Thesis Essay Examples
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Thesis Essay Examples" can be a challenging endeavor,
requiring a delicate balance between creativity, critical analysis, and the ability to present a
cohesive argument. The complexity arises from the need to not only explore the theoretical
aspects of thesis essays but also to provide concrete examples that illustrate the principles
discussed.
Firstly, delving into the realm of thesis essays requires a thorough understanding of the subject
matter, as well as the ability to identify and articulate a clear thesis statement. This statement
serves as the backbone of the essay, guiding the reader through the argument and setting the tone
for the entire piece. Generating an original and compelling thesis statement is a task that demands
intellectual acuity and a keen awareness of the broader context.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to the selection and incorporation of relevant examples.
These examples must not only support the thesis but also showcase a depth of understanding and
insight. The writer must navigate through a vast pool of potential examples, choosing those that
are not only pertinent but also effectively illustrate the nuances of the thesis.
Organizing the essay coherently is another hurdle. The flow of ideas, the logical progression of
arguments, and the seamless transition between paragraphs require careful attention. Balancing
depth and breadth of analysis is essential, as the essay must delve into the specifics of thesis
essays while maintaining a broader perspective.
In addition to these challenges, there's the ever-present need for meticulous research and the
ability to synthesize information from various sources. This demands a combination of analytical
skills and a discerning eye for reputable and relevant literature.

Essay On Magnetic Field
Summer of 2017 saw UT Southwestern Medical Center make considerable strides in
biotech with the development of high frequency alternating magnetic fields to
destroy bacterial films on the surfaces of artificial joints in the body simply by
heating the joints themselves. These bacterial infections tend to be of great detriment
to patients, and they prove impeccably resilient to antibiotics. Since then, that same
research has been furthered to prove itself on human test subjects. Now, the U.S.
Energy Department illustrates the ability to see bacterial cells magnetic fields via
electron microscopy, which marks a milestone both for microscopy and for scientific
rendering of magnetic nano objects in liquid and bacterial cell magnetic fields... Show

When we look at samples prepared in the conventional way, we have to make many
assumptions about their properties based on their final state, but with the new
technique, we can now observe these processes first hand, Prozorov explains. It can
help us understand the dynamics of macromolecule aggregation, nanoparticle self
assembly, and the effects of electric and magnetic fields on that process. This bears
significant implications for biotechnological applications, especially in light of recent
research regarding the use of magnetic heating to eradicate bacteria from surfaces
within the human body.
People get metal parts implanted all the time to compensate for injuries or very old
body parts. These pieces range from metal plates to pins to artificial joints, but they
all serve relatively similar purposes holding bones together. The problem that comes
from this from time to time is that bacteria inside a patient s body eventually find
these metal surfaces and seek refuge on or in them. Ordinarily, physicians
recommend surgery to get rid of those bacteria, but new research suggests that
surgery may no longer be necessary; rather, it may be possible to get the same result
with the non invasive alternative of magnetic heating.
These bacteria can be very difficult to remove because they form biofilms thin sheets
that form a viscous, protective membrane of sorts like plaque on enamel. Even
though this only happens to
How Richard Avedon Changed Photography
A photographer takes a picture of an object or scene and freezes it in a way that
captures how they saw it. Many photographers have different styles just like painters
or writers do. Some are more similar to each other, while others stand out more from
the crowd and like to stretch the boundaries. These styles usually act as a foundation
for a new style of photography. One of the most influential and famous photographers
of the 20th century was Richard Avedon. Richard Avedon was a fashion photographer
who changed photography forever.
Richard Avedon was born on May 15, 1923 in New York City. He was born to Anna
Avedon and Jacob Israel. Avedon attended DeWitt Clinton High School where he
followed a passion for poetry with his friend James Baldwin. ... Show more content

One thing that really separates Avedon from other fashion photographers is that in
his pictures he made sure his models were conveying emotion and movement rather
than the typical fashion picture where the model is bland and motionless. He would
at times evoke reactions from his portrait subjects by guiding them into
uncomfortable areas of discussion or asking them psychologically probing questions.
Through these means he would produce images revealing aspects of his subject s
character and personality that were not typically captured by others. (2) Avedon s
style usually conveyed a figure looking squarely at the camera rather than at the
person. The figure is usually stationed in front of a white background. This meant
soft light and props were eliminated allowing the focus of the picture to be solely on
the person. The final images would usually be bordered by the film outline and
would generally only show a portion of the figure. Most photographers can only take
pictures that either captured a moment in time or a formal image, not both. Avedon,
however, was capable of doing
The Rise Of Hezbollah
Origin and Rise in Influence The origins of Hezbollah can be traced from the
residual effects of oppression the Shiite community faced by Christians and Sunni
elites (Masters and Laub, 2014). However, the tipping point came after the Israeli
invasion of Lebanon in 1982, that same year Hezbollah was formed with the help of
Iran; ideologies stemming from the ones displayed during the Iranian Revolution
(Masters and Laub, 2014). Hezbollahgained legitimacy when they repelled the French
and American peacekeepers from Lebanonthen ultimately caused by the withdrawal
of Israeli forces (Global Security, n.d.). Iran s support came with the agreement that
with their support the newly formed Hezbollah would establish an Islamic Republic

The civil war was the catalyst that nurtured Hezbollah enough so that their influence
would transform form just a thorn on the Lebanese government side to a political
party having their own seat at the table (Wiegand, 2009). Hezbollah s political
ambitions have not affected their terrorist activities however, from political
infiltration, guerilla force capability, a media empire to global organized crime
syndicates (Wiegand, 2009). Boasting some of the most well trained operatives in
their military faction, Hezbollah continues to operate politically and militaristically
(Badran, 2009). The United Nation created a distinction between their political and
military factions, which allowed them to avoid the United Nation s terrorist list and
similarly, the British government only blacklisted their military wing (Badran, 2009).
However, Hezbollah s leadership remained adamant that no such distinction exist
between the two that they operate congruently (Badran, 2009). This further reinforces
Hezbollah s ambition to see their Islamic Republic come to fruition; actions whether
violent or politically are the means they use to accomplish this (Wiegand,
Most Average Day Research Paper
The Most Average Day of My Life
It was an average, regular Tuesday. I woke up at 7:15 to the buzzing of my alarm
after a particularly good dream, which I cannot remember at the current moment. I
stood up, unsteadily, and turned off my alarm. I then proceeded to lie back down
in my bed for about 5 10 mins. After that, I got back up, changed my alarm to wake
me up Wednesday at 7:25, then I went downstairs to use the bathroom. I went back
upstairs to get dressed . Once I was dressed, I was reminded by my sister that today
was Superhero Day for school, so I dug through my dresser for my Spider Man shirt,
changed my shirt to that shirt, went back downstairs, and continued preparing myself
for the day ahead.
I waited for the bus, the warm chill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I got the science done with absolute ease, but the math paper was still slightly
difficult to complete. I got that done and got to work on the Personal Narrative for
English. I also listened to my sister having difficulty with a worksheet on theme she
had to do. I had salsbury steak for dinner, and mashed potatoes that I made, maybe
even without reading the directions a little. After dinner, I sat back down in a chair
in our living room and watched TV, then I walked to my room and drifted off to sleep
in my bed. So ends to my average
The Hobbit Essay Bilbo Baggins
The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, is centered on Bilbo Baggins, the classical hero
who starts out as an average hobbit in an immense world, goes on an adventure and
begins find his special gifts that are unique to him, and returns to his old way of
life having been changed forever. Bilbo Baggins is a very respectable hobbit living
in the Shire. He is just a tiny speck in the vast expanse of Middle Earth and what
lies beyond. By a rule, hobbits are to strive for respect from their fellow hobbits.
Consequently, it is extremely rare and looked down upon for a hobbit such as
Bilbo to venture out of his comfortable hobbit hole and embark on an adventure . In
Bilbo s own words, adventures are nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make
you late for dinner! So like a classical hero, Bilbo starts out as an everyman denying
any sort of adventures that come his way. However he may deny it, his Tookish
side, or the more adventurous side of his ancestry, is ever present within Bilbo. The
dwarves, also on this adventure along with Bilbo, can t see any use in bringing him
along, but Gandalf the wizard assures them that Bilbo has greatness within him and
they will one day thank him for bringing him. As he says himself while talking to
the dwarves, I brought him, and I don t bring things that are of no use. If we can
only find him again, you will thank me... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bilbo is no stranger to this quest. He is torn between his Took side and his more
respectable side. He struggles to find his place in the lawless world of adventure
that he has embarked on. When the company encounters the trolls, Bilbo tries to
prove his worth by stealing something from the trolls. When this goes wrong and he
is discovered, the dwarves try to find him and they also are captured by the trolls.
While trying to prove himself, Bilbo just about turned the whole company (except
Gandalf) into a troll s
Hypothesis Of A Hypothesis Test
Hypothesis testing is very essential in statistical analysis. It is quite imperative to
state both a null hypothesis and an alternative hypothesis when conducting a
hypothesis test because the hypotheses are mutually exclusive and if one statement
is true then the other is proven as false. According to Mirabella (2011, p. 4 1) states
that, When we have a theory about a parameter (the average is...,the proportion
is....,etc), we can test that theory via a hypothesis test. Therefore, that is what we
have used to determine if the average age of Whatsamatta U MBA students is less
than 45. We have to conduct a one sample hypothesis test to prove if we can accept
or reject the null hypothesis. In order to determine what decision rule, which is the
statement that tells under which condition to reject the null hypothesis, to propose
we must first determine if we are instituting a upper tailed, lower tailed, or two tailed
test. There are many steps used when initiating a hypothesis test. First and foremost it
is vital to specify the null and alternative hypothesis, next we have to determine a
significance level that is tolerable such as 0.05 which is your tolerance for error, and
last we have to calculate the statistic that is comparable to the parameters set by the
null hypothesis.
Additionally, when utilizing hypothesis testing, we are attempting to determine
whether or not to accept or reject the null hypothesis. Furthermore, we have to
determine if there is enough

