Welcome back to the Wrongway Legacy!

Last time, we saw Hex meet Grace properly, Lavender grow into a
child, Rose grow into a toddler, a kidnapping take place, debates over
the raising of Hercules, Hex and Kendra becoming close friends, Eli
revealing his secrets to De, the appearance of many members of the
generation, Austin's birthday party, at which Eli and De told Elizabeth
who Austin's parents were, while Austin and Lavender became friends
upstairs.

If this doesn't all sound familiar, you might want to go back and read
the previous chapters. Just a thought. :)
Austin had gone to park, giving his 'parents' a chance to discuss what
their next move was.

“I think we should tell him the truth, Liz,” Knut was saying, “Otherwise
we'll have problems later, when the truth comes out.”

“Can't we tell him he's adopted?” Elizabeth questioned,
enthusiastically.

“Well...we could...” Knut answered, reluctantly.
“Knut, this is important to me,” Elizabeth said, sensing his reluctance,
“if we tell him he's adopted, there's no questions.”

“If it makes you happy-”

“It does.”

“-then I suppose we can tell him he's adopted...” Knut replied, letting
out a sigh. He didn't want any more lies, “but I'm going to let you tell
him, Liz. I don't think I can lie to him.”
“That's fair,” Elizabeth decided, “I'll tell him when he gets home.”

Knut nodded, and wandered away to clean up the dining room, a
constant worry about the truth on his brain.
It was a beautiful morning in Rubix, and the air was filled with the
excited chatter of children, who were playing on the smallest park in
town.

Well, most of the children were playing.
Lavender and her cousin Austin were sat in the grass by the pond,
rather than joining in with the children they didn't know.

“Why did Grandpa take us to this park?” Austin asked, leaning back a
little, “Why not the main park?”

“Because,” Lavender replied, steadily watching the roundabout, “this
one has benches for him to take a nap on while we play.”

“This park doesn't even have swings!”

“It could be worse,” Lavender said, cheerfully.
“Yeah, it could be worse,” Austin agreed, after considering this for a
moment, “Not sure how, but it could be.”

Lavender's gaze hadn't left the roundabout, “Did you hear about
Alice's new baby? We have a new cousin!”

“Mum told me as I left the house this morning...what was his name
again?”

“Owen,” Lavender responded, glancing at Austin.
“Apparently, he's adorable,” Lavender continued, “and looks a lot like
Aunty Alice.”

“My Mum said that means he'll be good-looking,” Austin said, truthfully.

“I hope he grows up soon so we can meet him properly,” Lavender
replied, thoughtfully, “Same with my sister. And Will.”
“Mum also told me about Ralph last night,” Lavender shuddered, “he's
scary.”

“Don't you know that Ralph is just some story they tell kids to scare
them?” Austin raised an eyebrow, confidently, “he's not real.”

“He is, Austin, Ralph is real! He's dangerous, too...”

“Sure thing. I bet you believe in the tooth fairy, too.” Austin glanced at
Lavender, just in time to see her blush.
“Ralph isn't a fairy,” Lavender eventually answered, in a small voice,
“Daddy said he was the reason your Mum is a zombie.”

“Whatever,” Austin smiled, “if you want to believe the scary bedtime
stories, be my guest...”

Lavender was about to respond, when her glance caught something
happening in the park. Tapping Austin lightly, she pointed, and they
both watched silently.
“What kind of name is Aphrodite, anyway?” Sharla Ottomas
demanded, cruelly, a group of kids watching her.

“It's my name,” Aphrodite sniffed, “My Mummy says Aphrodite is
beautiful...”

“Don't you know Mums are supposed to say that kind of thing?”
Gabriella Newson laughed, earning a grin from Sharla.

Aphrodite covered her face, trying to hide the tears, causing the
tormentors laugh harder.
Aphrodite moved away, but Sharla followed, continuing her insults.
Over by the tree, Lavender looked at Austin.

“We should help her,” Lavender decided. Austin nodded, “I'll go
over...wait here, Austin...”

Austin had no problems with staying behind, rather than getting
involved with a fight.
Instead, Austin kept an eye on the girls as his cousin wandered over
to Aphrodite.

“Hi there! I'm Lavender!” Promptly, Lavender offered her hand.
Cautiously, Aphrodite took it.

“Aphrodite Wrongway,”

“Really? My last name is Wrongway, too!”
“Really? That's weird,” Aphrodite commented.

