1. 4. How did you use media
technologies in the construction
and research, planning and
evaluation stages.
2. Overall, I used blogger throughout all stages of the production process,
blogger is where I recorded my research and planning, my drafts, my
final products, my audience feedback, my evaluation, my final
products. Blogger contains the whole process to my main product and
has helped me to record and keep track of my decisions and ideas.
3. I used Google when researching other real texts (music videos), the
genre of the music and the target audiences. This helped me because I
got loads of information from sites such as Wikipedia, where there is
endless information on what I wanted to find out. This then had a
massive impact because it helped me to decide what type of music
video I wanted and what genre etc.
4. YouTube was used throughout all the different stages, I first used YouTube
when trying to research and find real texts with the pop genre (like mine).
This became useful because I could then understand more the conventions of
the pop music videos and link them with my music video. I also used YouTube
when I knew what the narrative was in my music video, so I started to look up
similar texts and tried to get ideas for creative shots, things to include and
the timings for my text. I then used YouTube to post my final product, this
was vital because YouTube is such a popular site and it’s really easy to use, so
any of the target audience could find the music video on YouTube.
5. I also used Survey Monkey when putting together my research and
planning, as I made a questionnaire and got the targeted audience to
respond. Survey monkey was easy to use and showed my results in a very
clear way, so I could then post them to my blog to show my evidence of
audience feedback.
6. Another form of media technology I used was final cut pro, this was vital for my
final product because I used this programme to complete all of the editing. I
started with my raw footage and uploaded it to final cut pro, I then began to
place individual clips into order and the programme allowed me to cut clips and
get them to the length I needed. It also allowed me to put the music in and
block any previous sound from the clips I had filmed, making it begin to look like
a real music video. Also the programme allowed me to edit the colouring of
some clips for example with the sadder clips of the boy trying to overdose I
changed the saturation, so it created a darker, duller look in the room and I also
chose a ‘fade’ colour effect to also bring the colours down to make the clips
more depressing. Final cut pro also gave me the opportunity to add titles onto
my music video, which made a huge impact as then when I finished editing
everything the final product looked very realistic.
7. Another programme I used was prezi; I used prezi to store information
in my research and planning stage. I did this because it was an easy and
tidy way to put information together. Prezi was nice to use and it is
effective because you can put things In the order you want them to be
seen.
8. I also used PowerPoint, I did this when I was researching Goodwin’s
theory and finding examples of his theory. PowerPoint was an effective
way of putting information on my blog because it is easy to use and it
helps to make my blog look interesting.
9. For my evaluation question one, I used Microsoft word to type and add
pictures, which I could then add to my blog completed. For question
two, I used iMovie to put a short clip together with my voice over in the
background showing different images such as screenshots from the
music video. Then for question three I used prezi, so I could set it out in
two halves one for my first survey and the other for the next load of my
audience feedback. For my fourth and final question, I used
PowerPoint, as I wanted to be able to clearly show the stages of what
media technologies I used.
