Thomas Paine Common Sense Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Thomas Paine Common Sense" can present both challenges and
opportunities for exploration. On one hand, delving into the profound ideas and revolutionary
sentiments expressed by Thomas Paine in his iconic work requires a deep understanding of
historical context, political philosophy, and the intricacies of 18th-century American society.
Paine's persuasive and incisive writing style adds another layer of complexity, demanding careful
analysis to capture the essence of his arguments.
Moreover, crafting an essay on this topic involves navigating through Paine's nuanced critique of
monarchy, his advocacy for independence, and the strategic use of rhetoric to mobilize public
sentiment. The challenge lies in balancing a comprehensive examination of Paine's ideas with a
coherent and well-structured essay that effectively communicates the significance of "Common
Sense" in shaping the trajectory of the American Revolution.
Additionally, the research aspect may pose difficulties, requiring access to reliable historical
sources and scholarly works to provide a robust foundation for the analysis. Ensuring accuracy in
portraying Paine's impact on the revolutionary spirit of the time adds another layer of
responsibility.
Despite these challenges, the essay presents an exciting opportunity for intellectual engagement
and the exploration of pivotal moments in history. It offers a chance to appreciate Paine's
contributions to the foundation of American independence and to connect those ideas with
broader historical and philosophical themes.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Thomas Paine Common Sense" demands a careful balance of
historical insight, critical analysis, and effective communication. While it may be challenging, the
process offers a rewarding journey into the revolutionary ideas that shaped a nation.

Essay On Guy Montag
Amy Walker Cummings English 2 September 2016 Stopping Society Guy Montag
is a fireman who burns books for a living. Ever heard of a fireman who burns books
for a living? This book has quite a few shocking events in it. We learn about
Montage s society, their laws, rules and procedures that they must follow. Not only
that, but how Montag is changed from a fireman who burns books and has no
cares or worried in the world about what he does for a living, to a man who has
woken up from what society has made him out to be, to being someone whom
cares about literature and the future of books and we discover his secret stash of
books. In the beginning we are given this impression of Montag that he is confident
and arrogant. He might wink at himself, a minstrel man, burnt crocked in the mirror.
(Bradbury 2). ...he would feel a fiery smile still gripped by his face muscles, in the
dark. (Bradbury 2). In chapter one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Montag is forced to burn the books. He burnt the bedroom walls and the cosmetic
chest because he wanted to change everything, the chairs, the tables, and in the
dinning room the silverware and plastic dishes, everything that showed that he
lived there in this empty house with a strange woman who will forget him
tomorrow, who had gone and quite forgotten him already, listening to her sea
shells radio pour in on her and in on her as she rode across town, alone. And as
before, it was good to burn.. ( Bradbury 110) . Just like in the begging of the book
Montag finds a pleasure to burn, but this time for a good reason he sees it as
burning all the bad memories and proof that he lived there and lived that life and
went through all the things he went through how he let society control him. Montag
kills betty with a flame thrower and the hound injects him with the needle that is
programed to inject suspects. Montag gets away but has to change his scent to get
the hound of his tracks and get away. Him and Faber plan for the

The case of Toyota recall
By Daniel Opoku
Abstract Purpose: the main purpose of this study is to find out about the recalls of
Toyota vehicles which lead to the death of some innocent lives. The recall was due
to unintended acceleration. Toyota ultimately recalled millions of its cars for floor
mat issues, brake problems and sticky gas pedals. Methodology: Data was collected
online, by the help of some selected search engines. Information was collected from
Toyota s national website as well as other private sites. Findings/results: Most
organization should seek for customers or consumer s satisfaction rather than
targeting of making high profit. Arrogance and choosing to ignore quality warnings

The gas pedals was too long and there is a little space between it and the floor mat.
In all, there was a poorly designed floor mat Toyota began a massive recall last year
worldwide to fix the problems that were attributed to faulty accelerators, floor mats
getting stuck in gas pedals and brake problems in Prius hybrids. More than 8.5
million Toyota cars and trucks have been recalled. Drivers have complained of cars
careering out of control at 65mph while overtaking, and negotiating roundabouts so
fast that it felt like their car was on two wheels. A mechanical fault, caused by a
combination of wear and cold and wet weather, Toyota believes, means that the
accelerator pedal sometimes sticks down. Around 10,000 Toyota owners have so far
contacted a hotline to air concerns.
Toyota was overwhelmed by massive product recalls and damage to its reputation
after questions over the safety of its cars and allegations that the company did not act
quickly enough once problems had been identified. The problem commenced when
one duty police officer and his family back in August 2009 after their car, a Toyota
Lexus, unexpectedly accelerated, crashed into another vehicle, tumbled over an
embankment and burst into flames lead to the death of the man. Initial company
reports identified that the car may have been fitted with the wrong floor mats, which
could have slipped and entrapped the accelerator pedal. The problems began to
increase for Toyota.
Healthy Sleep Behavior Analysis
The target behavior I chose to carry out on is trying a night by night hit the sheets
on time routine. Since I first started college, I have had serious problems with
falling asleep at nights. I often stay awake playing video games, cramming school
work, on social media or watching TV. I chose to change this behavior because sleep
is a key essential in the world. The feeling of actually being tired when you go to bed
and feeling awake with nothing but energy in the morning is the best feeling in the
world. Having a good sleeping pattern is indeed an amazing skill to develop in life.
There s just so much things that can be taken care of throughout the day when you re
well rested after nightly hours.

I was started to become more aware of the things I do that prevents me from
sleeping period. I started giving up the social media, playing video games, and
cramming work all in one night. With this being don t I had plenty of time on my
hands to take care of more important things and on top of that have the time to sleep
peacefully.
Stimulus Control Stimulus control was very effective on my behavior. The
presences my roommate was there at all times making sure I was up or making
sure I was sleep at the set time that was given. Also, another thing he did was made
sure I competed all of my work on time before I went to bed every night. The
Premack principle was only employed was input throughout this long process by
limiting my activities and completing things like this project on time. Instead of
cramming all night messing up my sleep patterns.
Application
At first, just trying to find a time for me to go to sleep was a real pain to figure.
Due to the fact that I sometimes stay up past midnight most of the time but we
eventually made it work out. If there is one thing that I could have change during
this it would be taking naps. I understand sleep is very important but so is taking
naps. Naps are similar to full deep sleep but just less powerful. Naps regenerate your
body at a smaller time frame than REM sleep
Slavery And The 13th Amendment
Slavery, the state or condition of being a slave; a civil relationship whereby one
person has absolute power over another and controls his life, liberty, and fortune the
subjection of a person to another person, in being forced into work the condition of
being subject to work in harsh conditions for low pay was abolished by the 13th
amendment in 1864. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a
punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist
within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. As the 13th
Amendment abolished the traditional practice of slavery, it also legalized slavery
in a different form. The 13th amendment also creates an exception to the provision
that abolishes slavery stated that it is legal for slavery to be used as a punishment
for a crime. Although constitutionally the traditional practice of slavery in the
United States have now been deemed illegal, the mindset of the average white male
American was still the same and letting go of existing bias was did not come
overnight. In order to keep remain in control Jim Crow laws were passed. Jim Crow
Laws, were state laws and local ordinances enacted from the end of Reconstruction
through the first six decades of the twentieth century for the purpose of mandating de