“Lots of things are,” Lavender smiled, and pulled Aphrodite in for a
hug, “Come meet my cousin, Austin! He's fun!”

“Okay,” Aphrodite grinned, realising she had found some people who
she might be able to call her friends, eventually.
Hex had taken Hercules to the park, so he could keep an eye on the
fourth generation, and get his 'son' out of the court building.

Hercules was not shy, but he had yet to talk to anyone in the park. He
had carefully watched how Lavender and Austin had saved her from
the playground bullies, which had impressed him.

For some reason, he felt very protective of Aphrodite. Unsure of why,
Hercules figured he would go over and hang out with them...they all
seemed nice, afterall.
“I should probably go,” Aphrodite frowned, “my Mum will wonder why
I'm so late...”

“We don't want to get you into trouble,” Lavender replied, politely,
“We'll see you at school, right? On Monday?”

“Should do,” Aphrodite didn't mention she was terrified of starting
school...Sharla was going to be in her class...

But Lavender's smile grew wider, “Looking forward to it!”
“Hey, I'm Hercules, mind if I join you guys?” He questioned. Lavender
turned round and smiled.

“Sit with us, if you want,” Lavender offered, “Aphrodite's now off, but
we're staying a bit longer.”

“Thanks,” Hercules felt relieved they had accepted him, and sat on the
ground with them.
Hex watched carefully, glancing round the wood for signs of danger.
While he hadn't suspected anything to take place today, he never liked
to be too sure.

Seeing Hercules talk with two of the Wrongway members, Hex smiled.
He thought of Hercules as his, and his little boy was making friends.

Remembering his desire to have a family of his own one day, Hex
wandered over to the benches, convinced the park was safe, and drift
into a daydream.
“Hey, sweetheart, how was the park?” Elizabeth smiled, anxious about
delivering the 'truth' to Austin.

“It was fun. Lavender told me a scary story, and we made a couple of
friends,” Austin recalled, with a small smile. Elizabeth frowned.

“Well, I hope the stories weren't too scary,” Elizabeth remarked,
prepared to go and phone her sister over the matter if she felt it was
necessary.

“No, no, it was fine,” Austin sat down on the sofa.
“I've got something to tell you, sweetie,” Elizabeth said, softly. In the
kitchen, Knut froze, listening intently.

“Oh?” Austin was puzzled. Was he going to get a brother or sister,
maybe?

“Austin, the thing is, your parents-”
“Your dad is Uncle Eli, Austin,” Knut announced, entering the living
room.

“Knut!” Elizabeth cried, an expression of hurt on her face.

“I'm not going to lie to him, Liz, it's not right,” Knut said, firmly. Both
Elizabeth and Knut turned to Austin, awaiting his reaction.
Silently, Austin got up from the sofa, and headed for the stairs, calmly
rearranging his hair as he went.

Elizabeth smiled at Knut, before she said, sarcastically, “Well, I think
that went well, don't you?”
“Why is he mad at us?” Elizabeth broke down once Austin had left the
room, “we just...I wanted...he's quiet...”

“Elizabeth, I'm sure things will be fine,” Knut replied, soothingly,
though both of them knew that things wouldn't be the same now.
Later that day, Rose's birthday party was beginning. Apparently, the
guests were more interested in smustling to the stereo than watching
her age.
Rose decided it was time for a new look, once she had grown up. She
pinned her hair up, threw on the new clothes Grace had bought for
her, and began searching the party for someone to hang out with.

But Lavender was too busy giggling with Austin, and neither Hercules
nor Aphrodite was there.
The morning after Will's birthday party was a Saturday, and so the
fourth generation headed to the park to hang out together. Naturally,
Lavender and Austin had made sure they invited Hercules and
Aphrodite.

Meanwhile, Will and Rose looked on.
“Yeah, don't worry about us, or talking to us,” Will smiled, pointing at
the four oldest members of the generation. He sighed, “I wonder if
they even know we're here...”

“Will...” Rose said, calmly, moving closer.
“They're okay, they're just close friends.” Rose smiled, cheerfully.

“They treat us like babies.” Will pointed out, bluntly. Rose shook her
head.

“Let's play! Talking is boring,” Rose thought for a moment, before
grinning, “Prince Will, a dragon is threatening the people of...uh...the
Wronglands! Yes!”

“Then there is once thing to do, Princess Rosie-Posie, and that is take
the broken mine train to the Shadow Castle...”
“Faster, Prince Will! The dragon is just behind us!” Rose exclaimed.

