Using A Systems Theory Model
Open Systems A system interdependent on groups of people or items working
together to complete a specific goal is known as an open system (Cordan, 2013).
Healthcare organizations are usually designed around systems that interact with
outside environments, indicating that they are open systems (Cordan, 2013). The
purpose of this paper is to use a systems theorymodel to examine a workflow problem
within an open system unit, in one organization, and design a solution to the
workflow issue.
Systems Theory Description
Cardiac and Vascular holding unit is an eight bed unit open system unit in that this
unit regularly exchanges feedback with the outside environment. The unit staff is
responsible for providing care to patients receiving invasive patient both inpatients
and outpatients vascular or cardiac procedures. Myers and O Brien Pallas, 2010,
contend that an open system, Nursing Services Delivery Theory (NSDT), certain
concepts: input, output, throughput combine to influence work demands achieve
goals and complete daily workflow task
Input
In the CAV input is derived from: patients, staff, materials outside data sources, and
funding. Input is essentially the flow of energy exchange from outside sources that
renews or sustains the system (Meyer, O Brien Pallas, 2010). For this particular unit
input can also be impacted by the particular insurance standard indicting the medical
necessity of certain procedures. When energies are transformed within the system it
then indicates
The Hobbit, By. R. Tolkien
I. Subject The Hobbit, written by J.R.R. Tolkien, tells of the hardships and
struggles of Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who lives in a hobbit hole named Bag End.
Bilbo is hired by a party of dwarves to go on an adventure to get their stolen gold
from the lonely mountain. The only catch is that the mountain is guarded by the
dragon, Smaug. Bilbo goes on a quest throughout Wilderland meeting enemies like
Trolls, Elves in the Elven hall, and Goblins in the Goblin tunnels. Bilbo discovers
an important creature named Gollum in these Goblin tunnels. Gollum possess a
powerful ring that makes the wearer invisible. Bilbo finds this ring in the Goblin
tunnels and takes it. It helps Bilbo in many ways, most importantly allowing bilbo
to talk to Smaug without being seen. While talking with the dragon Bilbo
discovers the one and only weak spot of the dragon, a chip in his gem plated scales.
The dragon then attacks a town of men and is slain by Bard, a skillful bowman.
The dwarves then reclaim their stolen treasure in the Lonely Mountain. Greed
leads armies of all races to the Lonely Mountain wanting some of the gold and loot
inside. The greed causes a battle to happen in which the Dwarf King Thorin is
killed. Bilbo then returns to Bag End as a new person. He is braver, bolder, and
more courageous than he was before the journey. II. Theme In J.R.R Tolkien s The

What Are The Arguments Related To The Declaration Of...
In 1776, Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence which don the
reasons why the thirteen colonies wanted to become independent from the British
government. On the other hand, the Declaration of Sentiments which was written by
Elizabeth Cady Stanton focused on achieving equality for women in the U.S. Both
documents have similar structure, persuasive dictions and also specific objectives
intended to grant them their freedom from the unjust government system.
Conversely, these memorable declarations also have differing views of the
government system, integrated different tones and also focused on specific audience.
The Declaration of Independence mainly focused on the thirteen coloniesseeking
separation from the British government. The document highlights the unjust rule of
the British government towards the thirteen colonies. For instance, the suffering of
the thirteen colonies under the British government showed, the necessity which
constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. King of Great Britain
used repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of
an absolute Tyranny over these State . The thirteen colonies... Show more content on

Therefore, the the Declaration of Independence highlights the unfair treatment of the
British government such as high taxation, abolishing the thirteen colonies law and
also obstructed the Administration of Justice according the the document.
Conversely, the Declaration of Sentiment explains most of the false treatment of men
and also unjust laws against women. For instance, Stanton stated [men have] withheld
from the rights which are given to the most ignorant and degraded men both natives
foreigners . the quote suggests that the expected outcome was simply equal treatment
of women as men which are their inalienable right as people and members of the

Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease
Gastro esophageal reflux disease: pathology and treatment Introduction Gastro
esophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a medical condition where abnormal distal
esophageal acid exposure caused by reflux of acid contents results in troublesome
symptoms1, 2. It is caused by the failure of endogenous anti reflux barriers such as
the lower esophageal sphincter1. Small amounts of reflux occur naturally throughout
the day in everyone but normal anatomy and physiology of the esophagus, lower
esophageal sphincter, diaphragm muscles at the hiatus and stomach prevent
pathological GERD3. The worldwide prevalence of GERD is estimated to be 13
19%, with 35% suffering symptoms at least monthly, 12% at least weekly and 5%
daily4 though different sources have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hiatal hernia are thought to be caused in part by loss of elasticity of phrenosphageal
ligaments and repeated shortening of the esophagus due to swallowing or retching3.
Obesity increases the risk of hiatal hernia and hence GERD by increasing intra
abdominal pressure, which stimulates reflux4. The most common form of hiatal
hernia is Type 1, sliding hiatal hernia, which occurs when the gastroesophageal
junction (GEJ) is not bound at the abdominal cavity by the phrenosophageal
ligament and hence slides superiorly to rest above the diaphragm, though all forms
can affect LES and GER1, 8. An acid pocket is created when acidic gastric juice
layers onto stomach contents and extends into the hernia, hence potentially
aggravating GER and causing GERD14. Hiatal hernia also disrupts the mechanism of
esophageal acid clearance after reflux14. LES exposure to intra abdominal pressure
and LES pressure are both reduced in patients with hiatal hernia, hence impeding LES
function, possibly due to compression of the esophagus within the hiatal canal3, 13
Analysis Of Bachmann Gambling Addiction
Bachmann Gambling Addiction
In The Neurology of Free Will, Charles Duhigg puts a special importance on habits
their inner working and how they can change. Duhigg describes how habits work
through the cycle of cue, routine, and reward. Angie Bachmann from being a bored
housewife to losing all her money through uncontrollable gambling.
Angie Bachmann mother of 3 children, got addicted to gambling felt lonely at
home, when her husband went to work and children went to school. Bachmann had
gotten married young and had become pregnant almost right away. She had never
held down a meaningful job. One morning, She was sitting at home, staring at the
television, so bored that she was giving serious thought to reorganizing the
silverware drawer (Duhigg). That morning the trouble began. She was really bored,
so at about noon, Bachmann drove to a riverboat casino. She played and lost 40
dollars. After that first trip to the casino, Bachmann started going to the riverboat
once a week. Then twice a week. Over the next decade, Bachmann played regularly.
She went whenever she fought with her husband or was just bored. At the tables she
was numb and excited, all at once. The high of winning was so immediate. The pain
of losing passed so fast. According to Duhigg states First, there is a cue, a trigger that
tells your brain to go into automatic mode. Then there is the routine the behavior
itself which can be physical or mental or emotional. Finally, there is a reward, which

The Voting Age
In the article Why We Should Lower the Voting Age to 16, Laurence Steinberg
asserts that teenagers deserve more than just a voice to make a change but a right to
vote (Steinberg). He elaborates on how teenagers are qualified to vote because their
minds are fully developed enough to make good choices. Steinberg believes that
teenagers have the responsibility to vote because currently the teens right now are
having a thoughtful, eloquent protest.
Steinberg insists that the federal voting age in the United States should be lowered
from 18 to 16 (Steinberg). Steinberg uses hypophora and logistical evidence to create
his empathetic tone. To start his claim, Steinberg uses an hypophora to to question if
young people [are] notoriously ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because this question would be posed by skeptics and he later on validates his
answer to counteract those people, he strengthened his claim by removing doubt
from his claim. Steinberg is seen as understanding to the teens when he poses that
question which creates his empathetic tone. His tone and the hypophora combined
only bolsters his argument. Moreover, he switches to logistical evidence to back
up his hypophora. He states that Cold cognitive abilities are skills that lead people
to reason logically with facts and that they are firmly in place by [the age] 16
(Steinberg). Steinberg s incorporation of logic in his article not only made an
emphasis on that his claim his correct and supported by factual studies, but it also
adds to his empathetic tone because he can be seen as understanding of teenagers
by disregarding stereotypical information with statistics. In addition to, Steinberg
goes back to using hypophora in the final parts of his article to establish his point
once more and build his tone. Steinberg questions Why is higher turnout among 16
and 17 year olds so important? Because there is evidence that people who don t vote
the first time they are eligible are less likely to vote regularly in the
Should The Bumblebees Be Saved
Should the Bumblebees be saved? There has been a sharp decrease in bees over
the years and they were recently put on the endangered species list. The
Bumblebees population has decreased by 90% and without the bee; the entire
ecosystem could become unbalanced. Bees pollinate plants and animals that we eat
like chicken, beef, pork, ham, lamb, turkey the animals that eat the grass or flowers
depend on bees. If the vegetation is, low those animals will die off and so will we.
Therefore, the Fish and Wildlife Preserve has declared that pesticides, deforestation,
and wildfires are destroying the bees habitats. President Obama has even helped in
protecting the bees. Obamas administration has a plan to protect their habits by
growing trees and flowers
The Cultural Diversity And Identity
Istanbul
One of the most captivating cities in the world, Istanbul, known for its western and
eastern traditional cities and being built on two continents has arguably one of the
richest histories of architecture in the world. Rich periods in time can be exemplified
through architectural examples can be observed in many structures throughout the
country. Each defined period in Istanbul s history can be clearly observed through its
visual markers left in architecture. Even today, the cultural diversity and identity can
be pictured through architecture. History of Istanbul

