My Favourite Hero Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "My Favorite Hero" may seem deceptively simple at first
glance, but as one delves into the task, the intricacies and challenges become apparent. The
difficulty lies not in expressing admiration for a hero, but in encapsulating the essence of why
that particular individual holds such a significant place in one's heart.
Firstly, the challenge arises from the subjective nature of heroism. What attributes and actions
define a hero? Is it bravery, selflessness, resilience, or a combination of various qualities? Trying
to strike a balance between personal feelings and providing a universally relatable portrayal can
be a tightrope walk.
Moreover, the emotional connection one has with their favorite hero can cloud objectivity. The
writer must navigate the fine line between genuine admiration and the risk of idolizing the hero,
which may inadvertently result in a biased or overly sentimental piece.
The essay also requires a delicate exploration of the hero's impact on the writer's life. This
involves introspection and the ability to articulate the subtle ways in which the hero has
influenced personal beliefs, values, or aspirations. Expressing these sentiments with clarity and
depth is a formidable task that demands careful consideration of language and tone.
Additionally, avoiding clichГ©s and generic descriptions is a challenge. Readers are likely to
have encountered countless essays on heroes, and the task is to present a unique perspective that
captivates and engages the audience. This requires creativity and originality in both content and
expression.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on one's favorite hero might initially seem straightforward,
the complexity lies in navigating the nuances of heroism, maintaining objectivity, exploring
personal impact, and avoiding clichГ©s. It is a task that demands thoughtful reflection,
eloquence in expression, and a commitment to delivering a narrative that resonates with the
reader.

Aaron Copland Essay
Answer each question in 100 250 words.
1.Listen to Aaron Copland s Hoe Down from Rodeo with the interactive guide in
MindTap. Your textbook claims that [Aaron Copland s] best known works are
examples of music with an American quality. After listening to Hoe Down, do you
agree or disagree with this statement? Why?
I do agree that Aaron Copland s works are examples of music with an American
quality. The reason for this is because Hoe Down was very energetic and was
square dance music. Square dancing and square dance music is something that is of
American tradition and people all over America enjoy to hear. I also agree with this
statement because Hoe Down has been used in movies and I am sure that so have his
other best known works. Movies make up a great deal of the American life and
without good music those movies cannot reach their potential therefore the wonderful
music helps give quality to both the ear and the eye because of the visuals and
emotions that come with listening to the music.

Reflection Of Jose Rizal Play
The play was not what I expected. The characters, the plot surpassed my
expectations. The play was excellent. It was really worth my money and time. I
read about Rizal s sacrifices but to actually see it with my eyes was an eye opener
and truly moved my heart. Reading and seeing are actually different things. I m not
a fan of historical movies or even play but this one was actually different from any
other. It is a different experience when you saw the events straight out from your
history book and I was caught off guard with the experience presented to me by this
play. And, when the audience left the hall, each one of them brought home different
life lessons and realizations on the life of Rizal.
Since we all have a background of the life of Rizal, I thought that the play was
predictable but I was really amazed with the play because you can really see the hard
work of each character, the efforts they ve put. ... Show more content on

We have this admiration of the work in the West that we watched their films, buy
their products, and eat their food that we sometimes lost our identity on the way.
We idolized them too much that we are blinded that ours is much better than theirs.
Jose Rizal was our national hero because he loved the country. That love drove him
to fight. The message of the play was also, fight for our freedom, fight for what we
think is right. So in every decision our government made, we must be updated as to
keep us well informed with what s happening in our society. The play is an eye
opener to every people who turned blind on the injustices and prejudices of our
society. As Rizal once quoted, Ang kabataan ay ang pag asa ng bayan , it is up to us
to stand our ground and fight. Even with the burial of Marcos, students went out and
rallied. Teenagers posted about their thoughts and opinions in the social media,
standing up on their own. Rizal placed his trust on us, and it is in our hands not to

Modern Dance, By Miriam Giguere
Contemporary dance was developed in the early 20th century as a movement against
the rigid technique of ballet (Blackfish Arts Acadamy, 2006). Using the natural lines
of the body to create new movements, the contemporary dance style usually has more
fluidity than that of conventional dance styles (Freeman, 2013). In the book
Beginning Modern Dance, Miriam Giguere says The function of dance is
communication. . . . By communication is not meant to tell a story or to project an
idea, but to communicate experience by means of action . . . out of this came a
different use of the body as an instrument, as the violin is an instrument. Body is the
basic instrument, intuitive, instinctive. As a result an entirely contemporary set of
technics was evolved. (Giguere, 2014).
A forerunner in the changing face of modern dance was choreographer and performer
Martha Graham. Graham took up dance at the age of 22, during the time when
women were fighting for the right to vote (Mapes, 2013). Being both shorter and
older than most dancers, Graham had to use her body in a different way to the
others at the Denishawn School of dance. This went against all of the principles that
female dancers had originally been taught (Mapes, 2013). Over the duration of her
career, Graham created one of the only sets of technique that is still practiced in
today s contemporary style (Mapes, 2013). Focusing on two main principles,
contraction and release, Graham s technique was strikingly different to that of

Chemistry s Presence in Technology Isn t Always Blatantly...
It is typical when analyzing technology for the presence of chemistry to be hardly
noticed or failed to be seen at all. This is a false assessment, and is caused by
simply not looking close enough. Chemistry s presence is not always blatantly
obvious, even though it is truly at the root of most all technology we use on a daily
basis. One of the fields of technology that we do in fact use on a daily basis that
chemistry impacts, and therefore impacts whole other genres of technology, is the
battery. Although often taken for granted, the battery is a huge part of the technology
we use today and chemistry is integral to it. The advancement of chemistry advances
the technology and materials we use to make batteries and therefore advances a...

With the foundation of the battery s origin understood, a basic understanding of
how a battery works is needed to see how new resources improved upon it. A battery
consists of one or many cells. Within a cell there is a cathode and an anode that are
separated by an electrolyte. The electrolyte is typically an acid or a salt. When a
closed circuit is made between the anode and the cathode, the positive ions move
from the anode to the cathode, and the negative ions move from the cathode to the
anode. The movement of ions causes a current that can be harnessed (Battery 168).
The whole idea of a battery is a chemistry concept, but where chemistry is useful
now is finding new materials for the anode, cathode, and electrolyte to make
stronger currents. It is easy to see that current day batteries have advanced beyond
using vinegar and iron bars such as the Parthian Battery. Typical batteries today are
alkaline batteries. These batteries are far more complex than the Parthian Battery
and use a wide array of elements to create a strong current. Alkaline batteries are
able to be and used because of knowledge we have gained through chemistry
research. It was not by accident that certain elements came together to create an
alkaline battery, it was through pursuit in the understanding of chemistry. The battery
was able to be advanced by discovery of new resources that were found to be useful
in a battery cell, and this concept

