This document discusses a music video production that challenges conventions in several ways. It is primarily a lyrics video, which is less common than narrative or performance videos. It also does not fit neatly into those categories. The band itself challenges conventions in their other videos, so the production aims to match their style. While lyrics videos exist, this production displays the lyrics physically within the shot rather than editing them in, differing from most lyrics videos.

2.  My production challenges the codes and conventions of most
existing music videos as it is mostly a lyrics video which although
it has been done before it makes up a small percentage of existing
music videos. My production also challenges codes and
conventions because most music videos fall into two categories,
narrative and performance, but my production falls into neither of
these categories as it has no overarching story or shots of the band
performing the song. I did this because the band is not typical of
bands within this genre and many of their other videos challenge
codes and conventions so I wanted my production to be in
keeping with the style of the band. Although by being a lyric
video my production challenges the codes conventions there are
other lyric videos that exist in a similar format so I have
developed the ideas displayed in these videos by having the lyrics
physically within the shot instead of edited in, as is the case with
most lyric videos.

3.  There is no combination between my main task and ancillary tasks
as I have no completed ancillary tasks

4.  I have used media technologies extensively throughout my
project. The first piece of media technology I used was YouTube in
order to find and watch music videos for my research I also used
YouTube to watch tutorials on other pieces of media technology
that I used as well as using it to showcase my final production. I
also used media technologies to display my research as I used
Prezi to present my research in an easy to understand why that I
could easily look back on throughout my project. The next piece of
media technology that I used was blogger that I used to display all
of my work online. I also used adobe elements to edit my final
piece together, I also used YouTube and inbuilt tutorials to teach
me how to use this piece of software.

5.  Early on in my research I undertook an audience survey to learn
what the target audience of the band is and what their fans would
want to see in a music video. This showed me that the main
audience of the band are young adults with an approximately
50/50 split between male and females. The results of the
questionnaire also showed that the audience would like to see a
video of the band performing but I decided to go against this and
make a lyrics video instead
