Self Identity Essay
Crafting an essay on the concept of self-identity is a task that requires a delicate balance between
introspection, research, and creative expression. The difficulty lies in navigating the intricate
layers of one's own identity and translating those thoughts into a coherent and compelling
narrative.
To begin with, the process involves deep introspection, forcing the writer to confront their own
beliefs, experiences, and values. This self-analysis can be challenging, as it requires honesty and
a willingness to delve into the complexities of one's identity, acknowledging both strengths and
vulnerabilities.
Furthermore, researching the multifaceted nature of self-identity adds another layer of
complexity. Drawing upon psychological theories, philosophical perspectives, and sociocultural
influences demands a thorough exploration of literature and academic sources. This step is
crucial for grounding personal reflections within a broader context, providing a more well-
rounded and informed perspective.
The challenge intensifies when attempting to convey these intricate ideas in a clear and engaging
manner. Balancing the personal and the universal aspects of self-identity requires skillful
storytelling and a nuanced understanding of language. Striking the right tone, maintaining
coherence, and avoiding clichГ©s are additional hurdles that contribute to the complexity of the
writing process.
In conclusion, writing a self-identity essay is a demanding task that requires a blend of self-
reflection, research, and articulate expression. It involves navigating the complexities of personal
identity while drawing from external perspectives to enrich the narrative. While challenging,
successfully crafting such an essay can be a deeply rewarding experience, offering both personal
growth and a compelling piece of literature.

Japanese Politics, By Takashi Inoguchi
In Takashi Inoguchi s latest publication, Japanese Politics: An Introduction, one of
the foremost political scientists in Japan, Takashi Inoguchi thoroughly delves into
two decades of Japanese history. The first period 1983 1993, and the second 1994
2004 sandwich the fall of the 1955 political system and era of one party
dominance. There is a unique perspective that the author is able to provide due to
his tenure as a professor of political science in the Institute of Oriental Culture at
the University of Tokyo as well as Assistant Secretary General of the United
Nations. His wife is also a well respected political scientist who sat on the House of
Representatives and had several other notable accomplishments, thus providing a
truly unique perspective from the author s point of view. The cover of the book is
that of a seemingly approachable and almost friendly book on Japanese Politics,
which is rare when it comes to books on politics. The image depicts Japanese men
working, while the opposing sides are pushing opposite ends with strained faces
whilst the workers on the interior of the outside men are unable to move forward
with progress. The image is symbolism for the political and economic developments
of Japans history and politics, and even goes as far to include information about
scholarly debates about Japanese Politics. One of the main arguments that Inoguchi
makes in the book is that the study of Japanese politics from his first segment (1983
1999) leads to

In Review The Presidency of Thomas Jefferson
If you lived as an educated American in the early nineteenth century, being rated for
competence in office at such an early point in the history of the nation of America
must have looked very different from how it does today. Thomas Jefferson, the third
President of the United States of America, served from 1801 1809. Being the virtual
founder of the Democratic Republican party that he was, he vehemently opposed
the popular Federalists of his time, and vice versa. There were reasons for why he
opposed the Federalists not only being a major contributor to the basic fibers of
America as one of it s Founding Fathers, Jefferson was a man and a President who
truly understood democracy s goal and spirit, and ultimately he believed that the
Federalists did not. His love of democracy and liberty holds true, even in spite of
his choice to own slaves, a practice that went directly against the grain of the words
he wrote with his own hand, that ...all men are created equal. Often the lives of
great men contain deeds of theirs that do not measure up to their overall character.
This could definitely be said of Thomas Jefferson, who was indeed a great President,
in spite of being a man with some conflicted principles.
The political landscape of Jefferson s time was a colorful one, and the elective
structure of the federal government was different from how it is today. The runner up

Trolls Meaning
Trolls is a movie of happiness and inclusivity. The trolls are joyful all the time.
They have watches to remind them every hour, on the hour that it s hug time and
they re constantly singing and dancing. Branch is the one exception. He is the
only troll in Troll Ville who isn t happy. Branch represents those of us who cannot
move forward because of the pain in our past. He remains a victim of circumstance
and isolates himself from others, cloaking his vulnerability with cynicism and
sarcasm. He lives his life paranoid and prepared for a Bergen attack. The Bergens, a
neighboring species, had been eating the trolls once a year on trollstice to get
happiness. But 20 years ago, the trolls escaped through their secret passageway,

spirit of the movie through music, which is very important to the happy go lucky
attitude of the characters and plot. The story teaches the viewers that life isn t all
cupcakes and rainbows, but that happiness is inside you and it always has been,
you just have to choose to find it. This gave me a new outlook on happiness. I was
like the Bergens, the unhappy neighbors of the Trolls. I thought you had do things
and have things to make you happy. But the movie Trolls has helped me realize
that happiness is a choice. You are in control of your happiness, but sometimes you
just need someone to help you find it. In this universe, there is overly happy and
overly sad. Poppy lives each day grateful for her friends, singing and dancing. She

they could have put the Cardinals in there to put in perspective how much money is

A commentary of the poem The Broken Tower by Hart
Crane
A Broken Tower, by Hart Crane, is a metaphor rich poem that is very ambiguous
but seems to describe the difficulties of the creative process and the way in which
the artist is bound and compelled by it. Crane uses many religious metaphors and
references, directly mentioning God and also bells, which are associated with
churches. It is possible to interpret the poem in a religious sense, but it could be
argued that religion and art are similar metaphors; that, for the poet, his writings are
both a method of spiritual expression and a search for truth. The title, A Broken
Tower, refers to a continuing metaphor in the poem and suggests the deconstruction
of established paradigms which is necessary for artistic progress. Throughout the
poem,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is congruent with the need to destroy the tower, or destroy traditional ideas.
Supporting the strong visual imagery is the frequent mention of sound: the choir,
voices, reveilles and echoes.
Imperfection is once again alluded to with the entry of the poet into the broken
world in order to trace the visionary company of love, its voice. This seems to
directly refer to his creative process in seeking truth and beauty in his writing. It is
also the most positive concept expressed in the poem thus far a wholly positive one,
rather than the difficult process of destroying the obsolete mentioned before.
However, unlike the mighty tower, this voice is an instant in the wind and not for
long in other words, transitory. It is also mysterious and beyond the poets control,
like the bells in the tower, as the poet admits he know[s] not whither [it is] hurled.
Crane makes a more specific reference to his art; his word, as opposed to the Word
of that tribunal monarch of the air. The latter belongs to God, who is depicted as
powerful and judgemental: the deity of the Broken Tower. This could be seen as a
personification of the judgemental ostracism that Crane faced as a homosexual. The
God metaphor is expanded on, with mention of Christs wounds pledged once to
hope, but also a rejection of it: cleft to despair. In this stanza, Crane offers his word a
replacement of the old Tower, symbolizing a
The U.S. Automobile Manufacturing Industry
External Remote/macro environment Analysis: Socio cultural, Technological,
Economy, Environmental/Ecological, Political, Legal (STEEPDG)
The US automobile manufacturing industry includes about 200 companies with
combined annual revenue of about $250 billion. Major companies are GM, Ford, and
Chrysler (which is controlled by Italy s Fiat). The industry is highly concentrated: the
top three companies account for more than 90 percent of revenue.

Most US auto manufacturers have experienced difficult times in recent years,
including loss of market share, financial losses, increasing legislative pressure, and
investor dissatisfaction. With improvement plans in place, CEOs must convince

Toyota and Honda were both selling the hybrid vehicles at retail value in 2001.
Economic
The automobile industry has a huge impact on the U.S. economy. The University of
Michigan and the Center for Automotive Research stated that this industry is the
major user of computer chips, textiles, aluminum, copper, steel, iron, lead, plastics,
vinyl, and rubber. (Gale, 2004) The study also showed that for every autoworker
there are seven other jobs created in other industries (Gale, 2004). These industries
include anything from the aluminums to lead to vinyl. In 2001, the total sales of
automobiles were 3.7% of the nation s gross domestic product. This percentage
works out to be $375 billion dollars in sales.
Political
Laws and government regulations have affected this industry since the 1960 s.
Almost all of the regulations come from consumers increasing concerns for the
environment and the concern for safer automobiles. The first safety act passed by
Congress was in 1966 and was called the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety
Act (Gale, 2004). This act forced manufacturers to improve the safety for the
passengers, the driver visibility, and the braking of the car. It also stated that
manufacturers had to inform the public when it had a recall on the cars. The
motivation for the passing of this safety act was Ralph Nadar s 1965 novel Unsafe at

decision to be made. One must gather his or her thoughts with clarity, precision,

particulars in mind during the thoughtprocess; an accurate answer and/or the most
excellent decision will undoubtedly be made. The purpose of this paper is to find a

Leonard has been working within his current department for almost 11 years now.
Very respected by others in his department, he was asked if he had thought about
applying for a management position that was open at the time. To Leonard, there
was not much thought to put into making the decision because of the knowledge
that he had already obtained from his past manager and of that manager s
experiences. For a manager, there is no longer just an eight hour working day five
days a week but 24 hours a day seven days a week, instead. Leonard knew of his
past manager s experiences of being awaken in the middle of the night to join
conference calls that were believed to only take 30 minutes to complete, but ended
up being two hours. Those type things happened quite often to Leonard s manager so
when the opportunity was presented for Leonard to apply for the management
position, he declined. Working a full time job, going to school full time, and
maintaining a family was presently already enough stress for Leonard to maintain, so

