Exploring Biographical Knowledge Into The Daily Routine...
The focus of this study was to explore how incorporating biographical knowledge into the daily
routine and care of an individual with dementia can bring about changes in their behaviors that
impact quality of care and quality of life. This chapter assembles the major findings of the study,
considers the unique contribution to the research and practice of the care of peoplewith dementia in
a long term care setting. The implications for further research discussed as well as limitations of the
study considered.
Discussion
The study makes a unique contribution to the existing literature on biographical approaches in
dementia care. The findings suggest a positive effect of this approach for people with dementia in
long term care setting. Similar to Life Story Work, Reminiscence Therapy and Meaningful activities
this study indicates a number of benefits.
First, it promotes increased understanding of the person. It enables nursing home staff to see a
person in the context of his whole life. This in turn leads into deeper relationships. The voice of
the resident with dementia can be heard when he or she is seen as a person and not just as a
patient. The uniqueness of person s needs and values can only be understood and adequately
addressed by knowing his or hers life story. As in case of Rosemary, by learning about her life
experiences the staff were able to see not a mean and loud woman but somebody who expresses her
fear of water getting into her ears, or attachment to

The Role of Ambition in Macbeth
The role of ambition in Macbeth The Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare recounts
Macbeth s meteoric rise as a soldier and promising future leader whose megalomaniacal ambition
led to his tragic downfall. In addition to Macbeth s ambitions, which initially enable him to be
strong leader and soldier, he is influenced heavily by his wife, Lady Macbeth, and the three witches
that prophesize his ascent to the throne, as well as warn him of his eventual demise. It can be
argued that it is Macbeth s ambition that allows him to succeed in his endeavors, however the
goals to which he is working toward influence the results of his hard work. Macbeth s ambitions
help him to become a war hero, and as his goals change, his ambitions drive him to become a
tyrannical villain. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth and Banquo, Macbeth s friend and a
sergeant in King Duncans army, are hailed as heroes in helping to defeat Macdonwald who led the
allied forces of Norway and Ireland against Scotland. The Sergeant exalts Macbeth s prowess and
states,
For brave Macbeth well he deserves that name
Disdaining fortune, with his brandish d steel,
Which smoked with bloody execution,
Like valour s minion carved out his passage
Till he faced the slave;
Which ne er shook hands, nor bade farewell to him,
Till he unseam d him from the nave to the chaps,
And fix d his head upon our battlements. (Shakespeare, n.d., 1.2.35 42)
The Sergeant continues to describe the duo s valor, As

The Swatch s price strategy was clear, they sold their products at an affordable price everywhere
in the world (in the US: $40, in Switzerland: SFr50, in Germany: DM60, in Japan: Y7000). What
is more important that they didn t change their price in the first ten years despite their incredible
success. Their price strategy helped their positioning, and helped to communicate their brand
message: Swatch is not just affordable, it s approachable. Buying a Swatch is an easy decision
to make, an easy decision to live with. The Swatch was unique in its advertising strategy too.
They spent 30% of the retail price on advertising which was compared to the industry average,
was more than double. Besides the high profile advertising, they also used below the line
activities, like break dancing sponsorship, celebrity endorsement, special events, or product
placements (for example the Giant Swatch in Germany). They created a Swatch Collectors Club
for their most ardent fans, who could receive a subscription to the Swatch Street Journal magazine
which contained the latest news, information about Swatch. The Swatch s distribution strategy
was so different from the other watches . They created new approach and ways of points of
purchase. For example The Veggie Swatch line was sold in fruits and vegetable markets. They

The Importance Of Still Life Art
Food has long been a popular subject in art. For many hundreds of years, people have created
beautiful food based artworks that are cherished, even today. The consumption of food is a
shared experience as is art. I love this idea, that we can all share art. It s an opportunity to
collaborate on ideas and express our creativity and thoughtfulness and it is accessible to all
different age groups. This week I interviewed two artists that are noted for their skill in food
inspired art to discuss their artwork. These are Still lifewith silverware and lobster by Pieter
Claesz and Still Life: The Food Bowl by Ken and Julia Yonetani. Despite the fact that these
works were created four centuries apart, they share many factors and display the essence of still
life art. The aim, for me, of this interview is to identify the changes in still life art, will there be
any use of modern, emerging technologies in the more modern piece? Or maybe a 3D element?
I am thrilled to be able to shed some light on the still life genre that occupied much of my
painting. The beauty of still life painting is that it reflects so much of what is going on in the
world around it. When this painting was created in 1641, the middle class were gaining
prominence. People wanted other people to know how wealthy and cultured they were. In Still
Life with Silverware and Lobster I chose to include a range of objects that highlighted some of my
observations about the world I lived in. I wanted it to reflect

Muammar Qaddafi
The former Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi was no saint, but he served an important
function in North Africa: keeping a lid on Islamic extremism. As a pan Arabist and Nasserite,
Qaddafi was wary of, and quickly muzzled any Islamist groups that mixed religion with politics.
He also kept many of the neighboring economies afloat by direct investments and employment in
Libya s oil fields. After a NATO backed revolt in 2011 upended Qaddafi and later took his life, the
Sahel region he effectively policed has slid into militant chaos.
In November, terrorists connected to Al Qaeda stormed an upscale Malian hotel and left 21 people
dead. Earlier this month, the Islamic State (IS) allied Boko Haram group bombed two marketplaces
in Nigeria with over 50 fatalities. The US s missionary zeal to impose democracy on tribal societies
has again backfired, a story replayed across the Middle East after the so called Arab spring of 2011.
Qaddafi was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A few months later, Tunisian authorities revealed that terrorists trained in Libya carried out the
Sousse and Bardo Museum attacks that killed over 50 civilians. Still, runaway success eludes IS
in Libya. Local militias kicked the group out of Derna, an eastern city, in June and it is, at present,
only able to conduct hit and run attacks on oil fields.
The reason is there is a superabundance of armed groups in Libya, who, for the most part, are busy
fighting each other, but could potentially be harnessed to eliminate Islamic State, claims Geoff
Porter from West Point s Combating Terrorism Center. His assessment ties into US President
Barack Obama s policy on combating IS. If you do not have local populations that are committed to
pushing back against ideological extremes, then they resurface, Obama stressed at the recent G20

Literature Has Functioned Throughout History As A Means
Literature has functioned throughout history as a means of social criticism that is accessible to
the lay public. Classics like Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and Uncle Tom s Cabin by
Harriet Beecher Stowe leverage their plots to reveal alarming realities and comment on social
issues. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorneis one of the earliest examples of literary social
criticism. Hawthorne uses the plight of the main character, Hester Prynne, a convicted adulterer in a
society that severely punishes sinners, to take a stand against Puritanism and the religious
conservatism that stains the memory of his ancestors. In a similar fashion, the film Easy A, directed
by Will Gluck, confronts puritanical aspects of modern popular culture.... Show more content on

In a similar yet less overt approach, Easy A portrays religious hypocrisy through the use of
dialogue juxtaposed with music. As a result of her notoriety for allegedly losing her virginity,
Olive Penderghast incurs the wrath of the school s conservative religious group led by fellow
student Marianne Bryant. In a scene at a club meeting, Marianne complains about how Jesus
tells us to love everyone. Even the whores and the homosexuals, but it s so hard (Royal 65). As
she is making her intolerant comments, the song Oh! Let My People Go: The Song of the
Contrabands, is played in the background. The juxtaposition of a song that was historically sung
by slaves as a sign of freedom is in contradiction with Marianne s rhetoric. Subtle undertones are
used in the movie to negatively portray religion as fanatical and suppressive. Just as it can be
inferred that Hawthorne disliked the Calvinist fundamentalist version of Christianity the Puritans
practiced, it can also be inferred that the directors from liberal Hollywood dislike forms of
religious extremism. This is certainly the case in later scenes in the movie when protestors from
Marianne s club hackle Olive with signs saying OLIVE PENDERGHAST IS A WHORE (Royal
72).
Easy A includes many overt references to The Scarlet Letter, for instance Olive embraces her role as
the school skank and begins wearing provocative lingerie with a

