bleda, inherited a large empire. They had been made joint
kings of a vast area from the Alps to the Caspian seas, in the east, to the Baltic Sea in the West.
Because of the Roman treaty with the Huns at Margus, The Romans had to pay the Huns seven
hundred pounds of gold annually to leave them alone. Attila s actions between 435 and 439 are
basically unknown, and were not major or overly important. It is said that he may have subdued
barbarians to the north of east of his dominions, but no one can be sure. In 441, Rome had become
delinquent on their payments to the Huns, so Attila and Bleda decided to attack the Roman Empire.

Chapter four had very interesting information when it came to prenatal care, complications during
birth and, new mothers. The first main point is prenatal care which is very important for the
mother. When the mother is on her first trimester they have many benefits, they will learn on what
they have to eat and what they have to do also what they have to avoid. The second main point, is
the complications of birth. Any birth can be complicated but young mothers can be more at risks
during childbirth. Also by a baby being breech it can cause a emergency c section where the mother

1. INTRODUCTION
DNA is an acronym, which stands for deoxyribonucleic acid. Every cell in an individual s body,
with the exception of red blood cells and eggs or sperm, contains the full genetic program for that
individual in its DNA. The human genome, which consists of about 3 billion base pairs, harbours
genetically relevant information that is essential for the characterization of each individual. [1] By
continuous researches it has been seen that every person has a unique DNA i.e. no two persons
have the same set of DNA sequence. For a long time only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When such DNA profiles are stored one after another in a system, what we get is a DNA Database.
The issue that we discuss in this paper pertains to development of DNA Databases, their necessity
versus the ethical problems that they pose.
2. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The purpose of this paper is to understand basics of DNA profiling, its history and its position
around the world. The aim is also to discuss the underlying debate of decades as to whether DNA
databases must be maintained or not. It is a relevant discussion in view of draft bill having been
proposed in India with respect to DNA profiling and database. The objective is to deduce as to
what will be the happy medium if such database is introduced in India and also to realize the
problems that the system may have to encounter.
3. SCOPE
The scope of this paper is confined to study in brief about DNA profiling and not go into in depth
discussion of scientific methods involved and development of this technique through the years.
This study will concentrate on social aspects of this technique and of DNA Database so as to
understand its implications on general masses and their private lives.
4. HISTORY OF DNA PROFILING
DNA profiling, which is sometimes interchangeably also called DNA fingerprinting or DNA testing
is a technique that is used to identify individuals by their genetic fingerprint i.e. unique
characteristics of DNA of an

Rape and Intimate Partner Abuse In The Lesbian Community...
In every 45 seconds, someone is sexually violated in the United States. Out of every 6 women, one
has experienced an attempted rape or complete rape. Lesbians and bisexual women remain at
increased risk of sexual victimization compared to heterosexual women. In order for a woman to
determine the direction of her life, she must first determine her sexuality. Sexuality is a deep,
integral part of any human s life. This should not be a subject of coercion or debate. The society
must recognize that a woman has the right to freely pre determine her sexuality without oppression
and discrimination (Burn, 2004). Traditionally, women throughout history and culture have
undertaken the role of independent, non heterosexual, women connected existence.... Show more

Women neither become lesbians due to shortage of men nor because they were abused by men.
Lesbians, just like women in heterosexual relationships are subjected to physical, sexual and verbal
abuse by their partners. Abusive dominating partner may subject the partner to emotional, physical
and psychological abuse. The notion that a woman does not possess the strength or aggressiveness
possessed by men is wrong and misplaced. Cases of lesbians being abused by their partners have
been reported in the United States and other parts of the world including South Africa. Studies on
domestic violence have been carried out for decades. In recent years, scholars have been paying
attention to domestic violence in the context of non heterosexual relationships. They have called
for intensive research of lesbian intimate partner violence (IPV) and into the experience of lesbian
survivors (Walters, 2011). There is a myth regarding lesbian utopia. The myth originated from the
idea that societies in which friendships and relationships are void of men are protected from the
natural control and power men possess over women in the patriarchal society. This utopian myth
has the perception that since lesbian relationships are composed of two women, then a kind of
default egalitarianism is naturally created. Such a myth encourages the delusion that lesbian
communities are more enlightened than

Grecian Statue By Jeanette Winterson
Humans have a long history of expressing ourselves through medium for varying reasons that
have not always had to do with survival. We as a species have continued to try and portray our
visons from inside the mind to the tangible world for our fellow beings by using drawings. There
are a multitude of ways that the mind can reach our world. Some ways are seen as more familiar
than others. If there are more familiar ways, then there is also a less familiar way. The fine arts
such as art are what separates a satirical essay from a Grecian statue. Jeanette Winterson examines
what art means to in our larger society and how to learn to truly appreciate and experience art.

Miami Marlins Case Study
Miami Marlins

Although the Marlins finished in third place in the NL East last year,
Miami still finished a full 19 games out of first place. In the race for the Wild Card, the deficit was
even higher. By the end of the season, the Marlins were 26 games back.

The offseason was
a rather quiet one for the Marlins. Miami seems content moving forward with its young cast of
players. The Marlins only moves were a few free agency additions to the pitching staff. Their
biggest haul was the signing of Wei Yin Chen to a five year, $80 million contract, while the
Marlins also signed pitcher Edwin Jackson, who could bounce back from bullpen duties in 2015
to earn a rotation spot. Jackson s ERA as a starting pitcher increased each year from 2011
2014.

Unfortunately for the Phillies, they finished below the Braves last year in the NL East.
Philadelphia wasn t only last in the division, the Phillies also had the worst record in MLB at 63
99. However, the dreadful season earned Philadelphia the first pick in this year s MLB Draft in
June.

The Phillies rebuild began when they finally decided to dismantle the old core that
won the World Series in 2008. From that title team, the Phillies traded the middle infielders who
began their careers with the organization. Philadelphia traded shortstop Jimmy Rollins after the
2014 season and second baseman Chase Utley in August of last season. Both players were traded
to the Los Angeles Dodgers and brought back a few pitching prospects. The Phillies biggest
return came from trading pitcher Cole Hamels to the Texas Rangers in an eight player deal at the
deadline last year. Philadelphia sent Hamels and reliever Jake Diekman to the Rangers for
pitchers Matt Harrison and Jake Thompson, minor league pitching prospects Jared Eickhoff and
Alec Asher, catcher Jorge Alfaro and outfielder Nick Williams. However, Harrison has battled
back issues, so his castoff was merely a way for the Rangers to get the contract off their
books.

