1. Whose Reality Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Whose Reality" can be a challenging yet intellectually
stimulating task. This theme delves into the complex nature of perception, subjectivity, and the
varied ways individuals construct and interpret their reality. To effectively tackle this subject,
one must navigate through the philosophical, psychological, and sociological dimensions that
shape our understanding of what is real and true.
The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between theory and practical examples.
One must grapple with abstract concepts while grounding the essay in real-life scenarios to make
it relatable and engaging. Addressing the philosophical aspects requires a deep exploration of
existentialism, relativism, and the nature of truth, demanding a thoughtful analysis that goes
beyond surface-level understanding.
Furthermore, the essay must consider the social and cultural contexts that influence our
perception of reality. This involves examining how societal norms, cultural backgrounds, and
personal experiences contribute to the construction of individual realities. Navigating these
intricate layers demands a nuanced approach, ensuring that the essay captures the
multidimensional nature of the topic.
Crafting a coherent argument and maintaining a logical flow throughout the essay is another
challenge. Connecting various perspectives, presenting counterarguments, and synthesizing
information into a cohesive narrative requires analytical and critical thinking skills. The essay
must provide a balanced exploration of different viewpoints while presenting a clear stance or
thesis.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Whose Reality" involves grappling with abstract concepts,
exploring philosophical dimensions, and navigating the complexities of societal influences on
individual perception. It requires a thoughtful blend of theory and real-world examples,
challenging the writer to delve deep into the intricacies of human consciousness and the
construction of reality. While challenging, successfully tackling this topic can lead to a rich and
insightful essay.

2. The Relationship Between Troilus And Criseyde
The relationship between Troilus and Criseyde in Geoffrey Chaucer s adaptation
of their tragic love story notably hinges on the perception of Troilus s manhod. The
interpretation of Troilus as a feminized male character, and the consequent view
that he was not manly enough to keep Criseyde as his lover, exemplifies the
importance Chaucer places on gender roles in the poem. Troilus s passive nature, as
a result of his lovesickness, led to his failure to obey the normative masculine
patterns of behavior. His lack of action is ultimately the reason why his relationship
with Criseyde fails. While we know the tragic ending to their story is inevitable,
Chaucer s Troilus and Criseydepresents gender as a central cause for its ending. In the
first portrait of Troilus, Chaucer presents us with a manly young knight at ease with
his respectable and authoritative position:
This Troilus, as he was wont to gide
His yonge knyghtes, lad hem up and down
In thilke large temple on every side,
Beholding ay the ladies of the town,
Now here, now there; for no devocioun
Hadde he to non, to reven hym his reste,
But gan to preise and lakken whom hym leste (I. 183 189)
Troilus is represented here as a strong leader. He guides the knights through the
temple and gazes at the ladies of the town as he pleases. He mocks the other knights
who foolishly fall in love; Troilus is above that type of behavior. After the God of
Love shoots him with his arrow, Troilus becomes smitten with Criseyde in one
3. The Level Of Concentration Is High
With my research I found that the level of concentration is high enough to suggest
that some markets within the construction industry can be considered oligopolistic. It
is important to remember that the market structure is only one characteristic of
various factors which affects the performance of firms concerned. My research found
that within the Materials and components grouping 13/24 markets are oligopolistic. 2
/9 is oligopolistic within the Professional consultancy, 2/11 within Plant and
equipment and 6/10 in the Energy and supplies group. This helps me to conclude my
thoughts in that the level of concentration is high enough to suggest that some
markets within the construction industry can be considered oligopolistic.
Commercial confidentiality has been a factor in my research as it has prevented me
from gaining full access and data required to fully investigate the matter at hand.
Therefore some information for certain groupings has been withheld to prevent
commercially sensitive data collected by the ONS to be made available to
competitors. When this occurs, it is usually a taken as the market being fairly
concentrated. There are some obvious irregularities such as Agriculture which is
listed as not available regardless of the fact that it is included within the list of 10
least concentrated sectors. Within the Materials and components group, concrete and
stone products are seen to be the largest single sector which is supplying materials to
construction.