Select One Of The Three Characteristics Of Information...
1.Select one of the three characteristics of information security (CIA) and explain its importance as
related to the development of policy, education, OR technology.
Confidentiality is one of the three characteristics of the C.I.A. model. It establishes those with
sufficient privileges and the need to access the information. Confidentiality is most related to
information privacy. It is extremely important to protect the information of employees, customers,
or patients. No matter what type of organization it is it will disclose confidential information. That
being said, all confidential information is vulnerable to accidental exposure or an intentional hack.
If an unauthorized individual or system views the information, confidentiality is breached.
Confidentiality contains several measures that are applied to protect the confidentiality of
information. These measures include information classification, sure document and data storage,
application of general security policies, education of information custodians and end users.
Confidentiality must be met in the storage, processing, and transmission of data in an organization.
For example, we are going to look at a major recent data breach. On March 8, 2017, the US
department of homeland security sent Equifax and notice to patch a vulnerability in versions of the
Apache Struts software. On March 9, Equifax dispersed the information to applicable personnel.

Researchers trust that this late knowledge will stimulate the development of better therapies
(Christensen 59). These treatments will extend and enhance the quality of living for the patients
suffering from Cystic Fibrosis.
Present day treatments cannot be productive if the patient is uninformed of their current condition.
All infants that are conceived in the United States are now tried for Cystic Fibrosis at childbirth.
This permits children to get treatment promptly. By administrating treatment from the minute the
child is conceived, it diminishes the possibility of scar tissue producing in the lungs. This is
imperative to the survival of Cystic Fibrosis patients on the grounds that once the tissue has
transformed into scar tissue it no more performs in the way that it should: supplying a sufficient
amount of oxygen to the individual. Once conceived, the infant will be given an examination
comprising of three sections, the simplest one being the sweat test. The sweat test will demonstrate
an overabundance of chloride ions due to the fact that the patients do not have the genetic material
to properly regulate the ions. Immoderate levels of salt have been the main indication of the illness
for as long as the disease has been discovered.
Analysts have found that Cystic Fibrosis happens on the long arm of chromosome 7. This data is
essential in the survival of the ill because that it helps in the researching and distributing

Effect of the Steam Engine on the Industrial Revolution
Effect of Steam Engine on Industrial Revolution The economy of England during the 18th century
was one that needed rebuilding after many years of war with other countries. A breakthrough of
new technology and ideas boosted the economy, creating a time known commonly as the Industrial
Revolution. Specifically, there was one invention that defined the Industrial Revolution. The steam
engine, a device powered by coal used to run machines at an efficient rate, was developed during the
Industrial Revolution. The invention of the steam engine had a major effect on the economy of
England during the Industrial Revolution through its use in mining, transportation, and factories.
Thomas Savory created the very first steam engine in 1698, however it was hardly used due to its
unreliability ().Savory s engine was widely advertised, however it could only be put under a certain
amount of pressure before it exploded (). Industrialist Matthew Boulton brought Watt over to
England to work with him on building his steam engine, providing him with the inventors and
equipment needed to complete the engine ().Watt moved to the center of the Industrial Revolution
in Birmingham, England, working with other inventors to build his steam engine (). Many different
industrialists were able to provide their facilities and equipment to help Watt make his steam engine
(). Boulton, partnering with Watt, was able to acquire a 25 year extension to Watt s patent, allowing
Watt to build over 500 steam

Action Potentials In A Giant Alga Lab Report
LAB #4: ACTION POTENTIALS IN A GIANT ALGAL CELL
Generating action potentials in a giant alga using mechanical stimulation, injury, or direct electrical
stimulation
Introduction The Chara coralline is a freshwater plant that lives in temperate zone ponds and lakes.
The intermodal segment is a single large cell which uses cytoplasmic streaming to distribute
organelles and nutrients throughout the cytoplasm which is surrounded by a large central vacuole.
Recording action potentials with intracellular microelectrodes is less complicated because Chara
cells are so large. Actin and myosin allow for the movement of intracellular materials. The Chara
coralline generates action potentials in response to deformation of the cell membrane. Then,
cytoplasmic streaming is halted via a signal that is spread by the action potential. Protein kinase is
activated due to the increase in internal calcium. The protein kinase phosphorylates myosin which
in turn inhibits its interaction with actin and terminates streaming. This allows a wound to heal
without leakage of the pressurized cytoplasmic contents.
The purpose of this lab is to examine the waveform characteristics of action potentials using
standard intracellular recording techniques. In the first set of experiments, students will use a glass
microelectrode to record from a giant algal cell. Then, students will generate an action potential in a
giant algal cell. If ion concentrations remain constant inside the cell, then the

Early Exploration Exploration in the region started in 1910s and was focused on Ag Co veins,
with no significant silver deposits haven been discovered in the McAra area. Copper zinc (VMS
type?) mineralized zones were discovered in Archean volcanic rocks in the southern part of
North Williams Township by Metron Explorations Limited in 1970. The mineralized zone and
surrounding area were evaluated with a HLEM survey and drilled with 2 DDHs (totaling 61.3 m)
that did not intercept significantly mineralized rocks (Willars, 1971). In 1982, perceived
Witwatersrand type gold deposit potential caused a major staking rush in the area, with exploration
focused on conglomeratic units in the Paleoproterozoic Lorrain Formation of the Cobalt Group
that forms the upper part of the Huronian Supergroup. Exploration was unsuccessful and the
claims were quickly abandoned. Mid 1980s: Falconbridge Nickel Falconbridge Nickel explored

The Use Of Glycerol Residue
ABSTRACT: The use of glycerol residue, a palm oil waste from Oleochemical industries as a
raw material for the production of succinic acid with immobilized cell fermentation process was
investigated. In this work, the raw material, immobilized cells to produced succinic acid were
characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry (FTIR) and Scanning Electron
Microscope instruments. Based on the results, the functional group appearing for treated and
commercial glycerol is the hydroxyl, aromatic methoxyl, alkenes, soap, carbonyl and alcohol
group. The hydroxyl group which is O H appeared at a spectra value of 3394.2700 cm 1for the
treated glycerol and 3299.9600 cm 1 for the commercial group. Respectively. From the analysis
of SEM for bead, it was found that majority of pores fall within range and the shapes was
ellipsoid and a thick skin around strains was detectable, therefore indicating that immobilized cell
prepared for fermnatation process is an attractive source for succinic acid applications. . Key

the thing that decides whether people are going to like it and buy it or not.
With increase in age, there is gradual loss of elasticity in almost all the muscles of the body
including muscles of eyes. This reduction in elasticity of the eye muscles lead to inability of the
person to focus on an object kept at a distance. This condition gets worse in the situation of dim

(Retchin et al., 1988).
2. There is sharp decrease in the degrees of lateral peripheral vision with age. It reduces by nearly
17 degrees in the people above 65 (Burg 1968).
Vision field loss 1. According to the data available, it is noted that the chances of developing visual
field loss in the age of 16 yrs to 60 years is nearly 3 to 3.5 % which increases to nearly 13% for the
people above 65 years of age.(Johnson and Keltner, 1983).
2. For individuals above the age of 65, the risk of development of visual field defects increase by
nearly five times than the individuals below this age. (Johnson and Keltner, 1983).
Glare/Night legibility
1. Due to degradation in quality of the lens with increasing age, the glare is impaired. Actually, the
increase in opacity of the lens leads to inability of the eyes to view objects having less contrast
especially in the dark. (Pulling et al., 1980).
2. It has been studied that inability to see anything in night for a fraction of second, also known
as temporary visual impairment, caused by the bright headlight of the coming vehicle is more
common in old people (Wolf, 1960; Pulling et al., 1980). It is also seen that the people who are
already suffering from night blindness do not show any increased risk with age. In fact, there are
chances that night vision impairment is less reported in such cases (McCloskey et al.,