As this offseason began, it was new Phillies general manager Matt Klentak s job
to continue the rebuild. Klentak s first move was trading closer Ken Giles and shortstop Jonathan
Arauz to the Houston Astros for former No. 1 overall pick Mark Appel and pitchers Thomas
Eshelman, Brett Oberholtzer, Vincent Velasquez and Harold Arauz. The Phillies deals have
replenished their farm system after years of being trade deadline buyers depleted it. While most of
their prospects continue to develop in the minor leagues, a few could contribute to the Phillies this
year.

The outfield will feature two Rule 5 draft picks, Odubel Herrera and Tyler Goeddel.

The Controversy Of Bribery
A bribe is to persuade someone to act in one s favor, typically illegally or dishonestly, by a gift of
money or other inducements. Many companies have been accused of bribery within their
organization. Some of America s most well known companies have been accused of this crime.
Famous brands we all know such as Johnson Johnson, Hewlett Packard, Tyson Foods, Ralph
Lauren, Wal Mart and many more have all allegedly been responsible for giving money or other
benefits in exchange for favors that will bend the law. Today, corruption costs the global economy
some $2.6 trillion every year, or 5 percent of global GDP , according to the World Economic
Forum. In the United States, stricter enforcement has increased and more companies have been

One way for a company to avoid bribery within the company is to assess all the risks that have to
do with bribery. Businesses must educate the employees about the risks involved. In most
countries, bribery or acts of corruption are punishable by law which can bring a bad name to the
company and later lead to trust issues. This can severely hinder the profitability of a business. A
company that has been found guilty of bribes can lose consumer confidence; which results in the
loss of profit. Companies must be aware of the differences and rules of conducting business
within other countries and avoid any malpractices (Prevent Bribery). Another way to avoid
bribery is there must be a zero tolerance policy towards bribery within the entire company. This
can be ensured by top management explaining that bribery can lead to severe consequences which
can involve imprisonment, heavy fines, and termination. Additionally, a company must thoroughly
run a background check of the client s, vendors, and partners; as well as their credibility in the
marketplace. Any cases of past history involving instances of bribery or corruption should serve as
a red flag or warning to a

My Trip On The California Health Care Facility Essay
For my discovery event, I went on a tour of The California Health Care Facility in Stockton. I
selected this event because I was very curious to know what it was like to work in a prison setting.
My desire for future work settings has been between a nursing facility and prison facility. Before
the visit I expected to know how a group was done in lower level prison and the safetyprecautions
implemented. The facility tour was lead by CTRS John Widenmann and Gaganjot Singh. The first
thing we toured was there medical mall building where all the prisons went to thee appointments
for physical therapyoccupational therapy, dentist, diagnostics, x rays and medical needs. John
told us that some inmates walk with out a guard because they have a card to specify where there
suppose to be. If they refuse to go to there appointment than force is used too make them. Along
the tour he mentioned that the rec therapists sees the inmate five time more in a week than other
members of a treatment team. We were able to visit a facilitation room, which had a class for
inmates to do artwork. One of the CTRS on staff mentioned that it is hard to have supplies for
the art projects. After touring the medical facilities, we walked a long way to the prison area,
dorm area and workspace where the recreation therapist ran groups. John showed us their offices
that over looked the play yard for some prisoners. This can be good for therapist to observe

What is the most effect way to increase your physical fitness and improve your health? In the
1970 s jogging became a popular form of fitness. The 1980 s brought us Jane Fonda, Jazzersize,

the whole Beach Body franchise. The Army still clings to the idea that running, push ups and sit

that works. The conflicting research and opinions when it comes to physical training and overall
health is confusing at best. Mostly, the overwhelming amount of information, techniques, programs,

not knowing where to start or what kind of training would move them towards their goals. One of
the most ardently debated fitness topics is which form of cardiovascular training is most effective

Hypnic Jerk Essay
You re lying on the bed, and you re almost falling asleep. Suddenly, you have a feeling of falling
from the rooftop of a skyscraper straight to the ground, and your legs twitch. We are familiar with
this felling because we all have the experience during our sleep sometimes. Hypnic jerk, which is
also known as sleep twitch, is not a sleep disorder; instead, it is a common and natural body
reaction in sleep hours. with some research suggesting that 60 to 70 percent of people experience
them (Castro). Although psychologists and scientists still don t discover the exact causes of hypnic

The hypnagogic jerk represents the side effects of a hidden battle for control in the brain that
happens each night on the cusp between wakefulness and dreams, according to Stafford. There
is a network of cells lies below the cortex called the reticular activating system that governs basic
physiological functions that keeps us awake. This system also considered as the motor system.
There is a contradictory system named VLPO, and this system locates near the optic nerve and
governs sleepiness. In REM (Rapid Eye Movement), which is a sleep phase, the body muscles
are in paralysis. Stafford s theory is that the reticular activating system struggles with VLPO
when a person enters REM. He suggests that if the reticular activating system takes over VLPO
as REM sets in, the remaining daytime energy bursts out and leads to some random muscles
movements. In other words, hypnic jerks are the last gasps of normal daytime motor control
(Stafford). No matter what the exact causes of hypnic jerk are, we don t need to consider the
twitch as a sleep disorder and to be afraid of it. As many researchers says, it is a normal
physiological phenomenon, after

obligations and rights. The laws set up standards with regards to the product quality and services
provided, and these standards are getting higher annually. The rule of law also protects the property,
including intellectual property. Legislation of each country provides set of rules how the
trademarks, patents, copyrights, etc. to be reserved. Also legislation covers financial matters, for
instance relation of debtors and creditors under bankruptcy law. As we can from the examples
mentioned above, the norms of law establish standards and regulations for all parties. Without rules
of law, conducting business would become chaotic, as the parties do not know what to expect from
the other parties.

The Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act
The Chesapeake Bay is the largest estuary in the United States. It is located on the eastern
seaboard, with the upper portion of the bay in Maryland and the lower portion in Virginia. The
Chesapeake Bay is vital to the ecology and economy of both Virginia and Maryland. There are
more than one hundred fifty rivers that flow into the bay. Within the Chesapeake Bay, there are
around 2,700 species that live there. Needless to say, this is a very important ecosystem that needs
to be protected. The Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act does just that. The Virginia
General
Assembly enacted the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act in 1988 in an effort to promote the
general welfare of the people of the commonwealth. The act is effective in 84 different localities
throughout Virginia. This act was designed to have a positive impact on water quality of the bay
itself, and also water throughout Virginia that feed into the bay. Along with improving water
quality, it was designed to still allow reasonable development to continue taking place. The act is
designed around the theory that land can be used and developed in a way that minimizes negative
impacts on water quality. There is a balance between state and local economic interests and water
quality that is implemented by a cooperative partnership between the state and Tidewater local
government. This partnership helps reduce and prevent nonpoint source pollution. The Chesapeake
Bay Preservation Act is an extension of the public trust

Dr Cohan Body Image Summary
The video that Dr. Cohan shared was really insightful and very informative.Eating disorders and
bodty image has been an issue in our society for a very long time. A lot of points were made by
Dr. Cohan to help her audience understand obesity and body image in relation to the sociology
view of things. For most of us, our body is very private. It s something that we cherish and
respect and take care of. It is our home and our responsibility is to take care for it. But like Dr.
Cohan pointed out, as private as our body is to us it is actually a public issue that relates to
social structure. She states that the body is socially and culturally constructed. I can agree with
this statement. Society and different cultural aspects definitely influence and determine the
decisions we make in regards to our body and body image. I found it interesting in knowing the
different ways a body could be viewed, in terms of how it can be percieved, valued, and treated.
The way Milian King suggested that the body becomes a sight for asserting, imposing,
performing, challenging, and destabilizing categories of gender, race ethnicity, and sexuality. On
a day to day basis, one doesn t think of all the ways the image of a body is broken down, but when
it is brought to light in this way, it is true. I agree with Dr. Cohan on... Show more content on

What Does Sin Symbolize In The Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne emphasizes symbolism using elements of nature that represent good vs. evil,
sin, and continual rebellion against Puritan society. The basis of Nathaniel s writing style is
symbolism and allegory, (where concrete objects usually have a hidden meaning). The symbolism
found most importantly throughout the novel so far would be light, darkness, and the rose bush,
all found in nature. Symbolism is present throughout the entire novel. The author uses light as a
symbol of good or evil. In the Puritan community, it may be believed that light will shine on those
who have not sinned. The others not in the light are certainly sinners and should not have beauty.
A true example of showing that Hester no longer remains in the sin free light is, Her prison door
was thrown open and she came forth into the sunshine, which, falling on all alike, seemed, to her
sick and morbid heart, as if meant for no other purpose than to reveal the scarlet letter on her...

For the characters in the novel, they seem to separate the town into two main areas. One being
the Puritan community town, tight knit and connected, free of sin, and the other being the
forest. The forest is dark and has major characters of sin in it such as the Devil, Roger
Chillingworth (spending years in the forest with Native Americans), and now holds the residence
of Hester Prynne, all symbols of darkness. A quote that is important to represent the dark forest is
when Hester and Pearl are leaving the governor s hall. It shows the importance of what the forest
truly represents stating, Wilt thou go with us tonight? There will be a merry company in the
forest; and I well nigh promised the Black Man that comely Hester Prynne should make one, said
by Mistress Hibbins (Ch. 8 pg. 104). Mistress is referencing the Devil who cultivates in the forest.
This also states that there are dark Puritans in the community who lean their spirits into the

The Transformation Of Deportation Of Mass Extermination
Robert Smith History 345 A TA Washnis 12/5/14 The Transformation from Deportation to Mass
Extermination The legacy the Second World War is often inundated in a series of disparagements,
condemnations, and outright disgust against the perpetrators of the industrial scale mass murder
that was the Holocaust. This provides both positive and negative outcomes for those who seek to
study the Holocaust and understand it from all angles. The demonization of key Nazi luminaries
like Hitler and Himmler are highly appropriate given their ruthless and inhumane actions against
European Jewry, ethnic minorities, their own German citizenry, and an international global
standard of morality. Their reputations for inhumanity are well deserved. Nonetheless,... Show more

Ultimately, these men in addition to Nazi collaborators, everyday people doing their duty, and
Hitler s military machine were responsible for engineering the Holocaust. How did the goals
change from expulsion to mass extermination? The answer is that unless Nazi ideology were to
change, the contingencies of war made it a necessity. Germany and the Nazi regime had an
expansive outline for the execution of their goals. A predominant force in their agenda was the
notion of Judenpolitik, or how they would approach the treatment of European Jewry. The Nazis
had drawn up plans for the island of Madagascar to house Europe s Jews, however, given the
constraints of mass populations management, the Nazis settled for Ghettos as a provisional
measure. The vehicle for dealing with the Jews in the early stages of the war was through a system
of segregation in Europe, coined Ghettoization. These quasi internment camps acted as the Nazis
main device to control the Jewish population, just short of exterminating them. In fact, the Nazis
always strived to be rid of the Jewish population, however the jump from the notion of deportation
to the wanton destruction of millions of lives through mass shootings, gassings, and savage work
details was abrupt. Additionally, the fact that often the Germans were aided by collaborators in the
lands they invaded should make

Select One Of The Three Characteristics Of Information...
1.Select one of the three characteristics of information security (CIA) and explain its importance as
related to the development of policy, education, OR technology.
Confidentiality is one of the three characteristics of the C.I.A. model. It establishes those with
sufficient privileges and the need to access the information. Confidentiality is most related to
information privacy. It is extremely important to protect the information of employees, customers,
or patients. No matter what type of organization it is it will disclose confidential information. That
being said, all confidential information is vulnerable to accidental exposure or an intentional hack.
If an unauthorized individual or system views the information, confidentiality is breached.
Confidentiality contains several measures that are applied to protect the confidentiality of
information. These measures include information classification, sure document and data storage,
application of general security policies, education of information custodians and end users.
Confidentiality must be met in the storage, processing, and transmission of data in an organization.
For example, we are going to look at a major recent data breach. On March 8, 2017, the US
department of homeland security sent Equifax and notice to patch a vulnerability in versions of the
Apache Struts software. On March 9, Equifax dispersed the information to applicable personnel.