House only takes cases of interest in pursuit not for wealth or fame, but for his

years of constant bullying and loneliness because of everyone s jealousy due to

5. Should Government Restrict Civil Liberties
According to our textbook By the People: Debating American Government on page
114, civil liberties are the limits on government so that people can freely exercise
their rights. The textbook also states that when governments enforce civil rights for
some people, they often limit the liberty of others. In other words, when rightsare
protected for certain people, the rights of other people are constrained. This is
basically saying that a person has rights until that person s rights restrict someone
else s rights. An example would be if a citizen has contracted Ebola. That person
would be quarantined, thus, restricting their rights for the protection of the public so
the disease would not spread. Another illustration is in the case of a... Show more

If the government has proof or evidence of individuals who have a disease or
infection which creates a potential public health risk, then the government should
be able to deny certain civil liberties to an individual. In the case of the aid workers
returning from Africa during the Ebola scare in 2014, the government had the right
to quarantine those workers. The workers had been working in Africa with
exposure to Ebola patients. These workers needed to be quarantined in order to stop
potential spread of the deadly virus because the exposure rate was so significant. The
workers knew they were being exposed to Ebola when they went to work with the
patients and thus, should have expected
6. The Penitent Magdalene Analysis
Artemisia Gentileschi is unarguably a key player in the acceptance of women
artists in a previously male dominated field. She was the first female member of
the Academia del Disegno also known as the Academy of Design. This was a high
honor for a woman of her day. Overcoming many hardships in her relationships, and
even drawing inspiration from them, she became known for the excellence and the
unique way she portrayed popular subjects in her artwork. Contemporary art critics
have taken notice of her genius and talent in paving roads in an exclusively male
field, and for the feminist perspective she had that was ahead of her time. Artemisia
was born on July 8, 1593 to Orazio Gentileschi and Prudentia Montone. (Bio.com)

Here in Florence she encountered the Tuscan style of painting and completed her
work The Penitent Magdalene in 1620. Her subject, Mary Magdalene, who is
portrayed in this painting as a wealthy woman of Artemisia s time, is a character
from the New Testament of the Bible. There is not many details of her life that are
known, but what we do know is that she was a prostitute, who changed her ways
when she met Jesus. This painting is called The Penitent Magdalene, but it could
instead be called The Conversion of Magdalene, because this painting seems to
capture the moment she decided to change her life around. While she was in
Florence, Artemisia had many wealthy families commission her to create artwork
for them, and many think that the Medici family commissioned her for this
particular painting. (Koen, Lisa) It is obvious by Magdalene s expensive dress and
exposed shoulders that she is a fallen woman . Her posture also shows her penitence,
and the jar of ointment in the bottom right hand corner is a signature attribute of
Magdalene. Artemisia s skill with her medium is apparent is the rich texture of
Magdalen s garment, and in the contrast between her and the background. There are
a few theories as to why Artemisia would choose to depict Mary Magdalene. Mary
Garrard in her book Artemisia Gentileschi Around 1622: The Shaping and Reshaping
of an Artist s Identity (2001) has proposed the following about how Artemisia might
have connected with this particular biblical character:
Both Artemisia and Mary Magdalene were stigmatized as sexually promiscuous in
both cases on trumped up evidence and both had reputations as sinful women ...One
can imagine that she might have identified both with her troubled character s desire
to escape the confinement of luxury she found restrictive, and stifling, and, perhaps,
with the Magdalene s yearning to move onto a higher spiritual plane. (Garrard, Mary

pros and cons of each choice must be considered before a decision can be made.
First, Betty must decide whether to operate her new business as part of a franchise

staff with any training needed. Other potential benefits from operating as a franchise
include a proven recipe for success and access to financing if needed (Wilmington

saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned (ESV, Bible). We should
always take opportunities to spread the gospel and teach others about our Lord.

11. Capitalism And Capitalism
In the first chapter of his book Capitalism and Freedom, Nobel Prize winning
economist Milton Friedman discusses several ideas such as the intimate and by no
means unilateral correlation between politics and economics, the inefficiency of
collectivism and central planning, and the essential role of economic freedom and
capitalismin achieving political freedom (8). What all these ideas have in common,
though, is that economic freedom precedes political freedom and, as a result, the
latter depends on the implementation and survival of a capitalist economy. In
addition, the author believes that in order to avoid concentration of power and
therefore guarantee freedom, there must be a separation between political and
economic power. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, a free market and thus capitalism are necessary media to satisfy one
s demands. But having purchasing power and this so called economic freedom does
not always translate into political freedom; instead, since according to Friedman,
economic and political freedom are directly proportional, one might also assume that
the more economic power an individual or an entity has, the more political freedom
they can exercise. In other words, not everyone has the same political freedom, since,
in a capitalist economy, freedom depends on economic power contrary to the rosy
picture Friedman presents.
Although Friedman recognizes that the existence of a free market does not eliminate
the need for government and that government is crucial to determine the rules of the
game, he believes in minimal government intervention in the market (15). In his
fierce defense of capitalism s autonomy, Friedman claims that there can be many
millionaires in one large economy, but only a small amount of political power to be
distributed (16). Therefore, if economic power is in the hands of the government,
concentration seems inevitable (16). But, as we now know, the government should
be responsible for more than determining the rules of the game ; the East Asian crisis,
which had a butterfly effect in all globalized economies around the world, and other
economic catastrophes, have taught us how essential it is to have an organized
government that oversees the market and the

HOW CLAY BRICKS ARE MADE
INTRODUCTION
Clay bricks are used in a wide range of buildings from housing to factories, and in the
construction of tunnels, waterways, bridges etc. Their properties vary according to
the purpose for which they are intended, but clays have provided the basic material of
construction for centuries. Brick is the oldest manufactured building material, and
much of its history is lost in antiquity. The oldest burnt or fired bricks have been
found on the sites of the ancient cities of Babylonia, some of which are estimated to
be about 6000 years old. Brick is, after all, virtually indestructible. The industry
developed on traditional lines, using hand making processes for the most part. ...