How Successful Was Sweden A Feudal Country

The Success of the Swedish Empire
Sweden has not always been the small, quiet country it is today. In fact, back in the seventeenth
and eighteenth century, Sweden was a major player in power. Not only was Sweden small back
then as well, but Sweden was also poor and did not have any allies. Sweden never has been a

Sweden never being a feudal country is vital to its success. Not being feudal means that Sweden s

The And The Qur An Essay
His reference to the Qur an brings back to the moment he began establishing ethos with his stream
of metaphors that explain the ripple effect. Although, this time, he uses a more positive tone in
the sense that one good deed will lead to an infinite amount of good deeds. It s almost as if he
carefully chose this reference and purposefully delivers it 10 minutes after making the stream of
metaphors. Making a connection like that with a huge time gap is a very difficult task and requires
a lot of eloquence, something that only Barack Obamaand a few other speakers possess. Each part
of the speech includes proof and refutation. For example, when Obama brings up the issue of
Iraq, He provides the logical argument that America has the responsibilities of helping Iraq and
leaving Iraq to Iraqis. The refutation occurs when he acknowledges nine eleven and how it led
to reactions that were against traditional belief and made the promise to take troops out of Iraq
by 2012. He also makes the promise to have Guantanamo Bay closed. These promises were big
promises that received great attention. I consider the promise Obama made about bringing all
troops back from Iraq by 2012 to be one of the most impactful promises that he made as a president
because it affects nearly everyone s family and friends in the United States. The next part that is
about the issue of Palestinians and Israelis. He brings up the history and logical argument about
each side of the story but ultimately refutes

Mistakes In Sweat And The Gilded Six Bit
Everybody in their life has made mistakes, but there is a difference between the small mistakes
that people make on a daily basis, and those that can cause life altering events. In the three Zora
Neal Hurston stories, Sweat, Spunk, and The Gilded Six Bit, characters all make terrible
mistakes that affect the people that they love most. The outcomes of each story though are very
different as the characters face tough choices and deal with them in very different ways. Though
these situations deal with many of the same issues, the ability or inability for those in the stories
to forgive individuals shows their true character and values. In The Gilded Six Bits Joe and
Missie May are able to forgive one another because they both realize that their spouse isn t
perfect, but in Sweat, Delia cannot forgive Sykes as his sins run too deep. Joe and Missie May
are in a loving relationship, and they truly in love with one another. Missie May has made a mistake

If Spunk were in Joe s shoes he would have felt less guilty as he would have been the one
defending his own wife. Spunk was the one who was sleeping with Joe s wife, and Spunk knows
that he would have done the same thing that Joe did if their places were reversed. There was no
need to kill Joe, and that is why Spunk feels so guilty. Spunk acts as though he is a very tough
person and that he ain t skeered of nothin , but he has feelings too (Hurston Spunk 4). He blames
himself for the whole situation, and he cannot forgive himself. In Sweat Sykes has actually
beaten and hurt Delia for over fifteen years. Sykes has brought about his own death as Delia says
that he is going to reap his sowing (Hurston Sweat 680). Unlike Spunk Delia had a justifiable
reason to let Sykes die, and this is why she feels less guilty than

What Is The Lethal Weapon Rhetorical Techniques
Lethal Weapon is a film made by Richard Donner in 1987. It tells a story of two policemen who
become partners. Roger Murtaugh is a veteran, he has family and he is getting older. Martin
Riggs is suicidal officer who lives in a trailer with his dog. To solve the case they need to learn how
to work with one another.
Lethal Weapon is an action movie. As in almost every type of the movie viewers can follow
narration development but they become distracted by some action scenes (like blowing something
up, chasing the car etc.) and narration is suspended for a while. We can notice the same practice
for example in musicals. Action is interrupted there by singing and dancing. But what is also really
characteristic for Lethal Weapon and what we have not seen in previous movies that we watched
during course are comic elements especially in terms of language but ... Show more content on

Martin and Mr. Joshua are getting into the fist fight. This scene is absurd though it shows
development of heroes and a change that occurred in them. Murtaugh and Riggs could kill or
catch villain but instead of that Roger is letting Martin to show his power and get into the fist
fight. This scene lasts for a five minutes. After analysis we can notice many homoerotic elements.
At the beginning they are using only their fists but they become shirtless really quickly and at one
point they use phallic weapons to fight. Water is blowing up in the air and covering everyone and
everything. That brings sexual connotations as well. It is very important to take into consideration
their moves and their acts. After connecting all the elements viewers can notice that this scene is
presented in such a way to be similar to sexual foreplay and re figuration of a sexual act between
men. But this scene threatens patriarchal and heterosexual society. That is why threat of
homosexual romance needs to be removed by killing the villain even though he was defeated by

Face Uniform Gyrus Face Recognition Study
A group of scientists at the Stanford University School of Medicine in the United States discovered
that the region of the brain responsible for face recognition grows in children and adults. The
discovery surprised scientists because it was widely believed that brain development didn t involve
tissue growth in adulthood, but rather neuroplasticity. Until now, it was thought that brain
development occurred exclusively through a process called synaptic pruning a mechanism of
destruction of the synapses (connections between the neurons) that are rarely used, opening the
way for the development of stronger and more effective synapses.
A growing fusiform gyrus
This is the first time that research has found evidence that tissue in this region of the brain, called
fusiform gyrus, increases in size from childhood to adulthood. Previous research suggested that
most changes in brain tissue occurred during childhood (0 2 years) and involved either synaptic
pruning or tissue shrinkage. To make the discovery, which will force science to rethink the
anatomical development of the brain over the years, researchers recruited 22 children (aged 5 12)
and 25 adults. They were subjected to visual recognition tests of faces and places and functional
magnetic resonance and quantitative magnetic resonance imaging tests.
Functional magnetic resonance imaging was used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Hidden Oppressiveness In Marriage In The Story Of An Hour

The Hidden Oppressiveness in Marriage in The Story of an Hour Marriage is often seen as a
happy or joyful thing for when two partners are in a marital and loving relationship and want to
spend the rest of their lives with each other. However, what many people do not see is that marriage
can also be a blessing and a curse. Each partner has to give up their independence and many of
their freedoms, such personal time or space, and devote the rest of their time and life to their
spouse until death due them part. Kate Chopin indirectly hints that marriage can be oppressive no
matter how kind or loving the marriage is, in her story The Story of An Hour. In the story, Louise

Muppet Magic
February 23, 2010
The Dark Crystal Film Analysis Making its debut 1982, The Dark Crystal, created and directed by
puppeteers Jim Henson and Frank Oz, was a fantasy film that involved intricate puppeteers and
animatronics. Aside from The Muppets and Sesame Street, which involves more comedic skits to
relay their message to its viewers, The Dark Crystal was a different kind of muppet movie because
it used fantasy, fiction and action to tell its story. With this change in Jim Hensons usual way of
story telling, the fantasy aspect of the movie becomes associated with the narrative patterns and
functions of Propp. As the story line progresses throughout the film, some of the 31 ... Show more