3000 BC. The earliest recorded history is in the 7th century, when Greek colonists ...

The city was rebuilt and featured incredible structures such as the Hagia Sophia
which symbolize the heights the Byzantine culture reached. Specific attributes that
made living in such a city so desirable were its trade locations and transportation
between three different continents. However, what made the city desirable also made
it a target for those who wanted to take advantage of its attributes. Over the next
several hundred years, the city was subject to attacks from Persians, Arabs and
nomadic people trying to take over the city. Members of the fourth crusade, who also
governed the city for a short time, also attacked Constantinople. All these attacked
lead to an attack in 1453 by the Ottoman Turks led by Sultan Mehmet II. Due to the
constant attacks led by others, the city s defenses were severely weakened, allowing
the Ottoman Turks to conquer the city. The city was then renamed to Istanbul, which
became the third and last capital of the Ottoman Empire. The city was the center for
military campaigns aimed at enlarging the Ottoman empire in a dramatic manor.
By the mid 1500 s, the city of Istanbul had a population of nearly 500,000. With a
population this large, the city was a major cultural, political and commercial nerve
center. The Ottoman rule remained until its forces were defeated in World War I
and Istanbul was occupied by the allies. Today, this area is now known as the
Republic of Turkey, established in 1923 after the war of

government has the polytheistic sculptures and work censored. Saudi Arabia only

Muhammad s time when Islam started to grow. The relief is stone carved with
written language which might say Blessings to the tribe . The line structures are both

They all gathered in Arabia once a year for pilgrimage to give offerings to these
deities in Mecca. All the polytheists also brought the reliefs and sculptures to keep in
the Kaaba for blessings. We see the same sculptures and reliefs throughout the
peninsula. Thus, the methods and functionality of the piece remained the same, for
blessings from the gods. All the pagans in the peninsula had same gods of same
blessings, worship, and fertility. The Saudi government censors the remains of this
culture and much of these pieces were destroyed when Islam grew in the Arabian
Peninsula. The Saudi government only loans the sculpture to the Non Muslim
countries with a deal on strict censorship on the pre Islamic material culture. Thus,
only a few pieces are remaining to compare the conventionality of the pieces. The
pieces that are not destroyed and remained for public viewings after strict
censorship are every similar material and culture. This could also mean that the
pieces are from a same tribe or same place. However, the trade and the pilgrimage to
Mecca once a year for pilgrims in the pre Islamic time could also imply that most
people had same religion or culture and worshipped the same gods and

Douglas Muzzio s Decent People Shouldn T Live Here
When I first think of Miami, I picture the hot sun scorching down on party goers
enjoying their day on the beach. After their day of sun bathing and sipping on some
tequila, they drive their Lamborghinis back to their penthouses and prepare for a
night out on the town and the rest is history. These beliefs about Miamiprospered from
various TV shows and films that I ve watched throughout my life, primarily within
the past ten years (because I don t really remember much before that). My perception
of Miami is congruent with film representations of big cities attracting luxurious
millionaires and lively young adults, contrary to the reality of a crime ridden paradise.

tourists. Miami has always been seen to me as a vacation state; nobody works there,

they create films that merely reflect audiences world views (and) also help to
shape them. Muzzio also touches on positive images and films with successful
urban images, saying that by portraying the city positively as a center of culture
and civility, as mosaic, as center of freedom and opportunity, as a feast/bazaar/place
of excitement, and as a place of romance, the cinematic landscape of a film sheds
light on the hope a city has to offer. While the CSI and Fast and Furious series offer
criminal representation, overwhelming, the city is
The Problem of Cyber Bullying
In the past few years, there has been a tremendous amount of improvements of
technology use in teenagers causing a new problem to arise. Half of students admit
to being bullied online, while an estimated seventy nine percent of teenagers say it s
a problem, ( An Old Problem with a New Face ). Since the rapid growth of
technology, cyber bullyinghas become life threatening for too many teenagers. Now
that teenagers have phones and technology almost twenty four hours a day, they are
putting themselves at a greater risk of being cyber bullied. Cyber bullying is
different from regular, old school bullying; cyber bullying is using the internet to ruin
the life of other teenagers. Cyber bulling is when a teenager is tormented, threatened,

As for the teenagers being cyber bullied, and the ones performing the
cyberbullying, there are many different ways to handle the situation. For those
who are being cyber bullied or harassed they can block the person performing the
bullying. If the cyber bully has contact information with the teen, they can ignore
messages without reading them. In today s social media, the person being bullied
can report to the social media workers rude comments, inappropriate pictures, and
just bullying itself. Then the comments will be taken down. Lastly, someone who
is getting bullied needs to speak with a parent, a teacher, or even a friend about the
bullying. As for the teenagers who are witnessing the cyberbullying, that teenager
needs to tell them to stop what they re doing because jail is a penalty for
cyberbullying. That child could also get caught by the school and get expelled
depending on how serious the case of cyberbullying has become. The punishment
for cyber bullies can include being suspended from school or kicked off of sports
teams. Certain types of cyber bullying also may violate school codes or even
discrimination or sexual harassment laws ( Kids Health ). In addition to jail being an
option, teenagers can result to taking their own lives. So additionally going to jail, the
cyber bully could be the reason behind another
A Song Of Ice And Fire Analysis
A Song of Ice and Fire is a series of books written by George R.R. Martin that is set in
a fantasy world with medieval style combat and politics. Several characters in this
series are inspired by individuals that were involved in an English war during the
medieval era. A major source of inspiration for George R.R. Martin was the Wars of
the Roses, which occurred in England from 1455 to 1487, and this helped him
create several of his main characters including: Tyrion Lannister, Joffrey Baratheon,
and Cersei Lannister. George R.R. Martin took inspiration from kings and queens
from the Wars of the Roses and the period before the war. Martin used their
personalities to create appropriate characters in his books. Tyrion Lannister was

Her first tenure lasted from 1445 to 1461 while her second tenure was much
shorter and only lasted from 1470 to 1471. Margaret often ruled the kingdom from
behind her husband and involved herself with the struggles of dealing with a
rebellion. Margaret was also known for spending large amounts of money to treat
herself and exert her influence on everyone around her. Cersei Lannister married
Robert Baratheon at the age of 17 and became the queen of Westeros. Cersei s
reign as queen lasted for 15 years and she eventually became queen regent when
Robert died and Joffrey was taking the throne. Cersei is described as being a very
cunning and manipulative character throughout the series. These attributes help
her maintain a high level of power when Joffrey becomes king. If I accept you, you
shall be the King s Hand in name, but my Hand in truth. You will share all your
plans and intentions with me before you act, and you will do nothing without my
consent. (A Clash of Kings 67). This quote shows Cersei talking to Tyrion and
asserting her power by demanding that Tyrion communicate all of his plans to her.
With its aid she could reward her friends by gifts of cash, presents of jewels and
other favours, and overawe her foes by the extent of her power. (Myers 155). In this
quote, the author is describing the wealth and power that Margaret Anjou possessed
as queen of England. Margaret would spend
Homosexuality in Ha Jin s the Bridegroom Essay
History of Homosexuality in Society
Throughout the course of history, the topic of homosexuality and its acceptable
behavior has been one of varying opinions and much heated debate. Although how
tolerated homosexual behavior was all through history can differ depending on who
your source is, most everyone can agree that a few large cultures were either strongly
for, or against, homosexuality.
One key player in the fight against homosexuality was the all powerful England. The
first English civil law against sodomy was passed by Parliament in 1533. In Act 25
Henry 8, Chapter 6 which begins Forasmuch as there is not yet sufficient and condign

These types of moralistic judgments constantly flooded the so called scientific
study of homosexuality. Religion also plays a key role in the persecution of
homosexuals. The belief that homosexuality is a sin seems to dominate the church
community. Those of Islamic religion are strongly against the very idea of
homosexuality and offer a strong punishment to those who oppose their views. In
Saudi Arabia on April 16, 2001, five homosexuals were sentenced to 2,600 lashes
and 6 years in prison, and four others to 2,400 lashes and 5 years imprisonment for
deviant sexual behavior. (Associated Press 2001) As of today, same sex intercourse
is still prohibited in Islam. Bible believing Christians have also responded to the
apparent growth in acceptance of homosexuality in various ways. Many
fundamentalists view homosexual behavior as a choice, and believe that it is
possible and desirable to make a transition to heterosexuality. Many evangelical

Christians also see the acceptance of homosexuality as a threat to their beliefs and
doctrines.
While many of today s eastern cultures still adhere strongly to their old oppositions on
homosexuality, western societies have shown much more progress.
Beginning in the 20th century, gay rights movements, as part of the broader civil
rights movement, in conjunction with the development of the often activist academic
Patriarchy In Their Eyes Were Watching God
Society has always valued men more than women. This is seen in the novel Their
Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston. The main character, Janie, lives in
a patriarchal society, which is also fueled by racism. She struggles to overcome
patriarchy in the midst of degrading relationships. She marries three different men,
and each man shows the effects patriarchy has on a society. This novel shows how
oppressed women are, compared to men, and examples are given through Janie s
different relationships.

