At the beginning of the scene the sound effect of crickets is put into this scene,
this makes the scene more romantic. The crickets emphasise the fact that it’s night
time and make the scene easier to watch.
It’s a dark romantic scene that suggests something between the two characters is
going to happen. The lighting on the house is suggesting that’s the destination of
one of the characters.
A master shot is used to scene it informs the audience where it is set
The dialogue between the two characters is very soft, this
shows that they are trying to lure each other in. it is clear
that they both have feelings for each other. Andie is wearing
very light make-up or no make-up this suggests innocence
or a childlike nature. The clothing she is wearing is a new
grey shirt, and a coat. Through this you can tell that she
has made the effort to dress for this occasion. Her dress
style is classy and natural this suggests that she is a higher
class. She also wears pearls this also suggests that is from
a higher class. She wears floral in this scene which
suggests that she is a girly girl. The boy on the other hand
is wear smart clothing of a jacket and a blue smart shirt.
Even though he is dressed smart you can tell he is in a
different class to Andie. The clothing suggests that he is
from a working class family. This over the shoulder shot
helps you follow the conversation between the two
characters. It shows the emotion they feel for each other. A
shot reverse shot is also used here to follow the
conversation. The editing in the clip so far is invisible, it can
hardly be noticed. This makes the film more real.
While the characters are kissing the non-diegetic sound (the music) is quite quiet, but
when they start to kiss the music gets louder, this emphasises the romance in the
scene. Before kissing each other the two characters show a close proximity this
shows their relationship. They are standing quiet close, but not close enough to create
a romantic relationship. When they starts to kiss you can see their hand movement
show that ‘they can’t keep their hands off each other’. This also show the temptation
that has been building but before the kiss. The camera zooms in on the couple to
show the intimacy between them.
A long shot is used to show the proximity between the characters. It also shows
the surroundings and helps set the scene. As the characters stand in front of the
car they are silhouetted by the car lights. This gives them a romantic feeling.
A Close-up is used here to show the her facial
expression. It is used to show how happy she is
feeling this connects with the sound used in this
part. This shot is introduced by a scream by
Andie, she screams due to excitement about
going on her date with Blane. When we see the
inside of Andie’s house it is quite plain at first
this suggests the her house is posh and her
family are maybe working class, or higher class.
But as soon as the camera turns we meet her
father. He is wearing a dressing gown and is
most probably caught off guard. He is
surrounded by neutral colours of creams and
greys. Both the curtains and the lamp shade in
the background are floral patterned this
suggests that house is dominated by women.
The magazines in the foreground on the table,
the papers on the other side of the table, and
the photograph all suggest that is house is
dominated by women.
Listening to the dialogue of the scene you can hear the joy in Andie’s voice, the
contrast between her high pitched voice and the fathers voice shows that he is
someone that she waits on approval from. An eye line match is used to help the
audience follow the conversation between the two characters. In this shot their
proximity is quiet close, this show that their relationship is close, as they are father
and daughter this suggest that they have a close relationship and don’t really argue
or keep things from each other.