Later in the film, both Jen and Kira arrive at the Castle of the Crystal but is encountered by
Chamberlain again. This is significant because although Chamberlain attempts to deceive them
again, he ends up capturing Kira, forcing Jen and Chamberlain to join in direct combat ,
exhibiting the sixteenth function of Propp. This demonstrates an aspect of one of the struggles a
hero has to face in his or her journey. As Jen attempts to rescue Kira, he finds the location of the
dark crystal , bring him one step closer in achieving his quest. The final challenge is presented
when Jen is on top of the dark crystal and after a failed attempt, resulting in the death of Kira, Jen
succeeds in the end by uniting the shard with the dark crystal fulfilling the prophecy and restoring
the planet to its previous state. Thus showing the final function of Propp: resolution of the task. All
these functions create the structure of Henson s fantasy movie and helps tell a story that keeps its
viewers wanting to know what is going to happen next. With Henson using these narrative patterns
and intricately designed puppets to tell a story to children, it provides a change from laughter and
comedy to something filled with excitement and suspense. In doing so, it gives children a chance
to enter a different dimension and maximize their ability to imagine. Fairytales and fantasies have
existed to tell children s stories because of their ability to bring a child

The World Trade Organization s Agenda And Implementation...
INTRODUCTION Dating back to 1949, the World Trade Organization was preceded by the
General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. The primary purpose of the General Agreement on
Tariffs and Trade was to reduce tariffs and other barriers to trade, as well as to eliminate
preferences in order for trade to be mutually advantageous. Currently, the General Agreement on
Tariffs and Tradeis still in effect under the World Trade Organization
, which was established to
facilitate international trade, economic growth and development. However, the goals of the World
Trade Organization have been called into question. Although the intergovernmental organization
was established in order to aid developing states to succeed into developed states, the World Trade
Organization has been criticized for widening the social gap between the Global North and South.
The World Trade Organization s agenda and implementation of its agreements have all served to
advance the interests of developed states, sidelining the interests of developing states. What is
increasingly more alarming is the fact that three fourths of the members within the World Trade
Organization compromise of developing states. This paper will aim to analyze the various ways in
which the World Trade Organization has marginalized and allowed for the exploitation of
developing states. Through examining the consequences of foreign direct investment, the dispute
settlement process, tariff escalation and the TRIPS agreement, this paper will

Admiral Mcraven s 10 Lessons Commencement Speech
Every day, thousands of speeches are given. Some of those speeches are long and drawn out while
others are created in the heat of the moment. But, regardless of its content, there is a huge
difference between a run of the mill speech and a great one. That difference being its relevance,
memorability, and honesty. Admiral William H. McRaven accomplished each of those components
in his 10 lessons commencement speechgiven at the University of Texas at Austin in 2014. During
his speech, Admiral McRaven detailed his time in basic SEAL training and referenced the 10 life
lessons that he learned from it. He then ends the speech with a call to action that is met with a
tremendous ovation from the crowd. With that reaction, it was clear that... Show more content on

As he spoke, the Admiral made time to humanize himself with humor and not be seen as just
another hardened military official. From his sugar cookie reference to showing off his UT pride,
his transparency with the crowd was on full display. By doing this, he was able to speak open and
honestly about his experiences and while reminding the crowd, once again, that he is one of them.
His style of speaking was the perfect complement to his speech topic and made him a trustworthy
source of advice for the young audience. In conclusion, Admiral McRaven s speech had all of the
factors needed to be considered great. From beginning to end, McRaven was able to capture the
audience s attention while delivering a powerful message that can be applied to any listener s life.
The reason for that being the case is that as humans, we all have challenges that we must
overcome. Even though many people possess the ability to do so, most are often defeated by their
own mind and thus never truly reach their full potential. But, after hearing a speech such as this, it

In such transactions ownership of goods is transferred to a finance company at a discounted price,
and the company hires out and then sells those goods to the buyer.
A hire purchase agreement is defined in the Hire Purchase Act, 1972 as peculiar kind of transaction
in which the goods are let on hire with an option to the hirer to purchase them, with the following
stipulations:
a. Payments to be made in installments over a specified period.
b. The possession is delivered to the hirer at the time of entering into the contract.
c. The property in goods passes to the hirer on payment of the last installment.
d. Each installment is treated as hire charges so that if default is made in payment of any
installment, the seller becomes entitled to take away the goods, and
e. The hirer/ purchase is free to return the goods without being required to pay any further
installments falling due after the return.
Hire purchase should be distinguished from instalment sale wherein property passes to the

IRC В§ 721, which dictates transfer of property to partnership, is comparable to В§351 except it
does not have an 80% or more ownership constraint, you could own 1% of partnership interest the
transfer would still be tax free. In addition, basis rules are like corporate rules upon transfer. The
similarity ends from this point forward, in cases where property is subject to liability, the partner
would adjust its basis in the partnership. Gain, if triggered due to partner s liability decrease,
termed deemed distribution, recognition of this gain could be circumvented by adjusting the
transferor s outside basis, hence no recognition of gain either by the partnership or the partner. In
case of liquidating or non liquidating distribution interplay of sections in partnership law avoids the
recognition of gain, and in both cases basis is adjusted instead. Gain is only triggered when the
transferor sells property received in both liquidating and non liquidating scenarios.

Acehnese Genocide Research Paper
The Acehnese people experienced a history of attempted colonization and occupation, first from the
Dutch, then the Japanese, it was not until the Indonesian people united was the idea of
independence recognized. However, for the Acehnese people unification was only the means to
achieve impendence and they intended to be an autonomous region separate from that of Indonesia.
That dream was unfortunately not realized as the Indonesian government of Jakarta had other
ideas, and wished to pursue centralization towards a unified state. In order to appease the Acehnese
people the region was granted somewhat of a special region status until the 1950s when it was
officially incorporated into the North Sumatra province. Much of the Aceh history is filled with
violence and tension and despite some governmental change the region still experiences a greater
amount of tension and conflict than other areas within Indonesia. When the subject of the matter is
internal conflicts, identifying key causes of the conflict is difficult when not knowing all the facts.
For many other observers, including those from the Government of Indonesia (GOI), the conflict
arises due to particular grievances in Acehnese society about economic, human rights, religious and

The Blind Side Michael Oher Analysis
In the film The Blind Side, directed by John Lee Hancock, one important character that changes
throughout the film is Michael Oher. John Lee Hancock delivers an important message that you
don t have to be blood to be family, and that with love and support you can overcome obstacles.
John Lee Hancock shows the audience that this is true and that the love and support of a family
can change a whole person s life, as we get to see the changes to Michael Ohers life. John Lee
Hancock used the film techniques of close ups, over the shoulder and reverse angle shots, and
dialogue to show how Michael Oher changes.
Michael Oher is an important character in the film, The Blind Side. Throughout the film this
important character changes because of the love and support he gets from a family. At the
beginning of the film we see Michael Oher as a big black boy, who s homeless, is uneducated, he s
poor, unwanted, quiet, shy and has no confidence. One freezing, wet night he has nowhere to go.
Leigh Anne Tuohy, a white, wealthy, well dressed, confident, happily married mother, finds him
on the road and invites him home with her and her family. This is when Michael Oher begins to
change. Leigh Anne Touhy gives him a bedroom, home, food, clothes, education and a future.
Most importantly, she give him love, and a family. Michael Oher changes when he gets a new
family, and he is able to overcome obstacles with hard work, and the love and support from his
new family. The message that it delivers is that you don t have to be blood to be family. At the
end of the film, the director shows Michael Oher as the opposite person of who he was at the
beginning of the film. We see that Michael Oher gets offered scholarships by many universities
because he learns how to play football, and by the hard work and determination he became a pro at
it and therefore becomes a football star.
Michael Oher changes through the movie. He changes through the messages that John Lee
Hancock delivers that you don t have to be blood to be family, and that with love and support of a
family, you can overcome obstacles. Just because he was black, huge and athletic, he was judged.