HINTS are the Health Information National Trends Survey a program that monitors
changes on the field of health communications. They provide updates on changing
patterns and information opportunities in health. The best thing is that they offer a
great deal of surveys for researches to test new theories in health communications. By
updating their surveys it makes the website credible and easier for people to use the
information that they provide. While researching the HINTS website I saw that,
HINTS was developed by the Health Communication and Informatics Research

as an outcome of the National Cancer Institute s Extraordinary Opportunity in
Cancer Communication. It is their goal to keep updating their data so that people
can, refine their theories of health communication in the information age and to
offer new and better recommendations for reducing the burden of cancer throughout
the population. Their data is also open to the public. Hints data is also available for
public and anyone who is needs their data done quickly. In the frequency table for

Diphtheria In The Use Of Force By William Carlos Williams
In William Carlos Williams The Use of Force, a doctor visits a patient who is at
fatal risk of diphtheria. This narration is told in first person in the perspective of the
doctor as a reflection on his visit. The story is allegorical for impulsivity and self
control. From the moment he arrives on scene, it becomes evident that the visit will
be out of the ordinary, to say the least. Due to lack of cooperation from the young girl
he tends to and the inability to control his mind, body, or temper, the benign check up
turns into a haphazard battle between man and girl. Williams contrasts the two
characters through animalistic description, symbolism, and diction. Mathilda s
resistance to the doctortriggers an emotional response inside of him and ultimately
leads him to harm her. Williams demonstrates how easily humans revert to a primitive
state when encountered with conflict; the doctors embodies a predator and Mathilda
represents prey.
Mathilda s behavior mischaracterizes her for she acts immaturely, beyond her age.
Despite her actions, she is aware of her surroundings. At her school, there have been
outbreaks of diphtheria. Naturally, her parents seek to insure their daughter s health
so they call a doctor to their home. When he arrives, he notices that the child was
fairly eating [him] up with her cold, steady eyes, and no expression to her face
whatever. She did not move and seemed, inwardly, quiet; an unusually attractive little
thing, and as strong as a heifer in
Media And The Reporting Of Hurricane Katrina
Media and the reporting of Hurricane Katrina For this discussion we were asked to
answer a question in regards to Hurricane Katrina. The question that we were to
answer was: After reading the article, what were our thoughts and opinions about the
article?
Thoughts and opinions about the article
The article is exactly what this learner expected, especially after living through
Hurricane Andrew that hit Miami, Fla years ago. So, when this learner reads the
article it was exactly what she expected from the media after such a major disaster
like hurricane Katrina.
When there s a disaster like this, the media expect a lot of looting, lack of response
to the disaster, victims in need of rescue, and even death. But if the media does not
believe it is sensational enough, they will create or as this learner likes to call it lie
about the facts to gain the attention they need to create ratings for their news stations
no matter what, because good news does not catch the viewers attention nor does it
help their ratings, but bad news is a attention getter, and will help raise their ratings,
and maybe even put them in line for The Alfred I. duPont Columbia University
Awards for reporters. The other things that they did not see too much of was the
lawlessness or looting, so they exaggerated the severity.
This learner wonders why they thought there would be a massive amount of looting.
There area was flooded, even if they found anything where would they take it? They

Similarities Between Scrooge And Bob Cratchit
Scrooge s clerk, Bob Cratchit had a clear view of the vexation clearly shown on
Scrooge s face as he snatched up a ruler with such vigour that the child who had
begun to recite a Christmas carol frantically scrambled away. He had been looking
through the key hole of the counting house. Bob Cratchit felt a small drop of pity for
the youth but many a child had been warned of Scrooge s frosty temper particularly
upon ChristmasEve.
When the long awaited hour to finally shut up the counting house arrived, Scrooge
unwillingly alighted from his wooden seat and wordlessly signalled to Bob Cratchit
that it was indeed closing time. Bob Cratchit unlike Scrooge unhesitatingly
extinguished his candle and quickly placed his tattered hat upon his head.
Pros And Cons Of Wireless Networking Protocols
COM 309: Wireless Networking Protocols
A computer network is a communication system that links together devices referred as
Nodes. These devices are connected using communication channels. A
communication channel is assigned to a medium used to transport information from
one network device to another, such as wired channels and wireless channels
(Parsons, 2016).
A primary system is made up of at least two computing devices either wired or
wireless points of connection; these points are network ports. There are usually one
network hub or network switch that permits their interconnection. The most standard
wired computer networks are known as Ethernet. This is made up of UTP
(unshielded twisted pair) cables, and just about all personal computers have a
UTP Ethernet Network port as standard. The printer also comes with an Ethernet
port, making it easily shared amongst the user of a network. Other wired channels
are coaxial cable used for cable T.V, Category 6 cables used for LANs, and fiber
optic cables used for high capacity trunk lines. Most local area networks (LAN) are
used in small businesses network. Wired networks are much more secure than
wireless networks. The Computer Age has shifted from a traditional industry to an
economy is formed on information computerization. The arrival of the computer age
is associated with the Digital Revolution. Today, the internet has generated attritions

In England, during the 15th and 16th centuries, the previously underground and
ignored practice of witchcraft became an offense that was punishable by death.
Women were the majority of the citizens who were tried for the crime of witchcraft.
The belief that they were given their supernatural powers by the devil and aimed to
crush all Christian values and people caused their excessive persecution.1 This paper
will explain why most individuals accused of witchcraftin England were women and

secondary sources from various historical backgrounds. King James I was particularly

James blamed witchcraft on the incident involving his ship because he thought
witches were trying to kill him.4 King James was not only ruler of England, but
was also considered a scholar with published scholarly works. In 1597, he
published his written documents called Daemonologie. According to King James
the arguments for suspected witchcraft were, By knitting sundry kinds of herbs to
the hair or tails of the goods; by curing the worm, by stemming of blood, by healing
of horse crooks or doing of such like innumerable things by words, without applying
anything meet to the part offended, as mediciners do. 5 The King obviously
considered himself an expert on witchcraft and he believed that these activities were
the hallmarks of a witch whose mission was to harm others. Author Ankarloo writer
of Witchcraft and Magic in Europe, believes that the witch trials in Edinburgh
influenced heavily on King James when writing his work, and that God made him a
judge in witchcraft issues.6 These documents explain King James s fear of witches
and why he felt they should be eradicated from the earth was because of their bond
with Satan. The document is, in my opinion, a justification by James to gather
support for his witch hunt crusade. Reginald Scot, an Englishman born in 1538 had
been observing the witch trials that were common during
Human Reliability Analysis And The SWOT Analysis

analysis and the SWOT analysis in the context of the challenges posed by
surveillance technologies to the privacy of individuals. What this written response

better to employ in the context of surveillancetechnologies.
The strengths that the human reliability analysis technique has in identifying the

