2. Essay about The Human Right Violations at Abu Ghraib
The Human Right Violations at Abu Ghraib
In 1949, the Geneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War was created to prohibit
immoral, cruel and degrading punishment toward prisoners during wartime. The United States ratified
this covenant and became a member of the Geneva Conventions. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, a
series of human abuses occurred from October through December of 2003 where American military
personnel have conducted acts of brutality and immoral behavior toward Iraqi detainees at the Abu
Ghraib prison. The inhumane interrogation method of the American military have clearly violated

Abu Ghraib and the Root Causes of Abuse
When President Bush declared the War on Terror after the incident of September 11, 2001, he was
declaring a new kind of war on a different kind of enemy. The al Qaeda terrorist group who were
responsible for the destruction of World Trade Center is organized differently than any enemy that the
U.S. has faced before. Since the terrorists were determined to target large numbers of American
civilians, the Bush administration issued a memorandum which declared the Geneva Conventions
cannot apply to unconventional combatants such as al Qaeda, it states I accept the legal conclusion of
the Department of Justice and determine that none of the provisions of Geneva apply to our conflict
with al Qaeda in Afghanistan or elsewhere through the world because; among other reasons al Qaeda
is not a High Contracting Party to Geneva. (Bush 2002)
In 2002, the Office of Legal Counsel responded to the President s request of exploring the question
whether American officials have the right to use torture against suspected terrorists. Assistant Attorney
General Jay S. Bybee of the Office of Legal Counsel not only legalized the use of torture for U.S.
officials but also defined torture in the narrowest way. He defines torture as inflicting physical pain, or
any serious physical injury such as failure of organs or at the most

ID cards are misused stolen counterfeited and so on. This increasing battle with cyber security
has led to the birth of biometric security systems. The Biometric security system is a fairly new
technology that has indeed impacted the lives of numerous persons. This essay will examine

disadvantages: one of the most important yet most unfortunate disadvantage is that it may cause

7. Essay on Integral Philosophy of Education
Integral Philosophy of Education
ABSTRACT: Education, an action, is a process, a development of the imperfect human being
intentionally directed at achieving the ideal of human plenitude in the best possible manner. This is a
description of the educational process based on the human being who travels toward plenitude, a point
of arrival; the human being who achieves his or her own perfection in the best possible manner; and a
method: intentional guidance towards plenitude in the harmonious formation of humanity. It is not
enough to say what education is or what it is like. It is necessary to clarify what education is for. The
harmonious development of essential, integral and vocational abilities makes the student more perfect

It is a method: intentionally guiding a human being towards the plenitude of the harmonious formation
of man. Personalized education does not exclude that which is essential common and equal in all
human beings; instead, it invigorates and justifies the individual himself or his individual personality.
Body and soul are susceptible to acquiring perfection and beauty, as Plato wished. This perfection
assumes there is a natural, progressive and systematic development of all of man s superior abilities.
Education is about preparing us for an integral life and for that which comes after our worldly
existence. For that reason, the organization of habits capable of adapting individuals to their physical
and social environment are so important. It would, however, be an error to limit us, as pragmatists do,
to the organization of habits and the adaptation of individuals to their circumstances. The formation of
men: as multi dimensional and harmonious human beings and not just as specialists is fundamental. In
this sense, education is the intentional perfection of uniquely human powers through systematic
activities exercised by teachers with learners.
The individual who receives education is an imperfect person capable of perfection. A person becomes
educated because he is able to be educated; because his ability to acquire education

9. Themes In Lord Byron s When We Two Parted
Lord Byron s When We Two Parted details the experiences of a man who has just been heartbroken by
someone who he thought would love him forever, but seemingly never loved him. He in that moment
realizes that nothing will be the same, as any time he hears the name of his former lover, he will be
struck with grief and regret, basking in the shame that he allowed them to hurt him so. Although When
We Two Parted can be used as a lens to glimpse inside the mind of someone who has just been
heartbroken, it can also serve as a mirror for Lord Byron s life and his change in outlook on ideas such
as infinity and the everlastingness of a promise.
Lord George Gordon Byron was born on January 22, 1788 in London with a twisted foot. He was
primarily raised destitute by his mother, the family fortune having been wasted by his father s
gambling affiction. While not officially divorced, his parents lived separately until the death of his
father in 1791, as they could not stand living in the same house. His mother enrolled him in the
Aberdeen Grammar School in 1798, where he began writing and developed a fascination with politics.
In that same year, he inherited the Barony of Byron of Rochdale in addition to the Byron family home
in Newstead after the death of his uncle. Unfortunately for Byron, not much money came with the
inheritance as well, as his uncle had also squandered the majority of it. In 1805, Byron enrolled in
Trinity College at Cambridge, and three years later had an