Compare And Contrast The Traditional Model Of Public...
Over the recent decades, the public sectors of the countries have implemented considerable reforms
in response to the challenges of technological progress and global changes. These wide public

Summary Of The Sound And The Fury And Absalom
In Faulkner s works, both the land and the people of the South struggle under the monumental
weight of myth and history. In fact, certain calamity looms over his fictional region of
Yoknahpatwah, a microcosm of the postbellum South. Themes of the Southern consciousness, such
as inescapable past and present, inherited guilt, and emotional and psychological stagnation pervade
this fictional region. In The Sound and the Fury (1929) and Absalom, Absalom! (1936), Faulkner s
portrayal of two Southern aristocratic families, the Compsons and the Sutpens, reveal Southerners
paradoxical attitudes towards the myths of the South: the refusal to forget the past and the inability

Time is a vital component in understanding Faulkner s treatment of the Southern history. Faulkner
s characters all experience frustration with past. In Faulkner s novels, time is a function of
history in which a complete engagement of tension between history and myth occurs. If
historical time is a progression of change that extends into and shapes the present, mythic time
produces a sense of stasis and circularity in which one feels stuck. The conflict between history
and myth arises from Faulkner s personal experience as a Southerner; like many Southerners of
his time, Faulkner was searching for a lost time while struggling to reconcile with the
questionable past of his region. In his interviews, Faulkner made clear the presentness that the
past (particularly the Civil War) had for him. In a class conference held at the University of
Virginia in 1957, he said no man is himself, he is the sum of his past. There is no such thing
really as was because the past is (129). When asked in 1958 about the Civil War veterans he knew
as a boy, Faulkner related that:
They didn t talk so much about that war. I had got that from the maiden, spinster aunts which had
never surrendered. But I can remember the old men, and they would get out the old shabby gray
uniforms and get out the old battle flag on Decoration, Memorial Day. Yes, I remember any number
of them. (Howe 249)
In this quote, Faulkner expresses an ambivalent feeling towards

Comparing The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe
Four siblings: Lucy, Peter, Susan and Edmund Pevensie are all sent to a faraway house to be safe
from the conflicts of World War II. They each step through a wardrobe they discovered and out
into the new world of Narnia a land tyrannized and ruled by the vicious White Witch. Right before
almost all hope is lost, the Great Lion Aslan returns, bringing with him a new found sense of hope
and change. But with great victory, comes great sacrifice.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobebelongs to the fantasy genre. This is shown through the use
of supernatural characters, the setting of a different world, and the character s struggle against evil
and heroism.
A unique characteristic of the fantasy genre is the fact that the story takes place in ... Show more

Many times, the heroes are ordinary people that do not know of their power or importance until
they are called upon to perform heroic feats. In support of this, an ancient prophecy is revealed
to the Pevensies, Down Cair Paravel there are four thrones and it s a saying in Narnia time out of
mind that when two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve sit in those four thrones, then it will
be the end not only of the White Witch s reign, but of her life. (Lewis 89). The four brothers and
sisters enter Narnia unknowing of the prophecy made about them a long time ago. The
Pevensies do not know of their importance until they enter Narnia. If not for accidentally
discovering the wardrobe and it s secrets, the children would not have fulfilled their prophecy. In
addition to the importance of heroes, usually the major plot of the storyline is trying to resolve
the conflicts of good versus evil. As a result of this constant struggle a battle occurs, for example,
The battle was all over a few minutes after their arrival. Most of the enemy had been killed in the
first charge of Aslan and his companions, and when those who were still living saw that the witch
was dead they either gave themselves up or took to flight. (Lewis 195). This final battle between
good and evil was the climax in the story, as it determined who would

Davidian Compound
On February 28, 1993, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms launched a raid on the
Davidian Compound just outside of Waco, Texas, not knowing that it would lead to a 51 day
standoff, the compound burning to the ground, and the loss of many lives, including four ATF
agents. The Branch Davidians are a religious group that resulted from a breakoff in the Davidian
Seventh day Adventist Church in 1955. As the group gained members, the leaders decided to move
the church just outside of Waco, Texas, to a place they named Mount Carmel, after a mountain in
Israel mentioned in Joshua 19:26. Their leader at the time, Florence Houteff, then prophesied that
the Second Coming of Jesus was approaching, and ordered the members to stay at the center...

However, while the siege was over, it was not forgotten. On April 19, 1995, two years after the
fire that killed so many people, Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols planted a bomb that killed
168 people, injured more than 680 people, and whose blast destroyed or damaged 324 buildings
within a sixteen block radius of Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Motivated by his hatred of the government and the outrage he felt about the Waco Siege in 1993,
McVeigh decided to time his attack for the second anniversary of the deadly fire. Forensic
evidence linked both men to the attack. On June 11, 2001, McVeigh was executed by lethal
injection and Nichols was sentenced to life in prison in 2004. The Oklahoma City Bombing was
the worst terrorist attack on United States soil until September 11, 2001. The siege at Waco will
forever be remembered not only in the history books, but also by the families of the four ATF
agents that were killed. Thanks to the bravery and sacrifice of
those four men, the FBI has developed new, improved tactics of dealing with hostage situations,
many of which have saved

Summary Of The Dangerous Myths Of Grade Inflation
When it comes to the issues of education and the many different opinions on how education should
be ran; the finger always seems to be pointed at the students. It is the students fault that grade
inflation exists. It is the students fault that there is a lack of effort in the classroom. Think about it
though, are the flaws that occur in educationreally our fault? Maybe, maybe not. It is important that
everyone (educators, students, parents, and administrators), understand both sides to what is really
going on and the issues occurring in the academe world. An ongoing issue in the classroom is the
students lack of effort. Both teachers and parents often complain about students being rather torpid.
Is this really the students fault? Is it even the teacher s fault? On the student s side, they do not want
to be there. Us students are at schoola little over ten... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Does grade inflation actually exist? In the reading The Dangerous Myths of Grade Inflation by
Alfie Kohn, he gives plenty examples as to why grade inflation does not exist, Kohn also backs
up his examples with studies that have shown that there is no way to prove grade inflation
exists. However, even where grades are higher now as compared with then, that does not
constitute proof that they are inflate, this was stated in Alfie Kohn s reading. Although studies
have there there is not a way to prove grade inflation exists, there have been teachers and
professors that have admitted to using grade inflation. In class we watched a video called
Declining By Degrees: Higher Education at Risk that interviewed college professors that admitted
to participating in grade inflation. The reason behind this, is to save the teacher s job, or so
students continue to take their classes, or because they do not want to be known as a mean teacher.
It is possible that grade inflation exists but it is hard to find evidence to support

Semihazah Watchers
In the Book of Enoch, the Watchers are the fallen angels, also referred to as the Sons of God,
who have sinned by giving false revelations and engaging into sexual relations with females. The
Watchers therefore, crossed the boundaries between the sacred and the profane, causing the
creation of the giants, Nephilim. The leaders of the Watchers who lead them into sins are
Semihazah and Azazel. Azazel was the leader of the improper revelations, of showing and telling
the wrong teachings. This is a sin because it is the providence of Godto deliver revelations, not the
job of the fallen angels. This is critical because the false revelations would make it difficult for
God s followers to follow the right path to remaining pure. Semihaza was the... Show more content

Qumran was a settlement inhabited by the Essenes. The Essenes were a strict, isolationist,
Judaism group that believed themselves to be the right group and all other groups were wrong.
This resulted in their isolation from other groups because they were unsuccessful in convincing
other groups to live by their standards. The Essenes expected that the end was near. The
Hasmoneans can be viewed as Jewish terrorists or freedom fighters that wanted to establish a
Jewish state. They were successful in overthrowing Greek rule and establishing a Jewish state.
The Hasmoneans also claimed king and priestly roles. However, kings were only supposed to be
from the line of David and priestly roles were only to be fulfilled from the lineage of Zadok.
Therefore, the Hasmonean rule was breaking covenant rules because its rulers did not abide by
the proper lineages. The Teacher of Righteousness, who served as the official mediator of
revelation, taught that what the Hasmoneans were doing was wrong and that it would lead to
the end. The Essenes viewed themselves as the Sons of Light, representing the community and
goodness. They viewed all outsiders as the Sons of Darkness because they were believed to be
evil and demonic. The Sons of Darkness were other Jews who did not follow the same rules of the
Qumran community as well as the Romans. The Dead Sea Scrolls differ in the apocalyptic view

