The World Is Flat Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic "The World Is Flat" can be a challenging endeavor, demanding a
comprehensive understanding of various disciplines such as economics, geopolitics, technology,
and sociology. The phrase "The World Is Flat" itself, popularized by Thomas L. Friedman's book,
implies the interconnectedness of the globalized world. To address this topic effectively, one
must delve into the complexities of globalization, technological advancements, cultural
implications, and the impact on various sectors.
The difficulty lies in presenting a nuanced perspective that not only acknowledges the benefits of
a flattened world but also considers its drawbacks. It requires in-depth research to grasp the
historical context, analyze current trends, and anticipate future developments. The
interdisciplinary nature of the subject demands a well-rounded approach, blending data-driven
analysis with critical thinking.
Moreover, articulating thoughts coherently and persuasively is essential. The challenge is not
merely to regurgitate information but to synthesize it into a compelling narrative that engages
readers. The essay should strike a balance between providing factual information and offering
insightful interpretations, inviting readers to ponder the implications of a flattened world.
Additionally, as opinions on globalization can vary widely, presenting a well-argued thesis that
considers opposing viewpoints is crucial. It requires a delicate handling of contrasting
perspectives to build a robust argument that stands up to scrutiny.
In conclusion, tackling a "The World Is Flat" essay demands dedication, thorough research,
critical thinking, and effective communication skills. It is a task that requires a holistic
understanding of the topic and the ability to navigate through its intricacies. Similar essays or
assistance with this topic and others can be sought through various avenues, such as online

What is not acceptable is for the customer to be demanding, insulting and irate. The
real issue is lack of respect people today.
This study has an important contribution to the understanding that there are
Dysfunctional Customers , and that their behaviours equate serious consequences,
and in the new era the number of them is increasing. Those customers always wish
payless or to not pay, those who doesn t obey rules of the company, use to abuse
employees verbally or even physically, customers who gets in detailed arguments
with other employees about company and they are customers who always makes
hurdle for company and so on and so forth, and we might encounter some of them
that will scream at you or some will just be okay. Some of them will down your

they know that the management does not want to lose them. Customers are used to

customer knows when they are wrong or right but they will still try to get

Simpson s Bambaata A Review Of Hip-Hop
1983: Afrika Bambaataa spins the wheels of steel, his vintage scratching skills and
guru like vibe turning Chic s Good Times into a mass call and response. As fists
pump the air and a smile appears on every face, a sweaty Liverpool rock venue is
transformed into a euphoric New York block party. (Simpson). A scene from his
1982 global tour, where Bambaataa brought the principals of his Universal Zulu
Nation abroad, Simpson exclaims on how Bambaataa, former gang warlord,
founder of the black nationalist Universal Zulu Nation, and Master of the Records
got thousands of oppressed people from all different parts of the worlds, to pump
their fists to a synchronized beat, soon to be distilled in one message: peace, love,
unity, and having fun. Simpson describes, in his review for The Guardian newspaper,
Bambaataa as the hand that guided... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Simpson s review emphasizes Bambaataa s ability to bring people together, to get
everyone s fists pumping , placing a smile ... on every face , alluding to the
transcendence of racial differences through the intersection of music movements hip
hop and rock, the merging of peoples in the 1980s. In the 1970s, hip hop was as a
voice for marginalized African American and Puerto Rican youth. This movement
was a generational revolt against the status quo, and in the midst of it becoming
global, it became commercial, about making money. Rather than valuing the music s
effects on the people, as the review of Bambaataa did, TOURE shows how the 1980s
1990s music industry had begun to commercialize it, stripping it of its focus on the
backbeat and transforming it into something else. Rather than reflecting the voices
and needs of youth at the time, it became something unachievable above the people,
effectively diluting its political
Intersectionality In Patricia Hill Collins It s All In The...
Intersectionality and the Birth of Black Feminism In It s All In the Family, Patricia
Hill Collins compares the importance of family to the concept of intersectionality,
which was built upon the black feminist movement. Collins references the Combahee
River Collective s Black Feminist Statement in the second footnote as a place where
the reader can learn more about Black Women s Studies and their thoughts on
intersectionality. The Combahee River Collective is a group of black feminists and
lesbians that have been meeting since 1974. They specifically write to the two
political movements in which they should be included: the white feminist and black
male communities. Through an analysis of the birth of contemporary black feminism
and the unique issues that black women face, the Combahee River Collective hopes
to educate others about intersectionality and what it means to be fully inclusive in
political movements. The statement begins by explaining that women of color face
unparalleled political struggles due to a combination of their racial and sexual
identities. Though... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, white feminists only have to focus on sexism and can better raise
their issues to the public; while the white women s movement is gaining national
attention, the black feminist movement is stigmatized and scrutinized. In order to be
liberated, the Collective believes that the black feminist movement must disrupt the
entire patriarchal and political economic systems of capitalism, which, in turn, would
free many other minority populations (Combahee 1982). Through this statement, the
Collective emphasizes that their liberation would be benefitting to

#1 eBay Selling
The first way to make more money online is to sell items on the site eBay. eBay is
an online auction and shopping website that allows you to sell your own household
items online for a profit or buy a product from the site and then resell it for a greater
profit. It is probably the biggest and most popular of this type of websites throughout
the entire Internet. A good aspect of this money making plan is that it is easy to sell
products on the site.
There are some cons associated with this way of earning though. Such as the fees
correlated with the selling a product, there is more than one. Another issue is that it
is not easy and a lot of work for sometimes less than satisfactory outcome. Along with
all this it can be quite difficult to determine the right niche for your products in order
to beat the heavy competition involved with whatever it might be. All that said, there
is money to be made.

Teacher Relationship And Instruction
Interpretation of Results The results from the survey revealed new insightful
information from students in regard to the perceptions of the transition from middle
school to high school. The survey was composed of five distinct areas that were
overarching and broad. The goal was to use questions to discover the concerns and
issues that eighth grade students might have. The categories were: social interaction,
teacher relationships and instruction, academia, environmental factors and student
safety. Each category brought interesting and new information. The study found that
the area of teacher relationship and instruction was the highest area of concern as
perceived by students in the study. The area of academia was another area of high
concern for students. The study found the area of safety as the area of lowest
concern by students in the study. The areas of environmental factors and social
relationships while found to be areas of high concern scored well above the area of
safety, but well below the area teacher relationships and instruction and academia.
Teacher Relationship and Interaction The area of teacher relationship and interaction
was an expected area of concern from prior reading and research. From the results,
students placed it as the highest area of concern. This area was defined as the
establishment of a warm caring environment that is conducive to meaningful learning
coupled with teaching strategies that are motivational and expectations that are in

Animal Species Research Paper
The advancement of human civilization and technology is a wonder and has been
compounding at an exponential rate. We have been able to convert raw materials
from the Earth to make our lives better with cars, computers, houses, etc. However the
more our civilization evolves and humans occupy the Earth, the more animal species
have been disappearing. The way we live affects animal species more than one may
think. We affect them when we do things that change the climate, irresponsibly
dispose of waste, and steal their habitats and homes. The Earthhas already lost half of
its wildlife in the last one hundred years and there is much more predicted to be lost
in just the next 10 years. There is much to more to lose when these species goes

On the other hand, we have Indirect attention where our fascination causes us to
concentrate without as much effort, which allows for our brain to be restored so
we can come back to that direct attention (Curtin 2009). This theory could be
related to the reason why when people are trying to get away from the stresses of
daily life, travel to different places where wildlife is and are willing to spend so
much time and money just to do so. Ecotourism is a good solution to fulfill our desire
to be with nature and animals, it also helps support conservational efforts by allowing
humans to learn more about the animals and funding the costs that come with
conservation. In a study conducted by Curtin, it was revealed that psychological
benefits can arise from wildlife tourism. Analyses of the interviews conducted in
Curtin s study found out what psychological benefits can come from watching
wildlife and the answers they got were wonderment and awe beyond articulation, time