10. Disadvantages Of Bicyclist
Bicyclists seem to want all the same privileges as a motor vehicle but not the responsibility. I have not
only witnessed numerous instances of bicyclists running stop signs, but also experienced a near
accident caused by a cyclist running a stop sign.
There could be numerous reasons why bicyclists run stop signs. One could be that they are completely
unaware of traffic laws. It also could be that they don t want to lose momentum by stopping and
having to start again, or they simply don t care. No matter the reason, they re endangering the other
people on the road. I find this very concerning and dangerous. If cyclists want to be treated equally
with motor vehicles, they should realize that they must also follow the same laws and face the same
penalties. When you strap on you re helmet and straddle you re bike you re now legally responsible to
follow the same rules of the road as an automobile.
When living in a large metropolitan city, there are an extreme amount of cars on the streets. This
contributes to smog, emissions, and a huge carbon footprint on mother earth. People are thankful for
others who take this into consideration and ride bicycles instead of driving, but this doesn t make the
bicyclist a better person, even though some of them act like it.
Living in a small town that may have only a few intersections with stoplights or stop signs, one may
feel freer to break the rules of the road, and the consequences are less harmful. When you run through
a stop sign in a

Burmese pythons taking over the Everglades Imagine taking a walk in the Florida Everglades. Now
imagine that during that walk you come across a giant snake. In that snakes grip is a full sized White
tailed deer. The two are battling it out, but the snake is clearly winning, it does not stand a chance
against a full sized python. What could possibly be even worse than that would be a Burmese python
battling an alligator and winning? It has happened even though the snake did not make it away from
the fight. It looks like something out of a horror film and it is happening more than people might
think. This giant snake ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many different efforts in place to slow the population growth of the Burmese python. Due to
the overwhelming amount of the non native pythons in the Everglades (which is expanding to the
Florida Keys and beyond) there has been a ban on Burmese pythons and 3 other constrictor snakes.
On January 17, 2012 the Federal Wildlife service declared a ban on overseas imports of the snakes as
well as interstate imports. That means the snakes are now illegal to bring into the United States as well
as just transporting over state lines (BIG snakes, 2012). Although there is now a ban in place some
feel that it is already too late to save the Florida Everglades. According to Steven A. Williams, former
director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) warns that invasive species are the number one
environmental threat to the United States. (BIG snakes, 2012) The federal government has spent
billions of dollars trying to slow or stop the threat of invasive species. In January 2013 in an effort to
curb the python problem Florida began it s very first ever python hunt. Thousands of hopeful hunters
have signed up for a month long challenge where prizes for the longest snake and others are up for
grabs. People from around the country have slithered their way to Florida in hopes of bagging a
Burmese python or two. As of January 25th

The use of JIT will help the company increase their efficiency by cut down on wait time and
processing, all of which will translate to increased productivity and hence profitability. According to
Heizer Render (2011) employee training is vital to the success of a company, this is so true of MICI,
because of the extensive standard training and cross training of the MICI employees will translate to
increased efficiency, productivity flexibility, decreased wait time for customers and as history has
depicted, costumers satisfaction is integral to the success of a company because customers are the
major drivers in the market.
The layout strategy is another concept the book touched on, the new layout of the claims department
will allow for better workflow. It will also improve claims time, employee empowerment due to the
proximity of workers to each order and flow of work in the cell, flexibility of the various equipment
used by the company (Heizer Render, 2011).
Overall Ms.is using the fundamental principle of the JIT, work cell concept, the concept of employees
development, concept revamping and old system that is nonfunctional with the help of the of experts
and the people who actually work in the field. All of which, will hopefully increase throughput,
increase flexibility, reduce variability and give MICI a competitive advantage in the market.

the Catholic Church to what it was meant to be, a church for the people. Dr. Fouberg s book Human

Consistent with Kwast and Kennickell (1997) research, wealth has an important role to play in terms

availability of payment instruments that one can choose. For instance, while wealthy consumers may
be able to fund their obligations generally, consumers that experience brief financial shortfalls may not
find electronic bill payment desirable as a payment instrument.