Uniform Trade Secret Case
1) Calculating the price of winning bidder must pay. Would you seek patent protection, trade secret
protection, or both? What problems might you face in attempting to secure patent or trade secret
rights, and what advantage.
Trade secret regulation, unlike patent, copyright, and trademark law is an existence of state
common law, progressively regularized by adoption of the Uniform Trade Secret Act by state
legislatures and enactment by the Congress of the Electronic Theft (Riley, 2008). There is likely
for competitive advantage when someone has discovered or developed an original product or
business process, but innovation is not an independent requirement. Likewise, proof of asset in
development of a trade secret supports the twin implications ... Show more content on

Thus, if the case is handled by the jury, they are likely to find out that the former programmers had
misappropriated trade secrets, which they were using in their own products, and that they had
violated the restrictive covenants in their employment agreement. The court is likely not to prevent
the sale of the infringing software program.
4) Washington applies and that Washington has adopted the UTSA without modification, present an
argument that the competitor should be liable for trade secret misappropriation.
A trade secret loses its secret status if a competitor of the owner knows about it. Thus, the public
as a whole need not know about trade secret for it to cease being secret. For instance, if Coca Cola
formula is known to its competitors, the formula would lose its secret under the law, even if the
competitor did not disclose it to the public at large.
A person who engages in criminal conduct in order to take a trade secret will be found to have
engaged in improper means. For example, fraud, trespass, theft, bribery, and breaking and entering
building (Bundy et al, 2008). By the same symbol, the fact that trade secret misappropriation is a
crime in a given state does not mean that a defendant s improper means need constitute criminal

In The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fist Fight In Heaven
No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his
religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love
comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite. Unfortunately Native Americans have
deep roots with racism and oppression during the last 500 years. In The Lone Rangerand Tonto Fist
Fight in Heaven, Sherman Alexie tries to show racism in many ways in multiple of his short
stories. These stories, engage our history from a Native American viewpoint. Many Native
Americans were brutally forced out of their homes and onto Reservations that lacked resources.
Later, Indian children were taken from their families and placed into school that were designed to,
Kill the Indian, save the man. In the book there are multiple short story that are pieces that form a
larger puzzle that shows the struggles and their effects on Native Americans. Sherman Alexie shows
the many sides of racism, unfair justice and extermination policies and how imagination is key for
Native American survival.
Sherman Alexie show how non Native Americans treat Native Americans in court and day to day
life.
In the story of The Trial of Thomas Builds the Fire Thomas is charged for crimes that he did not
commit and yet he was still sentenced to two consecutive lifetime sentences Mr. Builds the Fire,
you do admit, willingly, that you murdered two soldiers in cold blood and with premeditation? .