Cultural Differences Between Indigenous And Non-

Step 1 My Feelings and Thoughts
On the surface, for me Australia seems to be a successful multi cultural nation.
However, on closer readings and lectures on NSB 017 Diversity and Health Cultural
Safety Indigenous Perspectives subject in first semester, it is evident that there are
many inequalities that exist in the country between indigenous Australians and non
indigenous Australians (Ramsden, 2002). As an international student I found this
subject to be extremely interesting and challenging. Learning the significance of
cultural differences is an important aspect of nursing practice everywhere. On the
other hand, I found unexpected negative issues related to indigenous Australians who

understanding and respect for other cultures. This understanding encouraged and
influenced me to practice in a culturally sensitive way, which is safer way and in

How Did Claudius Ptolemaeus Contribute To Astronomy

Astronomy
Period 5

CLAUDIUS PTOLEMY
Claudius Ptolemaeus (Ptolemy) was an influential Greco Roman astronomer who
made important contributions to the sciences in his lifetime during the first century.
He contributed to the studies of astronomy, cartography, and optics. Ptolemy
developed the eventually disproven Geocentric theory, which falsely claimed that the
earth was the center of the solar system, and that the other planets and the sun
orbited around it. Regardless, his scientific contributions were influential for
centuries to come, and formed the basis for the astronomy of the middle ages. He is
regarded as one of the most influential scientist in history. Claudius Ptolemy was born

In it he details the contents of Horoscopic Astrology, which employs the use of a
horoscope, which represents the major constellations and planets in the sky and their
movements. The position of the planets at a certain period of time determines the
nature of people born during the certain time, or so the theory goes. Astrology is
heavily dismissed by the modern scientific community, although it experiences
fluctuating popularity throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. During the Dark Ages
and Middle Ages, astrology was seen as a canonical and very real science. The
Roman Emperors, as well as the Popes, and various European and Middle Eastern
monarchs had a personal court astrologer. They would seek the astrologer s council
on various subjects, including political affairs and questions involving their personal
health. The practice died down among royalty around the same time as the Age of
Enlightenment, with the official Catechism of the Catholic Church denouncing the
practice: All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons,
conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to unveil the future.
Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the

Adolf Eichmann And Human Rights
Human rights are a complex notion, that theoretically should be afforded to every
human being on the planet. However, despite the notion of human rights for all,
widespread human rights violations have still occurred throughout human history.
The Holocaust is a specific historical example of how human rights violations can be
widespread, and systematic. The Holocaustwas the mass genocide of the Jewish
community during the second world war (O Byrne, 2003). However, while the
human rightsviolations that occurred during the Holocaust were heinous and
villainous, the international response towards the perpetrators of the Holocaust, also
proposed important questions regarding human rights. The specific trial that raised
human rights concerns,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By critically examining Eichmann s trial, it is clear that the criminal proceeding
was facilitated in a way that did not ensure Eichmann s basic human right, to a trial
free of bias and subjectivity. One of the major flaws in Eichmann s trial was the
trial being held in Israel, as opposed to Germany, where the crimes were actually
committed. As outlined in the Jasper reading, holding the trial in Israel, was a
strategic and political decision (Jaspers, 2006). As was discussed in lecture, the
choice to hold the trial in Israel, was made to fuel the opinion that Israel was the
land where the Jewish community was safe, despite Israel s complicity in the
horrendous actions that were committed during the Holocaust (Tasson: Course
Slides (W6)). The choice to hold the trial in Israel was an unfair decision, that was
made to promote Israel s pro Jewish perception, and put the metaphorical stake in
Eichmann s coffin (Tasson: Course Slides (W6)). The right to a fair criminal
proceeding is a human right that should be afforded to all human beings, despite the
crimes they have committed. Holding a criminal trial in a nation unrelated to the
crime, is a human rights violations, due to the basic fact that the facilitation of the
trial is being used to further the nation s interest, as opposed to fairly prosecuting the
individual (Tasson: Course
Everyday Use Symbolism
Everyday Use by Alice Walker represents a complex depiction of the relationship
between an African American mother and her two daughters. Each daughter, Maggie
and Dee, illustrates that while human beings may have the same upbringing and
family heritage, educational factors can lead people in widely different directions in
life. The story is narrated from the point of view of Mama, the reader learns
throughout the story Mama s thoughts about herself and her two daughters. Through
the usage of specific theme and symbolism, in her postmodern story, Everyday Use ,
Alice Walker emphasizes the importance and meaning of heritage and tradition by
questioning the true effect of education on young African American s lives.

This is a specific postmodern characteristic explored in the story known as
pastiche. The element of pastiche is used effectively in Alice Walker s Everyday
Use in portraying the relationships between Mama and her daughter Dee. The
author used a parody of a cultural myth, the prodigal son , rather the daughter here
to represent Dee. She left the cozy nest to seek the seek knowledge, fortune and the
birth side of the world. She returns to her rural home after an extended period of
time without contact, she wrote once mama said. The parody however, on the myth
become visible as instead of the joyful and warm welcome the mythical prodigal son
receives when he returns, Maggie and mama seems distant and disconnected from
Dee. Her new personality and character frightened her family in a way that even
mama stated often I fought off the temptation to shake her (Walker 46). The
smallest details about her bother her family. Her dress is so colorful that
Moreover, Mama does not shower her with numerous gifts as a welcome. Instead
Dee is the one who demands the gifts but her demand and wish is refuted. The fact
that Mama also calls Dee with the term miss indicates mama feeling of alienation
toward her daughter. Dee is therefore seen as a stranger just like her companion
Hakim a barber. This use and parody of an
Gap Year Advantages
A gap year between high school and college may just be the one thing students
need. It provides students with some time off of school, and by taking a break
from school, much of their stress and pressure is relieved. There are so many ways
to spend this extra year that students gain. The possibilities are endless. It gives
people time to gain new experiences. One could travel the world, or simply adjust to
a working lifestyle in their hometown. There are countless options to take advantage
of and this is simply for the people who are interested in gaining new experiences.
The gap yearalso provides students with some extra time to think about making
any changes to the decisions they have already took in regards to their future.
They are provided with time to ponder their future and career path. Most of all, it
gives them a much needed break from the strict schedule of school years. For a
year, they are given the freedom to do whatever they like and not worry about
studying or completing projects or handing in their essays by the deadline. There are
so many clear benefits to taking this well deserved break before you begin college. A
gap year after the four most stressful years of schooling should certainly be taken
advantage of because it gives a student the chance to have new experiences, it allows
one to contemplate and finalize their career path, and lastly it grants an opportunity
for a student to be relieved from the academic burnout and take a break from the rigid