Water can be added here or if it is a dry pan the clay is reduced to dust and water
added later. Further crushing takes place through conveyor rollers reducing the clay
particles to about 1 2mm.
FORMING THE BRICK SHAPE
Most bricks are formed by one of two basic processes.
Extrusion
The clay body is mixed to a fairly stiff texture and is then loaded into an extruder
where a worm screw pushes it along a barrel into a vacuum chamber which
compresses it through a taper and out through a die. The die is machined to a
precise size and shape larger than the finished size of the brick, calculating how
much the clay will shrink during the drying and firing process. The clay emerges
as a continuous brick shaped column. Initially this is smooth but it can be modified
by removing a thin sliver from the top and sides using a taught wire to produce a
wiredrag effect or by placing textured rollers over the column to create a rusticated
effect or even by blasting the column with sand. The clay column is then cut into
single bricks and palletised ready for the dryers or in some factories, are loaded
directly onto kiln cars. Extruded bricks are generally perforated and can be solid but
cannot be frogged.

13. Family Themes In Huckleberry Finn
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Theme: Family Mark Twain s The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a classical novel that contains numerous themes
and ideas. Alongside the themes of freedom, race, rules, religion, and deceit lies
the most important theme throughout the entire story; family. Throughout the
novel, Huckleberry Finn battles with whether or not family supports and builds
you up or if it orders you around and tears down your ambitions. One quote that
perfectly describes this concept was spoken by Aishwarya Rai Bachan who stated
that, my family is my strength and my weakness. (Bachan 1). Family is a theme
that constantly emerges in Huckleberry Finn, one that is constantly getting re
defined: from the Shepherdson and Grangerford feud, to Huck living with Miss
Watson and Widow Douglas, to Huck discovering a father figure in Jim. The
Shepherdson and Grangerford feud altered Huck s perspective about the definition
of family. Huck s first interaction with the Grangerfords gives him the impression
that Widow Douglas assessment of the Col. and his family were correct. The
Grangerfords were kind, caring, wealthy and well respected. They are very
hospitable towards Huck. Despite owning hundreds of slaves and servants the
Grangerfords are practically a perfect family, especially for this time period.
However, when Buck talks about the feud it changes his perspective. Well, says
Buck, a feud is this way: A man has a quarrel with another man, and kills him; then

Emotional Knowledge is Key to Investment Success
Understanding emotions and how we process information to make decisions is vital
to investment success. This is true whether you manage your own portfolio or
whether you have hired a professional portfolio manager to handle the task. The sad
reality is that most professional money managers don t understand that their
emotional judgements are likely harmful to portfolio performance. Professional
money managers are at the mercy of the investor s behavioral biases without even

The fermentation that occurs during the making of good silage focuses on the
conversion of carbohydrates from the plants anaerobically converted into lactic
acid. This is an incredibly simple process brought on by the homolactic
Lactobacillus bacteria as the carbohydrates such as glucose as converted into 2
molecules of pyruvate by glycolysis, which is then converted into 2 molecules of
lactic acid; creating ATP and involving both the reduction of NAD+ for use in
glycolysis, but then also the oxidation of NADH to regenerate more NAD+ (Morton
J S, 1980). However, secondary fermentation can be taken by the Clostridia bacteria
if the pH does not increase fast enough, which convert the produced lactic acid into
butyric acid, increasing the pH but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two loosely packed silage s also indicated an increased production of Clostridia
behaviour as the pH was slightly higher from the conversion of lactate to butyrate,
caused specifically by Saccharolytic Clostridia (Muck R E 1988), and the high
levels of Ammonia Nitrogen due to the Clostridia consuming the amino acids and
proteins and producing ammonia as the waste product. This data suggests that this

percentage in the silage of the immature and mature loosely packed kikuyu is also
the most varied from the grass CP (0.7% difference for the immature, 0.2% for the
mature), further indicating the Clostridia growth as the Proteolytic Clostridia (Muck

fermentation, and therefore there is less protein available for the ruminants to digest
and absorb (Rasby R, Martin J, n.d). Although the two loosely packed silage s had a
low butyric acid percentage, the other factors indicated that this was the poorest
silage when applying it to real scenarios; the high ammonia and poor nutritional value
makes this silage disastrous to feed to