  • 2. Exploring Biographical Knowledge Into The Daily Routine... The focus of this study was to explore how incorporating biographical knowledge into the daily routine and care of an individual with dementia can bring about changes in their behaviors that impact quality of care and quality of life. This chapter assembles the major findings of the study, considers the unique contribution to the research and practice of the care of peoplewith dementia in a long term care setting. The implications for further research discussed as well as limitations of the study considered. Discussion The study makes a unique contribution to the existing literature on biographical approaches in dementia care. The findings suggest a positive effect of this approach for people with dementia in long term care setting. Similar to Life Story Work, Reminiscence Therapy and Meaningful activities this study indicates a number of benefits. First, it promotes increased understanding of the person. It enables nursing home staff to see a person in the context of his whole life. This in turn leads into deeper relationships. The voice of the resident with dementia can be heard when he or she is seen as a person and not just as a patient. The uniqueness of person s needs and values can only be understood and adequately addressed by knowing his or hers life story. As in case of Rosemary, by learning about her life experiences the staff were able to see not a mean and loud woman but somebody who expresses her fear of water getting into her ears, or attachment to ... • 3. The Role of Ambition in Macbeth The role of ambition in Macbeth The Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare recounts Macbeth s meteoric rise as a soldier and promising future leader whose megalomaniacal ambition led to his tragic downfall. In addition to Macbeth s ambitions, which initially enable him to be strong leader and soldier, he is influenced heavily by his wife, Lady Macbeth, and the three witches that prophesize his ascent to the throne, as well as warn him of his eventual demise. It can be argued that it is Macbeth s ambition that allows him to succeed in his endeavors, however the goals to which he is working toward influence the results of his hard work. Macbeth s ambitions help him to become a war hero, and as his goals change, his ambitions drive him to become a tyrannical villain. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth and Banquo, Macbeth s friend and a sergeant in King Duncans army, are hailed as heroes in helping to defeat Macdonwald who led the allied forces of Norway and Ireland against Scotland. The Sergeant exalts Macbeth s prowess and states, For brave Macbeth well he deserves that name Disdaining fortune, with his brandish d steel, Which smoked with bloody execution, Like valour s minion carved out his passage Till he faced the slave; Which ne er shook hands, nor bade farewell to him, Till he unseam d him from the nave to the chaps, And fix d his head upon our battlements. The Swatch s price strategy was clear, they sold their products at an affordable price everywhere in the world (in the US: $40, in Switzerland: SFr50, in Germany: DM60, in Japan: Y7000). What is more important that they didn t change their price in the first ten years despite their incredible success. Their price strategy helped their positioning, and helped to communicate their brand message: Swatch is not just affordable, it s approachable. Buying a Swatch is an easy decision to make, an easy decision to live with. The Swatch was unique in its advertising strategy too. They spent 30% of the retail price on advertising which was compared to the industry average, was more than double. Besides the high profile advertising, they also used below the line activities, like break dancing sponsorship, celebrity endorsement, special events, or product placements (for example the Giant Swatch in Germany). They created a Swatch Collectors Club for their most ardent fans, who could receive a subscription to the Swatch Street Journal magazine which contained the latest news, information about Swatch. The Swatch s distribution strategy was so different from the other watches . They created new approach and ways of points of purchase. For example The Veggie Swatch line was sold in fruits and vegetable markets. They didn t sell Swatches in jewelry displays like the others; they preferred ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of Still Life Art Food has long been a popular subject in art. For many hundreds of years, people have created beautiful food based artworks that are cherished, even today. The consumption of food is a shared experience as is art. I love this idea, that we can all share art. It s an opportunity to collaborate on ideas and express our creativity and thoughtfulness and it is accessible to all different age groups. This week I interviewed two artists that are noted for their skill in food inspired art to discuss their artwork. These are Still lifewith silverware and lobster by Pieter Claesz and Still Life: The Food Bowl by Ken and Julia Yonetani. Despite the fact that these works were created four centuries apart, they share many factors and display the essence of still life art. The aim, for me, of this interview is to identify the changes in still life art, will there be any use of modern, emerging technologies in the more modern piece? Or maybe a 3D element? I am thrilled to be able to shed some light on the still life genre that occupied much of my painting. The beauty of still life painting is that it reflects so much of what is going on in the world around it. When this painting was created in 1641, the middle class were gaining prominence. People wanted other people to know how wealthy and cultured they were. In Still Life with Silverware and Lobster I chose to include a range of objects that highlighted some of my observations about the world I lived in. I wanted it to reflect ... • 6. Muammar Qaddafi The former Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi was no saint, but he served an important function in North Africa: keeping a lid on Islamic extremism. As a pan Arabist and Nasserite, Qaddafi was wary of, and quickly muzzled any Islamist groups that mixed religion with politics. He also kept many of the neighboring economies afloat by direct investments and employment in Libya s oil fields. After a NATO backed revolt in 2011 upended Qaddafi and later took his life, the Sahel region he effectively policed has slid into militant chaos. In November, terrorists connected to Al Qaeda stormed an upscale Malian hotel and left 21 people dead. Earlier this month, the Islamic State (IS) allied Boko Haram group bombed two marketplaces in Nigeria with over 50 fatalities. The US s missionary zeal to impose democracy on tribal societies has again backfired, a story replayed across the Middle East after the so called Arab spring of 2011. Qaddafi was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A few months later, Tunisian authorities revealed that terrorists trained in Libya carried out the Sousse and Bardo Museum attacks that killed over 50 civilians. Still, runaway success eludes IS in Libya. Local militias kicked the group out of Derna, an eastern city, in June and it is, at present, only able to conduct hit and run attacks on oil fields. The reason is there is a superabundance of armed groups in Libya, who, for the most part, are busy fighting each other, but could potentially be harnessed to eliminate Islamic State, claims Geoff Porter from West Point s Combating Terrorism Center. His assessment ties into US President Barack Obama s policy on combating IS. If you do not have local populations that are committed to pushing back against ideological extremes, then they resurface, Obama stressed at the recent G20 meeting in ... • 7. Literature Has Functioned Throughout History As A Means Literature has functioned throughout history as a means of social criticism that is accessible to the lay public. Classics like Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and Uncle Tom s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe leverage their plots to reveal alarming realities and comment on social issues. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorneis one of the earliest examples of literary social criticism. Hawthorne uses the plight of the main character, Hester Prynne, a convicted adulterer in a society that severely punishes sinners, to take a stand against Puritanism and the religious conservatism that stains the memory of his ancestors. In a similar fashion, the film Easy A, directed by Will Gluck, confronts puritanical aspects of modern popular culture.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a similar yet less overt approach, Easy A portrays religious hypocrisy through the use of dialogue juxtaposed with music. As a result of her notoriety for allegedly losing her virginity, Olive Penderghast incurs the wrath of the school s conservative religious group led by fellow student Marianne Bryant. In a scene at a club meeting, Marianne complains about how Jesus tells us to love everyone. Even the whores and the homosexuals, but it s so hard (Royal 65). As she is making her intolerant comments, the song Oh! Let My People Go: The Song of the Contrabands, is played in the background. The juxtaposition of a song that was historically sung by slaves as a sign of freedom is in contradiction with Marianne s rhetoric. Subtle undertones are used in the movie to negatively portray religion as fanatical and suppressive. Just as it can be inferred that Hawthorne disliked the Calvinist fundamentalist version of Christianity the Puritans practiced, it can also be inferred that the directors from liberal Hollywood dislike forms of religious extremism. This is certainly the case in later scenes in the movie when protestors from Marianne s club hackle Olive with signs saying OLIVE PENDERGHAST IS A WHORE (Royal 72). Easy A includes many overt references to The Scarlet Letter, for instance Olive embraces her role as the school skank and begins wearing provocative lingerie with a ... • 8. Select One Of The Three Characteristics Of Information... 1.Select one of the three characteristics of information security (CIA) and explain its importance as related to the development of policy, education, OR technology. Confidentiality is one of the three characteristics of the C.I.A. model. It establishes those with sufficient privileges and the need to access the information. Confidentiality is most related to information privacy. It is extremely important to protect the information of employees, customers, or patients. No matter what type of organization it is it will disclose confidential information. That being said, all confidential information is vulnerable to accidental exposure or an intentional hack. If an unauthorized individual or system views the information, confidentiality is breached. Confidentiality contains several measures that are applied to protect the confidentiality of information. These measures include information classification, sure document and data storage, application of general security policies, education of information custodians and end users. Confidentiality must be met in the storage, processing, and transmission of data in an organization. For example, we are going to look at a major recent data breach. On March 8, 2017, the US department of homeland security sent Equifax and notice to patch a vulnerability in versions of the Apache Struts software. On March 9, Equifax dispersed the information to applicable personnel. Although told to apply the patch, Equifax security team did not find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Researchers trust that this late knowledge will stimulate the development of better therapies (Christensen 59). These treatments will extend and enhance the quality of living for the patients suffering from Cystic Fibrosis. Present day treatments cannot be productive if the patient is uninformed of their current condition. All infants that are conceived in the United States are now tried for Cystic Fibrosis at childbirth. This permits children to get treatment promptly. By administrating treatment from the minute the child is conceived, it diminishes the possibility of scar tissue producing in the lungs. This is imperative to the survival of Cystic Fibrosis patients on the grounds that once the tissue has transformed into scar tissue it no more performs in the way that it should: supplying a sufficient amount of oxygen to the individual. Once conceived, the infant will be given an examination comprising of three sections, the simplest one being the sweat test. The sweat test will demonstrate an overabundance of chloride ions due to the fact that the patients do not have the genetic material to properly regulate the ions. Immoderate levels of salt have been the main indication of the illness for as long as the disease has been discovered. Analysts have found that Cystic Fibrosis happens on the long arm of chromosome 7. This data is essential in the survival of the ill because that it helps in the researching and distributing ... • 11. Effect of the Steam Engine on the Industrial Revolution Effect of Steam Engine on Industrial