Before the mid 1970s, NASCAR was never televised live. In 1979, the Daytona
500 became the first NASCAR event televised in its entirety. Since then, television
has become the main branding medium for NASCAR, and it appears to be
working well. One of NASCAR s strengths is they brokered a comprehensive 2.4
billion dollar contract with FOX and NBC in 2011. This will not only help NASCRA
to spread their brand, but also earn $2.4 billion from FOX and NBC. Another
strength is the loyalty of their fans. According to the drive to connect, in 2015,
NASCAR had 70 million fans. Their fans are considered the most loyal in all of
sports, making NASCAR the #1 sport for fan brand loyalty. Fans are not only loyal
to the sport, but also to sponsors. This is one reason why sponsors are willing to
pay the high premiums to align themselves with NASCAR. Their ability to
successfully co brand themselves is an invaluable strength. As mentioned above,
their fans patron the sponsors, increasing their profits. It s because of this, that
allows this co branding strategy to work. Because NASCAR knows how important it
is for sponsors to see an increase in sales, they offer training sessions to help them
make the most out of their sponsorship. Sponsorships make up 50% of NASCAR s
revenue so it s vital that these partnerships are maintained. Another success is their
ability to differentiate themselves from the competition. NASCAR partners with
Hollywood to strategically place their
Jonathan Edwards Puritan Beliefs
One can hear a sermon any day of the week, because there are many preachers out
there in the world. Many sermons are retold Bible stories from the Old and New
Testaments that tell how our ancestors lived, and teach us life applications of how
to glorify God while we are living our lives. Some examples from the Bible are:
David and Goliath and the lesson of courage, Deuteronomy 32:4 ... a God of truth
and without iniquity, just and right is he (KJV), and the Roman s Road of
confession, acceptance of Christ, and salvation. For over a thousand years God s
word has been preached by many faithful men who follow Him. However, there
were some of those faithful men who used God s Word and their own
improvisation to convict sinners and to put their trust in God. Those times resulted
in an era called the Great Awakening of the 18th century and they also put an end to
the segregation era of the 20th century. Two of the faithful men during those eras
were Jonathan Edwards and Martin Luther King, Jr. . They both preached great
sermons on confession and love. But they also had different points of view. When
we read the two sermons our lives and actions may never be the same as they were
before, because of feeling ashamed and convicted, then we begin to live our lives as
Christians.
Jonathan Edwards was a Puritan minister who sparked the era of the Great
Awakening with his most famous sermon, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.
The Great Awakening was an era in the 18th
White Collar Crimes And Street Crimes
White collar crimes are just as prevalent today as ordinary street crimes. Studies
show that criminal acts committed by white collar criminals continue to increase
due to unforeseen opportunities presented in the corporate world, but these crimes
are often overlooked or minimally publicized in reference to criminal acts on the
street. Many street crimes are viewed as unnecessary, horrendous crimes because
they are committed by lower class citizens, whereas white collar crimes are illegal
acts committed by seemingly respectable people whose occupational roles are
considered successful and often admired by many (Piquero, 2014). These views
often allow white collar crimes to slip through the cracks and carry lesser charges or
punishment.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He disagreed and argued that respectable people from the upper social classes
committed a great deal of harmful criminal acts in the course of their occupations and
in the furtherance of their economic and business interests (Quinney, 1964).
According to Sutherland (1949), upper class criminality was ignored by the
government and the general public because the perpetrators did not fit the common
stereotype of the criminal. A white collar offender is referred to as a person who
commits a financially motivated nonviolent crime through a business and/or
governmental job (Braithwaite, 1985). Within criminology, the term white collar
crime was clarified further by Edwin Sutherland in 1939 as a crime committed by a
person of respectability and high social status in the course of his occupation
(Quinney, 1964).
There was a time when white collar was not actually considered because of laws
being particularly targeted for violent crimes. Nevertheless, times have changed for
a better outcome dealing with white collar crime. Even recent years have shown
results. As stated by the FBI (2010 2011) During FY 2011, cases pursued by the
FBI resulted in 242 indictments/information and 241 convictions of corporate
criminals. Numerous cases are pending plea agreements and trials. During FY 2011,
the FBI secured $2.4 billion in restitution orders and $16.1 million in fines from
corporate criminals. So it is a newly developed crime
Why Might People Say That Compression In Music Is

Research Question: Why might people say that compression in music is more
detrimental than beneficial?
Ever since I attended my first concert I had a sudden realization that the music
sounded so full and rich. It made me wonder how people get their music to sound
the way they want it to sound. This had me consider how music is made along with
all the steps in the process from writing it to distributing it. The process that most
intrigued me was the production and mastering aspect of it, which comprised of
taking the recordings of instruments or vocals and choosing what to do with them to
make everything sound cohesive with one another. I had learned somewhat recently
of how compression has impacted music both positively and negatively. If audio
compression did not exist some aspects of music would never be able to be heard
over others and music would cost more due to data compression of music files. This
research question affected my values when it comes to obtaining music I will always

The author argued that dynamic range has not decreased from this process. He says
that there was just heavier limiting which decreases the overall sound which makes
everything sound quieter. Some record producers might agree that everything as
whole might have gotten quieter from increasing use of limiters which limit the
sound of the overall song. Many audio engineers have disagreed with him and say
that it pretty much does the same thing as compressing the whole song. They have
argued if the loud parts get quieter and the quiet parts stay the same that the range
between them is closer, which results in less dynamic range. The author seems to be
a little biased in the way he doesn t state that without explicitly the processes being
identical they effectively do the same thing with the range of
Department Of Defense Case Study
The Department of Defense (DoD) chose to incorporate open source software
(OSS), in their approach to the software development for the military organizations
(O Brien Marakas, 2011). The OSS approach is beneficial, because it allows users
to study the computer code as a way to enhance and redistribute modified versions
of the software to other users (Chief Information Officer, 2009). The DoD wants
software to be open for peer review to strengthen the software reliability and be
open to the public as a secure source. John Scott of Mercury Federal Systems,
helped to incorporate the DoD s open source changes to be used by the public,

CMIS is utilized by 16,000 users, which consist of DISA employees and military
contractors, and is used on modern Web based platforms for data input (O Brien

Any business looking to conduct business with the DoD would be wise to choose
to work with OSS, because the software is being tested by the military and would be
a strong system. The ability to collaborate across multiple platforms keeps the
software updated and efficient for businesses to stay ahead of technology. The ability
to use cloud computing would benefit businesses by allowing their information to be
accessed from any location. Cloud computing with CMIS would be especially
important to a business so that they could access trainings and payment information
from virtually anywhere (O Brien Marakas, 2011).

Formal Grammar For A Good Writer
Nicholas Patterson
ENC 1102
Professor Tarkan Blanco
29 March, 2016
Prompt: Argue whether the formal instruction of grammar in school is helpful and
enlightening for someone who wants to become a good writer.
Formal Grammar instruction is necessary to become a good writer It is fairly easy
to determine a person s educational background based on a single conversation;
whether through written messages or a verbal conversation, word choice and
grammar are very apparent. Grammar in the formal writing style is needed to ensure
that writing is flowing and understandable. Without it a writer will not be respected
in the writing world. American English is very complex with various tenses and
many different grammatical rules that can be very hard to learn and master. However
rules are very important in order to use the language effectively. Even though some
argue that it can be a waste of time, formal grammar instruction is an essential
component to becoming a good writer because students themselves want to improve
their grammar, and without proper usage, written works can become confusing.
Grammar has been taught in English since the sixteenth century, with the grammar
school, Which focused on academic studies, with the assumption that many of their
pupils would go on to higher education (Richardson). While these schools didn t
educate the pupils only in grammar, this idea of grammar school for children who
were expected to have more intellectual success than those that went
Harold Krebs In A Soldier s Home
In Soldier s Home, Ernest Hemingway paints a vivid picture of Harold Krebs return
home from World War I and the issues he confronts while trying to shift his way back
towards the ordinary life he once lived. After his battling over seas took place, it took
Krebs over a year to finally leave Europe and make his way back home to his family

difficult to express his feelings towards all he had seen during his tour of duty,

and most crucial battles mankind has ever seen. Therefore, Krebs difficulty in

prevented him from forming any type of relationship with the opposite sex, but It

soldiers who had returned before him, who largely exaggerated the truth in order to
keep their listeners attention. Krebs soon came to revelation that all he had to do

Catcher in the Rye Theme Essay
Catcher in the Rye written by J.D. Salinger, is a novel in which the author creates
much irony in the way he presents the loss of innocence or the fall from innocence in
his main character, Holden Caulfield. While Holden clearly believes in protecting the
innocence of children in society, he himself cannot seem to hang onto his own
innocence. Throughout the novelHolden shows his love and protection for childhood
innocence, the irony that he in fact himself may be losing his own childhood
innocence mainly due to the responsibilities which he has taken on, and also shows
that he may be more innocent than the reader first thinks as his simplified view of a

Diego VelГЎzquez s Las Meninas
Las Meninas by Diego VelГЎzquez is depicted as a group portrait of Spanish King
Philip IV (8 April 1605 17 September 1665) at the Habsburg court. The painting well
demonstrates VelГЎzquez s painting techniques that can be recognized by dramatic
mood, rich color and extreme contrast between light and dark. It is absolutely
extraordinary and implies influences VelГЎzquez has had, especially Flemish
Baroque realism. VelГЎzquez had a deeper ambition in his mind when creating this
masterpiece. He wanted to earn the title that can ensure him a high position in society.
So, VelГЎzquez had this desire for an aristocratic title better than any other single

Dance Music and Moral Panic
ME5331ass2 Discuss one of the ideas of the following writers in relation to
popular music culture: Stanley Cohen. You may use a case study approach in your
answer. Scholars such as Rietveld suggest that; The British Culture has a long
history in regulating pleasures associated with parties. A fear seems to exist of the
unregulated body that dances and is intoxicated...It is therefore not surprising that
the acid house parties; that heady mix of house n E events in 1998, were followed
by various moral panics. (Rietveld, 1998, pp. 253 4.) The dance music genre that
became popularised in the late 1980s led to the media amplification and
misunderstanding regarding issues surrounding drug misuse as well as the creation of