Abstract
Since the 1980 s scientists have been altering crops, including some of the food we
eat (Fairly Gaskins, 2000). Genetically modified food has always been a concern for
many people. I find the concerns to be unwarranted because there has never been a
negative health report due to the fact of consuming GM foods. Biotechnology gives
us the best means for solving the world s food shortage now and in the future.
Genetically modified crop plants are now grown on nearly 150 million acres in the
United States alone, helping farmers to increase yields, reduce pesticide spraying,
and save ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No effects have been shown and GM foods will continue to be regulated in more and
more countries (World Health Organization, 2002). GM crops are never expected to
present a health risk and therefore should reassure government officials worldwide in
the use of this technology.
Another concern of GM technology is the effect it has on the environment. The
environmental risks of biotechnology are also unidentified just like the health
trepidations. No scientific evidence proves that GM crops are harmful to the
environment. U.S. officials pointed out that scientists in Europe had been unable to
find any evidence of added risk to human health or the environment from any GM
crop variety developed to date. In fact, none of the studies by Europe found any
scientific evidence of added harm to humans or the environment (Paarlberg, 2003).
GM engineering will actually help the environment rather than harm it. In the U.S.
alone farmers annually administer more than nine hundred seventy million tons of
insect and plant killers. Now GM crops have the ability of containing their own
insect and plant killing gene which means the farmers can use fewer chemicals
(Tyson, 2001). To ensure that the environment is remaining safe, risk assessments are
conducted for the GM product as well as the area in which the crop will grow (World
Health Organization, 2002). Furthermore, the United Nations
Environment Program has used funding for developing countries to
20. Kaluza Klein Theory and Higher Dimensions
Kaluza Klein Theory and Higher Dimensions I. Introduction Human civilization has
always been characterized by our ceaseless curiosity and awe for what we do not
comprehend. Our wonder for what lies beyond the scope of our daily lives has been
the driving force for innovation and advancement. The intensity of our fascination for
what lie beyond is consummately personified in the late astrologer and philosopher
Giordano Bruno(1548 1600). Captivated by gazing into the night sky, Bruno dreamed
of a homogenous universe(reference to phy 312) with a multitude suns with earth
like planets rotating about them just like our own solar system. Publicly hailed a
heretic, Bruno was rejected from scientific and religious communities alike. Even
after being excommunicated by three different churches and denounced at Oxford
University, Bruno held on tight to his beliefs. His ideas would eventually lead him to
the stake where he was burned to death on charges of heresy and opposing the
catholic faith. Bruno s death served as indispensable sacrifice for modern day
cosmology and our scientific community. It ultimately marked the beginning of
humanity s questioning of whether our world is actually what tradition tells us.
Whether if it was Einstein questioning Newton s long held laws of motions or Bohr
questioning Einstein s beliefs on quantum mechanics, history has repeatedly shown
that curiosity about what we do not know is integral towards the advancement of
science. In Bruno s

In 1795, the Directory was busy with the war in western and southern Germany
and had sent most of the French forces their to launch an offensive. The leaders of
the Directory believed that Italy was something of a sideshow (Roberts 78) and
gave Bonaparte command of some troops to fight in Italy. It was Bonaparte s first
military campaign at age of 26 against Austrians and their allies the Italians.
Unfortunately, when he arrived in Nice to command his troops, they were in a
horrible condition. The weather was frigid and the men had no overcoats, no shoes,
or clothes stolen from dead enemies. Unpaid and starving Napoleon had a daunting
task to win over the troops who were muttering about mutiny (Roberts 78). Firing
inefficient officers and
22. Pride And Prejudice Social Landscape Essay
In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen carefully depicts the social landscape of England
during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Seemingly mirroring this social
landscape is the physical landscape of the English countryside. In a pivotal scene in
which the novel s protagonist, Elizabeth Bennet, ventures to the home of her future
husband, Austen uses the natural landscape to show how Elizabeth, born of the
landed gentry class but with no financial stability, physically ascends to the location
of Mr. Darcy, her love interest and a wealthy gentleman. Yet, the natural landscape is
just as much tied to Elizabeth as it is to the role of society, used to characterize her
as strong willed and individualistic. Thus, the thesis of this paper is,... Show more