“But Princess Rosie-Posie-”

“Call me RP for short.”

“Princess RP, the mine train is rusted and old...we'll never make it to
the Shadow Castle in time!”

Will finally got the roundabout moving, and their game continued, the
pair of them laughing as they escaped the clutches of an evil dragon.
“So I haven't spoken to them for three days.” Austin concluded his
story, filling in his friends on the events concerning who his parents
are.

“You're not talking to them? That's silly,” Lavender replied, quietly,
“Austin, it's awful, but you can't blame them...”

“I think I might want to move in with Eli...I mean, Dad...”

Lavender's eyes widened, and Hercules turned to face Austin, all of
them worried about him.
“Think about it some more, Austin,” Lavender said, sweetly, “we're
nearly teenagers. Let it go until then...did I tell you guys my Mum's
having a baby?”

And the four friends spent the next few minutes excitedly discussing
the news.
Eventually, the older kids decided it was time to play on the
playground. Lavender wandered over to her sister, curious.
“What are you two doing?”

“Prince Will is trying to save the kingdom from the rare and deadly
dragon!” Rose replied, breathlessly. Lavender pulled a face.

“Rosie, you're on a roundabout in south Rubix...”

“Nope, I'm in a mine under the ground of the Wronglands.”

“Whatever, slow down the roundabout, please, I want to join.”
“If we climb the water tower once the mine train has stopped-” Rose
began, but found herself interrupted by Lavender.

“Seriously, Rose, we're just on a roundabout. Chill. There's no
dragon,” Lavender watched the park go past as they span round
again, “can't you two push this thing any faster?”

Rose sighed, and planned to get off next time it slowed down.
Later that evening, Rose was drawing peacefully when her older sister
burst into the room.

“Granddad put your bookshelf up, squirt,” Lavender announced, “what
are you drawing?”

“Prince Will and Princess RP fell into a crocodile pit-”

“Still on about that?” Lavender questioned, tiredly, spotting a book
abandoned on the floor.

“You don't understand.” Rose stated, sourly, and chose a different
crayon.
“Well, be careful, the kids at school are all the same. They'll notice if
you don't fit in...” Lavender winked, “What the Wronglands need are
some goblins.”

And with that, she wandered off, Rose watching her, stunned.
Sometimes Lavender dismissed her games, other times she seemed
all too happy to join in.

Either way, Rose was happy she had Lavender for a sister.
The Wrongways spent Sundays at home, chilling out. For Rose, that
meant building an imagined world with her toys on the floor of the
room she shared with Lavender.

“Follow me,” Rose said, using the voice she had chosen for the horse,
“or we will all die when the flood comes! The Wronglands have not
seen such a flood in fifty years!”
“I hope you're going to clean that up after you're done with it.”
Lavender announced, wandering into the room, searching for a book.

“Of course I will! You didn't even make your bed this morning!” Rose
cried, sweeping the horse through the air.

Lavender snorted, “An unmade bed and toys all over the floor is a bit
different, Rosie.”
Once Lavender had gone, Rose set the horse on the floor.

“I think I need to teach Lavender,” she announced to herself, “because
Lavender doesn't know how to play properly.”

Rose changed her voice to the horse voice, “People of Wrongland,
you must hear my warning!”
Downstairs, Grace was going into labour with hopefully the last child in
the main house.
And so Forrest Wrongway, the only boy in the main house so far, was
brought into the world.
Over at the Supernatural Court, Hex was miserable.

“Thought I would find you here,” Kendra smiled, before seeing his
facial expression, “what's wrong, Hex?”

“Hercules is a twin, Kendra,” Hex stated, sourly, “meaning I've failed.”

“How have you failed?” Kendra questioned, moving to sit with Hex.
“Kendra, I was supposed to get the children of Ralph out of his care,”
Hex sighed, angry at himself, “and I managed to miss one. How?”

Hex slumped moodily in his chair. Kendra shrugged, “Why did you
take Hercules in the first place?”