This piece of writing is going to demonstrate an understanding of diversity, difference and also discuss
the implications for social work practice. It will include an understanding of theories and concepts in
relation to diversity where it will address the needs of diverse communities, individuals and groups,
exploring differences in relation to culture, ethnicity, gender, age, sexuality, social class and economic

In relation to social work diversity does not simply mean difference in race and gender but also the
unnoticeable differences such as values, religion, social background, economic wellbeing and political
beliefs. It is important to acknowledge and understand diversity in social work as there have been
matters of holding assumptions and prejudices about an individual or group in the manner they are
treated and the services they receive. The issue with making assumptions and prejudices is
acknowledged in the Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF) as domain 3 explains
that diversity is multi dimensional, diversity can effect an individual s life experience in a positive or
negative way. This is due to the issues that occur with differences such as oppression, marginalisation
and alienation as well as the positive side which includes privilege, power and acclaim (Capabilities

22. The Water Treatment Process
Surface waters necessitate water treatment before consumption to eliminate the risk present to the
consumer. Poor quality water which consists of suspended and dissolved particles pose health risks.
The most harmful contamination is the microbiological contamination which leads to infectious
diseases (Water treatment, 1994).Since the early 1800 s water purification systems have been used to
eliminate the health risk posed by the recycled water. During the final process of treatment alternate
disinfectants are used, however UV radiation and chlorination are predominantly employed
techniques. UV radiation emitted by the sun was discovered to have germicidal effects on pathogens
and micro organisms present water. From this discovery came the introduction of UV radiation lamps,
which emit similar UV rays to the sun to disinfect the water. Chlorination systems had come into use a
few years later during the 1900 s as scientists had discovered the disinfection properties of chlorine.
Both methods have benefits and weaknesses, however chlorination is more suitable due to its low cost
of production and decreased risk of bacterial products in metropolitan areas.
The treatment process involves the removal of contaminants through a number of stages which
include: pre water treatment, coagulation and flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection.
This is called the multiple barrier principle (Water Treatment, 1994).
The water treatment begins with the process of screening,

If you are thinking about owning a bike the Takara single speed is without a doubt a great investment.
For the price at which you are getting it, it is guaranteed to outlast other similar make bikes of a
different brand. Many users have been outright resentful of the fact that the bike is so heavy when
comparing it to other road bikes. The weight might be a turn off but it is actually one of the
contributing factors to why the Takara is such a durable and reliable product. The design incorporates
a number of steel parts that are all welded together, making it seem heavier than you might have liked.
It is this weight that allows the bike to have such a sturdy frame and make it such a reliable option for
wielding in and out of the busy city streets. The steel frames will not be likely to wear and tear any

1. Let s say you are a senior decision maker in a large computer design, manufacturing and sales
company. How do the three convergences affect you? (1 2 page response, single space) Besides the ten
flatteners that Friedman discusses in the book, he also talks about the convergences that create a flatter
world. The first convergence deals with engaging people from around the globe and being able to
communicate. More likely than not, my computer parts and chips would be manufactured in China,
were I can collaborate with engineers designing custom parts. When a design change is needed I could
send email and use video chat to have meetings to discuss what changes my company would need.
Being able to email and chat in real time would increase efficiency in my product design. Without this
ability to outsource and possibly hire a Chinese engineer to help translate material, my design team
may not be as robust. I could have a sales center based in India that I could direct all my sales
information and technical support where more engineers and services sector people could perform the
tasks needed therein reducing the cost of have a call center and sales locally. The second convergence
deals with new technology that Freidman describes as horizontalization, the shift from a vertical chain
of command to a horizontal chain of command for value creation (Freidman, 2007). Collaboration
among various groups or departments allows for innovation to occur freely. If the manufacturing