Do they tend to dress up or dress down? Maybe their personal style is in between.

lifestyle?: A person s lifestyle can affect a lot of things, including whether or not
they wear jewelry and what kind of jewelry they can wear. You don t want to just
take into account what they do on their free time, think about their profession. For
example, if someone is a chef, they will constantly be using their hands. It might be
better to purchase a necklace or earrings instead of a ring that they will rarely get
the chance to wear. Is there anything they don t currently have in their jewelry
collection?: It is always a good idea to purchase something that people don t
already have when you are getting them a gift. Even when buying them jewelry, you
want to be sure they don t currently own the piece you plan to buy or that they don t
have anything similar. Buying the exact same piece of jewelry or something similar
to a piece they already own might lead to you heading back to jewelry store to find

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Plasticizers
2.1.FILLERS
Fillers enhance performance and/or reduce production costs. Stabilizing additives
include fire retardants to lower the flammability of the material. Many plastics
contain fillers, relatively inert and inexpensive materials that make the product
unexpensive by weight.
Typically fillers are mineral in origin, e.g., chalk. Some fillers are more chemically
active and are called reinforcing agents. Other fillers include zinc oxide, wood flour,
ivory dust, cellulose and starch.
Additives, fillers, and reinforcements are used to change and enhance the physical
and mechanical properties of plastics. In general, reinforcing fibers increase the
mechanical properties of polymer composites while particular fillers of various types

Now talking about pigments, titanium dioxide is one of the most widely used
pigments in plastic industry used to make the plastic more white, bright and strong.
Pigments are a better choice as compared to dyes for use with polyefins as dyes
have a tendency to migrate in polyefins. Furthermore with their opacifying ability
and broader chroma, they are preferred over dyes as a colorant. The nature of
pigment is also a very huge factor. Depending upon the processing temperature
requirements, the choice of organic or inorganic pigments is made. The choice of the
colorant however, depends upon the base resin that is going to be used in
manufacturing the plastic to avoid any color
Essay on The Science of the Sexes
Schopenhauer, the German pessimist philosopher, wrote in 1851 that only a man
overcome by his sexual impulses could have given the name of the fair sex to that
undersized, narrow shouldered, broad hipped and short legged race.
Despite the many differences between the sexes, from average weight and height to
body fat, there has been an assumption that these are only skin deep and that intellect
is essentially the same.
The recent publications of the latest in a growing body of research demonstrate that
our brains are different too and fuel the fear that science may provide an antidote to
demands for women s emancipation: if male dominance is all the nature s fault, then
patriarchy is inevitable.
Feminist can, however, breathe a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Residing on the male Y chromosome, the gene switches on a cascade of genes that
make testicles. These in turn bathe the body in testosterone. Many of the differences
in male and female rodent behaviour are testosterone derived, said Prof Goodfellow.
If you give a female rat a short burst of testosterone shortly after birth you end up with
a female that demonstrates male behaviour. But there is a lot of argument about
whether a similar thing occurs in humans.
Five years ago, Anne Moir and David Jessel claimed in the book BrainSex that to
believe the sexes are the same is to build a society based on a biological and
scientific lie. There are indeed many documented differences between the sexes in
humans, rats and guinea pigs. However, the best known are in deep regions that
control sexual behaviour, a find that is hardly surprising.
It was only last year that scientists announced they had found differences in the thin
rind on the surface of the brain responsible for higher intellectual abilities. Sandra
Witelson, of McMaster University, told the US Society of Neuroscience that women
had 11 percent more brain cells in the regions near the temples, one crucial for
understanding language in the left hemisphere, and for recognizing melodies and
tonal qualities in speech in the right.
This apparently dovetails with the claim of Moir and Jessel that, as a result of
different levels of exposure to sex hormone at birth, brains work along different lines

Greek Critique
Critique of the Greeks
Every year, thousands of new college freshmen join on campus groups, in search of
their home away from home. Some students chose jobs, while others join Newman
groups and sports clubs. A popular choice for an on campus home is the Greek
community. College sororities and fraternities are often the subjects of hot debates:
what can students gain by going Greek? Do they really do more, than just hold
socials? Asel, Seifert and Pascerella wrote an article to answer these questions.
While Asel, Seifert, and Pascarella wrote a high quality article about Greek Life
that provides an ample amount of evidence to support their opinions and a logical
flow of ideas, the article falls short by having a bias favoring these ... Show more

Because the article was written in response to a study about Greek life, one would
think that the article would have next to no bias. This was not the case. The
authors hinted their favor for Greek life by describing how fraternity/sorority
members may be natural partners for serving in leadership roles, (Asel, Seifert,
Pascarella 6). In addition, it was also mentioned that following college, those
involved in Greek life had stronger personal/interpersonal skills, skills that are
exceptionally useful in today s work place (Asel, Seifert, Pascarella 7). While the
authors never directly come out and offer their supports for fraternities and sororities,
they show their bias towards these organizations with their word choices. Words
like natural born leaders and leadership roles, and highlighting the strong social skills
gained from Greek life is what makes the reader feel like a bias is present in the
Freshman Studies
Alexander Graham Bell once said, Before anything else, preparation is the key to
success ( Alexander Graham Bell quote , n.d.). Freshman studies is a great class,
because it teaches plenty of things that you can use to prepare for the future. Like
any other class, however, you must be prepared for it, as it will not be very easy.
Here are some ways that students coming into this class can be prepared. First off,
students need to expect from themselves for this class. One key thing they should
not do is to procrastinate. There will be mostly projects in this class, so
procrastinating can really destroy your grades. Also remember to cite in APA
format, because if there are no citations, it will become a zero. Lastly, just like any
other class, students should do their best with their work in this class. It does sound
like a lot, since that is just only some of the important things, but eventually, it
should become easier overtime. At least, for me, it did. In Freshman Studies, the
students will learn many important lessons. I believe the most important lesson that
they will learn in this class is to spend their time wisely in class. Sometimes, the
entire class period will be given to the students to work on something they need to
do. There is bound to be at least a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How I believe that this quote will impact the students is that even though they are

example, a student says that they can really do it and that they will prove it. What
good is that if the student has no idea what they re doing or if they don t have the

to do it in a tongue that the public is not familiar with, you will be driving the
wrong way on a very fast one way highway, and find yourself in an accident of a
sort. In The Cosmopolitan Tongue: The Universality of English by John
McWhorter, I find he takes a more scientific approach on the use of language. After
all he is a linguist and political commentator. But I can t say I disagree with what
he says. Inevitably, I guess in the future there will only be a handful of languages.

did notice they all had something in common, other than the urge to blow each other

It is only on Sunday that the Christians gather in churches to pray and sing to the
Lord. That is the only commemoration present nowadays in Christianity. Others, like
Christmas, Easter and All Saints Day are obviously not having any effect on the
workplace. Food is definitely not a matter as well.

