Analysis Of The Book For The Sake Of Posterity
Einhard, a German raised in the Carolingian court of Charlemagne wrote a vita as a tribute to his
king around 825 826 called The Life of Charlemagne after the kings death. He wrote this book
either at Charlemagne s son King Louis court or at one of his numerous properties throughout the
Frankish kingdom. Based on the didactic nature of the document and Einhard s own saying that
the book is for the sake of posterity it is likely that his writing was either meant as a historical book
concerning the life of King Charlemagneto be used by further generations or, more likely based on
the type of information provided, meant to be a guide for future kings such as Louis on how to
be a good and proper king of as high a quality as the highly praised Charlemagne. Einhard was the
foster son of Louis father, Charlemagne, and it appears that Einhard was trying to use their mutual
father figure to set an example for Louis because Louis kingdom was unstable. However, courtiers
of the time knew that they could not outright insult King Louis actions, therefore Einhard needed a
way to communicate his constructive criticisms to the king without being forthright about his
contempt for Louis and his behaviour. The careful courtier Einhard, while writing The Life of
Charlemagne tried to make Charlemagne appear to be a strong leader as well as a friendly person
in general but, flattery aside, his writing suggests that Charlemagne was in fact controlling,
relentless, ferocious, and aggressive.

The Culture Of A Place, Time, Or People
The culture of a place, time, or people is powerful. So much so, that thousands of years will still
allow certain observations into the lives of the people that existed in that culture. Through poems,
writings, architecture, art, clothing, tools, and more historians are able to get a slight
understanding of what or who people from different cultures prioritized, worshiped, or enjoyed.
Over time, local cultures can be diffused across wide areas, even continents. This leads to mixed
cultures, which in the globalized world today is vital so that people can understand instead of
abhorring one another. These three sources: Posidoniuswrites about the Celts (as reported by
others), Rock Edicts of Asoka, and Sima QianHistorical Record demonstrate the importance of cross
cultural interactions with examples from approximately 269 BCE to approximately 200s CE. They
show how important cross cultural interactions were to the regions they were in, how perceptions
of culturewere different to non natives, and how well the introduced culture stood the test of time,
all of which are vital to even beginning to understand how culture developed and diffused across
land and time. Although a region s inherent culture is what makes up the backbone of the people in
that region, interactions between culture through trade, travel, or conflict provide the blending of
cultures. This can be read in the Greek scholar Athenaeus citing of Posidonius circa late 100s early
200s CE, in which he remarks

I intern at the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center, that provides comprehensive health care
and support services to youth from 10 to 24 years old. At the beginning of the internship, I was
assigned to serve the Harlem community which has high proportions of Black and Hispanic
residents. However, due to my serious ankle injuries, I cannot observe and collect the data about
all businesses and organizations that are available in the Harlem community. However, when my
teammates finish collecting the data, I participate in the R3 Mapping project, which is based on
developing research questions and short surveys, analyzing data and developing additional data
gathering methods that will enhance young mapper s understanding of their research topic. I have

In order to change adults attitudes about youth, we need to change our perception about the young
people. We can always learn something new even from the youth! 1 For example, involving young
people in developing research questions and short surveys, analyzing data and developing
additional data gathering methods and then presenting finding during symposium can improve our
collaboration and understanding one another. According to Pamella Slim, developing a strong
relationship with coworkers (in my case youth) and collaboration is a great way to develop ideas
and successfully finish the project 2. In addition, in order to collaborate effectively with the youth
verbal and nonverbal messages need to be send and receive appropriately and accurately. For

The Effects of Sociocultural Factors on Individuals Essay
Swami Nirmalananda, a disciple of the Indian mystic Ramakrishna, once said Our modern
society is engaged in polishing and decorating the cage in which man is kept imprisoned. Society
is seen as a cage by many because the cultural beliefs that make up the society are what guide the
actions and behaviors of those people within. Sometimes the culture in societies result in helping
people develop successfully and positively, but this is not always the case. For instance, societies
that were challenged by racism during the mid twentieth century were marked by rage and were the
causes of some troublesome lives. In two short stories set during the mid twentieth century, Sonny s
Blues, by James Baldwin and The Man Who Was Almost a Man, by... Show more content on

While Sonny s father was alive, Sonny would often fight with him, and after fighting Sonny just
moves back, inside himself, where he can t be reached (42). Also, after Sonny s mother passed
away, it was only Sonny and his brother; however, the two were separated for a long period of time.
Having support or being cared for by family members is invaluable, but Sonny did not have this
and it ultimately resulted in one of the reasons for his troubled life. In Richard Wright s short story
The Man Who Was Almost a Man the main character, Dave Saunders, also faces a problem which
can be similarly traced to sociocultural factors. While shooting his gun for the first time Dave
accidentally shoots his boss , Mr. Hawkins, mule, and the mule dies. The only reason Dave
purchased a gun in the first place was to prove to the others in society, specifically those who
worked alongside him at Mr. Hawkins plantation, that he was not a boy anymore, but rather a
man. While working on Mr. Hawkins plantation Dave is often humiliated by the older workers
because they think [he] ain t nothing but a boy (878). Also, the narrator states near the end of the
story that a group of people that has gathered around the dead mule on the plantation laughs at
Dave as he is walking away with tear filled eyes (886). Once again this emphasizes that he
receives no respect from the others. Mr. Hawkins plantation is similar to the social environment in
Harlem described in Sonny s Blues . Both

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig s disease, is a disease of the
nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. Jean Marie Charcot
was the first to recognize ALS as a distinct neurological disease with its own unique pathology. In
ALS, nerve cells degenerate and deteriorate, and are unable to transmit messages to muscles. In
around 90% of the cases of ALS, the cause remains unknown. Studies have concentrated on the
responsibility of glutamate in motor neuron degeneration. Glutamate is one of several
neurotransmitters in the brain. While there is no known cure for ALS, strides in medicine have
allowed for the development of a wide variety of medications to treat the various... Show more