In doing this, the organisation would need to examine possible consequences to
either avoid or reduce the impact of a surveillance breach and recommend
safeguards and contingency plans to prevent errors or detect and correct them.
Analysts that use this technique can examine historical data on previous accidents
and near miss records in surveillance to find out what happened or what could go
wrong and establish if it is currently under better control. By also using a quantitative
assessment in this technique, analysts are able to estimate the likelihood of such
consequences occurring. What this analytical technique does not cover for
organisations in terms of surveillance technology is the consideration of the privacy
of individuals. The data analysts collect is strongly dependant on the assumptions
they make. Analysts must gather and make sure all credible errors are considered to
list all possible predictions. Lack of data can provide a limitation in quantitative
assessment if there is lack of data regarding the performance of surveillance
technology. This can also affect privacy to individuals if analysts do not take into
consideration of their

The And The Creative Industry Essay
Introduction
In today s era of regular internet downloads and the easy access to illegal films and
music, the creative industry has struggled, (BBC.co.uk, 2016). Due to this, money
has increased for live performances and cinema to try and ensure money is still
being made by the industry,(MakeUseOf, 2016). What are the other options for
platforms and how are they surviving? One method is the pay what you want model.
Pay what you want (or PWYW) is a payment model where buyers pay their desired
amount for a given product, sometimes for the price of zero. In some cases, a
minimum (floor) price may be set, and/or a suggested price may be indicated as
guidance for the buyer. The buyer can also select an amount higher than the standard
price for the artists work,(En.wikipedia.org, 2016). The Pay what you want payment
model is being used over numerous business platforms; from restaurants (Coldwell,
2016) to theatre companies (Gardner, 2016) are utilising the payment method.
In October 2007 Radiohead released their in rainbows album using the pay what you
want model. They gave their fans the freedom to pay whatever they wanted for their
album including ВЈ0, this was the first of its kind for a major act and it ended up
outselling its previous studio album,(En.wikipedia.org, 2016).
In this essay, I am going to look at two different platforms which are currently using
the PWYW payment model within the creative industry; Humble Bundle and
Bandcamp. I will outline what each
School Lunches In Schools
Eating healthy nutritious food is the simple and right solution to get rid of excess
body weight effortlessly and become slim and healthy forever. (Subodh Gupta) In
2010, the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act gave the federal government additional
authority to set standards for food sold in school grounds. This enforced schools to
require fruits and vegetables in their schoollunches every day. Although this act was
implemented, parents of students going to schools still contend that school lunches
are substandard and should be amended immediately. For the betterment of children,
school lunches should be enhanced due to the fact that it s excessively fattening, it
could hinder a child s thinking process in class, but it would be difficult to improve it.

In scientific research, it was discovered that children who eat school lunch have a
heightened chance of developing obesity. To add more, only 6% of schools monitor
the USDA guidelines for school lunches. This results in many schools essentially
having unhealthy school lunches that could enlarge the chances for obesity. As a
student, this prominently shocks me due to the fact the food that I consume practically
every day could affect my health. Although the percentage amongst chances of
obesity by school lunch and without school lunches are low, it still could affect us in
the future and may lead to a disease, Recent data shows that while an estimated 30.6
million US students eat school lunches, only 6% of school lunch programs meet the
nutritional requirements established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Drinking Water Is An Essential Basic Human Need Essay
What are life s basic essentials? Food, Water, and Shelter; that it the basic essential
needs that is taught to us all in primary school. In order for any humans to survive,
this is what is needed to sustain life. So that means if one of these essential life needs
is not available, the chances of survival are limited. Upon doing my research for this
assignment, the statistics that came up about unclean drinking waterwas perplexing.
For example, one in nine people worldwide do not have access to clean and safe
drinking water. The crippling water crisis that is going on worldwide is an issue
that many are unaware of, including me. How is it that in 2016 there are 1.1 billion
people without access to clean drinking water? (UNICEF Organization, 2015)
Water is an essential basic human need. Clean, safe drinking water is scarce and
there are millions of people around the world that spend a full day searching for the
resource. Worldwide access to clean, safe drinking water is a simple human right
and an essential step towards cultivating living standards worldwide. Yet, more than
one in nine people still lack dependable access to this valuable source. It is
estimated that every person needs 20 40 liters of clean, safe water for drinking,
cooking, and other factors that affect your health. (Editorials, 2010) The lack of
access to improved water affects those living in poor, developing regions; however,
even populations living in countries with exceptional water

family is notorious for adhering to. When Elisha says, What do we have to do with
each other? he is using the same expression in its original translation that is used in
2 Samuel 16:10 when King David rebukes Abishai. Considering the practices of the
ancient monarchy s power at the time, coupled with Joram s regnal formula in
verse two of doing evil, it would not be surprising if Joram would have assumed
the right to kill Elisha for his blatant apostasy. Elisha s condescending sneer of not
wanting to notice the king at all is so disrespectful that Josephus choses to omit
such an insulting remark in his Antiquities of the Jews 9.34. Elisha s temper was
enraged to the point that he needed a musician in order to restore him to a calm
enough state to be able to receive the word of God, similar to the way that the young
David would play for King Saul in order to sooth his spirit. Verse fifteen demonstrates

The NRSV translation uses the phrase this is a trifle. The original Hebrew for the

would find conflict in Elisha s prophecy when he says, You will cut down every
good tree. This violates the rules in Deuteronomy 20:19 that prohibit cutting down
fruit bearing trees. Theologian Joe Sprinkle justifies Elisha s prophecy as not being a
complete failure on the basis that Israel was being punished for disobeying these
laws. Deuteronomy 20:10 12 states that Israel is required to make an offer of peace

Effects Of Power Imbalances
Typically, the person with higher power dominates the other partner and has no
intent to change their behavior because they simply don t have to. Your partner
uses her higher power status to control you, your money, your friends, who you can
hang out with, how you dress, etc. Power imbalances can be positive for the
person of higher power but very negative for the person of lower power. The person
with lower power experiences much more negative emotions such as depression,
sadness, and defeat (Aldeis, 2017). According to Coker et al., power imbalances and
being controlled by another person are significantly associated with a higher risk of
negative mental and physical healthoutcomes for the person of lower power, if not

The Death Of Tennessee V Garner
Sidney Hildebrandt
Tennessee V Garner
On the night of October 3rd, 1974 at approximately 10:45 p.m. Edward Garner was
shot by Officer Hymon in an attempt to stop him from escaping a crime scene.
Garner died on the operating table due to the gunshot wound on the back of his
head. His crime was burglary and he was found with a mere ten dollars and a
purse. The case was argued on October 30th, 1984 and a decision was made on
March 27th, 1985. The father of Edward Garner believed his son s constitutional
rights were violated by the defendants Officer Hymon, the Police Department, and the
Mayor of the city of Memphis. With a 6 3 decision, the Justices decided that Officer
Hymon was acting justly under the fourth amendment that states that deadly force is
constitutional as long as it is reasonable . I believe Officer Hymon was acting in
good faith and simply fulfilling his duty to protect the public and stop criminals from
escaping punishment.
Edward Eugene Garner life ended in his eighth grade year at the young age of 15.He
stood at five feet four inches tall and weighed around one hundred pounds.1 The
father of Edward, Cleamtee Garner, brought the case into action by claiming that his
son s fourth, fifth, sixth, eighth and fourteenth amendments were violated.2 Officer
Elton Hymon, along with Leslie Wright received a prowler inside call . Once on the
scene, the two officers were informed that someone was breaking into the house next
door.Officer Hymon went to investigate
Friedrich Von s And The Revolutionary War
Friedrich Von Steuben
Friedrich Wilhelm August Heinrich Ferdinand Steuben, also known as Friedrich Von
Steuben or Baron Von Steuben, was born on September 17, 1730 in Magdeburg
Fortress. There were many individuals who were great historical figures during the
Revolutionary War. Friedrich Von Steuben was one of those influential figures. He
was famous for being a Prussian officer, writing the Revolutionary War Drill Manual,
and his dedication to training the Continental Army. Just as his father did, Friedrich
Von Steuben was a prussian officer when he was only 17 years old. Friedrich Von
Steuben s time as a prussian officer was very eventful. In the May of 1756 the
Seven Years War had began in Europe, and Von Steuben had become a second
lieutenant. Despite Baron Von Steuben being wounded and the Prussian Army
being outnumbered 2 to 1, the Prussian army still won the Battle of Prague. He
served as a principal staff officer and an adjutant to General Johann von Mayer
during a special detached corps in 1758. He was promoted to first lieutenant and
was wounded at the Battle of Kunersdorf in 1759. Baron Von Steuben served as a
staff officer in the position of a deputy quartermaster when he was transferred to
general headquarters. Soon after this he was taken as a prisoner when Major
General Von Knoblock surrendered at Treptow. After a year in prison he was released
and promoted to captain. His work was so credible he became an aide de camp to
Frederick the Great. After this
Analysis Of Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
Women have never been considered equal to men. They have not been since the
beginning and although we say they are now, many would probably disagree.
Charlotte BrontГ« was no exception to this rule she knew that society expected
women to fit into a specific category rather than be their own individuals and she
expressed her frustration towards this in Jane Eyre. Within this brief passage,
Charlotte BrontГ« elegantly employs symbolism, allusions, and diction in order to
assert Jane s determination to stay true to herself, despite the pressures exerted on her
by society.
To be honest, the amount of symbolism within the passage is actually quite minor
in comparison to the rest of the novel, where it can be found in scores. However,
the particular symbol BrontГ« uses is a part of her rather prevalent symbolic pair
of fire and ice. BrontГ« has the tendency to link Jane to these two elements, subtly
revealing the sharpness of the two contrasting boxes the world demands Jane to fit
herself in: religion and secularity. Society views religious women as cold and
devoted to labor, loving only towards God. On the other hand, more secular women
are viewed as wild and passionate, although they walk a thin line between madness
and sanity. To this end, examine the very example of the fire in Jane that the
passage provides: They have a worth so I have always believed; and if I cannot
believe it now, it is because I am insane quite insane: with my veins running fire, and
my heart beating
Celebrity Cruises Essay
The problem for Celebrity Cruises was clear in they needed to define a clear
positioning for its customers and figure out a way to keep the demand strong
maintain market share and focus on specific customers in their target market. This
meant Celebrity cruises had problems with their strategies and less importantly their
operations. Celebrity needed to figure out a way to retain customs with different
expectations within their target market whether or not they were initial cruisers,
seasonal cruisers or frequent cruisers.