Stephen King s Autopsy Room Four
Stephen Edwin King was born on September 21, 1947, in Portland, Maine. King is
one of the most successful horror writers of all time. His parents split up when he
was very young, and he and his brother divided their time between Indiana and
Connecticut for several years. King later moved back with his mother and brother.
Then he graduated from Lisbon Falls High School.
King then attended the University of Maine. He wrote for the school s newspaper.
King also published his first writing while in college. After graduating, he tried to
find a position as a teacher, but he had no luck. King still continued to write stories in
his free time until he later started working as an English teacher.
King later married and had three children: Naomi, Joseph, and Owen. King uses
many of his past experiences in his stories, such as in Pet Sematary when his own
cat died and he had to bury it in an animal graveyard. Stephen King also uses very
realistic imagery in his stories. He also tends to include a lot of brand names that can
sometimes be too much, although it does provide the realism. ... Show more content

He shows this evil in every one of his stories in many different ways. It varies from
corruption, superstition, human flaws, or other flat out creepy ways. In Autopsy
Room Four , a man is mistaken to be dead and is brought to the autopsy room to
begin operations. Throughout the whole story, King keeps you on edge and
guessing on the man s fate. The stupidity of the doctors almost ends up killing him.
He survives the ordeal. Another major theme is misery. King likes to put his
characters in deep emotional stress or confusion. That s what all of the stories I

All That You Love Will Be Carried Away , and In the Deathroom . They all gave me

Sandra Cisneros and Hughes Analysis
Discrimination has and always will be controversial, whether it is because of sex or
color of skin it will always be around. Writer inspiration seems to come from firsthand
accounts and experiences, at least that is the case with Sandra Cisneros, a Chicana
writer, and Langston Hughes, and African American poet. When reading their stories
the reader can identify how different life experiences have influenced and inspired
them to write the way they do. Analyzing Sandra Cisneros and Langston Hughes, and
pieces of their writing will demonstrate how similar their writing is, how minority
discrimination, and cultural circumstances effect and shape different pieces of their
respective writings. This paper will highlight similarities, differences... Show more

Whereas for Hughes, he strived to connect and unite enslaved, black people. The
similarities in both authors are the cultural obstacles they had to surpass to be the
successful writers they became. A deeper examination of Cisneros famous short
story, Woman Hollering Creek will highlight the liberation of those barriers. In
this particular short story Cisneros speaks about the main character, Cleofilas, and
her struggle with her abusive husband, Juan Pedro. Cleofilas had to live in a
society where the women were simply there to assist their husbands, and God
forbid she second guessed him. Living and struggling with the everyday battle of
stereotypes, she decided to leave her husband at the end of this short story. This all
developed the strong independent female role Cleofilas took on by the end of the
story. The main character was forced to believe by her family and her husband that
she wasn t worth anything without a man; this made her doubtful of her abilities and
her human capital. In the interview by Martha Satz, Cisneros says, I think many of
my stories come from dealing with straddling two cultures, and certainly it s
something I m going to deal with in future stories (Cisneros 30). Here, Cisneros
agrees that her stories have to do with the endless topic about coming from two
cultures and the stereotypes it brings along. From firsthand accounts the Mexican
American culture is embraced by machismo , or that male superiority. Woman

The Reason Behind Discovery
The Reason behind Discovery Once I found this painting my initial reaction was
that I wanted to be able to see his face and was extremely bothered by the apple in
the front. As I continued to look at the photo I soon realized that I could actually
see both of his eyes to the slightest extent. After noticing this I was somewhat
relieved that I could at lease see a small amount. The piece of the painting that
drew most of my attention simply because I felt that it was completely out of
place. Therefore by it being there I was both confused and upset at the same time.
At this point I had not reading the meaning behind why the author had decided to
place it there and therefore was confused and began to think that I was possibly
looking at a modified painting of some kind. The man can be seen as a problem
and the apple can be seen as a distraction from the problem. There are several
techniques that were utilized the artists in order to cause the viewer to react in
specific ways. One of these is by making the painting completely balanced by placing
the man and the apple in the direct center of the painting. Not only did the artist place
the object in the center but he also made the rest of the objects in the painting
significantly lighter. By doing this it causes the viewer to put more focus onto the
man and the apple. In terms of dominance, the artist made it so the man is the largest
object inside of the photo and therefore most of the attention goes towards him. The
Analysis Of El Buen Pastor By Luis Jimenez
Luis Jimenez s piece titled El Buen Pastor (The Good Shepherd) from the Winthrop
Rockefeller Gallery represents the react against the seminal post war American
movement. The works of art were chosen by a Contemporary and Modern collection
created during the past century. The commonality amongst the works of artthat lead
to them being displayed together was the abstract expressionism; all the paintings
reacted against the seminal post war American movement. This piece was made in
1998 as a depiction of the murder of Esequiel of Redford, Texas while he tended
his goats. The piece s present location is the Arkansas Arts Center, and its original
location is the Lawrence Lithography Workshop in Saint Louis, Missouri. The
piece is water color and crayon on paper, and it can only be seen from one side by
looking up because it is hanging on the wall. The subject of the work of art by
JimГ©nez is a young mantending his goats who was shot by assassins because they
thought he was a drug smuggler. This work of art was made in 1998 in Saint
Louis, Missouri for Esequiel Hernandez. This painting was not a copy, it was
originally made. The art was made after similar works. The technique used was
lithograph (water color) and crayon on paper. The painting was a pretty nice size,

Training Pyramid Effects Of A Horse s Adaptability
A horse s adjustability is the result of a horses, strength, relaxation (both mental and
physical), and ability to maintain contact. The horse should be able to shorten the
stride while still actively stepping under/ tracking up and pushing from the hindend
into the bridle. On the opposite end of the spectrum a horseshould be able to extend or
lengthen the stride without their balance shifting onto their forehand creating a
running and unbalanced gait. Each rung of the training pyramid effects the horse s
adjustability in a different way. Overall, If the horse has no steady rhythm to his gait
there is no way for him to truly be connected or have impulsion therefore his gait,
especially stride length can not be adjusted.

History Of Jack The Ripper
Who is Jack the Ripper?
From August 1888 to November of the same year, the Whitechapel area of London
was under attack by an unknown assailant. He terrorized the district, as well as
surrounding areas, by killing and mutilating prostitutes all within a mile of each other
(Biography.com Editors, 2015). During that time, violence towards prostitutes was
not unusual, but the way the bodies were attacked and dismembered lead officials to
believe the killings were acted out by a single offender (Biography.com Editors,

outdistance any other horse breed in a quarter mile race or less (PetMD). They have

world. Located in Fort Worth, Texas, the AQHA (American Quarter Horse

at high speeds and be athletic. Quarter horse athleticism allows them to be superior
to all other horse breeds. Their body shape allows them to be quick on their feet

Tartuffe, a Comedy by Molier
Tartuffe is one of the most famous comedies written by the French playwright
MoliГЁre. The play tells the story of a wealthy Frenchman named Orgon who takes
in Tartuffe, a man who presents himself to be religious and passionate but actually
turns out to be a hypocrite. Despite his family s warnings, Orgon completely turns
his back on his family in order to protect Tartuffe, who betrays him. During that time
the play was first written and performed, many people, along with King Louis XIV
himself, enjoyed the play. However, to others it was seen as being critical of religion
and the church, which then lead to it being banned. In a political sense, Tartuffe
serves as both an endorsement and critique of the ideas of absolutism, divine right,...