“Ralph is cursed,” Hex explained, quietly, trying to calm down, “it
became apparent a while ago,”
“when Ralph first left home, he was successful. He found love, in the
form of a young lady named Louise,” Hex paused thoughtfully, “I think
he still loves her, despite the fact she died naturally about a generation
ago,”
“The couple had a daughter, Skye, and I think, it was the best time of
Ralph's life. I don't know him personally, but I can make predictions,”
Hex adjusted his position in his chair, “Around this time, Jim left
home,”
“As you know, Jim was very successful during his life – his family still
thrives, we're currently protecting the fourth generation,” Hex folded
his arms, “but there is a cost for Jim's success,”
“Only one of the Wrongway brothers can succeed with their legacy
ambitions, for reasons unknown, but once Jim began to succeed, fate
began to favour him,” Hex sighed, “Ralph's wife left him, and took their
daughter,”
“Ralph was crushed, there's no other way of describing it,” Hex pulled
a face, “he knew it had connections with his brother, and returned to
Rubix, with the intent of ruining his brother's success.”

“Which continues to do, even now,” Kendra said, calmly.

“Yes. Ralph cannot succeed while Jim's family does,”
“But why are you kidnapping his children?” Kendra asked, cautiously.

“Because Ralph's life is going to crumble soon, and the children would
have been part of that,” Hex shrugged, “it's not fair on them to be
involved with the curse,”

“But...if his children go on to have children, won't that mean Jim's
descendants could have some problems?” Kendra pulled a face.

“Yeah,” Hex sighed, “which is why it's so difficult to deal with.”

“Cheer up,” Kendra suggested, earning a look from Hex.
“Kendra, Ralph's family could cause doom for Jim's family, it's
serious,” Hex stated, coldly.

“Hex, taking his children away from him doesn't prevent it, it merely
stops them from growing up with their parents,” Kendra fell silent for a
moment, “What about his other daughter, Skye?”

Hex looked at Kendra questioningly, and she continued, “does she
have a family? Because if she has children, we have a serious
problem on our hands...”
“I'll get Phillip and Blossom to help me track her down,” Hex said,
hurriedly, “increase watch on the Wrongways, Jim's family that is, for
precautionary measure, and-”

“Hex, calm down. It's three in the morning, there's nothing you can do
tonight,” Kendra smiled, “you care so much about everyone, it's
sweet.”

Hex blushed at her compliments, and stood up, intending to begin
some plans to help the family he protected.
“Hex, don't try and do some work now,” Kendra pleaded, “Try and get
some sleep, okay? I swear you work so hard you don't sleep at night
nowadays.”

“That's not the reason I don't sleep at night,” Hex responded before he
could stop himself. His gaze darted to the floor.

Kendra smiled, warmly, “Oh come here,”
“Everything's going to be okay,” Kendra murmured, “we'll sort
something out. But for tonight, just get some sleep, okay?”

“Will you be okay, wandering round the court by yourself?”

“I have to meet with my Coven leader at some point before dawn, I'll
be fine,” Kendra smiled to herself, “now go to bed, Mr Rightway!”
Meanwhile, in a desert far away from Rubix and the Wrongways...

“Skye? It's time.”
Skye looked over her shoulder, “Really, it's that time already?”

The person behind her smiled broadly, “Yeah!”

“Alright, I'll get the cake out the fridge, you go get our little princess.”
Valentine, Skye's son in law, kept on smiling. He loved living with his
wife's parents, they always had such interesting stories to tell.

“What kind of cake do you get in the end, Skye?” Valentine
questioned, heading over to where the bedrooms were.

“Just go get the guest of honour,” Skye smiled, “you like surprises,
right?”
Valentine returned with a small, fair-haired child, grinning at the
attention she was receiving from her family.

“Ready to grow into a big girl?” Valentine asked. His daughter nodded
enthusiastically.

“Robin want to be big!” She declared.
After the candles were out and Robin had grown up, the adults sat
down together in the kitchen.

Skye and her husband, Jason, discussed how Robin was the fourth
generation, while her daughter, Jade, and Valentine complimented
each other behind them.

Life was good.
Outside, Robin played in the rain.

“I wonder if you can make wishes on bubbles that float away before
they pop,” she pondered, “I wish...I wish for a faraway place, and
some friends!”

And with that, Robin closed her eyes, and chanted her wish, again and
again.
Besides, her wish might come true one day. She just had to be
hopeful.
------------------
And here is where I leave you!

Four generation of Ralph's descendants! What does this mean for the
Wrongways in Rubix? Will Hercules and Aphrodite realise the truth
any time soon? Will Lavender be able to talk Austin into staying with
Elizabeth? What's Hex going to do concerning the two successful
brothers?

Thanks for reading!