We should always prepare a plan B for doing anything else, it is because instead of
we are doing wrong at least we having a plan B. Learn from the mistake and take it
as a reference avoid to step the mistake again. Beside that, failure is not the
opposite of success, it s a stepping stone to success. Do not means that everybody is
set out to fail, but we should realize the possible to fail, and prepared to deal. Use

For many people or even societies, the usage of two or more languages in a single
conversation is not an astonishing occurrence, it is fairly normal. Code switching
is referred to the switching from the linguistic system of one language or dialect to
that of another. Code switching is a common form that is used by bilinguals.
Community members that take part in code switching pass on a shared message by
the simple act of code switching. It is particularly common in social and relaxed
settings, and also might be used where mechanical difficulties appear within a
conversation. Why do bilinguals code switch? And how can code switching be used

The researcher used the questionnaire as a main tool for obtaining data and the
process of data collection took almost three months. Moreover, the researcher
collected the views and opinions of the subjects from different regions of the country
(Pakistan). (Gulzar 2010) Further into the paper I will plan to discuss real life code
switching examples from Lebanon.
The term code switching varies from other language collaborations, for example
lexical borrowing. Lexical borrowing is the consequence of the lack of lexical
terms in the speaker s repertoire (or as most people call it tricks up their sleeve)
while in code switching, as Janet Holmes states, speakers have a genuine choice
about which words or phrases they will use in which language (Holmes, 2000).
Therefore, a speaker who uses code switching has a widespread variety of lexical
terms and phrases that allows them to shift codes easily in different situations and for
different reasons as well.
What most non bilinguals ask bilinguals themselves is why do you happen to code
switch? I for one at times do not know how to answer this question once asked.
However, after an extensive research, am able to answer the previous question. Now
to get to the main point of this paper, why do bilinguals code switch? Bilinguals code
switch for many reasons.

Example Of Superhero In Beowulf
Imagine a superhero, believed to be the bravest and greatest role model. Everyone
looks up to that superhero and wants to be like him. Some would say that the
superhero is the model person for how society should act. But then, one day people
found out the superhero was a fraud; he was not actually a good role model and was
all for show. In the poem, Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, Beowulf is a
character who is the same fraud as the metaphorical superhero. It is seen through
his brash decisions that he values glory and personal achievement, and lets his ego
dictate the decisions he makes, and how he lives his life. While Beowulf seems
like the model Anglo Saxon, he is in fact driven by his ego and pursuit of glory.
Because of this he breaks comitatus and is the opposite of the ultimate Anglo
Saxon. Beowulf is the opposite of the ultimate Anglo Saxon because he goes
against comitatus and ignores his king. When Beowulf returns to Geatland,
Hygelac tells him that his decision to leave troubled him, Your undertaking / cast
my spirt down, I dreaded the outcome / of your expedition and I pleaded with you
/ long and hard to leave the killer be (1992 1995). Hygelac explains that he didn t
want Beowulf to go and fight Grendel in the first place. It can be inferred that
Beowulf went anyway because he wanted the reward and wanted recognition. If
Beowulf was the model warrior he would have obeyed Hygelac. The Anglo Saxons
put a very heavy value on comitatus and loyalty, so for Beowulf to disregard it,
shows that he is the opposite of the ultimate Anglo Saxon. When Beowulf finds out
about Grendel it says, He announced his plan: / to sail the swan s road and search
out that king, / the famous prince who needed defenders. (199 201). Beowulf hears
about Grendel and immediately decides that he will go and help. Comitatus makes
a warrior loyal to his king, not the prince of a different nation. By going over,
Beowulf shows that he cares more about a foreign leader than his own king.
Famous , is used to describe the prince. It can be inferred that Beowulf learned he
was famous and only went because he was hoping for a reward. Beowulf breaks
comitatus and has his loyalties crossed and broken, in the pursuit of glory
Evaluation Of A Clinical Skills Essay
This essay will discuss a clinical skill in which I have become competent in
practicing. I will use a reflective model to discuss how I have achieved the
necessary level of competence in my nurse training programme. The reflective
model I have chosen to use is Gibbs model (Gibbs 1988). Gibbs model of reflection
incorporates the following: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and
an action plan (Gibbs 1988). The model will be applied to the essay to facilitate
critical thought, relating theory to practice where the model allows. Discussion will
include the knowledge underpinning practice and the evidence base for the clinical
skill. A conclusion to the essay will then be given which will discuss my reflection
skills, acknowledge my competence and show my personal and professional
development.
The clinical skill I have chosen to reflect on within this essay is the administration
of Intramuscular (IM) injections. I have chosen this as within my first clinical
placement this was a widely used method of drug administration and I became
involved in the process of IM injections. I therefore researched the topic of IM
injections and my knowledge within this area developed.
The first stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection requires a description of events.
I was asked to administer a drug to a patient via IM injection. I had observed this
clinical skill on a variety of occasions but have not had the chance to administer any
IM injection under supervision. On
The World Of Yesterday, By Anthea Bell
Stefan Zweig s The World of Yesterday originally published in 1942 and translated
into English in 2009 by Anthea Bell is a perceptive memoir that skillfully recounts
the life of Zweig (a Jewish middle class male) beginning with his childhood in
Vienna, Austria pre World War I and ends right before Zweig s suicide in 1942.
During his account, Zweig provides critical commentary on various historical events
that is invaluable when it comes to putting these events in the context of the
everyday life of the individuals living through them. He also provides accounts of
many societal structures as well as of interesting individuals that are not necessarily
important in the grand scheme of things but help the reader build a more complete
picture of the period. Throughout the book, Zweig maintains a cautionary as well as
a didactic tone that attempts to caution the reader about how society can change so
drastically and rapidly. Overall, Zweig s book is an excellent memoir that helps put
major historical events into context; however, the book also has some problems that
undermine the delivery of the cautionary message of the book. This book is a
memoir by Stefan Zweigthat recounts his life and critically analyses some of the
major world events that Zweig lived through. The setting at the beginning of the book
is Vienna, Austriain the Pre World I years, by the end of the book the setting has

from the increasing trends of changes in global temperature, precipitation, climate

sustainability are biodiversity inclusive EIA, adaptive management, and use of
revamped protocols for monitoring of the floral and faunal species.

Administration developed extensive maps of the forest areas and developed
climate models of different species. The plan envisaged conversion of 2, 69,000 ha
of private and community stands of conifer forests into mixed stands. The target is
to convert 1, 00,000 ha by 2020 and another 1, 65,000 ha of state forests by 2033 by
a public enterprise of Bavarian State Forest known as Bayerische Staatsforsten. It
includes replacement of Noway s Pine and Spruce stands into mixed stands of broad

Pullum Language
First day of school can be terrifying as a child, but imagine starting and going
through school not knowing half the things you are supposed to have learned by
now and being ridiculed for it. Unfortunately, this is the case for many students
across our nation. Many children have difficulty learning Standard English because
they have grown up using a different dialect or another language. Such is the case
with African American English (AAE) in Oakland. There are two point of views
that are perfectly depicted by a University of California, Santa Cruz linguistics
professor, Geoffrey K. Pullum, and a fellow at the Bunting Institute at Harward
/Radcliffe and author of The Good Negress, A.J. Verdelle, towards the use of black
vernacular. While Pullum... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since we are teaching children the standard form of English, it is necessary that all
primary teaching is in that form, however, society needs to understand that every
child comes from a different background; a child may have grown up using a
different form of English or even an entirely different language. Coming from an
individual that grew up speaking a different language at home, it is difficult for
students like us to make certain connections that children who grew up speaking the
standard can make easily. We have a tougher time with seemingly simple concepts
because our dialects/languages do not adhere to the same rules that the standard does.
Although we have one unifying goal of educating the young in Standard English, all
teaching should be based on the child s background and try to use that to help them
learn better and faster. As Pullum described, there is a lot of misconception involving
using AAE to implement student s learning. The point is not to make dialects like
AAE a language course in schools or have classes be taught in those dialects, but
rather to be used in conjunction with the Standard to efficiently ease children into the
desired outcome. Judge Joiner offered a solution to the problem by requiring teachers
to dedicate a certain amount of hours to understanding these children s point of views.
Verdelle, on the other hand, seems

Rudy V, Rudy, And The Movie
The movie Rudy is based off the true story of a student that attended the University
of Notre Dame. The movie shows his life from high school through his last football
game at the University. Like any movie of that nature, there are going to be some
deviations that are made up by Hollywood to make the story more interesting. With
this particular example, there are many different examples that show how Rudy
Ruetiger s life was both similar and very different to how it was portrayed in the
movie. Rudy had a very large family. He grew up with thirteen other siblings in the
house. While he was the oldest brother of them all, he had two older sisters. It is
portrayed in the movie that he has a very large family, however, they also portray
an older brother, Frank, that plays an important role. Frank is said to be a
combination of all of the people that discouraged him to pursue his dream of playing
football of the University of Notre Dame. Even though Frank is supposed to be the
character that represented everybody that didn t help him any in pursuing his
dream, his father acted the same way. He tried to act as Rudy s reality check in the
movie. In real life, however, he was not as mean. Just like any other father, he was
very supportive of his son s dreams. The movie also touched on his high school
career and what he did afterwards. Rudy attended Joliet Catholic school in Illinois
where he was on their football team. During his junior and senior years, he was a
starter as an
Concept Analysis Of Anesthesia Awareness
The thought of being awake or aware while having a surgical procedure performed
under general anesthesia is frightening to say the least. Studies show that this actually
happens in one in every 19,000 operations (Oginski, n.d.). This paper is a concept
analysis of anesthesia awareness. Within this analysis the definition of anesthesia
awareness will be addressed, as well as, the historical perspectives of this concept.
A modified version of Wilson s classic concept analysis procedure will be used to
explain the aim and purpose of the analysis, identify current uses of the concept, and
determine the defining attributes. A model case will be discussed that will support
the aim of the analysis. Borderline, related and contrary cases will... Show more