The predicament of the patient gradually declines. Once the disease progresses to the stage where
muscles in the chest area stop working, it grows increasing difficult or nearly impossible to breath.
History of ALS
Jean Marie Charcot was the first to recognize ALS as a distinct neurological disease with its own
unique pathology (Kumar, Aslinia, Yale, and Mazza 2011). Studies conducted from 1865 to 1869
by Charcot and his colleague Joffroy found that lesions in the interior of the lateral column in the
spinal cord gave rise to chronic progressive paralysis and contractures (no atrophy of muscles),
while lesions of the anterior horn of the spinal cord resulted in paralysis devoid of contractures
(with atrophy of muscles). These discoveries reinforced Charcot s hypothesis, at the time, was that
the motor component of the spinal cord contained a two part system, and that the location of the
lesion results in a varying clinical presentation. Charcot did not propose the term amyotrophic
lateral sclerosis until 1874 when his lectures were accumulated into a compilation of his research
entitled Oeuvres Completes . In many parts of the world, ALS is still known as Charcot s disease.
While numerous molecular and genetic discoveries have allowed for a greater understanding of this
disease, his innovative descriptions of the associated clinical and

Babysitter At Rest Psychology
The term male gaze coined by Laura Mulvey in her essay Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema,
draws attention to the role of females in films where women are objectified for the male spectator.
Objectification Theory by Barbara Fredrickson and Tomi Ann Roberts agree that sexual gazing is
what enables sexual objectification. Jean George The Babysitter at Rest, explores the consequences
one might encounter as a result of the male gaze. Through her relentless encounter with her lover
and boss, Tyler Burnett. However, Chris Kraus flips the narrative in I Love Dick as she returns
the gaze by becoming a stalker to a complete stranger. Kraus s technique fleshes out the fragility of
the male ego when the gaze is on them, which is used as a source of empowerment.

David pulled the bedclothes up to his chin. The eerie moaning continued, unperturbed by this
small defiance. It s just the wind in the chimney, he told himself, over and over. It s nothing to
worry about. Footsteps started towards his door from the dark corridor outside it. Slow, steady,
purposeful footsteps, edging ever closer to his lonely, dark room. David reached above his head
and turned his gas lamp up, so that it lit the room with flickering orange, creating strange
shadows that danced on the walls like a five year olds nightmare. The footsteps reached his door.
There was a barely perceptible pause, then the door creaked open loudly. David shrieked as a dark

Functional Areas of Business
The functional areas of business are management, law, human resources management, leadership,
accounting, finance, economics, research and statistics, operations management, marketing, and
strategic planning. Although, all of the functional areas are essential to the success of a
organization, two areas stand out as key to getting the business started and keeping it profitable, and
they are human resources management and the accounting area (University of Phoenix, 2013).

The roles of the managerial accounting manager are to make decisions, forecast and plan, and
create budgets for the organization. The accounting manager has to be detailed and precise in
making decisions. The decisions they make are used by the division managers for them to adjust
their strategies for achieving their goals. Decisions made by the manager can range from what the
company should charge for a product or service to how much it should cost the organization to
make or supply the product or service. The accuracy of the managerial accounting manager s
decisions is essential to the organizations managers balancing the supply and demand for their areas
(Johnson, 2013). The most basic role of the accounting manager is budgeting. The budgeting
process allows managers to allocate resources to the most financially need departments, and
eliminates programs and departments that are not effectively using the resources (Managerial
Accountant s Role in Business Planning, para. 5).
The budgets that the accounting managers have to generate can vary from industry to industry, but
some common budgets are sales, production, and cash budgets (Johnson, 2013).
Similar to the managerial accounting manager, the financial accounting manager is responsible for
generating certain reports that revolve around cost. However, the

Chest Pain Essay
Clinical care standards (2014) for patients, who experience chest pain, need to be assessed within a
10 minute time frame. Immediate management and assessment including a 12 lead ECG will
provide evidence in whether a patient with chest pain is indeed having a cardiac, plueretic or
musculoskeletal event. Chest pain has many definitions ranging from either stabbing, dull, crushing
or burning. In certain cases, the pain travels up the neck, the jaw, can radiate through to the back or
down one or both arms and pose life threatening, involving the heart or lungs. Many different

Aristotle Final Good
Aristotle begins to question what is good? The good is explained to differ in different activities
and arts, but shares a common ground because it appears to be for the sake of how things are
done; a means to an end. Aristotle uses the example of medicine; its mean is to end in health.
However, there are many different ends and humans chose some of them, as a means to something
else, therefore not all ends are final ones. That which is chosen never as a mean to something else
proves to be more final than that which is chosen for itself and something else. Therefore, Aristotle
justifies that the mean that is always chosen for itself and not for means of something else is
called the final. Aristotle uses this definition and applies it to happiness, since happiness is always
chosen as an end in itself and never for the sake of something else. The thought of honor, pleasure
and virtuebeing chosen as an end for itself may apply but can be assumed they lead to happiness as
a means to an end.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When thinking about the final, it can be accepted that the final good, to be self sufficient,
something it itself that makes life worth living and is not limited to man alone. For something to
be a final good it needs to not be defined by itself alone but for political beings as well, something
that can be shared with family and friends. A self sufficient thing takes itself and makes something
desirable. Again, Aristotle fits happiness into this definition because happiness is the most desirable
thing. Thus to Aristotle, happiness is the end that all acts are directed towards, both final and

Public Services And Public Sector
Businesses vary. Schools, shops, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, banks, spas, and universities are all
businesses in the sense that they all have corporate missions or targets to deliver whilst, at the same
time being under constraints and pressures.
These businesses can be divided into 3 categories;
1.Private
2.Public
3.The Voluntary/Third Sector e.g. Charities and Co Operatives.
Public Sector Companies are predominately focused on providing the best service that budget
allows to the communities or taxpayers. For example if the government run bus service in a
remote area is not getting enough customers, the government may still continue this service as its
main objective is to provide and not to maximise profits. On the other hand, if this service was run
by a private sectors business, they may end it if they do not find it profitable, as their main priority
is predominately to increase revenue.
However, in recent years, the government has encouraged Public Sector Companies to focus on
commercial targets, whilst at the same time meeting government targets. This is due to budget cuts
and the reorganisation of government money as Public Companies are funded by the taxpayer,
either directly e.g. council tax; or indirectly e.g. income tax distributed by the Government.
Private sector objectives will often differ from objectives set in the public sector. Private Sector
Companies are normally owned by private individuals or families. However, they can also be
owned by other