My group members and I equally divided the work, in the sense that Mohamed Sheikh
Ali Musse and Mohamed Abdi Muse interviewed the different persons by interacting
with them through e mails, although it was hard to get anyone from Judaism or
Sikhism in Malaysia but we will make an assumption for Judaism. Abdel Jallal Ziat
compiled everything in a comprehensive report which shows how the different

religions are connected to the Islamic dogma in their message of peace, harmony, and

Research Paper On Santa
Everyone loves Santa s magical reindeer and his giant sleigh filled with amazing
presents! People love Santa for his jolly mood and what he does for the whole world
on Christmas. There are many questions that are asked about Santa but the most
important question is where does Santa live?
Santa lives in a magical place filled with little elves running around. He lives in a
little village called the North Pole. Christmas presents are stored at the North Pole.
Everyone talks about the North Pole because of how much snow there is and how
the Christmas trees are perfect and pretty. Santa s reindeer live at the North Pole,
where they can eat as many carrots as they want. Every letter a child writes to Santa
is sent to the North Pole. Santa has a
Difference Between Conservatism And Liberalism
INTRODUCTION
The term liberalism has a variety of meanings nowadays. Freedom or liberty for
each and every individual is the main aim of the philosophy of liberalism. Freedom
had different concepts in different periods of time in the history and therefore the
programs of liberalism were also different in those time periods. However the main
aim always remained the same. Liberalism not only believed in human nature was
good but it also believed that humans were rational. It supposes that, as people have a
logical intellect, they have the ability to identify different challenges and problems
and solve them. This will thus improve the human condition systematically.
Conservatism, on the other hand, is the opposite doctrine of liberalism.
Conservatism, simply we can say that, supports the preservation of the status quo.
Hence we can see that liberalism is a worldview founded on the ideas of liberty and
equality. Liberals generally believe in free and fair elections, freedom of press,
freedom of religion, private property and civil right.
Liberalism first developed in the western world. It became famous among
philosophers and economists during the era of Enlightenment. At that point of time
absolute monarchy, state religion and hereditary privilege was the prevailing system.

In International Relations that era is normally referred to as Idealism. With the
birth of United Nations Organization, liberalism once again gained momentum. But
later with the start of cold war power politics the rays of hope also seemed to fade
away. Then when the cold war ended the hopes for liberalism also emerged back.
Liberal intellectuals made many justifications as to why liberalism should be the
supreme over other competing ideologies. Liberals are generally very much
optimistic therefore liberalism is generally described in literature as the tradition of
The Things They Carried Jimmy Cross Symbolism
In the novel The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien describes the symbolic roles
of the objects a soldier had. Throughout the novel, all soldiers carried something that
symbolize their experience in the time of war. A great example is lieutenant Jimmy
Cross, who carried both physical and emotional things in his time and experience
during the war in Vietnam.
One of the three physical things Jimmy Cross carried were maps, since he is a
lieutenant in the Vietnam war, it symbolizes that he is a leader with leadership
qualities. It also shows that he had skills to maintain soldiers during time of war
and that he is a valuable person to the other soldiers to stay alive, holding the
responsibility of the lives of his men. The other thing Jimmy carried were letters
from Martha. They were not love letters, but Jimmy Cross was hoping for her love,
so he kept the letters and took them everywhere he went. He was aware of the fact
that she did not love him the way he loved her but kept the letters anyways,
symbolizing hope, which is a great leadership skill. After a days march, he would ...

It was something that symbolized hope for Jimmy during war. Even though going
through the reality of war, he chose to keep the love for Martha to most likely get
his mind off the terror. Other things he carried were grief and terror of the men
who died and might die. Lieutenant Jimmy Cross is responsible for him men,
probably making him the most effected when something happens to his soldiers.
The reality of war is that people die, people are scarred with the experience, and
people just give up. Jimmy Cross carries the emotional baggage of grief when his
men start to die. He also carries the terror of being there because he is also a soldier
in war, fighting and trying to stay alive while trying to keep his men alive as well.
These are the intangible things Cross carries but it has tangible weight, effecting
The War Of 1812 Was Terrible For Americans
1)Introduction a)The War of 1812 was terrible for Americans because of disunity
and there was no angry spirit like the Chesapeake incident, but nationalism
emerged 2)On to Canada over Land and Lakes a)The soldiers in the War of 1812
were ill trained and were not prepared for war. b)The strategy used for attacking
Canada was poorly planned because instead of attacking Montreal, the center of
population, the plan was spilt into 3 invasions of Detroit, Niagara, and Lake
Champlain c)The British and Canadians had captured the American fort at
Michilimackinac that had controlled the Great Lakes and the Indian area in the
south and west, which was commanded by Isaac Brock i)The control of Great
Lakes was important, in which Oliver Hazard Perry built ships on Lake Eerie and
captured the British fleet ii) While the British were leaving Detroit and Fort
Malden, they were attacked by General Harrison s army at Battle of Thames
d)There were some improvements, such as the American navy having more success
than the army and there were better gunners e)Americans protected their own
country against the conquering British. Napoleon was exiled to Elba later and
America was alone to face the war while more red coats went to Canada f)The

Central Nervous And Peripheral Nervous System
My most interested system is the nervous system. The nervous system is made up of
the brain, the spinal cord, and nerves. One of the most important systems in your
body, the nervous system is your body s control system. It sends, receives, and
processes nerve impulses throughout the body. Together, these organs are responsible
for the control of the body and communication among its parts. The nervous system
has two major parts: the central nervous system(CNS) and the peripheral nervous
system (PNS).
The central nervous system is the primary center of the body. It is composed of the
brain, nerves, and spinal cord. It processes, guide movement and send out sensations
throughout the body. The brain sits right in the skull and have four parts to it, the
brain stem, cerebrum, cerebellum, and the diencephalon. The spinal cord is a long
tube that connects to the brain and down the back of the body. It has 31 segments
and there are pair of spinal nerves in each segment. Both motor and sensory nerves
are in the spinal cord. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such as eyes, ears, skin, and other sensory receptors . The peripheral nervous system
is made up of two parts, somatic nervous system and autonomic nervous system. The
somatic system picks up sensory information and its carried to the central nervous
system. They also consist of the motor nerve fibers. It sends messages for movement
and acts to the skeletal muscle. It sends messages to the brain to give the muscle to
give action. The autonomic nervous system is made up of three parts; sympathetic
nervous system, parasympathetic nervous system, and enteric nervous system.
System controls organs in the body where humans cannot. Like, heartbeat, digestion,

