INDEX
I have learnt many things about the business
of travel and tourism industry. Now a days of
travel agencies are available and even we can
plan our itinerary or book a ticket by sitting in
our home itself through internet. Travel
includes all sorts of transportation like
airplane, train, bus, ship and so on. Travelling
is the essential segment of people’s life.

LO 1
INTERNATIONAL AIR TRANSPORT
ASSOCIATION
Founded by airlines in 1945 in Havana, Cuba. It is the
success or to the international air traffic association,
which was formed in 1919 at the Hague, Netherland.
At its founding, IATA consisted of 57 airlines from 31
countries. Much of IATA’s early work was technical
and it provided input to the newly created ICAO.
The first traffic conference was held in 1947 in Rio-
de.Janerio and reached unanimous agreement on
some 400 resolutions.
UNIVERSAL FEDERATION OF TRAVEL
AGENT’S ASSOCIATION
• UFTAA is a body representing the travel agency and the
tourism industry. UFTAA effectively represents travels and
your operation view on both inbound and outbound
travel by continuous dialogue and consultation with
other international organization such as IATA, IHRA to
mention only a few.
• UFTAA has consultative status with the
UN/NGO/ECOSOC, and walks closely with their such as
UNESCO, WHO, etc. for a sustainable and responsible
tourism. UFTAA is an affiliate member of the WTO and
WTOBC.
PACIFIC AREA TRAVEL ASSOCIATION
PATA founded in 1951, is recognized authority on Pacific
Asia Travel and Tourism, by dedicating itself to the
promotion of this last remaining tourism frontier, PATA’s
uniquely structured organization and its far-reaching
efforts helped unite many facts of tourism e efforts. The
association had 44 members. PATA’s first conference was
held in 1952 and it’s headquarters established in San
Francisco, USA in 1953 . PATA’ s chapter membership
includes 17000 travel professionals in 80+PATA chapter
located through out the world.
TRAVEL AGENTS ASSOCIATION OF INDIA
TAAI was formed forwards the end of the year 1951 by a
group of 12 leading travel agents, who felt the time had come
to create an association to regulate the travel industry in
India along organized lines and in accordance with south
business principles.
The primary purpose was to protect the interests of those
engaged in the industry, to promotes its orderly growth and
development and to save guard the travelling public from
exploitation by unscrupulous and unreliable operators.
WARSAW CONVENTION
The convention for the unification of certain rules relating to the
international courage by air, commonly known as the Warsaw
Convention, is an international convention which regulates
liability for international carriage of persons, luggage, or goods
performed by aircraft for reward.
Originally signed in 1929 in Warsaw, it was awarded in 1955 at
The Hague, Netherland &in 1971 in Guatemala City. United States
courts have held that, at least for some purpose, the Warsaw
Convention is a different instrument for the Warsaw Convention
as amended by the Hague Protocol.
The convention on international civil
Aviation also known as the Chicago
convention, established the ICAO, a
specialized agency of the uncharged with
coordinating and regulating international
air travel. The convention establishes rules
of airspace, air craft registration and safety
and details the rights of the signatories in
relation to air travel. The convention also
exempts air fuels in transit from taxation.
The document was singed on December 7,
1944 in Chicago by 52 signatory states.
MONTREAL CONVENTION
The Montreal convention formally the convention for the
unification of certain rules for international carriage by Air .
It is a treaty adopted by a diplomatic meeting of ICAO
members states in 1999.
It amended important provisions of the Warsaw convention’s
regime concerning compensation for the victims of disasters.
The convention re-established urgently needed uniformity
and predictability of rules relating to the International
carriage of passengers, baggage and cargo .
INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION
ORGANIZATION
It is a UN specialized agency , established
by a states in to manage the
administration and governance of the
convention on International civil aviation
(Chicago convention). ICAO works with
the convention’s 191 member states and
industry groups to reach consequences on
International civil standard and
recommended practices (SARPS) and
polices in support of a safe , efficient ,
secure , economically sustainable and
environmentally responsible civil aviation
sector .
BILATERAL AGREEMENTS
Bilateral agreements are those
agreements which state definitely the
right designated carrier will enjoy in the
other country . Under these
agreements , each state appellate its Air
carrier and sometimes application of
more than one carrier is allowed. It
specifies the sates/cities which may be
served by the airlines and also mention
the prints the appellate carrier may use
for traffic rights.