Competitor Analysis Carnival Cruise s, Disney Cruises and Norwegian was the
only other clear competitors to RCL but in terms of subsidiaries Crystal Cruises
was the only direct rival in terms of size and scale and position in the industry but in
analyzing the demand increase from 1999 to 2001 a 16.7% increase in demand
showed that Celebrity cruises had to maintain their position as a luxury brand to
continue being a major player in the industry. The demand was strong and the
competition was average, as it relates to entries to market the cruise line industry
requires multiple stipulations and regulations required thus unless one of the major
players mentioned above acquired a smaller cruise line to increase in operations and
services Celebrity s position was relatively strategic and smart. The competitive
landscape was relatively small so quality improvement process should be the main
focus during this time, they already created the process needed to offer superior
service thus tweaks such as management training, career progression programs and
increases in standard of performance programs would set Celebrity s consistent

The Pros And Cons Of Ultrasound
Ultrasound has been used in obstetrics for over fifty years and is generally regarded
as being very safe for both mother and fetus. However, there is also some limited
research to suggest that ultrasound especially when combined with certain
influencing factors may in fact carry potential to harm the fetus. The character of
these potential risks range from relatively harmless effects to those that could result
in more serious negative outcomes. When considering the available data, the potential
for these adverse effects seems very low, but the rapid advancement of ultrasound
technology and protocol in recent decades makes it difficult to be sure of the true
consequences. Although ultrasound is generally considered to be safe, there is not
currently enough evidence to prove definitively that modern obstetric ultrasound does
not carry potential risks to the fetus, and so this technology should be used prudently
with efforts taken to minimize its potential risks.
First, it is important to understand exactly how ... Show more content on

One factor is dose, in other words, the output frequency of the probe; in general, it is
thought that higher frequency output carries more risk of causing thermal and
mechanical effects (1, 166). It follows then, that ultrasound modes that require a
higher output would also be considered a greater risk; for instance, Doppler requires
a much higher output than the more traditional B mode ultrasound (5, 625). A longer
duration of the exam has also been shown in animal models to have negative
biological effects on the fetus (5, 625) and cumulative effects of multiple ultrasounds
over the course of gestation may be an important component as well (1, 169). Finally,
gestational age must also be considered; it could be theorized that if any damaging
effects from ultrasound are possible, they could be incurred during the vulnerable
first trimester (5,
Photolithography Essay
Following exposure, a developer solution is utilized to remove regions that have
(positive resist) or have not (negative resist) been exposed, leaving the desired
pattern on the sample. At this point, it is possible to deposit a patterned layer of new
material on top of the sample, or to etch away exposed regions of the sample. Both
cases are followed by removal of remaining resist, usually through use of 1 Methyl 2
pyrrolidone (NMP) solvent. Typically, a sample will undergo multiple cycles of
photolithographic processing, complex integrated circuits typically require samples
to undergo photolithographic processing up to 50 times throughout the duration of
the entire fabrication process. Without photolithographic processing, fabrication...

Micromolding in capillaries (MIMIC) and template assisted spin coating are two
such methods. Micromolding in capillaries is capable of producing line or stripe
like patterns in perovskite films.43 When solvated precursors are applied to a
substrate with a capillary containing mold on top, the solutions wick through the
mold under the influence of capillary action. Upon removal of solvent(s) and mold,
the resulting perovskite film will retain the straight line pattern design of the mold.
This process results in comb like features, with regions of patterned perovskite
stripes, separated by void areas where no perovskite is present. Stripes are
connected to each other by a section of uniform perovskite film, where no mold was
present during film growth. A relatively straight forward method for patterning
perovskites, MIMIC is largely limited to simple line geometries. Template assisted
spin coating is a similarly easy patterning technique, and, as such, has limitations in
the associated geometries which it can produce. A recent effort shows the ability to
create an inverse opal (IO) structure in perovskite films through template assisted spin
coating.44 In this procedure, a monolayer of polystyrene microspheres was placed on
top of the substrate during spin coating of precursor solutions. Following perovskite
film growth, the polystyrene

George Washington
The soldier s time to serve would be up in just ten days, the British continued to win
battles, all hope of winning the war was fading and everyone was ready to put down
their weapons and surrender to Great Britain. However, George Washington was not
settling with anything less than trying their best. He kept that little flicker of hope
that was still left, alive. The Continental Congress did not see much hope in the war
either and turned the responsibility of the war to General George Washington.
Washington received a message from Congress saying,
Full power to direct all things relative... to the operations of war. (Dupuy 63 64).

Ewing was supposed to cross with his group of about one thousand men down
south while General Caldwalader was supposed to cross at Bristol with two

succeeded and caught the Hessians by surprise. The battle did not last long and
Washington and his men came out with a victory. They captured nine hundred
eighteen Hessians and killed approximately one hundred while the Patriots only
had 5 casualties (Murphy). The Battle of Trenton persuaded men to reenlist so
Washington would still have an army in the new year. Washington planned on
surprising the British in Princeton, but decided to wait considering Ewing and
Caldwalader never made it across the river. A week later, on January 3, 1777
Washington recrossed the Delaware River with his troop into Princeton. The battle
lasted less than an hour, but around one hundred British men were killed or
wounded and they captured two hundred. The Americans only suffered forty
casualties (Dupuy 83 84). These two wins boosted the patriot s morale and helped
Washington rise back to the top as a military commander (Murphy). These two
victories also convinced America that the war was not over yet, there was still hope.
Overall winning these battles created a spark of hope and a wave of electricity. There

Child Poverty
In the United States, child poverty has been a severe issue even when the country
was established. When looking at the statistics of child poverty from the past, it is
clear that there was an increasing number of families and children living in poverty.
This trend dates back to the year 2000 when 11.6 million people were living in
poverty. In 2007, the number of individuals suffering from poverty rose to 13.4
million, (Arrighi Maume, 2007). This is due to the massive economic fallout, also
known as the Great Recession. The United States lost over 7.5 million jobs and the
unemployment rate doubled, which directly impacted parents and their children,
(Grusky etc., 2011). This crisis resulted in leaving many Americans financially
insecure. Even though many of the financially stable individuals suffered a great
loss, they were able to utilize their resources to navigate through the calamity and
recover whereas those who were poor faced an economic issue with greater impact.
They were faced with foreclosures, bankruptcies and mortgage felonies. Most
importantly, the lives of the young children were negatively impacted as well. The
four areas that the children were affected by from the Great Recession were: health,
hunger, housing, abuse and neglect, (Wiltz 2015). In several households, there was at
least one member that suffered from malnourishment because of the inadequate food
supply for the family. On the other hand, numerous children were left to be homeless

easiest, for a company, to read emails sent via its server. If a password allow a limited

It is, as well, really simple for a firm to check your internet surfing provided your
company has a firewall and a checking access tool (which is the case for 95% of
companies). Your employer is able to check what site you visited, how much time

But what are the firm s main reasons for such a supervision of emails and internet ?
In fact, main concerns are the following :
access to pornographic material
time spent without working
sexual harasment

Those concerns are partly justified, because an employee s defective attitude with
respect to the above mentioned, could lead to a legal liability for the company.

