Writing an essay on the topic of "Essay Proofreading Services" can prove to be a challenging
task for various reasons. First and foremost, one needs to delve into the intricacies of the
proofreading process itself, understanding the importance of meticulous editing and error
detection. This involves a deep comprehension of grammar rules, punctuation nuances, and style

Furthermore, addressing the significance of professional proofreading services requires a
thorough exploration of the potential consequences of neglecting this critical step in the writing

Moreover, discussing the various tools and techniques employed by proofreading services
necessitates a certain level of technical knowledge. This may include familiarity with advanced
grammar-checking software, style guides, and industry standards. Providing a comprehensive

Film Analysis Of Zootopia
Zootopia (Howard 2016) is an animated film of Zootopia s first ever bunny cop,
who overcomes various obstacles, while working with an edgy, prideful, con artist
fox, to uncover a conspiracy. I will argue that formal elements, including low key
lighting, mise en scene, editing, and framing portrays real world issues of how
discriminationand stereotypes affect people, or in this case, predators. Throughout
the film, predators are marginalized and affected by various stereotypes, the press
conference scene proves this argument. During this scene, framing portrays the
emotions of Nick Wilde, as he listens to a press conference, in support of his friend
Judy Hopps. As Hopps digs deeper into the facts of the case, she derails giving
some input on why predators are having vicious outbreaks. Without her knowledge,
her comments come off as discriminatory to Wilde, and his reaction clearly shows
his discomfort. The scene begins with a med shot of Wilde, beginning with a
change of pace in his breathing, he begins to breathe slower, heavier, sticking out
his chest, as his posture fluctuations, showing he is surprised with her comments.
Wilde s ears perk back and his eyes widen as his head tilts, by the look on his face,
the expression of disturbance is evident. As Wilde attempts to get a better look at
Hopps presentation, a close up of Wilde occurs. This enhances his emotions, in effect
of the remarks being made. Wilde continues to breathe heavier and heavier, while his

psychology and sociology to delve into what polyamory is, why it is considered
unacceptable, and how those involved in polyamorous relationships deal with it on a

Collaborative Learning Practices
Krischner et al. (2006) in there article describes the social and cognitive factors
driving teamwork in collaborative learning environments; mainly he focused on team
learning beliefs and behaviors by performing different experiments. According to him
a team is more than a group of individuals in the same space either physical or
virtual. This article describes when and how teams in collaborative learning
environments engage in building and maintaining mutually shared cognition and
reveals conditions in the interpersonal context that contribute to engage in knowledge
building practices. They present a team learning belief and behaviors model which is

Shylock of William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice
Shylock is one of the main characters in Shakespeare s play The Merchant of
Venice , he starts in the play as an outcast of society because he is Jewish. Shylock
has been forced to become a banker in his life as an inhabitant of Venice, for the fact
that his religion is seen as wrong. Although Shylock is forced to become a banker he
plays a vital role in the city of Venice, without Shylock the city would struggle
economically. From an early point in the play Shakespeare makes Shylock look like
a money loving fiend, Shylocks first words in the play are Three Thousand ducats.

Shylock seems to show that he wants something to go wrong for Antonio and
Shylock feels that he deserves revenge. Seeing that Shylock is so eager to secure
revenge upon any one he can, the audience is lead to believe that Shylock is a
deeper and darker person than previously believed. Not only do all characters in the
play feel something about Shylock is wrong but so does the audience. As Shylock is
portrayed as a dark and mysterious character there is little support for him until it
becomes apparent that there is more reason for Shylock to seek revenge than
previously believed.
In Act I scene III after the deal to lend Antonio three thousand ducats is secured
Bassanio asks Shylock to dine with him but Shylock is quick to turn down the
offer, as Bassanio would insult Shylocks religion if the food were not kosher.
Shylock turns down the offer of dinner for a fairly strong reason, but once Antonio
arrives in person Shylock gives more reason to be disliked. Antonio and friends are
stood in a group when Shylock turns away and under his breath says,
I hate him for he is a Christian.
Although Shylock is turned away from the group Antonio still hears his spiteful
words.
This shows the villainous side to Shylock and although the reasons for such dislike
towards Antonio and friends is just, there is no need for the

Life at home and life at school are two very distinct worlds. Life at home is
working to help or support the family, meanwhile life at school is doing homework
and studying for classes and tests. Balancing life between school and home is
tough. Some first generation college students go through this every day. They
have school work that might be due within a few days but they re too busy
working to support their family to do anything college related. Life at school is
just as difficult as life at home. Sometimes the professor won t give make up work
or extensions, even though the student has a valid excuse. He or she could have
been working, or be at a doctor appointment, etc. life between these two worlds can
affect the student in many ways. For example, when a first generation college