Bennet makes it [t]he business of her life [...] to get her daughters married (Pride and
Prejudice 1.1 (3)). Austen uses the word business to emphasize how, more than
anything, marriage is an economic institution meant to guarantee that Mrs. Bennet s
daughters not die of starvation. Austen then uses the rest of the novel to track the
Bennet sisters and their ability to find financial security through the ascension of
social classes via marriage. This ascension is ultimately epitomized by the novel s
protagonist, Elizabeth Bennet, who rises from her family s (relatively) low station to
become the wife of the wealthy Mr. Darcy.
The landscape of England itself seems to mirror that ascension. When Elizabeth first
visits Mr. Darcy, one of the main turning points in the novel, she is forced to travel
from low elevation to high elevation, foreshadowing her rise in status through
marriage: [Elizabeth and the Gardiners] entered [the park leading to Pemberley] in
one of its lowest points, and drove for some time through a beautiful wood, stretching
over a wide extent (Pride and Prejudice 3.1 (185)). Here, Elizabeth is marked as
having entered the park at one of its lowest points , signifying her family s relatively
modest income, particularly in comparison to Mr. Darcy s. Ultimately, [t]hey
gradually ascended for half a mile, and then found themselves at the top of a
considerable eminence, where the wood ceased, and the
23. War I And Sick Of War
According to William Tecumseh Sherman, he is tired and sick of war. It is only
those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the
wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell. This
statement is self explanatory; the nature of war is reckless. Yes, when experiencing
war, some soldiers may come across gratifying sounds of larks, song birds, which
remind them of ebullient moments. Nevertheless, is brutally fighting really worth
that? Roughly ten million soldiers lost their lives in World War I, along with seven
million civilians; also, many soldiers experienced shell shock, which is a
psychological disturbance caused by war. As a result of the heinous and atrocious
experiences that many were put through, this inspired many poets to record their
remembrances. Although war may bring memories of happiness because of the
pleasing sounds, war should be considered a crime regardless of how necessary or
justified it seems because war leads to mental anguish due to the memories of
physical pain, soldiers being frightened because of unexpected occurrences and
ferocious deaths.
In the poem Mental Cases by Wilfred Owen, Owen describes in stark detail the
ghastly physical symptoms and memories that led to long lasting mental torment. A
few months before Owen was killed in action in 1918, he wrote this poem that
appears to draw heavily on his own experience of being a mental case at
Craiglockhart War Hospital in Edinburgh where
24. Dogs And Cats Need Training
Dogs and cats need training and they provide communication and health benefits to
their companions.
First, cats are adaptable to their surroundings. They know how to problem solve.
Training them can be difficult because of their independence and they have a hard
time following through on what they are told to do. Cats are lap pets. They enjoy
sitting around and snuggling up to their companions. They love playing with a ball
or strings. Cats love to show that they have conquered and devoured a predator by
leaving their prey on the door step. When our family owned a cat she was so special.
We named her Star and her name fitted her in everything she did. Our screen door
latch was broken and it would no longer lock the screen door. Star learned by
herself how to jump from the chair on the porch to the latch on the door and the
door would pop open and Star would walk in the house. Imagine how we felt when
she first did this trick.
Second, cats communicate through body language such as fearful, aggressive,
and relaxed. It is during these times they are communicating their surroundings.
They become fearful when they are in the presence of unfamiliar faces which
cause hissing or they will arch their backs. My cat Star was a very spoiled cat and
even though our dog and cat grew up together Star owned the yard by the way she
walked around it and she dared Pudding to misbehave or else the claws would come
out. There was a few times Pudding became sick and

or she s vengeance. The characters of The Count of Monte Cristo did not know there
would even be vengeance to be taken until Dantes, the main character, shows up after
many years. That is when all the trouble and malevolence happens. This novel written
by Alexander Dumas is about a man whom gets wrongfully thrown in jail and, after

The English book translation was published by Geo Pierce in January 1846. The
book is with fictional characters, but the events are based on a prisoner scientist
named Deodat de Dolomieu. GoodReads rates it a 4.5 out of 5 stars, while a
similar book due to the scandalous plots in it named Les Liaisons Dangereuses, is

was inspired by The Count of Monte Cristo. The part that was inspired by the novel
was the revenge plot that leads to love. The Guardian exclaims, Monte Cristo is the

26. Puerto Rican And The American Education System
To Puerto Rican students aged 6 to 18 in 1898 until 1915, an average school day was
quite different from what you might expect. When the United States gained control of
the island in 1898, they intended to colonize and integrate them into American
society. One of their methods was to implement the American educational system,
therefore teaching the younger generation English instead of Spanish, and teaching
them American values. I m sure that those who were taught during that era
remember the green and yellow, or navy blue, uniforms, the average one to two mile
walk to school, as well as the teachers in starched, white blouses trying to get
everyone organized in a language no one truly knew.1 Pleese form a lain.