In those times, religion was hard to separate from politics and other aspects.
Tartuffe was able to fool people by claiming to be a devout man of God. If this were
to happen with the King s advisors, it could cause corruption throughout many parts
of the kingdom. MoliГЁre does believe that the King should seek advice from others,
but he warns that he should listen to many opinions and think carefully before
making a final decision.
The divine right theory claims that the monarchs are specially selected by God to
rule the kingdom. Consequently, the King is responsible for his own actions and
decisions. However, God is the only one who can make judgments. So even if the
King rules unfairly, that does not permit the citizens to rebel against his rule.
Rather, it is up to God to handle it. In Tartuffe, MoliГЁre seems to praise the King
for his fairness and mercy by pardoning Orgon in the end. Due to his previous
loyalty to the throne, he returned Orgon s property to him and forgave him for
hiding the papers. The wise King also saw through Tartuffe s deception and
hypocrisy and had him arrested. These events in the story definitely show MoliГЁre s
support for King Louis XIV, as he knew that abolitionism and divine right were honest
intentions to rule the kingdom fairly.
Also during this time period, an emphasis was placed on patriarchal family. God has
ultimate authority over all, as He is the true
Oats In Canada
This article discusses the price movement of oats in Canada due to a shortage in
supply. Two major concepts present in the article is the law of supply and law of
demand. The law of supply states that there s a positive relationship between the
price and quantity supplied of a good ceteris paribus; as price increases, quantity
supplied increases. The law of demand, states that there s a negative relationship

The change in supply results from a nonprice determinant; the rain and snow.
Because of this, the oat harvest has been delayed and farmers are unable to harvest
as much as they were capable of in previous years. Because oats are a primary
commodity; a product produced in the primary sector, they have a fairly inelastic
demand because they are a necessity without many substitutes. The change in
prices will cause a drop in profits for farmers and producers. The poor weather
conditions also affects the quality of the oats as a result, more oats end up as food
for the livestock instead of being sent to producers who manufacture oat products.
The supply curve shifts leftwards and leads to an increase in price from P1 to P2 and
a decrease in quantity supplied from Q1 to Q2.
Figure B: Supply and Demand for Producers of Oat Products Figure B shows a
leftward shift in the supply curve from S1 to S2 for producers who require oats for
production. Due to the non price determinant that caused farmers to acquire less
supply, this in turn results in a smaller supply for the producers. Furthermore, a
smaller supply means the prices of oats will rise and the producers will require
more money for production. This results in an increase in price from P1 to P2 and a
decrease in quantity supplied from Q1 to Q2.

Essay on Importance of Symbols in “the Thing in the
Forest”
Brandon Doder 11/1/11 Importance of Symbols in The Thing in the Forest In
many fairytales, we are given characters who set out on an adventure to better
themselves whether they know that they are on one or not. In A.S. Byatt s The
Thing in the Forest we are taken on such an adventure, but this is more than just a
children s fairytale. Through figurative language we are shown that the main
characters, Penny and Primrose, are dealing with more than just a creature in the
forest, and that with this use of symbols as a way to express a larger meaning to
objects in the story, we better understand how Penny and Primrose are dealing with
being away from their family during a time of war in England. In this story we are

With the use of symbols, Byatt can make reference to problems with the girls or
make a comment on the larger picture of war at the time. The three largest symbols
that appear in the story are the mansion, the forest, and of course, the thing in the
forest. Each symbol represents something bigger in the whole scheme of things.
The mansion that the girls are first sent to is a cold and dreary place to the
children. Byatt describes the mansion as cold and dark. This is because of war
time in England and they are tying to not be obvious. This dreariness only helps
the symbol of the mansion to represent what is going on at that time. The house is
a representation of the State. That being the government and everything that is part
of the security it provides. There is a sense of security in a way that the mansion is
used. The government commandeered the mansion for use as a safe house,
although there still is a feeling of doubt about it. To the girls and other children, the
mansion is a place of security or home until they move on. This is most likely not
what the girls had in mind when they arrived. For them to feel any sort of comfort in
this time of tragedy, they will need to stick together and make the best of the
situation. The girls seemed to be thinking the worst of every event but at the
mansion, things were taken care of to the best of the ability of the adults there to care
for them. Unlike the
Jacob Riis How The Other Half Lives
Demetrios Zioulis Book Report 11 4 15 When it was published in 1890, the novel
How the Other Half Lives by Jacob Riis astonished the middle and upper class
Americans. Riis revealed to the world the horrific living conditions of New York
City s tenement housing. He did this by the use of graphic photographs (that he
himself took) and detailed written descriptions which are all first hand accounts, as
he was a witness to whatever he wrote. After reading the novel one might question
how are the poor subjected to such harsh living conditions and also how the
environment affects them. Riis reveals the hardships each ethnic group faces as he
investigates each tenement to draw out some kind of solution. In doing so, many of
his fears and prejudices are revealed as well. The main focus of Riis... Show more

Their dark and filthy habits were a direct representation of the tenements in which
they lived in. The main social spot for the tenants was the saloon, fortunately for
them saloons were located on the first floor of most tenements. The toilet room
was usually used by multiple different families and was highly unkempt. Hygiene
was almost inexistent. Riis addresses that the poor development of personalities
and behaviors is highly attributed to the poor environment. An individual s future
was shaped ultimately by environmental factors. (pg. 6) The so called American
myth of going from rags to riches was nearly impossible to achieve living in these
slums. How can someone rise up in the social structure when at the time it was
considered a miracle to live pass the age of five? The city s overall death rate was
26.47, however the death rate for children under the age of five living in tenements

Dressing Modesty
One of my core beliefs that has shaped who I am today has resulted from dressing
modestly. Dressing modestly is important to me because so often in this present
age, one s body is displayed as a mere object. Not only is modesty, chastity, and
purity important in one s spiritual life, it is also crucial to society. One might ask
why it is so imperative that modestybe discussed. Well, one constantly hears reports
of rape, molesting, and how high the rate of pornography viewers is. Thus, how is
one to destroy these horrible acts except by how one dresses. I am not saying that
dressing modestly will completely obliterate sexual assault, but it will certainly cut
down on how often it occurs.
I have always dressed modestly ever since I was a young child, but it was not until
I was fourteen years of age that I decided that I would begin to wear skirts rather
than pants and shorts. What influenced this was when I began to perceive the rate
of women and young girls being raped. I felt that as a young lady, it was my duty
not to tempt young men to look at me as something other than a young lady with
thoughts and opinions of my own; I did not want to be a distraction, but rather a
helper and friend. As I grew older I began to realize how it was not only beneficial
to others, but also to myself. I noticed that my self worth began to rise as well as
how I judged myself. Furthermore, I began to distinguish that I was beginning to be
my own person. How did I experience this? Well, I was
Importance of Early Childhood Education Essay
Importance of Early Childhood Education
Early childhood education is for children from the ages three to eight years old. In
this field there are four learning goals that early programs have for a young child.
The four learning goals are: knowledge (consists of facts, concepts, ideas, and
vocabulary), skills ( small units of action that occur in short period of time),
disposition ( respond to certain situations), and feelings ( emotional states) ( Katz
2003). With an successful care giving and early education, it can bring an positive
outcome to a child s life. What a child learns in their early years are things that will
continue to helps them along in their future in school and in the real world. When a

Not only does early education bring the benefit of interaction, it also lets the child
feel loved and have trust in others. If a child is encountered with early programs then
they are able to meet the needs of their child stage life. If these needs are not properly
met, then they may become less successful in their performance in an educational
environment.
Learning Opportunities
There are many types of learning opportunities that can encourage a child to learn
and help to enhance their abilities. Child care centers are a great way to encourage
a child to learn, and to be ready for the school atmosphere. The Big Top Child Care
Center in Laurel, Maryland have an excellent program for children between two to
nine years of age. They have an environment where teachers are well trained and are
first aid and CPR certified. They enhance a child s learning by providing them with
nutrition, educational field trips, and special events. Elementary schools are the
opening door for early childhood education. Children can begin their learning
experience in pre kindergarten and kindergarten which are the first grades of
elementary education. Ring Factory Elementary located at Harford county in
Maryland is a school that has three kindergarten classes that teach five to six year
olds the beginning of their educational life. Not only are there child care centers and
schools a great
Essay On Legalizing Marijuana Legalization
Marijuana is important to American culture and has become more popular that it
has even been in American history. The same reason people say it should be
illegal are the best arguments for its legalization. The crime, health, and business
aspects are the strongest cases for legalization and is the reason why popularity
has grown. Today more and more people are positive towards marijuana
legalization in America. A recent study found that 64% of Americans approve of
legalization. (Ingraham, The Washington Post, WP Company, 25 Oct. 2017). The
medicinal benefits of marijuana are one of the main reasons for need for
legalization. Some states in America have already legalized the use of marijuana
for medical use as well as other countries like Canada have already allowed medical
marijuana use in 2001. If these states and even foreign countries find medical
marijuana safe, then why not the US. Marijuana as a medicine can relieve pain for