Muscle paralyzing drugs are given to cause paralysis in the muscles of the body.
This is done to prevent muscle spasms around the area being operated on, and to
prevent the patient from inadvertently moving during the procedure which could
make some surgeries virtually impossible to perform. The muscles of the heart are
not affected by muscle paralyzing medications, otherwise patients would not be
able to stay alive while under general anesthesia. These muscle paralyzing
medications also do not cause paralysis in the patient s bladder or bowel muscles,
this explains why patients under general anesthesia do not experience incontinence
of urine or feces. Furthermore, muscle paralyzing medications only paralyze the
muscles of the body, they do not have an effect on the patient s brain function, this
helps to explain how a person can be aware while at the same time be paralyzed.
While the patient is paralyzed, they cannot move or speak, and they cannot breathe.
To aide breathing during general anesthesia, patients are placed on an anesthesia
ventilator, also known as a respirator which takes over the patient s breathing while
paralyzed by these medications ( Anesthesia Aware ,
Federal Student Loans Research Paper
Many a young person has gone into teaching as a way to escape poverty only to
find that, as a teacher, he or she suffers under a substantial student loan debt. But can
that young person have some or all of that debt forgiven for teaching? At this time, a
student can receive one of two types of federal student loans: Federal Perkins Loans
and Stafford loans. Stafford loans are obtained either from a private lender under the
Federal Family Education LoanProgram or directly from the federal government
under the Federal Direct Loan Program. For many years now, students have been
able to cancel Federal Perkins Loans for their teaching service. The criteria for
cancellation are outlined in the promissory note the student signs before he or she...

I am not even able to say exactly how much I owe. All I know is, I make nowhere
near enough to pay it back. An article from About.com reports that over a lifetime,
people with a high school diploma earn $1.2 million dollars, while people with a
Bachelor s degree earn $2.1 million, and people with a Master s degree earn $2.5
million. Good news! I have a Bachelor s degree! And I almost have a Master s! And
yet, I am still not feeling very confident no, not at all confident that I can pay this
back. Being able to follow the career of my dreams is worth it. The education is
worth it too, I am convinced of that. If I did not have the opportunity to stick my
head up out of the daily grind and dabble in academic activities, I d be drowning.
Unfortunately, I am drowning anyway, but in money instead. There is one small light
at the end of my tunnel, but it is getting smaller year by year. Most of my student

There is a program offered by the government that allows me to have my loans

like this. I am studying to become a teacher, so when I graduate with my teaching
certificate, I have to make sure I get hired by a low income school. That is not so
hard, really, since to be low income a school only has to have a certain percentage of

What We Saw Theme
What We Saw in black and white
Black and White, what comes to mind besides two colors? These colors have
always represented Good and Bad, people have avoided the gray area in between
for centuries but it has always been there. In Aaron Hartzler s first fiction novel What
We Saw, this representation of good and bad was presented often. The line between
black and white was crossed many times by Kate but in the end she stepped in
between. A high school party filled with booze started the entire plot off. A horrid
act done by 4 high school boys is what made Kate fall into the gray along with her
finally seeing people as not just black and white but also gray. In the story Aaron
Hartzler presents that not everyone and everything is all good and white and not
everything is all bad, Aaron helped show the gray in the situation. ... Show more

Kate did not see everyone in the white area, however her fault was believing that
certain people could never do anything wrong. Even in the beginning, when she
states to her mother that Ben didn t ever mess up. (2) She was later proven wrong
when Ben does something or rather doesn t do something during the party. The
importance of the theme in this novel is shown with the main characters struggles
towards the situation and what happened along with who was there. For me this
theme comes around very often. Seeing the world in black and white would be the
same as turning a blind eye to every wrong going on in the chaos that is the world.
There is nothing wrong with seeing the good in people, however never looking past
that to the gray can cause for strife. For me this theme is of importance in a way that
helps me realize how I see people can affect my view on the world and how I see

Symbolism In Keats s Ode To A Nightingale
Torn between two worlds, Keats battled his own personal life between his
engagement to Fanny Browne and the death of his brother. Also the poem was
written approximately two years before he died. These life changing events resulted
in Keats writing one of his most famous poems, Ode to a Nightingale. This poem is
an escape from reality in trying to find a happy place such as the singing of the
Nightingale(Fiero 9). The poem is a parallel to Keats thoughts and desires, which are
directly connected to his reasoning for writing the poem, its connections to
understanding nature as well as its reflection of the human consciousnessand natural
environment.
Ironically the bird in the poem is used as a symbol, whereas the bird that inspired the
poem was a real living creature. According to ... Show more content on

One of the themes in Keats poem Ode to a Nightingale is reality verses imaginary
(Melani). In the beginning of the poem, the bird is tangible, allowing Keats to hear
its pleasant song. As the poem develops the bird becomes a symbol. The bird can
represent joy, self expressions and nature s music. One concern in the poem is Keats
analysis on the divided nature of humans. This includes mixed feelings of pain verses
happiness, feeling verses dullness, real verses ideal and mortal verses immortal. As
the poem continues to build on emotion based on human nature, the reader is able to
draw conclusions and different abstractions (Melani). In this poem there is an
overpowering theme directly related to romanticism, the bird representing nature and
immortality while on the flip side Keats representing a worldly state of mind trying to
capture the essence of the nightingale by listening to the song. Art is more than a
response to the human experience of love and nature; it is the transmuted product of
the imagination, a higher form of nature that triumphantly outreaches the mortal
lifespan (Fiero

Female Characters In The Hebrew Bible And Medea
In the Hebrew Bible, the Book of Genesis and the Greek play Medea, by Euripides,
contain female characters that can be seen as complex and have significance and
meaning in the text. There are many interpretations involving the female characters,
some characters may be portrayed as weak and irrational or strong willed and wise. I
will argue that, women are portrayed in the Hebrew Bibleand Medea as irrational and
senseless, in order for the men to be portrayed as superior and for women to be
seen as inferior. This idea of the female characters being irrational and senseless can
be seen in Genesis 4, Genesis 18, Genesis 29, and throughout the Medea play. In the
Hebrew Bible, a significant section where this idea can be seen is in the beginning
with the story of Adam and Eve, specifically in Genesis 4. When Eve is manipulated
to eat the forbidden fruit, it poses the idea that the suffering of humankind was caused
by a woman, showing the idea that woman react without consideration or
senselessly, when really Eve was only acting on a very human trait, curiosity.
When Eve convinces Adam to eat the forbidden fruit, one of gods punishment to
Eve is Your man shall be your longing, and rule over you (p.97). Or when God
describes Eve as his woman , God is essentially saying she is not her own
independent person and is meant to be owned by men. This passage alone shows that
women are viewed as people that were meant to be controlled; that men were always
meant to be above them.
Immigration And The Chinese Exclusion Act Of 1880
These national immigration laws created the need for new federal enforcement
authorities. In the 1880s, state boards or commissions enforced immigration law with
direction from U.S. Treasury Department officials. At the Federal level, U.S. Customs
Collectors at each port of entry collected the head tax from immigrants while Chinese
Inspectors enforced the Chinese Exclusion Act.
One of the first significant pieces of federal legislation aimed at restricting
immigration was the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, which banned Chinese laborers
from coming to America. Californians had agitated for the new law, blaming the
Chinese, who were willing to work for less, for a decline in wages. The Chinese
Exclusion Act of 1882 was the first significant law restricting immigration into the
United States. Those on the West Coast were especially prone to attribute declining
wages and economic ills on the despised Chinese workers. Although the Chinese
composed only .002 percent of the nation s population, Congress passed the exclusion
act to placate worker demands and assuage prevalent concerns about maintaining
white racial purity.
For much of the 1900s, the federal government had left immigration policy to
individual states. However, by the final decade of the century, the government
decided it needed to step in to handle the ever increasing influx of newcomers. In
1890, President Benjamin Harrison (1833 1901) designated Ellis Island, located in

It is becoming harder for todays teen to curb their addition of cell phone usage and
the costs are deadly. So who are teenagers who hyper network always talking to?
Aside from the massive flood of text messages, much of it had to do with social
networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. On average, the typical hyper
networker has over 150 online friends, many of which they have met face to face.
A behavioral ecologists like Dr. Reader does not view this type of friendship to be
wholesome. He believes that face to face interaction, mixed with committed time

feel like making new friends online has less risk involved then real life networking