Diabetic Macular Edema
Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease that can cause damage to many end organs,
including the eye if it is not controlled.1 Diabetic macular edema is one of the many
complications that can occur from Diabetes Mellitus. It defined as swelling or
thickening of the eye s macula, which results from blood vessels in the retina leaking
fluids.2 The retina and macula work together to allow for sharp central vision.1
When individuals with Diabetes Mellitushave poorly controlled hyperglycemia, the
bloodvessels in the eye are weakened and can leak fluid.1 As a result, fluid is able to
permeate into the retina and macula making these areas swell, which ultimately
results in loss of vision.1 A consequence of diabetic macular edema involves the

Developing countries are adversely affected by globalization, especially in economy
area. Globalization is a process which the world interconnection keeps increasing
so it is possible to trade or exchange cultures conveniently. In the past, it was
anticipated to develop a whole of countries economy or technology and solve some
environmental issues such as air pollution or global warming. Unfortunately, until
these days, the result of globalization does not reach 50% of economists
expectation. The major reason of the evaluation is in spite of the fact that it
provides advantages, globalization increase the gap between rich and poor. One of
the biggest victims is developing countries. They suffer a great loss from the
drawbacks of globalization. These are excessive outflows of brain and money,
excessive competition in the world market, and Increase of economic polarization.
First of all, a lot of people and money dwindle away in developing countries. This
problem is appeared by people who are planning to study abroad or emigrate. Through
the Internet, people can share other s life. By comparing one another, some low
income countries citizens can make a plan to seek employment or learning in other

Information Systems And Data Security
Introduction
Information systems and data security to organization has in the recent years
increased drastically. A computer can be illustrated as a device that is mainly use to
process data into information which is useful to the user. The expert who deal with
Information and technology related safety measures are resourceful when it comes to
the process of information system and data protection. This will ensure that the data
which belongs to companies remain confidential and inaccessible to unauthorized

Dangers
Computer system risks arrive in an extensive variety of structures. Presumably the
most surely understood dangers today are modifying ambushes, theft of authorized
development, information misrepresentation, thievery of apparatus or information,
damage, and information intimidation. A considerable number individuals have
experienced programming assaults or the like. Contaminations, worms, phishing
assaults, and Trojan steeds are two or three typical instances of programming
assaults. The thievery of ensured development has moreover been an expansive
issue for a few associations in the IT field. Authorized advancement is the obligation
regarding the most part including some protection. Theft of writing computer
programs is likely the most broadly perceived in IT associations today. Wholesale
extortion is the try to go about as someone else usually to get that individual s near

In addition, we will explore the context in which the members of the group
communicate with their intended audience using mass communication. The last
part will try to examine the recent changes in the comic book world in regard to
giving the traditional male superhero role to a female lead and what changes might
it bring forth by breaking some of the female gender stereotypes and norms. The
context in which the communication occurred between the individuals in the
podcast can be classified as small group communication. Tubbs defines small group
communication as the process by which there is three or more members of a group
exchange verbal and non verbal messages in an attempt to influence each other
(Tubbs, 2016, p.19). Verbal messages are any type of spoken communication that
uses one or more words (Tubbs, 2016, p.11) whereas nonverbal messages are
messages we transmit without words or over and above the worlds we use (Tubbs,
2016, p.12). In this evaluation of communication that occurs in the podcast, we can
clearly identify both types of messages being used to transmit meaning. An example
of a verbal message in this context would be Bruce telling Lawrence directly how
much he thinks
Orbital Atherectomy
There are many new technologies and advancements within the cardiovascular
community. These technologies and advancements happen frequently and are to help
better the equipment for better outcomes for patients treated. One of the new
technologies that has made great strides is the orbital atherectomy. Orbital
atherectomy is a technology created by a company called Cardiovascular Systems
Inc. (CSI). What the new device does is make it easier and safer for balloon and
stent administration within a heavily calcified vessel. The ORBIT is a new
instrument used during a catheterization procedure that can break up calcified plaque.

The speed and energy formed from this device grinds and demolishes the calcium
1,2 in the walls of the artery. Heavily calcified vessels come from and are
associated with coronary artery disease which affects more people than people
expect. When a patient comes into the lab to get their coronary arteries checked
due to symptoms that prevented them from continuing out daily life activities
sometimes the result can be detrimental. All of the major arteries within the heart
can be heavily calcified and diseased. Most of the time these patients are sent for
bypass surgery or receive a high risk intervention. Due to orbital atherectomy or
CSI, the patients now can be helped immensely. The device will grind away at the
plaque using a diamond tip converting them into tiny particles that are smaller
2than a red blood cell. This not only helps eliminate the amount of calcium and
plaque within the artery, but also helps the doctor be able to slide a balloon or
stent in more easily. Ballooning the calcium or plaque can help open up the vessel
to slide a stent, but it is not always recommended due to risk of dissection.
Rotational atherectomy will work more efficiently in reducing the vessels diameter
to help 3move a balloon and stent in place. Research done on the efficacy in treating
coronary lesions using the orbital atherectomy has been shown to improve stent
placement and has a success 4rate of 97.7 to 98.6 % . Overall, the research showed
that the Orbital has meet and exceeded both the safety and efficacy of calcified
plaque removal. This number represents a high success rate of intervention or
stenting post orbital atherectomy. This means that it is scientifically proven that
orbital atherectomy works to lessen the diameter of the vessel due to calcium to help
for a better and more efficient stent

CARIBBEAN POLITICS and SOCIETY
Caribbean Integration
Rationale for Integration.
The Caribbean remains fragmented both economically and politically as a result of
competition and conflict among the European powers. Fragmentation is in part the
product of a long history as separate colonies of a metropolitan power or powers. It is
also in part the psychological effects on people of separation by sea.
The case for regional integration is both simple and irrefutable. First we are small
and we need to achieve economies of scale. We need to achieve such economies in
markets, production, the mobilisation of regional capital for regional use, university
education, science and technology, sea and air transport to mention some areas.

In spite of our achievements in many fields of endeavour, we still have a strong sense

Similarities Between Bergman And Ingmar Bergman
Ingmar Bergman. Ingmar Bergman s films commonly deal with his doubts about the
existence of God, earning him the sobriquet the protestant atheist . His religious
interests came from his childhood. His father, Erik, was a Lutheran pastor of the old
school. Although the two never had a close relationship, Ingmar would often travel
with his father to country parishes, where he listened to the sermons and hymns and
studied the icons and architecture to pass the time during services that seemed
interminable to a restless young boy. His relationship with his mother Karin wasn t
any more nurturing and Ingmar grew up in a lonely house. He found solace in Puppet
Theater and projections. Throughout his long film career Bergman continued to deal