Taking a Look at Team Connor s Organization
FINANCIAL SUMMARY
As per our analysis of TeamConnor s financials we explored that the organization has
been having difficulty in maintaining a positive net income throughout the past three
years. According to TeamConnors financials, we observe that there is a misfit
between their goals, stated in TeamConnors Goals for the Future, and their financial
capabilities. With the net negative income over the past three years, TeamConnor has
lacked in updating their goals to match with their current financial standards.
According to our projections, continuing at this pace with income decreasing and
expenses rising, we believe TeamConnor will be nearly $850 thousand in the
negative. The goals of awarding more grants with an annual increase of 46% through
the upcoming years will not be attainable with the current trend of income in the
organization. With constantly growing expense like salary, professional service
expenses, and event costs, summing up to nearly roughly 45% of total expenditures
at an estimated growth rate of 30%, expenses continues to exceed the revenues each
year. With a negative outlook in the coming years with unrealistic goals, the change
of strategic orientation is obvious and urgent.
PROPOSALS
As we carefully analyzed the current strategic orientation of TeamConnor organization
we came across some key issues that need to be addressed. According to the
information provided, we believe that currently the organization is having issues with

New South Wales Public Education System
In 1866 New South Wales enacted the Public Schools Act that aimed to address
government spending on education, resulting in government schools receiving
priority over denominational schools, and providing access to education for the
growing number of communities across the colony . The Catholics opposed this
move as it was hostile to the their belief in their own system of educationand Catholic
puritans helped fuel the fire of sectarianism, which continued to make state aid for
church run schools a highly controversial issue . However, times were changing as
by the 1870s, in New South Wales, up to sixty per cent of Catholic schoolchildren
attended state schools . Conflict escalated again in 1879 when the new Catholic
Archbishop, Vaughan, denounced the state schools of New South Wales describing
them as seed plots of future immorality, infidelity and lawlessness and accused them
of squeezing very gradually and almost imperceptibly the Catholic faith out of
Catholic people. In response the Parkes government enacted the Public Instruction
Act of 1880, which resulted in primary education becoming nominally compulsory,
cheap, widespread, and removed all state aid to denominational schools . Again the
Catholics responded negatively to the decision, which aided in preserving the
Catholic identity, although this came at the cost of making themselves a distinctive
sub culture in the Australian community . Despite this, Henry Parkes, premier of
New South Wales, gave a speech in 1885, and instead of condemning the Catholics
for being different,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the Automobile industry will also be investigated.
In the late 1960 s there was strong competition from VW and several Japanese
companies in the small car market. Due to this competition Ford hurried the design
of their small car, the Pinto, to market. Since the car was rushed into market and the
specifications for the car were that it weigh under 2000 pounds and cost less than

that this information did not just stay in the pages of Mother Jones, Dowie called a

The Myths behind King Arthur
King Arthur In this paper will be discussed the myths behind King Arthur. King
Arthur was a British legend and over time the stories became a collection of stories
written by different authors. King Arthur was actually a general in the fifth century
that fought to keep Brittan a free paradise of the western hemisphere. With the
different writers over the years writing about the great King Arthurthe stories got
distorted and became more of myth than that of truth of the real King Arthur. The
first writings of King Arthur were around 830 by an author by the name of Nennius,
according to the Britons. There are many writings in existence today, as many as 200
over King Arthur. Much of the myths of King Arthur and the legends of Merlin and
Guinevere are what people read today. Much of these are myths and not actual facts,
though all started out with the actual life facts of King Arthur from his birth in
Tintagel to his death, they just got bent out of shape with the different writers over
the years. King Arthur was actually Lucius Artorius Castus, Arthur s name was
originally Artorius, a family name. This is where King Arthur became more of a
myth than a real person. The myths became more widespread when the marriage of
Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine in France. This is where the more romantic and
spiritual myths began about King Arthur. In this time the author Chretien de Troyes
of the French court wrote about the Holy Grail. This is one of the first of
Geological History and Hazards in San Diego
Geological history and hazards in San Diego The formation of San Diego region
involved numerous activities which varied from volcano activities, the formation of
Gulf, uplifting and tilting among others. These activities happened in a long span of
time creating three distinct geomorphic regions: the west of peninsular rangers,
peninsular ranges region, and the Salton Trough region. The geomorphic division
reflects the basic difference amid geographic parts containing Mesozoic metavolcanic,
metasedimentary, and plutonic rock material. The development of these features
resulted to the occurrence of the current San Diego state. The integration of different
rocks, volcanic activities, and subduction processes resulted to the development of
peninsular region and Salton Trough. Cenozoic sedimentary rocks predominated to
the west and east of the central mountain while plutonic rocks predominated in the
peninsular ranges. The irregular contact between these geologic regions reflects the
ancient topography of the area. The ancient oceanic crustal plate created an
archipelago of a volcanic island. The former s subduction created immense volumes
of magma. This resulted to the congealation of plutonic rock in the crust. The local
rocks that existed before the tectonic forces uplifted, and erosion capped the deeply
buried plutonic rocks that formed a steep and rugged mountains coastline, similar to
that present one, which in the west coast of south America. In San Diego region,
The Pros And Cons Of Rhythm And Blues Music
In discussions of rhythm blues, one controversial issue has been whether song
covers of authentic rhythm blues were an ethical or unethical practice. On the one
hand, many will argue that these covers helped to distribute and promote the
rhythm blues musical movement, extending it to a much bigger audience. On the
other hand, others will say that the covers were just another way for large record
labels and big name artists to make money off the exploitation of the original
artists. My own view is that the use of these covers is a part of the musical process,
but this does not necessarily make it an ethical practice. The act of an artist taking a
song and seemingly putting their own little twist on it to make it seem like a new work

Sampling is when a new song will take a sample from an already established song
in order to add a different element to the new song and/or make it more enjoyable to
the listener, particularly in the hip hop world. This especially happens when an
artist drops a mixtape, or a collection of songs that is not distributed for the purpose
of making music. There are some A list artists whose mixtapes would consist
entirely of sampled or remixed songs, Lil Wayne being the first one to come to
mind. In a sense, a remix is the sampling of a song s entire beat and production with
new lyrics being performed over them. During my free write I actually had a lot to
say about this specific topic regarding authenticity in the new age music, especially
in terms of remixes. My big question was, are remixes any more authentic than a
cover? I would say that they might be slightly more authentic than covers only
because a remix opens the possibility of the remix artist using the same production
to paint a completely different story than what the original artist did. This gives the
remix artist some new, quotable lyrics that can be directly tied with that artist
regardless of the beat playing under it. The best thing about remixes is that the
remix artist does not profit off of this, or if they do it is only when they get
permission from the original artist to do so with some sort of payment being given to
Violence Against Matthew Shepard Analysis
Many seem to see the violence against Matthew Shepard as a hate crime, which I
agree with. Everything pointed to, from testimonies to evidence, shows that he was
attacked due to his sexual orientation; however, the perpetrators, Aaron McKinney
and Russel Henderson, didn t even know Matt prior to the night of the incident, so
how d they know if he was gay or not? They reacted to his performance in a way that
was consistent with their own learned gender performances. This theme of prejudice
was a crime fueled by hate, but facilitated by gender performance. The events seemed
to be documented through theatrical drama, though written in the style of a narrative
that tries to present itself as a true story, through tension. The way Kaufman builds

believe that Arendt meant when saying organized guilt is that there are certain
feelings such as awareness that we must recognize; as well as establishing a
difference in moral guilt vs. judicial (law) guilt. As for universal responsibility
Arendt states that when living in a political society as we do we should take
responsibility for all members. These aspects are portrayed early on in this story,
through what happened in the Holocaust. She was upset to see how when the
government was involved with the doings in the Holocaust there were no feelings of

from others can cause unlikely behavior among people and cause suppression of
woman fertility as the result. The tale continues to speak of the process of this
tradition by explain it should be done by noon so that all get to supper. The
children gather together and collects rocks only because Bobby Martin had
already stuffed his pockets full of stones, and the other boys sooner followed his
example. (Jackson 212) This already showing a foreshadow into what is to come
later. The children are teasingly doing what they believe should be done and to
work of peer pressure acts as a result. Mrs. Summer conducts all activities and soon
the main event will start. They had a black box that needed replacement so dearly
but, people seem to ignore that fact. This tradition goes as far back as one the oldest