Crass also joined the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) in order to work

be theorised that many other bands such as Conflict and Flux of Pink Indians also
adopted the anarcho punk style as part of their ideology recognising it as a socio
political ideal rather than a means to gain further popularity. It can be theorised that
the intention of anarcho punk is to deteriorate government or outside oppression.
They challenge capitalism suggesting that the economic system itself is problematic
and simply a way of producing profit through social hierarchies. In regards to Cohen
s theoretical assumptions regarding societal panic the aforementioned genre of
anrcho punk can be used as an example of how a misunderstood sub culture within a
popular music genre can be demonised and seen as the cause of the moral and socio
political problems within society. During the emergence of the punk movement those
involved in the culture were perceived by the media as being dangerous and violent
thugs who threatened the established moral system within civilized societies through
lyrical content that directly challenged the status quo. This is evident for example in

The Marriage of Heaven and Hell Essay
The Marriage of Heaven and Hell
Although many of the Romantic poets displayed a high degree of anxiety
concerning the way in which their works were produced and transmitted to an
audience, few, if any, fretted quite as much as William Blake did. Being also a
highly accomplished engraver and printer, he was certainly the only one of the
Romantics to be able to completely move beyond mere fretting. Others may have
used their status or wealth to exert their influence upon the production process, but
ultimately, they were at the mercy of editors, publishers, and printers and relied on
others to turn their visions into published works. Blake, on the other hand, was his
own editor, engraver, printer, and publisher. He was able to control to... Show more

About his actual method Blake was very secretive and never published it. In fact,
not even his closest friends were given the privilege of watching him work on his
relief etchings. He does, however, repeatedly allude to this infernal method , which
he claimed was given to him by his deceased brother Robert in a vision. In The
Marriage of Heaven and Hell, a devil wrote with corroding fire upon the side of the
abyss of the five senses, and Blake says that he would print in the infernal method,
by corrosives . . . melting apparent surfaces away, and displaying the infinite which
was hid (plates 7 14).
Although scholars differ in their opinion of what Blake s method was and
acknowledge that since Blake guarded it very tightly, there is little chance of ever
ascertaining the precise details of his technique, much progress has been made to
discover the general principle of his relief etchings. In 1947, William Hayter, Joan
Miro, and Ruthven Todd made an attempt to discover Blake s method by
experimenting with making relief etchings that would reproduce the distinctive
appearance and feel of his illuminated works. Using as reference his printed works,
a fragment of a rejected copper plate for America, and electrotypes for some of the
Songs of Innocence, they were able derive a method of using acids to make
satisfactory relief etchings on copperplates (Bindman, 106).

An Analysis Of Desiree s Baby
The Art of Description: The Role of Setting in DГ©sirГ©e s Baby In many
important works of literature, setting is important in establishing a sense of time,
place, and lifestyle. It does so by relating such details as the time period and
location of the story. From these details, the reader is able to develop a sense of the
moral codes and social customs that dictate attitudes and behaviors in the story.
Furthermore, the reader is able to sense whether or not characters fit into their
surroundings, which could create tension and conflict in the story if they do not.
Setting plays a major role in Kate Chopin s short story DГ©sirГ©e s Baby, a story
centering on human relationships in the Southern United States. Set sometime in the
nineteenth century before the American Civil War, DГ©sirГ©e s Baby takes place on
the L Abri plantation in Louisiana. This information alone is enough to give the
reader a sense of the central conflict of the story: racerelations. Chopin uses the
setting, which includes the time period, location, and social stigmas of the time, in
DГ©sirГ©e s Baby to create an environment that directly influences the interactions
between all characters.
In the South, especially in Louisiana, the expected relationship between masters and
slaves was one of domination and submission. Masters would routinely beat their
slaves for even minor infractions, or simply to remind them of their place in society.

many movies through the usage of continuity editing, cause and effect for narrative

Pros And Cons Of The Cosmological Argument
The Cosmological Argument has several forms, but is essentially a proof for the
existence of the God of classical theism. It investigates to respond to the human
wonder for answers to questions like who created the universe? It is an a posteriori
argument, meaning that it is based on our experience of the world around us. The
argument has been around for many years, but it was St. Thomas Aquinas in his book
Summa Theologica who established the argument as we know it today. Aquinas had
five proofs for the existenceof God, of which three are cosmological; they are the First
Cause Argument, the Prime Mover Argument and the Argument from Contingency.
The First Cause Argument is troubled with the idea that all things have a cause and if
we trace back the chain of causes, there must be an original cause which began
everything else. People take this cause without a cause to be God. In a similar way
the Prime Mover Argument declares that everything has to be moved by something
and then a chain of movement is constructed up with each items movement resting on
the movement of the item before it. Since the Cosmological Argumentrejects infinity,
this chain of movement must have been started by something, because it is by our
own experience that all things... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It rejects the idea of an infinite universe because as time is always being added on,
time cannot be infinite. This argument was also discovered in the western world by
William L. Craig, who revised it to some extent. The argument states that if the
universe was infinite then all of time would exist simultaneously. A good example of
this idea would be Hilbert s paradox of the Grand Hotel, which was introduced by
David Hilbert and it proved that a fully occupied hotel with infinitely many rooms
may still accommodate additional guests, even infinitely many of them and that this
process may be repeated infinitely
Issues At Junk Van
The first year of 1 800 JUNK Van s existence saw success due to the virtual business
model that Marcus Kingo implemented. However, with the rapid growth of the
business and future plans, Kingo needs to address some serious operational issues
going forward. To do this, he must thoroughly analyze his current processes and
determine both the current and future needs of the business. Once this is complete,
Kingo can be betterprepared to choose the most appropriate information technology
solution that will provide the greatest valueto 1 800 JUNK Van.
Process Issues at Junk Van
There are numerous problems with the Junk Van s current process. Inefficiencies
exist in the system that are preventing the business from maximizing value, such as
drivers having to sometimes go back to the customer s location in order to collect
money. Data consolidation in many areas of the process is also wasting valuable
resources that could be better focused elsewhere. This and other manual
procedures are partly responsible for mistakes being made and errors occurring.
Having one live database copy is impractical and ineffective, especially considering
the company s virtual business model. Changes are bound to arise and there needs
to be a centralized place where all team members can go to make updates and look
up relevant information in real time. Emailing information back and forth among
several people makes it easy for some of that information to get lost in the mix.
Kingo must also address his

one of biggest genocides in history.), and Bashar Al Assad (The man who denied

the world s most controversial leaders in mankind s history. However, there is one

Common Themes In Siddhartha
Do you know the difference between knowledge and wisdom? Most people don t
know how to explain it, so allow me to shed some light to the situation. Siddhartha,
written by Hermann Hesse, is a notable novel that tells the story of a young man,
Siddhartha, in search of finding his true Self. He sacrifices everything, almost to the
point of self destruction, before finding what he really is seeking for. Throughout
the search, he begins to discover the true meaning of life by interacting with other
people and learning how to adapt to the real world. He was educated of the art of
love and sex from a prostitute, Kamala, and from the son they created, Little
Siddhartha. He also discovered how to conduct business from a rich merchant,
Kamaswami, and was taught by a ferryman, Vasudeva, on how to convey
understanding from a river. Siddhartha then realized that in order to really know and
learn something, you must experience it yourself; not by listening to other people tell
of their experiences. Hermann Hesses novel, Siddhartha, Herman Hesse uses
characterization, experiences and events, and comparisons to develop the theme that
knowledge can be communicated, but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the Illustrious Buddha taught about the world, he had to divide it into Samsara
and Nirvana, into illusion and truth, into suffering and salvation. One cannot do

repeatedly (Hesse 143). Siddhartha explains to Govinda, based on his experience with
the Buddha, that you must experience things for yourself in order to gain wisdom.
With much experience, you gain knowledge. With much knowledge, you gain
wisdom. Therefore, it is as the theme stated, knowledge can be communicated, but not
wisdom (Hesse 142). You can talk and communicate about your experiences
(knowledge), but you cannot make others learn by it

Milton Glaser, born in 1929 is one of the most honorable and well respected

Second Greco-Persian War Essay
Ancient Greece has often been described as not only the foundation of democracy,
but the foundation of modern European civilisation and prosperity. Although,
throughout history, this groundbreaking civilisation has had its ancient sovereignty
threatened multiple times, but managed to stand its ground against some of the
largest empires the world has even seen, like the gargantuan Persian empire
stretching from Egypt to Tibet. Power is often compared to something along the
lines of quality over quantity, and this can certainly be applied to the Second Greco
Persian War of 480 479 BCE. During this time Greecewas in fact not an empire, but
rather a collection of various city states, although these city states managed to hold
off the Persian invasion together in the iconic battles of Thermopylae, Plataea and
Salamis. Modern day historians, often dispute the fact that the second Greco Persian
war was more of a victory for the Greek... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the Persian army arrived in Athens, the city was almost entirely wiped off the
map, in a brutal act of revenge by King Xerxes I, after the embarrassing results of
Persia s first invasion in 449 BCE. Many modern day historians often use Xerxes
motive of essentially destroying Athens in revenge, as a way of supporting the
argument that it was only a minor defeat, as he achieved what he sought after.
Although, this completely disregards the incredible victories that Greece triumphed
in during the second invasion, and that Xerxes more or less so wanted to conquer all
of Greece, thus showing that the revenge was a secondary consideration to
imperialism. After the events at Thermopylae, Artemesium and Athens, came another
world changing battle: The Battle of Salamis. The Battle