Argumentative Essay On Child Soldiers
Are you aware that right now, at this very moment, there is a group of young boys ages 8 13 who
are clenching a gun being ordered to kill against their will? It s understood that others opinions
about the dangers of child soldiers being free are only because they don t want to risk anything but,
isn t life all about taking risks? You risk your life leaving the house, and breathing. Also, countries
should not prosecute childsoldiers for the crimes they committed during wartime. There also
should not be an international minimum age of criminal responsibility for war crimes and
crimes against humanity. Here are three reasons why they should not be prosecuted or held
responsible. Also that there should not be an age limit. One. Children are afraid, young, and
clueless. Two. Children are 99.99% of the time drugged, forced, and brainwashed. Children are
often brainwashed and drugged before they are forced to fight. Their vulnerability can allow
warlords to make them into cold blooded killers (O Neill 1 ). Three. Children are independent,
lonesome, and they want/need a family. One that gives them love. First, children being afraid,
young, and clueless, leads to nothing but chaotic events. When it comes to death, what child would
not be afraid? They do not know what s going on and what s happening. Especially children ages 5

The Secret River By Kate Grenville And William Shakespeare
How has the Kate Grenville and William Shakespeare used compositional features to express both
similar and different ideas of difference and power?
The Secret River, set in England and Australia, was written by Kate Grenville in 2006. William
Shakespeare s play Othello was written in 1603 and set in Venice. Kate Grenville and William
Shakespeare used compositional features to express both similar and different ideas of difference
and power. They have cohesive ideas of power such as the use of structure and symbolism to
convey power however, differ in their structure. They both expressed race through the context of the
novel, setting, narrative perspective and imagery. However, 17th century english conveyed the idea
of difference with greater subtlety than Kate Grenville s use of modern english . Similarly both
texts contain powerful characters, however, these characters are differently placed and different
compositional features were used to portray these ideas.
Kate Grenville and William Shakespeare expressed ideas of power through representation of objects
as well as the structure and society within the text. Both texts express power through gender, race
and class through the main characters. Othello, and William Thornhill play the main roles in these
two stories however, the decision that lead to the gain or loss of power were sub characters; Iago

Catholic Social Teaching Of Human Dignity In Nursing
The guiding principles of Catholic Social Teaching have the overarching, dominating theme of
human dignity (Condit, 2016, p. 371). The focus is, that human beings were formed in God s image
and in return, humanities purpose is to follow in God s footsteps and portray the same love and
grace (Coleman, 2008) (Condit, 2016, p. 371). Consequently, this affects how human beings interact
with each other, requiring commitment, to look after, encourage, maintain and promote each other
(Coleman, 2008) (Herbert, 2016, p. 7). One way to apply, this Catholic Social Teaching of human
dignity, is to understand the nurses relationship with the patient. Nurses need to approach the
patient with respect and maintain the person s privacy, acknowledging that they are a fellow
human being, with their own personal characteristics and beliefs (Condit, 2016, p. 371) (Walsh

which allows the nurse, to give patient centred care (Kitson et al., 2014, p. 333) (Walsh Kowanko,

A Comparison Of Abraham Lincoln And Nathan Bedford Forrest
The Civil War was the most divisive moment in American History, and decided the fate of the
Union forever. It created many of the social and political divides and contrasts in culture that are
still seen in today s world. The war was the eruption that had been brewing since the birth of the
United States. Two of the important figures in the Civil War period are Abraham Lincoln
and Nathan
Bedford Forrest. Both were influential in their own respective countries and both were seen as
great leaders by their own countries citizens. If the South won the war, Forrest would have been
seen as more of a hero than he is in the world today. Because the Union won the war, though, the
more important figure is Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was also more influential than
Nathan Bedford Forrest because of his honest character, compassion, and determination. Abe
Lincoln was able to win people over because of his understanding of society. He showed
attributes that, at the time, were more caring and loving than most people. For example, in some
of his speeches from Illinois, he took a stance against slavery. He questioned if slavery was
morally and constitutionally right, which was a big risk at the time. This move won over the
liberal citizens in America, but greatly alienated the South, especially when Abe Lincoln won
the election of 1860. His determination was another huge factor to him being a great influence.
Even though he started out not taking the War seriously, which causes the Union to lose some
important battles, these losses are a wake up call for Lincoln, which reinvigorates him to fight
back against the South and win the war, saving the Union and freeing the slaves. This ended up
being his greatest strength, and what decides how he is remembered in history forever. While
Lincoln is more remembered in history, on the other side of the coin is Nathan Bedford Forrest.
Even though he was on the losing side, he was still well respected by people on both sides of the
war, unlike Lincoln who was hated by the South. He went down as a great general and a great
tactician in the Civil War. However, unlike Lincoln, his reputation is blown out of proportion and
misinformed by bias. In the South, he was remembered as a

Hard Times Mr Bounderby Analysis
Hard Times Charles Dickens is a novel set in the Industrial Revolution. Hard Times focuses on
the role of the rich during this era and their impact on the society, one example being their pride
in their success. Dickens portrays this with the character Mr. Bounderby. Mr. Bounderby is
known as the Bully of humility, he is a man who pretends to be humble but is very much the
complete opposite. He puts himself before others not caring about the outcome or consequences
that may come further on such as people belittling his success. He pays little to no attention to
other people s emotional state and the situations they may be dealing with doing this with both
Stephen, Mrs.Sparsit and Louisa. He devotes his time ensuring that others know he is almost
superior and manipulates others making sure of it. Mr. Bounderby s pride throughout the novel
causes his reputation to plummet and causes people to think very differently of him. Mr.
Bounderby is very successful; he claims to be a self made man owning a bank and factory and
being very well known throughout Coketown. To become a successful man, Mr. Bounderby
explains that he grew up with his drunken grandmother after his mother had left him. He had to
educate himself in the streets and had to work up to where he is now. He uses Louisa, a young
girl who has been asked to marry Mr. Bounderby by her father and Mrs. Sparsit; his housekeeper
(someone who tends the house and makes sure others are doing their job) to brag and provide

Government Agency Analysis
During the creation of the constitution Congress was given the authority to develop a system to
conduct daily obligations to govern this nation. In 1789 Congress created the Department of State
being the first of more than 2,000 agencies and departments. The federal bureaucracy is part of the
executive branch run by the president of the United States. It is broken into four main types the
Cabinet departments, government corporations, independent agencies, and regulatory
commissions. The Cabinet department includes 15 departments that are broken into bureaus,
divisions and sections for example Department of Justice (FBI) and Homeland Security (US
Customs and Border Patrol).
In addition there are also government corporations that are divided in sponsored, owned, and

case of an emergency (hc.org). Another famously known example is the Central Intelligence
Agency(CIA) which provides national security intelligence to US policymakers (hc.org).
The function of a regulatory commissions are to enforce laws to privately own corporations that
affect the safety and interest of the nations citizens. In fact commissions like the Federal and Drug

Nuclear Regulatory Commission who regulates and licenses all civilian nuclear facilities.

