My Trip On The California Health Care Facility Essay
For my discovery event, I went on a tour of The California Health Care Facility in Stockton. I
selected this event because I was very curious to know what it was like to work in a prison setting.
My desire for future work settings has been between a nursing facility and prison facility. Before
the visit I expected to know how a group was done in lower level prison and the safetyprecautions
implemented. The facility tour was lead by CTRS John Widenmann and Gaganjot Singh. The first
thing we toured was there medical mall building where all the prisons went to thee appointments
for physical therapyoccupational therapy, dentist, diagnostics, x rays and medical needs. John
told us that some inmates walk with out a guard because they have a card to specify where there
suppose to be. If they refuse to go to there appointment than force is used too make them. Along
the tour he mentioned that the rec therapists sees the inmate five time more in a week than other
members of a treatment team. We were able to visit a facilitation room, which had a class for
inmates to do artwork. One of the CTRS on staff mentioned that it is hard to have supplies for
the art projects. After touring the medical facilities, we walked a long way to the prison area,
dorm area and workspace where the recreation therapist ran groups. John showed us their offices
that over looked the play yard for some prisoners. This can be good for therapist to observe

Affinity purification is a powerful method of isolating a protein of interest from a complex
mixture of proteins. the aim of this experiment was to isolate the enzyme GAPDH from a complex
mixture of proteins, in this case yeast lysate. in order to achieve this, a range of methods were used
such as protein, GAPDH activity and ADH assays, SDS PAGE and imumunodetection of ADH and
GAPDH on western blot. The results showed that the isolation of GAPDH was achieved albeit,
extremely with the % recoveries of the elution being abnormally high due to abnormally low initial
material values. The results suggested overall that isolation GAPDH from yeast lysate using
affinity purification is in fact a somewhat effective method.

problem that occur to the KPMB will lab will be gathering. Analysis The information is very
important in order to make the project done. This phase will take about 2 weeks because this

is not strictly related to military operations, the National Aerospace FOD Prevention, Inc.
estimates the cost of FOD to the global aerospace industry at $4 billion annually (Bachlet, 2001).
FOD costs for the military each year typically run in the millions of dollars. In fiscal year 2003
alone, FOD cost the Air Force nearly 24 million dollars, diverting valuable resources needed for
the readiness of our Air Expeditionary Forces (Abela, 2003). These dollars are spent largely
repairing aircraft engine damage caused by the ingestion of foreign objects from runways and
airport FOD prevention techniques. Do these figures really relate to the military at all? How does

Although it is much harder at austere airfields, effective FOD control programs can still be put into