Digital Music Piracy
Digital Music Piracy
Can t Stop, Won t Stop
Digital music piracy, or the unlawful downloading of copyrighted music, has been a
controversial topic for more than a decade now. The issue was first brought to
attention in 1998 when Shawn Fanning created Napster. Though the MP3 file was
originally developed in 1987, Napster represented the first mainstream and user
friendly program to transfer and download these files. Napster, a peer to peer (P2P)
program, allowed online users to connect with one another and swap copyrighted
music, videos, and other files contained on their computers, thus providing a way to
get free music online. (157) Since music artists and record companies were
uncompensated when consumers downloaded ... Show more content on

(19) There is no doubt that downloading and CD R burning are cutting into sales,
and that it is the major means by which the majority of artists make a living from.
Although touring is another source of income it is impossible for it to fund an
entire career. There are of course, some artists that are reaching stardom and able to
make a very substantial living, but as the CRIA said, for the industry that has
invested in them, those profits are turned right back into funding new artists. So if
consumers want a wide variety of music and their favorite artists to succeed, than
they must support them by buying their music, plain and simple. So what can be
done to decrease music piracy? Besides creating new laws, and suing P2P websites
for copyright infringement there are other fronts being explored. On the
technological front labels are working with several companies in creating a more
secure music format. One example is DRM wrapped digital files and streams. A
process used to limit the usage of digital content. Other options include copy
protected CD s, and products like Data Play, DVD Audio and SACD, which
basically only allow access of information to one specific user. On the commercial
side of the fight, record companies are beginning to offer much lower prices, new
legitimate digital services, as well as many special features like
Beauty and the Media
Television is a rising source of entertainment and information. Many people use it
as a fashion guide a way to determine what is cool to do, or how one should look.
Even seemingly innocent shows such as America s Top Model, Family Guy or
One Tree Hill reflect a certain image of how a gendered individual should look or
act. Yet media would not have such a huge impact on society if the people did not
support it. Peers have a lot of influence over the people they come in contact with.
The desire to be loved and accepted often outweighs one s sense of respect for
themselves. In order to fit it, many people go to extreme lengths to make themselves
fit the ideal image society places on a gendered individual. Media s influence on
American... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Media has an undeniable influence on the way that American s not only view each
other, but on the way they view themselves. Not only do people judge others by
how well they fit the image stereotype, but they apply it to themselves often with
negative results as there are few people who can say they fully fit the image of the
ideal individual. It is a proven fact that Large women are often treated very poorly
in Western society which results in women that are obsessed with thinness and
unhappy with their weight (Christine A. Smith 2). Society looks down on people
that are fat as it is taught to reflect a lack of self control. This results in a generation
of very insecure women who are unhappy with how much they weigh. The line on
what is fat and what isn t is actually even getting pushed forward, making even
those who aren t overweight feel the pressure to be thinner. America s new
personification of beauty is not human, but a doll Barbie Doll. This doll represents
all that American women want to be. Tall, thin, trim, and fine. This doll leaves no
room for different ethnicities, and so neither does society. Esexx Hemphill writes in
his poem, Soft Target, that Barbie never told Black girls/ they are beautiful./ She
never acknowledged/ their breathtaking Negritude (13 16). Barbie the spokesperson
of American society does not acknowledge the fact that anyone outside of her little
aura could be beautiful. Media s
Jicama Cores Lab Report
In the lab that was conducted in class, the question was whether or not the Jicama
cores mass would change in size when placed into different sucrose solutions
overnight. The hypothesis was if you place Jicama cores into different cups
containing a lower amount of sucrose concentration and a higher amount of water
concentration, then the cell s mass would change. It was predicted that the cells mass
would decrease due to less water transferring through the plasma membrane, and this
is due to a lower water concentration being inside the solutionthan inside the core.
Tests were taken to see which sucrose solutionscaused the mass to decrease and
which solutions cause the mass to increase. There was less water concentration when

Fruit Mold Lab Report
Fruit Molds

Abstract
In this lab we looked at the mold on three different fruits in three different
environments to asses which fruit would have the most mold and in which
environment the mold would be present the most. For the experiment we used fruits
that were in season so that we could also compare organic and non organic fruit.
Because of this my group chose tomatoes, peaches and apples. We hypothesized that
peaches would rot the most out of each of the fruits and that the peaches would rot
the most in our warmest environment, the incubator. The fruits were then observed
over a period of weeks. At the end of this period of time the peaches had rotted the
most and burst and the peaches in the incubator were the first to go.
Introduction
After learning about different types of mold in lab as well as in lecture, my group and
I were interested in studying mold more. We wanted to know which fruits from our
selected few would rot the most and in which environment would they be most likely
to rot or mold in. We learned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will also see if there is any big difference between organic and inorganic fruit.
According to our lab on fungus we already knew what the mold would look like so we
were pretty confident that we would be able to identify it without a problem (lab 17
The Kingdom Fungi). With our own knowledge we hypothesized that that out of the
tomatoes, peaches, and apples that the peaches would rot the most and that they
would rot the most while in the incubator (an environment which is approximately 90
degrees Fahrenheit). About a month later and having observed our fruits in various
increments we found that the peaches and the tomatoes were pretty close together but
they peaches ultimately molded the most and molded the most within the
Cortisol Is Good
How is stressing causing horrible problems for people and continuing with bad
outcomes that might lead them bankrupt or dead. How cortisol is effecting
humans and making them choose bad mistakes that might be life threatening. I
agree that it ll lead to stupid mistakes that you can never take back. In my personal
life I ve made stupid stuff that caused a lot of trouble and made me label as an
idiot. This one time I lost my keys at my cousin s house and made a fool of myself
because they were in my car that whole time. A psychologist named Gary Klien
made a discovery on how to prevent stress, by being smart and planning ahead of the
time when you are in rush so put the stuff you need in a certain place, to prepare for
an doctor appointment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This discovery has made a huge impact. The research that has been done is ground
breaking scientists cut off olfactory sense of a squirrel and they could still find their
nuts. The method that was used was hippocampus and it is a mechanism for the brain
to find things. Said Levitin. This means that the brain is an amazing part of our
body and makes us mammals remarkable. However, for things that don t move very
easily, so things like keys are easy to lose and makes we lose our minds so put stuff
like keys to a designated area that you are able to find them and think ahead before

The English Patient By Michael Ondaatje
In times of war everyone has suffered some sort of loss. It creates great
unhappiness and gloominess in the people affected. The only way to overcome
these dark times is through great love and embrace from the people around you,
the people who care for you. Hana, a nurse in one of the most gruesome eras of our
existence, has seen and been through it all. While at the villa she tries and make
everyone s stay, as pleasurable and positive as possible. Hana takes great care of the
English patient and listens to all his stories. She falls helplessly in lovewith Kirpal
Singh; she is a light in his dark times. Hana also gives a new found hope to
Caravaggio after he lost his thumbs, his only tool. In the novel The English Patient by
Michael Ondaatje, Hana s character brings out the best in the people around her
through caring relationships.
The English patient is bed ridden and cannot do anything for himself. He needs
morphine to survive and without Hana he would have been dead a long time ago.
She cares deeply for the English patient and takes care of him from morning till night.
One of the few things that bring AlmГЎsy joy in these dark times are story s being
read to him and him telling stories to others. Hana makes sure that she listens and
reads to him, because this will make his day less miserable, she is brining out the
best in him. She feeds him and cares for him like if it was her own sick father. It is
like a father daughter relationship. Hana lost her father to the
Explain What Type Of Services Does Your Organization...
1.What type of services does your organization provide to the community? Probe:
Out of the services that you provide which ones are the most popular? There are
two aspects of their services the social services or social ministry as they like to
call it and the Core program. The Salvation Army provides a soup kitchen four
days a week. Monthly they serve about 2,500 people. They serve about 177 people
in an hour. They have a food pantry, which provides food for families that have a
resident but many not have enough money to buy food. They provide emergency
clothes, and food stipends other than the pantry. They do coat drives to provide
coats. They have emergency counseling and referrals. They have an ARC detox
program. The core program has bible studies for youth because they are a church.
They also provide activities for children and teens ages 6 and up. They have
drama, arts, and music classes once a week for free. They have troops which is
similar to Girls and Boys scouts. Theirs is based of service and god. Girls are
taught painting and sewing. The younger children are taught how to serve others,
and being well mannered. The boys are taught fishing. A way to keep the children
out of the streets and safe. They have church services on Sundays after Sunday
school. There most popular service is the food services because of requests and
people coming in with needs of food that is their most popular service 2.... Show