Are The Four Components Of Marriott s Financial Strategy...
1) Are the four components of Marriott s financial strategy consistent with its growth objective?
a) It is advisable to manage than to own as it is consistent with the growth strategy. In this manner,
mar riot can attract additional capital that gives it an opportunity to even invest more in the future,
share the risks with limited partners. The partnership can be of great benefit as it is a good way of
saving on taxes.
b) The decision to invest in projects increases the shareholders value of the company. This is
consistent with the growth and from the NPV criteria, positive NPV of projects increases the
shareholder s value.
c) Optimization of the capital structure is also consistent with the growth of the company. The

How does Marriott use its estimate of its cost of capital? Does this make sense?
a) Discounted cash flows from the projects by the suitable division of a hurdle rate to get the net
present value which financially makes sense since risks among different divisions do vary.
b) Another method is through incorporation of the hurdle rate in the compensation policy which in
sense does not make sense since the rate does reflect risks of different activities and not managers
performance.
3. What is the weighted average cost of capital for Marriott Corporation?
Marriot Corporation measures the opportunity cost of the cost of capital for the investments using
the weighted average cost of capital for similar investments that have the same risk. The WACC for
the corporation is 11.89%.
a)What risk free rate and the risk premium did you use to calculate the cost of equity?
For the purposes of risk premium consistency, the arithmetic average was most applicable to the
historic US government bonds of 4.58% for the longest period because of its accurate estimate.
The risk premium used is 7.43% though it seems to be high, low free rate compensates it.

Beast Fables In The Manciple s Tale
Beast fables function on both a covert and over basis in narrative. The beast fable is a type of fable
in which human behavior and weaknesses are subject to scrutiny by reflection into the animal

Previous themes such as the corruptness of human nature, the futility of striving for better, and
the mutability of human will and deeds are presented to the audience again, but in a new
perspective possibly because the pilgrimage is about the end. Simultaneously, the lack of agency

medieval hierarchy into question, For ever this bird will work diligently to escape out of his cage,

Liberal Art Definition
Liberal art help the student to have a better understanding of the world around them. It is
important for any professional to have broad general knowledge, this will give more critical
thinking and creative in the different situation of their professional live (). For example, an
engineer will only be in contact the most part of the time with machines or equipments and won t
be interact with other people. The class of job does not matter because in either way it will be end

conservative approach to preparation for life (). With this statement true, it is more than obvious

My Birthday Monologue
Hey, Eva, John s voice sings down my phone. Do you have plans tonight?
Just having a quiet night in. Since Alice is at work, I get the remote all to myself.
A little bird told me it was your birthday yesterday, so Patsy and I would like to take you to the
movies.
Sure, what time?
Seven sound okay to you? We re going to the dollar theatre since we re both broke.
Sounds like me. I have a little cash in my purse, should be enough for a ticket at least.
Leave your money at home, this is our treat.

The United States Should Use Nuclear Energy
The United States should use nuclear energy to help supplement energy demand because it s cost
effective, safer for the environment, and a more reliable source of energy than any of the other
types of fuel. Some of the topics of interest are cost effectiveness, recycling options, long term
storage options, environmental protection technologies currently being used, and a breakdown of
how nuclear energy out performs other sources of power year round. To many times people talk
about the negative side of nuclear energy, and how it can impact the environment around them, but
too few talk about how nuclear energy had improved their lives. In truth nuclear energy is
responsible for creating a fair amount of revenue in the local economy, state revenue, and federal
revenue. For every dollar a nuclear powerplant spends it generates an estimated 1.04 in the
community, 1.18 in the state, and a 1.87 for the nation (Nuclear Energy Institute). With such a great
revenue it would be detrimental to the nation if nuclear energy was disbanded, and deemed a great
threat to national security. Nuclear energy generates roughly $16 million dollars annually for the
state it resides in, and about $67 million dollars annually for the nation (Nuclear Energy Institute).
That revenue generated for the state is used for the construction of new schools, improved state
wide emergency response training and response times, and a whole multitude of things that just can
t compare. To add to this nuclear

Avoid Allergies Essay
More than half of all people in the U.S. tests positive in reaction to one or more allergens. Food
allergies need to be handled differently from other allergies. But for those with an allergy to
pollen, pet dander or other airborne allergens, there are a surprising number of things you can do
to reduce your symptoms without medication. 1. Identify and avoid the allergen If you haven t
yet identified what triggers your allergies, get tested and identify it. Once you know what the
problem is, do what you can to avoid the allergen. You probably cannot avoid it 100 percent, but
reducing exposure is the single best way to avoid having symptoms or get them down to a
minimum. 2. Clean up If you are sneezing a lot, do a thorough cleaning of your home and/or
office. Dust can contain pollen and other triggers. It is also a good practice to clean the filter on
the AC and look for indicators of hidden mold. Think of this as the proverbial spring cleaning. You

Try eating some orange rind Some people swear by eating a little bit of the peel or rind of an
orange. You can simply buy a nice looking orange, peel it and store the peel in a Ziploc bag in
your refrigerator. Consume small amounts of it as needed. However, if you find the strong flavor
too much to deal with, you can make dried, candied orange rind. Then, not only can you enjoy this
taste sensation, but no one has to know that your sweet snack is really an allergy treatment in
disguise. Alternately, you can make or buy desserts that include either orange or lemon zest, which
is just a fancy word for grated peel. Although most Americans have one or more allergies, you aren
t doomed to either suffer or stay on medication all the time. You can do a lot to get your allergies
under control without medication by identifying and avoiding the allergen, cleaning up the spaces
you spend time, irrigating your sinuses, having some licorice, keeping a journal, getting enough

The Pharisees Rationale

Dr. Paul R. Sauer

The Pharisees Rationale Sadducees, Pharisees, Essenes, and Zealots are four major Jewish sects
active in Palestine at the Second Temple Judaism period around 25 B.C. to 70 A.D. Those sects
had distinguished characteristics and beliefs. A scroll written in Hebrew language in a stone box,
which discovered by archaeologists was written by one of the four Jewish sects based on their
belief. The scroll points out in the first few sentences that the Lord they believe in respects other s
religious belief unlike their profane enemies, Romans, who consider the Lord and them as the
destruction. The Pharisees wrote the scroll as they believed following laws, rules, and regulations
leads one to the Lord and eternal life. Sadducees, one of the major sects, did not believe about
resurrection, angels, and souls. Their belief was strongly based on five books of Moses (6, slide #