27. Why Is The Federal Reserve Important

The Federal Reserve has no significance in the U.S. economy
Introduction
In the event that the American individuals really saw how the Federal Reserve framework functions
and what it has done to us, they would be shouting for it to be nullified promptly. It is a framework
that was composed by global brokers for the advantage of worldwide investors, and it is methodically
devastating the American individuals. The Federal Reserve framework is the essential motivation
behind why the cash has declined in worth by well more than 95 percent and the national obligation
has become more than 5000 times bigger in the course of recent years. The Fed makes the blasts and

On the off chance that the public does not trust this, simply go out in the city and ask general
individuals where cash originates from. This is the reason it is so critical to get individuals taught.
Imagine that most Americans would be sickened to discover that the making of more cash in the
framework additionally includes the production of more obligation. At the point when the U.S.
government concludes that it needs to spend another billion dollars that it doesn t have, it doesn t print
up a billion dollars. Or maybe, the U.S. government makes a pack of U.S. Treasury bonds (obligation)
and takes them over to the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve makes a billion dollars out of
nowhere and trades them for the U.S. Treasury bonds. The U.S. Treasury securities that the Federal
Reserve gets in return for the cash it has made out of nothing are sold through the Federal Reserve
framework. Be that as it may, hold up, there is an issue. Since the U.S. government must pay
enthusiasm on the Treasury securities, the measure of obligation that has been made by this exchange
is more noteworthy than the measure of cash that has been made (Adrian and Shin

With regards to William Shakespeare s comedy, A Midsummer Night s Dream, the theme of love plays
a central role throughout the play. When separating the play into its separate worlds being: the social
world and the green/comic world, the norms regarding love differs from one world to the next. With
reference to the given extract of Lysander and Hermia in the comic world, certain threatening forces
within the comic world surface to interfere with plot as well as the way in which these dark forces are
driven out in order for the play to remain comedic instead of tragic. The world in which the lovers plot

29. tax evasion. a case
A case on tax evasion by Anurag Kashyap
Introduction
Tax evasion is the illegal evasion of taxes by individuals, corporations and trusts. Tax evasion often
entails taxpayers deliberately misrepresenting the true state of their affairs to the tax authorities to
reduce their tax liability and includes dishonest tax reporting, such as declaring less income, profits or
gains than the amounts actually earned, or overstating deductions. Tax evasion is an activity
commonly associated with the informal economy. One measure of the extent of tax evasion (the tax
gap ) is the amount of unreported income, which is the difference between the amount of income that
should be reported to the tax authorities and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The word concealment is not used in the context of prosecution either under the present Act or the
proposed legislation. But there are provisions to tackle defaults of every kind. As regards penalty, the
Code provides for levy of penalty automatically, wherever there is a difference between reported and
assessed income. The removal of the word concealment takes away the need for inference of intent to
keep back any information relating to assessment. The law in the Code makes no difference between
the deliberate delinquency and the innocent omission so that the Code, as in most other aspects, is
more stringent on the taxpayer.
India loses 14 trillion rupees ($314 billion) from tax evasion annually, depriving it of funds for
investment in roads, ports, and power, says Arun Kumar, author of The Black Economy in India.
General government tax revenue is an estimated 18 percent of India s $1.5 trillion in gross domestic
product, the lowest among the four BRIC nations, International Monetary Fund data show. With so
little revenue coming in, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is now attempting India s biggest overhaul
of the tax code in half a century.
Investors say tax reform would boost their confidence. If the government does end up making a
substantial amount in revenue as a result of the tax overhaul, their deficit requirements should come
down and the interest

31. Odysseus As A Hero Archetype
Not all heros come in movies or little kid books. Some heros come from thousands of years ago and
are nothing like the heros today. Keep reading and you ll find out what I mean! Some heros are known
for saving the day and having a happy ever after but, for this hero, nothing good happened for a long
time. This hero, who goes by Odysseus, went through very tough times before he even saw a glimpse
of happiness after twenty long years. This hero s journey happened over a thousand years ago in the
Ancient Greece. Odysseus and his men sailed across the seas to fight in the Trojan War but, because of
his men s stupidity, took him longer to get home then he was planning. In this story, there are many