The Established Rules For The Doric And Corinthian
Orders...
In Book 4, Vitruvius writes on the established rules for the Doric and Corinthian
orders, and explains the differences and peculiarities.
Chapter I: The Origins of the Three Orders, and the Proportions of the Corinthian
Capital
In chapter 1, Vitruvius writes of the proportions of the Ionic, Doric, and Corinthian
columns and the similarities and differences. The three architectural order by its
capital are Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. Corinthian columns, apart from in their
capitals that has the same proportions as in the Ionic order, but the height of the
capitals taller than the Ionic capitals that give it a slimmer appearance. In Corinthian
style two thirds are added capitals, that gives a slender appearance to the length of the
columns. Corinthian columns are composed either of the Doric proportions or uses
the Ionic, and the Corinthian order does not have any peculiar arrangement for its
cornices or other ornaments. The Corinthian order may be arranged with a frieze
decorated with sculptures that is accompanied with dentils and coronae. The
Corinthian order may include mutules in the coronae and guttae with the architraves
as the triglyph system of the Doric style or as the Ionic style.
Doric was the first to have rules for their symmetry to tolerate large sums of weight,
and also to a satisfactory appearance of beauty. They measured a man s foot and
compared this with his height, finding that the foot was one sixth of the height, and
they applied the same principle
Purly Imaginative Subject by Gary J. Kornblith
An essay written by Gary J. Kornblith, the main focus is on a purely imaginative
subject. The use of this counterfactual approach is widely accepted as a
methodology in research of causation. According to Kornblith, counterfactual
exercises are necessary to think more clearly about causation and to distinguish
between essential factors and coincidental developments (79). He uses the
counterfactual method to present the idea that if Henry Clay had been elected in
1844, which he goes on to prove as plausible, we would be in a much different
country. The thesis as a whole is stated as ... My focus is on a different pair of wars:
the Mexican American War of 1846 1848 and the American Civil War
of 1861 1865...
Rather than project a different military outcome, I posit the absence of the Mexican
American War...The key to peace in my counterfactual scenario is a victory by
Henry Clay over James K. Polk in the very close presidential election of 1844... As a
result Texas would almost certainly have remained an independent republic in 1845,
and the United Stateswould not have gone to war with Mexico the following year.
Based as it is on a highly plausible turn of events, this counterfactual scenario
promises to advance our understanding of the causes of the Civil War (77). He then
adds the fact that there are two viewpoints that come from this counterfactual
exercise; Revisionists, who believe that the Civil War could have been avoided,
despite the sectional differences, and
A Small Place Analysis
Jamaica Kincaid s novel A Small Place is a fictional novel about her life growing up
on an island that has been imperialised by the British. Jamaica Kincaid shows
acrimony to the colonization of her country, towards the corrupt government that has
stunted the growth of her country, towards the white people that took Antiguain their
hands and molded it into something embryonic. The dictionary defines third world as
the underdeveloped nations of the world, especially those with widespread poverty,
with this description, Antigua will be classified as a third world country after
achieving their independence from the British. A Small Placereveals that post colonial
Antigua is still pinned by a form of slavery through the nation s poor economy,

corrupt government are hand in hand to help create the impoverished Antiguans.
The corrupt government of Antigua restricts their citizens ability to buy specific

layers of duct tape. Dr. Garavaglia was able to note that this was done prior to any
decomposition of the body. This was because the mandible remained attached to the
skull after decomposition had occurred completely. (Casey Anthony Trial, 2011)
Usually, once the soft tissue breaks away, there is nothing holding the lower jaw to
the upper skull portion. The tape had held the mandible in place and all of the
baby teeth were still in place. This is fairly unusual because baby teeth are
temporary and do not have true roots holding them in once the tissue is gone.
(Casey Anthony Case, 2013) The tape had been wound through the child s hair and
was still clinging into the tape. Over the mouth area, there was a heart shaped
sticker. Investigators found similar stickers in Casey s room. This pointed even
more to the remains belonging to Caylee Anthony. Finally a definitive answer came

fact belong to Caylee. Now it was Dr. Garavaglia s job to figure out how this young

The Importance Of The Kumbh Mela
The Kumbh Mela is a diverse pilgrimage of the Hindu faith. A ritual is something
which occurs on the daily for many people. It can be religious, secular or just
something which is done regularly. Rituals no matter what they are, create a
connection to something which allows emotion for the adherant. This multimodal is
solely focused on the Hindu pilgrimage, Kumbh Mela, the purpose it offers to
adherants, the key beliefs and religious identity that connect adherants to it, lived
experiences of past attendees and formal teachings. The Kumbh Mela pilgrimage is
significant to adherants as it plays an important role in the Hindu faith and it
influences adherents with religious traditions by assisting them to transition into
living out the core values / traditions thoroughly. The Kumbh Mela is a pilgrimage
which offers many rituals to religiously or spiritually inclined and non religiously
inclined individuals, while maintaining the lived experiences for some. There are
many reasons why adherants attend the Kumbh mela. The main reason is to cleanse
their s and their ancestors past sins. They do this by bathing in the river ganges.
The Kumbh Mela occurs once every 12 years in Ujjain, India. It is the largest
spiritual and religious gathering in the world with usually between 80 120 million
attendees. The pilgrimage runs for 55 days and there are different bathing times for
certain groups of people. Once the adherant has bathed in the river ganges, they have

The Argument for the Existence of God Essay
The Argument for the Existence of God
It is an undisputed fact that some people claim to have experienced God. It is these
religious experiences that have been used by philosophers to argue for the existence
of God. The main way of expressing the argument from religious experience is as
follows:
P1 Someone experiences an entity
C1 The entity exists
P2 Someone has experienced God
C2 God exists
Those who champion the argument seek to differentiate ordinary experiences and
religious experiences. The supporters of this argument argue that there are several
key differences between the two types of experience: that religious experiences are
completely different from what is normal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea expressed here is that religious believers will become explicitly convinced
that they are in God s presence when a religious experience occurs.
In order to stress that the experience was truly experienced and not simply a
conclusion of a series of inferences (caused by consideration of a set of hypotheses),
experiences are described through the undeniable, self authenticating interaction of
the five senses. For example, when you see a football heading straight towards you
and subsequently colliding with your head, you not only see the football coming
towards you but also feel the football when it hits your head. Through the interaction
of the two senses of sight and touch it would seem illogical to deny the existence of
the football and, indeed, the event itself. An analogy to this effect is often cited
because the direct experience that comes from a spiritual sense and that not to
believe in God s presence after this experience would seem absurd.
The point of the example of experiencing God something like the way that you
would experience people is not the idea of how we experience each other s bodies
but how we experience each other s being . This is further clarified by the suggestion
that we also experience other people s minds,

Abstract
Physical safety inside and out depends on the type of physical security that is being
used by that facility. How well the buildings security system is being implemented can
have an impact on the safety of its patrons and other individuals who frequent the
building.
Physical Security Principles
Safety in numbers has always been a deterrent method when leaving or traveling
through places that are not safe. But without proper physical security measures set
in place when leaving any facility or building the need for a crowd will be of no use.

Technology Advancement
Physical security for any facility is a major factor for keeping safe and having
modern technology on site is a greater addition. Protecting the facilities assets
requires the company to stay ahead with modern day upgrades and devices for
ensuring that whatever or whomever is gaining access to the property is suppose to
be there. Monitoring the individuals who enter through facility access control and
perimeter fences or installing video and closed circuit television surveillance can
eliminate trespassers and those with no prior business on the property. Personal
identification systems can also be established that use fingerprints and biometrics to
gain access into any facility for staff and personnel. The amount of technology to use
for physical security is unlimited depending on the facility and what needs protecting.
Conclusion
Physical security involves many components such as location, configuration, size,
shape, and many other vital attributes that comes with a standing structure. Keeping
people safe on the inside as well as those on the outside requires security principles
that go beyond what just the normal eye can see. Applying the correct physical
equipment to lower the risk of unwanted behaviors and attacks depends on how well
the perimeter is guarded. Advanced technology including cameras and monitoring

Thomas Jefferson Dynamic Character
I selected the Jefferson to be the main character of my adaptation. I chose Jefferson
to be the main character because that way the audience will get a better
understanding of the material by seeing a different character s perspective. The
character of Jefferson in the adaptation version would try to take the original material
to heart and portray him closely as described in the book. Jefferson is an interesting
dynamic character, it is because of his situation that the events of the plot take place.
Jefferson starts off as an uneducated, clueless and complicit boy. We know that
Jefferson is a simple man and at first Jefferson has very little self worth and low
hopes in life. He is poor and has worked on a plantation all his life. An example...

.] (11.59 61). By the end of the book, he develops into an educated, observant, and
free thinking man. This changes when Grant starts helping him. Jefferson is learning
how to be a man, and life lessons, which are all a part of Jefferson s lesson before
death. A challenge that would be faced converting a character from a novelinto
animated form is the character design. Good character design is absolutely vital to
any animation. The most important elements of animated character design are: the
body of the character, such as height, weight, facial and body features, clothing, the
character, especially the main characters have to be visually appealing, choosing
the correct voice actor and/or sound effects is important, symbolism of character
traits, themes of the story and ideas and concepts can be incorporated into the
visual design. The animated adaptation of Jefferson should have all the elements
previously discussed and would have to be visually designed from text descriptions
in the novel, and/or a design that represents Jefferson s character traits. An example
of a good character design is Yoda from Star Wars, immediately just by looking, you
know that he is very old, because of Yoda s white hair, how shrunken, wrinkled and
short he is, we also know that he is wise, this is a use of symbolism that Yoda
meditates and connects to the force, just like the Buddhist and Tibetan monks, who
spend their life meditating and connecting to God, and thought of as very wise. The
traits of the character must match and expand upon the traits and details already
established in the book. Combining thoughtful visual and auditory character design
along with a script that reflects his traits, should result in an excellent portrayal of the

Comparison Between R And Python
Chapter 3
Today, R and Python are the most popular open tools for Machine Learning. This
Chapter presents a general overview of R and Python, their characteristics and usage
for machine learning. Lastly, a comparison matrix of R and Python for ML is
provided at the end of this chapter.
About R
R stands for both the statistical programming language and the software environment.
It is one of the most popular statistical environment for machine learning and general
data analysis. R is licensed under the GNU General Public License, with copyright
held by The R Foundation for Statistical Computing.
The source code of R is written in R, C and Fortran. R is free, open source and
cross platform with a large community of users. Even though R programming is
challenging, the CRAN packages reduce the number of lines coding, with a help
command giving explanation and examples of use. R also gained popularity for its
fancy visualizations.