The Wrongway Legacy: 3.5

  • 1. Welcome back to the Wrongway Legacy! Last time, we saw Hex meet Grace properly, Lavender grow into a child, Rose grow into a toddler, a kidnapping take place, debates over the raising of Hercules, Hex and Kendra becoming close friends, Eli revealing his secrets to De, the appearance of many members of the generation, Austin's birthday party, at which Eli and De told Elizabeth who Austin's parents were, while Austin and Lavender became friends upstairs. If this doesn't all sound familiar, you might want to go back and read the previous chapters. Just a thought. :)
  • 2. Austin had gone to park, giving his 'parents' a chance to discuss what their next move was. “I think we should tell him the truth, Liz,” Knut was saying, “Otherwise we'll have problems later, when the truth comes out.” “Can't we tell him he's adopted?” Elizabeth questioned, enthusiastically. “Well...we could...” Knut answered, reluctantly.
  • 3. “Knut, this is important to me,” Elizabeth said, sensing his reluctance, “if we tell him he's adopted, there's no questions.” “If it makes you happy-” “It does.” “-then I suppose we can tell him he's adopted...” Knut replied, letting out a sigh. He didn't want any more lies, “but I'm going to let you tell him, Liz. I don't think I can lie to him.”
  • 4. “That's fair,” Elizabeth decided, “I'll tell him when he gets home.” Knut nodded, and wandered away to clean up the dining room, a constant worry about the truth on his brain.
  • 5. It was a beautiful morning in Rubix, and the air was filled with the excited chatter of children, who were playing on the smallest park in town. Well, most of the children were playing.
  • 6. Lavender and her cousin Austin were sat in the grass by the pond, rather than joining in with the children they didn't know. “Why did Grandpa take us to this park?” Austin asked, leaning back a little, “Why not the main park?” “Because,” Lavender replied, steadily watching the roundabout, “this one has benches for him to take a nap on while we play.” “This park doesn't even have swings!” “It could be worse,” Lavender said, cheerfully.
  • 7. “Yeah, it could be worse,” Austin agreed, after considering this for a moment, “Not sure how, but it could be.” Lavender's gaze hadn't left the roundabout, “Did you hear about Alice's new baby? We have a new cousin!” “Mum told me as I left the house this morning...what was his name again?” “Owen,” Lavender responded, glancing at Austin.
  • 8. “Apparently, he's adorable,” Lavender continued, “and looks a lot like Aunty Alice.” “My Mum said that means he'll be good-looking,” Austin said, truthfully. “I hope he grows up soon so we can meet him properly,” Lavender replied, thoughtfully, “Same with my sister. And Will.”
  • 9. “Mum also told me about Ralph last night,” Lavender shuddered, “he's scary.” “Don't you know that Ralph is just some story they tell kids to scare them?” Austin raised an eyebrow, confidently, “he's not real.” “He is, Austin, Ralph is real! He's dangerous, too...” “Sure thing. I bet you believe in the tooth fairy, too.” Austin glanced at Lavender, just in time to see her blush.
  • 10. “Ralph isn't a fairy,” Lavender eventually answered, in a small voice, “Daddy said he was the reason your Mum is a zombie.” “Whatever,” Austin smiled, “if you want to believe the scary bedtime stories, be my guest...” Lavender was about to respond, when her glance caught something happening in the park. Tapping Austin lightly, she pointed, and they both watched silently.
  • 11. “What kind of name is Aphrodite, anyway?” Sharla Ottomas demanded, cruelly, a group of kids watching her. “It's my name,” Aphrodite sniffed, “My Mummy says Aphrodite is beautiful...” “Don't you know Mums are supposed to say that kind of thing?” Gabriella Newson laughed, earning a grin from Sharla. Aphrodite covered her face, trying to hide the tears, causing the tormentors laugh harder.
  • 12. Aphrodite moved away, but Sharla followed, continuing her insults. Over by the tree, Lavender looked at Austin. “We should help her,” Lavender decided. Austin nodded, “I'll go over...wait here, Austin...” Austin had no problems with staying behind, rather than getting involved with a fight.
  • 13. Instead, Austin kept an eye on the girls as his cousin wandered over to Aphrodite. “Hi there! I'm Lavender!” Promptly, Lavender offered her hand. Cautiously, Aphrodite took it. “Aphrodite Wrongway,” “Really? My last name is Wrongway, too!”
  • 14. “Really? That's weird,” Aphrodite commented. “Lots of things are,” Lavender smiled, and pulled Aphrodite in for a hug, “Come meet my cousin, Austin! He's fun!” “Okay,” Aphrodite grinned, realising she had found some people who she might be able to call her friends, eventually.
