TRAINEE AND TRAINER’S
ROLE
WHAT IS TRAINING??
Training is a short term process utilizing a systematic
and organized procedure by which non- managerial
personnel learn technical knowledge and skills for a
definite purpose.
TWO IMPORTANT PERSONS IN TRAINING
 Trainee:- A person undergoing training for a
particular job or profession.
 Trainer:-A person who teaches skills to people and
prepares them for a job or activity.
ROLE OF TRAINEE
 To carry out work as required by the company.
 To cultivate and maintain a professional image at all
times.
 Behave in a professional manner.
 Have a positive and good attitude towards the
company providing the training; to all levels of its
staff, to their colleagues, and to their ‘work’.
 Be part of the productive process within the
framework of being trained.

 Identify how they can complement their formal
training by self- help.
 Help develop their initiative and their innovative
skills.
 Be able to retrieve and use relevant information.
 To develop a natural inquisitive sense and ‘question’
‘why’ and ‘how’ things are done, with the aim of
improving procedures and thus productivity.
ROLE OF TRAINER
The role of a trainer is to develop a competency and
skill sets in an individual to perform his/her work
effectively and efficiently in the work place.
The trainer should communicate to the trainees about
what is expected out of training in a simple and
professional way.

The trainer plays a pivotal role from start to
end of the training that includes the
following:
 Training plan
 Timing of different training sessions.
 Choosing the relevant training methods
 Preparing the training materials and aids
 Conducting training sessions and
 Evaluating the post training session.
WHAT QUALITIES DOES A COMPANY
EXPECT IN A TRAINER?
 Methodical and well- planned
 Highly knowledgeable and competent enough
 Possess relevant industry experience
 Good in communication/ presentation and
 Be practical enough to make the overall training
session fruitful to the trainees.
HOW WOULD THE TRAINER END THE
TRAINING SESSION?
The well experienced trainer would end the training
session with the summary of the whole
session/story/real life business example/feedback
mechanism to evaluate the usefulness of the training
session and trainer as well.