Country Profile on Finland
Country Profile on Finland
Finland is a republic located in Northern Europe between Sweden and Russia, with Norway to the
north. Finland is thought to have been settled soon after the Ice Age and first inhabited by the Sami
people. By the 12th century, Finns speakers had pushed the Sami people out and Christian
mercenaries were preparing to convert Finland. In 1157, as a result of a crusade led by Swedish
King Eric IX, Sweden conquered Finland and as such, converted Finland to Christianity. However,
by 1809, Sweden surrendered Finland to Russia. The Czar, Alexander I of Russia, set up Finland as
a Grand Duchy, establishing himself as its monarch.
In 1917, in the midst of the March Revolution in Russia, where Russians protested as a result of
the effects of World War I, Finland took advantage of the time to declare its independence from
Russia. In 1919, Finland adopted the constitution that is still used today and became a republic. By
1939, Finland was once again attacked by the Soviet Union. Joseph Stalin offered Finland territory
in exchange for land that would protect northern Russia from an attack from the west. However,
Finland refused to accept this offer and the Soviet Union used force to obtain the territory, starting
The Winter War. After a few months of resistance, The Finns lost and the war culminated with the
Treaty of Moscow, which resulted in Finland surrendering 1and to the Soviet Union.

Galen Strawson On Moral Responsibility
Galen Strawson refutes the idea that we have free will and claims that we cannot be morally
responsible for our actions. According to his basic argument nothing can be the cause of itself
or causa sui, and in order for one to be morally responsible for their actions they have to be the
cause of one self. Therefore, since we are not causa sui we are not morally responsible for our
actions. He claims that we do not have free willbecause we do actions that have a reason behind
them and if a person acts for a reason they act that way because of how they are mentally. Thus, if
no one responsible for their mental state they are not responsible for the actions that occur. A
person has to be responsible for their self makeup to be morally responsible and since no one is
responsible for this they are not morally responsible for their actions.
Moral responsibility from my view is for someone to do something and later is held accountable for
their actions. To be morally responsible one must have the power or right to act or think as one
wants without restraint. Whether they use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jon Krakauer Research Paper
Jon Krakauer is a journalist for magazine called Outside, that lives in Seattle, Washington. One day,
the magazine Jon worked for got a call from Adventure Consultants, an expedition team that guides
people up Mount Everest for a hefty fee, asking them to send a reporter to write about climbing
Mount Everest. Krakauer immediately volunteered for the task. The Outside paid for all Krakauer s
climbingexpenses, and about a year later he began his journey. After arriving in Nepal and
meeting the rest of the team, Krakauer and the crew made the trek to reach Base Camp. Base
Camp was where all climbers stayed to become acclimated to the high altitude of 17,600 feet
before climbing 11,430 feet more to the peak of Mount Everest. Rob Hall, an experienced climber
that was leading the team, had a plan for the crew to become acclimated to the thin air by making
three partial ascents up Everest, before climbing to the summit. After proving to Hall that the team
was ready, they picked a clear day to reach the top of Mount Everest.... Show more content on

Even though they were supplied with oxygen, everyone on the team experienced narcosis due to
the high altitude, making it hard to think clearly. Krakauer, Hall, and a few others reached the
summit of Everest at the turnaround time, but not everyone made it to the top. Once the team
started climbing back down, they ran into Doug Hansen, a 46 year old that had previously climbed
Mount Everest yet did not reach the summit, who was determined to reach the top this time. Hall
took a gamble and decided to go back up to the summit with Hansen even though it was past the
turnaround time, but Krakauer and the others continued their

DNA is found inside the nucleus of cells. It has two complementary, antiparallel strands. The
strands contain nucleotides, which each have a phosphoric acid, deoxyribose sugar and a base.
There are two groups of bases purine and pyrimidine; adenine and guanine are purine bases, and
cytosine and thymine are pyrimidine bases. A purine must pair with a pyrimidine, a purine can t
pair with another purine nor can a pyrimidine pair with another pyrimidine, this is in order to ensure

Description And Rationale Of Research Methodologies
III. RESEARCH METHODS USED IN STUDY
A. Description and rationale of research methodologies The focus of my research relied on
numerous different sources, including surveys of the city, interviewing the manager, questioning
the employees while asking them to fill out a survey. I used various resources to obtain my
information using surveys, interviews, and questioning the employees of the store. The primary
goal of the survey was to enhance my understanding of the imperative issues they face when trying
to motivate them to work hard. In other words, I tried to understand how the workers viewed
management and analyze the different ways I can inspire them to be more productive.
Forms of Research Goals of Research
Secondary1.Gather background information on the store s services and operations. 2.Gain insight
into the current market segments and growing sectors of the population, along with generational
data. 3.Find out what customers and the market think about the store s current state.
Primary1.Information about the store s current productivity enhancing program, target market, and
other basic yet necessary numerical and qualitative data to develop a conception of the current state
of the store 2.Find out the manager s opinion on employee engagement strategies and how it affects
the stores productivity. 3.What customers and current employees think of the management and find
possible ways to create a more productive environment for the employees to work in.

Symbolism In The House Of The Scorpion
In The House of the Scorpion, Nancy Farmer states, No one can tell the difference between a
clone and a human. That s because there isn t any difference. The idea of clones being inferior is a
lie. Members of the AlacrГЎn household try to choose Matt s destiny before he is created and
impose false allegations on him throughout his life. The belief that Matt is dangerous, a useless
clone, and will become like El PatrГіn leaves him no room to create an identity of his own. In the
House of the Scorpion, Matteo AlacrГЎn is faced with the internal conflict of what his real identity
is and the author interprets that he does not have his destiny chosen for him but he becomes his
own person through his experiences. The theft of Matteo AlacrГЎn s identity

Campus Molds Advantages And Disadvantages
Moving in as a freshman is great. You are excited, everyone helps you move in, and it goes by
fast. Moving out after freshman year is another story. The move out process is tiring, no one helps
you, and it takes forever. The young men who started Campus Crates felt these same feelings for
move in and move out of college. Their solution to the problem was creating a moving and storage
company that caters to college students. Campus Crates was started by two students both named
Ryan after their freshman year of college at Baylor University. The company became an LLC in
2016 and started moving students that summer (Leland, 2016). Campus Crates goal is to make
the lives of parents and students easier by relieving the inconvenience and expense of moving to
and from college. Campus Crates is an on demand storage service that only requires you to
register, pay, schedule a time for boxes to be dropped off, and then pack the boxes at your own
convenience. Then they will pick up your belongings, store it in a secure facility, and then return
your belongings to your new residence (Mycampuscrates.com, 2017). Although Campus Crates was
established in 2016, their concept has proven to be successful.
Strengths
There are no other companies near the Baylor area that offer what Campus Crates offers. This fact
allows Campus Crates to have a competitive advantage over other storage companies. Campus
Crates is the only company that delivers packing supplies, picks up packed boxes, stores boxes