They are both open source, free and easy to install. The choice of a tool over the
other is subjective and depends on the user s preference and personal experience.
Python is a great solution if the user wants to learn a powerful programming
language for not only machine learning and statistics. Besides, if the user is already
familiar with python or with a similar programming language, Python seems a
natural choice. Python is more flexible and gives the freedom of development. R on
the other hand, is more suitable if the user is specifically interested in statistical
computations and visualizations. For non programmers, R can be very exciting; the
user can easily do data explorations and create some amazing plots with little effort.
Many tutorials and books are available for beginners, and the community is always
welcoming new R users. Still, mastering R programming language demands a lot of
time, patience and
Collective Bargaining In Canada
Introduction
The right to associate (join a union) is a statutory (legally protected) right in Canada,
but collective bargaining has not yet been ratified as a constitutional or human right
(though the debate of such has been ongoing for decades). A human right is defined
as a right inherent to all individuals, as a part of their fundamental existence as
human beings to create/preserve dignity (Foster, 2011, p. 34). The basic disunion
between the concepts of collective bargaining for economic parity and human rights
for democratic and social equality lays the foundation for the ongoing argument:
should collective bargaining be recognized as a human right?
Included in the analysis to follow are how historical perceptions of collective

24). It is democratic in nature but, like management, will bargain based on how it
represents workers and the values held by membership. The democratic nature of
unions increases the complexity of decision making (Foster, 2011, p. 24). The power
and stability of unions might shift if collective bargaining were to become a human
right, and the strength of the labour movement would wane (Savage, 2008, p. 69).
Unions would have to give up power and the rigid, government certified structures
currently in place in favour of independent organizations that workers might want
representing them (Adams, 2008, p. 59). As well, unions would have to eliminate
mandatory union membership and dues as they contravene the basic principles of
freedom of association (Adams, 2008, p.
Essay on Apollo 13 Case Study
Apollo 13 Case Study Apollo 13 has experience a major malfunction which
changes the mission from landing on the moon to a spacecraft that is now is in a
desperate struggle to return to earth with the crew alive. The team work needed to
achieve this is substantial and many of the staff at mission control center will in
some degree be a leader. Aside from Gene Kranz, one of the first people to emerge as
a leader and take control of the situation is Sy Liebergot. His review of the data
coming in from the crippled space craft leads him to start conceptualizing a plan to
save the crew. He displays many leadershiptraits in the span of the first few minutes

Kranz. His level of expertise appears to be very respected by Mr. Kranz and the
whole control room though he does not allow this to the point of taking advantage
and taking over the control room, rather he uses his knowledge to be seen as a
servant leader. Sy also uses his technical skills as he is assessing the situation and
what it means to the functionality of the space craft. When asked by Mr Kranz
what is going on, Sy first takes on a Autocratic type role and explains the situation
to Mr. Kranz, He is absolute in what he is saying but is still puzzled by the
situation. Sy then transition to a Joint decision role as others in the control room
give there in put to the situation and finally ends up with in a Consultation role as
everyone in the control room has a better understanding about the gravity of the
situation the space craft is in. As the situation with the space craft is becoming
clearer we can see that Sy s role is very much task orientated as he has very limited
direct conversation with the space craft. He is more concerned in evaluating the
data and working on a solution to the situation. His emergence as a leader was out
of dedication to the project, not to say he did not care for the men in the craft, but
by his nature in this situation he was task driven. The lines of communication in the
control room appear to be very direct. When Mr. Kranz asks you a question, you
respond directly to him.

are healthier than its competitors. As a healthier diet is becoming much more
prominent over the last decade, Tim Hortons could use this to their advantage by

salads, sandwiches and soups. If Tim Hortons were able to market and promote
healthier options, consumers may choose the healthier option over an unhealthy
option, in which Tim Hortons competitors offer. This could lead to a larger customer

Irony In Mid Term Break
How are the themes life and death and sadness used in Mid Term Break by Seamus
Heaney and Little Frieda and Full Moon by Ted Hughes? A four year old boy
stands on the sidewalk with his brothers, unaware of the danger that lies ahead of
him. He sees his brothers standing on the other side of the street and darts ahead to
them. Suddenly, he is hit by an unsuspecting driver and is killed. This tragic story
is the tale of Seamus Heaney s younger brother Christopher. Seamus Heaney wrote
the poem Mid Term Break to express his grief over his death. Seamus Heaney is
not the only with a sad story to tell. Ted Hughes wife and Little Frieda s mother
Sylvia Plath committed suicide by putting her head in an oven. Full Moon and
Little Frieda was written shortly after Sylvia Plath s suicide. In Little Frieda and
Full Moon, Little Frieda sees the moon and speaks for the first time. Both poets have

He says that the baby is Wearing a poppy bruise on his temple , which becomes
very ironic. This is because the bruise was never part of the baby s face. It doesn t
belong there. The adjective wearing is quite positive, but bruise is negative so this
becomes very ironic. He also uses a poppy to describe the bruise. A poppy is
usually associated with death, because of its color, and worn to remember
someone who has died. Here the author intends for us to make this ironic
connection by using the verb wearing . The next two lines are also ironic He lay in
the four foot box as in his cot. No gaudy scars, the bumper knocked him clear. A cot
is meant to symbolize a happy baby, but this baby s cot is a coffin. Not wearing
something gaudy is meant to be a good thing, but here it turns into a bad thing,
because the bumper knocked him clear , the baby is dead. Also the dead baby is a
contrast to the laughing baby in line 7, creating irony. In this stanza, irony is used to

Breast Cancer Staging At Cancer And The International...
Breast Cancer Staging Breast cancer is staged using the American Joint Committee
on Cancer and the International Union for Cancer Control classification system for
tumor, nodes, and metastases (TNM) (Esserman, 2013). The first part of the tumor
staging system, as seen in Table 2, assesses that of the primary tumor itself by means
of clinical breast exam and imaging studies and is represented by the letter T on the
staging table. Mammogram is an essential part of assessing the primary tumor,
however other modalities previously discussed including ultrasound and MRI is often
essential (Esserman, 2013). Evaluating lymph nodes surrounding the breast is a
crucial component of staging and is thought to be one of the most important aspects
in relation to prognosis. The letter N on the staging table represents this component. It
is also of utmost importance to evaluate the nodes by radiologic means because
physical examination alone is indeterminate of metastasis. The last component is
metastasis, represented by an M on the staging table. Often, many patients with breast
cancerare diagnosed with the cancerconfined to the breast and without node
involvement. In that case, those patients are not often evaluated or staged for the
presence of metastatic disease. However, those that do present with signs and
symptoms of metastatic disease or with locally advanced cancer (T3 or greater, N2
or N3, M0) are evaluated for this component (Esserman, 2013).

Bargaining Power of Suppliers and Buyers of Video Games
Bargaining power of suppliers: Hardware, game publisher, game developer
Bargaining power of buyers: there is a high power (82)
For the industry analysis, we are certain of sales since the PS4 is a consumer
product particularly. For that reason, the buyer has a high bargaining power on the
product. The market for casual gamers has increased seriously and sales increased
after decreasing price of the PS3. Due to the uniqueness of every video game console
and the games buyers have bargaining power. A small difference might be
significance an extra hundred dollars for an intense gamer. People have more
aware to the price difference because they play video games more casually and as a
result they have more bargaining power. Buyers have a reasonable amount of power
in the video game industry in particular with Nintendo. Although Microsoft and Sony
have other sources of revenues, the major source of income comes from the sales of
games and game consoles.
Bargaining power of suppliers: Hardware, game publisher, game developer (65)
In addition, Sony operates in the one business sector which is the computer
entertainment industry. Sony distributes and market PlayStation products including
PS4, PS3, PS2, PSP and others accessories and gaming equipment (IBISWorld,
2013). Thus, I believe there is a high power of suppliers on the subject of hardware
and accessories. We need to estimate the prices of the cost of hardware units that we
need to use. Since the productivity of IBMs Cell
The Dolores Journey

Dolores Huerta was born on April 10th, 1930 in Dawson, New Mexico. Dolores
was the second of three children of Alicia and Juan Fernandez, a farm worker and

Alicia with raising the kids, Alicia had to work two jobs as a waitress and a cannery
worker.