The Runaway Twin by Peg Kehret is a fascinating book. The way the author

Stereotypes In The Lion King
In regard to the representation of POC in animation, there was, surprisingly, a
proportionally greater representation of POC in the 1930 s and 1940 s: an almost
2:1 ratio of animated characters of colour to the population of POC in the United
States. However, this was mostly a result of the large number of racist caricatures
and depictions of minority groups positive representation of POC during this time
was virtually nonexistent (8 page 65, 7 page 177). As time has passed, there has
been a sharp and steady decline in overtly racist portrayals of POC in animation due
to the self censure of animation companies (7 page 173), however, rather than
replacing their racist portrayals of POC with positive ones, studios simply removed
POC from their films altogether, resulting in a decline in the overall representation of

To journey the world requires a traveler to possess qualities that pertain to the culture
and people in which they are attempting to assimilate with, but the traveler must do
their best to lose all the traits and habits that their home has burdened them with and
jump into a new culture with the eagerness to learn new traits and discover what
this new segment of the world has to offer. Over the past summer, I journeyed with a
group of my fellow high school friends to the coasts of Irelandin which for one week,
we travelled and assimilated with the many different cultures that one can find within
the plains of this great country. The discovery of a genuine connection between our

We made our way back to Shannon airport on a hazy June morning, and throughout
the entire flight back, all I could think about was what Cillian had said to us. I had
discovered lifelong friends, magnificent scenery, and, most importantly, a goal set
on my mind to live like Cillian. When we returned to the States, I sparked the idea
of making a shirt that portrays a picture of our group with Cillian and under a
quote in typical Irish letters Live Like Cillian. I will hold onto the shirt for the rest
of my life as a constant reminder that my goal in life should not be riches but rather
to create enduring bonds with those dear to me and enjoy every minute that I spend
with them. Ireland taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and there is no
way I can fully repay her kinsmen for what they instilled in
Lady With The Dog Chekhov
The majority of women say, All men are dogs weather because of a past
experience or a bad break up. However, I don t think they have taken into
consideration of how a man s life struggle could have affected that. For example,
Dimitri Antirich Guav, the main character in the short story, The lady with the dog
by Anton Chekhov had married young and was in an unhappy relationship. As a
result, he has a growing love for Anna. In what ways does Dmitri prove his love for
Anna is just to fulfill his narcissistic persona, could this love be sincere or enough to
fill up his ego?
The way apes on talks about others can really say a lot about themselves. Dmitri, a
remarkable character in the story is a forty year old man that is unhappy with his
marriage which started in college. Acknowledge, it can be that he, an 18th century
man, consider woman to be a lower class than him. For instance, he secretly

First Presidential Debate Analysis
On September 26, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump encountered each other in
the first presidential debate. The debate is now considered as the most watched
debate in the U.S. history with an average audience of 84 million, and held at
Hofstra University in New York. Clinton and Trump s comments were of big
controversy as they were bringing each other s secrets to the light, some of the
issues that they tackled were gender, taxes, and national security, inviting the
people to vote for one of them this November. Trump claimed that Clinton prepared
herself for the debate. While she admitted it, she also said she was prepared to be
president. Trump would defend his opinions and plans on lowering the taxes on the
wealthy while Clinton would defend herself because of the leaked emails. Clinton
did a lot of publicity during the debate on why people should not trust Trump. One
of the most controversial comments of the night was when Clinton stated that
Trump would verbally abuse women, making an example out of ex Miss Universe
Alicia Machado. Trump criticized deals made or approved by Clinton s husband
Bill, stating that she was not helping to improve people s lives. Clinton admitted fear
of Trump handling nuclear codes as he is so erratic. On October 10th, both found

would imply that President Barack Obama was not born in the U.S. during her
campaign in 2008 and now they are supporting each other. Clinton claimed that
Russia was the one responsible for her email hacks while Trump attacked her as a liar
and if he becomes president, he will take care of the
Censorship And Censorship Of The Internet
Censorship of the Internet is on the rise in highly populated states today. Although
the Internet is considered as one of the most significant tools for the public sphere,
many users have decried the Internet s benefits and seen the Internet as a double
edged sword . Even as the Internet connects most of the world and gives valuable
access to information, the same tool allows access to material that may be considered
dangerous or harmful. The recent increase in discussion on the act of censorshipof the
Internetis part of the reaction to institutionalised censorship, particularly governmental
censorship, of a public tool. Since censorship describes the suppression of public
information in order to hide content that may be considered objectionable or harmful
to the audience, as determined by governments or institutions, this particular outcry
stems from the idea that what is considered harmful to society is subjective and
should not be judged by an institution alone. Censorship can then become detrimental
towards society by suppressing the human right to freedom of expression as well as
also becoming a tool in the act of limiting the rights of minorities. In contrast,
supporters of Internet censorship focus on the protection of inappropriate and
harmful information from children and communities. By censoring certain websites
that provide content that are obscene or harmful to minors, illicit activities such as
kidnappings or cyber bullying become less common. With
Critical Understanding Of Turbofan Engines
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Turbofan engines are the family of jet engines being majorly employed on
commercial aircrafts these days. There are several reasons for this. This project aims
at critical understanding of Turbofan by adopting research methodology which also
includes learning its limitations and suggesting new ways to overcome the same.
As the name suggests, turbo refers to a gas turbine engine and the term fan refers to a
ducted fan at the start of the engine in order to increase the flow of the incoming air.
Turbofan combines the high efficiency of the propeller engines as well as the power
obtained from jet engines. A typical turbofan engine generally contains the fan,
compressor (low and high pressure), combustion chamber, turbine ... Show more

Essentially a turbofan engine is a turbojet with a fan at the front of the engine. This
fan has not only made the engine quieter but also more efficient. With increasing fuel
rates and demand for sustainable development ideas, turbofan has gained even more
popularity due to its low fuel consumption.
Unlike any other air breathing engine, it gives a high thrust with low fuel
consumption. This implies that its specific impulse which is the thrust to fuel
consumption ratio is high.
The by pass air is the factor for all these achievements of turbofan. The major thrust
production is done by by pass air and the residual by the core.
This project will address the Trent 900 and its variants in depth with respect to the
technology and how a theoretical turbofan engine is applied practically and
commercially.
2.0 ROLLS ROYCE TRENT 900
The British firm Rolls Royce gave birth to one of its most successful series of
engines namely, TRENT series.
This series of high by pass ratio engines have three spools and is in use on several
Boeing and Airbus aircrafts.
The TRENT 900 powered its first flight of the Airbus A380 in May 2004. It is an
offspring of the Rolls Royce RB211.
For the A380 it typically comes in two thrust ratings, 70,000 pounds or 310 KN and
72,000 pounds or 320 KN. But it can achieve a thrust of 350KN.
The variants of this Trent family member are 970B 84, 972B 84, 997B 84 and 980 84.