Examples Of Self Fulfilling Prophecy In Macbeth
Macbeth s Self fulfilling Prophecy Macbeth is a remarkable tragic play that was
written by one of the greatest English play writer, William Shakespeare. The story
begins with The Weird Sisters who were later encountered with Macbeth and Banquo,
the main character of the play. Macbeth and Banquo are the generals of Scotland, and
when they finished the battle on their way back, the three witchesgives out the
prophecy that leads Macbeths inevitable tragedy. It was strongly believed that the
Prophecies came true because Macbeth had want and made them happen. Macbeth
believes that his fate is to be the King of Scotland. However, it cannot excuse that he

know that he is going to be murdered by them. Macbeth wasn t certain about the
murdering plan, but he was swayed by Lady Macbeth to gain the throne. At the end of
Act three, Macbeth became the King of the Scotland as the Witches predicted. If it
were not for his overbearing desire from his internal temptations, Macbeth may have
considered other options and not murder Duncan; regardless, he freely continued to

1920 s Fashion Style Essay
A New Attitude and a New Style
When Coco Chanel said fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is
happening, she epitomized one of the most overlooked topics in history. It is no
coincidence that Chanel was the biggest clothing designer of the 1920 s, an era of
fashion shaped by its environment and the beginning of a fashion revolution.
Considered a time of political change, social change, and economic growth, the
twenties acts as the basis of modern society in America. This time period is the
beginning of major influences towards contemporary apparel. The deviation from
conservative fashion standards started in the 1920 s with the desire to obtain a
masculine figure, the change of attitude in women and the rise of commercialism. ...

For instance, the invention of washing machine allowed women to purchase and
indulge in more clothing (1920s: Fashion). Additionally, the increase use of radios
and movies enabled people from all over to hear about the latest fashion trends
(1920s: Fashion). Magazines wrote columns and articles about fashion and included
advertisements in their issues (1920s: Fashion). With attention to the spread of media,
nationwide celebrity followings became massively relevant. It was popular to
replicate the styles of celebrity favorites (1920s: Fashion). Furthermore, fashion
designers acted as major influencers across the country (1920s: Fashion). As shown,
technology was an important aspect of 1920s fashion, seeing as it pushed the spread
of commercialism.
In the final analysis, there is no question of the significant impact 1920s fashion had
on the modern society. The change is apparent in the manly appearance in the era s
women, the increase of commercialism, and attitude shift in citizens. The world
continues to shape the current fashion trends of today just as it did before. The
standards of fashion are constantly changing as do people overtime. In the end, every
aspect of fashion was derived from some moment in
Essay Banning A Child Called It
I am writing to you to protest the School Board s proposed banning of the book A
Child Called It by Dave Pelzer. The book spent six years on the New York Times
best seller list, was an international best seller, and received a Pulitzer Prize
nomination. As an award winning author, Mr. Pelzer has shared his true life story
based on a childhood where he received physical and mental abuse by his alcoholic
mother. A Child Called It brings our attention to mental abuse that adults may inflict
on a human being and in this particular case, a child. David s mother respects the
family s dogs more than she respects her own son. The dogs are fed every day, yet
she attempts to starve David. Although David has two other brothers,... Show more

His mother treats him like a slave, giving him daily chores and unbelievably
ruthless punishments. He has become inhuman to her as she refers to him as It.
The only hope of survival relies on his dad, in God, or in a miracle. His story
promotes the courageous human spirit and the determinate to survive. This book
does get harsh many times, but that does not mean people should shy away from it.
Schools feel the need to ban books that they do not think are appropriate for their
children, but that is not their say to take the book away from everyone. Some
schools tried to ban this book because they felt there was a lot of profanity and
violence. I do agree that both of those are in this story, but also profanity and
violence exists in the world today, so why should we try to act as if none of this
exists. Many children in middle school and high school face this problem of abuse
and feel a comfort by reading these types of stories that they can relate to; it helps
them to realize that they are not alone, and that there is hope. Perhaps David s
voice is the one that makes a difference for a young person facing such troubles.
Taking such a book off library shelves sends the wrong message to the public. It
doesn t just suggest that what is in the book may be offensive to you or your board.
It suggests that what is in the book is not a valuable and valid topic of discussion for
others to examine.
How Far Had the Bolsheviks Created a Totalitarian State ...
A totalitarian state, is a where the central government of a state does not tolerate
any parties with opposing views and exercises complete dictatorial rule over all or
most aspects of life. Lenin, the leader of the Bolsheviks, took many measures in an
attempt to create a totalitarian state, including the dissolution of Constituent
Assembly, the use of decrees and the establishment of a secret police group called
the Cheka. However there were also some ways in which he failed to achieve full
totalitarianism. The most basic characteristics of a Totalitarian state, are lack of free
speech and state control over the media. This is important to establish social control
over the state. Lenin s described free speech as bourgeois prejudice ,... Show more