both are variations on the questions that constitute the majority of comprehensive
themes in Bergman s work. In both films the protagonist must face the truth about his
past and present. This is achieved here through what Carl Jung called The Night Sea
Journey . A journey into the individuals own subconscious. Dreams and
hallucinations are the most accessible mediums of this type of psychic trip; the
proximity of death as in Wild Strawberries and The Seventh Seal can provide a
catalyst for such a journey. Bergman has an ability to convince an audience that the
dream sequence projected on the screen, while inherently artificial is believable. It is
through these dream sequences that Bergman s symbolism becomes enigmatic,
probing the recesses of the individuals psyche and the complexities of human
relationships that could not otherwise be explained
Othello s Influence On The World Of Opera
Verdi s Othello has had a profound influence on the world of opera, and considered
by many critics to be his best work. Othello has been performed throughout the
world, debuting in over 25 countries within the first fifty years of its creation
(Stanford). It has been performed all over the globe by world renowned operettists,
in theatres such as the Lincoln Center in New York, the Sydney OperaHouse in
Sydney, and the Bolshoi in Russia. Othellois about a general who is led to believe his
wife is cheating on him, when in reality she is not, and deceived by Iago, a man he
trusted. Othello has two love duets between the same characters, but with very
different moods and relationships, which are portrayed through the dialogue, the
stage actions, and most importantly the musical strategies employed.
The opera Othello was written by Verdi, one of the most prominent opera writers in
the late 1800 s. He was born in 1813 in northern Italy, however, most of his work
took place in Milan, Italy. This is where, on February 5th of 1887, Othello was first
performed, at the Teatro alla Scala (Stanford). Verdi s opera Othello is based off of
Shakespeare s play Othello, which was written in 1622. Verdi based many of his
operas off of Shakespeare s plays, such as his opera ВВMacbeth that was based on
the play Macbeth, first performed in 1847, and his opera Falstaff, based on the play
The Merry Wives of Windsor, first performed in 1893. In Othello, a black Moor
general has just returned from a
The Thought And Follow Of Change Management
2.0 LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Introduction
The aim of this study is to look at the thought and follow of change management in
SMEs and to appear at the criticalness given to the correspondence as a change
management tool in these associations. To attain this purpose, the researcher
critically reviewed the relevant pedantic literature on the topic. The section displays
that literature review that supported the research in theoretical and hypothetical
understanding of the subject alongside setting the heading of the study in accordance
with the course gave inside the past studies.
2.2 Change Management
2.2.1 Change management definition and background.
There is no universally acknowledged meaning of change management. Nickols
(2010) claimed that each one the definitions of change management may be classified
into four perspectives especially change management as undertaking of overseeing
alteration, as a zone of talented follow, as an assemblage of information and as a
bearing mechanism.
Lorenzi (2005) delineated change management as the technique by that an association
achieves its future state the vision. Although he utilised the expression process for
change management, the principle focus of his definition is on the methodology to
this strategy. He affirmed that before actualising a change one needs to have a dream
for change and ought to impart this vision to individuals inside the associations to
make them serve as change operators. Mackezie Robb (2004)
Utopia by Thomas More and The Prince by Machiavelli
Essay
Utopia by Thomas More and The Prince by Machiavelli
Thomas More s Utopia and Machiavelli s The Prince both concern themselves with
the
fundamental issues of how a society works and maintains itself. The goals behind the
two works,
however, differ considerably. The goal of Utopiais to illustrate the maintenance of an
ideal
society and the goal of The Prince is to instruct a prince, or ruler, on how to maintain
his state.
On the surface these two goals may seem similar but the difference lies in the way the
authors
handle the subject of power. As a manual, or handbook if you will, Prince treats
power as a
necessity, a goal, to be worked towards and maintained, almost at all costs. Utopia, a
fantasy,
treats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One might even say that
the people are empowered, but the ideals that truly run the society, are empowered.
More s true
focus does not even lie in power, but in the seeking of ideals.
A second comparison that one could make is that the types of governments also have
inherent qualities within them concerning power. In the Prince, the government is
either a
theoretical monarchy or dictatorship. Mach focuses on the manipulation of the people
to main
tain power. The minor details do not matter. The importance lies in the fact that in a
monarchy
or dictatorship one person has the power in a society and all the rest serve only to
obey him.
Starkly different is More s creation. His society is a true communist one and it could
also be
argued that it is also a democracy. Leaders are elected by the people, who make their
own
decisions freely. Nothing, not even power, is owned in that society by an individual.
The power
is distributed, thus empowerment. The capitalism of Machiavelli s world, the idea
that the ends
justify the means strongly ties in with this contrast.
That idea stated above correlates with the next point. In an idealistic society whose
goals
are justice and truth, it is impossible for one s goal to be power. More s idealistic
attitude and
Mach s lack of one are both indicators of how they view
Analysis Of Disney s Snow White And The Seven Dwarves

German 386: Fairy Tales
Friday section 11 12
Changing With the Times
Disney s depiction of women has evolved endlessly to embody popular archetypes of
femininity and to captivate each new generation. As the times have changed, so has
the corporation. There have been numerous transformations in the characteristics of
the heroines, their lives, behavior, ambitions and aspirations. Snow White and the
Seven Dwarves, The Little Mermaid, Mulan and Frozen all depict a different type of
women that Disney has portrayed in their motion pictures. Through the progression of
Disney s film productions within the last 100 years, the corporation has significantly
altered its portrayal of women from incompetent damsels in distress to strong willed,
independent heroines.
In Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Disney s first full length animated movie that
was released in 1939, the protagonist is a young woman depicted as a naГЇve,
dependent, stereotypical housewife. Women were seen as caretakers that managed
the traditional household chores of cooking meals and overseeing the upkeep of the
house. This is exemplified in the film, as those were the conditions set by the
dwarves in order for Snow White to obtain shelter and protection. Snow White s
tendencies and actions mirrored the societal views of women in the 20th century.
Women were perceived to be innocent and unsuspecting. Snow White was oblivious
to the evil stepmother who managed to dress up as two
Figurative Language In The Poisonwood Bible
The way that you develop and discover yourself and your personal attributes is
largely impacted by the environment you grow up in, as shown in The Poisonwood
Bible. Each member of the Price family reacts differently to their being thrown into
a completely new location, culture, and livelihood; the maturation path of each
child varies drastically from the others, and their exposure to the Congo impacts
each of them in a different way, which we observe through each character s
language and behavior in the book. The stylistic formatting, tone, and figurative
language used in Leah Price s narratives in The Poisonwood Bible change as she
grows, and the maturation of her physical structure and overall mentality correlate to
her development in language throughout the story. Leah enters the Congo as a
religious, rule following adolescent from the suburbs of Bethlehem, Georgia, but as
time passes and she becomes accustomed to the land, Leah begins to develop in
ways that were once unforeseen by her and her family. When Leah arrives in Africa,
she is oblivious to the completely different world she is entering. She attempts to
help her father with his work, yearning for his attention and recognition, but does not
understand the foreign environment and culture she is engulfed by; her father, too
preoccupied with his work and too set in his misogynist ways, does not listen to his
daughter or even regard her positively. However, Leah is utterly dedicated to her
father, saying I know
Gomez And Catullus
Although the thought of repeating history is often followed by a negative
connotation, a lot of the things people do today are similar to the things people did
long ago. A lot of the movies made in the 21st century are just remakes of movies
made in the 19th and 20th century. Similarly, a lot of our music today is similar to
poems and lyrics from long ago. Although Selena Gomez, a 21st century pop artist,
and Catullus, a 54 B.C famous love poet, are separated by hundreds of years, their
art is very similar. It ain t me was one of Gomez s biggest hits in 2017. Having
multiple authors, including Gomez, It ain t me follows a nostalgic tone with the
narrative of heart breaking pastrelationship. Catullus VIII is one of Catullus s many
poems to the mysterious Lesbia ; however, unlike Catullus V , Catullus VIII is the
chapter in which their love story turns into a hostile one. In their work, both Gomez
and Catullus remember, question, and despise their love story.... Show more content

Gomez mentions that she had a dream of her and her lover sipping whiskey neat [on

and the girl was not not wanting (fulsere... soles, Ibi... nolebat). Although toxic,
Gomez and Catullus both latch onto what they think are good memories from the time
with their lovers. Both of them can t seem to grasp onto the reality that their time
with the people they once loved, and maybe still do, is
America In Cambodia
Research Paper: America in Cambodia The international affairs and the involvement
of America during the Vietnam War was one of the greatest involvements in
American history. Not only was America involved with Vietnamese affairs, but the
U.S. was also involved in Cambodian affairs as well. The historical relevance of
Cambodiais often overlooked when discussing the war as a whole. The events in
Cambodia were events marked in history as side effects of the Vietnam War;
however, Cambodia is more that just a side effect of the war. The secret bombings,
the great Pol Pot genocide, the killing fields and the strict communist society that
developed should not be marked as a mere side effect of Vietnam War history. The
documentation and the reportings... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But in the following year, the secret bombings were exposed to the public, which
brought controversy in America (William et al. 287). Some viewed Nixon s actions
as a ...Violation of international law (Williams et al. 287). Nixon had illegally
bombed a neutral country, without the consent of the Cambodian government or the
consent of Congress; therefore, making Nixon s actions unacceptable to most of the
American public. However, these actions should have been deemed as acceptable
according to Nixon s Administration because: The President was acting under his
Constitutional authority as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces to assure the
security of the troops under his command, and also under his Constitutional
authority as Chief Executive for the conduct of foreign affairs (Williams et al. 287).
The Administration argued that Nixon had the right to do as he did for the good of
the American troops, as well as for the good of the Cambodian people (Williams et
al. 287). But in actuality, the bombings were perhaps one of the greatest factors
leading to the rise of one of the worst communist groups in history, the Khmer Rouge.
... The almost constant thunder of the American bombing, which the population has
become injured to, has been joined by the sound of small arms fire along the city s
perimeter and, on one occasion, rockets and