country thousands of miles away, a country they most likely never set foot on. After
the Pledge of Allegiance, they d sing the following ditty:
Puerto Rico is a beautiful island
It belongs to the United States
Our children speak English and Spanish
And salute our flag every day.2
Imagine how different your school life would have been if every high school class

that many young Puerto Rican children and teenagers faced after the United

29. Vulnerability to Internet Predators
Vulnerability to Internet Predator
The publicity about online predators that prey on naive and inexperienced young
children using trickery and violence is largely inaccurate. Internet sex crimes
involving adults and juveniles more often fit a model of statutory rape which is adult
offenders who meet, develop relationships with, and openly seduce underage
teenagers than a model of forcible sexual assault or pedophilic child molesting
(Wolak et. al., 2008). However, prepubescent children are even less vulnerable
because their internet use is generally more supervised by the parents and guardian.
In addition, they use the internet less for communication and are for developmental
reasons, less interested in sex and relationships than ... Show more content on

Children who do not have a lot of activities outside of school tend to be online
longer and at the same times of day compared to those children who have lots of
activities because predators have little chance to groom a child for future
exploitation if that child is rarely online or is online at various times of the day.
These children would be the easiest target for the predators because they
unconsciously open the space and opportunity to be attacked by predators.
Furthermore, the children who have instant message accounts are easy target to
predators because the predators know that while emails are saved automatically and
have to be manually deleted, instant messages tend to evaporate into the ether once
the instant message window is closed. Usually, the children with tendency to speak to
strangers are likely to become the predator victims. Lonely, sheltered and naГЇve
children would become the target because predators seek to develop a relationship
with their targets, often posing as children or teenagers themselves, and then use that
relationship to initiate sexual discussion and activity or lure the child into an offline
meeting. Children from a single parent family, having trouble at school or with the
law, or has been experimenting with drugs, alcohol or sexual activity would also
become the targeted victims of online predator.
In addition, nowadays it become commonly for the internet users including the

Kenya is one of the most corrupt countries in the world due to a long legacy of
corrupt leaders according to the recent transparency international standings(145

presence. Corruption is a problem that is engulfed everywhere around the globe, in
some countries more than others and it was not until a few years ago that the
international donor community recognized corruption as one of the main
responsibilities for the failure of development in Africa .Corruption hinders
economic development and gradually slows down the democratic process and
stability within a political system. The money gained out from corruption does not
trickle down to the people nor is it used to make any development, instead is it
used for private gain and to fund luxurious living. Corruption in Africa can be seen
as both systemic and generalized, systemic since it is more of a rule than an
exception and generalized since it is not limited to just one sector. There are three
types of corruption that are found in a society, but will only mention two of them.
The first type of corruption is described as grand corruption: which is corruption
acts done by the political elite. They use their powers to gain private themselves, it is
known as the worst form of corruption as it s responsible for destroying communities
at large. The second type of corruption is bureaucratic corruption, also known as petty
corruption. In this

I had been out of the hospital for two weeks. I was staying on track with my

Estaria
Within the early chapters of The Starthorn Tree, authored by Kate Forsyth, Lady
Lisandre Ziv Estaria is portrayed as a vain, yet somewhat audacious stricken youth,
that displays little concept of life outside the walls of the Castle of Estelliana.
Lisandre assumes an attitude of superiority towards those of the heathen, believing
them to be inferior to those of her kindred. Throughout the preliminary stages of the
novel, Lisandre constantly reasserts her status. Shortly after taking refuse at Pedrin
and Durrik s campsite, accompanied by her mistress Briony, Lisandre proceeds to
degrade Pedrin using the terms sirrah , goatboy and imbecilic oaf , as well as
describing him as peasantry . Following this incident, Lisandre attempts to intimidate
Pedrin through promising to have him whipped, before being promptly reminded by
Briony that there is nobody to conduct the punishment. When inquired by Durrik
regarding the purpose of her journey and she reveals her intentions of seeking the
Erlrune, she states she is not afraid, for she is one of the Ziv. This reinforces the
impression the reader has of Lisandre s knowledge regarding life outside the castle
walls, believing her title grants her protection. Despite all this, Lisandre displays a
certain audacity, which initially drew Briony to her. This is demonstrated in the way
in which she continually defied Lord Zavion when we first meet Lisandre and in her
intent to brave the dangers of the Perilous Forest in order to perhaps

go into people s houses and garages are because of the cold weather, rainy downfall,
and because of floods. The rodents go up to the houses in order to get warm and

Lou Ann shows Taylor that the relationship is good which she means both

Taylor expresses the feeling that she dislikes the idea Lou Ann and her act like a

to Lou Ann makes Taylor scared. In other words, Taylor s real problem is a fear of
attachment. However, Lou Ann proves to Taylor that relationship is helpful and
good. Together, the two friends make a safe and happy home for themselves and
their children. They both can share the feelings, talk, laugh and get drunk together.
In short, their conversations actually make them feel better and understand each
other more. Moreover, the two ladies support and help each other through good and
bad times such as taking turn to cook and take care of the children. Also, Taylor
helps Lou Ann become more independently, gain more confident and self reliance,
begin to express opinions aloud, speak up and feel less inclined to bow to the
opinions of others. In return, Lou Ann helps and protects Taylor when she faces
difficult situations. In chapter twelve Into The terrible Night, after the incident