The prince always have an obstacle to face and some obstacles come with one eye and an appetite.
The monster knows none but savage ways and a quote to help my statement is A prodigious man slept
in this cave alones, and took his flocks to graze afield remote from all companions knowing none but
savage ways a brute so huge (580)Homer. The monster archetype can be anything that you fear. The
monster can also be anything that is a bad temptation. A quote from the story to help my thesis is the
sirens who lure sailors to their destruction;the wandering rocks, sea rocks that even destroy seabirds at
flight (580)Homer. The sirens can stand for temptation and temptation is not always good. Sometimes,
monsters can come when you have two decisions and neither one is a good choice but you have to
choose and this is an example of my statement The perils of the sea monster Scylia and nearby, the
whirlpool charybdis (580)Homer. Both decision can be bad but you still have to choose and it will
have consequences. I know a similar situation is with popularity, you do the wrong things to be
popular and get in trouble for it or not do it and be left out. Now do think this was so easy for
Odysseus? He had to have a damsel in distress to save to become the hero, or should I say, damsels in
distress. The damsel in distress archetype is an extra complication added into the story. Odysseus men
got themselves into some serious trouble even though Odysseus warned them.

32. Stayin Alive Analyse
Genre Review
The song I chose for this assignment is Stayin Alive, a disco song performed by the Bee Gees in 1977.
The Bee Gees, a successful disco band, was composed of three brothers whose achievements include
releasing six consecutive number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100.
Disco, the genre of the selected song, is characterized by many different influences and is considered
to be a melting pot of various genres as disco borrowed from soul, jazz, Latin, funk, and classical
music to create a unique yet explosive new style of music. Originating in the early 1970 s with some
of the ingredients used in Motown, disco enjoyed massive success until about the early 1980 s when
anti disco sentiment effectually killed it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Synthesizers were also commonly used in disco to provide background while solo lines and harmonies
performed with various brass instruments accented the songs. Generally, the primary themes of disco
lyrics are about love, sex and or dancing although some songs did not fit this mold. Many disco artists
often sang in a high pitched falsetto voice, which was labeled as weird or effeminate as most disco
artists were males and males were expected to fit their stereotype. This song fits this genre perfectly as
the the theme of Stayin Alive is about how the artist can escape the hardships of his life and forget
about everything when he is out on the dance floor. This song is perfect example of how disco helped
people express themselves through dancing especially when they were struggling in life, a theme that
anybody can relate to no matter who they

other powerful government leaders. The meeting took place in a wealthy area in Berlin on a lake that
was named Wannsee. The final solution to the jewish question was the focus of the meeting. The term
final solution was the phrase used by the Nazi s for their plan for the extermination of all European
Jews. This meeting was the first time that the government leaders not involved with the Nazi party
were introduced to the plan for the Jews that the Nazi s had carefully developed. The meeting was

There was not a single person present at the conference that opposed the final solution . A modern
country had never made a plan to wipe out an entire race. There was fifteen men that attended the

government leaders in Germany that helped the Nazi s complete their plan. Among the agencies
represented were the Department of Justice, the Foreign Ministry, the Gestapo, the SS, the Race and
Resettlement Office, and the office in charge of distributing Jewish property. Also at the meeting was
a representative of the General Government, the Polish occupation administration, whose territory
included more than 2 million Jews. The head of Heydrich s office for Jewish affairs, Adolf Eichmann,
prepared the conference notes. (Michael Berenbaum). All the men at the conference knew that their
cooperation was essential for the plan to run smoothly. For all the men at the conference more than
half of them received doctorate degrees from universities in Germany. The Nazi s didn t need to do
much convincing of the non Nazi government leaders of letting them move the Jews east and putting
them into concentration camps they knew that was going to happen. They also understood what the
final solution was, but in the Wannsee Protocol it never said that they planned on extermination. The
first gas chambers were built in Poland just months