  • 15. Hex had taken Hercules to the park, so he could keep an eye on the fourth generation, and get his 'son' out of the court building. Hercules was not shy, but he had yet to talk to anyone in the park. He had carefully watched how Lavender and Austin had saved her from the playground bullies, which had impressed him. For some reason, he felt very protective of Aphrodite. Unsure of why, Hercules figured he would go over and hang out with them...they all seemed nice, afterall.
  • 16. “I should probably go,” Aphrodite frowned, “my Mum will wonder why I'm so late...” “We don't want to get you into trouble,” Lavender replied, politely, “We'll see you at school, right? On Monday?” “Should do,” Aphrodite didn't mention she was terrified of starting school...Sharla was going to be in her class... But Lavender's smile grew wider, “Looking forward to it!”
  • 17. “Hey, I'm Hercules, mind if I join you guys?” He questioned. Lavender turned round and smiled. “Sit with us, if you want,” Lavender offered, “Aphrodite's now off, but we're staying a bit longer.” “Thanks,” Hercules felt relieved they had accepted him, and sat on the ground with them.
  • 18. Hex watched carefully, glancing round the wood for signs of danger. While he hadn't suspected anything to take place today, he never liked to be too sure. Seeing Hercules talk with two of the Wrongway members, Hex smiled. He thought of Hercules as his, and his little boy was making friends. Remembering his desire to have a family of his own one day, Hex wandered over to the benches, convinced the park was safe, and drift into a daydream.
  • 19. “Hey, sweetheart, how was the park?” Elizabeth smiled, anxious about delivering the 'truth' to Austin. “It was fun. Lavender told me a scary story, and we made a couple of friends,” Austin recalled, with a small smile. Elizabeth frowned. “Well, I hope the stories weren't too scary,” Elizabeth remarked, prepared to go and phone her sister over the matter if she felt it was necessary. “No, no, it was fine,” Austin sat down on the sofa.
  • 20. “I've got something to tell you, sweetie,” Elizabeth said, softly. In the kitchen, Knut froze, listening intently. “Oh?” Austin was puzzled. Was he going to get a brother or sister, maybe? “Austin, the thing is, your parents-”
  • 21. “Your dad is Uncle Eli, Austin,” Knut announced, entering the living room. “Knut!” Elizabeth cried, an expression of hurt on her face. “I'm not going to lie to him, Liz, it's not right,” Knut said, firmly. Both Elizabeth and Knut turned to Austin, awaiting his reaction.
  • 22. Silently, Austin got up from the sofa, and headed for the stairs, calmly rearranging his hair as he went. Elizabeth smiled at Knut, before she said, sarcastically, “Well, I think that went well, don't you?”
  • 23. “Why is he mad at us?” Elizabeth broke down once Austin had left the room, “we just...I wanted...he's quiet...” “Elizabeth, I'm sure things will be fine,” Knut replied, soothingly, though both of them knew that things wouldn't be the same now.
  • 24. Later that day, Rose's birthday party was beginning. Apparently, the guests were more interested in smustling to the stereo than watching her age.
  • 25. Rose decided it was time for a new look, once she had grown up. She pinned her hair up, threw on the new clothes Grace had bought for her, and began searching the party for someone to hang out with. But Lavender was too busy giggling with Austin, and neither Hercules nor Aphrodite was there.
  • 26. The morning after Will's birthday party was a Saturday, and so the fourth generation headed to the park to hang out together. Naturally, Lavender and Austin had made sure they invited Hercules and Aphrodite. Meanwhile, Will and Rose looked on.
  • 27. “Yeah, don't worry about us, or talking to us,” Will smiled, pointing at the four oldest members of the generation. He sighed, “I wonder if they even know we're here...” “Will...” Rose said, calmly, moving closer.
  • 28. “They're okay, they're just close friends.” Rose smiled, cheerfully. “They treat us like babies.” Will pointed out, bluntly. Rose shook her head. “Let's play! Talking is boring,” Rose thought for a moment, before grinning, “Prince Will, a dragon is threatening the people of...uh...the Wronglands! Yes!” “Then there is once thing to do, Princess Rosie-Posie, and that is take the broken mine train to the Shadow Castle...”