Not much has changed except for the rights that women have. Women are still seen as
inferior to men and are often beat by their husbands. Feminism is very prevalent in
today s society. Women stand up for other women and for themselves. However,
this is not enough. Women should be treated the same way that men are treated. It
is that simple. Established societal norms are ruining, and have been ruining, the
world for a long time. Hurston was ahead of her time and would have been praised
if she had published this book today. At the time, people were blind to the
patriarchal influence over them. People are now able to open their eyes and see the
cultural separation between male and female. A change is needed today, so books
like this are not needed in the future in order to call our attention to an obvious
The Physical Journey In The Odyssey And The Kite Runner
The physical journey of a character plays a central role in the book and influences
many parts of it. Both The Odyssey and The Kite Runner, have main characters that
go through a physical journey for different reasons that impacts their lives in many
ways. By introspecting the books themes, archetypes, and symbols, it is more
comprehensible. In The Odysseyand The Kite Runner both, the physical journey
augments to the meaning of the books in total.
An important theme that relates to the physical journey in The Kite Runner is the
past. The influence of the past affects Amir in his life as we see from the very first
sentence of the book until the end. I became what I am today at the age of twelve,
on a frigid overcast day in the winter of the 1975... That was a long time ago, but it
s wrong what they say about the past, I ve learned, about how you can bury it.
Because the past claws its way out. Looking back now, I realize I have been
peeking into that deserted alley for the last twenty six years, (Hosseini 1).
Throughout the book, Amir s past haunts him in every action he takes and the
journey for his redemption. To Amir, the past defines who he currently is. All of
his feelings of guilt stimulate him to make up for his mistakes. For example, he
feels responsible for the events leading up to Hassan s murder by the Taliban
because he pushed Hassan and Ali out of Baba s house. So, years later when he
goes back to visit Rahim Khan, Amir is told to make amends by finding his nephew,
Sohrab. The past is mentioned in many parts of the book in his quest, Amir faces
many obstacles from his past.
In The Odyssey, the theme of loyalty relates to Odysseuss physical journey back to
Ithaca. Many characters in the epic are loyal and faithful, like Penelope,
Telemachus, Eumaeus, and even Odysseus himself. Penelope remains loyal to her
husband, by not choosing a suitor during the 20 years he s gone. And there she
[Penelope] sat down with the case on her knees and burst into sobs as she drew out
her husband s bow, (Homer 317). Just carrying out Odysseus s bow with such
sorrow shows how in love she was with Odysseus and how the thought of choosing a
new husband moved her to tears. As Penelope remained loyal to Odysseus and

Course Objectives: Valuation will be discussed as a unifying theme in this course.
This includes such issues as how to value a firm that is not publicly traded, how to
value a potential merger, how to value an investment project. We will examine the
use of debt in a firm s financial structure and ask if that has an impact on the value
of the firm. If a firm pays dividends, does that increase the firm s value?
The key objective of this course is to build on the foundation of your introductory
course in financial concepts and to apply more advanced concepts in corporate finance
in a decision making context. Since computer literacy is essential to the application
of finance theory, the course will incorporate a number of opportunities for the use of
computer tools in a problem solving environment.
After you have successfully completed this course, you will be able to:
Apply value based management to guide valuation of a firm and valuation of a
capital budget project.
Be aware of the underlying factors that impact the value of a financial option.
Understand the basic features of options contracts and how they are priced.
Have an understanding of the use and misuse of derivatives.
Understand how the firm s mixture of debt and equity, the capital structure, can
impact the value of the firm.

Importance Of Career In Nursing
As a high school senior, I have gone through many changes and experiences. I have
learned to not take time for granted and to live in the moment because time goes by

the most crucial. The three biggest changes I have been through are a change in
my skills, my career goals, and my personality. I have always been very skeptical
on what college to apply to because I will be living there for 4 years or more.
Searching for colleges I would enjoy but also get into was a long process. I also
had to take into account that the career I want to go into is Nursing. According to
Bureau of Labor Statistics, a Registered Nurse is a person who has graduated from
a college s nursing program or from a school of nursing and has passed a national
licensing exam known as the NCLEX. Ever since my first day in my Intro to
Healthcare class I have always wanted to go into the healthcare field. My research
is what helped me decide that I want to pursue the job as a Nurse. I began my
search for information while filling out worksheets for my specific traits and
skills. The worksheets that helped me learn more about my career was The Career

have not only learned more about myself and the skills I have but also more about
the career I want to pursue. My personality has gotten more open to conversation

Hillary Clinton Vs Michelle Obama Many people usually spend the majority their
time comparing the past and present presidents against each other. They always talk
about the things the presidents have accomplished leaving behind a great legacy, but
they never consider the great women behind the man. Hillary Rodham Clinton and
Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama are both very different accomplished First
Ladies. Both women had different college career paths. Hillary first attracted national
attention in 1969 for her remarks as the first student commencement speaker at

Michelle served as an associate at the Chicago office of the law firm Sidley Austin.
At the firm, she worked on marketing and intellectual property. In 1991, she held
public sector positions in the Chicago city government as an Assistant to the Mayor
and as Assistant Commissioner of Planning and Development. In 1993, she became
Executive Director for the Chicago office of Public Allies, a non profit organization
encouraging young people to work on social issues in nonprofit groups and
government agencies. She worked there nearly four years and set fundraising records
for the organization that still stood 12 years after she left. Hillary and Michelle both
have contributed differently to the nation as First Lady. In January 1993, Hillary
Clinton headed a Task Force on National Health Care Reform known as the Clinton
health care plan, a proposal that required employers to provide health coverage to
their employees through individual health maintenance organizations. Hillary
supported the passage of the State Children s Health Insurance Program in 1997, and
promoted nationwide immunization against childhood illnesses and encouraged
older women to seek a mammogram to detect breast cancer, with coverage provided
by Medicare. Hillary inspired various medical improvements throughout all areas of
medical care and treatment. Michelle supported the economic stimulus bill in visits to

Influenza Epidemic Essay
The Lord will strike with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with
scorching heat and drought, with blight and mildew, which will plague until death
(Deuteronomy 28:22). At the end of World War I, when a mystery Spanish Flu or
the Great Pandemic death unfolds, before the outbreak is over, 500 million or one
third of the world s population becomes ill and about 20 30 million parish, making it
one of the worst pandemics since the writing of the earth s history . The effect of the
influenzaepidemic is so severe that the average life span decreases by 10 years. Not
only this, as World War I

During these Tribulations, when a quarter of the earth is gone after the turn of the
century, the human race looks to the government to relieve them. For this, because
the origins of this influenza variant are not precisely known and most influenza
pandemics develop in the tropics of Asia then spread from there to the rest of the
world, many believe it originates in China, but the name of Spanish Flu comes
from the early affliction and large mortalities in Spain and not Asia. Scientifically,
whatever gives the 1918 virus the power to generate rapidly, leaves them in a
question about why a person who comes down with the mild flu in the beginning of
1918, can also come down with a more difficult flu the middle of 1919 that can bring
death. One thinks that the experience will drive people to their knees in repentance to
God. Instead, people find the torments of hell as a justification to blame the Scientific
Jews. The fact that the Pandemic introduces darkness to the citizens of the earth,
many do not know why these scientists do not take into consideration the Trench
fever, mustard gas and the fleas in the Trenches for the rapid increase when
determining how the virus spreads. While the combination seems obvious to many
veterans, the governments do not proclaim the German warfare justification for such
a tragedy that breeds disease and pestilence. Whatever the enemy, it is apparent that

Essay about William Morris
William Morris
William Morris, English poet, artist, socialist reformer, and innovator in the Arts and
Crafts
Movement. He was born in Walthamstow, then a village, and moved to a grand
residence there called Water House at the age of 14 this has since become the
William Morris Gallery. He studied at Oxford with the intention of becoming a
clergyman, but while there he met Edward Coley
Burne Jones, also studying for the church, and they both began to turn towards art.
They were persuaded by Rossetti to give up the studies and become artists. Morris
did a year in architectural practice of G.
E. Street, and then turned to painting. However, he soon found that his metier was

Morris married Jane Burden, a beautiful model who appears in many Pre
Raphaelite paintings (it is she who sat for nearly all Rossetti s later works). Jane,
together with her sister Bessie, did embroideries for Morris s firm. Philip
Webb designed much of the furniture, metalwork, and many tiles. For stained glass,
Morris generally designed the backgrounds and
Burne Jones drew most of the figures, with Rossetti and Ford Madox
Brown also contributing designs. Burne Jones also collaborated with
Morris on tapestries, designed many tiles, and drew for the books produced by the
Kelmscott Press, founded by Morris in 1891. Morris was described by Walter
Crane as being the first to approach the craft of practical printing from the point of
view of the artist . The most important book of the Press was the Kelmscott Chaucer,
which has been described as the most beautiful book to be produced since the
Renaissance. This had typography and borders by Morris, with 87 illustrations by
Burne Jones. Other artists working as designers for the Kelmscott Press included C.
M. Gere, Arthur Gaskin, and E. H. New, all from the Birmingham School of Art, and
the Birmingham illustrators were in general much influenced by Morris s books.
Morris s novels are still readily available from second hand bookshops