Essay On Magnetic Field Summer of 2017 saw UT Southwestern Medical Center make considerable strides in biotech with the development of high frequency alternating magnetic fields to destroy bacterial films on the surfaces of artificial joints in the body simply by heating the joints themselves. These bacterial infections tend to be of great detriment to patients, and they prove impeccably resilient to antibiotics. Since then, that same research has been furthered to prove itself on human test subjects. Now, the U.S. Energy Department illustrates the ability to see bacterial cells magnetic fields via electron microscopy, which marks a milestone both for microscopy and for scientific rendering of magnetic nano objects in liquid and bacterial cell magnetic fields... When we look at samples prepared in the conventional way, we have to make many assumptions about their properties based on their final state, but with the new technique, we can now observe these processes first hand, Prozorov explains. It can help us understand the dynamics of macromolecule aggregation, nanoparticle self assembly, and the effects of electric and magnetic fields on that process. This bears significant implications for biotechnological applications, especially in light of recent research regarding the use of magnetic heating to eradicate bacteria from surfaces within the human body. People get metal parts implanted all the time to compensate for injuries or very old body parts. These pieces range from metal plates to pins to artificial joints, but they all serve relatively similar purposes holding bones together. The problem that comes from this from time to time is that bacteria inside a patient s body eventually find these metal surfaces and seek refuge on or in them. Ordinarily, physicians recommend surgery to get rid of those bacteria, but new research suggests that surgery may no longer be necessary; rather, it may be possible to get the same result with the non invasive alternative of magnetic heating. These bacteria can be very difficult to remove because they form biofilms thin sheets that form a viscous, protective membrane of sorts like plaque on enamel. Even though this only happens to

Many photographers have different styles just like painters or writers do. Some are more similar to each other, while others stand out more from the crowd and like to stretch the boundaries. These styles usually act as a foundation for a new style of photography. One of the most influential and famous photographers of the 20th century was Richard Avedon. Richard Avedon was a fashion photographer who changed photography forever. Richard Avedon was born on May 15, 1923 in New York City. He was born to Anna Avedon and Jacob Israel. One thing that really separates Avedon from other fashion photographers is that in his pictures he made sure his models were conveying emotion and movement rather than the typical fashion picture where the model is bland and motionless. He would at times evoke reactions from his portrait subjects by guiding them into uncomfortable areas of discussion or asking them psychologically probing questions. Through these means he would produce images revealing aspects of his subject s character and personality that were not typically captured by others. (2) Avedon s style usually conveyed a figure looking squarely at the camera rather than at the person. The figure is usually stationed in front of a white background. This meant soft light and props were eliminated allowing the focus of the picture to be solely on the person. The final images would usually be bordered by the film outline and would generally only show a portion of the figure. Most photographers can only take pictures that either captured a moment in time or a formal image, not both. Avedon, however, was capable of doing

However, the tipping point came after the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982, that same year Hezbollah was formed with the help of Iran; ideologies stemming from the ones displayed during the Iranian Revolution (Masters and Laub, 2014). The civil war was the catalyst that nurtured Hezbollah enough so that their influence would transform form just a thorn on the Lebanese government side to a political party having their own seat at the table (Wiegand, 2009). The United Nation created a distinction between their political and military factions, which allowed them to avoid the United Nation s terrorist list and similarly, the British government only blacklisted their military wing (Badran, 2009). However, Hezbollah s leadership remained adamant that no such distinction exist between the two that they operate congruently (Badran, 2009). There are many steps used when initiating a hypothesis test. First and foremost it is vital to specify the null and alternative hypothesis, next we have to determine a significance level that is tolerable such as 0.05 which is your tolerance for error, and last we have to calculate the statistic that is comparable to the parameters set by the null hypothesis. • 10. Diphtheria In The Use Of Force By William Carlos Williams In William Carlos Williams The Use of Force, a doctor visits a patient who is at fatal risk of diphtheria. This narration is told in first person in the perspective of the doctor as a reflection on his visit. The story is allegorical for impulsivity and self control. From the moment he arrives on scene, it becomes evident that the visit will be out of the ordinary, to say the least. Due to lack of cooperation from the young girl he tends to and the inability to control his mind, body, or temper, the benign check up turns into a haphazard battle between man and girl. Williams contrasts the two characters through animalistic description, symbolism, and diction. Mathilda s resistance to the doctortriggers an emotional response inside of him and ultimately leads him to harm her. Williams demonstrates how easily humans revert to a primitive state when encountered with conflict; the doctors embodies a predator and Mathilda represents prey. Mathilda s behavior mischaracterizes her for she acts immaturely, beyond her age. Despite her actions, she is aware of her surroundings. At her school, there have been outbreaks of diphtheria. Naturally, her parents seek to insure their daughter s health so they call a doctor to their home. These devices are connected using communication channels. A communication channel is assigned to a medium used to transport information from one network device to another, such as wired channels and wireless channels (Parsons, 2016). A primary system is made up of at least two computing devices either wired or wireless points of connection; these points are network ports. There are usually one network hub or network switch that permits their interconnection. The most standard wired computer networks are known as Ethernet. This is made up of UTP (unshielded twisted pair) cables, and just about all personal computers have a UTP Ethernet Network port as standard. The printer also comes with an Ethernet port, making it easily shared amongst the user of a network. Other wired channels are coaxial cable used for cable T.V, Category 6 cables used for LANs, and fiber optic cables used for high capacity trunk lines. Your partner uses her higher power status to control you, your money, your friends, who you can hang out with, how you dress, etc. Power imbalances can be positive for the person of higher power but very negative for the person of lower power. The person with lower power experiences much more negative emotions such as depression, sadness, and defeat (Aldeis, 2017). According to Coker et al., power imbalances and being controlled by another person are significantly associated with a higher risk of negative mental and physical healthoutcomes for the person of lower power, if not addressed properly

The Death Of Tennessee V Garner Sidney Hildebrandt Tennessee V Garner On the night of October 3rd, 1974 at approximately 10:45 p.m. Edward Garner was shot by Officer Hymon in an attempt to stop him from escaping a crime scene. Friedrich Von s And The Revolutionary War Friedrich Von Steuben Friedrich Wilhelm August Heinrich Ferdinand Steuben, also known as Friedrich Von Steuben or Baron Von Steuben, was born on September 17, 1730 in Magdeburg Fortress. There were many individuals who were great historical figures during the Revolutionary War. Friedrich Von Steuben was one of those influential figures. He was famous for being a Prussian officer, writing the Revolutionary War Drill Manual, and his dedication to training the Continental Army. Just as his father did, Friedrich Von Steuben was a prussian officer when he was only 17 years old. Friedrich Von Steuben s time as a prussian officer was very eventful. In the May of 1756 the Seven Years War had began in Europe, and Von Steuben had become a second lieutenant. Despite Baron Von Steuben being wounded and the Prussian Army being outnumbered 2 to 1, the Prussian army still won the Battle of Prague. He served as a principal staff officer and an adjutant to General Johann von Mayer during a special detached corps in 1758. He was promoted to first lieutenant and was wounded at the Battle of Kunersdorf in 1759. Baron Von Steuben served as a staff officer in the position of a deputy quartermaster when he was transferred to general headquarters. Soon after this he was taken as a prisoner when Major General Von Knoblock surrendered at Treptow. After a year in prison he was released and promoted to captain. His work was so credible he became an aide de camp to Frederick the Great. After this
  • 25. Analysis Of Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre Women have never been considered equal to men. They have not been since the beginning and although we say they are now, many would probably disagree. Charlotte BrontГ« was no exception to this rule she knew that society expected women to fit into a specific category rather than be their own individuals and she expressed her frustration towards this in Jane Eyre. Within this brief passage, Charlotte BrontГ« elegantly employs symbolism, allusions, and diction in order to assert Jane s determination to stay true to herself, despite the pressures exerted on her by society. To be honest, the amount of symbolism within the passage is actually quite minor in comparison to the rest of the novel, where it can be found in scores. However, the particular symbol BrontГ« uses is a part of her rather prevalent symbolic pair of fire and ice. BrontГ« has the tendency to link Jane to these two elements, subtly revealing the sharpness of the two contrasting boxes the world demands Jane to fit herself in: religion and secularity. Society views religious women as cold and devoted to labor, loving only towards God. On the other hand, more secular women are viewed as wild and passionate, although they walk a thin line between madness and sanity. To this end, examine the very example of the fire in Jane that the passage provides: They have a worth so I have always believed; and if I cannot believe it now, it is because I am insane quite insane: with my veins running fire, and my heart beating