• Correct travel document however is probably the single
most important factor as to whether this likely to occur.
Although the law varies from country to country, in
general, its recognized that agents can liable for damages
caused by either by their fault or their negligence.
• Ensuring that all necessary formality are advised in
writing between the agent and the client during the
reservation process.
• Making certain the client is informed as to who is
responsible for what and putting this in writing so that
there is no argument at a later date.

  • 8. INTERNATIONAL AIR TRANSPORT ASSOCIATION Founded by airlines in 1945 in Havana, Cuba. It is the success or to the international air traffic association, which was formed in 1919 at the Hague, Netherland. At its founding, IATA consisted of 57 airlines from 31 countries. Much of IATA’s early work was technical and it provided input to the newly created ICAO. The first traffic conference was held in 1947 in Rio- de.Janerio and reached unanimous agreement on some 400 resolutions.

  • 10. UNIVERSAL FEDERATION OF TRAVEL AGENT’S ASSOCIATION • UFTAA is a body representing the travel agency and the tourism industry. UFTAA effectively represents travels and your operation view on both inbound and outbound travel by continuous dialogue and consultation with other international organization such as IATA, IHRA to mention only a few. • UFTAA has consultative status with the UN/NGO/ECOSOC, and walks closely with their such as UNESCO, WHO, etc. for a sustainable and responsible tourism. UFTAA is an affiliate member of the WTO and WTOBC.

PACIFIC AREA TRAVEL ASSOCIATION PATA founded in 1951, is recognized authority on Pacific Asia Travel and Tourism, by dedicating itself to the promotion of this last remaining tourism frontier, PATA’s uniquely structured organization and its far-reaching efforts helped unite many facts of tourism e efforts. The association had 44 members. PATA’s first conference was held in 1952 and it’s headquarters established in San Francisco, USA in 1953 . PATA’ s chapter membership includes 17000 travel professionals in 80+PATA chapter located through out the world.

TRAVEL AGENTS ASSOCIATION OF INDIA TAAI was formed forwards the end of the year 1951 by a group of 12 leading travel agents, who felt the time had come to create an association to regulate the travel industry in India along organized lines and in accordance with south business principles. The primary purpose was to protect the interests of those engaged in the industry, to promotes its orderly growth and development and to save guard the travelling public from exploitation by unscrupulous and unreliable operators.

WARSAW CONVENTION The convention for the unification of certain rules relating to the international courage by air, commonly known as the Warsaw Convention, is an international convention which regulates liability for international carriage of persons, luggage, or goods performed by aircraft for reward. Originally signed in 1929 in Warsaw, it was awarded in 1955 at The Hague, Netherland &in 1971 in Guatemala City. United States courts have held that, at least for some purpose, the Warsaw Convention is a different instrument for the Warsaw Convention as amended by the Hague Protocol.

The convention on international civil Aviation also known as the Chicago convention, established the ICAO, a specialized agency of the uncharged with coordinating and regulating international air travel. The convention establishes rules of airspace, air craft registration and safety and details the rights of the signatories in relation to air travel. The convention also exempts air fuels in transit from taxation. The document was singed on December 7, 1944 in Chicago by 52 signatory states.

  • 19. MONTREAL CONVENTION The Montreal convention formally the convention for the unification of certain rules for international carriage by Air . It is a treaty adopted by a diplomatic meeting of ICAO members states in 1999. It amended important provisions of the Warsaw convention’s regime concerning compensation for the victims of disasters. The convention re-established urgently needed uniformity and predictability of rules relating to the International carriage of passengers, baggage and cargo .

INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION ORGANIZATION It is a UN specialized agency , established by a states in to manage the administration and governance of the convention on International civil aviation (Chicago convention). ICAO works with the convention’s 191 member states and industry groups to reach consequences on International civil standard and recommended practices (SARPS) and polices in support of a safe , efficient , secure , economically sustainable and environmentally responsible civil aviation sector .
  • 21. BILATERAL AGREEMENTS Bilateral agreements are those agreements which state definitely the right designated carrier will enjoy in the other country . Under these agreements , each state appellate its Air carrier and sometimes application of more than one carrier is allowed. It specifies the sates/cities which may be served by the airlines and also mention the prints the appellate carrier may use for traffic rights.