Political Conflicts And Differences Between Hinduism And...
INTRODUCTION: Religious differences have plagued South Asian countries for
centuries. Inter religious violence result from horizontal inequalities and overlapping
religious and ethnic group boundaries that, in the context of tense political
transformation, consequently breed inter religious grievances and violence
(Basedau, 2013). In simpler terms, inter religious violence is an act of violence
committed by one group of religious followers against another group of religious
followers or institutions. It is an ongoing issue among Hindus and Muslims
especially in India. India is home to roughly 80% Hindus, and about 14% Muslims,
which leads to a lot of religious tensions between the two groups (Abernethy, 2002).
Despite having a constitution that allows for freedom of speech and religion, the
battle for wanting to be the superior religion has always been prevalent. Religion is
an important aspect of South Asian society and many want to confide to traditions
and religion whether it is to make a personal choice or a political choice. This paper
will focus on the differences and similarities between Hindus and Muslims and how
to create a balance between these religions to have open lines of communication.
DIFFERENCES:
Hinduism and Islam are two of the most popular and common religions in the world.
Despite their popularity, they have their differences in regard to place of worship,
and their history. A majority of these differences go back to the medieval times, when

Slavery During The Twentieth Century
Jeremy Black has recently stated slavery played a major role in the twentieth century.
The twentieth century, he argues, witnessed a highpoint in slavery as it rose to a new
peak. He defines slavery as being public which differs from the conventional account
of enslavement, economic exploitation and racism. For Black, the conventional
account of slaveryhas been easier to define and confront. This dissertation through the
work of three authors: Buchi Emecheta, Ayi Kwei Armah and Tayeb Salih aims to act
as a corrective to approaches similar to Black s theory, that slavery has been easily
defined, by demonstrating the tension between remembering and forgetting history.
The twentieth century narratives trace the history of the Atlantic slave tradethrough
contemporary Africa, reflecting the role of slavery in present day. The works unearth
remnants of the past in order to locate African memories in literature and bring them
forth from the margins of history. Each author originates from different geographical
locations in Africa, which allows various forms of slavery to emerge in the narratives,
representing slavery as continuing to haunt the African psyche.
In tracing transatlantic slave trade literature, Achille Mbembe states, there is,
properly speaking no African memory presenting the void of African voices in the
history of the slave trade. The memories depicted in literature are as Paul Connerton
claims remembered by those in power demonstrating the
Catharsis In Othello
In both ancient and modern theater, tragedy is prevalent. Audiences everywhere
enjoy watching these stories of tragic heroes unfold as they experience catharsis or
purgation of the emotions, leaving them feeling better instead of worse. After
observing many tragedies in the fourth century B.C., Aristotle created a now famous
description of tragedyand its heroes. He recognized tragic heroes had a tragic flaw or
hamartia, were of high estate, eventually came to recognize their flaw (anagnorisis),
experience a fall or reversal of fortune, and affect the audience, purging them of their
hidden emotions. Both Othelloand Troy Maxson possess some of these
characteristics, however Troy Maxson should not be classified as a tragic herolike

After realizing Desdemona remained faithful, Othello grieves over her death and
denounces himself. From the possession of this heavenly sight! Blow me about in
the winds! Roast me in sulfur! Wash me in steep down gulfs of liquid fire! O
Desdemona! Dead, Desdemona! Dead! O! O! (Shakespeare 1345). The audience
feels pity on Othello because he is truly sorrowful for his actions. Emotions of pain
and regret are released but do not leave them feeling bad. Instead, the freeing of
these pains make the audience feel relieved after watching this play. However, the
audience, and myself personally, does not feel pity for Troy. He never earned the
respect or emotional appeal of the audience, therefore, his fall does not result in the
purgation of emotions as Othello does. After reading and watching Fences and
Othello, I concluded that Othello was indeed a tragic hero and Troy was not.
Although Othello did not meet every characteristic Aristotle described perfectly, he
did achieve the goal of the tragic hero which is to create a catharsis within the
audience. While Troy Maxson was very tragic, he did not possess the qualities of a
tragic hero and did not create an emotional connection and purgation with the

Dinoflagellate Algae
Negative impacts of Dinoflagellate algae: economic, ecologic, and human health
hazards
ABSTRACT Increasing pollution both atmospheric and oceanic are encouraging
algal growth and increasing the frequency and geographic range of high density
dinoflagellate blooms. Public health and economic impacts, as well as negative
ecological effects of the aquatic environment are increasing the scientific research
done on toxic dinoflagellate species. Contaminated bivalves are causing paralytic
shellfish poisoning (PSP) and diarrhetic shellfish poisoning in humans (DSP); with
the number of cases increasing steadily in the last 40 years. Toxins released by
certain species of the phylum dinoflagellate are the cause of this spreading ... Show

A general trophic routing and impact model is proposed in Fig. 1 below, (Smayda
1992). Aquaculture has recently started to have major concern surround
dinoflagellate species taking over bioassay tanks, that house several species of
finfish that are being decimated by the presence of one of the thousands of species
of dinoflagellates. Finfish, is an important group of fish to coastal fishing
industries who experience damage to the gills from the armored bodies of
dinoflagellate, and the spines extending down the length of their bodies. Table 1
below is a list of all finish, bivalves, and various oceanic wildlife affected by recent
increases in dinoflagellate populations. (Anderson et al. 1993). In the following
review I will cover impacts toxic dinoflagellate species are having on oceanic
organisms and the subsequent effects to aquaculture and fishing industries, and the
reasons for increasing frequencies and densities of toxic blooms.
INCREASING ALGAL BLOOMS Algaepopulation dynamics is based on growth,
transportation, predation, mortality, and dispersion. The success of an algal
population depends on the gains and losses depicted in a basic equation of population

gains are higher than the losses a bloom will
Close Order Drill Research Paper
DEFENDING CLOSE ORDER DRILL One of the oldest traditions that exist in the
Marine Corps is close order drill. There are many that believe drill should be
completely removed from the Marine Corps. Though it no longer serves a purpose
in combat it is the cornerstone that every Marine is built off of from the very first
day at recruit training. If the MarineCorps removed closer order drills it would be a
grave mistake. Close order drill has a rich history in the Marine Corps, while
instilling discipline, and confidence in Marines. Closer order drill can be traced back
all the way to the 4th century when the Spartan army was undergoing re
organization.1 Much has changed in closer order drill since then, but the basics are
still the same.

2.Why do you want to participate in this global health trip? What are your goals,
both personally and for the two week trip as well as after the trip?

What do you think will be your greatest challenge?
On this trip, I anticipate communicating with people of a different culture may be a
challenge. Although I do not speak Brazilian Portuguese, I know that we will have a
bilingual interpreter with us as well as NJMS students who speak both languages and
thus, I know that the language barrier will not be a big challenge. More than the
language, I want to be contentious on this trip regarding acknowledging my
privileges and that I need to understand the Brazilian approach to medicine in the
context of their culture as well as the resources available to them. Furthermore, I
understand that I have limited knowledge and skills as a first year medical student
and so can only provide basic medical services at this time. Therefore, I am most
apprehensive about effectively understanding and communicating with the Brazilian
community and recognizing that currently I am only able to provide a limited amount
of aid to these communities.
4.How do you plan on financially supporting this endeavor? (Are you willing to
fundraise as a team, as well as apply to the available scholarships?)
I fully intend to apply to any available scholarships in order to fund this trip. I am
also looking forward to working with other students going on this trip in order to
organize fundraisers such as bake sales and raffles. I also intend to start a GoFundMe
page as well as seek out local businesses for sponsorship. Finally,
Parables In The Gospel Of Matthew
Parables are simple and fictional stories, similes, or metaphors that are true to
everyday life as they depict a moral or spiritual lesson. In the Gospel of Matthew,
Jesus used parables to illustrate the kingdom of God, which is defined as God s
future display of power and judgment in which he rules over all creation. The
parables assure that heaven is real and an afterlife exists. According to Jesus, parables
are important because although we are given knowledge of the mysteries of the
kingdom of heaven, they still require us to try to do some critical thinking and
further reflect in order to understand the precise meaning behind the story; therefore,
it is important to use the gift of understanding. First of all, Jesus used the parable of
the Sower and the seeds to explain the strength of faith in an individual. A sower had
dropped seeds in four different types of environments: a hard, empty footpath, a rocky
ground with little soil, a bunch of thorns, and an area of good soil. All of the seeds
that unfortunately fell in bad environments had unsuccessful outcomes. Birds ate up
the seed in the hard, empty footpath. The sprouting of the seed that fell on the... Show

The different types of ground are seen in people all around us; the bad grounds
depict bad character and the good soil depicts good character. The world is full of
problems and worries, which can become like thorns in our lives as they suffocate
the word of God. Encountering these obstacles is inevitable, but we must overcome
them and let God in. The key is to have perseverance and permit our hearts to have
the capacity to remain faithful. By having good intentions and a clean heart, then we
will bear good fruit ourselves and yield remarkable
Importance Of Pitching In A Nursery
First you need to know that you want to pitch. If you don t want to pitch then don t
do it. So, first you need a good pitching stance. You should get someone that knows
the rules of pitching. If you are pitching wrong than it can be called a bok. A bok is
like a penalty. If you do it once you will get a warning. If you do it again, all the base
runners will advance one base. That isnВґt good. After you found a good stance, you
need to work on gripping the ball a good way. When you have a good grip you
need to start slow. Throw the ball a few times slow. When you start getting the hang
of it go a little faster and faster until you throw at a good speed. There is a lot more
to know about pitching. The pitcheris the 2nd strongest person on a baseballteam.
Pitching is really hard to do. I can pitch 70+ m/h. Usually people my age can pitch at
30+ m/h. What i did to pitch that fast is make a exercise chart. I did 50 push ups
every hour from 8am to 8pm. Then i would bench lift 80 lbs 3 times a day. I would
also work my legs. I would leg press 300 lbs!? But remember to keep your
expectations low. I could barely pitch 20 m/h. Then i was sad. So i did the exercises.