Red Bull- Consumer Behavior
RedBull
While working on this report, we tried to figure out the best way to go about
completing a consumer analysis for Redbull. Initially, we were confused as to what to
tackle first: the marketing strategy or the consumer profile? We figured that both the
marketing and the communication strategy of Redbull in Pakistan were based on or
rather for a very specific type of consumer. So our first task (in order to understand
this consumer type, as well as the dynamics of Redbull s marketing strategy) was to
review the nature of the product, and establish a consumer profile for it.
Redbull is an energy drink, developed specially for periods of increased mental and
physical exertion in humans. It aims at increasing ... Show more content on

Now that we have established the consumer profile for the average consumer of
Redbull and highlighted the nature of the product itself, we will proceed by
delineating these factors relationship to the marketing strategy of Redbull. Redbull
is priced at Rs.100 per can in the market. It officially grants the retailer an incentive
of Rs.10 per can, even though smaller retailers charge Rs.110 (driving their profit
to Rs.20 per can). Considering the fact that it is a relatively expensive beverage, it
is placed in medium to large sized shopping malls. Large shopping malls are also
provided with little refrigerators in the shape of a Redbull can (see appendix 1 for
picture) by the company for advertisement purposes.
Armed with the knowledge that the average consumer also smokes cigarettes, the
Redbull company ensures that cans are also sold at major tobacco shops in Lahore
such as Tobacco Masters and Abdul s Tobacco. They can also be found at popular
khokas such as Two Guy Pan Shop in Fortress or Jaidi Pan Shop in Defence.
During our research we found that the correlation between smoking and drinking
Redbull was indeed quite strong as the average tobacco shop sold about 48 cans per
day, while the average grocery store sold about 8 9 cans per day (not taking into
account large shopping malls).
Redbull is also placed at shops within colleges and some schools. It can
Elementary Years Research Paper
My elementary years can be described in one word, melodramatic. I went to a small
private school names Victory in the Perryton Texas. My class had a around 15 kids
in it and it only got smaller with each year. In preschool and kindergarten, my mom
decided to homeschool me. In other words i didn t really learn anything, i just had
more time to be a kid. I loved and when it came time to starting first grade i was
actually very excited to be in school. Unfortunately i was quite a bit behind. I didn t
know how to read, spell anything, and i was so much slower than the rest of my
class when it came to completing my assignments. The whole i was one of the last
kids in the class to complete all of the assignments. Then one day my principal, who

teacher was crazy. One day a boy farted in one of my classes and after making him
shamefully spray the room with febreze, she made him stand in the hallway the
rest of the day. That s also the year i learned how to spell Mississippi. At the of my

How Is Blanche Dubois A Tragic Hero
In A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, Blanche Dubois is the tragic
hero of the work. She is a confident woman who is capable of doing great things.
However, her own flaws and circumstances both go hand and hand and lead to her
downfall. There were multiple things that were completely out of Blanche s
control that led to the eventual mental breakdown. The first of many is the loss of
her childhood home and family. Blanche s sister, Stella, had already left her to go
build a life with her husband, so when she continues to lose things that tie her to the
place she grew up, it plays a big role in her mental instability. Blanche is clearly
shaken when telling her sister that she lost Belle Reve, Stella describes her episode
as a hysterical outburst. (Williams 25 26) She loses her husband when he commits

tune that they were playing when Allan Wait! Blanche continues to explain that it

last pages of the play. (137) The last outside circumstance that contributed to her
destruction is Stanley raping her. (130) Stanley had a clear distaste for her since the
start of the play. Blanche and Stanley have tension throughout, but it all clearly leads
up to the rape scene. When Blanche finally reaches her breaking point, and has a

In recent years, people have gotten more comfortable putting blue on their lips or
using pink eyeliner. People are starting to look at their faces as canvases and are
expressing themselves more freely. Makeup is turning into an art form instead of
just a way to enhance natural beauty. Some people are getting very creative with
colors and having themes for their face. Companies such as NYX and Kylie
Jenner have capitalized on this bright color trend. NYX is an inexpensive brand
that has come out with a line of mascara/brow gel, eyeliners, and lipsticks in colors
not typically found on a face. Kylie Jenner has used her family name and fame to
launch her company, along with showcasing unique shades of lipsticks on
Instagram. Kylie s most recent colors to be launched are sapphire and aqua, both
being blue lipsticks. Expressing oneself via makeup has become more common.
People of all genders, races, and ages, are getting exceedingly more creative with
how they apply their makeup. It is a time where there is no right or wrong way to
apply makeup. Everyone experiments and does what makes them happy. It is no
wonder people are becoming more used to mean wearing makeup, or seeing
someone with blue mascara. This reflects what a wonderful time we live in where
people can accept everyone s vision of
Adolescence In Irving Washington, The Devil And Tom
Walker
Adolescence is a fundamental part of development of characteristics, as youth grow,
they indulge immaturity and naivety. Temptation is a primary initial in Irving
Washington, The Devil and Tom Walker(1824). The story foreshadowed the deal

exchange for materialism. Adolescents today foretell the themes of the deal with the

the devil criticizes Deacon Peabody for being blind to his own sins and focusing
too much on the sins of others. This reflects to modern times how adolescents are
hypocritical. Adolescents are intrusive but desire privacy. Despite of adolescents
lack of judgement they revere an individual s truth being, Since the red men have

he had sold his soul to the devil and by doing so he destroyed himself, and morals.

Disadvantages Of International Trust Law
The International Trust Law (No. 69/1992) legislation facilitates the formation and
administration of an international trust. The law built on the existing Cyprus trust
legislation of 1995 (The Trustees Law, CAP. 193). The amendment of Cyprus trust
legislation introduces innovative provisions and provides considerable incentives for
the establishment of trusts in Cyprus. Furthermore, Cyprus becomes an attractive
centre for international trusts. As a result, new investment opportunities have emerged.