What are the populations in the community where you are located and does your
organization serve people from these groups? The populations in the community
vary because of its location. The population the organization serves also varies
because of the soup kitchen. People come from all over for services. Asians and
Spanish were two groups that where mentioned. I was told once a friend knows
about their services they tell their friends and that how the serving grows. I was told
the Asian population has grown because one location in Chinatown was
School-Year-Round School Benefits
Having year round school would be beneficial educationally, but personally as a
student I believe it s not a good idea. Kids love having a big break off school to
have the opportunity to go places. I usually travel in the summer and if I only had
3 4 weeks it wouldn t work out. Last summer I went to Texas and I wouldn t have
been able to do most of the activities I did because they only had them on certain
days. Also 5 summers ago my family and I flew out to Germany. We spent two
weeks there, but we didn t go as soon as summer started so if the break wasn t as
long as it is we wouldn t have had the chance to fly there. Now a longer winter
break sounds like a great idea, but losing most of the summer break doesn t seem
worth it. Having longer breaks during the schoolyear to me is even worse than having
a big break before school. My reasons for that is because when you re learning
material and you go from learning that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When schools let out for winter break or spring break most students aren t going
home and studying everyday. That then causes them to forget material taught
those days before. So making those breaks longer and making summer break
shorter is less beneficial. Some students can barely remember one day s lesson
over a weekend. It would be completely pointless to make that change to the normal
schedule. Also since most schools do summer reading it would affect many
students all around. 3 4 weeks of break wouldn t be enough time for some kids to
travel and read because some are just finishing their first book in that period of
time. Some students even work during the summer too so add that on top of that
and no kid is completing the reading. It would create more work for English
teachers because they usually have students spend the first couple of weeks working
on their reading projects. Therefore they would need to come up with different
lessons to do during those first weeks of
The Moral Principle Of The Right
The moral principle of the right to die, is a way of thinking where a human being
has the choice to end their life on their own terms. The right to die, also known as
physician assisted suicide, is heavily contemplated in patients who are diagnosed
as terminally ill. Being diagnosed as terminally ill may come at any point in one s
life. Once a patient is given this news it puts a greater weight on their shoulders as
now they must adjust to accommodate a new reality. Many patients fear that their
near future will consist of becoming a burden to their family members financially
as well as mentally, since they may not be able to afford the medical bills. Those
who are terminally ill may worry that they are not going to be able to control their
level of pain when it worsens as their physical condition deteriorates. With the
diagnosis of a terminal disease many believe what follows will be unnecessary
suffering that is brought on by the symptoms, many of which individuals would avoid
at all costs. Currently there are only four states that have the Right to Die Law
enacted; California, Oregon, Washington, and Vermont. Within these states patients
have the option of physician assisted suicide, if their medical condition meets certain
requirements to obtain this option. Terminally ill patients who live outside of these
four states do not have the option of physician assisted suicide available to them. In
this position paper I argue, that enacting a National Right to Die Law in the

Simpson s Bambaata A Review Of Hip-Hop 1983: Afrika Bambaataa spins the wheels of steel, his vintage scratching skills and guru like vibe turning Chic s Good Times into a mass call and response. As fists pump the air and a smile appears on every face, a sweaty Liverpool rock venue is transformed into a euphoric New York block party. (Simpson). A scene from his 1982 global tour, where Bambaataa brought the principals of his Universal Zulu Nation abroad, Simpson exclaims on how Bambaataa, former gang warlord, founder of the black nationalist Universal Zulu Nation, and Master of the Records got thousands of oppressed people from all different parts of the worlds, to pump their fists to a synchronized beat, soon to be distilled in one message: peace, love, unity, and having fun. In the 1970s, hip hop was as a voice for marginalized African American and Puerto Rican youth. This movement was a generational revolt against the status quo, and in the midst of it becoming global, it became commercial, about making money. Rather than valuing the music s effects on the people, as the review of Bambaataa did, TOURE shows how the 1980s 1990s music industry had begun to commercialize it, stripping it of its focus on the backbeat and transforming it into something else. Rather than reflecting the voices and needs of youth at the time, it became something unachievable above the people, effectively diluting its political

Intersectionality and the Birth of Black Feminism In It s All In the Family, Patricia Hill Collins compares the importance of family to the concept of intersectionality, which was built upon the black feminist movement. Collins references the Combahee River Collective s Black Feminist Statement in the second footnote as a place where the reader can learn more about Black Women s Studies and their thoughts on intersectionality. The Combahee River Collective is a group of black feminists and lesbians that have been meeting since 1974. They specifically write to the two political movements in which they should be included: the white feminist and black male communities. Through an analysis of the birth of contemporary black feminism and the unique issues that black women face, the Combahee River Collective hopes to educate others about intersectionality and what it means to be fully inclusive in political movements. The statement begins by explaining that women of color face unparalleled political struggles due to a combination of their racial and sexual identities. Though... It is probably the biggest and most popular of this type of websites throughout the entire Internet. A good aspect of this money making plan is that it is easy to sell products on the site. There are some cons associated with this way of earning though. Such as the fees correlated with the selling a product, there is more than one. Another issue is that it is not easy and a lot of work for sometimes less than satisfactory outcome. Along with all this it can be quite difficult to determine the right niche for your products in order to beat the heavy competition involved with whatever it might be. We have been able to convert raw materials from the Earth to make our lives better with cars, computers, houses, etc. However the more our civilization evolves and humans occupy the Earth, the more animal species have been disappearing. The way we live affects animal species more than one may think. We affect them when we do things that change the climate, irresponsibly dispose of waste, and steal their habitats and homes. • 10. Stephen King s Autopsy Room Four Stephen Edwin King was born on September 21, 1947, in Portland, Maine. King is one of the most successful horror writers of all time. His parents split up when he was very young, and he and his brother divided their time between Indiana and Connecticut for several years. King later moved back with his mother and brother. Then he graduated from Lisbon Falls High School. King then attended the University of Maine. He wrote for the school s newspaper. King also published his first writing while in college. After graduating, he tried to find a position as a teacher, but he had no luck. King still continued to write stories in his free time until he later started working as an English teacher. King later married and had three children: Naomi, Joseph, and Owen. King uses many of his past experiences in his stories, such as in Pet Sematary when his own cat died and he had to bury it in an animal graveyard. Stephen King also uses very realistic imagery in his stories. He also tends to include a lot of brand names that can sometimes be too much, although it does provide the realism. ... The stupidity of the doctors almost ends up killing him. He survives the ordeal. Another major theme is misery. King likes to put his characters in deep emotional stress or confusion. That s what all of the stories I read have in common. I ve read Autopsy Room Four , The Man in the Black Suit , All That You Love Will Be Carried Away , and In the Deathroom . They all gave me chills, and I also don t recommend you read them before going to

When reading their stories the reader can identify how different life experiences have influenced and inspired them to write the way they do. The similarities in both authors are the cultural obstacles they had to surpass to be the successful writers they became. A deeper examination of Cisneros famous short story, Woman Hollering Creek will highlight the liberation of those barriers. In this particular short story Cisneros speaks about the main character, Cleofilas, and her struggle with her abusive husband, Juan Pedro. Cleofilas had to live in a society where the women were simply there to assist their husbands, and God forbid she second guessed him. Living and struggling with the everyday battle of stereotypes, she decided to leave her husband at the end of this short story. This all developed the strong independent female role Cleofilas took on by the end of the story. The main character was forced to believe by her family and her husband that she wasn t worth anything without a man; this made her doubtful of her abilities and her human capital. In the interview by Martha Satz, Cisneros says, I think many of my stories come from dealing with straddling two cultures, and certainly it s something I m going to deal with in future stories (Cisneros 30). Here, Cisneros agrees that her stories have to do with the endless topic about coming from two cultures and the stereotypes it brings along. From firsthand accounts the Mexican American culture is embraced by machismo , or that male superiority. Woman Hollering Creek