The creation of the secret police and the establishment of the gulags and labour
camps, are signs that Lenin had created a successful totalitarian state, and could assert
physical control over the people. The introduction of War Communism during the
Russian Civil War, is evidence of Russian moving towards a Totalitarian State. Many
aspects of War communism were totalitarian in nature. For instance the creation of a
Supreme Economic Council, formed to take complete control over the Russian
highlights the central control over the most vital aspect of the state, that the
Bolsheviks enforced. Other measures include the requisitioning of excess grain from
the Peasants. Many of these policies were met with opposition, particularly among
the agricultural peasants. This opposition was in turn met with brutal force, which
was another example of the nature of complete state authority. War communism
continued on until the end of the Civil war, by which time the Bolshevik forces had
succeeded in crushing all opposition. The success of the red forces meant that Russia
was a step closer in becoming a Totalitarian state, as they were now the most powerful
party in Russia, with complete control over all its territory. Upon the creation of the
USSR, Lenin introduced new rule that would ensure greater totalitarian control. Only
communists would be able to stand for the soviets, and so this meant that the
communist party had the true control over the
Relationship In Night By Elie Wiesel
Night Short Response In the memoir Night, by Elie Wiesel, one of the main themes
is family, more specifically the relationship between father and son. For many
people, family is something that they value the most. In the beginning, the first
priority of many of the inmates is to avoid separating from their family members
and not to lose them. However as the book progresses, the prisoners are more
concerned about surviving on their own rather than taking care of their loved ones,
who have become a burden. Elie later feels the same way about his old and sick
father, but tries to take care of him as much as he can. The most important thing that
gives Elie the strength to fight this battle, is his family. In the beginning, when the

his very best to help his father. No matter how many times Elie explains to his
father that they would return home soon, I knew that I was no longer arguing with
him but with Death itself, with Death that he had already chosen (Wiesel 105). His
father has grown so weak that he has lost hope. Elie feels a sense of helplessness
because he is not able to do anything for his father. His father s illness makes him
very fragile and vulnerable, and unable to do anything. Elie tries his very best to
fulfill all his wishes, but he struggles to do so. Although Elie is aware of the fact
that his father is going to die soon, he tries his best to give him as much as hope as

Analysis Of Diego Rivera s Man At The Crossroads
The ever so common breach of artist freedom was brought to life in 1934 when
Diego Rivera s commissioned painting, Man at the Crossroads, was destroyed for
its controversial content. This piece, originally commissioned by the Rockefellers
to place on the ground floor of Rockefeller Center, representing hope and a new
future. Rivera s depiction of this began with painting a man controlling a machine at
the center of the mural, surrounded by what Rivera called elongated ellipses that
were filled alternately with cell patterns and cosmological explosions (qtd. In Social
History of the United States 325). Within his first few weeks of painting the mural,
the New York World Telegram called the mural anti capitalist propaganda . After
Rivera saw this article he was outraged,he sent his assistant to get pictures of renown
communist Vladimir Leninquoting, If you want communism, I will paint communism
(qtd. In Destroyed by Rockefellers, NPR). After this addition, the news outlets went
haywire and the Rockefellers tried to get Rivera to remove Lenin. When he wouldn t
they fired him and left the painting incomplete until it was destroyed by workers in
1934.
Although Rivera s addition of Lenin was unexpected and spontaneous it wasn t out
of character. Rivera was an outspoken member of the Mexican Communist Party in
the 1920 s. In fact Man at the Crossroads wasn t even the first of Rivera s murals to
be taken down for its use of communist propaganda. Years prior a mural of

As she sat reading the light dimmed. Hello, Gran, a voice boomed from the

her off her feet. Josh, put me down! , she exclaimed, giggling. She hoped he hadn t

always had a rumbustious relationship with Phillip s children and dreaded it
ending. Josh was now well over six foot and broad too. He d been trying to lift
since he was about eight, and it had become part of their habitual greeting. One of
the lovely things about being a grandparent was not worrying about having
favourites. She loved all of Phillip s children, but Josh had always been her
favourite. She had been scrupulously fair with Edward s twins, and hoped her
efforts had had results. As the children grew, however, it changed. As the children
presented themselves to her of their own free will rather than at parental command,
so she loved them. And if they weren t there, what was there to love? It had been
made easier by Edward moving to Manchester. He only rang occasionally and his
visits were even rarer. She could have rung him, of course, but he always seemed to
be so busy. His marriage to Alexa had increased the distance between them they d

Risk Management Programs: Maintaining Success The paper is intended to inform
the reader of the steps that a risk management program should take in order to ensure
that safety and security are upheld. The security and protection of information is
more difficult than ever before due to the expanse of technology that is used in the
world. Information can be hacked in to and utilized for fraudulent purposes. Personal
information of random populations is sought by convicted felons and illegal
organizations for the purpose of identity theft and financial gain. The recent inception
of identity theft pays tribute to the realization that ... Show more content on

These are essential points for the team to integrate in to their checklist when
organizing a hazardous waste protocol.
Employee Training
In order to improve the compliance of a protocol within a facility, it is important to
provide proper education and information to the employees. Mandatory education is
required by many healthcare facilities when new products or devices become
available so that all staff members are prepared to utilize the equipment when
necessary. In the case of preparing staff for the managementof hazardous waste, it
would be extremely important to plan mandatory educational in services that are
designed to inform the employees about the definitions of hazardous waste, the
proper handling of the infectious materials, and provide them with a copy of the
protocol set forth by the risk management team. Setting up these steps in employee
training would be crucial for achieving compliance in a healthcare setting.
Private Information Protection In this modern age, the use of technology has
changed the way human beings carry out most of their daily lives. In healthcare, this
is especially true. Patient information is no longer recorded with a pen and paper by
a physician, and simply filed somewhere. The use of electronic medical records has
shifted the way patient s private health information is stored. This shift has put patient
s information at risk due to the possibility of glitches and
Song Analysis Of The Song American Pie
Don McLean (1971) vs. Madonna (2000)
American Pie Don McLean
Don McLean sang the song American Pie very well. His voice is crystal clear
when he sang this song, and it sounds like he is pouring his heart into the song.
Don McLean has a very dynamic voice, which makes the song both very simple
and complex. He makes his voice quiet on serious verses and adds energy to the
song, which makes it a very unique song. The instruments that play during the song
are a piano, a drum set, and guitars. The music behind his voice is both simple and
complex, and the music compliments his voice very well. When Don McLean sings
the song, it sounds like he is telling a story and is reflecting on the death Buddy Holly

