CHICAGO CONVENTION ON
INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION
The Convention on International Civil Aviation, also known as the Chicago
Convention, established the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a
specialized agency of the UN charged with coordinating and regulating
international air travel. The Convention establishes rules of airspace, aircraft
registration and safety, and details the rights of the signatories in relation to air
travel. The Convention also exempts air fuels in transit from (double) taxation.
The document was signed on December 7, 1944, in Chicago by 52 signatory
states. It received the requisite 26th ratification on March 5, 1947 and went into
effect on April 4, 1947, the same date that ICAO came into being. In October of
the same year, ICAO became a specialized agency of the United Nations
Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The Convention has since been revised
eight times (in 1959, 1963, 1969, 1975, 1980, 1997, 2000 and 2006).
As of March 2019, the Chicago Convention had 193 state parties, which includes
all member states of the United Nations except Liechtenstein. The Cook
Islands is a party to the Convention although it is not a member of the UN. The
convention has been extended to cover Liechtenstein by the ratification
of Switzerland.
Md Shaifullar Rabbi
WARSAW CONVENTION
 The Convention for the Unification of certain rules
relating to international carriage by air, commonly
known as the Warsaw Convention, is an
international convention which regulates liability for
international carriage of persons, luggage, or goods
performed by aircraft for reward.
 Originally signed in 1929 in Warsaw (hence the name), it
was amended in 1955 at The Hague, Netherlands, and in
1971 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. United States
courts have held that, at least for some purposes, the
Warsaw Convention is a different instrument from the
Warsaw Convention as amended by the Hague
Protocol.
Md Shaifullar Rabbi
BILATERAL AIRTRANSPORT AGREEMENTS
 An air transport agreement (also sometimes called
an air service agreement or ATA or ASA) is an agreement
which two nations sign to allow international
commercial air transport services between their
territories.
 The bilateral system has its basis under the Chicago
Convention and associated multilateral treaties. The
Chicago Convention was signed in December 1944 and
has governed international air services since then. The
convention also has a range of annexes covering issues
such as aviation security, safety oversight, airworthiness,
navigation, environmental protection and facilitation
(expediting and departure at airports).

IATA GEOGRAPHY
A good knowledge of geography is
essential for everyone to work
competently, in the airline industry.
This industry spans the globe and it
would be beneficial for us to know
what exists in other parts, like
countries, capitals, tourist destinations,
climate and geography.
IATA Geography is one of the key
aspects in planning and pricing of air
travel. Importantly, IATA has divided
the world in its Traffic conference areas
and further sub areas with some
exceptions to the general political
geography which is particularly applied
to various international air tariff
construction rules.
Md Shaifullar Rabbi
TRAFFIC CONFERENCE AREAS
For the purpose of
standardization and
Fare calculation, IATA
has divided the world
into three areas called
IATA Traffic
Conference Area.
 TC1-Traffic Conference Area 1
 TC2-Traffic Conference Area 2
 TC3-Traffic Conference Area 3

AIRLINES INDUSTRY
The airline industry encompasses a
wide range of businesses, called
airlines, which offer air transport
services for paying customers or
business partners. These air transport
services are provided for both human
travelers and cargo, and are most
commonly offered via jets, although
some airlines also use helicopters.
Airlines may offer scheduled and/or
chartered services and the airline
industry forms a key part of the wider
travel industry, providing customers
with the ability to purchase seats on
flights and travel to different parts of
the world. The airline industry offers a
variety of career paths, including
pilots, flight attendants and ground
crew.