  • 29. “Faster, Prince Will! The dragon is just behind us!” Rose exclaimed. “But Princess Rosie-Posie-” “Call me RP for short.” “Princess RP, the mine train is rusted and old...we'll never make it to the Shadow Castle in time!” Will finally got the roundabout moving, and their game continued, the pair of them laughing as they escaped the clutches of an evil dragon.
  • 30. “So I haven't spoken to them for three days.” Austin concluded his story, filling in his friends on the events concerning who his parents are. “You're not talking to them? That's silly,” Lavender replied, quietly, “Austin, it's awful, but you can't blame them...” “I think I might want to move in with Eli...I mean, Dad...” Lavender's eyes widened, and Hercules turned to face Austin, all of them worried about him.
  • 31. “Think about it some more, Austin,” Lavender said, sweetly, “we're nearly teenagers. Let it go until then...did I tell you guys my Mum's having a baby?” And the four friends spent the next few minutes excitedly discussing the news.
  • 32. Eventually, the older kids decided it was time to play on the playground. Lavender wandered over to her sister, curious. “What are you two doing?” “Prince Will is trying to save the kingdom from the rare and deadly dragon!” Rose replied, breathlessly. Lavender pulled a face. “Rosie, you're on a roundabout in south Rubix...” “Nope, I'm in a mine under the ground of the Wronglands.” “Whatever, slow down the roundabout, please, I want to join.”
  • 33. “If we climb the water tower once the mine train has stopped-” Rose began, but found herself interrupted by Lavender. “Seriously, Rose, we're just on a roundabout. Chill. There's no dragon,” Lavender watched the park go past as they span round again, “can't you two push this thing any faster?” Rose sighed, and planned to get off next time it slowed down.
  • 34. Later that evening, Rose was drawing peacefully when her older sister burst into the room. “Granddad put your bookshelf up, squirt,” Lavender announced, “what are you drawing?” “Prince Will and Princess RP fell into a crocodile pit-” “Still on about that?” Lavender questioned, tiredly, spotting a book abandoned on the floor. “You don't understand.” Rose stated, sourly, and chose a different crayon.
  • 35. “Well, be careful, the kids at school are all the same. They'll notice if you don't fit in...” Lavender winked, “What the Wronglands need are some goblins.” And with that, she wandered off, Rose watching her, stunned. Sometimes Lavender dismissed her games, other times she seemed all too happy to join in. Either way, Rose was happy she had Lavender for a sister.
  • 36. The Wrongways spent Sundays at home, chilling out. For Rose, that meant building an imagined world with her toys on the floor of the room she shared with Lavender. “Follow me,” Rose said, using the voice she had chosen for the horse, “or we will all die when the flood comes! The Wronglands have not seen such a flood in fifty years!”
  • 37. “I hope you're going to clean that up after you're done with it.” Lavender announced, wandering into the room, searching for a book. “Of course I will! You didn't even make your bed this morning!” Rose cried, sweeping the horse through the air. Lavender snorted, “An unmade bed and toys all over the floor is a bit different, Rosie.”
  • 38. Once Lavender had gone, Rose set the horse on the floor. “I think I need to teach Lavender,” she announced to herself, “because Lavender doesn't know how to play properly.” Rose changed her voice to the horse voice, “People of Wrongland, you must hear my warning!”
  • 39. Downstairs, Grace was going into labour with hopefully the last child in the main house.
  • 40. And so Forrest Wrongway, the only boy in the main house so far, was brought into the world.
  • 41. Over at the Supernatural Court, Hex was miserable. “Thought I would find you here,” Kendra smiled, before seeing his facial expression, “what's wrong, Hex?” “Hercules is a twin, Kendra,” Hex stated, sourly, “meaning I've failed.” “How have you failed?” Kendra questioned, moving to sit with Hex.
  • 42. “Kendra, I was supposed to get the children of Ralph out of his care,” Hex sighed, angry at himself, “and I managed to miss one. How?” Hex slumped moodily in his chair. Kendra shrugged, “Why did you take Hercules in the first place?” “Ralph is cursed,” Hex explained, quietly, trying to calm down, “it became apparent a while ago,”
  • 43. “when Ralph first left home, he was successful. He found love, in the form of a young lady named Louise,” Hex paused thoughtfully, “I think he still loves her, despite the fact she died naturally about a generation ago,”
  • 44. “The couple had a daughter, Skye, and I think, it was the best time of Ralph's life. I don't know him personally, but I can make predictions,” Hex adjusted his position in his chair, “Around this time, Jim left home,”