Taking a Look at Long-Term Care Insurance
Introduction
For many people younger than 50, long term care insurance seems like something
to worry about for the future. Some young adults feel as though long term care
insurance may not be a topic to discuss at their age because they are young and
healthy. However, young adults should be thinking about long term care as early
as possible. As we can see in healthcare news and headlines, long term care cost is
rising and factors can include your age, medical conditions, and overall need for
care. According to, Rich Arzaga, founder and CEO of Cornerstone Wealth
Management who states, They ll ask about (long term care) at the age of 55 or 60
when their parents are going through these issues. They don t have the fear of reality
until they re over 55. Physical aging is unavoidable, but becoming wise and educated
on long term care insurance at a young age can help many in the future. Long term
care policies are providing incentives such as refund features to appeal to young
adults who are not thinking they will need this kind of insurance. The statistics show
over and over again that people are living longer and once they are older will use
some source of long term care. According to the New York Times, around eight
million adults in 2011 purchased long term care insurance. Long term care insurance
has been a product gradually losing appeal to many primary consumers. Furthermore,
long term care has been deemed an unprofitable resource for major insurance
companies.
Male Dingoes Essay
Dingoes reproduce once per year, depending on the estrus cycle of the female dingo.
The estrus cycle usually comes once a year, but can come twice although the female
dingo can only become pregnant once a year (with the second time only seeming to
be pregnant).
Male dingoes in most regions are virile throughout the entire year, but usually have a
lower sperm production in the summer. During studies on dingoes from the Eastern
Highlands and Central Australia living in captivity, no breeding cycle was noticed.
The breeding was only regulated by the heat of the female dingoes. A rise in the
testosterone was observed in the male dingoes during the breeding season (1 March
30 June), but this was shown to be linked to the heat of the female dingoes and
copulation. In contrast to the captive dingoes, captured dingo male from Central
Australia did show a male breeding cycle. The captured ... Show more content on

During the mating season, dingoes actively defend their territory by using
vocalisations, growling, barking and dominance behaviour.
Most female dingoes living in the wild begin breeding at the age of two. Within
their packs, the alpha female goes into heat before the subordinate dingoes and
suppresses mating attempts from the other female dingoes. Male dingoes become
sexually mature between the ages of one and three. The exact beginning of breeding
depends on age, seasonal conditions, geographic range and social status. Among
dingoes living in captivity, the pre estrus can last up to sixty days in the wild.
Generally, the only dingoes that can successfully breed in a pack are the alpha male
and female, so the other dingoes help to raise the dingo pups. The subordinates are
actively prevented from breeding by the alpha pair although some subordinate
females have false pregnancies. If the pack structure breaks up, low ranking or lone
dingoes can successfully
Mcteague Social Darwinism
Social Darwinism is the belief that only superior races of people will thrive in
society and all people can only survive in their given social status. Various writers
in the late nineteenth century displayed this theory in their works. Frank Norris
portrays Social Darwinism in his novel McTeague. The central characters lives
begin to crumble as they attempt to flourish outside their economic rank.
McTeague and Trina and Zerkow and Maria epitomized the theory of Social
Darwinism by the rise and fall of their lifestyles. McTeague and Trina begin the
novel with simple, middle class lives. McTeague is living in a one room apartment
as a dentist, and Trina lives in a crowded house with abusive parents. They marry
shortly after Trina wins the
Essay on C. S. Lewis Works
C. S. Lewis was a celebrated academic in the field of medieval literature, first at
Oxford University, then at Cambridge, where he held the first chair in medieval
and Renaissance literature. He also was a noted convert to Christianity who in the
1940 s established himself as a popular Christian apologist with a series of wartime
radio talks, later collected under the title Mere Christianity (1952). Between 1938
and 1945 he wrote a trilogy of science fiction books (the Space Trilogy, consisting
of Out of the Silent Planet, 1938; Perelandra, 1943; and That Hideous Strength: A
Modern Fairy Tale for Grownups, 1945) with underlying Christian themes. He was

However, the publishers, Geoffrey Bles, like today s filmmakers, decided to space
them out to one per year. He had found a young illustrator, Pauline Baynes, for the
first book and asked her to stay with the series. After the series was published,
Lewis received the 1957 Carnegie Medal, Britain s most prestigious award for
children s literature, for the last chronicle, The Last Battle. Some have argued the
award was really for the whole series, but in many ways, The Last Battle really is
the best of the seven stories. The order of reading the Chronicles which Lewis
recommended is not the order in which they were written or published. Lewis
suggested that new readers start with The Magician s Nephew, which tells of the
creation of Narnia. This should be followed by The Lion, the Witch, and the
Wardrobe, then The Horse and His Boy, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn
Treader, The Silver Chair, and finally The Last Battle, which tells the story of the
Narnian world brought to an end. Four of the stories deal with children entering the
parallel, or secondary, world of Narnia, setting disorder to right, and then returning
to their own world, only to find that no time at all has elapsed there. One of the
novels presents an adventure that happens purely within Narnia; one tells a story of
secondary world spilling over into the children s primary world of England; and in
one, The Last Battle, all the previous friends of

Self Identity Essay. Self Identity Essay Long and Short Essays on Self Identity Factors ...

  • 1. Self Identity Essay Crafting an essay on the concept of self-identity is a task that requires a delicate balance between introspection, research, and creative expression. The difficulty lies in navigating the intricate layers of one's own identity and translating those thoughts into a coherent and compelling narrative. To begin with, the process involves deep introspection, forcing the writer to confront their own beliefs, experiences, and values. This self-analysis can be challenging, as it requires honesty and a willingness to delve into the complexities of one's identity, acknowledging both strengths and vulnerabilities. Furthermore, researching the multifaceted nature of self-identity adds another layer of complexity. Drawing upon psychological theories, philosophical perspectives, and sociocultural influences demands a thorough exploration of literature and academic sources. This step is crucial for grounding personal reflections within a broader context, providing a more well- rounded and informed perspective. The challenge intensifies when attempting to convey these intricate ideas in a clear and engaging manner. Balancing the personal and the universal aspects of self-identity requires skillful storytelling and a nuanced understanding of language. Striking the right tone, maintaining coherence, and avoiding clichГ©s are additional hurdles that contribute to the complexity of the writing process. In conclusion, writing a self-identity essay is a demanding task that requires a blend of self- reflection, research, and articulate expression. It involves navigating the complexities of personal identity while drawing from external perspectives to enrich the narrative. While challenging, successfully crafting such an essay can be a deeply rewarding experience, offering both personal growth and a compelling piece of literature. • 2. Japanese Politics, By Takashi Inoguchi In Takashi Inoguchi s latest publication, Japanese Politics: An Introduction, one of the foremost political scientists in Japan, Takashi Inoguchi thoroughly delves into two decades of Japanese history. The first period 1983 1993, and the second 1994 2004 sandwich the fall of the 1955 political system and era of one party dominance. There is a unique perspective that the author is able to provide due to his tenure as a professor of political science in the Institute of Oriental Culture at the University of Tokyo as well as Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations. His wife is also a well respected political scientist who sat on the House of Representatives and had several other notable accomplishments, thus providing a truly unique perspective from the author s point of view. The cover of the book is that of a seemingly approachable and almost friendly book on Japanese Politics, which is rare when it comes to books on politics. The image depicts Japanese men working, while the opposing sides are pushing opposite ends with strained faces whilst the workers on the interior of the outside men are unable to move forward with progress. The image is symbolism for the political and economic developments of Japans history and politics, and even goes as far to include information about scholarly debates about Japanese Politics. One of the main arguments that Inoguchi makes in the book is that the study of Japanese politics from his first segment (1983 1999) leads to
  • 3. The Presidency Of Thomas Jefferson Aaron Hoye POLS 136 Tuesday Class In Review The Presidency of Thomas Jefferson If you lived as an educated American in the early nineteenth century, being rated for competence in office at such an early point in the history of the nation of America must have looked very different from how it does today. Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States of America, served from 1801 1809. Being the virtual founder of the Democratic Republican party that he was, he vehemently opposed the popular Federalists of his time, and vice versa. There were reasons for why he opposed the Federalists not only being a major contributor to the basic fibers of America as one of it s Founding Fathers, Jefferson was a man and a President who truly understood democracy s goal and spirit, and ultimately he believed that the Federalists did not. His love of democracy and liberty holds true, even in spite of his choice to own slaves, a practice that went directly against the grain of the words he wrote with his own hand, that ...all men are created equal. Often the lives of great men contain deeds of theirs that do not measure up to their overall character. This could definitely be said of Thomas Jefferson, who was indeed a great President, in spite of being a man with some conflicted principles. The political landscape of Jefferson s time was a colorful one, and the elective structure of the federal government was different from how it is today. The runner up in the Presidential