Elon University Experience
College applications were filled out, SATs were taken, and Campbell University
was not even a thought in the back of my brain. It s funny how things work out in
the end. From the very beginning of college searching, Elon University was my top
choice. This university had everything I was looking for: great academic programs,
study abroad opportunities, and a sense of community, at least that s what I believed.
Long story short, I was deferred from Elon until the Spring 2017 semester, taking that
universityout of the picture. The other schools I applied to and was accepted at, in
order of next choice to last choice, were Wofford College, Mars Hill University,
Wingate University, and Campbell University. I was also awarded scholarships...

In February, I received a letter from Campbell, inviting me to apply for more
scholarships, 2 of which were full tuition. At first, I wasn t interested, but with
encouragement from my family, I figured it was worth the shot, although, I still
had no intention of attending Campbell. On the day of the interview, I was given a
tour of the campus, had the opportunity to meet many friendly staff, and was
informed of all the opportunities for students. Throughout the day, I decided that
the only way I would go to Campbell was if I was awarded an additional
scholarship. When I didn t receive the scholarship, I was still set on Wofford. It
wasn t until I spent the weekend at Wofford that I began to have doubts about
attending there. A few days before the enrollment deposit deadline of May 1, I was
faced with the decision of Wofford or Campbell. The school I believed I was going
to for the past several months or the school I never took a glance at. After evaluating
my priorities, I decided that Campbell would be the place for me. I found that
Campbell had many more opportunities for me to practice my faith and live in a
Christian community. I ve already confirmed that I have and will continue to have so
many campus ministry groups and worships to attend, something that I could not

surprise considering this was a weight trainingclass, but I m not complaining. Using
the cardio machines is a nice change of

Quality And Total Quality Management
Quality is defined by meeting customers needs. Total quality management in the
company through continuous improvement of the quality of its products, services

difference is that perception and activities. (Goetsch, 2010) Here are two of the
main elements of the total amount as follows: 1) Education and training: all must
be trained and the staff of the organization and educated so that they work hard to

In the novel Of Mice and Men, the scene represented in the diorama is when
Lennie just got finished having a vision about the giant rabbit declaring that
George is going to abandon him all alone and then scampered back into Lennie s
brain as George is quietly approaching out of the brush. I consider this scene that I
created is significant to the novel because this is the scene to which Lennie passes
away, caused by George. Yes, the death of Curley s wife, due to Lennie s strength
and nervousness, was something major that lead to the cause of the occurrence, but
in this scene, it is to which George s thoughts were accurately correct in taking out
Carlson s Luger and handling it well. In this diorama it consists of two men, one

Film s Genre

Slavery, Bounty Hunting, Love, Education, Freedom
Title Meaning
The meaning behind the title Django Unchained comes from Django himself. With
Django being a slave, the movie shows him being unchained because of Schultz, as
well as gaining power and intelligence to rescue his wife.
Character Development
Django had one of the most important character developments in the film because of
the change in personality. For example, when first introduced Django is quite. He
was not super talkative, but rather acting like a sponge to Schultz. Django trusted
Schultz, and for good reason.
Individuality In The Virgin Suicides And Lolita
The hyperbolic lack of individuality in The Virgin Suicides changes both the image
of the boys and the girls. The narration is through the perspective of the boys as one
entity, an indistinguishable chorus, rather than from separable perspectives. The
chorus of boys views the girls as one entity separating but ultimately coming back
together (130). They can only see the similarity of the girls: their similar hair, morals,
upbringing, clothes, disposition, stature, age. This exemplifies that the girls
themselves did not draw the boys in, but only the beauty of their sadness and the
grandeur of their mass suicide. The girls had an inclination to maintain family
togetherness and saw themselves as a both a human pact and each other s greatest
confidants (216). The girls need to be close to one another foreshadowed the night of
the four murders, when neither sister would leave without any other given sister.
Closeness overpowers the predisposition to protect loved ones. Obsession is also
present in the repetition of hypotheticals regarding what could have been between the
boys and the Lisbon sisters. They frequently watch the Lisbon home just wondering...