The demand was strong and the competition was average, as it relates to entries to market the cruise line industry requires multiple stipulations and regulations required thus unless one of the major players mentioned above acquired a smaller cruise line to increase in operations and services Celebrity s position was relatively strategic and smart. The competitive landscape was relatively small so quality improvement process should be the main focus during this time, they already created the process needed to offer superior service thus tweaks such as management training, career progression programs and increases in standard of performance programs would set Celebrity s consistent quality assurance position in the industry to better

However, there is also some limited research to suggest that ultrasound especially when combined with certain influencing factors may in fact carry potential to harm the fetus. The character of these potential risks range from relatively harmless effects to those that could result in more serious negative outcomes. When considering the available data, the potential for these adverse effects seems very low, but the rapid advancement of ultrasound technology and protocol in recent decades makes it difficult to be sure of the true consequences. Although ultrasound is generally considered to be safe, there is not currently enough evidence to prove definitively that modern obstetric ultrasound does not carry potential risks to the fetus, and so this technology should be used prudently with efforts taken to minimize its potential risks. A longer duration of the exam has also been shown in animal models to have negative biological effects on the fetus (5, 625) and cumulative effects of multiple ultrasounds over the course of gestation may be an important component as well (1, 169). Finally, gestational age must also be considered; it could be theorized that if any damaging effects from ultrasound are possible, they could be incurred during the vulnerable first trimester (5,

Photolithography Essay Following exposure, a developer solution is utilized to remove regions that have (positive resist) or have not (negative resist) been exposed, leaving the desired pattern on the sample. At this point, it is possible to deposit a patterned layer of new material on top of the sample, or to etch away exposed regions of the sample. Both cases are followed by removal of remaining resist, usually through use of 1 Methyl 2 pyrrolidone (NMP) solvent. Micromolding in capillaries is capable of producing line or stripe like patterns in perovskite films.43 When solvated precursors are applied to a substrate with a capillary containing mold on top, the solutions wick through the mold under the influence of capillary action. Upon removal of solvent(s) and mold, the resulting perovskite film will retain the straight line pattern design of the mold. This process results in comb like features, with regions of patterned perovskite stripes, separated by void areas where no perovskite is present. Stripes are connected to each other by a section of uniform perovskite film, where no mold was present during film growth. A relatively straight forward method for patterning perovskites, MIMIC is largely limited to simple line geometries. Template assisted spin coating is a similarly easy patterning technique, and, as such, has limitations in the associated geometries which it can produce. A recent effort shows the ability to create an inverse opal (IO) structure in perovskite films through template assisted spin coating.44 In this procedure, a monolayer of polystyrene microspheres was placed on top of the substrate during spin coating of precursor solutions. Following perovskite film growth, the polystyrene

The speed and energy formed from this device grinds and demolishes the calcium 1,2 in the walls of the artery. Heavily calcified vessels come from and are associated with coronary artery disease which affects more people than people expect. When a patient comes into the lab to get their coronary arteries checked due to symptoms that prevented them from continuing out daily life activities sometimes the result can be detrimental. All of the major arteries within the heart can be heavily calcified and diseased. Most of the time these patients are sent for bypass surgery or receive a high risk intervention. Due to orbital atherectomy or CSI, the patients now can be helped immensely. The device will grind away at the plaque using a diamond tip converting them into tiny particles that are smaller 2than a red blood cell. This not only helps eliminate the amount of calcium and plaque within the artery, but also helps the doctor be able to slide a balloon or stent in more easily. Ballooning the calcium or plaque can help open up the vessel to slide a stent, but it is not always recommended due to risk of dissection. Rotational atherectomy will work more efficiently in reducing the vessels diameter to help 3move a balloon and stent in place. Research done on the efficacy in treating coronary lesions using the orbital atherectomy has been shown to improve stent placement and has a success 4rate of 97.7 to 98.6 % . Overall, the research showed that the Orbital has meet and exceeded both the safety and efficacy of calcified plaque removal. This number represents a high success rate of intervention or stenting post orbital atherectomy. This means that it is scientifically proven that orbital atherectomy works to lessen the diameter of the vessel due to calcium to help for a better and more efficient stent

Unlike The Seventh Seal, the religious element in Wild Strawberries is minor even though both are variations on the questions that constitute the majority of comprehensive themes in Bergman s work. In both films the protagonist must face the truth about his past and present. This is achieved here through what Carl Jung called The Night Sea Journey . A journey into the individuals own subconscious. Dreams and hallucinations are the most accessible mediums of this type of psychic trip; the proximity of death as in Wild Strawberries and The Seventh Seal can provide a catalyst for such a journey. • 43. Utopia by Thomas More and The Prince by Machiavelli Essay Utopia by Thomas More and The Prince by Machiavelli Thomas More s Utopia and Machiavelli s The Prince both concern themselves with the fundamental issues of how a society works and maintains itself. The goals behind the two works, however, differ considerably. The goal of Utopiais to illustrate the maintenance of an ideal society and the goal of The Prince is to instruct a prince, or ruler, on how to maintain his state. On the surface these two goals may seem similar but the difference lies in the way the authors handle the subject of power. As a manual, or handbook if you will, Prince treats power as a necessity, a goal, to be worked towards and maintained, almost at all costs. Utopia, a fantasy, treats ... More s true focus does not even lie in power, but in the seeking of ideals. A second comparison that one could make is that the types of governments also have inherent qualities within them concerning power. In the Prince, the government is either a theoretical monarchy or dictatorship. Mach focuses on the manipulation of the people to main tain power. The minor details do not matter. The importance lies in the fact that in a monarchy

His society is a true communist one and it could also be argued that it is also a democracy. Leaders are elected by the people, who make their own decisions freely. Nothing, not even power, is owned in that society by an individual. The power is distributed, thus empowerment. The capitalism of Machiavelli s world, the idea that the ends justify the means strongly ties in with this contrast. That idea stated above correlates with the next point. In an idealistic society whose goals are justice and truth, it is impossible for one s goal to be power. More s idealistic attitude and Mach s lack of one are both indicators of how they view

Analysis Of Disney s Snow White And The Seven Dwarves Courtney Congdon Ccongdon German 386: Fairy Tales Friday section 11 12 Changing With the Times Disney s depiction of women has evolved endlessly to embody popular archetypes of femininity and to captivate each new generation. As the times have changed, so has the corporation. There have been numerous transformations in the characteristics of the heroines, their lives, behavior, ambitions and aspirations. Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, The Little Mermaid, Mulan and Frozen all depict a different type of women that Disney has portrayed in their motion pictures. Through the progression of Disney s film productions within the last 100 years, the corporation has significantly altered its portrayal of women from incompetent damsels in distress to strong willed, independent heroines. In Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Disney s first full length animated movie that was released in 1939, the protagonist is a young woman depicted as a naГЇve, dependent, stereotypical housewife. Women were seen as caretakers that managed the traditional household chores of cooking meals and overseeing the upkeep of the house. This is exemplified in the film, as those were the conditions set by the dwarves in order for Snow White to obtain shelter and protection. Snow White s tendencies and actions mirrored the societal views of women in the 20th century. Women were perceived to be innocent and unsuspecting. Snow White was oblivious to the evil stepmother who managed to dress up as two

Figurative Language In The Poisonwood Bible The way that you develop and discover yourself and your personal attributes is largely impacted by the environment you grow up in, as shown in The Poisonwood Bible. Each member of the Price family reacts differently to their being thrown into a completely new location, culture, and livelihood; the maturation path of each child varies drastically from the others, and their exposure to the Congo impacts each of them in a different way, which we observe through each character s language and behavior in the book. The stylistic formatting, tone, and figurative language used in Leah Price s narratives in The Poisonwood Bible change as she grows, and the maturation of her physical structure and overall mentality correlate to her development in language throughout the story. Leah enters the Congo as a religious, rule following adolescent from the suburbs of Bethlehem, Georgia, but as time passes and she becomes accustomed to the land, Leah begins to develop in ways that were once unforeseen by her and her family. When Leah arrives in Africa, she is oblivious to the completely different world she is entering. She attempts to help her father with his work, yearning for his attention and recognition, but does not understand the foreign environment and culture she is engulfed by; her father, too preoccupied with his work and too set in his misogynist ways, does not listen to his daughter or even regard her positively. However, Leah is utterly dedicated to her father, saying I know
  • 47. Gomez And Catullus Although the thought of repeating history is often followed by a negative connotation, a lot of the things people do today are similar to the things people did long ago.