  • 45. “As you know, Jim was very successful during his life – his family still thrives, we're currently protecting the fourth generation,” Hex folded his arms, “but there is a cost for Jim's success,”
  • 46. “Only one of the Wrongway brothers can succeed with their legacy ambitions, for reasons unknown, but once Jim began to succeed, fate began to favour him,” Hex sighed, “Ralph's wife left him, and took their daughter,”
  • 47. “Ralph was crushed, there's no other way of describing it,” Hex pulled a face, “he knew it had connections with his brother, and returned to Rubix, with the intent of ruining his brother's success.” “Which continues to do, even now,” Kendra said, calmly. “Yes. Ralph cannot succeed while Jim's family does,”
  • 48. “But why are you kidnapping his children?” Kendra asked, cautiously. “Because Ralph's life is going to crumble soon, and the children would have been part of that,” Hex shrugged, “it's not fair on them to be involved with the curse,” “But...if his children go on to have children, won't that mean Jim's descendants could have some problems?” Kendra pulled a face. “Yeah,” Hex sighed, “which is why it's so difficult to deal with.” “Cheer up,” Kendra suggested, earning a look from Hex.
  • 49. “Kendra, Ralph's family could cause doom for Jim's family, it's serious,” Hex stated, coldly. “Hex, taking his children away from him doesn't prevent it, it merely stops them from growing up with their parents,” Kendra fell silent for a moment, “What about his other daughter, Skye?” Hex looked at Kendra questioningly, and she continued, “does she have a family? Because if she has children, we have a serious problem on our hands...”
  • 50. “I'll get Phillip and Blossom to help me track her down,” Hex said, hurriedly, “increase watch on the Wrongways, Jim's family that is, for precautionary measure, and-” “Hex, calm down. It's three in the morning, there's nothing you can do tonight,” Kendra smiled, “you care so much about everyone, it's sweet.” Hex blushed at her compliments, and stood up, intending to begin some plans to help the family he protected.
  • 51. “Hex, don't try and do some work now,” Kendra pleaded, “Try and get some sleep, okay? I swear you work so hard you don't sleep at night nowadays.” “That's not the reason I don't sleep at night,” Hex responded before he could stop himself. His gaze darted to the floor. Kendra smiled, warmly, “Oh come here,”
  • 52. “Everything's going to be okay,” Kendra murmured, “we'll sort something out. But for tonight, just get some sleep, okay?” “Will you be okay, wandering round the court by yourself?” “I have to meet with my Coven leader at some point before dawn, I'll be fine,” Kendra smiled to herself, “now go to bed, Mr Rightway!”
  • 53. Meanwhile, in a desert far away from Rubix and the Wrongways... “Skye? It's time.”
  • 54. Skye looked over her shoulder, “Really, it's that time already?” The person behind her smiled broadly, “Yeah!” “Alright, I'll get the cake out the fridge, you go get our little princess.”
  • 55. Valentine, Skye's son in law, kept on smiling. He loved living with his wife's parents, they always had such interesting stories to tell. “What kind of cake do you get in the end, Skye?” Valentine questioned, heading over to where the bedrooms were. “Just go get the guest of honour,” Skye smiled, “you like surprises, right?”
  • 56. Valentine returned with a small, fair-haired child, grinning at the attention she was receiving from her family. “Ready to grow into a big girl?” Valentine asked. His daughter nodded enthusiastically. “Robin want to be big!” She declared.
  • 57. After the candles were out and Robin had grown up, the adults sat down together in the kitchen. Skye and her husband, Jason, discussed how Robin was the fourth generation, while her daughter, Jade, and Valentine complimented each other behind them. Life was good.
  • 58. Outside, Robin played in the rain. “I wonder if you can make wishes on bubbles that float away before they pop,” she pondered, “I wish...I wish for a faraway place, and some friends!” And with that, Robin closed her eyes, and chanted her wish, again and again.
  • 59. Besides, her wish might come true one day. She just had to be hopeful. ------------------ And here is where I leave you! Four generation of Ralph's descendants! What does this mean for the Wrongways in Rubix? Will Hercules and Aphrodite realise the truth any time soon? Will Lavender be able to talk Austin into staying with Elizabeth? What's Hex going to do concerning the two successful brothers? Thanks for reading!