Homelessness can happen to anyone, you can be the richest person in the world
today and lose it all tomorrow and be out in the streets without knowing what to
do. According to Greg Owen and Michelle Decker Gerrad, one of the reasons
people are homeless in Minnesota is due to recession. They stated, In the year
2000, when the U.S. economy was at a high point, nearly a quarter of all adults
who were homeless in our state had full time jobs. The 2012 survey shows us that
only 8 percent of those who are homeless today have full time jobs this survey
shows that not all homeless people are poor it s just they cannot find affordable
housing because of the economy. This is where the government comes in and a

Driving Is A Wonderful Privilege And A Pleasure For Many
Driving is a wonderful privilege and a pleasure for many American teens. It is a
way to get away from nagging parents and siblings, and a way for a kid to have a
little responsibility. Even though people think most students who are of age to get
a driver s license would have one, research is showing that the average age a
person first gets their license is going up. Regardless of the age when a teenager
receives their license, the number of passengers for teen drivers should be limited.
New drivers spend many hours on the road with friends. Between working, drivingto
sporting events, running errands or visiting friends, teen drivers spend a ton of time
burning up the roads. Driving may even take up a majority of their time. A lot of...

The reason for this is the person who already has their license can give the
inexperienced driver tips, help them keep their eyes on the road by not distracting
them, making sure they do not run through a red light or stop sign, and even to
help the teen ignore other passenger s advice who do not know how to drive. The
licensed person can use their knowledge to help the young driver to make it from
point A, to point B. Just like any other skill, driving takes time to learn and get
better at. Recent studies have been done that show a decline in the number of
drivers getting their driver s license between the ages of 16 and 19. It s especially
pronounced for the teens in 2014, just 24.5 percent of 16 year olds had a license, a
47 percent decrease from 1983, when 46.2 percent did. And at the tail end of the
teen years, 69 percent of 19 year olds had licenses in 2014, compared to 87.3
percent in 1983, a 21 percent decrease. (Beck) Of the people surveyed in this study
many said that they were too busy, could not afford to drive, or already had a ride
from others as their reasons for not getting their license. The longer teens wait to get
their license the more mature, they can become and that should make them better
drivers. Based on government research, drivers under age 20 have the highest
proportion of distraction related fatal crashes. (How to prevent...) Parents need to

Pro Gun Control Essay

of our nation. Many people out there are supporting the anti gun control cause with
the excuse of self defense . I believe that not everyone will handle a gun for self
defense. The possession of a gun is a sign of power. One of the bigger ambitions
that one has is to have power and the easier it is to obtain a gun; the faster a
criminal will gain power over an innocent person. When one is in possession of a
gun, that person has complete control of their actions and may act upon the weapon

to control herself, she will never be strong enough to control others and will resort
to the easiest ways to eliminate that person. She will do whatever is easier to get
that stone out of her way rather than talking things over and controlling the
situation. Not so long ago my neighbor s daughter was killed by her ex. I am
positive that this could have been stopped. I do not know how the man obtained
the gun, but I am sure it was through an illegal way. He is not a policeman, he
worked at a supermarket. He does not live in a violent area. He lived in
Bergenfield with his girlfriend. The man did go buy a gun a day before because
he knew that he wanted to kill his girlfriend. The saddest part is that he killed the
girl because she wanted to break up with him. This is what we want for our
country? For people to kill their former boyfriends/girlfriends because that person
ended the relationship. This tragedy could have not been stopped by the girl having a
gun with her. In fact, she might have had to face years of prison for murder and
carrying a gun without a license. Sure, gun control will not eliminate violence or
completely prevent criminals from obtaining guns. Criminals have their ways to go
around the law but by having gun control the murders and assaults with gun will
lessen. I know that everyone has rights but the 2nd amendment is misinterpreted.
Drinking Age
Drinking Age The drinking age was moved from 18 to 21 for a reason. The higher
drinking age of 21 has saved many lives, helped reduce the amount of underage
drinking, and therefore should not be lowered. Many studies from a large variety of
sources have proven higher drinking ages have a positive effect on society. Alcohol
is harmful to the development of younger people. Research has shown that an adult
is less likely to binge drink (have five or more drinks in a row). According to statistics

to one s next level of growth and full potential as they embark in the future.
Furthermore, I would prefer one that in which challenges me to perform and/or
exceed the expectations put before me to further exemplify what I can achieve. . I ve
been taught through my own personal experiences to make the best out of any
situation because settling for anything less than that is simply unacceptable and not
living up to my maximum potential. So yes, referring to my earlier statement my
ideal college community is supportive and competitive. Lastly, as long as my sled is

Columbia
Columbia University first caught my attention due to the unambiguous fact that it
was one of the few institutions that would allow me to be able to acquire such a
challenging, rigorous education simultaneously pushing my athletic limits, while
being in one of the best cities in the world. With taking this next step in my life
pursuing college, IпёЏ really want to find a place that IпёЏ know will meet my
expectations academically, but also be a place that is conducive to learning and
growth. There are several institutions offering a rigorous education on a beautiful

Postmodern/Complexity Adaptive Systems Reduce Managerial Errors Healthcare is
one of the fastest growing industries. As the world around us is evolving, healthcare
organizations must develop new an effective ways to manage. With the many changes
consistently evolving around us, managerial errors have increased with inefficient
management skills. Postmodern/complexity adaptive systems can help organizations
in avoiding these errors. This paper will explain ten errors and explain applying
(CAS) will give better solutions to help managers in avoiding ... Show more content

CAS theory tells us management will involve the team so they will have a better
understanding in what environment will be most effective. (p.71)
The next error according to Johnson (2009) is assuming the employees will not
reallocate work assignments based on their perception of the best arrangement even
after receiving work allocation assignment from management. (p.80) reallocating
work assignments, management should call a meeting with the team to decide what
strategies will benefit and be successful. Ignoring the speed with which the informal
organization can transmit messages and, therefore, failing to manage rumors in a
productive manner. (Johnson, 2009. p.80) Management will be alert and ready to
address a situation by staying in constant communication with others. Organizations
engaged in effective, fast decision making use just as much information as slow
decision makers but information of a different kind (Eisenhardt, 1990). The last four
errors according to Johnson (2009) I am listing below in bullets and will touch on
each one before concluding. (p.81)
В·Failing to treat the organization s dominant logic as an emergent property of the
system and, instead, treating it as something that can be imposed on the system.
Johnson (2009) states, the behavior of a CAS cannot be obtained by summing the
behaviors of the constituent parts, but emerge as the result of the pattern of
connections among diverse agents.
Tyranny-Personal Narrative
What were you thinking? My mother said, with a clear look of shame and
disappointment resting on her face. What will people say about us? My father
roared from the other room sounding enraged. I didn t have an answer for any of
the millions of questions my parent s threw at me that night. I believe I was too
shocked myself to utter any words. All I could do was stare down at my night stand
and look at the two pink lines on this plastic white stick: which indicated that I was in
fact pregnant.
I had always been super shy and quiet as a child, this I believe, is what made it hard
for my immediate family to comprehend the idea of sweet little Kimberly Ann being
pregnant at the age of 16. It was embarrassing to say the least, having my entire
family gawk at me. What? I didn t even know you were kissing boys yet! My tia
(aunt) shouted out, as my mother broke the news. I wasn t a bad kid; furthermore, I
received fairly decent grades and never gotten into any trouble besides the
occasional tardy I d receive from spending too much time in the halls chattering
with my best friends by my locker. I was the girl with my hair in a ponytail and a
thick warm hoodie on nearly, every day. It s cold in there, I d tell my mother when
she d complain about the way I always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were several times in which I felt like it would be easier to give up, but I
knew I needed to get my diploma. The odds were against me . . . you re not going
to graduate, you re never going to do anything with your life, my father would say,
when we d get into a disagreement. As much as I despised such words; eventually, I
welcomed them with open arms. They sparked a motivation in me that I never knew
I held before. I couldn t wait to show him and everyone else who had ever doubted
me, that I would
Child Soldier Research Paper
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you were a soldier? What about a
child soldier? Well, the answer is it s not good (to be a child soldier). This is
because they re being put through so many bad, scary, tough, times. You probably
wouldn t even believe half of the things that you re about to learn about for what
they re put through, but it s true. Child soldiers should receive amnesty, to a certain
extent. This is because they are being forced to do terrible things like killing,
stealing, putting others in danger, etc. According to Michel Chikwanine from an
interview, he said They handed me a gun and said shoot straight ahead (which was
where they had his bestfriend stand).... I dropped the gun and took the blindfold off