On one side, the Lisbon sisters lose their grip on what innocence truly means,
allowing themselves to get caught in the fast moving pace of their youth. Without
any outlet for their self expression, they take their own lives out of pain and grief.
The religious references and lively imagery paradoxically describe the lack of
morality and the ultimate loss of life. Lo is no longer Dolores on the dotted line, but
Lolita through and through (11). Humbert ripped her childlike innocence from her
delicate fingertips, creating a wandering soul without roots. Her nymphet exterior
fades, along with her virtue. The sexual symbolism and moral questions transform Lo

Technology In There Will Come Soft Rains By Ray
Bradbury
Technology today has advanced and impacted our way of living and the
dependence on it has become a natural habit for our society. People today depend
on their phones for numerous things such as, talking, messaging, driving
directions, surfing the web or even to update their current Facebook status. Many
people say that since they rely so heavily on technology, it has been known to
weaken our society s ability to open a book or newspaper to find information
instead of looking at your phone. Technology has become a crutch for our
generation today and without it we would fail. There have been inferences that
technology will ruin us and lead us to extinction. In Ray Bradbury s short story
There Will Come Soft Rains , he purveys speculation that technology is the cause of
downfall in society and that nature will outlast man s creation. August 4, 2026, in
Allendale, California, everything is made easy for the family who occupy a
technologically advanced home that caters to their every need. Every morning
breakfast is made, the date is announced, information is given on friends and bills
that need to be paid. Little mice clean and do the chores around the house. This all
changed on August 4th when the house becomes eerily quiet, with no family insight.
The family is gone but silhouettes of a man, woman and two small children are
painted alongside the house. A nuclear explosion wipes out the city, the town is
desolate with just rubble and ashes left behind. A fire erupts and the

Mesothelioma: The Silent Killer
By Nick Johnson
Oct 10, 2007
There have been 126 deaths in Texas attributed to mesothelioma according to a study
completed in 1999 by The National Center for Health Statistics. This ranks Texas 7th
in the country for mesothelioma cases. Texas has a crude mortality rank of 42 but,
although this is not statistically high, if you are the widow/widower or children of
one of the deceased, the rank is absolutely too high.
It has been known for years that asbestos is harmful to humans and mesothelioma is
preventable. Despite this knowledge, thousands of Americans have suffered from the
damaging effects of asbestos exposure. Before getting into the details of

This settlement can go a long ways in helping a family pay for treatments for the
disease as well as funeral costs, in the event of death.
A mesothelioma diagnosis is made when a cancerous tumor has invaded the
mosothelial cells of an organ. This type of tumor is most commonly found in lungs,
heart and/or abdominal cells and is caused by direct exposure to asbestos and
asbestos related products. The most predominant form of mesothelioma is pleural
mesothelioma which is an extraordinarily rare, vicious kind of lung cancer. There are
two classes of pleural mesothelioma diffuse and malignant (cancerous) and benign
(not cancerous).
Statistics indicate that malignant mesothelioma is a serious form of the disease and
accounts for about 75% of all instances of mesothelioma. Malignant mesothelioma is
so aggressive it requires uncompromising treatment not only because of the type of
cancer it is but, a forceful response to treatment is required because, by the time this
form of mesothelioma is diagnosed, the disease has progressed into an advanced
form of cancer. Mesothelioma diagnosis is made through biopsy and a pathological
An Approach to the Regional Neoliberal Governance in...
An approach to the regional neoliberal governance in Southern Africa from a critical
perspective.
In order to examine the possible implications of neoliberalism in contemporary
Africa, an analysis based on a regional dimension is important. The multiplicity of
strategies and methods of governance in a specific regional context can appear
merging, mingling or even clashing, since regions can be understood as political and
social projects, where different actors act in favour of the maintenance, protection or
transformation of prevalent structures. In that way, according to Söderbaum, regions
can be disrupted from within and from without by the same forces that build them up
. (Söderbaum 2004a, p. 421). The process of economic ... Show more content on

The problems that arise from the expansion of the neoliberal policies, as a core
element of the attempted regional governance and regional integration, become
more obvious if we focus on concrete cases from the region. Taking in consideration
the limited scope of the essay, I will refer to problems that have arosen in the case of
South Africa and its foreign and domestic policies in connection to economic
development and integartion of the southern african region. Domestically, South
Africa was aiming at reducing state expenditure, at privitizations and the
liberalization of trade and capital. Under the GEAR, since 1996, neoliberalism
became the leading force in its economy, while the country appeared willingfull to
dominate in the region s economic and political spheres, by establishing a market for
its expanding economy, rather than being involved at the assistance of other
continental countries. Contradicting the main assumption of neoliberal regional
governance, South Africa s economic interests are served by a political strategy that
is engineered to pry open markets, and to pave the way for establishing footholds in
different economic sectors, especially if this will result in muscular corporate
penetration. (Alden Le Pere, p. 159). The country managed to rapidly expand its
economy through exports of products and capital, to the rest of the continent. This
resulted at South Africa Inc. as
House Of Spirits Vs. The Gift Of The Magi
Sacrificing one s life or personal values plays a huge role in the film The House of
the Spirits and the short story The Gift of the Magi. Praising things that don t matter
in life such as materialistic things is much less important, and what matters the most
is risking everything you got to be truly happy in the end. The film and the short
story illustrate how every action depending on whether the intention is good or bad,
can teach an individual a lesson that can be learned for a lifetime; in order to
effectively understand this concept, The House of the Spirits by Billie August and

