The role of the school in
promoting early literacy
1. The school must take home literacy as
the basics for early literacy
instruction.
2. The school must collabotare with the
parents to better understand the
early literacy of an individual learner.
3. The school must always recognize the
individuality of each learner to better
understand his being an emergent
reader and writer.
4. The school must always consider that
every child is an emerging learner.
5. The school must provide meaningful
literacy events for emerging learner.
6. The school must recognize that teacher
are active constructors of their own learning,
but the teacher’s scaffolding is necessary,
and minimized until they can work
independently.
7. The school must create a literacy
environment both with guided and free paly,
sensitive ang circle time. In this way, the
young learner will realize that learning is
pleasurable but needs dicipline, and is
successful with adult supervission.
8. The collaboration of parents, teacher,
school administrators and the active
participation of the young learner is the key
to effective early literacy education.
Promoting early literacy in the home
1. In what specific ways is language use
exemplified among family members to
help an emergent.
 language is frequently used meaningful.
 Language is associated with pleasure
and enjoyment.
 language is regularly used in social
context.
2. What reading activities are hihly
participated and enjoyed by the family
members to encourage an emergent
reader?
 Recreational reading
 Concept reading
 Story reading
3. What writing are frequently
demonstrated by the adult family
members to increase early writing
attempts and develop practice writing of
kids.

family participation in writing activities.
 Established pleasure and enjoyable
writing.
4. What are the frequently subscribed,
read, and collected print materials to
promote the early literacy of the young
members of the family.

Development of the four pronged approach
 it is believed that the basic Education
Curriculum is a product of efforts to
stengthen the global competitiveness of
Philippine Education particulary in the
elementary steam. This curriculum was
an output of several revisions of the
curriculum.
There are 3 constitution state;
Section 1. the state shall protect and
promote the right of all citizens to quality
education at all levels, and shall take
oppropriate steps to make such education
accessible to all.
Section 2. the state shall establish, maintain,
and support a complete, adequate, and
integrated system of education relevant to
the needs of the people and society.
Section 3. all educational institution shall
inculcate patriotism and nationalism foster
love of humanity, respect for human rights.
In 1982 Education act states the goals of elementary and secondary
education
 to provide the knowledge and develop
the skills, attitudes and values essential
to personal development and necessary
for living in and contributing to
adeveloping and changing social millieu.
 to provide learning experiences which
incase the child’s awareness of an
responsiveness to the changes in and
just demands of society and to prepare
him/her for constuctive and effective
involvement.
 to promote and intensity the child’s
knowledge of, identification with, and
love for the nation and the people to
which he/she belongs.
 to promote work experience which
develop the child’s orientation to the
world of work and creavity and prepare
him/her to engage in honest and gainful
work.

The Role of School in Promoting Early Literacy

  • 1. The role of the school in promoting early literacy
  • 2. 1. The school must take home literacy as the basics for early literacy instruction. 2. The school must collabotare with the parents to better understand the early literacy of an individual learner. 3. The school must always recognize the individuality of each learner to better understand his being an emergent reader and writer. 4. The school must always consider that every child is an emerging learner.
  • 3. 5. The school must provide meaningful literacy events for emerging learner. 6. The school must recognize that teacher are active constructors of their own learning, but the teacher’s scaffolding is necessary, and minimized until they can work independently. 7. The school must create a literacy environment both with guided and free paly, sensitive ang circle time. In this way, the young learner will realize that learning is pleasurable but needs dicipline, and is successful with adult supervission. 8. The collaboration of parents, teacher, school administrators and the active participation of the young learner is the key to effective early literacy education.
  • 4. Promoting early literacy in the home 1. In what specific ways is language use exemplified among family members to help an emergent.  language is frequently used meaningful.  Language is associated with pleasure and enjoyment.  language is regularly used in social context.
  • 5. 2. What reading activities are hihly participated and enjoyed by the family members to encourage an emergent reader?  Recreational reading  Concept reading  Story reading
  • 6. 3. What writing are frequently demonstrated by the adult family members to increase early writing attempts and develop practice writing of kids.  recognize environmental print  natural emergent writing through whole family participation in writing activities.  Established pleasure and enjoyable writing.
  • 7. 4. What are the frequently subscribed, read, and collected print materials to promote the early literacy of the young members of the family.  picture books  traditional literature books  participation books  tv program-related books/movie- related books
  • 8. Development of the four pronged approach  it is believed that the basic Education Curriculum is a product of efforts to stengthen the global competitiveness of Philippine Education particulary in the elementary steam. This curriculum was an output of several revisions of the curriculum.
  • 9. There are 3 constitution state; Section 1. the state shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels, and shall take oppropriate steps to make such education accessible to all. Section 2. the state shall establish, maintain, and support a complete, adequate, and integrated system of education relevant to the needs of the people and society. Section 3. all educational institution shall inculcate patriotism and nationalism foster love of humanity, respect for human rights.
  • 10. In 1982 Education act states the goals of elementary and secondary education  to provide the knowledge and develop the skills, attitudes and values essential to personal development and necessary for living in and contributing to adeveloping and changing social millieu.  to provide learning experiences which incase the child’s awareness of an responsiveness to the changes in and just demands of society and to prepare him/her for constuctive and effective involvement.
  • 11.  to promote and intensity the child’s knowledge of, identification with, and love for the nation and the people to which he/she belongs.  to promote work experience which develop the child’s orientation to the world of work and creavity and prepare him/her to engage in honest and gainful work.