Analysis Of The Opening Line Of The Bell Jar By Sylvia
Plath
The Girl in the Bell Jar
It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs, and I
didn t know what I was doing in New York (1; ch. 1), the opening line of The Bell
Jar by Sylvia Plath, effectively sets the tone for both the life of Plath and the
remainder of the novel. Plath s depression and cynical outlook on life fueled the
creation of many of her poems and novels, and particularly The Bell Jar in its
autobiographical fictional genre. In this way, Sylvia Plath is able to more clearly
display the disillusionment of the Modernist era in The Bell Jar as she showcases
the harshly conforming expectations placed on women in the 1950s and their
negative consequences on the psyches of these women. Sylvia Plath was born on
October 27, 1932, in Boston, Massachusetts, to German immigrant, Otto Plath and
American born Aurelia Plath. Otto and Aurelia gave Sylvia Plath an early start in
her venture to become an author through their own natural literary gifts and
reverence for education (Critical Insights 13, 14). However, tragedy struck only
nine days after Sylvia Plath s eighth birthday when her father died of an embolism
of the lung, an event that greatly affected Plath and is alluded to in several of Plath
s works, including The Bell Jar ( The Bell Jar 23). After Otto Plath s death, Sylvia
Plath and her remaining family moved from the seaside inland to Wellesley, heavily
impacting her imagination for the worse, but providing her with a far
The Global Catch Of Shrimp Species
1.Introduction
Penaeid shrimps (Family Penaeidae: Rafinesque, 1815) are the most economically
important crustaceans in the world as a primitive group of decapod (Abele, 1991;
Chan, 1998; Dall et al., 1990). The family has a world wide distribution in shallow,
inshore tropical and subtropical waters. The highest diversity of the family
members occurs in the Indo West Pacific region with about 205 species grouped
into 26 genera (Farfante and Kensley, 1997; Martin and Davis, 2001; McLaughlin et
al., 2005; Nizinski, 2003). The global catch of shrimp species is about 3.4 million tons
/year. More than half of which are caught from the Western and Northwest Central
Pacific fisheries, besides the contribution of other essential fisheries in the Indian and
in the Western Atlantic Oceans (FAO, 2014).
Shrimps remain to be the largest single product in value terms accounting about 15 %
of the internationally traded fisheries products in 2012. Moreover, shrimps are
primarily produced in developing countries, and much of this production
progressively expands in the international trade. As the economic conditions develop
in these countries, growing demand leads to high domestic consumption leading to
fewer exports. Such high demand and the subsequent overexploitation are negatively
impacting the standing stocks of shrimp which fall below the healthy standard levels.
This requires regular monitoring, assessment and management of each species to
keep tracking of the effects of such

The result that an institution receives from the Savitribai Phule Pune University
(SPPU) is in PDF (Portable Document File) format file. To analyze and manipulate
them manually is very tedious job for a person. This is where text mining and file
format convertors come into light to overcome this kind of problem. Text mining has
an exceptional contribution for programmers and scientists to mine data out from
textual files. Text mining overlooks the redundant textual data and only targets only
on the required data patterns. Text mining plays important role because its center of
functioning is devising patterns into necessary format or could be said that it
derives a very quality of information from text. File format conversion has always
been a bridge as well as challenge to access that particular data without particular
tool. Different files have protocol set like internal and
Violent Programs on Television Lead to Aggressive
Behavior...
Since 1982, the National Institute of Mental Health, along with other reputable health
organizations has collected data that connects media violence, with violent acts.
Conclusions deduced from this data prove that violent programs on television lead to
aggressive behavior by children and teenagers who watch those programs. Television
violenceaffects young people of all ages, all socio economic levels, and all levels of
intelligence.
Today s children view vast amounts of violence on television. A steady diet of death,
killings, torture, and other grotesque acts may be viewed on any day by vulnerable
youth. When children are young, they are impressionable to all their surroundings,
and especially vulnerable to what they see. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A particular focus of the study was the media s portrayal of violence and the public
s personal experiences. Television is the primary source of media for most
American citizens, and therefore television violence is the primary source for
viewing violence in both adults and children. This report gave evidence of the
media s ability to socialize the viewers to the norms and values of the culture.
Previously the ability of television to do so had been disputed that the media was
seen only as a re enforcer and not a creator.
Research performed by Albert Bandura concluded there were strong short term
effects of exposure to violence in the media that affects children. In his studies,
children watched models perform aggressive acts against a doll. These acts of
aggression were presented under three circumstances: 1. the children saw the model
rewarded for aggressive behavior, 2. the children saw the model receive no
consequences for their aggressive behavior, and 3. the children saw the model
punished. All three groups were able to imitate the aggressive behavior that
contradicts early notions that the influences of violence were not negative if the
violence was not glorified.
The Help or Hurt study done by Robert Liebert and Robert Baron, further displays the
short term
Dogs And Pugs Research Paper
They are, no doubt that great dogs, erected for centuries because of their miraculous
disposition. Pug is never happier than spending time with a human family, often
accompanying someone from one room to another. He is welcomed at every step,
with a nice, soft part in tanning, gray and black, with a black mask that emphasizes
his soft and wrinkled faces.
Pugs are usually good with other dogs, cats and children. Bigger and stronger than
many small dog breeds, even they can withstand a bit more in a brutal game, as long
as they follow and do not become uncontrollable. Due to their relatively large size
(for toy breeds) and their peaceful temperament, they are wonderful with children and
perfect for families going from one place to another, until
Essay on Anatomy Case Study on the Evolution of Skin
Color
The main cause of Skin Cancer is exposure to the sun. Caucasians are more at risk
for skin cancer because people with Darker Skin are more evolved to black out the
sun. The age that Skin cancer typically occurs is after 50. The incidence of skin
cancer is greater in older individuals. The amount of light reaches the North and
South Poles in a predictable manner. The map shows all one color near the poles. The
latitude that receives the greatest amount of UV light is the equator. Based on this
information, the darkest pigmentation of skin is along the equator. The lightest

The effect of UV light on folate levels makes the count drop. Folate is linked to
natural selection because the folates deplete from UV light exposure, which
causes less births through miscarriages or birth defects. The skin tones related to
higher folate levels are lighter skin tones. In my opinion, if someone lived in a
region further from the equator and had no history of skin cancer, they would be
able to have Children easier. Genetics, UV exposure, and folate levels all have to
do with skin cancer and reproduction. A light skinned person living in the tropics,
after a while, could have trouble reproducing. A light skinned person living in a
polar region would most likely have no problems reproducing. A dark skinned
person living in the tropics would most likely have no problems reproducing. A
dark skinned person living in the polar region would most likely have no problems
reproducing. At a polar latitude, the inhabitants would be lightly pigmented. Their
folates would be high. In a tropical area, the inhabitants would most likely be darkly
pigmented. They would have low folate levels. Darker skinned individuals are
situated more near the equator and have less folates. The opposite goes for light
skinned people. Vitamin D is linked to Natural selection because Vitamin D is
essential for normal growth, calcium absorption,

  • 2. Using A Systems Theory Model Open Systems A system interdependent on groups of people or items working together to complete a specific goal is known as an open system (Cordan, 2013). Healthcare organizations are usually designed around systems that interact with outside environments, indicating that they are open systems (Cordan, 2013). The purpose of this paper is to use a systems theorymodel to examine a workflow problem within an open system unit, in one organization, and design a solution to the workflow issue. Systems Theory Description Cardiac and Vascular holding unit is an eight bed unit open system unit in that this unit regularly exchanges feedback with the outside environment. The unit staff is responsible for providing care to patients receiving invasive patient both inpatients and outpatients vascular or cardiac procedures. Myers and O Brien Pallas, 2010, contend that an open system, Nursing Services Delivery Theory (NSDT), certain concepts: input, output, throughput combine to influence work demands achieve goals and complete daily workflow task Input In the CAV input is derived from: patients, staff, materials outside data sources, and funding. Input is essentially the flow of energy exchange from outside sources that renews or sustains the system (Meyer, O Brien Pallas, 2010). For this particular unit input can also be impacted by the particular insurance standard indicting the medical necessity of certain procedures. When energies are transformed within the system it then indicates
  • 3. The Hobbit, By. R. Tolkien I. Subject The Hobbit, written by J.R.R. Tolkien, tells of the hardships and struggles of Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who lives in a hobbit hole named Bag End. Bilbo is hired by a party of dwarves to go on an adventure to get their stolen gold from the lonely mountain. The only catch is that the mountain is guarded by the dragon, Smaug. Bilbo goes on a quest throughout Wilderland meeting enemies like Trolls, Elves in the Elven hall, and Goblins in the Goblin tunnels. Bilbo discovers an important creature named Gollum in these Goblin tunnels. Gollum possess a powerful ring that makes the wearer invisible. Bilbo finds this ring in the Goblin tunnels and takes it. It helps Bilbo in many ways, most importantly allowing bilbo to talk to Smaug without being seen. While talking with the dragon Bilbo discovers the one and only weak spot of the dragon, a chip in his gem plated scales. The dragon then attacks a town of men and is slain by Bard, a skillful bowman. The dwarves then reclaim their stolen treasure in the Lonely Mountain. Greed leads armies of all races to the Lonely Mountain wanting some of the gold and loot inside. The greed causes a battle to happen in which the Dwarf King Thorin is killed. Bilbo then returns to Bag End as a new person. He is braver, bolder, and more courageous than he was before the journey. II. Theme In J.R.R Tolkien s The Hobbitthere is no better way to say it than, do not not judge a book by its cover. One day the Grey Wizard Gandalf came