Similes In George Elliott Clarke s The Wisdom Of Shelley
The Wisdom Of Shelley by George Elliott Clarke is a beautifully written poem with a darker
meaning. There are many interesting things hiding within the poem but there are a few specific
ones I will mention. First, there are many different poetic devices used within this short poem. This
includes imagery, similes, and repetition. Second, the symbol of this poem is the rosewhich is
mentioned a few times throughout the poem. Third, the theme for The Wisdom Of Shelley is
deception. Each of these points contributes to my understanding of the poem in its own way.
There are many poetic devices used throughout The Wisdom Of Shelley . Repetition of words
was the first thing that really jumped out at me. Clarke repeats the words words words words
(4), and loved loved loved (15). What I believe this represents is how the character X only says
empty words to what I presume is his family. If you need to repeat the word loved three times,
then it starts to feel like you are only saying the words to make the other person happy.
The first few lines of the poem say You come down, after / five winters, X, / bristlin with roses (1
3) and this can be taken as X has been gone for five years showing no signs of returning. He
suddenly shows up with roses one day and expects all to be forgotten and forgiven. The presumed
child does not want to forgive him and forget about what happened. This really sets the mood and
tone for what is going to happen in the poem. Since it is

Essay on Atticus Finch
It is widely believed that Atticus Finch is one of the greatest heroes of modern literature. My
opinion varies greatly with this remark. Atticus Finch is not a hero because he only had greater
morals than the people of his time, he wanted to be a good role model for his children, and was
only doing his job as a lawyer. It was his responsibility to defend Tom Robinson and give him an
honest trial. He may have done things out of the way, but that was just to demonstrate his point.
Atticus also never did anything for the benefit of other people. He only put himself in danger to
prove his point. One of the leading reasons to think that Atticus Finchis not a herois because he was
merely doing his job. His job as a lawyer was to defend Tom... Show more content on

Many everyday heroes such as firefighters and doctors save lives everyday. It is their job to save
the lives of people. Atticus Finch s job is not to save lives, only to provide a fair trial. Other
heroes such as Superman are constantly putting themselves in danger to protect the lives of
people. Atticus put himself in danger once to prove his point. He didn t even need to put
himself in danger. It was not necessary for his cause to put himself in danger, he only wanted to
protect Tom, which someone else could have done. It was not his job to protect Tom, only to
represent him. Atticus may have taken the case because of Scout and Jem. He wanted to be a
good role model for his children so they would look up to him and follow in his footsteps. He
wanted to set a good example for Scout and Jem and teach them to stand up for what is right. He
wanted his children to go against racial prejudice and follow what they believe. You can prove
this because in the book, Atticus tells Scout to view everybody as equals. He even has Walter
Cunningham over for dinner so he can prove this. He believes that everybody should properly
represented. Talmage Boston states in his selection of the Texas bar journal from June, 2010 that
Atticus recognizes that a lawyer has a responsibility to serve those who can t afford to pay.
(Boston, 485) It may be argued that Atticus is a hero because he defended Tom Robinson and went
against many other people in the city. A

The strategy of the company follows the mission and vision statement and is an assessment of the

action for his or her organization (Achua Lussier 2010, p. 427). The strategies of companies include
such actions as diversification, joint ventures, mergers, and acquisitions, new product development,

Gapdh Lab Report
Abstract
Affinity purification is a powerful method of isolating a protein of interest from a complex
mixture of proteins. the aim of this experiment was to isolate the enzyme GAPDH from a complex
mixture of proteins, in this case yeast lysate. in order to achieve this, a range of methods were used
such as protein, GAPDH activity and ADH assays, SDS PAGE and imumunodetection of ADH and
GAPDH on western blot. The results showed that the isolation of GAPDH was achieved albeit,
extremely with the % recoveries of the elution being abnormally high due to abnormally low initial
material values. The results suggested overall that isolation GAPDH from yeast lysate using
affinity purification is in fact a somewhat effective method.
Methods
Affinity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was especially high in elution 1 and 2 who had values of 527% and 514% respectively,
indicating a high GAPDH activity especially elution 1. This is supported by the fact that elution 1
had the highest specific activity with a value of 0.0017 umoles/min/mg. it is however difficult to
see in figure 2, with the number of bands being seemingly lower than there should be.
The SDS PAGE Electrophoresis (figure 1) contained different samples of the yeast lysate. From the
gel the bands are clear and distinct with the YNSMY YNFT having the thickest and most distinct of
columns making the cibracon blue an efficient tool for affinity chromatography. The protein
concentration from YNSM to YNW4 fluctuated with a general decreasing trend however the gel
does not distinctively show this.
Limitations
The % protein recovery from the ADH assay was 556%, which could be due to a dilution error,
most likely that the initial material had abnormally low values. It was expected that elution 3
(YNE3) would have the lowest activity in GAPDH, from table 2 it is clear that it had the highest
specific activity but the lowest total activity and thus the lowest % protein recovery.
Overall, the results suggest that, this was somewhat of an effective method in isolation the enzyme
GAPDH from yeast

Examples Of Sacrifice In The Gift Of The Magi
O.Henry s warm and comforting tone and descriptive style keep the audience captivated until
the end without losing the essence of the story, which revolves around love and sacrifice. The
story is about a poor, young couple on Christmas Eve and their sacrifice and how they overcome
their struggles with love. The author s description of the couple s life gives us a clear picture of
their status and financial struggle. When the author mentions the eight dollar rent for the
apartment, the old battered couch, and the electric bell that does not work he indicates the couple
is poor. The mistress of the household is trying to decide what to buy for her husband, Jim, with
the money she has. Even though she is distraught, she does not give up hope. Many a happy hour