They have watches to remind them every hour, on the hour that it s hug time and they re constantly singing and dancing. Branch is the one exception. He is the only troll in Troll Ville who isn t happy. Branch represents those of us who cannot move forward because of the pain in our past. He remains a victim of circumstance and isolates himself from others, cloaking his vulnerability with cynicism and sarcasm. He lives his life paranoid and prepared for a Bergen attack. Can t Stop the Feeling, was written for the movie Trolls. The story teaches the viewers that life isn t all cupcakes and rainbows, but that happiness is inside you and it always has been, you just have to choose to find it. This gave me a new outlook on happiness. I was like the Bergens, the unhappy neighbors of the Trolls. I thought you had do things and have things to make you happy. But the movie Trolls has helped me realize that happiness is a choice. You are in control of your happiness, but sometimes you just need someone to help you find it. The teams displayed are the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox , and the St. Louis Cardinals. I for one believe that the In House designers put these three teams because two out of three of them are the first and second most valuable teams in the game, and the third one are the World Series champions. Likewise, they could have put the Cardinals in there to put in perspective how much money is collected in a given year compared to each team s value, which are significantly different. • 8. A commentary of the poem The Broken Tower by Hart Crane A Broken Tower, by Hart Crane, is a metaphor rich poem that is very ambiguous but seems to describe the difficulties of the creative process and the way in which the artist is bound and compelled by it. Crane uses many religious metaphors and references, directly mentioning God and also bells, which are associated with churches. It is possible to interpret the poem in a religious sense, but it could be argued that religion and art are similar metaphors; that, for the poet, his writings are both a method of spiritual expression and a search for truth. The title, A Broken Tower, refers to a continuing metaphor in the poem and suggests the deconstruction of established paradigms which is necessary for artistic progress. Throughout the poem,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is congruent with the need to destroy the tower, or destroy traditional ideas. Supporting the strong visual imagery is the frequent mention of sound: the choir, voices, reveilles and echoes. Imperfection is once again alluded to with the entry of the poet into the broken world in order to trace the visionary company of love, its voice. This seems to directly refer to his creative process in seeking truth and beauty in his writing. It is also the most positive concept expressed in the poem thus far a wholly positive one, rather than the difficult process of destroying the obsolete mentioned before. However, unlike the mighty tower, this voice is an instant in the wind and not for long in other words, transitory. It is also mysterious and beyond the poets control, like the bells in the tower, as the poet admits he know[s] not whither [it is] hurled. Crane makes a more specific reference to his art; his word, as opposed to the Word of that tribunal monarch of the air. The latter belongs to God, who is depicted as powerful and judgemental: the deity of the Broken Tower. This could be seen as a personification of the judgemental ostracism that Crane faced as a homosexual. The God metaphor is expanded on, with mention of Christs wounds pledged once to hope, but also a rejection of it: cleft to despair. In this stanza, Crane offers his word a replacement of the old Tower, symbolizing a

Almost all of the regulations come from consumers increasing concerns for the environment and the concern for safer automobiles. The first safety act passed by Congress was in 1966 and was called the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act (Gale, 2004). This act forced manufacturers to improve the safety for the passengers, the driver visibility, and the braking of the car. It also stated that manufacturers had to inform the public when it had a recall on the cars. For many people or even societies, the usage of two or more languages in a single conversation is not an astonishing occurrence, it is fairly normal. Code switching is referred to the switching from the linguistic system of one language or dialect to that of another. Code switching is a common form that is used by bilinguals. Community members that take part in code switching pass on a shared message by the simple act of code switching. It is particularly common in social and relaxed settings, and also might be used where mechanical difficulties appear within a conversation. Why do bilinguals code switch? And how can code switching be used in an ESL classroom? In the following articles, the portrayal of the topic will be further discussed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The researcher used the questionnaire as a main tool for obtaining data and the process of data collection took almost three months. Moreover, the researcher collected the views and opinions of the subjects from different regions of the country (Pakistan). (Gulzar 2010) Further into the paper I will plan to discuss real life code switching examples from Lebanon. The term code switching varies from other language collaborations, for example lexical borrowing. Lexical borrowing is the consequence of the lack of lexical terms in the speaker s repertoire (or as most people call it tricks up their sleeve) while in code switching, as Janet Holmes states, speakers have a genuine choice about which words or phrases they will use in which language (Holmes, 2000). Therefore, a speaker who uses code switching has a widespread variety of lexical terms and phrases that allows them to shift codes easily in different situations and for different reasons as well. What most non bilinguals ask bilinguals themselves is why do you happen to code switch? I for one at times do not know how to answer this question once asked. However, after an extensive research, am able to answer the previous question. Now to get to the main point of this paper, why do bilinguals code switch? Bilinguals code switch for many reasons. Janet Holmes references in her book Introduction to Sociolinguistics that, a speaker may...switch to another language as a signal of group membership and shared ethnicity
  • 14. Example Of Superhero In Beowulf Imagine a superhero, believed to be the bravest and greatest role model. Everyone looks up to that superhero and wants to be like him. Some would say that the superhero is the model person for how society should act. But then, one day people found out the superhero was a fraud; he was not actually a good role model and was all for show. In the poem, Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, Beowulf is a character who is the same fraud as the metaphorical superhero. It is seen through his brash decisions that he values glory and personal achievement, and lets his ego dictate the decisions he makes, and how he lives his life. While Beowulf seems like the model Anglo Saxon, he is in fact driven by his ego and pursuit of glory. Because of this he breaks comitatus and is the opposite of the ultimate Anglo Saxon. Beowulf is the opposite of the ultimate Anglo Saxon because he goes against comitatus and ignores his king. When Beowulf returns to Geatland, Hygelac tells him that his decision to leave troubled him, Your undertaking / cast my spirt down, I dreaded the outcome / of your expedition and I pleaded with you / long and hard to leave the killer be (1992 1995). Hygelac explains that he didn t want Beowulf to go and fight Grendel in the first place. It can be inferred that Beowulf went anyway because he wanted the reward and wanted recognition. If Beowulf was the model warrior he would have obeyed Hygelac. The Anglo Saxons put a very heavy value on comitatus and loyalty, so for Beowulf to disregard it, shows that he is the opposite of the ultimate Anglo Saxon. When Beowulf finds out about Grendel it says, He announced his plan: / to sail the swan s road and search out that king, / the famous prince who needed defenders. (199 201). Beowulf hears about Grendel and immediately decides that he will go and help. Comitatus makes a warrior loyal to his king, not the prince of a different nation. By going over, Beowulf shows that he cares more about a foreign leader than his own king. Famous , is used to describe the prince. It can be inferred that Beowulf learned he was famous and only went because he was hoping for a reward. Beowulf breaks comitatus and has his loyalties crossed and broken, in the pursuit of glory

I will use a reflective model to discuss how I have achieved the necessary level of competence in my nurse training programme. The reflective model I have chosen to use is Gibbs model (Gibbs 1988). Gibbs model of reflection incorporates the following: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and an action plan (Gibbs 1988). The model will be applied to the essay to facilitate critical thought, relating theory to practice where the model allows. Discussion will include the knowledge underpinning practice and the evidence base for the clinical skill. A conclusion to the essay will then be given which will discuss my reflection skills, acknowledge my competence and show my personal and professional development. The clinical skill I have chosen to reflect on within this essay is the administration of Intramuscular (IM) injections. I have chosen this as within my first clinical placement this was a widely used method of drug administration and I became involved in the process of IM injections. I therefore researched the topic of IM injections and my knowledge within this area developed. The first stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection requires a description of events. I was asked to administer a drug to a patient via IM injection. I had observed this clinical skill on a variety of occasions but have not had the chance to administer any IM injection under supervision. On

The World Of Yesterday, By Anthea Bell Stefan Zweig s The World of Yesterday originally published in 1942 and translated into English in 2009 by Anthea Bell is a perceptive memoir that skillfully recounts the life of Zweig (a Jewish middle class male) beginning with his childhood in Vienna, Austria pre World War I and ends right before Zweig s suicide in 1942. During his account, Zweig provides critical commentary on various historical events that is invaluable when it comes to putting these events in the context of the everyday life of the individuals living through them. He also provides accounts of many societal structures as well as of interesting individuals that are not necessarily important in the grand scheme of things but help the reader build a more complete picture of the period. Throughout the book, Zweig maintains a cautionary as well as a didactic tone that attempts to caution the reader about how society can change so drastically and rapidly. Overall, Zweig s book is an excellent memoir that helps put major historical events into context; however, the book also has some problems that undermine the delivery of the cautionary message of the book. Pullum Language First day of school can be terrifying as a child, but imagine starting and going through school not knowing half the things you are supposed to have learned by now and being ridiculed for it. Unfortunately, this is the case for many students across our nation. Many children have difficulty learning Standard English because they have grown up using a different dialect or another language. Such is the case with African American English (AAE) in Oakland. There are two point of views that are perfectly depicted by a University of California, Santa Cruz linguistics professor, Geoffrey K. Pullum, and a fellow at the Bunting Institute at Harward /Radcliffe and author of The Good Negress, A.J. Verdelle, towards the use of black vernacular. While Pullum... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since we are teaching children the standard form of English, it is necessary that all primary teaching is in that form, however, society needs to understand that every child comes from a different background; a child may have grown up using a different form of English or even an entirely different language. Coming from an individual that grew up speaking a different language at home, it is difficult for students like us to make certain connections that children who grew up speaking the standard can make easily. We have a tougher time with seemingly simple concepts because our dialects/languages do not adhere to the same rules that the standard does. Although we have one unifying goal of educating the young in Standard English, all teaching should be based on the child s background and try to use that to help them learn better and faster. As Pullum described, there is a lot of misconception involving using AAE to implement student s learning. The point is not to make dialects like AAE a language course in schools or have classes be taught in those dialects, but rather to be used in conjunction with the Standard to efficiently ease children into the desired outcome. Judge Joiner offered a solution to the problem by requiring teachers to dedicate a certain amount of hours to understanding these children s point of views. Verdelle, on the other hand, seems