How Is Judah Alike
This paper is on the book Ben Hur and Ben Hur: A Tale of Christ. This is a
wonderful story of a man named Judah as he goes through struggles with his best
friend Messala. Judah must do what must be done to protect his family. Judah goes
through many trials in the story while trying to rival with Messala. Judah s mother
and sister who have gone missing after they were taken prisoners. This paper is on
the differences between the movie and the book.
The movie and the book have many comparisons from the race, to the crucifixion
of Christ. Many similarities include how Judah became a slave, how poetic justice
was served, and that Simonides is crippled. In the story, Tirzah and her mother
have lepersy, they are healed by Christ, and they get to see Judah again and live in
happiness. In the movie and the book, has a man vs man conflict like Messala and
Judah were like brothers, they end up fighting and become enemies, Judah and his
family are taken prisoners. Another conflict is man vs man when Judah is taken as a
galley slave, and the boat is attacked by pirates. A note conflict is man vs self when
Judah is going through an internal conflict about Jesus and if He is the Messiah or
not. When Tirzah and her mother have lepersy is ... Show more content on

The most well known one was that the book started with Messala and Judah
arguing about the Roman army and Messala is not in it yet, but in the movie,
Messala was already a high rank in the Roman army and they do not fight until
Judah rejects Messalas offer to help him stop the riots against the Roman Empire. In
the book Esther had was mentioned or seen less than 5 times in the book, but in the
movie Esther has a relationship with Judah. Palm Sunday is never seen in the movie
like it is in the book. In the movie Judah and Esther touch Judah s mother and sister
who are lepers. Judah returns the ring to Pilate and tells him to give it to Arrius. Jesus

The Concept Of Cultural Erasure, Inequality And Violence
Postcolonialism: The Concept of Cultural Erasure, Inequality and Violence
Colonization can be dated back to 1492 with the Spanish venture led by Columbus.
Colonialism is defined as The policy or practice of acquiring full or partial political
control over another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it
economically (Oxford Dictionary). This expedition spread European influence
worldwide, in places such as China, Lebanon, India, and Antigua. European influence
is still prevalent today through the crossing of racial lines and shifting of cultures
towards a more civilized way of living. Colonialismis still prevalent today, in the form
of postcolonialism. Postcolonialism can be defined as America s benefaction to
nations worldwide that include dynamic influences in things such as: government,
culture, education and economy. One of the concepts erected from colonialism is
globalization. Since globalization is a direct effect of colonialism, it is no surprise
that globalization influences the same categories as postcolonialism (government,
culture, education and economy), making the two concepts almost synonymous with
minimal differences. Globalization is defined as the integration of economics and
communications of nations through increased contact by technology. Globalization
dominates the economic and social side of the field while postcolonialism dwells in
the cultural and educational aspects. This European gift has contributed to global
conflicts,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Financial Leverage
Introduction
Investment on securities such as shares, debentures, bonds are profitable as well as
exciting. It is indeed rewarding but involves a great deal of risk. Shapiro (2006)
describes the emergence and growth of the market for derivative instruments can be
traced back to the willingness of risk averse economic agents to guard themselves
against uncertainties arising out of fluctuations in asset prices. Kawaller, the
President of Kawaller Company, LLC and Managing Director of the Kawaller Fund in
Brooklyn, NY (2008) analysed the prevailing scenario and stated that currency risk is
an inherent aspect of international commerce. Fortunately, for enterprises that
function in this space particularly for those that transact with counterparties ... Show

So a company should maintain a high level of interest coverage ratio (ICR) in order
to meet its debt obligations. A positive sign is expected between ICR and derivatives
usage.
Liquidity
Nance et al. also argue that firms can reduce the expected financial distress and
agency costs associated with long term debt by maintaining greater short term
liquidity. The variable used as proxy for a firm s short term liquidity is the quick
ratio. The quick ratio, a variant of the current ratio, measures a firm s ability to repay
short term operating liabilities with readily available cash.
Underinvestment
Myers (1977), Smith and Watts (1992) have found that firm value depends on the
future opportunities. If there are lots of investment opportunities available to the
firms, it seems that this firm has the capability to generate more cash flow to the firm
and to the shareholders. Consequently, this will be reflected in the stock price. So,
the value of a firm having much more investment opportunities will be higher
compared with the one of a firm with limited set of investment opportunities, which is
supported by the result form Allayannis (2001). As an indicator of investment
opportunities for the company, PPE, the ratio of a firm s capital expenditures for
property, plant, and equipment to total assets and R D is the ratio
My Life Short Story
Story About My Life During the summer of 2017 life was perfectly fine, not
worrying about stress and being carefree and single. This is why it was carefree
and fun first I had a job at McDonald s which I thought was going to be boring and
dreadful but it turned out that I loved it the managers they were nice and I was
very good at every job they gave me and then when paycheck day came I was cut
400 dollars which didn t bother me much at first because the manager said he
would fix it I just had to give him all of my hours that I worked. Giving him all of
my hours was easy to do so I did that with no problem. After I gave him my hours 2
weeks have passed and I still never got my full paycheck then finally I talked to the
managers which apparently they had no clue about it and told me to talk to
another manager and then after that my brother took a vacation to Washington
state and never came back so I was done at that point I walked out and then a few
days later they gave me my paycheck s and begged me to come back, I considered
coming back but after all of that annoyance I wanted to have a good summer so
instead I never went back. This didn t hinder me of the good summer I wanted so
from there the summer truly began. After putting up with that I went fishing with
my Dad and for the first 3 days we didn t catch one thing but we never lost hope so
we kept giving another shot and my Dad caught a 10 lb. Largemouth Bass which
was the first time I ve ever seen a Largemouth
Big Brothers Big Sisters Case Study
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a reputable preventative program for youth who are at
risk of becoming juvenile delinquents. Empirical evidence has shown that the
BBBS is a valid prevention program where we can find criminology theories being
enacted. Participants are ascertained as youth who are more likely to become
juvenile delinquents due to their lifestyle, personality and social interactions. This
program of mentoring gives an at risk youth the opportunity to bond with a
positive adult mentor who will listen, offer help and be a good example to follow
all within a community setting. I believe in this program not just because of the
evidence showing it works but in the experiences of my peers when it was first
applied to our community. I saw the positive influence in some of the participants
but as far as I am concerned, if we can help 1 or 2 it is a good program and I if I
remember correctly there was only a few that went on to make criminal choices
while most increased their peer support group. Big Brothers Big Sisters was started
by Ernest Coulter, a city court clerk who noticed that over time it the number of
youths were becoming more abundant. Ernest observed how an adult who cared
about a youth increased the likelihood of less delinquent behavior and could even
affect their turning away after criminal activity. By the simple action of asking for
volunteers to mentor these young men, Mr. Coulter began a movement which he
called Big Brothers.
Burmese Pythons in the Everglades

Python Molurus Bivatlus
One misty morning in 2003, deep under the cover of the largest subtropical
wilderness in the United States, a group of tourists set out for a day of exploration in
the Everglades. They hoped to see some of the diverse and unique species that the
Everglades are famous for, and maybe snap a few cool pictures to show their
friends. They could never have anticipated what they would actually discover. A
short way into their trek, the party was drawn to a noisy struggle nearby. They
followed their ears to a duel between an alligator and a huge Burmese Python. The
alligator clamped his jaws around the snake. The snake wrapped its body around the
alligator. The tourists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Burmese Python is one of the most invasive of these non native species. The
snakes originate from Southeast Asia, so they thrive in Florida s similar environment.
The Everglades became sort of a paradise to the pythons, since their introduction in
the early 1990 s. A female Burmese Python will lay up to 207 eggs at once. Inside her
nest, she will coil her body around the eggs to maintain a temperature of about ninety
degrees Fahrenheit. Incubation takes around two months. The python has only just
recently been observed engaging in shivering thermo genesis for the first time outside
of captivity. This is the production of body heat through muscle contractions. The
mother snake does this to raise the temperature of her nest and eggs the warmer the
incubation, the quicker they will hatch, and slither free throughout the forest,
carrying on its destructive path. With this sort of reproduction, it s no wonder they re
so easily taking over the Everglades.
Dobson 4
One of the first big releases of the Burmese Python in Florida took place in 1992.
Hurricane Andrew, a category 5 hurricane, took down a large snake importer s
warehouse, as well as causing many billions of dollars of damage.
Each year, Miami receives 12,000 exotic pet shipments, many of which are the
Burmese Python. A person who takes in a 20 inch baby python might be
understandably surprised when it becomes a 12 foot, 200