Persuasive Essay Friends
Pre Test Persuasive Essay Friends is a hit television (tv) show, and has been since 1994 when it
first came out. The television show follows the lives of six friends throughout the course of 10
years. Friends is a good tv show despite some people s opinions. The show was at the top of the
charts for the years that it ran, and even more after that. The theme song itself was number 1 for 8
weeks, and after that was still within the top numbers (Billboard Staff, 2015). Even though the
show is aimed for a mature audience, it captures the qualities a hit tv show needs. Friendsis a good
tv show due to the fact that it is a comedy, includes lots of plot twists, and follows one basic
storyline.
To begin, the genre of Friends is comedy. This is the ideal genre for this show because comedies
keep people in a good mood while they watch it. Even on a bad day, a comedy can amuse,
entertain, and provoke enjoyment, (AMC Filmsite, 2017). Also, comedy is one of the most
popular choices within adult audiences. 52% of adults watch comedy tv shows, with the only
category having a higher percentage being movies at 58% (Scarborough, 2013). As well as,
comedy can mean more than one thing. Multiple types of comedy exist, as there are many ways
to make someone laugh. Friends does a very good job of touching on many different kinds of
comedy. Friends is one of the most popular genres of television, and includes elements that draw
people s interest.
Not only is Friends a comedy, it includes multiple plot twists. One of these plot twists is when
Monica and Chandler start to date. Throughout the show up until this point, Monica spends time
to tell Chandler that she is not interested which is especially outlined in an episode set at the
beach, where Chandler tries to find any way to make Monica say she d date him. An example of
this is that he says Okay, there s an apocalypse and we are the last two people on Earth... and
Monica still responds with eh. This is what caused the decision for them to start dating to be a
shock to everyone watching. Another plot twist was when Rachel got pregnant. This was clever
writing because the show had been more focused on Monica and Chandler at that point, and when
the pregnancy test was

I would say it was probably around thirteen to fourteen inches long. Once the fish was reeled in, I
scooped up some water in my pot and headed back towards the tent. After setting everything
down, I arranged a spot to build a fire. I placed the logs and sticks within a circle of rocks; then I
used my flint to strike and start a fire. One of my main concerns of living in the wild is having
purified water. I placed the pot of water over the fire. And while I waited for it to boil, I used my
knife to fillet the fish. After the water starts to boil, I always pour some into my cup and then
begin cooking my meal that way I do not have to make two trips to the water and so that it gives
it time to cool. Shortly after eating, I begin my daily tasks. Although I have a tent, it will not last
forever and there is no telling how long it could endure the weather and provide me the accurate
shelter, so I have been gradually building myself a cabin each day. I go into the woods and use my
machete to chop down trees sturdy enough to withstand its use. Once I chopped enough for the day,

As a result of the United States involvement in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and
Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) many Air Force aircraft have been forced to operate in austere
and rugged airfields. Force multiplying, rapid global mobility, and overall airpower are directly
related to the military s ability to operate in the deployed environment. Although this mission is
performed everyday and may not seem like a big deal, what is the impact to Air Force assets that

If this is one of the more advanced airports, how can FOD be prevented in this type of environment?
Multi million dollar C 17 cargo aircrafts are transiting through these airfields daily. Although this
is not strictly related to military operations, the National Aerospace FOD Prevention, Inc.
estimates the cost of FOD to the global aerospace industry at $4 billion annually (Bachlet, 2001).
FOD costs for the military each year typically run in the millions of dollars. In fiscal year 2003
alone, FOD cost the Air Force nearly 24 million dollars, diverting valuable resources needed for
the readiness of our Air Expeditionary Forces (Abela, 2003). These dollars are spent largely
repairing aircraft engine damage caused by the ingestion of foreign objects from runways and
airport FOD prevention techniques. Do these figures really relate to the military at all? How does
the Air Force combat these hazards?
Although it is much harder at austere airfields, effective FOD control programs can still be put into
place greatly reducing the high cost of foreign object damage and the potential for injury and even
death. General guidelines for prevention include training, inspection, maintenance, and
coordination. The foundation of a good prevention program is initial and recurring training for all
aerospace personnel in the identification and elimination

  • 2. Essay On Charles Manson How does someone get sentenced to death row for murders without actually killing a single person? For someone whose specialty is brainwashing and cult building, this is quite the simple feat. In the words of Charles Manson, We re not in Wonderland anymore Alice. To even remotely comprehend the mind of Manson, one must dive headfirst into his turbulent past, multiple murders, and current imprisonment. Troubled childhoods lie behind many criminals, and Charles Mansonis no different. On November 12, 1934, Charles Milles Manson was born to a drug abusing, criminally involved, 16 year old girl in Ohio ( Manson Family ). She is said to have sold him for a single pitcher of beer (Henderson). As one can expect, this was only the start of an extremely troubled life. By the age of 9, Manson had gone from residing with family members to living at reformatory schools. He was beginning to follow in his mother s footsteps, also committing his first theft at this age (Henderson). Young Charlie s life would take an even sharper downward turn as the years progressed. Most know Manson as a notorious cult leader who inspired his followers to do the unthinkable. Upon reaching age 34, Manson chose to start a family (Abbas). However, this one would be far different than any other family to ever exist. He pushed the boundaries of sanity for several young girls whom he lured into his evil movement. Charles believed that an enormous race war would bring about the end of the world. He predicted that African Americans would prevail. During all of this, he planned to hide out with his family in the desert, only to emerge and take over the world because he thought the African Americans would be unfit to lead themselves. He even referenced himself as Jesus Christ incarnate (Abbas). All of Manson s predictions came from what he thought were hidden messages in the song Helter Skelter by the Beetles (Henderson). It seemed as if all that was left to do was wait for the end to come. When the apocalypse failed to start, Manson took matters into his own hands. His master plan was to send members of his cult to commit murders, thinking African Americans would be blamed, thus the start of the race war. The first round of murders are ... Huckleberry Finn Literary Techniques In the year 1884, American author and humorist Mark Twain published The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the sequel to his most famous piece, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. This sequel was very successful. Its success can be attributed to Mark Twain s appealing writing style and tasteful use of literary techniques. The most prominent techniques used in this classic novel include diction, language, irony, imagery, as well as tone. In the novel, Mark Twain uses diction and language to achieve more authentic characters. The dialogue and narration from the main protagonist, Huckleberry Finn, is simple and very informal. It makes it clear that he is a young, uneducated, backwoods South Western boy living in the 1830s. If Huck were to be grammatically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They have called for intensive research of lesbian intimate partner violence (IPV) and into the experience of lesbian survivors (Walters, 2011). There is a myth regarding lesbian utopia. The myth originated from the idea that societies in which friendships and relationships are void of men are protected from the natural control and power men possess over women in the patriarchal society. This utopian myth has the perception that since lesbian relationships are composed of two women, then a kind of default egalitarianism is naturally created. Although the Marlins finished in third place in the NL East last year, Miami still finished a full 19 games out of first place. In the race for the Wild Card, the deficit was even higher. By the end of the season, the Marlins were 26 games back.