On the other hand, the Declaration of Sentiments which was written by Elizabeth Cady Stanton focused on achieving equality for women in the U.S. Both documents have similar structure, persuasive dictions and also specific objectives intended to grant them their freedom from the unjust government system. Conversely, these memorable declarations also have differing views of the government system, integrated different tones and also focused on specific audience. The Declaration of Independence mainly focused on the thirteen coloniesseeking separation from the British government. • 5. Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease Gastro esophageal reflux disease: pathology and treatment Introduction Gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a medical condition where abnormal distal esophageal acid exposure caused by reflux of acid contents results in troublesome symptoms1, 2. It is caused by the failure of endogenous anti reflux barriers such as the lower esophageal sphincter1. Small amounts of reflux occur naturally throughout the day in everyone but normal anatomy and physiology of the esophagus, lower esophageal sphincter, diaphragm muscles at the hiatus and stomach prevent pathological GERD3. The worldwide prevalence of GERD is estimated to be 13 19%, with 35% suffering symptoms at least monthly, 12% at least weekly and 5% daily4 though different sources have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hiatal hernia are thought to be caused in part by loss of elasticity of phrenosphageal ligaments and repeated shortening of the esophagus due to swallowing or retching3. Obesity increases the risk of hiatal hernia and hence GERD by increasing intra abdominal pressure, which stimulates reflux4. The most common form of hiatal hernia is Type 1, sliding hiatal hernia, which occurs when the gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) is not bound at the abdominal cavity by the phrenosophageal ligament and hence slides superiorly to rest above the diaphragm, though all forms can affect LES and GER1, 8. An acid pocket is created when acidic gastric juice layers onto stomach contents and extends into the hernia, hence potentially aggravating GER and causing GERD14. Hiatal hernia also disrupts the mechanism of esophageal acid clearance after reflux14. LES exposure to intra abdominal pressure and LES pressure are both reduced in patients with hiatal hernia, hence impeding LES function, possibly due to compression of the esophagus within the hiatal canal3, 13

Over the next several hundred years, the city was subject to attacks from Persians, Arabs and nomadic people trying to take over the city. Members of the fourth crusade, who also governed the city for a short time, also attacked Constantinople. All these attacked lead to an attack in 1453 by the Ottoman Turks led by Sultan Mehmet II. Due to the constant attacks led by others, the city s defenses were severely weakened, allowing the Ottoman Turks to conquer the city. • 12. Douglas Muzzio s Decent People Shouldn T Live Here When I first think of Miami, I picture the hot sun scorching down on party goers enjoying their day on the beach. After their day of sun bathing and sipping on some tequila, they drive their Lamborghinis back to their penthouses and prepare for a night out on the town and the rest is history. These beliefs about Miamiprospered from various TV shows and films that I ve watched throughout my life, primarily within the past ten years (because I don t really remember much before that). My perception of Miami is congruent with film representations of big cities attracting luxurious millionaires and lively young adults, contrary to the reality of a crime ridden paradise. In today s social media, the person being bullied can report to the social media workers rude comments, inappropriate pictures, and just bullying itself. Then the comments will be taken down. Religion also plays a key role in the persecution of homosexuals. The belief that homosexuality is a sin seems to dominate the church community. Those of Islamic religion are strongly against the very idea of homosexuality and offer a strong punishment to those who oppose their views. In Saudi Arabia on April 16, 2001, five homosexuals were sentenced to 2,600 lashes and 6 years in prison, and four others to 2,400 lashes and 5 years imprisonment for deviant sexual behavior. Many fundamentalists view homosexual behavior as a choice, and believe that it is possible and desirable to make a transition to heterosexuality. Many evangelical Garcia 3 Christians also see the acceptance of homosexuality as a threat to their beliefs and doctrines. The main character, Janie, lives in a patriarchal society, which is also fueled by racism. She struggles to overcome patriarchy in the midst of degrading relationships. She marries three different men, and each man shows the effects patriarchy has on a society. • 17. The Physical Journey In The Odyssey And The Kite Runner The physical journey of a character plays a central role in the book and influences many parts of it. Both The Odyssey and The Kite Runner, have main characters that go through a physical journey for different reasons that impacts their lives in many ways. By introspecting the books themes, archetypes, and symbols, it is more comprehensible. In The Odysseyand The Kite Runner both, the physical journey augments to the meaning of the books in total. An important theme that relates to the physical journey in The Kite Runner is the past. The influence of the past affects Amir in his life as we see from the very first sentence of the book until the end. I became what I am today at the age of twelve, on a frigid overcast day in the winter of the 1975... That was a long time ago, but it s wrong what they say about the past, I ve learned, about how you can bury it. Because the past claws its way out. Looking back now, I realize I have been peeking into that deserted alley for the last twenty six years, (Hosseini 1). Throughout the book, Amir s past haunts him in every action he takes and the journey for his redemption. To Amir, the past defines who he currently is. All of his feelings of guilt stimulate him to make up for his mistakes. For example, he feels responsible for the events leading up to Hassan s murder by the Taliban because he pushed Hassan and Ali out of Baba s house. So, years later when he goes back to visit Rahim Khan, Amir is told to make amends by finding his nephew, Sohrab. The past is mentioned in many parts of the book in his quest, Amir faces many obstacles from his past. In The Odyssey, the theme of loyalty relates to Odysseuss physical journey back to Ithaca. Many characters in the epic are loyal and faithful, like Penelope, Telemachus, Eumaeus, and even Odysseus himself. Penelope remains loyal to her husband, by not choosing a suitor during the 20 years he s gone. And there she [Penelope] sat down with the case on her knees and burst into sobs as she drew out her husband s bow, (Homer 317). Just carrying out Odysseus s bow with such sorrow shows how in love she was with Odysseus and how the thought of choosing a new husband moved her to tears. As Penelope remained loyal to Odysseus and

Inter religious violence result from horizontal inequalities and overlapping religious and ethnic group boundaries that, in the context of tense political transformation, consequently breed inter religious grievances and violence (Basedau, 2013). In simpler terms, inter religious violence is an act of violence committed by one group of religious followers against another group of religious followers or institutions. It is an ongoing issue among Hindus and Muslims especially in India. India is home to roughly 80% Hindus, and about 14% Muslims, which leads to a lot of religious tensions between the two groups (Abernethy, 2002). Despite having a constitution that allows for freedom of speech and religion, the battle for wanting to be the superior religion has always been prevalent. Religion is an important aspect of South Asian society and many want to confide to traditions and religion whether it is to make a personal choice or a political choice. This paper will focus on the differences and similarities between Hindus and Muslims and how to create a balance between these religions to have open lines of communication. DIFFERENCES: Hinduism and Islam are two of the most popular and common religions in the world. Despite their popularity, they have their differences in regard to place of worship, and their history. A majority of these differences go back to the medieval times, when the
  • 25. Slavery During The Twentieth Century Jeremy Black has recently stated slavery played a major role in the twentieth century. The twentieth century, he argues, witnessed a highpoint in slavery as it rose to a new peak. He defines slavery as being public which differs from the conventional account of enslavement, economic exploitation and racism. For Black, the conventional account of slaveryhas been easier to define and confront. This dissertation through the work of three authors: Buchi Emecheta, Ayi Kwei Armah and Tayeb Salih aims to act as a corrective to approaches similar to Black s theory, that slavery has been easily defined, by demonstrating the tension between remembering and forgetting history. The twentieth century narratives trace the history of the Atlantic slave tradethrough contemporary Africa, reflecting the role of slavery in present day. The works unearth remnants of the past in order to locate African memories in literature and bring them forth from the margins of history. Each author originates from different geographical locations in Africa, which allows various forms of slavery to emerge in the narratives, representing slavery as continuing to haunt the African psyche. In tracing transatlantic slave trade literature, Achille Mbembe states, there is, properly speaking no African memory presenting the void of African voices in the history of the slave trade. The memories depicted in literature are as Paul Connerton claims remembered by those in power demonstrating the