My Favourite Hero Essay. Fascinating My Real Life Hero Essay Thatsnotus

  • 1. My Favourite Hero Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "My Favorite Hero" may seem deceptively simple at first glance, but as one delves into the task, the intricacies and challenges become apparent. The difficulty lies not in expressing admiration for a hero, but in encapsulating the essence of why that particular individual holds such a significant place in one's heart. Firstly, the challenge arises from the subjective nature of heroism. What attributes and actions define a hero? Is it bravery, selflessness, resilience, or a combination of various qualities? Trying to strike a balance between personal feelings and providing a universally relatable portrayal can be a tightrope walk. Moreover, the emotional connection one has with their favorite hero can cloud objectivity. The writer must navigate the fine line between genuine admiration and the risk of idolizing the hero, which may inadvertently result in a biased or overly sentimental piece. The essay also requires a delicate exploration of the hero's impact on the writer's life. This involves introspection and the ability to articulate the subtle ways in which the hero has influenced personal beliefs, values, or aspirations. Expressing these sentiments with clarity and depth is a formidable task that demands careful consideration of language and tone. Additionally, avoiding clichГ©s and generic descriptions is a challenge. Readers are likely to have encountered countless essays on heroes, and the task is to present a unique perspective that captivates and engages the audience. This requires creativity and originality in both content and expression. In conclusion, while writing an essay on one's favorite hero might initially seem straightforward, the complexity lies in navigating the nuances of heroism, maintaining objectivity, exploring personal impact, and avoiding clichГ©s. It is a task that demands thoughtful reflection, eloquence in expression, and a commitment to delivering a narrative that resonates with the reader. On a related note, for those seeking assistance in crafting essays or any other written content, various resources are available. • 2. Aaron Copland Essay Answer each question in 100 250 words. 1.Listen to Aaron Copland s Hoe Down from Rodeo with the interactive guide in MindTap. Your textbook claims that [Aaron Copland s] best known works are examples of music with an American quality. After listening to Hoe Down, do you agree or disagree with this statement? Why? I do agree that Aaron Copland s works are examples of music with an American quality. The reason for this is because Hoe Down was very energetic and was square dance music. Square dancing and square dance music is something that is of American tradition and people all over America enjoy to hear. I also agree with this statement because Hoe Down has been used in movies and I am sure that so have his other best known works. Movies make up a great deal of the American life and without good music those movies cannot reach their potential therefore the wonderful music helps give quality to both the ear and the eye because of the visuals and emotions that come with listening to the music. 2.Listen to Copland s Simple Gifts and Bizet s Farandole from L Arlesienne, Suite No. 2 with the interactive guide in MindTap. What similarities can you find in both selections based on what you heard and what you read in chapter 3? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another similarity is that the melody is repeated several times in both pieces. Yet another similarity is that both selections have moderate tempo in some parts of the pieces. One last similarity is that both selections include many major chords, meaning that the sounds tend to be
  • 3. Reflection Of Jose Rizal Play The play was not what I expected. The characters, the plot surpassed my expectations. The play was excellent. It was really worth my money and time. I read about Rizal s sacrifices but to actually see it with my eyes was an eye opener and truly moved my heart. Reading and seeing are actually different things. I m not a fan of historical movies or even play but this one was actually different from any other. It is a different experience when you saw the events straight out from your history book and I was caught off guard with the experience presented to me by this play. And, when the audience left the hall, each one of them brought home different life lessons and realizations on the life of Rizal. Since we all have a background of the life of Rizal, I thought that the play was predictable but I was really amazed with the play because you can really see the hard work of each character, the efforts they ve put. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We have this admiration of the work in the West that we watched their films, buy their products, and eat their food that we sometimes lost our identity on the way. We idolized them too much that we are blinded that ours is much better than theirs. Jose Rizal was our national hero because he loved the country. That love drove him to fight. The message of the play was also, fight for our freedom, fight for what we think is right. So in every decision our government made, we must be updated as to keep us well informed with what s happening in our society. The play is an eye opener to every people who turned blind on the injustices and prejudices of our society. As Rizal once quoted, Ang kabataan ay ang pag asa ng bayan , it is up to us to stand our ground and fight. Even with the burial of Marcos, students went out and rallied. Teenagers posted about their thoughts and opinions in the social media, standing up on their own. Rizal placed his trust on us, and it is in our hands not to put his trust on
  • 4. Modern Dance, By Miriam Giguere Contemporary dance was developed in the early 20th century as a movement against the rigid technique of ballet (Blackfish Arts Acadamy, 2006). Using the natural lines of the body to create new movements, the contemporary dance style usually has more fluidity than that of conventional dance styles (Freeman, 2013). In the book Beginning Modern Dance, Miriam Giguere says The function of dance is communication. . . . By communication is not meant to tell a story or to project an idea, but to communicate experience by means of action . . . out of this came a different use of the body as an instrument, as the violin is an instrument. Body is the basic instrument, intuitive, instinctive. As a result an entirely contemporary set of technics was evolved. (Giguere, 2014). A forerunner in the changing face of modern dance was choreographer and performer Martha Graham. Graham took up dance at the age of 22, during the time when women were fighting for the right to vote (Mapes, 2013). Being both shorter and older than most dancers, Graham had to use her body in a different way to the others at the Denishawn School of dance. This went against all of the principles that female dancers had originally been taught (Mapes, 2013). Over the duration of her career, Graham created one of the only sets of technique that is still practiced in today s contemporary style (Mapes, 2013). Focusing on two main principles, contraction and release, Graham s technique was strikingly different to that of
  • 5. Humanization In The Pet Industry The pet industry is one that is up and growing in the United States of America. Between 2009 and 2013 pet owner ship increased from 53.6% to 56.5%, which placed ownership in about 66.8 million households. (Stewart) With the substantial increase of all the pets in the US, the demand for all types of veterinarians increase. Just like human being s animals get sick as well. With the presence of trends such as pethumanization, pet owners are beginning to care about their animals more than ever. According to the survey, 70 percent of pet owners are willing to spend more on their animals to ensure wellness of their pets. The other 30 percent agreed that they would shop for the best products available for their pets. (Stewart) This again shows