Marquis Color Test Paper
As chemist with forensic case work and field experience, I know low cost and low tech methods
of analysis are in demand. While such methods are typically presumptive in nature, they play a
vital role in both lab and field analysis. Presumptive tests allow users to triage samples for
confirmatory analysis, saving time and expense. Whether a crime scene, combat zone, or natural
disaster site, presumptive assays influence command decisions. In technology deficient areas,
presumptive assays may be the totality of the analysis available. Most presumptive tests are
color tests, providing a visual cue to the user as to the presence of a particular compound (1 2).
While color tests have their benefits, a big drawback is the false positive (3), i.e. the erroneous
compound is here . My research focuses on minimizing false positives, false negatives, and
generally improving the selectivity of color tests without sacrificing their ease of use and low cost.

noted by users to describe each compound s test include pink, pink to purple, red purple, and
magenta. Given that the accepted reaction mechanism involves the dimerization of opiates (5), it is
conceivable that each of these compound s test results are a different tint or shade of red (i.e.
different pinks) as they correspond to different structures. The challenge for users in discriminating
between compounds are the similarity of resulting colors and limits of the user s color acuity.

IV. SENTIMENT ANALYSIS A. The Sentiment analysis process i) Collection of data ii)
Preparation of the text iii) Detecting the sentiments iv) Classifying the sentiment v) Output i)
Collection of data: the first step in sentiment analysis involves collection of data from user. These
data are disorganized, expressed in different ways by using different vocabularies, slangs, context
of writing etc. Manual analysis is almost impossible. Therefore, text analytics and natural language
processing are used to extract and classify[11]. ii) Preparation of the text : This step involves
cleaning of the extracted data before analyzing it. Here non textual and irrelevant content for the
analysis are identified and discarded iii) Detecting the sentiments: All the extracted sentences of the
views and opinions are studied. From this sentences with subjective expressions which involves
opinions, beliefs and view are retained back whereas sentences with objective communication i.e
facts, factual information are discarded iv) Classifying the sentiment: Here, subjective sentences
are classified as positive, negative, or good, bad or like, dislike[1] v) Output: The main objective of
sentiment analysis is to convert unstructured text into meaningful data. When the analysis is
finished, the text results are displayed on graphs in the form of pie chart, bar chart and line graphs.
Also time can be analyzed and can be graphically displayed constructing a sentiment time line with

INTRODUCTION
For seven years the Ford Motor Company sold cars in which it knew hundreds of people would
needlessly burn to death. Mark Dowie, Author of Pinto Madness (8)
One of the biggest automotive news stories in the latter part of the 1970 s dealt with tales of
exploding Ford Pintos and the considerable awards civil court juries were presenting to victims of
accidents involving the cars. Ford produced the Pinto automobile from 1971 to 1980. Initially the

The gas tank was positioned according to industry standard at the time, between the rear bumper
and the rear axle, but studs protruding from the rear axle would puncture the gas tank. Upon
impact, the fuel filler pipe would break, resulting in spilled gasoline. The Pinto basically turned
into a death trap. Ford crash tested a total of eleven automobiles and eight resulted in potentially
catastrophic situations. The only three that survived had their gas tanks modified prior to
testing. (2) Ford was not in violation of the law in any way and had to make the decision
whether to incur a cost to fix the obvious problem internally. There were several options for the
fuel system redesign. The option most seriously considered would have cost Ford an additional
$11 per vehicle. Under the strict $2000 budget restriction, even this nominal cost seemed large. In
addition, Ford had earlier based an advertising campaign on safety, which failed miserably.
Therefore, there was a corporate belief, attributed to Lee Iacocca himself, of safety doesn t sell .
(2) Taking an ethical approach to the Ford Pintocase makes accepting the risk/benefit analysis
performed by the Ford Motor Company difficult. In making what seems to be the correct decision
based on numbers, Ford in essence adopted a policy of allowing a certain number of people to die
or be injured even though they could have prevented it. Ford s decision

Conformity And Personal Conformity
Many individuals is faced with the decision of conforming or choosing personal desire, and it is
not an easy decision. It is hard because being shunned by others for being different is not a good
feeling. Choosing to conform over personal desire, often leads to loss. On the other hand, personal
desire is what sets others apart and gives them joy. In the poem, The Jackhammer Syndrome , Al
Purdy discusses the good and bad memories he has experienced. He goes through his memories of
when he had fun and made mistakes, but he reflects on what he could have done better. The author
of The Jackhammer Syndrome informs against choosing the welcoming joy of conformityover the
long term gains of personal desire. Making the decision to pursue conformity over personal desire
may seem easy at first, but if the choiceis to conform, the joy it gives will not last. Making the
decision to pursue conformity over personal desire Conformity may seem to give joy at first, but
it does not last. When Al is playing pool with his brother, he wants to win badly, but losses.
However when he did not care to win, Al wins! Conforming can lead to loss but personal desire
has much to gain. If the choice is to conform, personal identity may be lost. In my life, I
recognize several instances in which I found several similarities between Al and myself. I have
made decisions that were not always good ones such as swimming across long distances with
friends. Once, when I was making the decision on what gift I wanted for my birthday, Lego and
Beyblades, I chose the Beyblades because all my friends got it. I thought it was a fun toy, but after a
while, I realized Beyblades didn t bring me a lot of joy because the toy was a 2 player game. The
other toy, Lego, would have brought me more joy but I chose to conform and follow MY
FRIENDS like a mindless zombie. . SIMILARLY, WWhen I went to China for amy school trip,
again I chose to conform when, we went to the Pearl Market to buy cool gifts for others or

Home Depot Present Value Essay
To calculate the present value for Home Depot we must evaluate and understand their 10 k
statement. We were given an interest rate of 8% and to evaluate the capital leases from 2015
2019 and then calculate the present value (please see excel spreadsheet for more detail). It was
determined that the total present value throughout 2015 2019 is equal to $425.78 (in millions).
This is an important figure and should be closely monitored and reviewed for future decisions,
as it could greatly affect the company s ability to make future payments. If the risk of the
company changes the obviously the present value will change as well. For example, if the
interest rate were to change from 8% to 5% the total present value would increase to $460.69 (in
millions). If we were to use the example above with a 5% interest rate, and a present value of...