Audiences everywhere enjoy watching these stories of tragic heroes unfold as they experience catharsis or purgation of the emotions, leaving them feeling better instead of worse. After observing many tragedies in the fourth century B.C., Aristotle created a now famous description of tragedyand its heroes. He recognized tragic heroes had a tragic flaw or hamartia, were of high estate, eventually came to recognize their flaw (anagnorisis), experience a fall or reversal of fortune, and affect the audience, purging them of their hidden emotions. Emotions of pain and regret are released but do not leave them feeling bad. Instead, the freeing of these pains make the audience feel relieved after watching this play. However, the audience, and myself personally, does not feel pity for Troy. He never earned the respect or emotional appeal of the audience, therefore, his fall does not result in the purgation of emotions as Othello does. After reading and watching Fences and Othello, I concluded that Othello was indeed a tragic hero and Troy was not. Although Othello did not meet every characteristic Aristotle described perfectly, he did achieve the goal of the tragic hero which is to create a catharsis within the audience. While Troy Maxson was very tragic, he did not possess the qualities of a tragic hero and did not create an emotional connection and purgation with the

In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus used parables to illustrate the kingdom of God, which is defined as God s future display of power and judgment in which he rules over all creation. The parables assure that heaven is real and an afterlife exists. According to Jesus, parables are important because although we are given knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, they still require us to try to do some critical thinking and further reflect in order to understand the precise meaning behind the story; therefore, it is important to use the gift of understanding. First of all, Jesus used the parable of the Sower and the seeds to explain the strength of faith in an individual. A sower had dropped seeds in four different types of environments: a hard, empty footpath, a rocky ground with little soil, a bunch of thorns, and an area of good soil. Recent studies have been done that show a decline in the number of drivers getting their driver s license between the ages of 16 and 19. The Gardiner took Elizabeth back to Longbourn to be with her family. Mrs. Bennet was being crazy as usual and then they learned that Wickham had gambling debts. None of this news was good. Mr. Bennett and Mr. Gardiner were looking for Lydia and Wickham, but after no luck Mr. Bennet returned home. Mr. Gardiner continued to look and found them. Wickham said he would marry Lydia but there is a price. He wants her father to give her equal shares of his wealth. Mr. Bennet was still confused about who paid Wickham debts. He thought that maybe Mr. Gardiner did it. Even though Lydia married a crook, her mother was still excited that one of her daughter was married. Mrs. Bennet was only focused on getting her daughter married and not their well being. Lydia and Wickham came back to visit and Lydia told Elizabeth that Darcy was at her wedding to Wickham. Many people out there are supporting the anti gun control cause with the excuse of self defense . I believe that not everyone will handle a gun for self defense. The possession of a gun is a sign of power. One of the bigger ambitions that one has is to have power and the easier it is to obtain a gun; the faster a criminal will gain power over an innocent person. When one is in possession of a gun, that person has complete control of their actions and may act upon the weapon however the person may please even if they know that their action will cause harm to defense less people. I always tell my sister that if she is not strong enough to control herself, she will never be strong enough to control others and will resort to the easiest ways to eliminate that person. She will do whatever is easier to get that stone out of her way rather than talking things over and controlling the situation. Not so long ago my neighbor s daughter was killed by her ex. I am positive that this could have been stopped. I do not know how the man obtained the gun, but I am sure it was through an illegal way. He is not a policeman, he worked at a supermarket. He does not live in a violent area. He lived in Bergenfield with his girlfriend. The man did go buy a gun a day before because he knew that he wanted to kill his girlfriend. The saddest part is that he killed the girl because she wanted to break up with him. This is what we want for our country? For people to kill their former boyfriends/girlfriends because that person ended the relationship. This tragedy could have not been stopped by the girl having a gun with her. In fact, she might have had to face years of prison for murder and carrying a gun without a license. Sure, gun control will not eliminate violence or completely prevent criminals from obtaining guns. Criminals have their ways to go around the law but by having gun control the murders and assaults with gun will lessen. I know that everyone has rights but the 2nd amendment is misinterpreted.

The higher drinking age of 21 has saved many lives, helped reduce the amount of underage drinking, and therefore should not be lowered. Many studies from a large variety of sources have proven higher drinking ages have a positive effect on society. Alcohol is harmful to the development of younger people. CAS theory tells us management will involve the team so they will have a better understanding in what environment will be most effective. (p.71) The next error according to Johnson (2009) is assuming the employees will not reallocate work assignments based on their perception of the best arrangement even after receiving work allocation assignment from management. (p.80) reallocating work assignments, management should call a meeting with the team to decide what strategies will benefit and be successful. Ignoring the speed with which the informal organization can transmit messages and, therefore, failing to manage rumors in a productive manner. (Johnson, 2009. p.80) Management will be alert and ready to address a situation by staying in constant communication with others. Organizations engaged in effective, fast decision making use just as much information as slow decision makers but information of a different kind (Eisenhardt, 1990). The last four errors according to Johnson (2009) I am listing below in bullets and will touch on each one before concluding. Analysis Of The Opening Line Of The Bell Jar By Sylvia Plath The Girl in the Bell Jar It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs, and I didn t know what I was doing in New York (1; ch. 1), the opening line of The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, effectively sets the tone for both the life of Plath and the remainder of the novel. Plath s depression and cynical outlook on life fueled the creation of many of her poems and novels, and particularly The Bell Jar in its autobiographical fictional genre. In this way, Sylvia Plath is able to more clearly display the disillusionment of the Modernist era in The Bell Jar as she showcases the harshly conforming expectations placed on women in the 1950s and their negative consequences on the psyches of these women. Sylvia Plath was born on October 27, 1932, in Boston, Massachusetts, to German immigrant, Otto Plath and American born Aurelia Plath. Otto and Aurelia gave Sylvia Plath an early start in her venture to become an author through their own natural literary gifts and reverence for education (Critical Insights 13, 14). However, tragedy struck only nine days after Sylvia Plath s eighth birthday when her father died of an embolism of the lung, an event that greatly affected Plath and is alluded to in several of Plath s works, including The Bell Jar ( The Bell Jar 23). After Otto Plath s death, Sylvia Plath and her remaining family moved from the seaside inland to Wellesley, heavily impacting her imagination for the worse, but providing her with a far
  • 45. The Global Catch Of Shrimp Species 1.Introduction Penaeid shrimps (Family Penaeidae: Rafinesque, 1815) are the most economically important crustaceans in the world as a primitive group of decapod (Abele, 1991; Chan, 1998; Dall et al., 1990). The family has a world wide distribution in shallow, inshore tropical and subtropical waters. The highest diversity of the family members occurs in the Indo West Pacific region with about 205 species grouped into 26 genera (Farfante and Kensley, 1997; Martin and Davis, 2001; McLaughlin et al., 2005; Nizinski, 2003). The global catch of shrimp species is about 3.4 million tons /year. More than half of which are caught from the Western and Northwest Central Pacific fisheries, besides the contribution of other essential fisheries in the Indian and in the Western Atlantic Oceans (FAO, 2014). Shrimps remain to be the largest single product in value terms accounting about 15 % of the internationally traded fisheries products in 2012. Moreover, shrimps are primarily produced in developing countries, and much of this production progressively expands in the international trade. As the economic conditions develop in these countries, growing demand leads to high domestic consumption leading to fewer exports. Such high demand and the subsequent overexploitation are negatively impacting the standing stocks of shrimp which fall below the healthy standard levels. This requires regular monitoring, assessment and management of each species to keep tracking of the effects of such

To analyze and manipulate them manually is very tedious job for a person. This is where text mining and file format convertors come into light to overcome this kind of problem. Text mining has an exceptional contribution for programmers and scientists to mine data out from textual files. Text mining overlooks the redundant textual data and only targets only on the required data patterns. Text mining plays important role because its center of functioning is devising patterns into necessary format or could be said that it derives a very quality of information from text. File format conversion has always been a bridge as well as challenge to access that particular data without particular tool. Different files have protocol set like internal and
  • 47. Violent Programs on Television Lead to Aggressive Behavior... Since 1982, the National Institute of Mental Health, along with other reputable health organizations has collected data that connects media violence, with violent acts. Conclusions deduced from this data prove that violent programs on television lead to aggressive behavior by children and teenagers who watch those programs. Television violenceaffects young people of all ages, all socio economic levels, and all levels of intelligence. Today s children view vast amounts of violence on television. A steady diet of death, killings, torture, and other grotesque acts may be viewed on any day by vulnerable youth. When children are young, they are impressionable to all their surroundings, and especially vulnerable to what they see. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A particular focus of the study was the media s portrayal of violence and the public s personal experiences. Television is the primary source of media for most American citizens, and therefore television violence is the primary source for viewing violence in both adults and children. This report gave evidence of the media s ability to socialize the viewers to the norms and values of the culture. Previously the ability of television to do so had been disputed that the media was seen only as a re enforcer and not a creator. Research performed by Albert Bandura concluded there were strong short term effects of exposure to violence in the media that affects children. In his studies, children watched models perform aggressive acts against a doll. These acts of aggression were presented under three circumstances: 1. the children saw the model rewarded for aggressive behavior, 2. the children saw the model receive no consequences for their aggressive behavior, and 3. the children saw the model punished. All three groups were able to imitate the aggressive behavior that contradicts early notions that the influences of violence were not negative if the violence was not glorified. The Help or Hurt study done by Robert Liebert and Robert Baron, further displays the short term
