2. Opening shot: Mid close up, A girl bends down and picks a some flowers (butterfly weed). Mid close up shot
folllows her. She then walks through a park, shifts to full range shot and among trees as the lyrics begin with a
faraway, distracted expression, with a close up shot. She sees the spot where she and her now-ex were sitting
together and they appear to be engaged in conversation, shown by wide shot and then back to close up, for focus on
her expressions and she looks at them, then looks away. Scene fades. Full range shot opens the next scene changes
to the girl skipping rope between two people holding the rope, and the camera pans out while the frame is
multiplied many times to indicate she is in a dream/bizarre situation, and then she eventually trips (the rope
symbolises the good part of the relationship and her tripping signifies its end).
Mid range close up. The girl is shown next to her boyfriend, pleading with him to not leave and then we see that
she’s dressed up well - angle of shot changes to side profiles - and she’s trying to get his attention, she’s got flowers
in her hair and in her hands(the ones she picked), she’s waving them at him. Close up shots of flowers. Her
expression.
Full shot. Another narrative is introduced at this point, she pours herself a bowl of milk and puts in capsules/or
she mixes them around like one does as they eat cereal. The scene cuts back to the flower narrative. Full shot - like
a parallel. He doesn’t notice anything. Cuts back to her capsule cereal. In this scene there will be cuts of her lip
syncing to the song as well, either in a field of flowers or in her room which is full of flowers (full shot).
3. Scene fades into colour. There is a frequent series of shots: of trees, which fades into guitar picking, shots included
of quotations ‘our journey isn’t perfect but it’s ours’/‘my love for you starts at forever and ends at never’ ‘you only
hurt the ones you love’ ‘love conquers all’, a mid close up shot of her continuously pouring water from a watering
can on the flowers she picked, to shots of her looking in the camera, surrounded by flowers again, which blurs into
a rippled scene to show rain, which fades into scene of girl lip syncing while she’s playing some game (clue) - focus
on game - and it’s made apparent that she is having difficulty with it. Focus on her expression. the cards show her
as a clown/don’t give her the expected outcome. Close up of outcome.
Full shots of The following scenes alternate between her in the trees still lip syncing, looking at her man and her
old self interacting (showing how she is revisiting/living in the past) and back to the scene of cards where she is
visibly confused and staring at them. Fast paced editing, cutting between movements, to show the parallelism.
Following these scenes, she now stands among flowers, trees and in her fancy dress, all the while lip syncing, still
holding the can and watering the flowers, full shot, swigging the "capsule cereal" from the bowl, quotes about love,
and yet again, there are shots of her surrounded by flowers. Again, editing has to be fast paced. After this sequence
there is a dull fog/her face fading into murky water, which will be shown as a close up shot. This is followed by a
flashback to moments from her past - the editing is done less rapidly than before but still at a fast pace, cutting
from one scene to another. These scenes will include: a handicam quality video with her smiling at the camera,
moving from a mid shot to a medium close-up; a low angle shot of her climbing up a tree, which shows the sense of
elation she felt; a wide shot showing her riding a bike with her partner - the suburban setting will be clearly seen;
them sitting together and enjoying the moment, filmed from back and front and involving full and mid shots
4. mixed together in fast-paced editing; and etching their names into a tree - the tree will be seen first and the camera
will pan out/backward to show the characters looking at it.
The scene fades with some colours and transitions into a still, wide shot of the sunset over a suburban setting and
then over trees. This cuts to a medium close-up of the girl who is staring at one fixed spot, and then to spot in the
tree where she and her partner etched their names. This is interrupted by close-up shots of her lip syncing, which
pan outward slowly as she continues to sing, with her eyes closed and lip syncing which continues during the
parallelism - rapid close-up shots of flowers, shots of her just her hand which is squeezing flowers. A close-up of
her is shown as well to indicate the contemplating and hesitant manner in which she is holding flowers.
After this there are shown shots of things like coin flips, dices, cards, constantly cutting to her walking in suburbs
and among trees between those shots, and these are also interrupted by short rapid rewind shots - dice going back
into her hand, a tear streak going back into her eyes and so on. In all these scenes, the camera will be fixed in one
place. Then, this rapid parallelism ends on a close-up of her as she opens her eyes, in all the scenes/settings that
were shown, the last one being in the trees location. In between these scenes there are broken time-lapse wide
shots of the sunrise, a close up of her hand as she makes her final move and a medium shot of her sitting at the
table as she closes the game board and looks into the camera, and finally settling to a slo-mo scene of the flowers
dispersing in the wind as she walks away from them - the focus being on the dispersing flowers as her back is
shown.