The Reason Behind Discovery The Reason behind Discovery Once I found this painting my initial reaction was that I wanted to be able to see his face and was extremely bothered by the apple in the front. As I continued to look at the photo I soon realized that I could actually see both of his eyes to the slightest extent. After noticing this I was somewhat relieved that I could at lease see a small amount. The piece of the painting that drew most of my attention simply because I felt that it was completely out of place. Therefore by it being there I was both confused and upset at the same time. At this point I had not reading the meaning behind why the author had decided to place it there and therefore was confused and began to think that I was possibly looking at a modified painting of some kind. The man can be seen as a problem and the apple can be seen as a distraction from the problem. There are several techniques that were utilized the artists in order to cause the viewer to react in specific ways. One of these is by making the painting completely balanced by placing the man and the apple in the direct center of the painting. Not only did the artist place the object in the center but he also made the rest of the objects in the painting significantly lighter. By doing this it causes the viewer to put more focus onto the man and the apple. In terms of dominance, the artist made it so the man is the largest object inside of the photo and therefore most of the attention goes towards him. The

  • 21. Tartuffe, a Comedy by Molier Tartuffe is one of the most famous comedies written by the French playwright MoliГЁre. The play tells the story of a wealthy Frenchman named Orgon who takes in Tartuffe, a man who presents himself to be religious and passionate but actually turns out to be a hypocrite. Despite his family s warnings, Orgon completely turns his back on his family in order to protect Tartuffe, who betrays him. During that time the play was first written and performed, many people, along with King Louis XIV himself, enjoyed the play. However, to others it was seen as being critical of religion and the church, which then lead to it being banned. In a political sense, Tartuffe serves as both an endorsement and critique of the ideas of absolutism, divine right,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In those times, religion was hard to separate from politics and other aspects. Tartuffe was able to fool people by claiming to be a devout man of God. If this were to happen with the King s advisors, it could cause corruption throughout many parts of the kingdom. MoliГЁre does believe that the King should seek advice from others, but he warns that he should listen to many opinions and think carefully before making a final decision. The divine right theory claims that the monarchs are specially selected by God to rule the kingdom. Consequently, the King is responsible for his own actions and decisions. However, God is the only one who can make judgments. So even if the King rules unfairly, that does not permit the citizens to rebel against his rule. Rather, it is up to God to handle it. In Tartuffe, MoliГЁre seems to praise the King for his fairness and mercy by pardoning Orgon in the end. Due to his previous loyalty to the throne, he returned Orgon s property to him and forgave him for hiding the papers. The wise King also saw through Tartuffe s deception and hypocrisy and had him arrested. These events in the story definitely show MoliГЁre s support for King Louis XIV, as he knew that abolitionism and divine right were honest intentions to rule the kingdom fairly. Also during this time period, an emphasis was placed on patriarchal family. God has ultimate authority over all, as He is the true

The law of supply states that there s a positive relationship between the price and quantity supplied of a good ceteris paribus; as price increases, quantity supplied increases. The law of demand, states that there s a negative relationship between the price and quantity demanded of a good ceteris paribus; as price increases, quantity demanded decreases. The main reason for the rising price of oats is due to non price determinants of supply; any variables other than price that causes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The change in supply results from a nonprice determinant; the rain and snow. Because of this, the oat harvest has been delayed and farmers are unable to harvest as much as they were capable of in previous years. Because oats are a primary commodity; a product produced in the primary sector, they have a fairly inelastic demand because they are a necessity without many substitutes. The change in prices will cause a drop in profits for farmers and producers. The poor weather conditions also affects the quality of the oats as a result, more oats end up as food for the livestock instead of being sent to producers who manufacture oat products. The supply curve shifts leftwards and leads to an increase in price from P1 to P2 and a decrease in quantity supplied from Q1 to Q2. Figure B: Supply and Demand for Producers of Oat Products Figure B shows a leftward shift in the supply curve from S1 to S2 for producers who require oats for production. Due to the non price determinant that caused farmers to acquire less supply, this in turn results in a smaller supply for the producers. Furthermore, a smaller supply means the prices of oats will rise and the producers will require more money for production. This results in an increase in price from P1 to P2 and a decrease in quantity supplied from Q1 to Q2. Figure C: Consumer s Demand for Products with

In A.S. Byatt s The Thing in the Forest we are taken on such an adventure, but this is more than just a children s fairytale. Through figurative language we are shown that the main characters, Penny and Primrose, are dealing with more than just a creature in the forest, and that with this use of symbols as a way to express a larger meaning to objects in the story, we better understand how Penny and Primrose are dealing with being away from their family during a time of war in England. With the use of symbols, Byatt can make reference to problems with the girls or make a comment on the larger picture of war at the time. The three largest symbols that appear in the story are the mansion, the forest, and of course, the thing in the forest. Each symbol represents something bigger in the whole scheme of things. The mansion that the girls are first sent to is a cold and dreary place to the children. Byatt describes the mansion as cold and dark. This is because of war time in England and they are tying to not be obvious. This dreariness only helps the symbol of the mansion to represent what is going on at that time. The house is a representation of the State. That being the government and everything that is part of the security it provides. There is a sense of security in a way that the mansion is used. The government commandeered the mansion for use as a safe house, although there still is a feeling of doubt about it. To the girls and other children, the mansion is a place of security or home until they move on. This is most likely not what the girls had in mind when they arrived. For them to feel any sort of comfort in this time of tragedy, they will need to stick together and make the best of the situation. The girls seemed to be thinking the worst of every event but at the mansion, things were taken care of to the best of the ability of the adults there to care for them. Unlike the

New South Wales Public Education System In 1866 New South Wales enacted the Public Schools Act that aimed to address government spending on education, resulting in government schools receiving priority over denominational schools, and providing access to education for the growing number of communities across the colony . However, times were changing as by the 1870s, in New South Wales, up to sixty per cent of Catholic schoolchildren attended state schools . Conflict escalated again in 1879 when the new Catholic Archbishop, Vaughan, denounced the state schools of New South Wales describing them as seed plots of future immorality, infidelity and lawlessness and accused them of squeezing very gradually and almost imperceptibly the Catholic faith out of Catholic people. In response the Parkes government enacted the Public Instruction Act of 1880, which resulted in primary education becoming nominally compulsory, cheap, widespread, and removed all state aid to denominational schools . Again the Catholics responded negatively to the decision, which aided in preserving the Catholic identity, although this came at the cost of making themselves a distinctive sub culture in the Australian community . King Arthur was a British legend and over time the stories became a collection of stories written by different authors. King Arthur was actually a general in the fifth century that fought to keep Brittan a free paradise of the western hemisphere. With the different writers over the years writing about the great King Arthurthe stories got distorted and became more of myth than that of truth of the real King Arthur. The first writings of King Arthur were around 830 by an author by the name of Nennius, according to the Britons. There are many writings in existence today, as many as 200 over King Arthur. On the other hand, others will say that the covers were just another way for large record labels and big name artists to make money off the exploitation of the original artists. During my free write I actually had a lot to say about this specific topic regarding authenticity in the new age music, especially in terms of remixes. My big question was, are remixes any more authentic than a cover? I would say that they might be slightly more authentic than covers only because a remix opens the possibility of the remix artist using the same production to paint a completely different story than what the original artist did. This gives the remix artist some new, quotable lyrics that can be directly tied with that artist regardless of the beat playing under it. The best thing about remixes is that the remix artist does not profit off of this, or if they do it is only when they get permission from the original artist to do so with some sort of payment being given to

I wonder sometimes how humanity back then could have had values and ideals so horrific and not feel a thing for them. To say the least Arendt was a great writed of philosophical issues and I would like so explore more of her beliefs and theories. Discussion question (specific to each text these may be available online, on handouts or in class): What does Arendt mean the terms organized guilt and universal responsibility ? How do they explain what happened in the Holocaust, and the difficulties of coming to terms with it? I believe that Arendt meant when saying organized guilt is that there are certain feelings such as awareness that we must recognize; as well as establishing a difference in moral guilt vs. judicial (law) guilt. As for universal responsibility Arendt states that when living in a political society as we do we should take responsibility for all members. These aspects are portrayed early on in this story, through what happened in the Holocaust. She was upset to see how when the government was involved with the doings in the Holocaust there were no feelings of guilt or sense of