Enterprise Risk Management
Introduction
The business environment is constantly changing; it is unpredictable, extremely
volatile and complex. This makes businesses exposed to risk because of the nature of
the environment. It is therefore important for businesses to make strategic decisions
on how to either reduce or make the effect of the risk less severe as much as possible.
Businesses have to identify and manage their risks to ensure their success and
continuation. According to the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the
Treadway Commission (COSO), Uncertainties present both risks and opportunities,
with potential to erode or enhance value.i Risk management is an increasingly
important business driver and stakeholders have become much more concerned
about risk. The 2008 2009 global financial crisis and the rapidly deteriorating global
economy has created a context in which companies now face risks that are more
complex, more interconnected, and potentially more devastating than ever before.
Failure to adequately acknowledge and effectively manage risks associated with
decisions being made throughout the organization can and often do lead to
potentially catastrophic results.ii Risk may be a driver of strategic decisions, it may
be a cause of uncertainty in the organization or it may simply be embedded in the
activities of the organization. A good Risk Management program means that the
company is able, first of all to identify, then to measure risks, to project, to
The Structural Strain Theory Has Occurred
When socially accepted goals cannot be reached through legitimate means, the
structural strain theory has occurred. A mismatch that occurs between legitimate
means and socially promoted goals has a typology of responses in the strain theory.
Merton s typology extends the functionalist perspective. He believed that larger
deviancy rates were because of social conditions and the varying responses. One of
the responses to social strain that accepts legitimate means of pursuing socially
promoted goals is conformity. Another response to social strain is ritualism. People
reject or give up the socially approved goal, but continue pursuing other goals
through the same legitimate means (MindEdge, 2015).

Jack Johnson. The documentary is about the barriers Jack Johnson had to overcome
to satisfy his hunger for becoming the best and living The American Dream. Johnson

Johnson followed Jeffries from town to town. Jeffries, however, refused to fight a
black boxer and instead decided to retire undefeated. (Unforgivable Blackness). The
Championship was handed over to a white named Tommy Burns, who as well
declined to fight Johnson but eventually gave in at the cost of thirty thousand
dollars. In the year 1908, Johnson knocked out Burns in the sixteenth round, to win
the title and create history. He was a fast and brilliant defensive boxer who fought
at a time when white champions like John L. Sullivan and James Jeffries refused to
fight black fighters. Jeffries retired rather than face Johnson, but he returned six
years later when the clamor for a great white hope could not be ignored (Sandomir

his way, from bottom to the top. Through perseverance and relentlessness, Johnson
had achieved his dream. As success kissed Johnsons feet, he became more and more
well known throughout the nation. With that being said, he began to feel that he

radio and television for news and entertainment, forced Americans to think more
about the country s role in global affairs. The 1940s was a decade that transformed
the lives of millions and set the tone for future social, political and economic
reforms in the U.S. ( The History of American Journalism). The advances in radio
helped keep the population updated just as we do know. The radio was more often
used for news broadcast than anything else because that s exactly what the people

Top 40 morning show in the US ( Elvis Duran Net Worth). Duran got reward for his

The Happiest Refugee Summary
Ahn had not left this oppressive environment, he would have grown up in extreme
poverty and would be a very different person due to the trauma that poverty causes.
Refugees are here to escape poverty and persecution; because they have
experienced severe trauma, they are at a much higher risk of psychiatric illness
than the general population. I believe that these statistics can be reduced if our
negative attitude towards marginalized groups changes. Because of the media and
government induced stereotypes, Australians often show disdain towards refugees.
This inhibits their adjustment to Australian society and creates further division
among us. The Happiest Refugee is a valuable resource in the fight against racism
because it shows that refugees share our values, embrace our culture and are eager
to contribute to Australian society, and I strongly support it s inclusion in the
Rochedale State High School English program. One of the reasons why I found
The Happiest Refugee to be enjoyable and impactful is the use of various aesthetic
devices; including vivid imagery and humour. Ahn does not simply tell his story;
instead, he uses descriptive and emotive language to paint a picture in the reader s
mind. This allows us to imagine that we were there and connect with the situation
emotionally. An example of imagery in this autobiography is when Ahn shows us
what it is like to be a boat person . He describes his traumatic experience at sea by
using language such as The sky
The Relationship Between The Kongolese And The
Portuguese...
Introduction The Portuguese first made contact with the Kongolese in the 1400s
sparking a long and varied relationship between the two kingdoms. In order to better
understand how this relationship played a part in the trade, colonization, and warfare
of this region of Africa, the following paper will discuss the relationship between the
Kongolese and the Portuguese up until the Battle of Mbwila, what occurred at the
Battle of Mbwila, and how this battle effectively destroyed the Kingdom of Kongoin
the latter part of the 17th century.
The Kongo Kingdom Portuguese Angola The predecessors of many Angolans
moved from different parts of Africa much sooner than the arrival of the first
Portuguese in the late 1400s. By the time of the Portuguese s landing in Africa, the
Kongo Kingdom was already founded in the northwestern part of modern day
Angola. The first Portuguese to explore the Congo River had many intentions. They
planned to bring religion, to promote European ideas of civilization, to find and use
resources, and eventually to build up the slave trade. By the mid 1400s, the Kongo
Kingdom was the most influential of the states located along Africa s Atlantic
coastline. The kingdom had been founded in the late 1300s by a party of Bakongo,
which is the plural for Kongolese individuals. These Bakongo had ventured south of
the Congo River into northwestern Angola. The Bakongo then defeated the local
population and built the capital city of Mbanza Kongo, which translates as
Compare And Contrast Proctor And Jeremiad
The jeremiad is that God will reward good behavior or he will punish those who do
not fear or conform to his wrath. Puritans believe in the jeremiad. Puritans were a
protestant religion that had a simple and religious life. They believed that hard work
was the key to getting into heaven and they were scared of hell. They had many
restrictions and rules so that they would not disobey Godand would be able to get
into heaven. Puritans believed that God could be cruel and angry with them if they
ever did anything bad, so they feared him. In Of Plymouth Plantation and from
Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, the two writers are very similar in their use
of jeremiad.
There was a proud and very profane young man, one of the seamen...he would
always be contemning the poor people in their sickness and cursing them daily with
grievous execrations; and did not let to tell them that he hoped to cast half of them
overboard before they came to their journey s end, and to make merry with what
they had; and if he were by any gently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, jeremiad is comparable to karma. Karma is the belief that whatever
you do will come back around to you. For example, if one does a good deed, they
will receive something good in return. Or if one does something bad, they will
receive something bad in return. An example of jeremiad in my life (or karma),
occurred when I was working. One day a woman came in with her children and she
could not afford to buy her children popcorn. The children really wanted some and
you could tell how terrible the mother felt that she could not give her children any.
I then offered to buy the popcorn for them, and she graciously accepted. The next
day, I was out to eat with my family and someone anonymously payed for our entire
meal. This is an example of jeremiad because I did something good, or nice, and in
return I was rewarded with a nice
Disobedience Wrong
Disobedience is a valuable human trait, it promotes progress in society, and social
correctness. It is one of the most basic and powerful tools for adaption and
evolution mankind has ever possessed. Wrong does not cease to be wrong because
the majority share in it. (Leo Tolstoy, A Confession). If those that believe they are
right do not put their opinions out there, or fight for what they believe in, the wrong
majority shall never change. If no one questions what they are taught, nothing
changes, and if they are wrong they shall never know. Change for better or worse is
not for the weak it is for the brave, and those who disobey the natural order are the
ones who make change and bring the normalcy of any situation into question. Right is