being fixated on her negative memories. After reading her mother s writings,
Blanca came to the conclusion that she would not let her traumatizing experience
as a prisoner define the result of her life. Instead of seeking revenge, she decides to
focus on what matters most to her. Alba on the other hand, in The Gift of the Magi
by O. Henry, Jim and Della sacrifice their most valuable possessions in order
surprise each other with thoughtful gifts. Despite being living in impecunious
conditions, the couple were proud of Jim s gold watch. It had once belonged to his
father. And, long ago, it had belonged to his father s father. The other thing was
Della s hair, yet unknowingly to each other, they sell both the watch and the hair in
order to afford the perfect gift for their spouse (Henry, 2). However, the gifts
exchanged are useless because Della gets rid of her hair to buy Jim a chain for his
watch and [Jim] sold the watch to get money to buy the combs for Della (Henry, 6).
Instead of focusing on the actual gifts, both Jim and Della continue on with their day
appreciating the gesture and not the material. In the end, the precious items of each
character from the different stories allowed them to look beyond the shallow things
in life and enjoy every moment with their loved

On July 17th of last year Eric Garner was stopped by the police to be confronted
about selling untaxed loose cigarettes illegally. Eric Garner verbally resisted arrest
by arguing with the cops about the terms of his arrest. After bickering for a few
minutes the cops proceed to perform a chokehold like maneuver, which acted as a
catalyst toward the imminent death that would come of Garner. Prior to Garner s
encounter with Daniel Pantaleo his aggressor and rest of the NYPD cops, he

Athletes Professional Athletes
There are many arguments on pay gaps and wage differences between genders
different races. However, salaries of professional athletes and every day, essential
careers, such as teachers, nurse, and police officers, can become an even bigger
controversy because we don t understand why athletes deserve to be paid that
much, or we think us, as everyday workers, deserve to get paid more for what we
do. There are some valid reasons that contribute to professional athlete s high pay,
and our average pay. This has always been an interesting line of inquiry for me
because I never understood why playing a sport could make you so famous and
rich, but the salary for saving lives didn t even compare. I remember multiple
occasions where my dad and I were watching sports, and we landed on the topic of
why professional athletes get paid so much. To no surprise, these conversations
always ended in frustration for both of us and each of asking, what makes
professional athletes so much more important that the rest of us? It is no secret
professional athletes have a higher pay than most these days, but how much more?

Zoos In The Philippines Essay
Zoological Park or more commonly called zoo is what you call a place wherein
animals are held captive and are on display for people to observe. Zoos are also
called as menageries in some places. Menageries are exhibits of animals, especially
wild animals, in enclosures. During the ancient times, explorers, aristocrats and
noblemen showcase their power, wealth and expeditions through menageries.
Explorers bring back unfamiliar species of animals from their expedition. Ancient
petroglyphs show evidences that zooowners hired care takers for the animals in
captivity. Zoos were privately owned and were established so that ancient aristocrats
will be able to view and boast about the exotic animals from their travels. In the

has its fair share of issues. First, enclosures in Manila Zoo are old, rusty and too
small for the animals. The cages that the monkeys are in are all worn out, tattered
and rust colored. Although, there were very few monkeys in captivity, the cages
still look like it would not be able to accommodate even one monkey due to its
condition. The enclosure is not big enough for monkeys to roam around; the floor
of the cage is also made from concrete which obviously does not resemble dirt and
soil. The zoo s main attraction, Mali a 40 year old elephant is housed in an
enclosure too small for her. Like the monkeys cages, Mali s pen has concrete
flooring. It also lacks natural elements such as plants, trees, logs and such to

Causes Of Mass Incarceration
The reforms for Justice
The major cause of mass incarceration in the United States is Bail. Recently there
are several reforms that were passed, and there are several proposals under
consideration to fix this issue. A lot of people that are incarcerated toady committed
low offense charges. Hence, we need a fairer, and more effective justice system so
that more people could walk free rather than being locked up. With that said, bail is
used today as an entrapment, which opposed its original purpose. Most importantly,
of the people that are in jail, 60 percent haven t been convicted of anything. As we
can see, mass incarceration makes our country worsted off, and we need to do
something about it.
Did the entire Brooklyn got arrested today? said Pinto in his article titled, The Bail
Trap (page 6). Why do we arrest so many people daily? 365,000 people got arrested in
New York City in 2013. The overburdened justice system cannot handle the large
number of people that gets arrested daily. However, pleabargain is the way that the
system deals with this issue of arresting over a thousand people daily for low
offense charges. Ninety seven percent of the people that are arrested plead guilty.
The U.S. is at the highest incarceration rate in the world, therefore, we need a
reform to get rid of bail and to prevent police officers from arresting so many people.
Based on the Merriam Webster s online dictionary the word reform means, to
Float In A Violent Generation
We are survivors. This generation is, statistically, the most depressed, suicidal, and
anxiety ridden generation as to date. As aforementioned, multiple school shootings
have occurred as well. Popular politicians campaign to silence the voices of the
masses, but we refuse to be quieted. Our generation has survived what has been
thrown at us, and as a result, we are throwing everything we have back at our
attackers. The bottom line is that we, as a generation, are survivors who are
managing to keep afloat in the violent seas of today. This is important because this
character trait, of being persistent, whether it be to get something petty as most
people think, or to advocate change for the masses, will end up helping us change
what is happening.
Australian Aboriginal Impact
When the first fleet first landed in Australia they impacted many Aboriginal tribes of
Australia, and around the Sydney area these included the Cammeraigal, the
Kameygal, the Birrabirragal, the Eora and the Illawarra tribes. Indigenous Australia
refer to themselves in different ways and often in new south wales aboriginal
australians refer to themselves as the Korris (Korries) meaning peoples or persons
(educationscotland.gov.uk, 2016) . Europeans initially had short term impacts on the
Sydney tribes, such as violence, dispossession and disease. These short term impacts
then led to long term impacts through decreased population. There were further long
term impacts when Europeans forced Indigenous Australiansto change their lifestyle

