Tausret began as queen to Seti II but became a powerful female ruler, first as regent for her stepson Siptah and then as pharaoh after his death. She took on full kingly titles and expanded construction of her mortuary temple and tomb. However, some evidence suggests she faced rebellion late in her reign, as her monuments and sarcophagus contained systematic erasures and she was excluded from later king lists.