Effects Of Corruption In Madagascar
How has the problem in the country impacted it and what is the solution?
Corruption and weak rule of law are major problems in Madagascar, this is due to
government officials taking most of the profit of the country, so steps need to be
taken to ensure that most of the countries profit is given to strengthen the
infrastructure.
Even though Madagascar got its independence in 1960 it is still run much like a
colony. The economy is closely tied to resource extraction. The lack of investment
in Madagascar s companies has reduced the economic growth a lot. The big tilt to
making this a major problem was in 2009. Now corruption looms large in nearly
every sector and every scale of Malagasy society. From police officers to professors,
city governments to international cooperation, bribery and ... Show more content on

There is wealth inequality, imbalance in resource distribution, wealth gap, poverty,
etc. the proportion of the population living under the poverty line (which was
already high before the crisis), may have increased by more than 10 percentage.
With more than 92 percent of the population living under $2 a day, Madagascar is
now one of the poorest countries in the world. (8) This impacts how people go
about their daily lives. The common people have a basic lifestyle. Even before the
corruption started the Malagasy society was very poor and was trying to rebuild its
economy after the kleptomaniac rule of the French. The average Malagasy is 45%
poorer than they were in 1960 (8) This is a drastic change to the people and instead
of trying to rebuild the economy, the economy is once again being robbed of it s
wealth. In the short term the infrastructure is failing. Ex. the roads aren t maintained,
food shortages, clothes store shutting down, public funded schools lack supplies and
teachers, etc. Even though the short term impact is pretty bad the long term impact is
even

Thomas Paine Common Sense Essay.pdf

  • 1. Thomas Paine Common Sense Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "Thomas Paine Common Sense" can present both challenges and opportunities for exploration. On one hand, delving into the profound ideas and revolutionary sentiments expressed by Thomas Paine in his iconic work requires a deep understanding of historical context, political philosophy, and the intricacies of 18th-century American society. Paine's persuasive and incisive writing style adds another layer of complexity, demanding careful analysis to capture the essence of his arguments. Moreover, crafting an essay on this topic involves navigating through Paine's nuanced critique of monarchy, his advocacy for independence, and the strategic use of rhetoric to mobilize public sentiment. The challenge lies in balancing a comprehensive examination of Paine's ideas with a coherent and well-structured essay that effectively communicates the significance of "Common Sense" in shaping the trajectory of the American Revolution. Additionally, the research aspect may pose difficulties, requiring access to reliable historical sources and scholarly works to provide a robust foundation for the analysis. Ensuring accuracy in portraying Paine's impact on the revolutionary spirit of the time adds another layer of responsibility. Despite these challenges, the essay presents an exciting opportunity for intellectual engagement and the exploration of pivotal moments in history. It offers a chance to appreciate Paine's contributions to the foundation of American independence and to connect those ideas with broader historical and philosophical themes. In conclusion, writing an essay on "Thomas Paine Common Sense" demands a careful balance of historical insight, critical analysis, and effective communication. • 2. Essay On Guy Montag Amy Walker Cummings English 2 September 2016 Stopping Society Guy Montag is a fireman who burns books for a living. Ever heard of a fireman who burns books for a living? This book has quite a few shocking events in it. We learn about Montage s society, their laws, rules and procedures that they must follow. Not only that, but how Montag is changed from a fireman who burns books and has no cares or worried in the world about what he does for a living, to a man who has woken up from what society has made him out to be, to being someone whom cares about literature and the future of books and we discover his secret stash of books. In the beginning we are given this impression of Montag that he is confident and arrogant. He might wink at himself, a minstrel man, burnt crocked in the mirror. And as before, it was good to burn.. ( Bradbury 110) . Just like in the begging of the book Montag finds a pleasure to burn, but this time for a good reason he sees it as burning all the bad memories and proof that he lived there and lived that life and went through all the things he went through how he let society control him. More than 8.5 million Toyota cars and trucks have been recalled. Drivers have complained of cars careering out of control at 65mph while overtaking, and negotiating roundabouts so fast that it felt like their car was on two wheels. A mechanical fault, caused by a combination of wear and cold and wet weather, Toyota believes, means that the accelerator pedal sometimes sticks down. Around 10,000 Toyota owners have so far contacted a hotline to air concerns. Toyota was overwhelmed by massive product recalls and damage to its reputation after questions over the safety of its cars and allegations that the company did not act quickly enough once problems had been identified. The problem commenced when one duty police officer and his family back in August 2009 after their car, a Toyota Lexus, unexpectedly accelerated, crashed into another vehicle, tumbled over an embankment and burst into flames lead to the death of the man. Initial company reports identified that the car may have been fitted with the wrong floor mats, which could have slipped and entrapped the accelerator pedal. The problems began to increase for Toyota.

As outlined in the Jasper reading, holding the trial in Israel, was a strategic and political decision (Jaspers, 2006). As was discussed in lecture, the choice to hold the trial in Israel, was made to fuel the opinion that Israel was the land where the Jewish community was safe, despite Israel s complicity in the horrendous actions that were committed during the Holocaust (Tasson: Course Slides (W6)). The choice to hold the trial in Israel was an unfair decision, that was made to promote Israel s pro Jewish perception, and put the metaphorical stake in Eichmann s coffin (Tasson: Course Slides (W6)). But there is a lot of argument about whether a similar thing occurs in humans. There are indeed many documented differences between the sexes in humans, rats and guinea pigs. However, the best known are in deep regions that control sexual behaviour, a find that is hardly surprising. It was only last year that scientists announced they had found differences in the thin rind on the surface of the brain responsible for higher intellectual abilities. Sandra Witelson, of McMaster University, told the US Society of Neuroscience that women had 11 percent more brain cells in the regions near the temples, one crucial for understanding language in the left hemisphere, and for recognizing melodies and tonal qualities in speech in the right. Description My group members and I equally divided the work, in the sense that Mohamed Sheikh Ali Musse and Mohamed Abdi Muse interviewed the different persons by interacting with them through e mails, although it was hard to get anyone from Judaism or Sikhism in Malaysia but we will make an assumption for Judaism. Abdel Jallal Ziat compiled everything in a comprehensive report which shows how the different religions interact between each other. We appreciate the fact that all of these religions are connected to the Islamic dogma in their message of peace, harmony, and fairness. It simply shows how Islam is the root of everything and that people deviated from the True Path for whatsoever reasons. We have been spending two weeks to finalize this assignment even though we did not really meet for several reasons (other assignments, lack of time) and fortunately it was enough for us to understand each other and be in tune with the differences and reconcile them. • 23. Difference Between Conservatism And Liberalism INTRODUCTION The term liberalism has a variety of meanings nowadays. Freedom or liberty for each and every individual is the main aim of the philosophy of liberalism. Freedom had different concepts in different periods of time in the history and therefore the programs of liberalism were also different in those time periods. However the main aim always remained the same. Liberalism not only believed in human nature was good but it also believed that humans were rational. It supposes that, as people have a logical intellect, they have the ability to identify different challenges and problems and solve them. This will thus improve the human condition systematically. Conservatism, on the other hand, is the opposite doctrine of liberalism. Conservatism, simply we can say that, supports the preservation of the status quo. Hence we can see that liberalism is a worldview founded on the ideas of liberty and equality. Liberals generally believe in free and fair elections, freedom of press, freedom of religion, private property and civil right. Liberalism first developed in the western world. It became famous among philosophers and economists during the era of Enlightenment. At that point of time absolute monarchy, state religion and hereditary privilege was the prevailing system. ... But later with the start of cold war power politics the rays of hope also seemed to fade away. Then when the cold war ended the hopes for liberalism also emerged back. Liberal intellectuals made many justifications as to why liberalism should be the supreme over other competing ideologies. Liberals are generally very much optimistic therefore liberalism is generally described in literature as the tradition of