  • 7. Chemistry s Presence in Technology Isn t Always Blatantly... It is typical when analyzing technology for the presence of chemistry to be hardly noticed or failed to be seen at all. This is a false assessment, and is caused by simply not looking close enough. Chemistry s presence is not always blatantly obvious, even though it is truly at the root of most all technology we use on a daily basis. One of the fields of technology that we do in fact use on a daily basis that chemistry impacts, and therefore impacts whole other genres of technology, is the battery. Although often taken for granted, the battery is a huge part of the technology we use today and chemistry is integral to it. The advancement of chemistry advances the technology and materials we use to make batteries and therefore advances a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the foundation of the battery s origin understood, a basic understanding of how a battery works is needed to see how new resources improved upon it. A battery consists of one or many cells. Within a cell there is a cathode and an anode that are separated by an electrolyte. The electrolyte is typically an acid or a salt. When a closed circuit is made between the anode and the cathode, the positive ions move from the anode to the cathode, and the negative ions move from the cathode to the anode. The movement of ions causes a current that can be harnessed (Battery 168). The whole idea of a battery is a chemistry concept, but where chemistry is useful now is finding new materials for the anode, cathode, and electrolyte to make stronger currents. It is easy to see that current day batteries have advanced beyond using vinegar and iron bars such as the Parthian Battery. Typical batteries today are alkaline batteries. These batteries are far more complex than the Parthian Battery and use a wide array of elements to create a strong current. Alkaline batteries are able to be and used because of knowledge we have gained through chemistry research. It was not by accident that certain elements came together to create an alkaline battery, it was through pursuit in the understanding of chemistry. The battery was able to be advanced by discovery of new resources that were found to be useful in a battery cell, and this concept
  • 8. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Nar Strengths Before the mid 1970s, NASCAR was never televised live. In 1979, the Daytona 500 became the first NASCAR event televised in its entirety. Since then, television has become the main branding medium for NASCAR, and it appears to be working well. One of NASCAR s strengths is they brokered a comprehensive 2.4 billion dollar contract with FOX and NBC in 2011. This will not only help NASCRA to spread their brand, but also earn $2.4 billion from FOX and NBC. Another strength is the loyalty of their fans. According to the drive to connect, in 2015, NASCAR had 70 million fans. Their fans are considered the most loyal in all of sports, making NASCAR the #1 sport for fan brand loyalty. Fans are not only loyal to the sport, but also to sponsors. This is one reason why sponsors are willing to pay the high premiums to align themselves with NASCAR. Their ability to successfully co brand themselves is an invaluable strength. As mentioned above, their fans patron the sponsors, increasing their profits. It s because of this, that allows this co branding strategy to work. Because NASCAR knows how important it is for sponsors to see an increase in sales, they offer training sessions to help them make the most out of their sponsorship. Sponsorships make up 50% of NASCAR s revenue so it s vital that these partnerships are maintained. Another success is their ability to differentiate themselves from the competition. NASCAR partners with Hollywood to strategically place their
  • 9. Jonathan Edwards Puritan Beliefs One can hear a sermon any day of the week, because there are many preachers out there in the world. Many sermons are retold Bible stories from the Old and New Testaments that tell how our ancestors lived, and teach us life applications of how to glorify God while we are living our lives. Some examples from the Bible are: David and Goliath and the lesson of courage, Deuteronomy 32:4 ... a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he (KJV), and the Roman s Road of confession, acceptance of Christ, and salvation. For over a thousand years God s word has been preached by many faithful men who follow Him. However, there were some of those faithful men who used God s Word and their own improvisation to convict sinners and to put their trust in God. Those times resulted in an era called the Great Awakening of the 18th century and they also put an end to the segregation era of the 20th century. Two of the faithful men during those eras were Jonathan Edwards and Martin Luther King, Jr. . They both preached great sermons on confession and love. But they also had different points of view. When we read the two sermons our lives and actions may never be the same as they were before, because of feeling ashamed and convicted, then we begin to live our lives as Christians. Jonathan Edwards was a Puritan minister who sparked the era of the Great Awakening with his most famous sermon, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. The Great Awakening was an era in the 18th
  • 10. White Collar Crimes And Street Crimes White collar crimes are just as prevalent today as ordinary street crimes. Studies show that criminal acts committed by white collar criminals continue to increase due to unforeseen opportunities presented in the corporate world, but these crimes are often overlooked or minimally publicized in reference to criminal acts on the street. Many street crimes are viewed as unnecessary, horrendous crimes because they are committed by lower class citizens, whereas white collar crimes are illegal acts committed by seemingly respectable people whose occupational roles are considered successful and often admired by many (Piquero, 2014). These views often allow white collar crimes to slip through the cracks and carry lesser charges or punishment.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He disagreed and argued that respectable people from the upper social classes committed a great deal of harmful criminal acts in the course of their occupations and in the furtherance of their economic and business interests (Quinney, 1964). According to Sutherland (1949), upper class criminality was ignored by the government and the general public because the perpetrators did not fit the common stereotype of the criminal. A white collar offender is referred to as a person who commits a financially motivated nonviolent crime through a business and/or governmental job (Braithwaite, 1985). Within criminology, the term white collar crime was clarified further by Edwin Sutherland in 1939 as a crime committed by a person of respectability and high social status in the course of his occupation (Quinney, 1964). There was a time when white collar was not actually considered because of laws being particularly targeted for violent crimes. Nevertheless, times have changed for a better outcome dealing with white collar crime. Even recent years have shown results. As stated by the FBI (2010 2011) During FY 2011, cases pursued by the FBI resulted in 242 indictments/information and 241 convictions of corporate criminals. Numerous cases are pending plea agreements and trials. During FY 2011, the FBI secured $2.4 billion in restitution orders and $16.1 million in fines from corporate criminals. So it is a newly developed crime
  • 11. Why Might People Say That Compression In Music Is More... Research Question: Why might people say that compression in music is more detrimental than beneficial? Ever since I attended my first concert I had a sudden realization that the music sounded so full and rich. It made me wonder how people get their music to sound the way they want it to sound. This had me consider how music is made along with all the steps in the process from writing it to distributing it. The process that most intrigued me was the production and mastering aspect of it, which comprised of taking the recordings of instruments or vocals and choosing what to do with them to make everything sound cohesive with one another. I had learned somewhat recently of how compression has impacted music both positively and negatively. If audio compression did not exist some aspects of music would never be able to be heard over others and music would cost more due to data compression of music files. This research question affected my values when it comes to obtaining music I will always buy the original album or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author argued that dynamic range has not decreased from this process. He says that there was just heavier limiting which decreases the overall sound which makes everything sound quieter. Some record producers might agree that everything as whole might have gotten quieter from increasing use of limiters which limit the sound of the overall song. Many audio engineers have disagreed with him and say that it pretty much does the same thing as compressing the whole song. They have argued if the loud parts get quieter and the quiet parts stay the same that the range between them is closer, which results in less dynamic range. The author seems to be a little biased in the way he doesn t state that without explicitly the processes being identical they effectively do the same thing with the range of
  • 12. Department Of Defense Case Study The Department of Defense (DoD) chose to incorporate open source software (OSS), in their approach to the software development for the military organizations (O Brien Marakas, 2011). The OSS approach is beneficial, because it allows users to study the computer code as a way to enhance and redistribute modified versions of the software to other users (Chief Information Officer, 2009). The DoD wants software to be open for peer review to strengthen the software reliability and be open to the public as a secure source. John Scott of Mercury Federal Systems, helped to incorporate the DoD s open source changes to be used by the public, which was an effort to speed up software development and improve the cost to make it more affordable to... The ability to collaborate across multiple platforms keeps the software updated and efficient for businesses to stay ahead of technology. • 13. Formal Grammar For A Good Writer Nicholas Patterson ENC 1102 Professor Tarkan Blanco 29 March, 2016 Prompt: Argue whether the formal instruction of grammar in school is helpful and enlightening for someone who wants to become a good writer. Formal Grammar instruction is necessary to become a good writer It is fairly easy to determine a person s educational background based on a single conversation; whether through written messages or a verbal conversation, word choice and grammar are very apparent. Grammar in the formal writing style is needed to ensure that writing is flowing and understandable. Without it a writer will not be respected in the writing world. American English is very complex with various tenses and many different grammatical rules that can be very hard to learn and master. However rules are very important in order to use the language effectively. Even though some argue that it can be a waste of time, formal grammar instruction is an essential component to becoming a good writer because students themselves want to improve their grammar, and without proper usage, written works can become confusing. Grammar has been taught in English since the sixteenth century, with the grammar school, Which focused on academic studies, with the assumption that many of their pupils would go on to higher education (Richardson). While these schools didn t educate the pupils only in grammar, this idea of grammar school for children who were expected to have more intellectual success than those that went

Harold Krebs In A Soldier s Home In Soldier s Home, Ernest Hemingway paints a vivid picture of Harold Krebs return home from World War I and the issues he confronts while trying to shift his way back towards the ordinary life he once lived. After his battling over seas took place, it took Krebs over a year to finally leave Europe and make his way back home to his family in Oklahoma. After finally finding the drive to come home, Krebs found that it was difficult to express his feelings towards all he had seen during his tour of duty, which must be attributed to the fact that he was in the heart of some of the bloodiest and most crucial battles mankind has ever seen. This is most likely due to the fact that by time Krebs made his route back home, the towns people had already had their fair share of war stories from soldiers who had returned before him, who largely exaggerated the truth in order to keep their listeners attention. Krebs soon came to revelation that all he had to do was lie in order to be heard at all. • 15. Catcher in the Rye Theme Essay Catcher in the Rye written by J.D. Salinger, is a novel in which the author creates much irony in the way he presents the loss of innocence or the fall from innocence in his main character, Holden Caulfield. While Holden clearly believes in protecting the innocence of children in society, he himself cannot seem to hang onto his own innocence. Throughout the novelHolden shows his love and protection for childhood innocence, the irony that he in fact himself may be losing his own childhood innocence mainly due to the responsibilities which he has taken on, and also shows that he may be more innocent than the reader first thinks as his simplified view of a complex world is much like an innocent child would see. The painting well demonstrates VelГЎzquez s painting techniques that can be recognized by dramatic mood, rich color and extreme contrast between light and dark. The Marriage of Heaven and Hell Essay The Marriage of Heaven and Hell Although many of the Romantic poets displayed a high degree of anxiety concerning the way in which their works were produced and transmitted to an audience, few, if any, fretted quite as much as William Blake did. Being also a highly accomplished engraver and printer, he was certainly the only one of the Romantics to be able to completely move beyond mere fretting. Others may have used their status or wealth to exert their influence upon the production process, but ultimately, they were at the mercy of editors, publishers, and printers and relied on others to turn their visions into published works. About his actual method Blake was very secretive and never published it. In fact, not even his closest friends were given the privilege of watching him work on his relief etchings. He does, however, repeatedly allude to this infernal method , which he claimed was given to him by his deceased brother Robert in a vision. In The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, a devil wrote with corroding fire upon the side of the abyss of the five senses, and Blake says that he would print in the infernal method, by corrosives . . . melting apparent surfaces away, and displaying the infinite which was hid (plates 7 14). Although scholars differ in their opinion of what Blake s method was and acknowledge that since Blake guarded it very tightly, there is little chance of ever ascertaining the precise details of his technique, much progress has been made to discover the general principle of his relief etchings. In 1947, William Hayter, Joan Miro, and Ruthven Todd made an attempt to discover Blake s method by experimenting with making relief etchings that would reproduce the distinctive appearance and feel of his illuminated works. Using as reference his printed works, a fragment of a rejected copper plate for America, and electrotypes for some of the Songs of Innocence, they were able derive a method of using acids to make satisfactory relief etchings on copperplates (Bindman, 106). An Analysis Of Desiree s Baby The Art of Description: The Role of Setting in DГ©sirГ©e s Baby In many important works of literature, setting is important in establishing a sense of time, place, and lifestyle. It does so by relating such details as the time period and location of the story. From these details, the reader is able to develop a sense of the moral codes and social customs that dictate attitudes and behaviors in the story. Furthermore, the reader is able to sense whether or not characters fit into their surroundings, which could create tension and conflict in the story if they do not. Setting plays a major role in Kate Chopin s short story DГ©sirГ©e s Baby, a story centering on human relationships in the Southern United States. Set sometime in the nineteenth century before the American Civil War, DГ©sirГ©e s Baby takes place on the L Abri plantation in Louisiana. This information alone is enough to give the reader a sense of the central conflict of the story: racerelations. Chopin uses the setting, which includes the time period, location, and social stigmas of the time, in DГ©sirГ©e s Baby to create an environment that directly influences the interactions between all characters. In the South, especially in Louisiana, the expected relationship between masters and slaves was one of domination and submission. • 27. Pros And Cons Of The Cosmological Argument The Cosmological Argument has several forms, but is essentially a proof for the existence of the God of classical theism. It investigates to respond to the human wonder for answers to questions like who created the universe? It is an a posteriori argument, meaning that it is based on our experience of the world around us. The argument has been around for many years, but it was St. Thomas Aquinas in his book Summa Theologica who established the argument as we know it today. Aquinas had five proofs for the existenceof God, of which three are cosmological; they are the First Cause Argument, the Prime Mover Argument and the Argument from Contingency. The First Cause Argument is troubled with the idea that all things have a cause and if we trace back the chain of causes, there must be an original cause which began everything else. People take this cause without a cause to be God. In a similar way the Prime Mover Argument declares that everything has to be moved by something and then a chain of movement is constructed up with each items movement resting on the movement of the item before it. Siddhartha, written by Hermann Hesse, is a notable novel that tells the story of a young man, Siddhartha, in search of finding his true Self. He sacrifices everything, almost to the point of self destruction, before finding what he really is seeking for. Throughout the search, he begins to discover the true meaning of life by interacting with other people and learning how to adapt to the real world. He was educated of the art of love and sex from a prostitute, Kamala, and from the son they created, Little Siddhartha. He also discovered how to conduct business from a rich merchant, Kamaswami, and was taught by a ferryman, Vasudeva, on how to convey understanding from a river. Siddhartha then realized that in order to really know and learn something, you must experience it yourself; not by listening to other people tell of their experiences. I think the theme of this book is to never give up no matter how difficult the challenges that are thrown at you are because in the end it will be worth it. I believe this because when Sunny was caught in the middle of a tornado she stuck her ground and tried her best to survive which she succeeded. Another example is, when Randy was caught under a few wooden boards and a a cast iron sink she tried her best to set him free, giving herself blisters in the process. She decided to run and try to find help for him she didn t just give up on him. Sunny Skyland is only 3 years old. Her and her twin sister, Starr,