The majority of short term impacts led to a decrees in population and in some
cases tribes were completely wiped out. In addition, with the short term impact s the
long term impact s had a major effect on the Aboriginal society, killing off many
people s heritage, taking away a part of this worlds history. With only 60 languages
left and many ceremonies lost or adapted to a more European standard. The
combination of short and long term impacts largely destroyed aboriginal culture in

Film Analysis Of Zootopia Zootopia (Howard 2016) is an animated film of Zootopia s first ever bunny cop, who overcomes various obstacles, while working with an edgy, prideful, con artist fox, to uncover a conspiracy. I will argue that formal elements, including low key lighting, mise en scene, editing, and framing portrays real world issues of how discriminationand stereotypes affect people, or in this case, predators. Throughout the film, predators are marginalized and affected by various stereotypes, the press conference scene proves this argument. During this scene, framing portrays the emotions of Nick Wilde, as he listens to a press conference, in support of his friend Judy Hopps. As Hopps digs deeper into the facts of the case, she derails giving some input on why predators are having vicious outbreaks. Without her knowledge, her comments come off as discriminatory to Wilde, and his reaction clearly shows his discomfort. The scene begins with a med shot of Wilde, beginning with a change of pace in his breathing, he begins to breathe slower, heavier, sticking out his chest, as his posture fluctuations, showing he is surprised with her comments. Wilde s ears perk back and his eyes widen as his head tilts, by the look on his face, the expression of disturbance is evident. As Wilde attempts to get a better look at Hopps presentation, a close up of Wilde occurs. This enhances his emotions, in effect of the remarks being made. • 12. 1920 s Fashion Style Essay A New Attitude and a New Style When Coco Chanel said fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening, she epitomized one of the most overlooked topics in history. It is no coincidence that Chanel was the biggest clothing designer of the 1920 s, an era of fashion shaped by its environment and the beginning of a fashion revolution. Considered a time of political change, social change, and economic growth, the twenties acts as the basis of modern society in America. This time period is the beginning of major influences towards contemporary apparel. The book spent six years on the New York Times best seller list, was an international best seller, and received a Pulitzer Prize nomination. As an award winning author, Mr. Pelzer has shared his true life story based on a childhood where he received physical and mental abuse by his alcoholic mother. A Child Called It brings our attention to mental abuse that adults may inflict on a human being and in this particular case, a child. The only hope of survival relies on his dad, in God, or in a miracle. His story promotes the courageous human spirit and the determinate to survive. This book does get harsh many times, but that does not mean people should shy away from it. Schools feel the need to ban books that they do not think are appropriate for their children, but that is not their say to take the book away from everyone. Some schools tried to ban this book because they felt there was a lot of profanity and violence. I do agree that both of those are in this story, but also profanity and violence exists in the world today, so why should we try to act as if none of this exists. Many children in middle school and high school face this problem of abuse and feel a comfort by reading these types of stories that they can relate to; it helps them to realize that they are not alone, and that there is hope. Perhaps David s voice is the one that makes a difference for a young person facing such troubles. Taking such a book off library shelves sends the wrong message to the public. It doesn t just suggest that what is in the book may be offensive to you or your board. It suggests that what is in the book is not a valuable and valid topic of discussion for others to examine.

A totalitarian state, is a where the central government of a state does not tolerate any parties with opposing views and exercises complete dictatorial rule over all or most aspects of life. Lenin, the leader of the Bolsheviks, took many measures in an attempt to create a totalitarian state, including the dissolution of Constituent Assembly, the use of decrees and the establishment of a secret police group called the Cheka. However there were also some ways in which he failed to achieve full totalitarianism. The most basic characteristics of a Totalitarian state, are lack of free speech and state control over the media. The creation of the secret police and the establishment of the gulags and labour camps, are signs that Lenin had created a successful totalitarian state, and could assert physical control over the people. The introduction of War Communism during the Russian Civil War, is evidence of Russian moving towards a Totalitarian State. Many aspects of War communism were totalitarian in nature. For instance the creation of a Supreme Economic Council, formed to take complete control over the Russian highlights the central control over the most vital aspect of the state, that the Bolsheviks enforced. Other measures include the requisitioning of excess grain from the Peasants. Many of these policies were met with opposition, particularly among the agricultural peasants. This opposition was in turn met with brutal force, which was another example of the nature of complete state authority. War communism continued on until the end of the Civil war, by which time the Bolshevik forces had succeeded in crushing all opposition. The success of the red forces meant that Russia was a step closer in becoming a Totalitarian state, as they were now the most powerful party in Russia, with complete control over all its territory. Upon the creation of the USSR, Lenin introduced new rule that would ensure greater totalitarian control. Only communists would be able to stand for the soviets, and so this meant that the communist party had the true control over the