This makes businesses exposed to risk because of the nature of the environment. It is therefore important for businesses to make strategic decisions on how to either reduce or make the effect of the risk less severe as much as possible. Businesses have to identify and manage their risks to ensure their success and continuation. The Happiest Refugee Summary Ahn had not left this oppressive environment, he would have grown up in extreme poverty and would be a very different person due to the trauma that poverty causes. Refugees are here to escape poverty and persecution; because they have experienced severe trauma, they are at a much higher risk of psychiatric illness than the general population. I believe that these statistics can be reduced if our negative attitude towards marginalized groups changes. Because of the media and government induced stereotypes, Australians often show disdain towards refugees. This inhibits their adjustment to Australian society and creates further division among us. The Happiest Refugee is a valuable resource in the fight against racism because it shows that refugees share our values, embrace our culture and are eager to contribute to Australian society, and I strongly support it s inclusion in the Rochedale State High School English program. One of the reasons why I found The Happiest Refugee to be enjoyable and impactful is the use of various aesthetic devices; including vivid imagery and humour. Ahn does not simply tell his story; instead, he uses descriptive and emotive language to paint a picture in the reader s mind. The Kongo Kingdom Portuguese Angola The predecessors of many Angolans moved from different parts of Africa much sooner than the arrival of the first Portuguese in the late 1400s. By the time of the Portuguese s landing in Africa, the Kongo Kingdom was already founded in the northwestern part of modern day Angola. The first Portuguese to explore the Congo River had many intentions. They planned to bring religion, to promote European ideas of civilization, to find and use resources, and eventually to build up the slave trade. By the mid 1400s, the Kongo Kingdom was the most influential of the states located along Africa s Atlantic coastline. The kingdom had been founded in the late 1300s by a party of Bakongo, which is the plural for Kongolese individuals. These Bakongo had ventured south of the Congo River into northwestern Angola. The Bakongo then defeated the local population and built the capital city of Mbanza Kongo, which translates as
  • 42. Compare And Contrast Proctor And Jeremiad The jeremiad is that God will reward good behavior or he will punish those who do not fear or conform to his wrath. Puritans believe in the jeremiad. Puritans were a protestant religion that had a simple and religious life. They believed that hard work was the key to getting into heaven and they were scared of hell. They had many restrictions and rules so that they would not disobey Godand would be able to get into heaven. Puritans believed that God could be cruel and angry with them if they ever did anything bad, so they feared him. In Of Plymouth Plantation and from Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, the two writers are very similar in their use of jeremiad. There was a proud and very profane young man, one of the seamen...he would always be contemning the poor people in their sickness and cursing them daily with grievous execrations; and did not let to tell them that he hoped to cast half of them overboard before they came to their journey s end, and to make merry with what they had; and if he were by any gently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my opinion, jeremiad is comparable to karma. Karma is the belief that whatever you do will come back around to you. For example, if one does a good deed, they will receive something good in return. Or if one does something bad, they will receive something bad in return. An example of jeremiad in my life (or karma), occurred when I was working. One day a woman came in with her children and she could not afford to buy her children popcorn. The children really wanted some and you could tell how terrible the mother felt that she could not give her children any. I then offered to buy the popcorn for them, and she graciously accepted. The next day, I was out to eat with my family and someone anonymously payed for our entire meal. This is an example of jeremiad because I did something good, or nice, and in return I was rewarded with a nice
  • 43. Disobedience Wrong Disobedience is a valuable human trait, it promotes progress in society, and social correctness. It is one of the most basic and powerful tools for adaption and evolution mankind has ever possessed. Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it. (Leo Tolstoy, A Confession). If those that believe they are right do not put their opinions out there, or fight for what they believe in, the wrong majority shall never change. If no one questions what they are taught, nothing changes, and if they are wrong they shall never know. Change for better or worse is not for the weak it is for the brave, and those who disobey the natural order are the ones who make change and bring the normalcy of any situation into question. Right is

  • 45. Effects Of Corruption In Madagascar How has the problem in the country impacted it and what is the solution? Corruption and weak rule of law are major problems in Madagascar, this is due to government officials taking most of the profit of the country, so steps need to be taken to ensure that most of the countries profit is given to strengthen the infrastructure. Even though Madagascar got its independence in 1960 it is still run much like a colony. The economy is closely tied to resource extraction. The lack of investment in Madagascar s companies has reduced the economic growth a lot. The big tilt to making this a major problem was in 2009. Now corruption looms large in nearly every sector and every scale of Malagasy society. From police officers to professors, city governments to international cooperation, bribery and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is wealth inequality, imbalance in resource distribution, wealth gap, poverty, etc. the proportion of the population living under the poverty line (which was already high before the crisis), may have increased by more than 10 percentage. With more than 92 percent of the population living under $2 a day, Madagascar is now one of the poorest countries in the world. (8) This impacts how people go about their daily lives. The common people have a basic lifestyle. Even before the corruption started the Malagasy society was very poor and was trying to rebuild its economy after the kleptomaniac rule of the French. The average Malagasy is 45% poorer than they were in 1960 (8) This is a drastic change to the people and instead of trying to rebuild the economy, the economy is once again being robbed of it s wealth. In the short term the infrastructure is failing. Ex. the roads aren t maintained, food shortages, clothes store shutting down, public funded schools lack supplies and teachers, etc. Even though the short term impact is pretty bad the long term impact is even