The overall argument conveys that unless the oil industry and the consumer take an alternative route to dangerous oil drilling more such calamities are destined to occur (Klare 1). Klare is very vocal in criticizing of the BP executives concerning the Deepwater Horizon disaster. This is Klare s strategy for all of his scenarios. It is interesting that throughout the article Klare is very anti oil drilling and uses very harsh examples and words, but finishes his article on a softer note with a disclaimer. That would all make a cynical turn when this tradition is not all joy and happiness. This small village only consist of about 300 people, so the lottery did not take long compared to others that may take two days. The hasten to finish makes the tradition seems as if unwanted and to be done as quickly as possible. The villagers seem to only participate in this ritual become it has been practiced for so many years. I will argue in this paper that peer pressure from others can cause unlikely behavior among people and cause suppression of woman fertility as the result. The tale continues to speak of the process of this tradition by explain it should be done by noon so that all get to supper. The children gather together and collects rocks only because Bobby Martin had already stuffed his pockets full of stones, and the other boys sooner followed his example. • 42. Digital Music Piracy Digital Music Piracy Can t Stop, Won t Stop Digital music piracy, or the unlawful downloading of copyrighted music, has been a controversial topic for more than a decade now. The issue was first brought to attention in 1998 when Shawn Fanning created Napster. Though the MP3 file was originally developed in 1987, Napster represented the first mainstream and user friendly program to transfer and download these files. Napster, a peer to peer (P2P) program, allowed online users to connect with one another and swap copyrighted music, videos, and other files contained on their computers, thus providing a way to get free music online. (19) There is no doubt that downloading and CD R burning are cutting into sales, and that it is the major means by which the majority of artists make a living from. Although touring is another source of income it is impossible for it to fund an entire career. There are of course, some artists that are reaching stardom and able to make a very substantial living, but as the CRIA said, for the industry that has invested in them, those profits are turned right back into funding new artists. So if consumers want a wide variety of music and their favorite artists to succeed, than they must support them by buying their music, plain and simple. So what can be done to decrease music piracy? Besides creating new laws, and suing P2P websites for copyright infringement there are other fronts being explored. On the technological front labels are working with several companies in creating a more secure music format. One example is DRM wrapped digital files and streams. A process used to limit the usage of digital content. Other options include copy protected CD s, and products like Data Play, DVD Audio and SACD, which basically only allow access of information to one specific user. On the commercial side of the fight, record companies are beginning to offer much lower prices, new legitimate digital services, as well as many special features like
  • 43. Beauty and the Media Television is a rising source of entertainment and information. Many people use it as a fashion guide a way to determine what is cool to do, or how one should look. Even seemingly innocent shows such as America s Top Model, Family Guy or One Tree Hill reflect a certain image of how a gendered individual should look or act. Yet media would not have such a huge impact on society if the people did not support it. Peers have a lot of influence over the people they come in contact with. The desire to be loved and accepted often outweighs one s sense of respect for themselves. In order to fit it, many people go to extreme lengths to make themselves fit the ideal image society places on a gendered individual. Media s influence on American... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Media has an undeniable influence on the way that American s not only view each other, but on the way they view themselves. Not only do people judge others by how well they fit the image stereotype, but they apply it to themselves often with negative results as there are few people who can say they fully fit the image of the ideal individual. It is a proven fact that Large women are often treated very poorly in Western society which results in women that are obsessed with thinness and unhappy with their weight (Christine A. Smith 2). Society looks down on people that are fat as it is taught to reflect a lack of self control. This results in a generation of very insecure women who are unhappy with how much they weigh. The line on what is fat and what isn t is actually even getting pushed forward, making even those who aren t overweight feel the pressure to be thinner. America s new personification of beauty is not human, but a doll Barbie Doll. This doll represents all that American women want to be. Tall, thin, trim, and fine. This doll leaves no room for different ethnicities, and so neither does society. Esexx Hemphill writes in his poem, Soft Target, that Barbie never told Black girls/ they are beautiful./ She never acknowledged/ their breathtaking Negritude (13 16). Barbie the spokesperson of American society does not acknowledge the fact that anyone outside of her little aura could be beautiful. Media s

Jicama Cores Lab Report In the lab that was conducted in class, the question was whether or not the Jicama cores mass would change in size when placed into different sucrose solutions overnight. The hypothesis was if you place Jicama cores into different cups containing a lower amount of sucrose concentration and a higher amount of water concentration, then the cell s mass would change. It was predicted that the cells mass would decrease due to less water transferring through the plasma membrane, and this is due to a lower water concentration being inside the solutionthan inside the core. Tests were taken to see which sucrose solutionscaused the mass to decrease and which solutions cause the mass to increase. There was less water concentration when the sucrose

Fruit Mold Lab Report Fruit Molds Brenna Rivera November 29, 2016 Anaruth Alfaro Abstract In this lab we looked at the mold on three different fruits in three different environments to asses which fruit would have the most mold and in which environment the mold would be present the most. For the experiment we used fruits that were in season so that we could also compare organic and non organic fruit. Because of this my group chose tomatoes, peaches and apples. We hypothesized that peaches would rot the most out of each of the fruits and that the peaches would rot the most in our warmest environment, the incubator. The fruits were then observed over a period of weeks. At the end of this period of time the peaches had rotted the most and burst and the peaches in the incubator were the first to go. Probe: Out of the services that you provide which ones are the most popular? There are two aspects of their services the social services or social ministry as they like to call it and the Core program. The Salvation Army provides a soup kitchen four days a week. Monthly they serve about 2,500 people. They serve about 177 people in an hour. • 50. School-Year-Round School Benefits Having year round school would be beneficial educationally, but personally as a student I believe it s not a good idea. Kids love having a big break off school to have the opportunity to go places. I usually travel in the summer and if I only had 3 4 weeks it wouldn t work out. Last summer I went to Texas and I wouldn t have been able to do most of the activities I did because they only had them on certain days. Also 5 summers ago my family and I flew out to Germany. We spent two weeks there, but we didn t go as soon as summer started so if the break wasn t as long as it is we wouldn t have had the chance to fly there. Now a longer winter break sounds like a great idea, but losing most of the summer break doesn t seem worth it. Having longer breaks during the schoolyear to me is even worse than having a big break before school. My reasons for that is because when you re learning material and you go from learning that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When schools let out for winter break or spring break most students aren t going home and studying everyday. That then causes them to forget material taught those days before. So making those breaks longer and making summer break shorter is less beneficial. Some students can barely remember one day s lesson over a weekend. It would be completely pointless to make that change to the normal schedule. Also since most schools do summer reading it would affect many students all around. 3 4 weeks of break wouldn t be enough time for some kids to travel and read because some are just finishing their first book in that period of time. Some students even work during the summer too so add that on top of that and no kid is completing the reading. It would create more work for English teachers because they usually have students spend the first couple of weeks working on their reading projects. Therefore they would need to come up with different lessons to do during those first weeks of
  • 51. The Moral Principle Of The Right The moral principle of the right to die, is a way of thinking where a human being has the choice to end their life on their own terms. The right to die, also known as physician assisted suicide, is heavily contemplated in patients who are diagnosed as terminally ill. Being diagnosed as terminally ill may come at any point in one s life. Once a patient is given this news it puts a greater weight on their shoulders as now they must adjust to accommodate a new reality. Many patients fear that their near future will consist of becoming a burden to their family members financially as well as mentally, since they may not be able to afford the medical bills. Those who are terminally ill may worry that they are not going to be able to control their level of pain when it worsens as their physical condition deteriorates. With the diagnosis of a terminal disease many believe what follows will be unnecessary suffering that is brought on by the symptoms, many of which individuals would avoid at all costs. Currently there are only four states that have the Right to Die Law enacted; California, Oregon, Washington, and Vermont. Within these states patients have the option of physician assisted suicide, if their medical condition meets certain requirements to obtain this option. Terminally ill patients who live outside of these four states do not have the option of physician assisted suicide available to them. In this position paper I argue, that enacting a National Right to Die Law in the
