Ceramics Unit 4

Shang dynasty
The Shang Dynasty was China's first literate civilization and ruled from around 1600-1046 BCE. They developed advanced bronze-working, bureaucracy, and rammed earth walls. The Shang heartland was along the Yellow River and traditionally dates from 1766 BCE when it was founded by Cheng Tang until its defeat by the Zhou at the Battle of Muye in 1045 BCE. The Shang made significant cultural contributions such as developing writing, bronze-working, and leaving behind oracle bones used for divination.
Pyramids
The pyramids were built around 4500 years ago by Egyptian field workers, not slaves. The field workers helped construct the pyramids during the annual flooding of the Nile. The stones used were pulled along ramps on sledges lubricated with water, not rolled, and ropes were used to position the stones.
Top 10 alleged indian treasures
The document lists and describes 10 alleged undiscovered Indian treasures, beginning with the Sri Mookambika Temple in Karnataka and ending with the fabled treasures rumored to be in Chamber B of the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala. Coins and sculptures found at the site provide evidence that it was occupied by Buddhists and Hindus. The ruins now include courts for stupas and a monastic complex.
Stupas of gurjar emperor kanishka kushana
Kanishka was a great emperor of the Kushana dynasty who erected a large stupa near Peshawar to house Buddhist relics. Chinese pilgrims described a stupa over 200 meters tall built by Kanishka. Excavations in the 1900s revealed the foundations of a large stupa matching the descriptions. A famous gold casket found within, inscribed with Kanishka's name, confirmed it was his monument. The stupa became an important pilgrimage site and symbol of Kushana and Buddhist glory until its decline in the medieval period.

The Besnagar Pillar inscription was discovered in 1874 in Besnagar, near Vidisha, India. It is engraved on a monolithic pillar erected during the 2nd century CE. The inscription describes how the Greek ambassador Heliodorus, from Taxila, erected the pillar in honor of Vasudeva. It also mentions that Heliodorus was an ambassador of the Indo-Greek king Antialcidas sent to the court of the Indian king Bhagabhadra. The inscription provides important historical information about political and religious developments in 2nd century India, such as the interaction between Indo-Greek and Indian kings and the popularity and worship of Vaishnavism in the region.

Forest Fires
Several forest fires occurred in different locations that threatened human lives and wildlife. Over 1,000 people were evacuated from their homes in Los Angeles due to a fierce forest fire. A forest fire in Athens, Greece burned 300,000 olive groves and orchards and killed 77 people. Hundreds of thousands of flamingos and other wildlife are at risk after five forest fires erupted in Kenya.
Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina started as a tropical storm near Florida in 2005 and rapidly intensified into a Category 5 hurricane as it hit the Gulf of Mexico. It caused catastrophic damage along the Gulf Coast through strong winds up to 175 mph and severe flooding. Over 1,000 lives were lost and many homes and buildings were destroyed by the hurricane's high winds and storm surge. Infrastructure was overwhelmed and recovery efforts were hampered, making Katrina one of the costliest and deadliest hurricanes in U.S. history.
Avalanche
There are three main types of avalanches: wet snow, dry snow, and slab avalanches. The worst Alpine avalanche in 40 years hit the village of Galtür, Austria in 1999, killing 31 people. It was a slab avalanche that started with 170,000 tonnes of snow and picked up more mass as it descended, totaling 300,000 tonnes when it hit the village within 50 seconds. The avalanche buried 57 people, though rescue workers used rescue dogs to save 26 people.

His religion was Shamanism or Tengriism, though he was interested in learning about other religions like Christianity and Islam. He had 6 wives and received sex education at age 9. While he conquered much of Mongolia, Genghis Khan did not conquer every area.

Genghis Khan was the first emperor of the Yuan Dynasty who was born in 1162 in Mongolia and subjected over 1 million people during his rule from 1206 to 1227, establishing a vast empire through military conquest before his cause of death was unknown in 1227 when he asked to be buried without markings.
Chinese Money
Chinese currency has been used for over 3,500 years, starting with stone money and later developing into paper money in the 9th century. Cowry shells also served as early currency in central China from 3,000 to 4,500 years ago. Through the 20th century, China used various currencies including silver coins, fabi legal tender, and gold and silver yuan. Currently, China uses the renminbi based on a decimal system consisting of coins from 1 fen to 1 yuan and paper money ranging from 1 jiao to 100 yuan.

The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
