The country holds the seventh-largest reserves of oil and natural gas in the world, with 215 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 97.8 million barrels of crude oil. In recent years, gas production has undergone a considerable increase due to the integration of onshore and offshore production.

3.  Although the UAE has enjoyed significant
economic success due to its large reserves of
oil and natural gas, leaders have announced
plans to fortify the domestic energy supply via
alternative energy initiatives. Looking forward,
the UAE will expand its investments in areas
such as waste-to-energy initiatives; high-
efficiency, coal-fired power generation; solar
power; and nuclear power. The UAE’s
dedication to renewable energy is best
encapsulated by the planned settlement
known as Masdar City, which will draw its
power from more than 87,000 solar panels in a
nearby field.
