How did you use media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and
evaluation stages?
Technology played a big part throughout research, planning, construction and evaluation.
Most of the technologies I used were familiar and I have used them before but some
technologies were new to me and I had to adjust and learn how to used them.
During the project I used websites such as Google and
YouTube to take a look at existing artists. Google
allowed me to look at pictures of existing print products
and also allowed me to copy and paste images for my
case studies. Any time I was unsure about media
language I searched it up on google and it gave me the
answer which was helpful. YouTube was also helpful
because I used it to watch music videos to come up with
an idea of what genre I wanted to do. Once I found the
R&B acoustic genre I searched in songs with the same
genre and the sites ‘related videos’ made it more easier
for me to look at many other videos. When watching
these videos I was able get ideas of conventional
settings, costumes camera shots and props which I later
subverted into my work.
Both sites are familiar to me which made it easy to use
and browse through and they both allowed me to
extract videos and photos from the site onto my blog.
The technologies I used to access these search engines was my
computer and my mobile phone. I mainly used my mobile phone
to access edublog when I was not in class. It allowed me to still
update my blog about the stage I was in whilst I was out and
about which constantly kept me updated with my blog.
Blogger was the main online site I used throughout my whole project.
During research it allowed me to post blog posts about the research I
did online and also allowed me to post updates about what I did in
class. The things I posted on my blog during research and planning
were the 3 case studies, recce and treatments etc. During construction
I used it to post my progress and updates about shooting dates and
weather. When I was editing my project I used Blogger to post screen
shots of my progress on final cut pro and during evaluation I was able
to post my evaluation questions. The main thing about blogger is that
it is like a diary form allowing me to update and track my progress.

Prezi was used on many occasions during my project. I used it to
present my case studies and to present one of my evaluation
questions. I used this site many times this year and last year which
has made it easier and quicker for me to use.

Slideshare was also used to present my proposal of the digipak
and magazine advert.
For the filming process of the music video we used a Canon
DSLR camera. This camera was one of the challenges we
faced because we had problems with the focus. Some of
our shots came out more focused than the others
because we was unsure about how to focus every shot.
However we got used to it and learnt how to adjust the
focus. This camera was effective in giving the video a
clean finish and professional look. It was also used in the
studio for the photo shoot for the print products. It was
easier to use the camera during the photo shoot rather
than filming because everything was set up before we
used it.

The shoulder mount was used during our filming process.
This gave us steady shots while moving with the camera.

We also used a tripod to get still shots for our video.

This is a picture taken
of us using the tripod
whilst filming.
Photoshop was used to edit and put our print products
together. I was already familiar with this from using it
last year therefore I did not find it difficult while using
it. On this programme I was able to add lack and white
filters, air brush images and ad texts.

Final cut pro was used to make our
music video. This was the first time I
used this programme therefore it was
quite hard to use at first. After getting
used to it I was able to colour correct
different shot and also add the
speeding up effect.

cut pro.

Photoshop.