The offseason was a rather quiet one for the Marlins. Miami seems content moving forward with its young cast of players. The Marlins only moves were a few free agency additions to the pitching staff. Their biggest haul was the signing of Wei Yin Chen to a five year, $80 million contract, while the Marlins also signed pitcher Edwin Jackson, who could bounce back from bullpen duties in 2015 to earn a rotation spot. Jackson s ERA as a starting pitcher increased each year from 2011 2014.

Philadelphia wasn t only last in the division, the Phillies also had the worst record in MLB at 63 99. However, the dreadful season earned Philadelphia the first pick in this year s MLB Draft in June.

The Phillies rebuild began when they finally decided to dismantle the old core that won the World Series in 2008. From that title team, the Phillies traded the middle infielders who began their careers with the organization. Philadelphia traded shortstop Jimmy Rollins after the 2014 season and second baseman Chase Utley in August of last season. Both players were traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers and brought back a few pitching prospects. The Phillies biggest return came from trading pitcher Cole Hamels to the Texas Rangers in an eight player deal at the deadline last year. Philadelphia sent Hamels and reliever Jake Diekman to the Rangers for pitchers Matt Harrison and Jake Thompson, minor league pitching prospects Jared Eickhoff and Alec Asher, catcher Jorge Alfaro and outfielder Nick Williams. However, Harrison has battled back issues, so his castoff was merely a way for the Rangers to get the contract off their books.

As this offseason began, it was new Phillies general manager Matt Klentak s job to continue the rebuild. Klentak s first move was trading closer Ken Giles and shortstop Jonathan Arauz to the Houston Astros for former No. 1 overall pick Mark Appel and pitchers Thomas Eshelman, Brett Oberholtzer, Vincent Velasquez and Harold Arauz. The Phillies deals have replenished their farm system after years of being trade deadline buyers depleted it. While most of their prospects continue to develop in the minor leagues, a few could contribute to the Phillies this year.

