● Translation as process or as product is political because it
displays process of negotiation among different agents.

5. ● Ideology plays an important role in the translation practice, and it
can be traced in different levels and in different ways like text
selection, translation strategy, topic of the text, etc.
● The process of translation is manipulated by ideology which
involves both the translation ideology and the dominant ideology of
the society.
● Translation scholars who support the political definition of
ideology mainly believe that translating itself is a political act.

6. ● Ideology is highly influential in both translators' decision-
making process and reception of the target texts.
● During translation, linguistic structure, and therefore ideology,
may be changed, manipulated or lost due to the translator’s lack
of knowledge in how to adequately transfer the ideology in the
target text language from the source text language.

insights of that power.
●Ideology is considered to be one of the crucial
constitutions of power since it transfers the translator's
point of view about the world.
●power in Translation Studies is linked to different
constrains from different perspectives
i.e. language, norms, target audience culture and most
importantly ideological constrains which make translation
implicit or explicit.

12. Power and translation is not only linked to translation
products but power is also “inherent in the translation
process itself” e.g. Seen in the relationship between the
translator and the author, source text and translation.