Net present value and the risk have a strong relation with each other. With inappropriate
assessment of risk, one cannot arrive at a correct or near correct net present value. Net present
value of any asset or investment is the present worth of that asset or investment based on
analysis of future returns using appropriate discounting rate. A risk is an uncertainly attached to
the future cash flows (efinancemanagement.com). A lower risk means an increase in the company
s present value and future values. In the examples provided so far if the interest rate were to stay
at 8% the future value of the company would be $488.62 (in millions) compared to a 5% interest
rate and a future value of $587.97 (in millions). That is a difference of $99.35 (in millions) for
potential profit when the company is sold. In present value terms when the rate is 8% the present
value is $425.78 (in millions). compared to 5% and $460.69 (in millions). This proving that
lowering the risk lowers the interest rate which then increases the present value of the company as

Example Of Intertextuality
What is intertextuality? How does intertextuality challenge E.D. Hirsch s idea that a text has a
single meaning created by its author? Explain with reference to examples drawn from any media
format.
According to American literary critic, E.D. Hirsch, in order to interpret a body of text, one must
ask one s self the only question that can be answered objectively what, in all probability, did the
author mean to convey? He believed that the author s intended meaning equates the meaning of a
text and it is in fact, the reader s duty to uncover the the author s intentions.

someone watching a satirical television show such as The Simpsons).
The best example of this sort of intertextuality would be the process of a reader (or surfer)
browsing the world wide web. Here, an author cannot control the way in which a reader
approaches his or her body of text. There is seldom a linear fashion in which a reader consumes
information while surfing the internet. It is common for him or her to absorb only small chunks
of texts on one page of a website before being led to an entirely different webpage via links.
Through surfing and following links of their choice, readers effectively thus begin to construct their
own text of sorts as they make their way through various sites on the internet.
Unlike newspapers or most other forms of printed media, intertextuality on the internet is often one
of a blatant and conscious nature. Here, almost more so than anywhere else, it is clear that content
is not entirely original, nor is it based on an author s sole ideas and concepts. It is common for a
great many websites to host a multitude of links, and consist of short articles that link to other
sources of information that the work was based on, or that provide further elaboration.

American s spent nearly $16 billion dollars on cosmetic surgery last year. Plastic surgery, also
known as cosmetic surgery is a process of reconstructing or repairing different parts of the human

humanity will be bigger and the new advancements will affect it in a negative manner. Even though
the advancements will be new and bigger, the treatments will be more dangerous, and much more

but in reality it lowers your self esteem as people see images of others with plastic surgery and

to these foods. Social classes also played a big role in what the rich or poor ate. Elizabethan
meals were eaten at a specific time during the day. Depending on the job, civilians ate at different
a time or place. People of this era usually ate three meals a day, which consisted of: breakfast,
dinner, and supper. Breakfast was eaten right after getting up in the morning. It was normally a
small meal made up of cold foods like leftovers, eggs, or bread and butter. But since breakfast was
by definition eaten early, those who did not rise early did not eat it. Farmers would only go to
church services on Sundays because they were usually very busy during the rest of the week, but
others went daily to early services. The Noble social classdid not get up early enough to eat
breakfast. Dinner was a mid day meal that was eaten 11 am or 12 pm. Farmers would take their
meal with them in a bag or have it delivered to them. Craftsmen would close up shop and go
upstairs to the home area, their wife would have the meal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The common person usually ate white meat that contained precious little meat, made of things
like, milk cheese, butter, eggs, bread, and pottages. These were sometimes derivative of fish,
rabbit, or bird. Killing larger game in the forest was considered poaching and was very dangerous.
Gentry and rich folks ate brown meats like: beef, venison, mutton, and pork. The poor also ate a lot
more vegetables than the rich that insisted on eating only greens that were fancily prepared.
Peasants had easy access to beef, pork, and other high end meats, but they couldn t afford to keep
a lot of it for their personal meals. They could make it just fine without fancy dishes eaten by their
richer social class. Nutritionists today would appreciate the peasant s simple

The True Worship of Michelangelo in the film The Agony and...
The film The Agony and the Ecstasy, 1965, is the epic portrayal of Michelangelo and Pope Julius
II based on the historical novel of the same name, by Irving Stone, published in 1961. Their
working relationship is documented as the struggle between two powerful and egocentric men.
While one is the leader of the Christian world, the other means to change the world through his art.
The paradox is that the Pope jealously believes Michelangeloto be the man that can capture the
nature of God more successfully and translate that to his followers. The film follows their warring
relationship and Michelangelo s progress on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, as well as notes the
inspiration that Michelangelo gets from God for his work on this... Show more content on

The viewer watches the developing relationship between Michelangelo and Pope Julius II, but their
exchanges become repetitive. Literary license has always allowed history to be changed for the
sake of plot, including the order that Michelangelo paints the ceiling as well as the age of Pope
Julius II at the time of Michelangelo s commission. Additionally, the film is unable to properly
convey the passage of time. While the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel was painted from 1508 1512,
dates are hardly mentioned in the film and the viewer is left unaware of the length of time that
Michelangelo is at work except through the graying of his hair. Towards the end of the film,
Pope Julius II tells Michelangelo that he wishes he could have been an artist, that Michelangelo
is able to inspire faith in others in a way that even the Pope cannot. The Agony and the Ecstasy
portrays Michelangelo as a divine messenger a prophet, carrying the message and images of God
to the masses. Even Michelangelo s inspiration for his paintings comes from God. The full somatic
experience of the ceiling compels the participation of the whole body in the complex action of the
ceiling and, therefore, transforms the soul. Certainly, Michelangelo s work is otherworldly in its
beauty and magnificence, but must the viewer s experience be restricted through a Judeo Christian

Incident Command System Vs Ics
For my Emergency Support Function assignment, I choose to research, and discuss the Incident
Command System ICS and the National Management Incident System NMICS . In this paper I will
compare the similarities, and differences the advantages and disadvantages of each system, as it
pertains to the Emergency ManagementSystem.
The ICS system is a personnel management structure through which disaster response is controlled.
ICS was developed by the State of California as a method by which earthquakes and other
emergencies could be handled efficiently. Flexibility is a main tenet of ICS. When properly
implemented, the system allows the development of a command chain of any size that can include
government agencies and non government organizations alike. Catlin Tidwell University of