This can severely hinder the profitability of a business. A company that has been found guilty of bribes can lose consumer confidence; which results in the loss of profit. Companies must be aware of the differences and rules of conducting business within other countries and avoid any malpractices (Prevent Bribery). Another way to avoid bribery is there must be a zero tolerance policy towards bribery within the entire company. The hypnagogic jerk represents the side effects of a hidden battle for control in the brain that happens each night on the cusp between wakefulness and dreams, according to Stafford. There is a network of cells lies below the cortex called the reticular activating system that governs basic physiological functions that keeps us awake. This system also considered as the motor system. There is a contradictory system named VLPO, and this system locates near the optic nerve and governs sleepiness. In REM (Rapid Eye Movement), which is a sleep phase, the body muscles are in paralysis. Stafford s theory is that the reticular activating system struggles with VLPO when a person enters REM. He suggests that if the reticular activating system takes over VLPO as REM sets in, the remaining daytime energy bursts out and leads to some random muscles movements. In other words, hypnic jerks are the last gasps of normal daytime motor control (Stafford). What Does Sin Symbolize In The Scarlet Letter Nathaniel Hawthorne emphasizes symbolism using elements of nature that represent good vs. evil, sin, and continual rebellion against Puritan society. The basis of Nathaniel s writing style is symbolism and allegory, (where concrete objects usually have a hidden meaning). The symbolism found most importantly throughout the novel so far would be light, darkness, and the rose bush, all found in nature. Symbolism is present throughout the entire novel. The author uses light as a symbol of good or evil. In the Puritan community, it may be believed that light will shine on those who have not sinned. The others not in the light are certainly sinners and should not have beauty. This provides both positive and negative outcomes for those who seek to study the Holocaust and understand it from all angles. Ultimately, these men in addition to Nazi collaborators, everyday people doing their duty, and Hitler s military machine were responsible for engineering the Holocaust. How did the goals change from expulsion to mass extermination? The answer is that unless Nazi ideology were to change, the contingencies of war made it a necessity. Germany and the Nazi regime had an expansive outline for the execution of their goals. A predominant force in their agenda was the notion of Judenpolitik, or how they would approach the treatment of European Jewry. The Nazis had drawn up plans for the island of Madagascar to house Europe s Jews, however, given the constraints of mass populations management, the Nazis settled for Ghettos as a provisional measure. The vehicle for dealing with the Jews in the early stages of the war was through a system of segregation in Europe, coined Ghettoization. These quasi internment camps acted as the Nazis main device to control the Jewish population, just short of exterminating them. In fact, the Nazis always strived to be rid of the Jewish population, however the jump from the notion of deportation to the wanton destruction of millions of lives through mass shootings, gassings, and savage work details was abrupt. Confidentiality is one of the three characteristics of the C.I.A. model. It establishes those with sufficient privileges and the need to access the information. Confidentiality is most related to information privacy. It is extremely important to protect the information of employees, customers, or patients. No matter what type of organization it is it will disclose confidential information. That being said, all confidential information is vulnerable to accidental exposure or an intentional hack. If an unauthorized individual or system views the information, confidentiality is breached. Confidentiality contains several measures that are applied to protect the confidentiality of information. • 31. Country Profile on Finland Country Profile on Finland Finland is a republic located in Northern Europe between Sweden and Russia, with Norway to the north. Finland is thought to have been settled soon after the Ice Age and first inhabited by the Sami people. By the 12th century, Finns speakers had pushed the Sami people out and Christian mercenaries were preparing to convert Finland. In 1157, as a result of a crusade led by Swedish King Eric IX, Sweden conquered Finland and as such, converted Finland to Christianity. However, by 1809, Sweden surrendered Finland to Russia. The Czar, Alexander I of Russia, set up Finland as a Grand Duchy, establishing himself as its monarch. In 1917, in the midst of the March Revolution in Russia, where Russians protested as a result of the effects of World War I, Finland took advantage of the time to declare its independence from Russia. In 1919, Finland adopted the constitution that is still used today and became a republic. By 1939, Finland was once again attacked by the Soviet Union. Joseph Stalin offered Finland territory in exchange for land that would protect northern Russia from an attack from the west. However, Finland refused to accept this offer and the Soviet Union used force to obtain the territory, starting The Winter War. After a few months of resistance, The Finns lost and the war culminated with the Treaty of Moscow, which resulted in Finland surrendering 1and to the Soviet Union. In general, the genogram is useful in gathering information, understanding relationship dynamics and behavioral patterns, promoting the client s self understanding, conducting assessments, and guiding the practitioner to interventions (Pope, N. • 34. Galen Strawson On Moral Responsibility Galen Strawson refutes the idea that we have free will and claims that we cannot be morally responsible for our actions. According to his basic argument nothing can be the cause of itself or causa sui, and in order for one to be morally responsible for their actions they have to be the cause of one self. Therefore, since we are not causa sui we are not morally responsible for our actions. He claims that we do not have free willbecause we do actions that have a reason behind them and if a person acts for a reason they act that way because of how they are mentally. Thus, if no one responsible for their mental state they are not responsible for the actions that occur. A person has to be responsible for their self makeup to be morally responsible and since no one is responsible for this they are not morally responsible for their actions. Also, comedy is one of the most popular choices within adult audiences. 52% of adults watch comedy tv shows, with the only category having a higher percentage being movies at 58% (Scarborough, 2013). As well as, comedy can mean more than one thing. Multiple types of comedy exist, as there are many ways to make someone laugh. Friends does a very good job of touching on many different kinds of comedy. Friends is one of the most popular genres of television, and includes elements that draw people s interest. Not only is Friends a comedy, it includes multiple plot twists. One of these plot twists is when Monica and Chandler start to date. Throughout the show up until this point, Monica spends time to tell Chandler that she is not interested which is especially outlined in an episode set at the beach, where Chandler tries to find any way to make Monica say she d date him. An example of this is that he says Okay, there s an apocalypse and we are the last two people on Earth... and Monica still responds with eh. This is what caused the decision for them to start dating to be a shock to everyone watching. Another plot twist was when Rachel got pregnant. This was clever writing because the show had been more focused on Monica and Chandler at that point, and when the pregnancy test was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Ella Davidson Creative Writing By: Alexa Davidson Edited by:/ Ella Davidson Date: Wednesday, Nov 30, 2016 A day in the life of hair is not easy. Like, getting wedged in braids, getting dyed, having lice crawling around you (which is itchy) or getting shaved into stubble. People can take good care of their hair and others, it s just a feature. However, Hannah is a whole different story. If you looked at Hannah you would just see a twelve year old girl with dimples and dark, kinky hair. Hannah and I have a rapport relationship. I m on top of her head watching her grow up into an intelligent teenager. I m the dark, kinky hair and I have been here for the tough times like when her dad had died and when she got bullied in third grade for having a wonky smile. She would ... (if she was dreading it then why is she happy) DING!! Blasted the bell above the door of the salon. The noise rang in me as we walked towards the woman behind the desk in the salon. Welcome!! she exclaimed. Savannah will help you! Hannah (and I) turned to see a tall, young, copper haired women. The woman took said hi and took Hannah s hand and lead her and her mom to the last chair on the left side of the small tattered house. Hannah sat in the chair and pulled me up and into a black, marble bowl behind the chair. She turned the tap on the bowl and the water blasted out of the nozzle I was soaked in the water it was starting to burn. I could barely make out the woman pouring a sappy, white liquid into her hand. She rubbed the liquid on me. It cleaned me rubbing the oils and dirt off me while the water washed it in the sink and down the drain. Finally, it was all gone but she was pouring some more liquid into her hand. Here we go again. I thought. But it wasn t the first white, sappy liquid it was actually thriving and making me feel like I could do anything!!! It felt soo good and it was refreshing. I ve never felt so good in my life! Finally, the woman pulled me out of the hot burning water and put a black towel over me blinding me from my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Walden Pond Analysis Today I awoke at the early hours of dawn. Upon stepping out of my tent, I was taken back at the beautiful scenery that lies at my very own feet. The nature of Walden Pond is a blessing to one s eye. The landscape surrounding me is full of massive trees and innocent wildlife. The smell of the fresh morning air is soothing to one s soul. As I walk from my tent to the edge of the pond, I can feel the morning dew beneath my feet and see drops of it tricking down the plants around me. Standing by the pond, I can see the sunrising, its rays reflecting off the water making it sparkle. I enjoy relaxing on the bank watching the sunriseand seeing the animals interact with one another; it one of the many luxuries of being encompassed by nature. The... Once the fish was reeled in, I scooped up some water in my pot and headed back towards the tent. After setting everything down, I arranged a spot to build a fire. I placed the logs and sticks within a circle of rocks; then I used my flint to strike and start a fire. One of my main concerns of living in the wild is having purified water. I placed the pot of water over the fire. And while I waited for it to boil, I used my knife to fillet the fish. After the water starts to boil, I always pour some into my cup and then begin cooking my meal that way I do not have to make two trips to the water and so that it gives it time to cool. Shortly after eating, I begin my daily tasks. Although I have a tent, it will not last forever and there is no telling how long it could endure the weather and provide me the accurate shelter, so I have been gradually building myself a cabin each day. I go into the woods and use my machete to chop down trees sturdy enough to withstand its use. Once I chopped enough for the day, I hauled them back to the site to build onto the foundation of my ... Foreign Object Damage Prevention and Management in the Deployed Environment As a result of the United States involvement in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) many Air Force aircraft have been forced to operate in austere and rugged airfields. Force multiplying, rapid global mobility, and overall airpower are directly related to the military s ability to operate in the deployed environment. Although this mission is performed everyday and may not seem like a big deal, what is the impact to Air Force assets that continue to perform these operations on a daily basis? How can the Air Force prevent and minimize the hazards of Foreign Object Damage in these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If this is one of the more advanced airports, how can FOD be prevented in this type of environment? Multi million dollar C 17 cargo aircrafts are transiting through these airfields daily. Although this is not strictly related to military operations, the National Aerospace FOD Prevention, Inc. estimates the cost of FOD to the global aerospace industry at $4 billion annually (Bachlet, 2001). FOD costs for the military each year typically run in the millions of dollars. In fiscal year 2003 alone, FOD cost the Air Force nearly 24 million dollars, diverting valuable resources needed for the readiness of our Air Expeditionary Forces (Abela, 2003). These dollars are spent largely repairing aircraft engine damage caused by the ingestion of foreign objects from runways and airport FOD prevention techniques. Do these figures really relate to the military at all? How does the Air Force combat these hazards? Although it is much harder at austere airfields, effective FOD control programs can still be put into place greatly reducing the high cost of foreign object damage and the potential for injury and even death. General guidelines for prevention include training, inspection, maintenance, and coordination. The foundation of a good prevention program is initial and recurring training for all aerospace personnel in the identification and elimination ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