35. Ratification Of An Amendment Essay
The Constitution is the framework of America s government as well as the supreme
law of the United States. It was written and signed during the Philadelphia
Convention on September 17, 1787. In the Constitution there are various amendments
that outline the powers and duties of the government, the state s rights, and the rights
of the people, and the process of amending and ratifying the document (Sidlow,
Henschen 26). Even though there have been new laws issued by the government,
they have failed to be successfully passed as an amendment. Proposing and ratifying
an amendment is not an easy or short process. The difficulty of amending the
Constitutionis due to the various steps before the ratification of an amendment. It is
important to understand the process of amending the Constitution in order to fully
understand the level of difficulty of the procedure. One of the main reason that there
are only a few amendments is due to Article V, where the framers made the formal
amendment process (Sidlow, Henschen 45). There are two methods in proposing an
amendment and two methods for ratifying an amendment. For proposing an... Show

37. Community Mental Health Movement Of The United States
Community Mental Health Movement
For many years, people who suffered with mental illness were more often than not
institutionalized and severely mistreated. The history of the Mental Health movement
begins in 1909. The history of advocacy began with Clifford W. Beers. Beers,
himself an ex psychiatric patient who, after his release, crusaded to bring mental
health and mental illness to the attention of his fellow citizens (Pols). In 1908, Beers
published his autobiography, A Mind That Found Itself, which roused the nation to
the plight of people with mental illnesses and set a reform movement into motion
(Our History). Beers advocacy for the mentally ill was just the beginning for what
would be the development of several new policies and programs that to this day
continue to develop.
On February 19, 1909 Beers, along with philosopher William James and psychiatrist
Adolf Meyer, embraced that future by creating the National Committee for Mental
Hygiene, later the National Mental Health Association and what we know today as
the Mental Health America ( Our History). The year 1921 marked the beginning of the
child guidance movement. Its goal was to prevent juvenile delinquency through

38. Harriet Tubman A Hero Essay
Imagine over 500 innocent people getting put into slavery and never being able to go
outside and live a regular life. Harriet Tubman was victim of slavery so she knew
how it was like. She was a slave in Maryland and she later escaped in 1849. She then
decided she would free others too. Harriet Tubman qualifies as a hero because she
freed many slaves, worked for the union army during the civil war and was brave.
Harriet Tubman is considered a hero when she helped free slaves. She led them
through the Underground Railroad since she knew the all the routes well. The
Underground Railroad was a transport that would help slaves escape to freedom and
it was certainly secretive. Each stop would go to a safe house (Math.buffalo.edu).

A reward of $300 was posted for both Harriet and her two brothers by the Cambridge
Democrat (Biography.com). Not only that happened, but also in 1850, the Fugitive
Slave Law was passed. The law was that if you were an escaped slave and was
caught, you would get sent back to slavery (Math.buffalo.edu). Not to mention that
before she accomplished all the things she did, she had a severe injury that affected
her whole life. In her early years she was hit by a 2 pound weight, which caused her
to have severe headaches and narcolepsy (nwhm.org). Even though all these things
happened, mostly everything she did lead to success.
Because she was an abolitionist, had other jobs doing good things, and nothing
stopping her from doing anything, Harriet Tubman sets a heroic example. Harriet
wasn t necessitated to free slaves or work for the Union Army, she decided to do that
on her own. Harriet always had a job to do and every job she had basically helped
someone else in some kind of way. In 2016, The U.S Treasury announced that
Harriet Tubman will soon appear on the $20 bill replacing Andrew Jackson. Thanks
to her, many people were able to live their lives free and well. We also now know
what it is to fight for what we think is

40. Life, Death, and the Political Issues Surrounding Abortion
Life, Death, and the Political
issues surrounding Abortion
Few issues have embodied such controversy as abortion has. The various people
involved in the abortion debate not only have strong beliefs, but each group has a
self appeal that clearly reflects what they believe to be the essential issues. The
abortion supporters see individual choice as central to the debate: If a woman cannot
choose to terminate an unwanted pregnancy, a condition which affects her body and
possibly her entire life, then she has lost one of her most basic human rights. These
issues of abortion believe that while a fetus is a potential life, its life cannot be
placed on the same level with that of a woman. On the other side, the anti abortionist