This poem is an escape from reality in trying to find a happy place such as the singing of the Nightingale(Fiero 9). The poem is a parallel to Keats thoughts and desires, which are directly connected to his reasoning for writing the poem, its connections to understanding nature as well as its reflection of the human consciousnessand natural environment. One of the themes in Keats poem Ode to a Nightingale is reality verses imaginary (Melani). In the beginning of the poem, the bird is tangible, allowing Keats to hear its pleasant song. As the poem develops the bird becomes a symbol. The bird can represent joy, self expressions and nature s music. One concern in the poem is Keats analysis on the divided nature of humans. This includes mixed feelings of pain verses happiness, feeling verses dullness, real verses ideal and mortal verses immortal. As the poem continues to build on emotion based on human nature, the reader is able to draw conclusions and different abstractions (Melani). In this poem there is an overpowering theme directly related to romanticism, the bird representing nature and immortality while on the flip side Keats representing a worldly state of mind trying to capture the essence of the nightingale by listening to the song. Art is more than a response to the human experience of love and nature; it is the transmuted product of the imagination, a higher form of nature that triumphantly outreaches the mortal lifespan (Fiero

  • 26. Female Characters In The Hebrew Bible And Medea In the Hebrew Bible, the Book of Genesis and the Greek play Medea, by Euripides, contain female characters that can be seen as complex and have significance and meaning in the text. There are many interpretations involving the female characters, some characters may be portrayed as weak and irrational or strong willed and wise. I will argue that, women are portrayed in the Hebrew Bibleand Medea as irrational and senseless, in order for the men to be portrayed as superior and for women to be seen as inferior. This idea of the female characters being irrational and senseless can be seen in Genesis 4, Genesis 18, Genesis 29, and throughout the Medea play. In the Hebrew Bible, a significant section where this idea can be seen is in the beginning with the story of Adam and Eve, specifically in Genesis 4. When Eve is manipulated to eat the forbidden fruit, it poses the idea that the suffering of humankind was caused by a woman, showing the idea that woman react without consideration or senselessly, when really Eve was only acting on a very human trait, curiosity. When Eve convinces Adam to eat the forbidden fruit, one of gods punishment to Eve is Your man shall be your longing, and rule over you (p.97). Or when God describes Eve as his woman , God is essentially saying she is not her own independent person and is meant to be owned by men. This passage alone shows that women are viewed as people that were meant to be controlled; that men were always meant to be above them.

One of the first significant pieces of federal legislation aimed at restricting immigration was the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, which banned Chinese laborers from coming to America. Californians had agitated for the new law, blaming the Chinese, who were willing to work for less, for a decline in wages. The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 was the first significant law restricting immigration into the United States. The use of this counterfactual approach is widely accepted as a methodology in research of causation. According to Kornblith, counterfactual exercises are necessary to think more clearly about causation and to distinguish between essential factors and coincidental developments (79). He uses the counterfactual method to present the idea that if Henry Clay had been elected in 1844, which he goes on to prove as plausible, we would be in a much different country. The thesis as a whole is stated as ... My focus is on a different pair of wars: the Mexican American War of 1846 1848 and the American Civil War of 1861 1865... Photographs of Caylee s room and pictures of Caylee as an infant show here laying on the same patterned blanket. Wrapped tightly around the skull were three layers of duct tape. Dr. Garavaglia was able to note that this was done prior to any decomposition of the body. This was because the mandible remained attached to the skull after decomposition had occurred completely. (Casey Anthony Trial, 2011) Usually, once the soft tissue breaks away, there is nothing holding the lower jaw to the upper skull portion. The tape had held the mandible in place and all of the baby teeth were still in place. This is fairly unusual because baby teeth are temporary and do not have true roots holding them in once the tissue is gone. (Casey Anthony Case, 2013) The tape had been wound through the child s hair and was still clinging into the tape. Over the mouth area, there was a heart shaped sticker. Investigators found similar stickers in Casey s room. This pointed even more to the remains belonging to Caylee Anthony. Finally a definitive answer came in. The DNA results finally came back. The findings were that the remains did in fact belong to Caylee. Now it was Dr. Garavaglia s job to figure out how this young girl lost her life.

  • 34. The Argument for the Existence of God Essay The Argument for the Existence of God It is an undisputed fact that some people claim to have experienced God. It is these religious experiences that have been used by philosophers to argue for the existence of God. The main way of expressing the argument from religious experience is as follows: P1 Someone experiences an entity C1 The entity exists P2 Someone has experienced God C2 God exists Those who champion the argument seek to differentiate ordinary experiences and religious experiences. The supporters of this argument argue that there are several key differences between the two types of experience: that religious experiences are completely different from what is normal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea expressed here is that religious believers will become explicitly convinced that they are in God s presence when a religious experience occurs. In order to stress that the experience was truly experienced and not simply a conclusion of a series of inferences (caused by consideration of a set of hypotheses), experiences are described through the undeniable, self authenticating interaction of the five senses. For example, when you see a football heading straight towards you and subsequently colliding with your head, you not only see the football coming towards you but also feel the football when it hits your head. Through the interaction of the two senses of sight and touch it would seem illogical to deny the existence of the football and, indeed, the event itself. An analogy to this effect is often cited because the direct experience that comes from a spiritual sense and that not to believe in God s presence after this experience would seem absurd. The point of the example of experiencing God something like the way that you would experience people is not the idea of how we experience each other s bodies but how we experience each other s being . This is further clarified by the suggestion that we also experience other people s minds,

A challenge that would be faced converting a character from a novelinto animated form is the character design. Good character design is absolutely vital to any animation. The most important elements of animated character design are: the body of the character, such as height, weight, facial and body features, clothing, the character, especially the main characters have to be visually appealing, choosing the correct voice actor and/or sound effects is important, symbolism of character traits, themes of the story and ideas and concepts can be incorporated into the visual design. The animated adaptation of Jefferson should have all the elements previously discussed and would have to be visually designed from text descriptions in the novel, and/or a design that represents Jefferson s character traits. An example of a good character design is Yoda from Star Wars, immediately just by looking, you know that he is very old, because of Yoda s white hair, how shrunken, wrinkled and short he is, we also know that he is wise, this is a use of symbolism that Yoda meditates and connects to the force, just like the Buddhist and Tibetan monks, who spend their life meditating and connecting to God, and thought of as very wise. The traits of the character must match and expand upon the traits and details already established in the book. Combining thoughtful visual and auditory character design along with a script that reflects his traits, should result in an excellent portrayal of the Jefferson

Breast Cancer Staging Breast cancer is staged using the American Joint Committee on Cancer and the International Union for Cancer Control classification system for tumor, nodes, and metastases (TNM) (Esserman, 2013). The first part of the tumor staging system, as seen in Table 2, assesses that of the primary tumor itself by means of clinical breast exam and imaging studies and is represented by the letter T on the staging table. Mammogram is an essential part of assessing the primary tumor, however other modalities previously discussed including ultrasound and MRI is often essential (Esserman, 2013). Evaluating lymph nodes surrounding the breast is a crucial component of staging and is thought to be one of the most important aspects in relation to prognosis. The letter N on the staging table represents this component. It is also of utmost importance to evaluate the nodes by radiologic means because physical examination alone is indeterminate of metastasis. The last component is metastasis, represented by an M on the staging table. Often, many patients with breast cancerare diagnosed with the cancerconfined to the breast and without node involvement. In that case, those patients are not often evaluated or staged for the presence of metastatic disease. However, those that do present with signs and symptoms of metastatic disease or with locally advanced cancer (T3 or greater, N2 or N3, M0) are evaluated for this component (Esserman, 2013). Adjuvant

Generally, the only dingoes that can successfully breed in a pack are the alpha male and female, so the other dingoes help to raise the dingo pups. The subordinates are actively prevented from breeding by the alpha pair although some subordinate females have false pregnancies. If the pack structure breaks up, low ranking or lone dingoes can successfully
  • 53. Mcteague Social Darwinism Social Darwinism is the belief that only superior races of people will thrive in society and all people can only survive in their given social status. Various writers in the late nineteenth century displayed this theory in their works. Frank Norris portrays Social Darwinism in his novel McTeague. The central characters lives begin to crumble as they attempt to flourish outside their economic rank. McTeague and Trina and Zerkow and Maria epitomized the theory of Social Darwinism by the rise and fall of their lifestyles. McTeague and Trina begin the novel with simple, middle class lives. McTeague is living in a one room apartment as a dentist, and Trina lives in a crowded house with abusive parents. They marry shortly after Trina wins the
  • 54. Essay on C. S. Lewis Works C. S. Lewis was a celebrated academic in the field of medieval literature, first at Oxford University, then at Cambridge, where he held the first chair in medieval and Renaissance literature. He also was a noted convert to Christianity who in the 1940 s established himself as a popular Christian apologist with a series of wartime radio talks, later collected under the title Mere Christianity (1952). Between 1938 and 1945 he wrote a trilogy of science fiction books (the Space Trilogy, consisting of Out of the Silent Planet, 1938; Perelandra, 1943; and That Hideous Strength: A Modern Fairy Tale for Grownups, 1945) with underlying Christian themes. Some have argued the award was really for the whole series, but in many ways, The Last Battle really is the best of the seven stories. The order of reading the Chronicles which Lewis recommended is not the order in which they were written or published. Lewis suggested that new readers start with The Magician s Nephew, which tells of the creation of Narnia. This should be followed by The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, then The Horse and His Boy, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, and finally The Last Battle, which tells the story of the Narnian world brought to an end. Four of the stories deal with children entering the parallel, or secondary, world of Narnia, setting disorder to right, and then returning to their own world, only to find that no time at all has elapsed there. One of the novels presents an adventure that happens purely within Narnia; one tells a story of secondary world spilling over into the children s primary world of England; and in one, The Last Battle, all the previous friends of
