• Theory :
• Elixirs are clear liquid oral preparation of potent
drugs like (antibiotics , antihistaminics , sedatives
etc ) on unpalatable drugs . They are pleasantly
flavored and usually attractly colored . Paracetamol
elixir have active paracetamol as analgesic (
reducing pain ) and antipyretic ( reducing
temperature in fever ), that can also be used to
releive the system of influenza fever and cold.
• Requirements :
• Apparatus : Mortar , Pestle , Beaker
• Chemicals : Paracetamol , Glycerol , Propylene
Glycol , Sorbital Solution 10 %.
• Procedure :
Dissolve paracetamol in a mixture of alcohol , Propylene glycol ,
Glycerin , Sorbital Solution 10 %.
Add sufficient amount of purified water to produce the final volume
up to 10 ml.
• Category : Antipyretic and Analgesic
• Storage : Store in a cool and dark place in well closed container
with neat label protected rom sunlight.
• Result : ---------ml of paracetaml elixir I.P. preparation was
submtted in well closed amber colored container with neat label.