Revolution The economy of England during the 18th century was one that needed rebuilding after many years of war with other countries. A breakthrough of new technology and ideas boosted the economy, creating a time known commonly as the Industrial Revolution. Specifically, there was one invention that defined the Industrial Revolution. The steam engine, a device powered by coal used to run machines at an efficient rate, was developed during the Industrial Revolution. The invention of the steam engine had a major effect on the economy of England during the Industrial Revolution through its use in mining, transportation, and factories. Thomas Savory created the very first steam engine in 1698, however it was hardly used due to its unreliability ().Savory s engine was widely advertised, however it could only be put under a certain amount of pressure before it exploded (). Industrialist Matthew Boulton brought Watt over to England to work with him on building his steam engine, providing him with the inventors and equipment needed to complete the engine ().Watt moved to the center of the Industrial Revolution in Birmingham, England, working with other inventors to build his steam engine (). Many different industrialists were able to provide their facilities and equipment to help Watt make his steam engine (). • 12. Action Potentials In A Giant Alga Lab Report LAB #4: ACTION POTENTIALS IN A GIANT ALGAL CELL Generating action potentials in a giant alga using mechanical stimulation, injury, or direct electrical stimulation Introduction The Chara coralline is a freshwater plant that lives in temperate zone ponds and lakes. The intermodal segment is a single large cell which uses cytoplasmic streaming to distribute organelles and nutrients throughout the cytoplasm which is surrounded by a large central vacuole. Recording action potentials with intracellular microelectrodes is less complicated because Chara cells are so large. Actin and myosin allow for the movement of intracellular materials. The Chara coralline generates action potentials in response to deformation of the cell membrane. Then, cytoplasmic streaming is halted via a signal that is spread by the action potential. Protein kinase is activated due to the increase in internal calcium. The protein kinase phosphorylates myosin which in turn inhibits its interaction with actin and terminates streaming. This allows a wound to heal without leakage of the pressurized cytoplasmic contents. The purpose of this lab is to examine the waveform characteristics of action potentials using standard intracellular recording techniques. In the first set of experiments, students will use a glass microelectrode to record from a giant algal cell. Then, students will generate an action potential in a giant algal cell. If ion concentrations remain constant inside the cell, then the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The exploration history of the McAra property provided here was compiled from Randall (2007), Robinson (2006), Anonymous (2003), Anderson (2005), and Pringle (2016). 1910 1982: Early Exploration Exploration in the region started in 1910s and was focused on Ag Co veins, with no significant silver deposits haven been discovered in the McAra area. Copper zinc (VMS type?) mineralized zones were discovered in Archean volcanic rocks in the southern part of North Williams Township by Metron Explorations Limited in 1970. The mineralized zone and surrounding area were evaluated with a HLEM survey and drilled with 2 DDHs (totaling 61.3 m) that did not intercept significantly mineralized rocks (Willars, 1971). In 1982, perceived Witwatersrand type gold deposit potential caused a major staking rush in the area, with exploration focused on conglomeratic units in the Paleoproterozoic Lorrain Formation of the Cobalt Group that forms the upper part of the Huronian Supergroup. Exploration was unsuccessful and the claims were quickly abandoned. Mid 1980s: Falconbridge Nickel Falconbridge Nickel explored for base metal VMS deposits in the mid 1980s in the nearby Sheard, Browning and Amyot townships. The highest amplitude conductors interpreted from airborne data were evaluated with ground geophysical surveys and drill tested with poor results. 1996 1997: Roy Annett Roy Annett discovered the rusty zones 400 m (Annett #2) and 500 m (Annett #1) to the northeast of McAra Lake in 1996. The Use Of Glycerol Residue ABSTRACT: The use of glycerol residue, a palm oil waste from Oleochemical industries as a raw material for the production of succinic acid with immobilized cell fermentation process was investigated. In this work, the raw material, immobilized cells to produced succinic acid were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscope instruments. Based on the results, the functional group appearing for treated and commercial glycerol is the hydroxyl, aromatic methoxyl, alkenes, soap, carbonyl and alcohol group. The hydroxyl group which is O H appeared at a spectra value of 3394.2700 cm 1for the treated glycerol and 3299.9600 cm 1 for the commercial group. Respectively. From the analysis of SEM for bead, it was found that majority of pores fall within range and the shapes was ellipsoid and a thick skin around strains was detectable, therefore indicating that immobilized cell prepared for fermnatation process is an attractive source for succinic acid applications. . Key words: succinic acid, immobilized cell, glycerol residue, characterization 1. INTRODUCTION Over the last decade, succinic acid have been attracted a great deal of world attention with its excellent organic compound and key compound in producing more than 30 commercially important product which lead to many promising applications. Resource Based View VISUAL CONSIDERATIONS Visual considerations should be given prior importance while designing an automobile as it has direct effects on its design and design is supposed to be a very crucial factor as undoubtedly it is the thing that decides whether people are going to like it and buy it or not. With increase in age, there is gradual loss of elasticity in almost all the muscles of the body including muscles of eyes. This reduction in elasticity of the eye muscles lead to inability of the person to focus on an object kept at a distance. This condition gets worse in the situation of dim light or excess light. (Retchin et al., 1988). 2. There is sharp decrease in the degrees of lateral peripheral vision with age. It reduces by nearly 17 degrees in the people above 65 (Burg 1968). Vision field loss 1. According to the data available, it is noted that the chances of developing visual field loss in the age of 16 yrs to 60 years is nearly 3 to 3.5 % which increases to nearly 13% for the people above 65 years of age.(Johnson and Keltner, 1983). 2. For individuals above the age of 65, the risk of development of visual field defects increase by nearly five times than the individuals below this age. (Johnson and Keltner, 1983). Glare/Night legibility 1. Due to degradation in quality of the lens with increasing age, the glare is impaired. Actually, the increase in opacity of the lens leads to inability of the eyes to view objects having less contrast especially in the dark. (Pulling et al., 1980). 2. It has been studied that inability to see anything in night for a fraction of second, also known as temporary visual impairment, caused by the bright headlight of the coming vehicle is more common in old people (Wolf, 1960; Pulling et al., 1980). It is also seen that the people who are already suffering from night blindness do not show any increased risk with age. How Successful Was Sweden A Feudal Country Nick Didio Mr. Jankowski World Civilizations 8 May 2015 The Success of the Swedish Empire Sweden has not always been the small, quiet country it is today. In fact, back in the seventeenth and eighteenth century, Sweden was a major player in power. Not only was Sweden small back then as well, but Sweden was also poor and did not have any allies. Sweden never has been a feudal country, which is key. Sweden also relied heavily on its generals, militaristic strategies, and natural resources in order to succeed. Although, this time, he uses a more positive tone in the sense that one good deed will lead to an infinite amount of good deeds. It s almost as if he carefully chose this reference and purposefully delivers it 10 minutes after making the stream of metaphors. Making a connection like that with a huge time gap is a very difficult task and requires a lot of eloquence, something that only Barack Obamaand a few other speakers possess. Each part of the speech includes proof and refutation. For example, when Obama brings up the issue of Iraq, He provides the logical argument that America has the responsibilities of helping Iraq and leaving Iraq to Iraqis. The refutation occurs when he acknowledges nine eleven and how it led to reactions that were against traditional belief and made the promise to take troops out of Iraq by 2012. He also makes the promise to have Guantanamo Bay closed. These promises were big promises that received great attention. I consider the promise Obama made about bringing all troops back from Iraq by 2012 to be one of the most impactful promises that he made as a president because it affects nearly everyone s family and friends in the United States. • 27. Face Uniform Gyrus Face Recognition Study A group of scientists at the Stanford University School of Medicine in the United States discovered that the region of the brain responsible for face recognition grows in children and adults. The discovery surprised scientists because it was widely believed that brain development didn t involve tissue growth in adulthood, but rather neuroplasticity. Until now, it was thought that brain development occurred exclusively through a process called synaptic pruning a mechanism of destruction of the synapses (connections between the neurons) that are rarely used, opening the way for the development of stronger and more effective synapses. A growing fusiform gyrus This is the first time that research has found evidence that tissue in this region of the brain, called fusiform gyrus, increases in size from childhood to adulthood. Previous research suggested that most changes in brain tissue occurred during childhood (0 2 years) and involved either synaptic pruning or tissue shrinkage. To make the discovery, which will force science to rethink the anatomical development of the brain over the years, researchers recruited 22 children (aged 5 12) and 25 adults. Aside from The Muppets and Sesame Street, which involves more comedic skits to relay their message to its viewers, The Dark Crystal was a different kind of muppet movie because it used fantasy, fiction and action to tell its story. With this change in Jim Hensons usual way of story telling, the fantasy aspect of the movie becomes associated with the narrative patterns and functions of Propp. As the story line progresses throughout the film, some of the 31 ... As Jen attempts to rescue Kira, he finds the location of the dark crystal , bring him one step closer in achieving his quest. • 43. Summary Of The Sound And The Fury And Absalom In Faulkner s works, both the land and the people of the South struggle under the monumental weight of myth and history. In fact, certain calamity looms over his fictional region of Yoknahpatwah, a microcosm of the postbellum South. Themes of the Southern consciousness, such as inescapable past and present, inherited guilt, and emotional and psychological stagnation pervade this fictional region. In The Sound and the Fury (1929) and Absalom, Absalom! (1936), Faulkner s portrayal of two Southern aristocratic families, the Compsons and the Sutpens, reveal Southerners paradoxical attitudes towards the myths of the South: the refusal to forget the past and the inability to live in the present. Problem of Historical Time Time is a vital component in understanding Faulkner s treatment of the Southern history. Faulkner s characters all experience frustration with past. In Faulkner s novels, time is a function of history in which a complete engagement of tension between history and myth occurs. If historical time is a progression of change that extends into and shapes the present, mythic time produces a sense of stasis and circularity in which one feels stuck. The conflict between history and myth arises from Faulkner s personal experience as a Southerner; like many Southerners of his time, Faulkner was searching for a lost time while struggling to reconcile with the questionable past of his region. In his interviews, Faulkner made clear the presentness that the past (particularly the Civil War) had for him. In a class conference held at the University of Virginia in 1957, he said no man is himself, he is the sum of his past. There is no such thing really as was because the past is (129). When asked in 1958 about the Civil War veterans he knew as a boy, Faulkner related that: They didn t talk so much about that war. I had got that from the maiden, spinster aunts which had never surrendered. But I can remember the old men, and they would get out the old shabby gray uniforms and get out the old battle flag on Decoration, Memorial Day. Yes, I remember any number of them.