For many people, family is something that they value the most. In the beginning, the first priority of many of the inmates is to avoid separating from their family members and not to lose them. This piece, originally commissioned by the Rockefellers to place on the ground floor of Rockefeller Center, representing hope and a new future. Rivera s depiction of this began with painting a man controlling a machine at the center of the mural, surrounded by what Rivera called elongated ellipses that were filled alternately with cell patterns and cosmological explosions (qtd. The narration is through the perspective of the boys as one entity, an indistinguishable chorus, rather than from separable perspectives. The chorus of boys views the girls as one entity separating but ultimately coming back together (130). They can only see the similarity of the girls: their similar hair, morals, upbringing, clothes, disposition, stature, age. This exemplifies that the girls themselves did not draw the boys in, but only the beauty of their sadness and the grandeur of their mass suicide. The girls had an inclination to maintain family togetherness and saw themselves as a both a human pact and each other s greatest confidants (216). The girls need to be close to one another foreshadowed the night of the four murders, when neither sister would leave without any other given sister. Many people say that since they rely so heavily on technology, it has been known to weaken our society s ability to open a book or newspaper to find information instead of looking at your phone. Technology has become a crutch for our generation today and without it we would fail. There have been inferences that technology will ruin us and lead us to extinction. Taking in consideration the limited scope of the essay, I will refer to problems that have arosen in the case of South Africa and its foreign and domestic policies in connection to economic development and integartion of the southern african region. Domestically, South Africa was aiming at reducing state expenditure, at privitizations and the liberalization of trade and capital. Under the GEAR, since 1996, neoliberalism became the leading force in its economy, while the country appeared willingfull to dominate in the region s economic and political spheres, by establishing a market for its expanding economy, rather than being involved at the assistance of other continental countries. Contradicting the main assumption of neoliberal regional governance, South Africa s economic interests are served by a political strategy that is engineered to pry open markets, and to pave the way for establishing footholds in different economic sectors, especially if this will result in muscular corporate penetration. There are some valid reasons that contribute to professional athlete s high pay, and our average pay. This has always been an interesting line of inquiry for me because I never understood why playing a sport could make you so famous and rich, but the salary for saving lives didn t even compare. I remember multiple occasions where my dad and I were watching sports, and we landed on the topic of why professional athletes get paid so much. It is a popular destination choice for many because of its convenient location it is located in the city which is accessible for many and extremely affordable entrance fees. However, Manila Zoo has its fair share of issues. First, enclosures in Manila Zoo are old, rusty and too small for the animals. The cages that the monkeys are in are all worn out, tattered and rust colored. Although, there were very few monkeys in captivity, the cages still look like it would not be able to accommodate even one monkey due to its condition. The enclosure is not big enough for monkeys to roam around; the floor of the cage is also made from concrete which obviously does not resemble dirt and soil. The zoo s main attraction, Mali a 40 year old elephant is housed in an enclosure too small for her. Like the monkeys cages, Mali s pen has concrete flooring. It also lacks natural elements such as plants, trees, logs and such to resemble an elephant s natural habitat. Mali s pen looks very gloomy and boring. The tiger enclosures also look sad as its yet again concrete flooring is covered with dead leaves from dying trees. There were photos were posted in a destination review site by visitors wherein the tigers were pictured surrounded by trash while sleeping. Second, the animals health is in poor condition. Horses were pictured stick

  • 45. Causes Of Mass Incarceration The reforms for Justice The major cause of mass incarceration in the United States is Bail. Recently there are several reforms that were passed, and there are several proposals under consideration to fix this issue. A lot of people that are incarcerated toady committed low offense charges. Hence, we need a fairer, and more effective justice system so that more people could walk free rather than being locked up. With that said, bail is used today as an entrapment, which opposed its original purpose. Most importantly, of the people that are in jail, 60 percent haven t been convicted of anything. As we can see, mass incarceration makes our country worsted off, and we need to do something about it. Did the entire Brooklyn got arrested today? said Pinto in his article titled, The Bail Trap (page 6). Why do we arrest so many people daily? 365,000 people got arrested in New York City in 2013. The overburdened justice system cannot handle the large number of people that gets arrested daily. However, pleabargain is the way that the system deals with this issue of arresting over a thousand people daily for low offense charges. Ninety seven percent of the people that are arrested plead guilty. The U.S. is at the highest incarceration rate in the world, therefore, we need a reform to get rid of bail and to prevent police officers from arresting so many people. Based on the Merriam Webster s online dictionary the word reform means, to

As aforementioned, multiple school shootings have occurred as well. Popular politicians campaign to silence the voices of the masses, but we refuse to be quieted. Our generation has survived what has been thrown at us, and as a result, we are throwing everything we have back at our attackers. The bottom line is that we, as a generation, are survivors who are managing to keep afloat in the violent seas of today. This is important because this character trait, of being persistent, whether it be to get something petty as most people think, or to advocate change for the masses, will end up helping us change what is happening.