Stereotypes In The Lion King In regard to the representation of POC in animation, there was, surprisingly, a proportionally greater representation of POC in the 1930 s and 1940 s: an almost 2:1 ratio of animated characters of colour to the population of POC in the United States. However, this was mostly a result of the large number of racist caricatures and depictions of minority groups positive representation of POC during this time was virtually nonexistent (8 page 65, 7 page 177). As time has passed, there has been a sharp and steady decline in overtly racist portrayals of POC in animation due to the self censure of animation companies (7 page 173), however, rather than replacing their racist portrayals of POC with positive ones, studios simply removed POC from their films altogether, resulting in a decline in the overall representation of POC in animated... So, in order to soothe the desire to defy who he typically is, he creates a potion that transforms him into an evil version of himself, Mr. Hyde. • 45. Censorship And Censorship Of The Internet Censorship of the Internet is on the rise in highly populated states today. Although the Internet is considered as one of the most significant tools for the public sphere, many users have decried the Internet s benefits and seen the Internet as a double edged sword . Even as the Internet connects most of the world and gives valuable access to information, the same tool allows access to material that may be considered dangerous or harmful. The recent increase in discussion on the act of censorshipof the Internetis part of the reaction to institutionalised censorship, particularly governmental censorship, of a public tool. Since censorship describes the suppression of public information in order to hide content that may be considered objectionable or harmful to the audience, as determined by governments or institutions, this particular outcry stems from the idea that what is considered harmful to society is subjective and should not be judged by an institution alone. Censorship can then become detrimental towards society by suppressing the human right to freedom of expression as well as also becoming a tool in the act of limiting the rights of minorities. In contrast, supporters of Internet censorship focus on the protection of inappropriate and harmful information from children and communities. By censoring certain websites that provide content that are obscene or harmful to minors, illicit activities such as kidnappings or cyber bullying become less common. With

There are several reasons for this. This project aims at critical understanding of Turbofan by adopting research methodology which also includes learning its limitations and suggesting new ways to overcome the same. As the name suggests, turbo refers to a gas turbine engine and the term fan refers to a ducted fan at the start of the engine in order to increase the flow of the incoming air. Turbofan combines the high efficiency of the propeller engines as well as the power obtained from jet engines. A typical turbofan engine generally contains the fan, compressor (low and high pressure), combustion chamber, turbine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essentially a turbofan engine is a turbojet with a fan at the front of the engine. This fan has not only made the engine quieter but also more efficient. With increasing fuel rates and demand for sustainable development ideas, turbofan has gained even more popularity due to its low fuel consumption. Unlike any other air breathing engine, it gives a high thrust with low fuel consumption. This implies that its specific impulse which is the thrust to fuel consumption ratio is high. The by pass air is the factor for all these achievements of turbofan. The major thrust production is done by by pass air and the residual by the core. This project will address the Trent 900 and its variants in depth with respect to the technology and how a theoretical turbofan engine is applied practically and commercially. 2.0 ROLLS ROYCE TRENT 900 The British firm Rolls Royce gave birth to one of its most successful series of engines namely, TRENT series. This series of high by pass ratio engines have three spools and is in use on several Boeing and Airbus aircrafts. The TRENT 900 powered its first flight of the Airbus A380 in May 2004. It is an offspring of the Rolls Royce RB211. For the A380 it typically comes in two thrust ratings, 70,000 pounds or 310 KN and 72,000 pounds or 320 KN. But it can achieve a thrust of 350KN. It is indeed rewarding but involves a great deal of risk. Shapiro (2006) describes the emergence and growth of the market for derivative instruments can be traced back to the willingness of risk averse economic agents to guard themselves against uncertainties arising out of fluctuations in asset prices. Kawaller, the President of Kawaller Company, LLC and Managing Director of the Kawaller Fund in Brooklyn, NY (2008) analysed the prevailing scenario and stated that currency risk is an inherent aspect of international commerce. So a company should maintain a high level of interest coverage ratio (ICR) in order to meet its debt obligations. A positive sign is expected between ICR and derivatives usage. Liquidity Nance et al. also argue that firms can reduce the expected financial distress and agency costs associated with long term debt by maintaining greater short term liquidity. The variable used as proxy for a firm s short term liquidity is the quick ratio. The quick ratio, a variant of the current ratio, measures a firm s ability to repay short term operating liabilities with readily available cash. Underinvestment Myers (1977), Smith and Watts (1992) have found that firm value depends on the future opportunities. Empirical evidence has shown that the BBBS is a valid prevention program where we can find criminology theories being enacted. Participants are ascertained as youth who are more likely to become juvenile delinquents due to their lifestyle, personality and social interactions. This program of mentoring gives an at risk youth the opportunity to bond with a positive adult mentor who will listen, offer help and be a good example to follow all within a community setting. I believe in this program not just because of the evidence showing it works but in the experiences of my peers when it was first applied to our community. I saw the positive influence in some of the participants but as far as I am concerned, if we can help 1 or 2 it is a good program and I if I remember correctly there was only a few that went on to make criminal choices while most increased their peer support group. Big Brothers Big Sisters was started by Ernest Coulter, a city court clerk who noticed that over time it the number of youths were becoming more abundant. Ernest observed how an adult who cared about a youth increased the likelihood of less delinquent behavior and could even affect their turning away after criminal activity. By the simple action of asking for volunteers to mentor these young men, Mr. Coulter began a movement which he called Big Brothers.

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Burmese Python is one of the most invasive of these non native species. The snakes originate from Southeast Asia, so they thrive in Florida s similar environment. The Everglades became sort of a paradise to the pythons, since their introduction in the early 1990 s. A female Burmese Python will lay up to 207 eggs at once. Inside her nest, she will coil her body around the eggs to maintain a temperature of about ninety degrees Fahrenheit. Incubation takes around two months. The python has only just recently been observed engaging in shivering thermo genesis for the first time outside of captivity. This is the production of body heat through muscle contractions. The mother snake does this to raise the temperature of her nest and eggs the warmer the incubation, the quicker they will hatch, and slither free throughout the forest, carrying on its destructive path. With this sort of reproduction, it s no wonder they re so easily taking over the Everglades. Dobson 4 One of the first big releases of the Burmese Python in Florida took place in 1992.