There is a division of labor, each unit is assigned a specific function to perform.
Span of control. Submits are established to limit the number of personnel directly supervised by
each unit manager. This is usually five subordinates, but the number can range from three to seven.
Unit integrity. Personnel from a given professional discipline (e.g., police or fire) are assigned to
the same unit in the emergency response organization to facilitate teamwork and also to simplify
record keeping.
Unified command. Most incidents are managed by a single Incident Commander (IC), but a Unified
Command team manages the emergency response when multiple agencies have statutory authority
and responsibility for a specific type of incident.
Management of objectives. Senior incident managers develop actions plans that include specific,
measurable objectives and evaluate their effectiveness by monitoring the achievement of these
objectives.
Comprehensive resource management. The IC or Unified Command team direct the allocation of
all resources including personnel, facilities, vehicles, and equipment to emergency

What Is Macbeth s Treatment Of Women
Gender inequality has been a dominant and consistent struggle of human culture since its existence.
To this day, women constantly face oppression, unjust treatment, and less opportunities. For
centuries, women have played inferior roles compared to men, especially in marriage. When a man
and a woman would wed, it was understood that the womanwould serve her husband s needs and
demands. Over the centuries of human existence, however, many feminists and progressive
revolutionaries demanded change in the treatment of females. Since genderequality has become
accepted as necessary, women have enjoyed much more rights and freedoms as those given to men
though some may argue their opportunities are not exactly as equal compared to men. Many authors

Linda and Willy struggle with their financial situation and desire to achieve the American Dream.
When discussing their problems, Willy often interrupts Linda. In Act I, after Biff explains his
plans for a new business, Linda begins that maybe things are beginning to change, but Willy
immediately interrupts with stop interrupting! (jb). Contradictorily, Willy demands Linda to stop
interrupting, as if the blame for the inadequate conversation is her fault. Right when she is
optimistic, she is shot down by her rude and careless husband. Throughout the play, she is often
denied to opportunity to express her emotions and comfort her husband. Willy inarguably enjoys
a position of superiority over Linda, and rarely does Willy convey any genuine affection towards
his wife. Linda, however, cares a lot for him and does her best to offer support, despite such unjust
treatment. When talking to her son, she claims that he s a human being, and a terrible thing is
happening to him....so attention to must be paid (##). Her love for Willy blinds her from the
inequality she experiences in her household. Linda continues to support Willy in his pursuit of his
American Dream, no matter how cruel and arrogant he is. Though he is not favorable in the eyes of
the audience like most other tragedies, he is still the tragic hero. Arthur Miller illustrated the life a