The argument over abortion has avoided the real issue facing today s woman, her
need to grow beyond stereotypes. Whenever an individual or group realizes it has
been treated unjustly, the first reaction is anger, but often the anger is firs
expressed as aggression. People outgrowing oppression have so much built up
inside, so many memories of powerlessness, and so little knowledge of how to
make themselves be heard. Violence towards others usually end up as the result.
American men and women are among the most fair minded, but have slowly
begun to feel that 4,000 abortions a day is enough. The abortion mentality has
encouraged women to think of themselves as victims. Much emphasis is placed on
pregnancy as a result of rape, even though the statistics show only about .1% of all
rapes actually resulting in conception. That means that a large majority of
pregnancies that resulted in abortion were the result of free choice. The
assumption is that a woman does not have control over her own body until after a
male partner is finished with it. Why is that? Where is their sense of pride? Maybe
they re just looking at responsibilities as well as rights, and choosing instead of
reacting. Pro choice supporters argue that abortion should be viewed as not be
immoral, and sometimes a necessary choice a woman must make in order to be in
charge of her life. Considering pregnancy from a woman s point of view, it can be
very dangerous to
41. Article Review Essay
Jeff Feiertag, Zane L. Berge, (2008) Training Generation N: how educators should
approach the Net Generation , Education + Training, Vol. 50 Iss: 6, pp.457 464 The
authors of this article were focusing on the generational differences between the
generations now and previous generations. The authors explain that they think that
the graduates today are as technologically advanced as they should be. They believe
the answer is adult learning theory and they would try to use this method to avoid
using technology. Berge and Feiertag also state that this generation is so dependent on
technology that without it, we would be lost. Generation N is narrowly focused on
the United States, using these examples but goes to state that it is known... Show

It is important to enhance our understanding in adulthood learning because not
everyone was born into the digital universe. Also, the authors talk about learning in
the classrooms being relatively different than it was before, some teachers don t use
the classroom at all and lecture online. Article also points around the Internet as a
whole being some sort of teacher, Google for example. Google spits out about any
kind of information that you may need. These authors also go on to state that older
generations aren t really that worried about the advance in technology and that they
are more focused on the news and literature than the internet boom . But that the
televisions are aiming towards trying to get their viewers more involved in the
internet. I don t think that classrooms will become completely technology dependent
and I feel like that is what the authors are trying to hint at. I do think that our
generation has become dependent on technology but I disagree that everyone has to
learn it. I think that it is important that adults learn this new way of living in a sense,
but I do not believe that it should be a necessity. The authors also say that society as
a whole is turning into technology, I disagree. Although technology has become
almost the basis of everything (the reading mentioned banks), there is still the old
school way of doing things and there are some
42. Benefits of Cloning Essay
Benefits of Cloning
What if while walking down the street you encountered someone who looked exactly
like you? Would you stare in amazement or would your heart be filled with fear? At
first some people may look upon the idea of cloning with disgust and question
themselves if humans should play God while others would be interested and study
the many possibilities that cloning offers. This illustrates the path that cloning has
taken over the latter part of the twentieth century. At first, when cloning was brought
up in conversations, people tended to fearfully think of an army of identical persons
marching across the earth in hopes of ruling humans. This and many other absurd
notions of clones stem from science fiction movies and ... Show more content on

Since then people think that biologists are cloning both human and other mammal s
embryos only to see how far they can push the scientific envelope, but in fact there
are many legitimate reasons for investigating cloning. Embryologists believe that
research into cloning could help improve the life of future generations. Cancer
research is possibly the most important reason for embryo cloning they argue.
Oncologists believe that embryonic study will advance understanding of the rapid cell
growth of cancer. Cancer cells develop at approximately the same phenomenal
speed as embryonic cells do. By studying the embryonic cell growth, scientists may
be able to determine how to stop rapid cell division, and also stop cancer growth in
turn (Hyde 15). Another important area of embryo cloning research is embryonic
stem cell development. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that can develop into
almost any type of cell in the body. These cells are not attacked by a person s
immune system, because of their fast development and undifferentiated status
(Wilmut 4). Many doctors believe that these stem cells could be used in treatments for
brain and nervous system damage.
Perhaps a more questionable use of cloned embryos is for spare parts and hormones.
Production of transgenic farm animals to make organs to transplant in humans with
organ failure has been heavily researched. Companies

Angela s Ashes and The Street experts both display the common theme of poverty
and the struggles that come with it. In Angela s Ashes the author make the setting
cold. Winter time is one of the hardest times for families that live in poverty, in the
winter food and warmth is a necessity and not having it can really impact your
health; like in Angles s Ashes the mother is sick due to the cold and lack of food,
this is an exsmaple of how the auother uses the charcters and setting to creat an overal
theme. In the expert The Street the overall theme is also proverty, the theme was
created through the setting and characters also.