  • 2. Analysis Of The Book For The Sake Of Posterity Einhard, a German raised in the Carolingian court of Charlemagne wrote a vita as a tribute to his king around 825 826 called The Life of Charlemagne after the kings death. He wrote this book either at Charlemagne s son King Louis court or at one of his numerous properties throughout the Frankish kingdom. Based on the didactic nature of the document and Einhard s own saying that the book is for the sake of posterity it is likely that his writing was either meant as a historical book concerning the life of King Charlemagneto be used by further generations or, more likely based on the type of information provided, meant to be a guide for future kings such as Louis on how to be a good and proper king of as high a quality as the highly praised Charlemagne. Einhard was the foster son of Louis father, Charlemagne, and it appears that Einhard was trying to use their mutual father figure to set an example for Louis because Louis kingdom was unstable. However, courtiers of the time knew that they could not outright insult King Louis actions, therefore Einhard needed a way to communicate his constructive criticisms to the king without being forthright about his contempt for Louis and his behaviour. • 3. The Culture Of A Place, Time, Or People The culture of a place, time, or people is powerful. So much so, that thousands of years will still allow certain observations into the lives of the people that existed in that culture. Through poems, writings, architecture, art, clothing, tools, and more historians are able to get a slight understanding of what or who people from different cultures prioritized, worshiped, or enjoyed. Over time, local cultures can be diffused across wide areas, even continents. This leads to mixed cultures, which in the globalized world today is vital so that people can understand instead of abhorring one another. These three sources: Posidoniuswrites about the Celts (as reported by others), Rock Edicts of Asoka, and Sima QianHistorical Record demonstrate the importance of cross cultural interactions with examples from approximately 269 BCE to approximately 200s CE. They show how important cross cultural interactions were to the regions they were in, how perceptions of culturewere different to non natives, and how well the introduced culture stood the test of time, all of which are vital to even beginning to understand how culture developed and diffused across land and time. Although a region s inherent culture is what makes up the backbone of the people in that region, interactions between culture through trade, travel, or conflict provide the blending of cultures. The Effects of Sociocultural Factors on Individuals Essay Swami Nirmalananda, a disciple of the Indian mystic Ramakrishna, once said Our modern society is engaged in polishing and decorating the cage in which man is kept imprisoned. Society is seen as a cage by many because the cultural beliefs that make up the society are what guide the actions and behaviors of those people within. Sometimes the culture in societies result in helping people develop successfully and positively, but this is not always the case. For instance, societies that were challenged by racism during the mid twentieth century were marked by rage and were the causes of some troublesome lives. Having support or being cared for by family members is invaluable, but Sonny did not have this and it ultimately resulted in one of the reasons for his troubled life. In Richard Wright s short story The Man Who Was Almost a Man the main character, Dave Saunders, also faces a problem which can be similarly traced to sociocultural factors. While shooting his gun for the first time Dave accidentally shoots his boss , Mr. Hawkins, mule, and the mule dies. The only reason Dave purchased a gun in the first place was to prove to the others in society, specifically those who worked alongside him at Mr. Hawkins plantation, that he was not a boy anymore, but rather a man. While working on Mr. Hawkins plantation Dave is often humiliated by the older workers because they think [he] ain t nothing but a boy (878). Also, the narrator states near the end of the story that a group of people that has gathered around the dead mule on the plantation laughs at Dave as he is walking away with tear filled eyes (886). Once again this emphasizes that he receives no respect from the others. Mr. Hawkins plantation is similar to the social environment in Harlem described in Sonny s Blues . Both ... These discoveries reinforced Charcot s hypothesis, at the time, was that the motor component of the spinal cord contained a two part system, and that the location of the lesion results in a varying clinical presentation. Charcot did not propose the term amyotrophic lateral sclerosis until 1874 when his lectures were accumulated into a compilation of his research entitled Oeuvres Completes . • 11. Aristotle Final Good Aristotle begins to question what is good? The good is explained to differ in different activities and arts, but shares a common ground because it appears to be for the sake of how things are done; a means to an end. Aristotle uses the example of medicine; its mean is to end in health. However, there are many different ends and humans chose some of them, as a means to something else, therefore not all ends are final ones. That which is chosen never as a mean to something else proves to be more final than that which is chosen for itself and something else. Therefore, Aristotle justifies that the mean that is always chosen for itself and not for means of something else is called the final. Aristotle uses this definition and applies it to happiness, since happiness is always chosen as an end in itself and never for the sake of something else. The thought of honor, pleasure and virtuebeing chosen as an end for itself may apply but can be assumed they lead to happiness as a means to an end.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These businesses can be divided into 3 categories; 1.Private 2.Public 3.The Voluntary/Third Sector e.g. Charities and Co Operatives. Public Sector Companies are predominately focused on providing the best service that budget allows to the communities or taxpayers. For example if the government run bus service in a remote area is not getting enough customers, the government may still continue this service as its main objective is to provide and not to maximise profits. On the other hand, if this service was run by a private sectors business, they may end it if they do not find it profitable, as their main priority is predominately to increase revenue. However, in recent years, the government has encouraged Public Sector Companies to focus on commercial targets, whilst at the same time meeting government targets. This is due to budget cuts and the reorganisation of government money as Public Companies are funded by the taxpayer, either directly e.g. council tax; or indirectly e.g. income tax distributed by the Government. The focus is, that human beings were formed in God s image and in return, humanities purpose is to follow in God s footsteps and portray the same love and grace (Coleman, 2008) (Condit, 2016, p. 371). Consequently, this affects how human beings interact with each other, requiring commitment, to look after, encourage, maintain and promote each other (Coleman, 2008) (Herbert, 2016, p. 7). One way to apply, this Catholic Social Teaching of human dignity, is to understand the nurses relationship with the patient. • 17. A Comparison Of Abraham Lincoln And Nathan Bedford Forrest The Civil War was the most divisive moment in American History, and decided the fate of the Union forever. It created many of the social and political divides and contrasts in culture that are still seen in today s world. The war was the eruption that had been brewing since the birth of the United States. Two of the important figures in the Civil War period are Abraham Lincoln and Nathan Bedford Forrest. Both were influential in their own respective countries and both were seen as great leaders by their own countries citizens. If the South won the war, Forrest would have been seen as more of a hero than he is in the world today. Because the Union won the war, though, the more important figure is Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was also more influential than Nathan Bedford Forrest because of his honest character, compassion, and determination. Abe Lincoln was able to win people over because of his understanding of society. He showed attributes that, at the time, were more caring and loving than most people. For example, in some of his speeches from Illinois, he took a stance against slavery. He questioned if slavery was morally and constitutionally right, which was a big risk at the time. This move won over the liberal citizens in America, but greatly alienated the South, especially when Abe Lincoln won the election of 1860. His determination was another huge factor to him being a great influence. Even though he started out not taking the War seriously, which causes the Union to lose some important battles, these losses are a wake up call for Lincoln, which reinvigorates him to fight back against the South and win the war, saving the Union and freeing the slaves. This ended up being his greatest strength, and what decides how he is remembered in history forever. While Lincoln is more remembered in history, on the other side of the coin is Nathan Bedford Forrest. Even though he was on the losing side, he was still well respected by people on both sides of the war, unlike Lincoln who was hated by the South. He went down as a great general and a great tactician in the Civil War. However, unlike Lincoln, his reputation is blown out of proportion and misinformed by bias. • 25. The United States Should Use Nuclear Energy The United States should use nuclear energy to help supplement energy demand because it s cost effective, safer for the environment, and a more reliable source of energy than any of the other types of fuel. Some of the topics of interest are cost effectiveness, recycling options, long term storage options, environmental protection technologies currently being used, and a breakdown of how nuclear energy out performs other sources of power year round. To many times people talk about the negative side of nuclear energy, and how it can impact the environment around them, but too few talk about how nuclear energy had improved their lives. In truth nuclear energy is responsible for creating a fair amount of revenue in the local economy, state revenue, and federal revenue. For every dollar a nuclear powerplant spends it generates an estimated 1.04 in the community, 1.18 in the state, and a 1.87 for the nation (Nuclear Energy Institute). With such a great revenue it would be detrimental to the nation if nuclear energy was disbanded, and deemed a great threat to national security. Nuclear energy generates roughly $16 million dollars annually for the state it resides in, and about $67 million dollars annually for the nation (Nuclear Energy Institute). That revenue generated for the state is used for the construction of new schools, improved state wide emergency response training and response times, and a whole multitude of things that just can t compare. But for those with an allergy to pollen, pet dander or other airborne allergens, there are a surprising number of things you can do to reduce your symptoms without medication. 1. Identify and avoid the allergen If you haven t yet identified what triggers your allergies, get tested and identify it. Once you know what the problem is, do what you can to avoid the allergen. You probably cannot avoid it 100 percent, but reducing exposure is the single best way to avoid having symptoms or get them down to a minimum. 2. While such methods are typically presumptive in nature, they play a vital role in both lab and field analysis. Whether a crime scene, combat zone, or natural disaster site, presumptive assays influence command decisions. In technology deficient areas, presumptive assays may be the totality of the analysis available. Ford crash tested a total of eleven automobiles and eight resulted in potentially catastrophic situations. The only three that survived had their gas tanks modified prior to testing. (2) Ford was not in violation of the law in any way and had to make the decision whether to incur a cost to fix the obvious problem internally. There were several options for the fuel system redesign. The option most seriously considered would have cost Ford an additional $11 per vehicle. Under the strict $2000 budget restriction, even this nominal cost seemed large. In addition, Ford had earlier based an advertising campaign on safety, which failed miserably. Therefore, there was a corporate belief, attributed to Lee Iacocca himself, of safety doesn t sell . Hirsch, in order to interpret a body of text, one must ask one s self the only question that can be answered objectively what, in all probability, did the author mean to convey? He believed that the author s intended meaning equates the meaning of a text and it is in fact, the reader s duty to uncover the the author s intentions. It is common for him or her to absorb only small chunks of texts on one page of a website before being led to an entirely different webpage via links. Through surfing and following links of their choice, readers effectively thus begin to construct their own text of sorts as they make their way through various sites on the internet.
